00:00:00.000 30 seconds, one time for the underdog, ignition sequence start, let me see you put em up, reach
00:00:09.240 the sky, turn the stars up above, cause it's one time for the underdog, one time for the
00:00:16.240 underdog.
00:00:17.240 I'm Patrick Biddy, your host of Value Timmy, and today I'm going to give you five books
00:00:20.540 to read this summer as an entrepreneur.
00:00:22.820 First book, High Output Management by Andy Grove.
00:00:25.980 Andy Grove was the former Man of the Year Time Magazine, 1997, he passed away three years
00:00:32.240 ago, he wrote another book that I love called Only the Paranoid Survive, just so everybody
00:00:36.580 knows, majority of the management companies, companies in Silicon Valley that have management
00:00:41.800 philosophies, they swear by Andy Grove.
00:00:44.360 Andy Grove is, every way he wrote, like everything about how to take your lunch break, how to
00:00:50.120 do your meetings, how to orchestrate a meeting, how to do accountability, everything he wrote
00:00:55.560 in this book, in this one manual.
00:00:57.040 So, again, what you'll notice about every book I'm recommending to you for this summer
00:01:01.600 is, every one of them has to do with you becoming a better leader, better executive, better CEO,
00:01:06.680 better at giving, you know, feedback, coaching to the people that you work with, and this
00:01:11.200 is probably at the top of the list of these five books.
00:01:13.720 So, High Output Management by Andy Grove.
00:01:15.680 Next one, it's called Trillion Dollar Coach.
00:01:18.040 It's the story of Bill Campbell.
00:01:19.340 Bill Campbell, the reason why they call him the Trillion Dollar Coach, and it's written
00:01:23.920 by Eric Schmidt, which I think was the former executive chairman of Google for like 14 years,
00:01:29.260 some timeline like that.
00:01:30.940 And Bill Campbell was a football coach before, and he started coaching and mentoring multiple
00:01:37.220 founders and CEOs that built Trillion Dollar Companies, such as Gates, Jobs, Bezos.
00:01:43.780 Like, he is a legend on what he did, and his style of leadership is very, very unique.
00:01:50.700 When his funeral came, I mean, it must have been the richest funeral ever with people with
00:01:55.440 the highest net were being there, and everybody has something to say about him, about how he
00:02:00.420 impacted their lives.
00:02:02.140 Good luck trying to put this book down.
00:02:03.900 You will not be able to put this book down.
00:02:05.600 The Trillion Dollar Coach, highly recommend you go get it ASAP.
00:02:08.520 Next one, the seal next door.
00:02:10.480 This is about a study they did, I think, around 2,600 different CEOs, and identifying the four
00:02:16.160 drivers that helped somebody become a great CEO, and four drivers that get people to want
00:02:20.240 to work with a CEO, and then they went a little bit deeper than that.
00:02:23.000 I'm not going to get into everything, but it's a very powerful book for you to realize out of
00:02:27.520 these 2,600 leaders, CEOs that they studied, what trends did they come up with?
00:02:32.000 What kind of clues did it leave on what did well and what didn't do well?
00:02:35.740 Well, so again, another great book to read this summer is The Seal Next Door by Elena
00:02:40.700 Botello and Kim Powell.
00:02:42.780 Phenomenal book.
00:02:43.900 This one I also couldn't put down to the point where I had everybody in our company read it.
00:02:48.620 It's called Multipliers by Liz Wiseman.
00:02:51.240 It's the story of how some people in organizations, they're always multiplying themselves.
00:02:56.720 They're developing other leaders, and some are diminishers.
00:02:59.880 And you'll notice an organization doesn't at all build any leaders, or somebody you watch
00:03:04.460 and you'll say, you know, I'd never see that person ever build leaders around them.
00:03:07.520 Why is that?
00:03:08.260 Because there are certain tendencies that diminishes people around you versus multiplies
00:03:12.980 people around you.
00:03:13.940 And she gets really deep into it on exactly what it is to be a multiplier.
00:03:18.180 So another great book I recommend to you for this summer.
00:03:20.620 And last but not least, somebody I had as a guest before.
00:03:23.440 I've never recommended this book.
00:03:25.200 Highly recommend this book.
00:03:26.560 Sold nearly 4 million copies.
00:03:28.180 It's by Jordan Peterson called 12 Rules for Life.
00:03:32.520 If you haven't read this book yet, I will tell you one thing about Jordan Peterson.
00:03:37.380 The way he thinks is very different.
00:03:39.840 Very different.
00:03:40.580 The way he breaks things down, very different.
00:03:43.060 If you're a man wanting to find out what it is on a way men are wired to be a man's man,
00:03:49.480 he breaks it down in here.
00:03:50.560 If you're a woman who is dating or is trying to figure out how men are in business world,
00:03:55.760 in personal life, he explains it in a way that's better than any book I've read.
00:04:00.760 12 Rules of Life.
00:04:01.780 And then it applies to every aspect of your life as well.
00:04:04.780 Again, there's a reason why he's got a few billion views on Facebook and YouTube combined.
00:04:08.840 Everybody is curious to know how this man Jordan Peterson thinks.
00:04:13.100 So, five book recommendations.
00:04:15.280 Read the books.
00:04:16.040 Let me know what you take away from them.
