30 seconds, one time for the underdog, ignition sequence start, let me see you put em up, reach
00:00:09.220
the sky, turn the stars up above, cause it's one time for the underdog, one time for the
00:00:17.300
I'm Patrick, I'm your host of Evaluatainment and today we'll be talking about the best
00:00:23.760
All these years I used to be an amateur, a traveler, where I used to be frustrated watching
00:00:28.400
other people go through it swiftly and I was always figuring out a way and it would take
00:00:32.980
a long time so eventually after 15 years of experience I've come together with things
00:00:37.560
that work to become an efficient traveler and hopefully you can take advantage of some
00:00:46.920
How often have you gone on a business trip and you forgot your business cards?
00:00:54.920
How many times have we forgotten this puppy before, right?
00:00:57.020
I have multiple of these in my briefcase, in my car, at the office, in my home, everywhere
00:01:05.040
Have extra phone chargers everywhere for you to not run out of batteries on your phone
00:01:09.180
because how many of us have been on a trip and we had our phone run out of batteries?
00:01:15.000
This is a required thing to have as an entrepreneur in your bag.
00:01:21.220
When you sit on the plane, sanitize your hands.
00:01:23.880
Nowadays they have them at a lot of airports but if they don't, you got to bring your own
00:01:26.680
as well, sanitize your hands, sanitize the table that you're going to put your hands
00:01:30.340
on and the side where you put your arm rest here, sanitize that as well because a lot
00:01:35.100
of times someone's sick, they sneeze, they touch that, you touch your face, you get a
00:01:38.760
As an entrepreneur, you can't afford to do that because one week could set you back a lot
00:01:45.080
Next, all the apps of airlines you fly on, have them on your phone.
00:01:49.260
So if it's American Airlines, Delta, Southwest, have it on your phone.
00:01:52.720
If there's delays, whatever it may be, they send it to you and they tell you if you had
00:01:57.300
All of that stuff will go on your phone so you don't have delays taking place for you.
00:02:02.740
Next, have you ever gone in a line to check in and you do a security checkpoint and you
00:02:08.980
have to take off your shoes, you have to take off your belt, you have to take off your
00:02:14.520
Have you ever done that before and you just sit there and you're wondering, why are these
00:02:17.440
folks on this side, they go to the place that says TSA Pre, they go through the whole thing
00:02:24.700
They must be pilots, they must be flight attendants, they must be CIA, they must be FBI because
00:02:31.060
Well, they came out with a system a few years ago that you yourself can be part of TSA Pre
00:02:39.020
If you look at the screen here, it's by U.S. Customs and Border Protection and so what they
00:02:46.060
If you're an American Express user, that $100 American Express will refund you but if you're
00:02:51.600
not, you pay $100 and that $100, they go through doing a background check on you, misdemeanor,
00:02:58.120
If you come out clear, if you come out clear, you don't need to take off your belt, you don't
00:03:02.840
need to take out your computer, you don't need to take off your shoes and you don't get
00:03:08.480
You go in the TSA pre-line with the airlines that are approved.
00:03:11.940
You don't wait in line for anybody, you simply go in and if you are TSA pre, the other benefits
00:03:18.680
you get is you get bumped up into first class, you get bumped up into business class.
00:03:22.680
Airlines like having people who are TSA pre because they want to feel safe.
00:03:33.400
Another thing is with getting there early, have you ever had on a trip where you go in
00:03:41.820
and all of a sudden you miss your check-in time and they say it's within 45 minutes, you
00:03:45.680
can't check in your bag, you're upset because they say you need to wait for the next flight
00:03:49.320
five hours and you're going to miss this appointment you were supposed to make and you don't know
00:03:55.840
Here's one way that works and you can do it every time.
00:03:58.800
So they are not allowing you get on the flight because the check-in for the bag is too late.
00:04:05.140
You can get your ticket for yourself, even if you're late, you get the ticket.
00:04:09.600
You check your bag on the next flight, even if it's five hours later.
00:04:13.120
You get on your flight, you make your meeting, five hours later your bag will land in the
00:04:20.120
You can simply send somebody to go pick up your bag and bring it to you.
00:04:23.500
This happened to me on a trip to New Mexico, I was being interviewed on NBC, same exact thing
00:04:28.280
happened, got on my flight, went there, my bag showed up six hours later, we were squirted away,
00:04:31.920
I made it on my TV show that I was supposed to be in, everybody went home happy.
00:04:35.220
So that's something to keep in mind if you are going to be late.
00:04:37.700
Now the point is this, if you're going to a business meeting with an agenda, have your
00:04:41.420
assistant or staff print out an agenda with as much details on it as possible.
00:04:45.620
Who you're meeting with, information about the meeting you're having with the person,
00:04:48.860
what's the outcome of it, what are they wanting, what do we want, who are you going to meet
00:04:53.080
at this time, who are you going to go have to meet at this place, the details, name of the
00:04:57.720
person, all those details you're going to have, the more info they give you, the better
00:05:03.440
Next thing, when I travel on my phone, I have in one of my notes section that writes out
00:05:09.320
exactly the restaurants I've been, all the cities all over the world I go, I have a place
00:05:14.840
in my notes section that tells me, in this city I go to these three restaurants, this
00:05:18.580
restaurant I order sushi, at this restaurant I order Italian, at this restaurant I order
00:05:22.020
this, and then it tells me what things I've ordered before that I like the most, food.
00:05:26.960
I have it in my phone, couple reasons why you need them when you go back, it's tough
00:05:30.360
to find good restaurants, the other thing is when you know a friend that's going to
00:05:33.440
a certain city, you can always recommend a good restaurant to them.
00:05:36.720
Next, Southwest Airlines, if you're flying on Southwest Airlines and you want to get an
00:05:40.040
aisle seat, or you want to get an exit seat, aisle seat, there's A, B, C, because you know
00:05:47.280
If you're before B30, you'll normally get an aisle seat, after B30, it's tough to get an
00:05:53.140
aisle seat. If you want an exit seat, you've got to be before A30. Generally, if you're
00:05:58.540
below A30, A25, you'll get yourself an exit seat, if you want an exit seat with Southwest
00:06:03.800
Airlines. Another thing is with American Express Lounge, you have these airport lounge, if you
00:06:08.820
have a delay on your flight or any of that stuff, an American Express Platinum card allows
00:06:13.320
you to go into the lounges that they have at different airports, as well as a few different
00:06:17.140
cards, the diner card, the Centurion card. If you're a, you know, Platinum Flyer member,
00:06:23.040
with any of these airlines, you have some advantages to go to these lounges. They have
00:06:26.640
chargers there, they have TVs there, they have bars there, they have restaurants there.
00:06:30.260
It's quiet, you're sitting with other business people as well when you go there.
00:06:34.160
Another point here, when I'm traveling, I don't use taxi, I use Uber. Uber is a great
00:06:37.920
app to pick up, download, use, they're very effective, they're very efficient, they're
00:06:42.000
very fast, you get a lot of discounts, it's a good system to use. When you land, when you
00:06:47.240
land, write a note, give it to the pilot, say thank you for a safe landing, put your business
00:06:52.400
card in there, you'd be surprised how many times that pilot that sees you on another
00:06:55.460
flight will greet you and sometimes there's additional perks that comes with it. Another
00:06:59.620
thing, when you go to an airport and you go to SkyCab, you know the SkyCab is a curbside
00:07:04.480
assistant where they take your bags and they check in instead of going inside and waiting
00:07:07.980
15 minutes. When you do that, know that they work for tips. Always have cash with you to tip
00:07:13.780
them. One dollar per bag if they don't have to take you to the front. If they have to take
00:07:19.340
it to the front, it's $2 per bag. You give them three bags, it's $6. You give them five
00:07:23.260
bags, it's $10. Just keep that rule. One dollar if they're not taking it in, $2 if they are
00:07:28.160
taking it in with the bags. And last but not least, I am not a fan of Wi-Fi on planes.
00:07:35.660
I know a lot of people do a lot of business on planes with Wi-Fi. I'm not. I think flights
00:07:40.240
are great opportunities as an entrepreneur and a businessman to have a therapeutic moment
00:07:46.000
of just taking a break from the world. And we need that as entrepreneurs. My suggestion,
00:07:52.400
read, write letters, reflect. That's what I do on my flights. It gives me a break from
00:07:59.680
the world. I love to read. I love to write. I love to write letters. I love to sit there
00:08:04.460
and reflect about life and just take notes about what's been happening with life and
00:08:07.380
how I can improve and how I can do this and how I can do that. Great time to do it. That's
00:08:11.500
typically as an entrepreneur businessman that's going a million miles an hour, you need your
00:08:15.100
break. Flights are those breaks for you. Take advantage of it. Don't waste your money
00:08:20.620
on Wi-Fi. You'll be more thankful you didn't when you land because you're in a better state,
00:08:26.100
better place. Thanks everybody for listening. And by the way, if you haven't already subscribed
