Valuetainment - “He’s a Capital G” - The Rock Dragged Into Hollywood Political War

00:00:00.000 a story about The Rock, which is like, hey, Rock, we want you to talk politics.

00:00:06.220 You're famous.

00:00:07.260 You got 500 million followers on social media.

00:00:10.260 Why are you not bashing Trump?

00:00:11.920 And The Rock's like, dude, let me just do my thing.

00:00:13.400 Leave me alone, man.

00:00:13.960 Let me just go out there and do my, what is the show and the cartoon

00:00:17.960 and all this stuff that I'm doing.

00:00:19.560 Why are you bothering me?

00:00:20.840 Let me live my life.

00:00:21.940 Nope.

00:00:22.760 We need you to criticize.

00:00:24.220 So let me read this to you.

00:00:25.120 Hollywood stars began lashing out at Dwayne Johnson on Monday

00:00:29.780 after he reiterated his stance to keep his personal politics out of public eye

00:00:34.460 after telling Esquire earlier this month that he hates the slinging of modern politics.

00:00:39.540 Star Trek alum George Takai and Stand By Me actor Will Wheaton

00:00:45.760 took to social media to slam Johnson with Taki arguing that his silence makes him complicit.

00:00:54.200 The Rock's recent comments to Esquire about wanting to keep my politics to myself

00:00:59.780 has divided fans with some calling his silence, Taki wrote on threads.

00:01:04.220 He then replied to his post on Monday, writing silence his complicity.

00:01:08.100 Wheaton also called out Johnson in a thread post, later deleted, 0.97

00:01:11.460 that was reported by Entertainment Weekly, writing so disappointing to find that he is such a coward.

00:01:16.540 However, some came to Johnson's defense online, including comedian Matt Reif,

00:01:20.540 who took on X to mock Wheaton's coward comments. 1.00

00:01:23.100 I love how he's a coward, but could quite literally tear Will's throat out through his asshole. 1.00

00:01:31.240 Rife wrote on a Wednesday, adding this internet comment, world is so bold. 1.00

00:01:36.020 The controversy stems from Johnson's Esquire interview.

00:01:39.320 For the magazine's summer 2026 cover story, the actor known for starring in the Fast and Furious franchise,

00:01:45.700 as well as Jumanji films, explained why he'll be keeping his political views private from now on.

00:01:50.280 What I learned through experience is that I need to keep, need, not want the main thing, the main thing, I said.

00:01:56.620 And the main thing for me is the thing that in the morning I swing my legs out of bed and I run towards is creating.

00:02:01.780 It's art.

00:02:02.380 It's storytelling.

00:02:03.140 I've learned I'm going to keep my politics to myself.

00:02:05.600 Good for him.

00:02:06.340 What do you think about what he said here?

00:02:07.440 Listen, Pat, for someone that was in Hollywood and learned really, really quick, you open your mouth or you say something funny.

00:02:15.300 I said something about, because this was, by the way, I was in during 2016, 15, I was

00:02:21.440 going on stage and I was making funny jokes.

00:02:22.980 I was seeing Trump.

00:02:23.820 I never cared about Trump.

00:02:25.800 When I saw Trump at the Apprentice J fight, I was just like, yeah, whatever, whatever.

00:02:29.520 So I went on stage and I was making jokes.

00:02:32.160 I got off stage and the owner of the comedy club, and I'm not going to say who it was,

00:02:36.600 was like this.

00:02:37.440 Hey, you can't, you can't be going up there and talking positive about this.

00:02:41.140 And I'm like, wait, what?

00:02:42.680 I go, I thought this was a comedy club.

00:02:43.920 so i wasn't getting stage time because i was talking positive about trump so that being said

00:02:49.420 it could ruin your entire career because this game and we all know this past oh also this i went to

00:02:54.800 get a comedy booker a person to book me for comedy and they're like i came to see me headline crushed

00:03:01.400 it standing ovation i went for the gusto you know what he said yeah i can't sell you you're not

00:03:07.080 you're not mainstream i'm like what are you talking about i go on middle eastern i could

00:03:10.260 I think the ambiguous I could play whatever they're like yeah you're a Republican literally

00:03:15.440 said that and this is a big comedy booker manager agent whatever that you want to call them and I

00:03:20.800 realize it either you go listen either you're political or you're not this is a business

00:03:26.620 decision and good for him because once you go full you know I mean there's no coming back once

00:03:31.600 they label you especially Hollywood it's over for you ever feel the need for more find it in

00:04:05.800 Because I think he's one of us, Matt.

00:04:06.960 What do you think Rock is deep down in his life?

00:04:09.260 If I had to bet all my money, he's one of us.

00:04:12.140 I think he's a center-right guy.

00:04:14.000 Absolutely.

00:04:14.760 Who's socially, maybe liberal or whatever.

00:04:17.360 But I think the guy's a capitalist.

00:04:20.660 He lives like a capitalist.

00:04:21.760 He lives like a conservative.

00:04:22.860 Now leave him alone.

00:04:24.040 And by the way, I respect the hell out of him for doing this.

00:04:26.400 Good for him.

00:04:27.260 Let him go create his art.

00:04:28.580 And I hope eventually he chooses to run.

00:04:31.440 I hope eventually he chooses to run.

00:04:33.540 But I don't think he's done creating.

00:04:35.360 I don't think he's done creating.

00:04:36.940 What is Rock's age, by the way?

00:04:38.740 How old is Rock?

00:04:39.540 Is he in his 40s?

00:04:41.620 Is he in his 50s?

00:04:42.320 No, he's got to be in his 50s.

00:04:43.720 Good for him, man.

00:04:44.620 He looks great.

00:04:45.200 So he's in his 50s, 54 years old.

00:04:47.140 Look, when that age hits six, and you want to kind of go and be a trifecta

00:04:52.500 because he's going to be a billionaire.

00:04:54.100 He's the biggest superstar, bigger than Arnold ever was.

00:04:57.380 So if he's a billionaire, Arnold never became a billionaire.

00:04:59.640 If he's a superstar and he becomes a president, then he officially becomes one of two.

00:05:04.140 you know why he becomes one of two because it's him and trump yeah trump was a billionaire

00:05:08.540 superstar on tv and he goes and becomes a president he could it could only be two of rocks

00:05:14.780 and he's in the camp with trump he could pull it off but take your time yeah take your time

00:05:19.260 adam i think uh rock at the end of the day he's just a talented dude i don't think he wants to

00:05:25.220 be in politics have you interviewed him you had a great interview with him his story's amazing his

00:05:29.860 his relationship with his father his ex-wife everything that he's done is doing i think rock

00:05:35.880 at the end of the day you know the one thing that he wants to be i think he wants to be liked

00:05:39.900 i genuinely believe that i think when he was younger and more of a football player and a

00:05:43.700 wrestler it was clearly more pro-america conservative type values then he got into

00:05:49.440 hollywood and i think at one point he had to literally put on a dress and to see that side

00:05:53.500 of the things right uh twinkle twinkle that whole situation i think rock is someone who

00:05:59.680 doesn't look in terms of politics

00:06:02.100 and divisiveness, I think

00:06:04.100 he's generally a synergist. I think he's the type of person

00:06:06.220 that any reasonable person on

00:06:08.120 the left or on the right says, I like The Rock.

00:06:10.200 Now, if you're a hardcore person on the right, you're not

00:06:12.140 going to like The Rock. If you're a hardcore person on the

00:06:14.100 left, if you're a weak coward like this guy 0.99

00:06:15.980 calling out The Rock who would never say anything to his face, 1.00

00:06:18.580 calls him a coward, you're probably not

00:06:20.120 going to like him. But at the end of the day, Rock is a likable

00:06:22.040 guy, and he will be a billionaire,

00:06:24.400 and he loves America. That's what it comes down to.

00:06:26.120 Let me tell you, to say he's likable

00:06:28.200 would be an understatement.

00:06:29.680 to say he's like, I learned

00:06:32.100 so much about the guy

00:06:33.320 when we had him at the vault two years ago

00:06:36.040 based on, he says, Pat, whatever

00:06:38.100 they're doing lets you and I talk. And we

00:06:40.040 would talk on Sunday. He's like, okay, are you

00:06:42.020 good with this? He said, Pat, I'm good with that.

00:06:43.860 Okay, great. Let's go. The interview. No, we needed

00:06:45.920 to be cut down to 20 minutes. Brock's like,

00:06:48.280 let's talk. We talked on the phone. He's like, no,

00:06:49.960 I'm good. Let's release it. Boom. Great.

00:06:52.720 I learned so much

00:06:54.160 about how he deals behind closed doors.

00:06:56.360 Like, you know, this Republican gubernatorial

00:06:58.000 debate that we did yeah i learned about every candidate not on stage behind closed doors how

00:07:03.260 they were you'll learn about them behind closed doors and then you give them props in front of

00:07:07.360 everybody to showing up which they did yeah so i i learned a lot about the rock doing you know

00:07:12.280 dealing with them behind closed i was very impressed with them what was the one thing that

00:07:15.300 you remember about dealing with the rock what impressed you the most guy he's a man's man he's

00:07:19.540 a freaking dude you would like he's like he's a g yeah yeah yeah he's and by the way at the highest 0.54

00:07:25.020 level i mean it would be an understatement he's a capital g is what he is by the way we got to 0.97

00:07:30.360 give a shout out to the rock very personal charisma when you meet him he doesn't dylan he

00:07:35.560 talked to the kids he talked to everybody no he's cool and we give a shout out to the rocks
