In this episode, I tell the story of what happened to me yesterday at a place called the Ninja Warrior Place, a place where they do Ninja Warrior challenges and obstacle course events. It's a place for kids to have a birthday party, but it's also a place to do ninja warrior challenges for adults. In this episode I explain what happened and how it almost killed me.

00:00:00.000 If you just started a business, you just became an entrepreneur, you just got into a new industry
00:00:26.000 Or maybe you just got into sales and you're about to throw in the towel because nothing seems to go your way
00:00:31.780 Today's message is for you
00:00:33.280 Let me explain to you what happened to me yesterday
00:00:35.020 Yesterday, my 8-year-old son's friend has a birthday at this place called the Ninja Warrior Place, Strong Warrior Place
00:00:41.540 So my wife and our three kids go to this place and it's a nice place, it's got a gym on one side
00:00:45.600 And in the back it has the whole obstacle course for the kids and then there's the adult section where they do tournaments
00:00:51.340 So by the time my kids were kind of done doing their thing and they're kind of having fun and they found their friends
00:00:55.860 I started kind of adventuring and finding out what they have at this place
00:00:59.140 So I go to the gym, they have the pull-up bar, they have the ropes
00:01:01.940 And then all of a sudden I see these walls that I've seen before
00:01:04.940 You know, these, they call them the Warped Wall, right?
00:01:07.400 They use them in these Ninja Warrior stuff
00:01:09.360 So I look and I'm like, how tall is this one?
00:01:11.280 10 feet
00:01:11.760 Okay, I think I can do this one
00:01:13.080 So I run up and I make it, I come down
00:01:15.260 Then I'm walking and I see a couple other things and I see these two walls
00:01:18.540 One is green, one is blue
00:01:19.960 I look at the guy, the instructor, I'm like, let me ask you a question
00:01:22.640 How tall is that one?
00:01:23.580 That one's 12 feet
00:01:24.260 How about this one?
00:01:24.900 That's massive
00:01:25.420 Oh, that's the tournament one, that's 14 feet
00:01:27.540 14 feet, that's what they use in Ninja Warrior tournaments 0.98
00:01:30.460 That's 14 feet
00:01:31.280 14 feet, yes, it looks like the Wall of China when you look at it, right?
00:01:36.740 So let me give a shot with the 12 foot one
00:01:38.500 I look at it, I'm going, going, going, hesitating, coming back
00:01:40.860 Finally I run, I make the 12 footer
00:01:42.940 I come back down
00:01:44.160 Then I'm looking at the 14 foot wall
00:01:45.720 And when you look at this blue wall, it just looks impossible
00:01:48.940 Especially if you've never done it before
00:01:50.100 I'm not a CrossFit guy, I'm not a Ninja Warrior guy
00:01:52.780 I lift weights, I do cardio
00:01:53.980 That's pretty much what I do
00:01:55.360 Some other exercises that I do, boxing and fighting, right?
00:01:57.880 So I'm watching this thing
00:02:00.840 And right before I'm testing this out
00:02:02.680 And I'm kind of doing some steps
00:02:03.780 And I'm hesitating a little bit
00:02:05.080 One father comes and he's like
00:02:06.800 Yeah, let me do this
00:02:07.500 His wife and kids are there
00:02:08.300 Wife starts recording 0.99
00:02:09.140 He runs up
00:02:10.680 He falls on his back so bad
00:02:13.060 It was embarrassing
00:02:13.860 His kids are there
00:02:14.640 People are watching
00:02:15.320 It was terrible
00:02:16.340 So I'm standing in front of this thing
00:02:18.580 Thinking the same thing's going to happen to me
00:02:20.940 As this father that just happened
00:02:22.080 My wife is there watching this 0.60
00:02:23.200 She's been recording for 10 minutes
00:02:25.300 Because I said record
00:02:26.600 I'm going to try to make this thing here
00:02:27.740 10 minutes later my wife leaves 1.00
00:02:29.440 She's like, babe, I've got to go see where the kids are on
00:02:31.020 My wife leaves, okay?
00:02:33.460 She comes back
00:02:34.200 She says, what are you doing?
00:02:35.040 They announce they're closing the gym down
00:02:36.640 The birthday's over with
00:02:37.620 You guys got to leave
00:02:38.760 And I'm telling the guy
00:02:39.580 I said, listen, I've got to try this thing
00:02:40.680 Because if I go home tonight
00:02:42.700 Without at least trying to give my best for this thing
00:02:45.580 And knowing that my best isn't good enough to go up there
00:02:49.040 I can't go to sleep
00:02:50.180 But I have to at least know that I give my best
00:02:52.100 So another 20 minutes goes
00:02:54.220 The guy's like, listen, we're closing up the gym
00:02:55.900 I said, just let me
00:02:56.800 So my wife starts recording 0.96
00:02:58.700 Then I run up
00:02:59.760 I don't make it
00:03:00.640 I run up
00:03:01.260 I don't make it
00:03:01.940 I run up
00:03:02.440 I don't make it
00:03:02.900 And a couple times I hesitate
00:03:03.920 Finally he comes up
00:03:05.160 He whispers to me
00:03:05.900 He says, listen
00:03:06.340 Can I just give you some counsel?
00:03:08.180 I said, yes
00:03:08.580 Nice 28-year-old guy
00:03:09.720 29-year-old guy
00:03:10.600 He says, if I can just be honest with you
00:03:12.860 You're not committed to this jump
00:03:14.320 The only way this jump is going to work out for you
00:03:17.540 Is you have to be totally committed
00:03:18.980 I said, what do you mean?
00:03:20.200 I was almost like a little bit offended by it
00:03:21.940 He says, you're not committed to this jump
00:03:23.340 But he's saying it to me
00:03:24.300 With a smile on his face
00:03:25.300 Very respectful
00:03:26.000 I said, tell me why
00:03:27.440 He says, every time you jump
00:03:29.760 Your left hand hits the wall
00:03:31.220 And the reason why you're doing that
00:03:33.320 Is because you're scared
00:03:34.600 That you're not going to make it
00:03:36.360 In your mind
00:03:37.380 You're already coming down
00:03:38.740 Because you're trying to protect yourself
00:03:40.500 You think you're going to hit the wall
00:03:41.620 He says, the only way this works
00:03:43.580 Is you have to run up
00:03:44.600 And then your hands have to go like this
00:03:46.580 You're not doing that
00:03:47.640 You're going like this
00:03:48.500 So I said, okay
00:03:51.340 Let me see what's going to happen this time
00:03:53.200 So I start looking at the wall
00:03:54.940 And I'm asking myself
00:03:55.840 Are you really fully committed to this?
00:03:57.680 What's the worst thing that's going to happen?
00:03:59.740 Worst thing that's going to happen
00:04:00.640 Is you're going to fall like that father
00:04:01.760 Maybe a little bit more
00:04:02.580 Because you're 20 pounds heavier than him
00:04:03.940 So it could be a little bit worse than that
00:04:06.080 But that's the worst thing that's going to happen
00:04:07.620 Okay, no problem
00:04:09.120 I'm fully committed
00:04:10.020 Go for it
00:04:10.880 And I take the steps
00:04:12.920 And all of a sudden I jump up
00:04:14.400 And I make it
00:04:15.400 Once I'm up there
00:04:17.060 I pull myself up
00:04:18.100 I hit the board
00:04:19.540 Because I'm excited
00:04:20.460 I come down
00:04:21.020 My daughter comes
00:04:21.800 I pick her up
00:04:22.420 My wife is saying
00:04:23.660 So you want to say anything?
00:04:25.100 I said, prior to me doing this
00:04:26.320 I did this many times
00:04:27.180 And I'm sweating
00:04:28.400 I'm sweating
00:04:29.180 I did it twice
00:04:30.520 Just to know that I didn't get lucky
00:04:32.120 Why am I sharing this story with you?
00:04:33.840 Let me tell you why I'm sharing this story with you
00:04:35.180 Look
00:04:35.400 I know a lot of people that I advise
00:04:37.720 That run businesses
00:04:38.480 That get into sales for the first time
00:04:39.900 Or they're entrepreneurs
00:04:40.600 Or they put some money into their business
00:04:41.940 And it doesn't work out for them
00:04:42.960 And they fail miserably
00:04:44.420 They blame the industry
00:04:45.380 They blame everything
00:04:46.200 But they don't look back
00:04:47.760 And ask themselves the one question
00:04:49.180 Before you threw in the towel
00:04:51.560 Did you ever fully commit
00:04:54.400 To making this business work?
00:04:56.000 Let me explain to you what I mean by this
00:04:57.440 Did you fully commit to the jump?
00:05:00.240 Or did the wall of China scare you?
00:05:01.880 Because that's what it looked like
00:05:02.760 It looked like a wall of China
00:05:03.740 You have your own wall of China 0.95
00:05:05.420 When you're going up in your business
00:05:06.680 You don't know if you can do the business
00:05:08.560 You're afraid
00:05:09.640 What if this doesn't work out?
00:05:10.700 What if you lose the money?
00:05:11.900 What if your friends, your peers, people tell you
00:05:13.700 I knew you could never be an entrepreneur
00:05:15.140 You could never make it in real estate
00:05:16.380 You thought you can go into sales and make this
00:05:18.040 You can't get into financial industry
00:05:20.160 I knew you couldn't do it
00:05:21.360 And that's in the back of your head
00:05:22.300 And in the back of your head
00:05:23.120 You were saying worst case scenario
00:05:24.320 I'm going to go back to what I was doing
00:05:25.800 You're not committed
00:05:26.820 So whatever you're doing right now
00:05:29.340 Whatever you're doing right now
00:05:30.620 If you're not going to commit
00:05:32.700 Stop doing it
00:05:33.880 If you're willing to commit
00:05:36.800 And know that there may be some consequences
00:05:39.680 Then go for it
00:05:41.400 One doesn't go without the other
00:05:43.040 By the way, this applies to every aspect of your life
00:05:45.280 Family, parenting, marriage, relationship, finance
00:05:48.060 Getting into shape
00:05:48.820 So whatever you got going on
00:05:51.020 I know this is maybe not the news you wanted to hear today
00:05:53.740 Because you were hoping I could give you an out
00:05:55.260 Moving forward this week

00:06:13.440 Your chances goes up dramatically
00:06:15.840 80%, 90% if you fully commit to making it work

00:06:40.940 If you only know how scared I was
00:06:42.500 And how much I was hesitating
