00:00:52.020 are private property presently you are not a registered student staff or faculty at the

00:00:58.500 University of Guelph and therefore are prohibited from entering all University of Guelph properties.

00:01:04.600 Should you be found in violation of this order, you will be charged under the Trespass of Property

00:01:10.100 Act by the Campus Safety Office. This prohibition is in effect for an indefinite period from the

00:01:16.400 date of this letter. A copy of this notice will be forward to the Guelph Police Service for their

00:01:24.840 campus security at Guelph. Well, let me tell you what happened because I did nothing. I literally

00:01:33.560 did nothing. And I had to go back in a diary to find out what we did on March 6th, but here's the

00:01:40.960 story. So on March 6th, in the evening around seven o'clock, I was attending a private religious

00:01:48.600 function at the University of Guelph. And this was open to non-students. I was free to attend.

00:01:54.140 so I did. And while my dad was dropping me off in the parking lot, he strikes up a conversation

00:02:01.580 with some Middle Eastern girls in the car next to us. And I say this only for context,

00:02:08.200 they were Muslim. And he strikes up this conversation and his opener, his opening

00:02:13.200 question was, what do you guys think of the war in Iran? And immediately they take it hostile.

00:02:18.500 and his part for his part he was not hateful or judgy or offensive in any way this was just him

00:02:27.500 trying to make conversation he makes conversation with everyone and it was a very for his part he

00:02:32.980 was not trying to be offensive or hateful at all but they immediately took it with offense

00:02:37.380 and the conversation lasted a minute two minutes maybe and I took no part in it I was already out

00:02:46.020 of the vehicle. I had started to walk away and I was listening from about 10 feet away. I did not

00:02:50.540 take part in the conversation, but the girls took great offense to it. So I went in to the lobby of

00:02:57.680 the building where I was going to be attending the function and the girls come in after me.

00:03:02.460 So I see them, they take a photo of me and then I see them reporting me to the front desk. So I

00:03:08.600 already know, oh, this is trouble, but I did nothing wrong. So I thought I was, I thought

00:03:11.880 everything was fine and nothing would come of it. Well, apparently something did come of it

00:03:17.940 because due to that photo, they recognized me. They must have run our license plate somehow.

00:03:29.660 The trouble is I did literally nothing. I did not engage in the conversation. I only listened to it

00:03:36.380 and noted things. I was a witness to the conversation. And when I received this letter,

00:03:43.640 I reached out immediately to the campus security office to get answers. I wanted to know. And I

00:03:50.800 wanted to tell them my side of the story so they knew that definitely for me, this was not a hate

00:03:56.680 crime. And for my dad as well, this was not a hate crime. This was simply a conversation in which

00:04:01.520 one of the parties was not happy with the topic. It was the war in Iran. Of course, the Muslim

00:04:08.020 community doesn't like that, but there it is. So I reach out. I explain the whole thing. I explain

00:04:18.520 that I was not part of the conversation and that for my dad's part, it was not a hate crime as well.

00:04:23.760 And he's an alumni of the University of Guelph. So this is wrong for him as well. To be banned

00:04:28.980 from his former university is quite wrong. So this is the response that I get from the director

00:04:37.700 of safety at the University of Guelph. Hi, Sarah. Thanks for your email. The tone and intent of the

00:04:44.140 conversation with the students was reported to my office with a different interpretation of the

00:04:49.320 interaction and was indeed unwelcome. The trespass order will remain in place. So here I have already

00:04:58.020 explained that I was not part of the conversation, that I said nothing, that I did not initiate the

00:05:03.880 conversation, and the really, I was far enough away that I really couldn't stop or prevent the

00:05:08.220 conversation. But my trespass order will remain in place. Because I listened to an unwelcome

00:05:16.160 conversation with members of a minority group, I am now banned for life from the University of

00:05:24.820 wealth. So this is really big implications, not just for me, but for all of Unify Action.

00:05:29.600 And we're going to try and fight this. We'll see how things go. I'm hopeful and prayerful that we

00:05:35.260 can actually get something done here. I hope to goodness that they are reasonable and that they

00:05:40.600 will listen to reason. Because this is ridiculous. This is absolute insanity in my case, but this is

00:05:46.060 also insanity in my dad's case. This was just a conversation. If Candace Owens can get away with

00:05:51.920 asking questions, then so can my dad. And this has not just big implications for me, but for

00:05:57.440 everyone really. So they're claiming that it was private property that I was on. The trouble was,

00:06:03.400 it was a visitor's parking lot where anyone could come and pay for parking. It was a public

00:06:08.020 university. If they are lying, if it is not private property, if it is in fact public property,

00:06:13.160 which it's a public university paid for with public dollars, if it's public property,

00:06:18.520 then they are violating the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and my freedom to assemble,

00:06:22.680 and also my father's freedom to assemble. They are violating that this could actually be a bigger

00:06:28.600 deal than we think with them trying to do this. So, this is appalling, it's disgusting,

00:06:35.400 and I do not want this to continue. This has big implications, though. If they do not repeal this,

00:06:42.040 not just for me, but for my dad as well, if they do not take away these notice of trespasses,

00:06:46.360 then we need to spread this thing as big as possible because this is disgusting. This is

00:06:51.360 ridiculous. This was not hate speech. This was someone being unhappy with someone else's tone
