00:00:52.960 Is it just me? Can it really just be me? Can I really be the only one who wakes up every day,

00:01:03.240 looks at my phone, and begins to suspect that I'm the main character in a Truman Show sequel, 0.95

00:01:09.120 where there's a plot twist, which is that the director's job is to keep upping the retard level 0.95

00:01:13.340 to the point that I work out this can't possibly be real and start shouting stop into the heavens. 0.99

00:01:18.800 Don't get me wrong, this cultural moment is not without its entertainment.

00:01:22.960 This week, the lols were furnished by ICE,

00:01:25.340 who arrested and deported online provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos. 1.00

00:01:29.700 Provocateur is French for someone who's made a lucrative career out of being an asshole. 0.99

00:01:33.640 Don't get me wrong, he's undeniably a funny man. 0.99

00:01:36.160 For example, last year he tweeted,

00:01:38.000 What is the etiquette if you're going about your business and find yourself observing an ice raid?

00:01:43.280 I want to show a little respect and decency, said Milo. 0.96

00:01:46.280 Are you allowed to masturbate where you stand, in the street? 0.89

00:01:49.700 Or should you find some kind of awning or motorized vehicle?

00:01:52.960 Despite previously quipping that he would never move back to Britain because he doesn't speak 1.00

00:01:57.140 Arabic, this week he found himself on Piers Morgan's show chronicling the brutality of his

00:02:02.540 deportation, confessing his shame at supporting President Trump, and crying about the dehumanizing

00:02:08.860 treatment at the hands of ICE, for whom he has repeatedly advocated to have complete immunity,

00:02:14.240 by the way. How could anyone with a conscience and a sense of humor not find this entire episode

00:02:19.300 deeply amusing. Milo, incidentally, is a very good example of the broader trend which it is the

00:02:24.160 purpose of this video to describe. Ten years ago, he was a bright, edgy commentator who said

00:02:29.420 provocative things about matters that were serious and important. He appeared on prominent podcasts

00:02:34.720 like the Rubin Report and the Joe Rogan Experience to talk about the meaning of conservatism,

00:02:39.580 censorship, the cultural vandalism of the progressive left, radical feminism, mass

00:02:44.080 immigration, and the rise of Donald Trump. He didn't have to agree with all of his views,

00:02:48.780 to recognize that the issues he was talking about were significant

00:02:52.440 and his acerbic quips were a way to shake his listeners

00:02:55.920 out of the straitjacket of political correctness.

00:02:58.740 He was a fringe, but nonetheless notable part of a bigger conversation

00:03:02.400 led by people like Jordan Peterson, Brett and Eric Weinstein,

00:03:06.180 Sam Harris, Douglas Murray, Ben Shapiro, and others.

00:03:09.120 Those were the big voices of the online center and center-right

00:03:12.540 who were breaking open the Overton window

00:03:14.720 imposed on reasonable people by the legacy media.

00:03:17.900 They debated God, atheism, meaning the decline of the West and its institutions and the future

00:03:23.640 of our civilization. Who are the big voices on the online right today? And what are they debating?

00:03:29.680 Here is forensic investigator Candace Owens debating whether Israel and or the French

00:03:34.340 Foreign Legion killed Charlie Kirk with the connivance of Erica Kirk, his wife.

00:03:39.120 Here's a debate about the future of the Republican Party with respected political

00:03:42.720 commentator Alex Jones. This stuff is inevitably popular, of course, because these people know

00:03:47.880 exactly what they're doing. Think back to that Milo joke about not wanting to move back to Britain

00:03:52.860 because he doesn't speak Arabic. The joke works because you get the idea Britain's been overrun

00:03:58.120 by Muslims. There's only one problem. The overwhelming majority of British Muslims don't 1.00

00:04:02.700 speak Arabic. They're not from the Arab world. They're from Pakistan, India, Somalia, Turkey,

00:04:07.640 and Bangladesh. Milo is smart enough to know this but he's also smart enough to know that the people

00:04:13.320 to whom he's pandering do not. This is the essence of sloppilism. Smart people saying dumb things to

00:04:19.000 profit from the ignorance of the baying mob. Case in point, the entire online ride has spent the 1.00

00:04:24.060 last month screeching about the Lindsay Clancy story. On the 24th of January 2023, Lindsay Clancy,

00:04:30.780 a 32-year-old labor and delivery nurse, killed her three children, then cut her neck and wrist

00:04:36.080 and jumped from a second floor window, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down. Clancy had

00:04:40.700 been treated for worsening anxiety, depression and insomnia by multiple providers and was prescribed

00:04:46.540 a dozen psychiatric medications, many via phone appointments. The killings came less than three

00:04:52.660 weeks after her discharge from a psychiatric facility. She pleaded not guilty by reason of

00:04:57.540 lack of criminal responsibility. At the time we're recording this video, the jury has deliberated for

00:05:02.940 five days, declared itself deadlocked twice and continues. A mistrial is possible. Naturally,

00:05:09.140 with a case of this nature there's much conjecture and speculation. There's also a debate about

00:05:14.220 whether she was capable of criminal responsibility or not. All of this is understandable, reasonable

00:05:20.060 and legitimate. Even the debate about the death penalty is in my view perfectly rational. What is 0.59

00:05:25.700 not reasonable, rational or legitimate is what I've seen in response to this story from many

00:05:30.840 commentators who've spent the last weeks using the story to drive a wedge between people.

00:05:34.960 According to the internet, if your girlfriend supports Lindsay Clancy, you should immediately

00:05:40.740 dump her if you endorsed by a whole host of prominent online commentators. Clancy had no

00:05:46.240 criminal record, no history of violence towards the children or anyone else, no prior contact

00:05:51.460 with Child Protective Services. She was by every account in testimony, including her former mother

00:05:57.920 in law, and as objective of sources you're likely to get in these circumstances, who testified that

00:06:03.000 she was begging for help, she was a devoted mother and respected labor and delivery nurse at Mass

00:06:08.100 General, whose only documented history was the escalating anxiety, insomnia, and depression of

00:06:13.880 her final four months, plus the suicidal thoughts that led to her voluntary psychiatric admission

00:06:18.700 on New Year's Eve. Clancy's ex-husband, Patrick, who has more reason than all of us combined to

00:06:23.660 be vengeful, has said publicly that he forgives her and views her as ill rather than evil. You may

00:06:29.780 disagree with him. You may say that sitting at home or in the comfort of your air-conditioned

00:06:34.100 podcast studio, you know beyond a reasonable doubt that she didn't have a psychotic episode

00:06:39.600 and was just depressed, tired, and looking for an easier way out. But you can't possibly deny

00:06:45.600 that a reasonable person could look at all that same evidence that I just laid out

00:06:49.780 and conclude that this was a person whose care was badly mishandled, leading to a tragedy.

00:06:54.780 This is, in other words, one of those issues about which reasonable people can reasonably

00:06:59.880 disagree.

00:07:00.840 Twelve people who sat through five weeks of evidence cannot agree for a reason, but

00:07:05.820 sloppy lists are incentivized to deny that such things exist.

00:07:09.640 The possibility of reasonable people having a respectful disagreement is a direct threat

00:07:14.840 to their business model, whose purpose is to present any event as a debate between good

00:07:19.920 and evil.

00:07:20.640 The progressive left spent the last several decades practicing this model to perfection,

00:07:25.460 and the online right has now embraced it with open arms.

00:07:28.640 It's a sloppulous world, and we're all just living in it.

00:07:31.840 If you enjoy these videos, remember that they're available as articles on my substack

00:07:36.320 days, weeks, sometimes months ahead of time.

00:07:39.380 So head on over to ConstantinKissen.com today and subscribe.

00:07:43.880 You read the news and think you're informed.

00:07:46.400 You're actually just selectively informed.

00:07:48.380 Modern media doesn't just report the news.

00:07:50.780 It quietly decides which stories you never even hear about.

00:07:54.220 Your blind spots aren't accidents.

00:07:56.180 They're someone else's decisions.

00:07:57.800 That's why I use Ground News.

00:07:59.780 Every day, they gather thousands of stories

00:08:01.840 from across the political spectrum,

00:08:03.700 compare how different outlets are covering the same story

00:08:06.300 side by side, and contextualize it,

00:08:09.100 including specific differences

00:08:10.540 in how each side is reporting it.

00:08:12.760 That's how you see what whole audiences

00:08:14.540 are not being told.

00:08:15.720 My favorite feature is their blind spot feed.

00:08:17.900 Every day, it flags upwards of 20 stories that are being ignored by either the left or the right.

00:08:23.200 Let's look at some examples.

00:08:24.660 Follow along at ground.news slash trigonometry.

00:08:27.520 Take this story.

00:08:28.560 A Pew Research survey found that 56% of Americans now support banning social media for anyone under 16,

00:08:36.260 with a majority of Republicans and a majority of Democrats behind it.

00:08:40.240 Genuine bipartisan agreement is rare enough to be newsworthy on its own.

00:08:44.120 And yet, coverage came almost entirely from the right.

00:08:47.120 the left barely touched on it. On the other hand, look at this. An AP poll found that 66% of

00:08:52.920 Americans now say democracy is central to what it means to be American, down from 80% five years

00:08:58.700 ago. That is a serious story about how the country sees itself, especially on its 250th anniversary.

00:09:05.320 And it got three times more coverage from the left than it did from the right. Ground news puts all

00:09:09.760 of this in one place. Headline comparisons, bias breakdowns, ownership insights, and context so you

00:09:16.000 can actually understand what's going on, not just react to what you're told. Go to ground.news
