Valuetainment - Ronaldo Downplays His World Cup Defeat

00:00:00.000 A story came out, I think it was from Calci, and Calci said ticket prices of the World Cup have dropped 60%.

00:00:07.320 That's crazy.

00:00:08.080 Since U.S. and Portugal is out.

00:00:10.960 And we saw how U.S. lost.

00:00:12.140 Belgium.

00:00:12.880 Unbelievable. 1.00

00:00:14.040 It was incredible to why.

00:00:15.440 It was humiliating.

00:00:17.440 And by the way, Polisic is getting trashed right now by a bunch of different people,

00:00:22.280 and Landon Donovan came out and said this is what's going to happen, all this other stuff.

00:00:26.240 But there was a big camp around the world that wanted to see Portugal and Ronaldo win its first World Cup.

00:00:34.360 And they lost.

00:00:35.960 They lost.

00:00:36.660 When they lost, there was an interview that was done afterwards.

00:00:39.740 I don't know if you have the clip of the interview.

00:00:41.120 There was an interview that was done afterwards with Ronaldo.

00:00:44.040 And a lot of people in the marketplace are talking about the same.

00:00:46.420 Look, this is why he is not Messi.

00:00:50.380 This is what the market is saying.

00:00:52.140 Where he said, I want you to see this.

00:00:54.160 And look, to the people that are Ronaldo fans, I know we're going to get it.

00:00:57.320 And I want to hear it.

00:00:58.040 I want you to give your thoughts on this.

00:00:59.600 But is this how a champion speaks?

00:01:02.220 Maybe you like this kind of conversation.

00:01:04.120 Go ahead.

00:01:04.420 Play the clip.

00:01:07.700 I've won three titles for Portugal.

00:01:09.680 Before Cristiano, Portugal did not win a single title.

00:01:12.660 The best title I have won with Portugal is the Euro 2016.

00:01:18.160 Honestly, for me, Euro 2016 is like winning the World Cup.

00:01:21.640 Repito, salvo de consciencia tranquila de mi mejor.

00:01:23.740 Again, I leave with clear conscience and give in my best.

00:01:27.340 Tomorrow will be a new day, then life will go on.

00:01:30.180 How do you feel about that answer right there to say before Cristiano,

00:01:35.280 meaning before Cristiano, he's talking to himself as a,

00:01:38.800 before Cristiano, and then saying that 2016 Euro

00:01:43.320 is the same exact thing as winning the World Cup.

00:01:45.260 like listen talented awesome family father all around amazing amazing he's a net positive to

00:01:54.800 the sport to to society for his country but that attitude after you don't make it it's kind of like

00:02:00.900 hey i'm i'm good i'm really nasty portugal wouldn't have nothing without me and by the way

00:02:06.580 i already won something that to me is just as important if not better than the world cup

00:02:11.600 bro have some humility you you know what you know what he could have basically said hey it wasn't in

00:02:16.920 my cards but you know what I've had a great career I represent my country I love my country good luck

00:02:22.220 to everybody else that's simple not me me me and I've already done this this this and that's why

00:02:27.820 with all due respect to all the people out there they're gonna get pissed off there's Messi and

00:02:32.180 then there's Ronaldo there's no question it's not even in the same conversation and I'm sorry to put

00:02:37.400 but you think Messi would ever say some crazy stuff like that

00:02:40.880 if he was in his position?

00:02:42.020 Honestly, if he was in his position, would he ever say,

00:02:44.960 hey, Argentina would be nothing without Messi

00:02:47.720 and Messi, Messi, Messi?

00:02:49.460 Come on.

00:02:50.040 I don't know about that, but to me,

00:02:52.520 like whether Messi would say that,

00:02:53.500 a lot of people would say Messi would never say that, right?

00:02:55.300 These are true Messi fans, they would never say that.

00:02:57.440 But to say it was the same thing,

00:02:59.440 like it's the same thing as though,

00:03:01.220 Tom, how do you process that?

00:03:02.260 Because I want to share some numbers here with you guys.

00:03:04.200 well to say uh without me they wouldn't have got anything that's pure ego that's not team that's

00:03:10.900 ego and then to say well you know euro 2016 is the same as a world cup what i mean no one thinks

00:03:17.520 that no one agrees with that there's not one person anywhere that's just denial and between

00:03:22.260 ego and denial uh sports illustrated said that the statement was painfully on brand meaning this

00:03:30.660 Who said that? Sports Illustrated?

00:03:32.520 He said it was painfully on brand.

00:03:34.940 Meaning no one's surprised that he said this because he was known as...

00:03:38.600 This is him walking off at the last World Cup,

00:03:42.060 chasing the money when other players wouldn't chase the money in Saudi Arabia.

00:03:47.120 They're just saying, hey, this is on brand. This is ego and denial.

00:03:50.920 Yeah. The way I look at it is I went back and looked at the 2016 Euro that he won

00:03:56.840 when he says he believes it's the same as the World Cup.

00:03:59.260 You know who he didn't face?

00:04:00.660 Where was Neymar in 2016?

00:04:02.880 How good was Neymar in 2016?

00:04:04.900 2016?

00:04:06.080 Neymar was 10 times better than today.

00:04:08.920 2016.

00:04:09.580 Neymar was Neymar.

00:04:10.320 The height of his power.

00:04:11.520 He didn't face Messi.

00:04:12.740 You didn't beat Messi.

00:04:13.580 You didn't beat Suarez.

00:04:14.580 Suarez was good at the time.

00:04:15.720 You think about Uruguay.

00:04:16.960 You didn't face James Rodriguez.

00:04:18.400 You didn't face Alexis Sanchez.

00:04:19.760 Alexis Sanchez.

00:04:20.820 Arturo Vidal from Chile, which we got our guy here.

00:04:24.020 Mohamed Saleh.

00:04:24.980 This is at their peak.

00:04:26.220 You didn't beat these guys.

00:04:27.820 And by the way, Zlatan didn't play in the final Euros.

00:04:29.720 There was a couple of guys that didn't even play.

00:04:32.000 But when you think about the comments being made saying like, hey, I believe, I don't

00:04:38.380 know which one of the players, Carmelo, and what one of the NBA players says, I believe

00:04:41.460 winning the gold medal is bigger than winning the NBA championship.

00:04:44.740 It's not.

00:04:46.180 It's not.

00:04:46.920 It's a lot harder to win an NBA championship to win a gold medal.

00:04:49.120 No, but it's not.

00:04:50.080 They make these arguments.

00:04:51.320 Charles Barkley said it best.

00:04:52.700 I'm not a champion.

00:04:54.440 And he criticized himself.

00:04:55.860 He says, I've never won.

00:04:57.220 You're right.

00:04:57.640 I've never won.

00:04:58.360 And there's nothing more important.

00:04:59.940 And stop saying it doesn't mean.

00:05:01.560 I don't like the comments to be said.

00:05:04.020 I think there could have been a different position for him to make.

00:05:06.180 But I will tell you, there's something in soccer they do once every 30 years, 40 years.

00:05:11.900 It's called Super Ballon d'Or, which the Super one, I believe it's coming up in 2029.

00:05:18.480 If you pull up who won the last Super Ballon d'Or, it's the Estefano.

00:05:27.040 What's his full name?

00:05:28.360 DiStefano, he won the last Super Ballon d'Or,

00:05:32.480 and it was in 1989.

00:05:34.880 In three years, they're going to announce the next one.

00:05:39.200 Let's just say Messi wins the World Cup.

00:05:41.300 I don't think they're going to win it.

00:05:42.300 I think France just looks too dominant,

00:05:43.800 and if Egypt almost beat them,

00:05:46.820 I think France can probably beat these guys. 0.72

00:05:49.600 And by the way, France has to beat Morocco. 0.89

00:05:51.060 Norway looks good. 0.95

00:05:51.880 There's just too much competition.

00:05:53.280 England even looks good.

00:05:54.500 I mean, this is a very competitive part.

00:05:57.120 but to make comments like that who was it Alfredo Di Stefano yeah that's the last

00:06:03.380 you know so now if they give the next one in 2029 I just don't like going that way I was

00:06:09.480 rooting for Ronaldo the entire time I was rooting for Ronaldo the entire time I wanted this guy to

00:06:14.000 win because you know one of our kids is a big fan of Ronaldo but I don't like I'm a post-game

00:06:19.800 interview guy and I don't think no champion should talk like that and say Euro Cup and all this

00:06:24.600 other stuff. I just don't think that's a good idea to say stuff

00:06:26.520 like this. Adam, your thoughts on this?

00:06:29.280 Rosen lasagna,

00:06:30.600 medium power, 15 minutes.

00:06:33.140 Sounds like Ojo time.

00:06:52.580 Let's celebrate. 19 plus Ontario only. Please play

00:06:54.400 Well, Ronaldo versus Messi, this is a conversation we've been having.

00:07:02.720 Here's what I've realized in sports.

00:07:04.040 There's good players, there's great players, and then there's just the goats.

00:07:08.900 And in this conversation between Messi and Ronaldo, who's the goat and who's a great player?

00:07:13.620 We all know the answer to that. 0.87

00:07:15.440 Messi's the goat.

00:07:16.620 So Ronaldo's going home and Messi's still playing and he's going for his back-to-back World Cup championship.

00:07:22.840 And he may win.

00:07:24.220 We'll see.

00:07:25.000 You brought up basketball, and I know PBD is a massive basketball fan.

00:07:28.320 I'm just a sideline hustler out here.

00:07:30.560 He's an expert.

00:07:31.320 But when MJ was coming up and Magic was the man and Bird was the man,

00:07:37.960 Isaiah was the man, and then he surpassed these guys,

00:07:39.940 he had some people on his level.

00:07:41.640 He had Karl Malone, he had Charles Barkley that you just discussed,

00:07:44.360 Clyde Drexler, Dominic Wilkins.

00:07:46.240 All these guys were all-stars, great players.

00:07:48.180 But they all eventually realized, no, my bad, that's the GOAT right there.

00:07:52.820 So what's going to happen to Ronaldo at some point,

00:07:55.580 he's going to have to look into the mirror and see his pretty boy face

00:07:57.880 and say, wow, I'm great.

00:08:00.860 But Messi's the GOAT.

00:08:01.620 And it's going to happen one day or another.

00:08:03.300 I'm a Kobe guy.

00:08:04.620 I'm a diehard Kobe guy.

00:08:05.980 But when Kobe was on that streak of back-to-back-to-back in his early 20s,

00:08:10.080 I'm like, dude, this guy's going to pass up Michael as the greatest of all time.

00:08:12.760 He didn't.

00:08:13.240 He ended up winning five, lost two.

00:08:15.380 You know, field goal percentages, 43, 44, 45%.

00:08:19.320 Michael was at 50%, 51%, and a bunch of different things.

00:08:22.400 So to me, Michael's the greatest of all time.

00:08:24.120 It's not even a question.

00:08:24.860 I think this case is happening.

00:08:26.120 Let me tell you this story.

00:08:27.040 It's one of the best stories.

00:08:27.820 Parents, this is very important for you and I to think about.

00:08:31.160 There's a reason why I keep talking about the future looks bright.

00:08:34.260 In 2013, they did a study at Emory University.

00:08:37.480 A guy named Brian Diaz and Kerry Ressler did a study identifying to see if we pass our fears down to our kids without us even knowing about it.

00:08:47.260 so they took a group of male mice and they gave it acetophenone and every time this is cherry

00:08:54.440 blossom you know smell every time they released this smell they would zap them with this pain

00:09:01.180 like whoa what was that five minutes later they released that smell again zap them again the pain

00:09:07.100 whoa five minutes and they kept doing this with only male mice they were experimenting on

00:09:13.740 Eventually, they did this for a few days, maybe a week, week and a half.

00:09:17.840 Then they took those same mice that now have tied fear to acetophenol and the smell, cherry blossom.

00:09:25.760 Then they put it in a room for them to mate with female mice.

00:09:30.120 So then they mate.

00:09:31.640 So these guys now have kids.

00:09:33.280 Then they take the mice, the male mice, the father away from the baby.

00:09:38.160 Then they take the babies and they put other female mice and they mate.

00:09:42.360 Then they put the grandkids in a complete different thing.

00:09:45.760 So you're with me so far.

00:09:46.580 I got you.

00:09:47.140 The grandfather fears the smell of acetophenone.

00:09:50.180 And he got zapped.

00:09:51.480 He got zapped every time.

00:09:53.600 Then his kids and then his grandkids.

00:09:56.240 The grandkids have never met grandfather before.

00:09:58.560 They put him in a place and all of a sudden they sprayed the cherry blossom.

00:10:04.380 These grandkids were frightened.

00:10:07.100 frightened because that fear from the grandfather had passed down to the grandkids genetically and

00:10:13.860 they've never been zapped and they've never been zapped so what does this mean yesterday we're at

00:10:18.940 the beach and i'm watching how happy brooklyn is and in my mind you know you're running all these

00:10:25.620 issues in your mind you're trying to solve all these problems you're kind of overwhelmed with

00:10:28.600 all the stuff that's going on and i'm looking at her and she's just happy she's happy playing in

00:10:33.660 the sand she's happy running around daddy take me take me take me in the water it's cold no no

00:10:38.140 don't put me in the water daddy daddy take me take me and you start realizing we are all born

00:10:43.840 with believing the future looks bright but if we're not too careful we can pass down that fear

00:10:50.160 to our own kids that can pass it down to their grandkids when people say why do you believe the

00:10:53.980 future looks bright i just do i just do i believe the future looks bright at the highest level by
