00:00:00.000 You know, when I talk to some entrepreneurs, I say, how's business?
00:00:02.480 They say, oh, I'm surviving, man.
00:00:03.420 I'm a survivor.
00:00:04.160 I'm a survivor.
00:00:04.880 I'm doing good, but I'm surviving, you know.
00:00:07.260 You know this whole saying about I'm surviving, you know.
00:00:09.220 It's like, hey, so how's business?
00:00:10.120 I was like, you know how it is, man.
00:00:11.520 We're surviving.
00:00:12.160 I'm a survivor, man.
00:00:13.080 That's what I am.
00:00:13.660 And I'm like, I don't know if I want to be a survivor for the rest of my life.
00:00:16.700 Can you imagine if your entire life you're trying to survive from drowning in the middle
00:00:20.180 of the ocean?
00:00:21.040 What's life like if you're constantly just trying to survive?
00:00:23.920 The whole idea is if you're constantly, as an entrepreneur, surviving, you're probably
00:00:29.780 better off being an employee than an entrepreneur.
00:00:32.700 Here's why.
00:00:33.760 Listen, the whole concept about, like, even when Beyonce came up with the song, I'm a survivor,
00:00:38.860 not, she didn't come up with the song, Destiny's Child when they had the song, I'm a survivor.
00:00:42.320 It was in 2001.
00:00:43.880 She was born in 81.
00:00:44.760 She was 20 years old, right?
00:00:46.360 Maybe at that time she was trying to survive the industry. 0.97
00:00:48.940 Today she's worth a half a billion dollars, if not more, right? 0.90
00:00:51.140 She took it to a whole different level.
00:00:53.460 The whole thing is about constantly thriving with the period where you're surviving.
00:00:58.920 It's got to be limited.
00:01:00.540 Maybe one year, two years, three years, five years.
00:01:02.760 I'm speaking to Miles Jabrani yesterday, comedian, and I said, give me the business model of comedians.
00:01:08.520 He says it's very simple.
00:01:10.020 He said, perform three times a day.
00:01:13.320 No, he said, yeah, perform three to five times a day, write every single day, but three
00:01:18.380 to five times a day.
00:01:19.300 So if it's a three-minute skit, you know, five-minute, ten, it doesn't matter.
00:01:22.140 Every day try to do three to five and write every single day, right?
00:01:26.340 He says the game of the comedian, if you look at comedy, you kind of start, you know, exploding
00:01:31.620 in your 30s.
00:01:32.520 You don't typically see guys in their 20s.
00:01:34.220 Even he says, you know, what's his name, Chappelle started at 14.
00:01:39.480 He excelled at 23.
00:01:40.660 That's still a nine-year run rate, right?
00:01:42.800 In every business, I understand surviving for a year, two years, three years, five years.
00:01:47.400 My number is five years.
00:01:49.040 In the world of business, for five years, it's going to be a little bit annoying.
00:01:51.880 It's going to be a little bit challenging.
00:01:52.920 But if you've been doing the surviving game for 20 years, you're doing something wrong.
00:01:57.900 Just to be very honest with you.
00:01:59.500 Either your habits suck, either the moment you make some money, you spend all of it, either 0.98
00:02:04.380 every single time you have some momentum, you get cocky. 0.97
00:02:07.560 There is something that's happening that's causing you to constantly stay in the survival
00:02:11.440 mode.
00:02:12.000 It could be a part of your identity.
00:02:14.040 You don't think you're worth the next level money.
00:02:16.820 You don't want to put the effort the moment you start succeeding, thinking it's going to
00:02:20.140 happen by itself, and you no longer need to put the work that got you to start creating
00:02:23.720 some momentum.
00:02:24.580 But there's got to be something there.
00:02:26.060 So either, if you don't want to pay the price, go be an employee.
00:02:30.080 Go be an entrepreneur.
00:02:32.320 But if you do want to be an entrepreneur, and you do want to go out there and do something
00:02:35.880 big, stop being in the survival mode.
00:02:38.560 Graduate.
00:02:39.180 Life is about graduating certain phases in life.
00:02:42.560 And one of the things you've got to graduate is being a survivor, instead being a thriver.
00:02:48.620 Having said that, I got a video for you.
00:02:50.440 It's called Seven Habits of Highly Effective Entrepreneurs.
00:02:52.820 If you've never watched it, click over here to watch it.
00:02:55.460 And if you're committed to graduating the survivor mode and being a thriver, smash thumbs up and
00:03:02.000 subscribe to the channel.
00:03:03.080 Take care, everybody.
