00:00:00.000 This is an iHeart Podcast.
00:00:02.660 Guaranteed human.
00:00:05.300 Welcome.
00:00:05.920 It is Verdict with Senator Ted Cruz, Ben Ferguson with you.
00:00:08.920 It's nice to have you with us on this Memorial Day.
00:00:11.520 And Senator, we're going to do a special show today.
00:00:14.180 We are going to play an interview that we did recently with Tom Homan, which really went viral.
00:00:20.360 And if you missed it, it was an important one about border security.
00:00:23.160 But before we get to that, I do want to take a moment and for us to just say thank you to everyone
00:00:28.960 that's ever served this country and to those who have given the ultimate sacrifice and families
00:00:33.520 that are listening right now, Memorial Day for them is a very somber day.
00:00:38.400 Well, it is.
00:00:39.500 And on Memorial Day, we want to take a moment to reflect and think back and say thank you
00:00:44.760 to every soldier, every sailor, every airman, every Marine, every Coast Guardsman, every
00:00:50.000 guardian who gave their lives for our nation.
00:00:53.940 You know, Memorial Day is a very different holiday from Veterans Day.
00:00:57.440 Veterans Day, we say thank you to our active duty military.
00:01:00.840 We say thank you to those who have served.
00:01:03.280 And we should do that today and every other day.
00:01:06.720 But Memorial Day is set aside for those who gave the last full measure of demotion, the
00:01:12.040 ultimate sacrifice.
00:01:14.320 Those who stepped forward and gave their lives and every liberty we have, every breath we
00:01:20.220 breathe as free Americans is because men and women have answered the call.
00:01:24.980 They've answered the call going back to the Revolutionary War, to the War of 1812, going
00:01:29.880 to the Civil War, World War I, World War II, going forward to Korea, to Vietnam, to the War
00:01:36.340 on Terror.
00:01:37.300 We have had servicemen and women for 250 years stepping forward and saying, America is worth
00:01:44.640 fighting for and I'm willing to die for America.
00:01:48.220 And far too many of them have had to give that final sacrifice.
00:01:53.660 And so I want to say, I want to give a special shout out to Gold Star Families.
00:01:58.620 If you're a mom or dad, if you are a wife or husband, if you are a son or daughter of a
00:02:05.440 service man or woman who gave their lives, let me just say thank you.
00:02:10.040 We appreciate you and let me tell you, your loved one is not forgotten.
00:02:16.840 The sacrifice that your loved one has given, we are grateful and we know our freedom is
00:02:24.360 because of that sacrifice.
00:02:27.140 Look, Memorial Day is a great time.
00:02:29.580 I hope you spend time with your kids, with your spouse.
00:02:32.760 I hope you play in the backyard.
00:02:34.420 I hope you grill, although I do hope when you grill, you do a better job of grilling
00:02:38.820 burgers than Chuck Schumer does.
00:02:40.580 So do not put the cheese on raw burgers.
00:02:43.480 That is a sign of being a messed up New Yorker who's never actually had a barbecue in his
00:02:48.760 life.
00:02:49.420 But for anyone that actually lives on planet Earth, have a great backyard barbecue, play
00:02:54.020 with your kids, swim in the pool, laugh.
00:02:56.920 But take a moment and let me encourage you for all the parents out there, take a moment to
00:03:02.160 talk to your kids and tell them, hey, you may think Memorial Day is the beginning of
00:03:06.760 summer, maybe school is over, finals are over, now you just get to play.
00:03:10.720 But this is a day, there are kids your age today who are not playing with their dad, who
00:03:18.500 are not hugging their mom because they gave everything for this country.
00:03:22.180 And we need to pause and give thanks and just say, we love you and we are grateful.
00:03:28.860 Amen to that.
00:03:29.820 And I couldn't agree with you more.
00:03:31.200 There's so many people today that it is a tough day.
00:03:33.880 It's a day that they're going to have to, they sit and they talk and they remember their
00:03:38.120 family members to give the ultimate sacrifice to this country.
00:03:40.600 And the way you said it, explain it to your kids and your grandkids so they know it truly
00:03:44.540 what this day is about.
00:03:46.340 And also enjoy your family.
00:03:48.180 There's no doubt about that.
00:03:49.580 Senator, we also decided on this holiday that there was a really important interview that
00:03:54.080 we had just done recently with Border Czar Tom Homan.
00:03:57.940 And it was one that went viral.
00:03:59.580 And if you missed it, we're going to play that for you today because it was such a important
00:04:04.860 reminder of what is happening right now with our border and security and fighting to protect
00:04:09.660 our kids from fentanyl and the drug trafficking and the human trafficking that's coming into
00:04:15.000 this country.
00:04:15.480 And it was a really, it was a really exciting interview that we just did.
00:04:20.560 Absolutely.
00:04:21.240 Tom Homan is doing a great job.
00:04:23.100 And President Trump is doing a great job securing the border.
00:04:25.920 And our families are safer because of it.
00:04:28.820 It was a mandate from this last election.
00:04:31.040 The chaos, the open borders we saw for four years where it was a deliberate political decision
00:04:37.220 by the Democrats and the successes.
00:04:40.180 Look, look, I, I believed and we talked in this podcast about the successes we were going
00:04:44.800 to have if we wanted November securing the border.
00:04:47.840 But but I have to say the magnitude, the speed, the scope of it defies any reasonable expectation.
00:04:56.260 And so this discussion with Tom Homan, many of you listened to it and yet yet a whole lot
00:05:00.680 of people didn't.
00:05:01.420 And so we thought it was worth putting out a second time because it's really powerful
00:05:05.600 what's happening at the border.
00:05:06.860 And it's something that the corporate media does not want to report, which is why this
00:05:11.960 podcast is important, because we can get information out that ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC will
00:05:18.500 never acknowledge exists.
00:05:20.720 And that's the value of every one of our listeners.
00:05:22.760 So let me say, listen to it, but but also share it with your friends, your family, make
00:05:28.640 sure they listen to it as well.
00:05:31.340 Absolutely.
00:05:32.020 So without further ado, here is that conversation we have with the Borders are Tom Homan and
00:05:36.280 happy Memorial Day to everyone.
00:05:37.760 God bless all you that serve this country and those that gave the ultimate sacrifice.
00:05:41.780 We remember you today as well.
00:05:44.120 Well, Tom Homan is serving as President Trump's Borders are he is the former acting director
00:05:49.960 of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and he has been border czar since since Trump
00:05:55.240 resumed office as president.
00:05:57.760 His formal title, which I like, is White House Executive Associate Director of Enforcement
00:06:04.260 and Removal Operations.
00:06:06.460 And to be clear, his job is to secure the border, keep us safe and remove dangerous illegal aliens.
00:06:12.860 He's doing a hell of a job.
00:06:14.100 Tom, welcome to Verdict.
00:06:16.040 Thanks for having me.
00:06:16.960 So let's start with just how are we doing?
00:06:21.620 We're four months in, almost five months into the Trump presidency.
00:06:26.760 How are we doing?
00:06:28.180 Tell us what has happened since President Trump became president again on the border.
00:06:33.040 Well, President Trump, like today, where I'm talking to you today, Senator Cruz, we have
00:06:37.080 the most secure border in the history of this nation today.
00:06:41.780 The most secure border ever.
00:06:43.320 I mean, we even beat Trump 45.
00:06:45.120 Well, we handed the Biden administration the most secure border we ever had at that time.
00:06:49.480 But the data is even better now.
00:06:51.600 And let me give you a few numbers, just a few numbers.
00:06:53.800 Under Biden administration, we were dealing with 10,000, 11,000, even a few times, 15,000
00:06:59.320 aliens a day.
00:07:01.700 Yesterday, it was 211.
00:07:04.200 We went from 13,000, 14,000 to 211.
00:07:09.480 And that's across the entire southwest border.
00:07:12.320 Yes.
00:07:13.580 Gotaways under Biden, an average gotaway day under Biden was 1,800 plus.
00:07:19.020 1,800 plus.
00:07:21.160 What was the gotaways yesterday?
00:07:22.940 39.
00:07:24.480 Wow.
00:07:24.900 And the most impressive number, the first 100 days on President Trump, compared to the
00:07:30.860 first or the same time period last year under Biden, Biden released over 184,000 illegal
00:07:38.300 aliens in this country.
00:07:39.240 The Trump administration, one.
00:07:43.100 There was nine releases, but four more material witnesses.
00:07:45.980 As you know, we want them to come here to testify in a cartel trial.
00:07:49.100 So four of them, we want to come in.
00:07:50.660 Four came across the border in such bad shape that we had to call an ambulance and take care
00:07:55.340 of the medical needs.
00:07:56.060 We had to allow them to do medical treatment.
00:07:58.500 But we had one, one discretionary release, compared to 184,000 released under the same
00:08:05.860 time period during Biden.
00:08:07.180 Most secure border history of this nation.
00:08:09.520 Interior enforcement operates.
00:08:10.960 ICE is arrested three times more criminals than Biden did during the same time period.
00:08:16.140 We got more to rest.
00:08:17.280 We got many more to rest.
00:08:18.700 But they're already hitting the ball out of the park.
00:08:21.180 And we're going to keep doing it.
00:08:22.280 We need to do more of it.
00:08:23.120 And we're hoping for a budget real soon here so we can step up efforts there.
00:08:27.440 But it's game changing.
00:08:29.360 President Trump's been a game changer.
00:08:30.940 And the men and women vice and men and women board of charge stood up, took it on the task.
00:08:35.100 And President Trump did in seven weeks.
00:08:36.980 But Joe Biden couldn't or wouldn't do in four years.
00:08:39.120 My favorite line from President Trump's most recent State of the Union address is when he said,
00:08:45.180 you know, Joe Biden stood here a year ago and said that he couldn't secure the border
00:08:49.220 without new legislation passing Congress.
00:08:52.040 And then Trump said, it turns out we didn't need new legislation.
00:08:55.480 We just needed a new president.
00:08:58.000 And that's powerfully true.
00:09:00.000 So let me ask just a simple question for those.
00:09:02.900 Look, you're an immigration expert.
00:09:05.020 But for someone at home, how did the numbers drop so precipitously?
00:09:09.840 What specifically are y'all doing differently than what Joe Biden and Kamala Harris did?
00:09:16.180 The biggest thing we've done is the president's executive orders were a game changer.
00:09:21.040 Remain in Mexico, a game changer.
00:09:24.100 Have the third state country agreement, a game changer.
00:09:27.660 And finally, ending catch and release.
00:09:30.000 People know you come to our border now, you're not being released.
00:09:33.000 And we just follow the law because, as you know, under federal statute,
00:09:37.540 an alien arrives at our border without proper documentation to enter.
00:09:41.740 The language is, you shall be detained.
00:09:44.600 Not maybe, not think about it, not parole them, shall.
00:09:47.660 And that's exactly what we're doing.
00:09:48.800 Those three things by themselves have been a major game changer.
00:09:52.320 And all three of them were executive orders by President Trump.
00:09:55.300 You mentioned budget a moment ago and how important it is to have the budget for you guys to continue your job.
00:10:01.680 Explain for everyone listening, is that referencing the big, beautiful bill?
00:10:05.900 And what is in there that you need so much to continue to do your job at the border?
00:10:11.540 Well, we want to make the border secure permanently.
00:10:13.780 So we need more infrastructure, right?
00:10:15.540 So we need to finish building that wall.
00:10:17.260 Now, let's be clear.
00:10:18.380 Every place they build a border barrier, illegal migrations went down, illegal drug flow went down.
00:10:23.300 But most importantly, walls save lives.
00:10:26.100 Women and children can't get over that wall, the most vulnerable.
00:10:28.960 So they go to a place where there's not a wall.
00:10:31.060 And what's waiting on them?
00:10:32.000 The men and women of the border patrol, first of all.
00:10:33.820 So the wall saves lives.
00:10:35.420 So we need to finish the border barrier.
00:10:37.000 We need money to finish the technology within the existing border wall.
00:10:41.220 Because not only did President Biden stop the construction of the wall,
00:10:44.120 he stopped adding the technology in that smart wall.
00:10:47.320 Technology that lets us know when someone climbs that wall, touches the wall, dig under that wall.
00:10:51.000 Now, technology where border patrol agents in the middle of nowhere can get on a radio
00:10:55.260 and use a wall as a repeater to talk to other agents for help.
00:10:58.360 There are some places on the southern border where they lose all communication.
00:11:01.720 So all that technology needs to be done, more technology at the port of entry
00:11:05.280 to make sure no fentanyl is coming through.
00:11:09.040 And as far as the interior enforcement, we need beds.
00:11:11.680 Right now we've got about 52,000 people in detention.
00:11:14.800 We're funded at 34,000.
00:11:16.660 ICE is already in the hole.
00:11:17.620 We need about 100,000 beds because everybody we arrest needs a bed.
00:11:22.400 We just don't arrest somebody in New York City and put them on plane leave.
00:11:25.300 We've got to detain them for several days or several weeks to get travel documents,
00:11:28.780 get flight arrangements, flight cleaners.
00:11:31.680 So we need beds.
00:11:32.900 So we need, you know, so this budget, the pending budget right now,
00:11:35.980 the big beautiful bill will give us money for those beds.
00:11:38.480 They're going to give us thousands more borbatch agents, thousands more ICE agents.
00:11:42.080 It's going to give ICE a budget to bring in more contracts.
00:11:45.780 What I mean by that, badges and guns shouldn't be sitting at a desk doing reports of processing.
00:11:53.340 They shouldn't be sitting at a desk doing travel documents
00:11:55.600 and all the administrative duties that occur within ICE.
00:12:00.060 You can have a contractor sitting there doing that work, give that badge and gun,
00:12:03.560 get them out on the street to arrest the public safety threats and national security threats.
00:12:07.640 So we need the money to do it.
00:12:08.720 Like I said, we're doing more than Biden did, but Biden wasn't doing anything.
00:12:11.980 We need to do ten times more than Biden did, not three times more.
00:12:15.540 And I'll leave you with this.
00:12:16.760 We've got 700,000 illegal aliens in this country with a criminal conviction walking the streets of this country.
00:12:22.480 We've got to get them.
00:12:23.360 We've got to get them quickly.
00:12:24.720 We've got 1.4 million illegal aliens who had due process at great taxpayer expense
00:12:29.660 were ordered removed by a federal judge and didn't leave, and they become fugitives.
00:12:33.780 We've got a lot of work to do.
00:12:35.260 We need money to do more.
00:12:36.820 We're doing good, but the more money we have, the more we can do.
00:12:39.980 Well, and Ben, I'll say this, that Congress, we will get this reconciliation bill passed.
00:12:45.680 It's going to take time.
00:12:46.580 It's going to be bumpy, but we'll get it done.
00:12:48.900 And when we get it done, we're going to have funding to build the wall.
00:12:51.300 We're going to have funding for technology on the wall.
00:12:53.340 We're going to have funding for more Border Patrol agents.
00:12:55.580 We're going to have funding for more ICE agents.
00:12:57.480 We're going to have funding for more detention beds.
00:12:59.280 We're going to have funding for more fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft.
00:13:02.080 We're going to have funding for more drones and more infrared and technology.
00:13:05.880 We are stepping in.
00:13:07.360 Now, it's going to take a little bit of time to get the bill across across the finish line, but I'm confident we'll do it.
00:13:12.260 And I will say it really underscores something we've said on verdict many times, which is the most important factor in securing the border.
00:13:21.140 And this is what Tom said just a minute ago is a policy decision.
00:13:25.140 And it is a decision. What happens when you apprehend an illegal immigrant?
00:13:29.600 And if the answer is. You put them on a plane and you fly them back home, they all have cell phones.
00:13:36.040 They pick up their phones and they call home and they say, don't come. They're not letting you stay.
00:13:40.460 And the flip side is true. If if when you apprehend them, you let them go, you say, what city do you want to go to?
00:13:45.900 And you put them on a plane, you put them on a bus and you let them go in every city in America, which is what Joe Biden was doing.
00:13:51.560 Again, they all have phones. They pick up the phone. They call their friends and family and the numbers skyrocket.
00:13:57.740 And so when President Trump left office the first time, he had produced the lowest rate of illegal immigration in 45 years.
00:14:07.120 That's what Joe Biden inherited. It immediately skyrocketed to the worst rate of illegal immigration in history.
00:14:14.200 Joe Biden allowed 12 million of the illegal immigrants to come into this country.
00:14:17.740 And and regular listeners of verdict will recall I predicted I said we will see the numbers plummet and it won't take a year.
00:14:27.420 It won't even take six months. It will happen immediately because on day one catch and release is going to end and we're going to see the numbers plummet.
00:14:35.180 Now, all that being said, Tom, let me ask you honestly, I will admit I predicted loudly that the numbers would plummet.
00:14:43.080 I'll confess I didn't think they'd drop over ninety nine percent or are you I'm surprised at just how massive the success is.
00:14:51.600 Are you are you a little bit surprised or no? I'm I'm I'm not surprised about the success.
00:14:57.140 I'm surprised how fast that happened. When President Trump, when he called me, asked me to be the board, of course, I didn't hesitate.
00:15:02.580 I came back and the first meeting he had, he asked me, how long would it take you down to secure the border?
00:15:07.680 I said, sir, I need I need at least 120 days.
00:15:10.960 He says, well, look at 90. I said, sir, how to respect 120 days to even push net.
00:15:16.100 We did this seven weeks, seven weeks. Number's already down.
00:15:20.080 Yep. And you're exactly right. Everything you said was right.
00:15:23.600 But I want to add one thing. When Joe Biden opened that border up, he's the first president in the history of this nation who came into office and unsecured a border.
00:15:32.580 On purpose. This wasn't mismanagement. This wasn't incompetence.
00:15:35.920 He ran on open borders. And that's exactly what he did.
00:15:39.400 You know, so when you tell the whole world you can enter this country legally, don't worry about it.
00:15:43.220 We're going to release you anyways. And when you got a secretary of my orchestra on ice, you can't arrest somebody for being here legally unless they got a serious criminal conviction.
00:15:51.240 The whole world's going to come. You can cross the border illegally. You get released in 24 hours.
00:15:56.140 We won't give you a free plane ticket to the city of your choice.
00:15:59.120 We're going to put you in a free hotel room. We're going to give you three meals a day.
00:16:02.580 We're going to give you free medical attention. And guess what? Hang out for 120 days.
00:16:06.600 We're going to give you a work authorization. The very reason they came here, not because of asylum, because they wanted a job.
00:16:11.500 So Biden did what he did on purpose. And President Trump came back in seven weeks.
00:16:18.080 Again, seven weeks, did what Joe Biden couldn't do or wouldn't do.
00:16:22.060 Repeat the numbers you said about how many illegals are in the U.S. right now who have criminal convictions.
00:16:28.660 And to be clear, these are convictions for crimes other than crossing illegally into the country.
00:16:32.760 Every illegal has committed that crime.
00:16:34.820 But but but how many have convictions for murder, for rape, for other crimes other than crossing the border illegally?
00:16:42.120 Just under 700,000.
00:16:43.620 I mean, that is a stunning number. And and and what you're saying, and I agree with you, is is that Joe Biden deliberately chose we're going to leave murderers here.
00:16:55.280 We're going to leave rapists in America. We're going to leave child molesters in America.
00:17:00.160 We're not going to send ICE to arrest them. We're not going to pick them up.
00:17:02.900 We're not going to deport them, that that they put partisan politics above protecting American families, about protecting our kids.
00:17:10.760 And that's why I woke up four years pissed off every morning, President Trump, when he called me, asked me to come back.
00:17:17.560 And he said to me, we've been you've been bitching about for four years.
00:17:20.240 Want to come back and fix it? And I did, because I knew every morning I wake up in center.
00:17:24.580 You know this just as well as I do.
00:17:25.980 I knew every morning when I woke up, how many children died crossing the border last night, how many women got sexually assaulted, how many people on terrorist watches got across the border, how many women and children were sex trafficking in this country, how many billions of dollars in the cartels make, how many Americans died in the last 24 hours from fentanyl coming across the open border.
00:17:44.700 For four years, I was pissed off. President Trump came back.
00:17:47.920 And like I said, in seven weeks, we had a border down 90 percent in seven weeks.
00:17:52.140 So, you know, like you said, it was a matter of president, a matter of enforcing the law.
00:17:57.360 You know, I'll tell you, Senator Cruz, and you know, every time I see you in a meeting, every time I see you in a meeting, I call you out.
00:18:03.740 I call you out because you've been the tip of the spear on this thing.
00:18:06.680 I appreciate your work in this. You're from Texas.
00:18:08.780 You know, and God bless Governor Abbott.
00:18:11.280 And Governor Abbott, he was more of a Secretary of Homeland Security, more of if he's ever been or ever thought of being.
00:18:16.000 So God bless the state of Texas.
00:18:17.520 They took the first rail on this.
00:18:19.620 And again, I can't thank you enough.
00:18:21.700 Every time I see you, I call you out.
00:18:23.120 Thank you for being the tip of the spear.
00:18:25.160 I see you everywhere wanting to secure a border, and you're fighting hard for me, and you're fighting hard for the men and women of the Border Patrol.
00:18:30.900 You're fighting hard for the men and women of ICE.
00:18:33.360 I love each and every one of those men who put their lives on the line for this country every day, men and women.
00:18:37.940 And I appreciate your fight for them.
00:18:40.100 You've had their six from day one, and I love you for it.
00:18:42.800 I appreciate it.
00:18:43.800 Well, Tom, let me thank you for that.
00:18:45.640 I appreciate that, and I appreciate your passion and commitment.
00:18:48.740 You're showing up, and you said something that I think is really important for our listeners to understand.
00:18:55.000 You and President Trump right now are quite literally saving lives.
00:18:59.560 You are saving lives.
00:19:00.780 There are Americans, and there are a significant number of Americans who are alive today because a violent criminal did not cross the border, was not released, and didn't murder them.
00:19:13.640 There are women who have not been raped because you've stopped the Biden practice of releasing rapists.
00:19:19.520 There are children, and the number of children who haven't been physically and sexually assaulted by human traffickers, it is already, I think, well into the thousands.
00:19:30.880 And I want you to think about that.
00:19:32.140 Thousands of little girls, thousands of little boys have not been violently, repeatedly raped by human traffickers.
00:19:41.100 Why?
00:19:41.560 Because President Trump came in, and because you've been, the borders are implementing it, and secured the border, and those kids are no longer being trafficked.
00:19:50.340 That is a profound legacy in just four or five months.
00:19:54.100 And let me go one step further.
00:19:57.560 Trump asked me to do three things.
00:19:59.280 Secure the border, run the largest deportation officers I've ever seen, and find these children.
00:20:04.060 The Biden administration, over half a million children were smuggled in this country, separated from their families, smuggled in this country, and put in the hands of sponsors, many unvetted sponsors.
00:20:15.140 The last administration lost track of 300,000 of them.
00:20:18.300 President Trump's committed to finding as many as he can.
00:20:21.000 We've already found over 7,500 of them.
00:20:23.320 Wow.
00:20:23.760 Some of them were perfectly safe with families.
00:20:26.020 Some were perfectly safe, and some weren't.
00:20:28.060 Example, just there for yesterday, a 14-year-old little girl, already sex trafficked, was pregnant, living with two men who were trafficking there.
00:20:35.620 Well, they're going to prison, and we're helping that little girl.
00:20:38.100 So we're going to rescue every one of these little girls and make sure that they're safe.
00:20:42.740 Because many of them are going to be okay with family members.
00:20:45.060 They just didn't respond to call-ins or so forth.
00:20:47.540 But many of them, I guarantee you, I've been doing this for over 40 years, many of them are in sex trafficking.
00:20:51.980 Many of them are in forced labor, living a life of hell every day.
00:20:55.820 We're committed to finding every one of these little children and making sure they're safe.
00:20:59.780 Canadian women are looking for more.
00:21:02.340 More out of themselves, their businesses, their elected leaders, and the world around them.
00:21:06.800 And that's why we're thrilled to introduce the Honest Talk podcast.
00:21:10.420 I'm Jennifer Stewart.
00:21:11.700 And I'm Catherine Clark.
00:21:12.920 And in this podcast, we interview Canada's most inspiring women.
00:21:16.580 Entrepreneurs, artists, athletes, politicians, and newsmakers, all at different stages of their journey.
00:21:22.120 So if you're looking to connect, then we hope you'll join us.
00:21:25.660 Listen to the Honest Talk podcast on iHeartRadio or wherever you listen to your podcasts.
00:21:31.480 Tom, you mentioned finding them all.
00:21:33.620 Let's talk about sanctuary cities for a second.
00:21:36.000 It's very clear Democrats are not backing off of that.
00:21:39.840 How dangerous is the policy?
00:21:42.260 And who is being harbored in these cities that are refusing to work with you guys?
00:21:47.940 Will there be accountability?
00:21:49.140 Are they harboring MS-13 gang members and domestic terrorists, foreign terrorists, those that are putting the fentanyl out in society?
00:21:57.780 How dangerous are these cities?
00:22:00.940 Well, they're dangerous for everybody because in a sanctuary city, it means I don't have access to jail, arrest a bad guy, public safety threat, and the safety and security of a jail.
00:22:10.440 Were the aliens safe, the officers safe, and the public safe?
00:22:13.520 Like, when sanctuary cities knowingly release a public safety threat back in the street, it certainly puts the community at risk.
00:22:20.540 It even puts the alien at risk because anything can happen during a street arrest.
00:22:24.220 And it puts the officers at great risk because now we've got to arrest a criminal alien public safety threat on his turf.
00:22:29.680 We have access to who knows what weapons.
00:22:32.040 It's very dangerous.
00:22:33.140 And, yes, we'll hold sanctuary cities accountable.
00:22:35.240 It's Pam Bonney's already filed lawsuits against several.
00:22:37.460 We're working with DOJ now.
00:22:41.440 Again, where's that line?
00:22:45.080 When do you cross that line?
00:22:47.120 You can sit there and watch ICE do your job because here's what irritates me the most.
00:22:51.760 I don't care what party you're in.
00:22:54.140 If you're an elected mayor, elected city council person, or elected governor, your number one responsibility is the safety and security of your neighborhoods, your communities.
00:23:04.920 ICE has been clear from the beginning with President Trump.
00:23:08.660 We're going to prioritize public safety threats and national security threats.
00:23:12.460 Why will you not help us make your communities safer?
00:23:16.500 There's no downside on that.
00:23:18.580 And sanctuary cities want to argue, well, we're a sanctuary city because we want victims and witnesses of crime if they're illegally in the United States to feel comfortable coming to the law enforcement without fear of working with ICE.
00:23:29.520 That is a bunch of crap.
00:23:30.880 So victims and witnesses of crime don't want the bad guy in the neighborhood either.
00:23:36.340 And as far as the illegal alien community, I'll say this.
00:23:39.780 Despite being here illegally, many of them are God-fearing family people.
00:23:44.500 They don't want a predator in their neighborhood either.
00:23:46.640 They don't want someone convicted, DUI, 10 times driving to their neighborhood either.
00:23:50.800 So, you know, if you go to the immigrant community and ask them one simple question,
00:23:54.700 would you rather have ICE operating in the jail or in your community?
00:23:57.840 What do you think they're going to say?
00:23:58.780 They're going to be saved at jail.
00:24:00.300 So sanctuary cities will be held accountable.
00:24:02.320 Matter of fact, we're reissuing the ICE detainer.
00:24:04.140 We just changed the new ICE detainer.
00:24:06.120 We're letting them, black and white, let them know this person is a designated terrorist.
00:24:09.720 This person is a designated return felon.
00:24:12.860 We're going to let them know exactly who they're detaining based on biographic and biometric information and see what they do.
00:24:19.040 Are they going to violate the Lake and Riley Act?
00:24:21.980 Then we'll go out to prosecution.
00:24:23.900 Are they going to know any release of terrorists?
00:24:25.800 Then we're going to go out to prosecution.
00:24:26.960 So it's about to get a lot tougher, and it's the right thing to do.
00:24:31.700 Well, and let me ask you, how worried are you that there are terrorists who came across the southern border in the last four years that are out there and that are planning acts of terror in the United States right now?
00:24:43.460 I'm convinced.
00:24:44.840 We got over two million known Godwais.
00:24:47.540 Why did two million people pay more to get away?
00:24:49.920 You pay the cartels a lot more money to escape apprehension and get to New York or Chicago or wherever.
00:24:56.260 Why didn't they pay less?
00:24:58.280 Why would you pay more to get away?
00:25:00.400 Because you don't want to be vetted.
00:25:01.940 You don't want to be fingerprinted.
00:25:03.800 This just scared the hell out of every American.
00:25:05.620 It scares the hell out of me.
00:25:06.720 Some of these are going to be child traffickers.
00:25:08.820 Some of these are Karen Fenton.
00:25:09.840 And some of these are going to be people from a terrorist-sponsored country.
00:25:13.740 Under Joe Biden, we arrest over 400 people on terrorist swaths that come to the southwest border.
00:25:18.340 If you don't think a single one of the two million Godwais didn't come from a country sponsoring terror, didn't come here to do us harm, then you're just crazy.
00:25:25.480 As you know, it was, what was it, just a few months ago we arrested eight that were planning a terrorist attack, a Russian-type terrorist attack in the United States.
00:25:34.680 Luckily, the intelligence community called them on some chat, and we were able to arrest them.
00:25:39.440 But we're not perfect.
00:25:40.680 The intelligence community isn't perfect.
00:25:42.720 They weren't perfect in Afghanistan.
00:25:44.560 They weren't perfect in a lot of things.
00:25:46.000 So God help us.
00:25:47.120 I think they're here.
00:25:48.640 There's intelligence reports saying they're here.
00:25:50.820 We know where some are and being monitored, but we don't know where others are.
00:25:54.120 So that scares the hell out of me.
00:25:55.900 Well, and as you know, Chris Wray, the former director of the FBI, every few months would come to Congress,
00:26:00.820 and he would do everything but set off an alarm and bang a drum to say we are at major risk of a terrorist attack from the open borders.
00:26:09.560 Hamas and Hezbollah have declared jihads on America.
00:26:13.040 As you know, the Border Patrol under Joe Biden was advised be on the lookout for Hamas, Hezbollah, and Palestinian Islamic jihad terrorists coming across the southern border.
00:26:23.280 And one of the things, Tom, you said that was really important, of the 12 million illegal immigrants that came under Joe Biden,
00:26:28.300 and roughly 2 million of those were gotaways.
00:26:30.860 That's by far the most troubling of all those folks.
00:26:34.140 The other 10 million are people who were apprehended, and apprehended in many instances is the wrong term,
00:26:39.840 because as you know, and I've spent a lot of time down on the southern border.
00:26:43.820 I almost always go out on midnight patrol with the Border Patrol agents when I'm there.
00:26:49.340 Apprehended doesn't even characterize what they were doing most nights.
00:26:52.400 People would cross the border, and they'd go look for a Border Patrol agent and actively turn themselves in.
00:26:58.280 Because the result would be that Joe Biden would say, where do you want to go, and would fly them to wherever they wanted to be.
00:27:04.720 Literally, the Biden administration was the last mile of the human trafficking network.
00:27:09.100 But, Tom, what you said is exactly right.
00:27:10.960 Those 2 million gotaways are much more likely to be violent criminals, much more likely to be murderers or rapists or child molesters,
00:27:20.140 much more likely to be MS-13 gang members, much more likely to be terrorists.
00:27:25.280 And that's the population that is most worrisome.
00:27:28.040 And speaking of MS-13 gang members, just when I thought politics could not get weirder,
00:27:35.080 the Democrats have decided to go all in, making their central party platform be that we should admit more illegal aliens,
00:27:43.940 and in particular, we want more Venezuelan gang members, MS-13 gang members here.
00:27:48.160 And they've decided that Kilmar Abrego-Garcia is their poster child for the Democrat Party.
00:27:54.900 Tom, tell us about Abrego-Garcia.
00:27:58.280 How confident are you that he's a gang member, that he's a criminal?
00:28:01.840 I'm very confident, and I've talked to the head of ICE numerous times.
00:28:07.940 People understand, so he got no due process.
00:28:09.960 Yes, he did.
00:28:10.540 He got due process from two different federal judges who said he's a legal United States,
00:28:16.100 a citizen of El Salvador, and he gave an order of deportation.
00:28:19.380 He had a great due process, a great taxpayer expense.
00:28:22.000 On top of that, men and women of ICE, and they sent those two plane loads of TD-8 and MS-13.
00:28:26.840 Hundreds and hundreds of hours were spent on every case.
00:28:30.020 They went through the criminal history.
00:28:31.280 Through the immigration history, they went through intelligence report.
00:28:33.820 They went through confidential informant statements.
00:28:36.160 They went through wiretaps.
00:28:37.700 They went through a bunch of stuff to certify these people who were members of TD-8 and MS-13.
00:28:44.520 So they got due process several times.
00:28:46.820 Abrego-Garcia is home.
00:28:48.900 He's a citizen of El Salvador.
00:28:50.400 And for those of the Democrats who say, well, they made a mistake.
00:28:53.220 I still say it was a mistake.
00:28:54.680 It was a temporary oversight.
00:28:56.480 Because here's the problem.
00:28:57.140 He had a withholding order.
00:28:58.040 Remember, he'd not be returned to El Salvador because he feared death from a gang.
00:29:02.040 Two things have changed since that order was given.
00:29:04.720 Number one, he was a designated terror.
00:29:07.020 So that withholding order has been set aside.
00:29:09.000 Number two, the gang he feared no longer exists in El Salvador because of the great work President Bucati did there.
00:29:14.760 So the circumstances surrounding that withholding order are no longer valid.
00:29:19.680 And here's what would happen.
00:29:20.880 If somebody was to make this guy return to the United States, he would be detained and removed the next day.
00:29:26.840 If not to El Salvador, it's another country.
00:29:28.980 He is not here.
00:29:30.240 But as President Bukele said, he's a certified national of El Salvador.
00:29:35.520 He is home.
00:29:36.720 He is home.
00:29:37.500 He is a certified MS-13 member, not just by ICE, by local police departments, intelligence reports, immigration judges, and the country of El Salvador, says he's a MS-13 member.
00:29:47.780 He's home.
00:29:48.440 He's exactly where he should be.
00:29:49.920 This country, his wife, his neighborhood is a lot safer because he's locked up.
00:29:55.280 I want to go back to accountability for a second, Tom.
00:29:57.480 And I want to ask you, there are a lot of people that believe that there were laws that were broken deliberately in the last administration.
00:30:04.340 They knew they were breaking the law.
00:30:05.720 One of those would be former Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas that you mentioned a moment ago.
00:30:11.780 Should he be criminally prosecuted for his role in the border crisis if it was as deliberate as it now seems?
00:30:19.200 Look, I think what he did was borderline treasonous.
00:30:21.800 I'm not an attorney.
00:30:22.860 I'm not a prosecutor.
00:30:24.260 But what he did, he did more damage to this country, him and the Biden administration, what they did to this country.
00:30:29.920 I can tell you, when they opened that border up, sex trafficking, women, children, increased tenfold.
00:30:38.060 A record number of migrants died making that journey, over 4,000.
00:30:42.380 A record number of Americans died from fat and all that come across that open border.
00:30:46.960 And it's just what he calls this country.
00:30:50.060 And from a national security perspective, because here's what his orders were.
00:30:53.660 Process quick, release quick.
00:30:57.000 They didn't care about the crisis.
00:30:58.740 They cared about the optics of the crisis.
00:31:01.000 If there's no overcrowding, there's nothing to see here.
00:31:04.320 So border trades were processing as quick as they could and releasing as quick as they could.
00:31:08.760 And there's been several instances where they released so quickly, the FBI scan didn't come back.
00:31:14.460 And they came back hot.
00:31:16.340 Actually, they already had been released.
00:31:17.460 They came back hot as a known spec to terror.
00:31:20.440 So, yeah, what he did was unconscionable.
00:31:23.680 What he did, in my opinion, borderline treasonous, he should be held accountable because a lot of deaths occurred under his watch.
00:31:31.900 And like Senator Cruz said a few minutes ago, right now, 96% decline in illegal immigration.
00:31:38.140 When 96% less people are coming, how many women are being raped?
00:31:41.800 How many children aren't dying crossing that border?
00:31:44.660 How many no-inspected terrorists aren't getting in the country?
00:31:46.820 How many pounds of fentanyl is not getting in the country?
00:31:48.820 What are you going to see on the President Trump's administration?
00:31:51.280 Fentanyl deaths would decrease.
00:31:52.860 Sex trafficking would decrease.
00:31:54.580 Smuggling would decrease.
00:31:56.360 And no-inspected terrorists, they've got no open net anymore.
00:31:59.500 Now that we've got the border secure, every single border agent is on the line, on patrol, doing his national security duty.
00:32:06.840 Under Joe Biden, it was an average, most days, an average, 70%.
00:32:11.820 70%, 70% of agents were no longer on patrol.
00:32:15.960 They were changing diapers, making baby formula, making hospital runs.
00:32:19.440 The last time I went down there, before the election, I talked to hundreds of board players and told them, hang on, hang on, change is coming.
00:32:25.240 I really think President Trump's going to win.
00:32:27.220 But they told me, no, we're sick of being tourist agents.
00:32:29.560 We're sick of being Uber drivers.
00:32:31.240 We process and deliver these people to the very same people who pay for their smuggling.
00:32:37.540 They couldn't recruit.
00:32:38.720 They couldn't.
00:32:39.200 People were quitting.
00:32:40.240 They were quitting before they even eligible for retirement.
00:32:42.840 They couldn't read the recruiting numbers.
00:32:44.140 You know, last month, ICE, excuse me, Border Patrol, had the highest recruiting numbers in the history of that agency just last month.
00:32:53.300 That's fantastic.
00:32:53.780 And look, I will say, Tom is not exaggerating at all.
00:32:59.060 Like when I would visit with Border Patrol agents, the frustration.
00:33:03.240 Look, the men and women who sign up for the Border Patrol, they do so because they're patriots.
00:33:07.040 They do so because they love America.
00:33:08.880 They do so because they want to keep our communities and our families and our kids safe.
00:33:13.080 And they want to be out on patrol.
00:33:15.040 Look, that's what you sign up in the job.
00:33:18.380 And they were sitting there just shuffling paperwork they were processing and just running a revolving door to try to release as many illegal immigrants as fast as possible.
00:33:29.400 That's what Mayorkas viewed his job is accelerate illegal immigration, not stop it, but make it go more quickly.
00:33:37.160 Let me ask you, Tom, you mentioned fentanyl.
00:33:39.260 What do we know about the numbers of fentanyl traffic over the first four months of the Trump administration?
00:33:45.540 There's been a decrease, and I've got from three or four different sources, the percentage of the decrease is different from every source.
00:33:53.300 The problem is the CDC doesn't have good metrics on fentanyl.
00:33:57.620 But look, across the country, you can see the decrease in fentanyl.
00:34:01.180 Fentanyl is being seized on the southern border.
00:34:04.520 And the metrics, and that's maybe something you all can work on up there in the Senate.
00:34:10.160 And CDC needs to track this more accurately.
00:34:16.080 Like I said, you've got a number of deaths reported by states.
00:34:19.160 You've got a number of deaths reported by CDC.
00:34:20.880 None of them match.
00:34:22.280 But we do know there's been a reduction.
00:34:24.620 You don't see, you know, 300 people dying every day from fentanyl like we did see, right?
00:34:30.920 We know we don't have two, you know, 9-11s a week happening from kids dying from fentanyl.
00:34:36.580 So I don't have the exact numbers, but we already see the effects of a secure border.
00:34:40.400 And, Tom, let me ask you also.
00:34:41.880 So one of the things we've talked about on this podcast, in 2018, the Mexican drug cartels made roughly $500 million from human trafficking.
00:34:52.020 Last year, the drug cartels made over $13 billion from human trafficking.
00:34:58.900 That's a 2,600 percent increase.
00:35:01.940 Do we have any data yet?
00:35:03.320 Do you have any visibility on what has happened to the drug cartels' revenue?
00:35:08.460 Because one of the worst consequences of what Biden's open border did is it turned these vicious, murderous, transnational criminal organizations into incredibly wealthy powerhouses, and it put huge resources in their pockets.
00:35:24.540 Do you have any data on what's happened to their revenues?
00:35:27.460 Well, one of the best things President Trump did was designate a terrorist organization because these cartels have killed more Americans than every terrorist organization in the world combined.
00:35:36.160 We knew that's why there's so much violence in Mexico over the last four years.
00:35:41.440 Cartels were fighting each other for control of the plazas.
00:35:44.040 Why?
00:35:44.760 Because they're making record amounts of money in smuggling people, record amount of money in trafficking women and children, and a record amount of money in moving dope across that border.
00:35:53.060 Now, with the border secure, we're hitting them where it hurts.
00:35:56.120 Smuggling's down, both drugs and people, trafficking's down.
00:35:59.960 So we're hitting them where it hurts.
00:36:01.500 So that's why the latest intelligence reports I see, they're trying to produce and push more fentanyl into Asian and European nations because their market here in the United States has been so brutally attacked.
00:36:14.100 I wish what would happen is that Mexico would agree with President Trump to let us help them take the cartels and wipe them off the face of the earth.
00:36:22.600 Because right now, like the Jalisco cartel, they're in 44 countries around the globe.
00:36:28.320 They're like a Fortune 500 company.
00:36:30.300 It's going to take the United States to take them out.
00:36:32.180 Mexico's failed for decades to do it.
00:36:34.260 And a lot of Mexico, you know, the military, police, and government officials are corrupt.
00:36:37.760 I'll say this.
00:36:38.460 A lot of the corruption is forced corruption.
00:36:41.160 Because you're a police officer in Mexico, you're making, you know, $400 a month.
00:36:45.740 But a Mexican cartel comes up and offers you $10,000, look the other way, and you're going to take it, or they're going to kill you and your family.
00:36:51.240 I think Mexico would be a much safer, a much more prosperous country if they let President Trump help them wipe the cartels off the face of the earth.
00:36:59.320 Look, that is absolutely right.
00:37:00.920 And let me underscore that point.
00:37:02.900 A lot of people don't realize, particularly those on the left, that what Joe Biden and the Democrats did, it wasn't just horribly cruel to the American people.
00:37:11.660 It was horribly cruel to Mexican nationals in Mexico.
00:37:16.140 Turning these vicious criminals into the most powerful economic force in Mexico has increased the murder rate, the crime rate, the kidnapping rate.
00:37:29.660 I visited with a Mexican mayor of a town on the other side of the border, and I'm not going to say which mayor because he told me in confidence because he was afraid.
00:37:38.800 But he said in his town they had had over 3,000 disappearances, just people, Mexican nationals living in Mexico who just ran afoul of the cartel, and they just disappear, and they find mass graves.
00:37:53.720 And the suffering and murder and kidnapping that has happened in Mexico because of the Democrats' political decision I think was cruel and horrible, and Tom, you're exactly right, that the U.S. military can take out the cartels.
00:38:12.220 And we've done it before in Colombia.
00:38:14.060 President Uribe asked the military to come in and take out the cartels in Colombia, and we came in and did that, and we could do it again.
00:38:21.900 And I do think it would be much better if the Mexican government invited us in.
00:38:26.820 It would have transformational impact within Mexico.
00:38:31.780 Yeah, they saved a lot of lives.
00:38:33.360 Like, say, Mexican cartels have killed thousands of judges and prosecutors and journalists and citizens.
00:38:40.040 And so, you know, I wish they'd join with President Trump because that would be a game-changer for Mexico and the United States.
00:38:48.800 All right, final question.
00:38:50.620 We saw just this week that New Jersey Democrat Congresswoman LaMonica McIver was charged for assaulting law enforcement at an ICE facility.
00:39:01.700 Tell us how important that is, and what do you think about the fact that charges were brought for assault?
00:39:07.900 We saw during the Biden administration repeatedly law enforcement, Customs Border Patrol, ICE agents were subject to physical assault.
00:39:17.240 No charges were brought.
00:39:18.720 How important is it that these charges were brought?
00:39:21.880 The sons of strong, Mitch.
00:39:23.240 This is very important.
00:39:24.560 It also proves I don't bluff.
00:39:26.540 I'd said from the day of inauguration, if you want to not support ICE, well, shame on you, but you have that right.
00:39:32.000 If you want to protest against ICE and protest against Trump's policies, that's fine.
00:39:35.840 If you want to watch ICE come in and clean your city up because you're a sanctuary city, you don't want to help, you can do that, too.
00:39:41.820 But I said from day one, you can't cross that line.
00:39:44.520 You can't cross the line on impediment.
00:39:46.280 That's a felony.
00:39:47.300 You can't cross the line on anointing and harboring, concealing of illegal animals from ICE.
00:39:51.640 That's a felony.
00:39:52.620 You certainly can't commit criminal trespasses at our facilities.
00:39:56.160 And for God's sakes, you can't put hands on ICE officers.
00:39:59.880 And this happened during the same time frame, the same week I went to Blue Mass in Washington, D.C.,
00:40:05.880 in remembrance of the men and women of law enforcement, put their lives on the line for this country every day.
00:40:11.180 So we spent a week just praising these men and women, talking to their families who also paid the ultimate sacrifice,
00:40:18.280 for they lost a loved one forever.
00:40:19.700 Children lost their fathers and mothers, and mothers and fathers lost their sons and daughters.
00:40:23.960 And the same week we're supposed to be honoring law enforcement,
00:40:25.940 you've got some of the members of Congress putting their hands and shoving an ICE officer,
00:40:29.940 which makes that facility very unsafe.
00:40:32.460 And I'm sick and tired of hearing, well, we have congressional oversight responsibilities.
00:40:35.980 There is a right way and wrong way to do it.
00:40:38.320 You don't force your way in the facility.
00:40:40.140 You don't put hands on an officer.
00:40:42.540 We do oversight all the time.
00:40:44.880 And what are they finding out as people are getting tours of that facility?
00:40:47.800 That they have the highest detention standards in the industry,
00:40:51.800 and it puts every other detention center and jail in the state of New Jersey,
00:40:58.520 whether it's a county or a state, it puts them to shame,
00:41:01.980 because our detention standards are so high.
00:41:04.420 So when you go and cause that kind of practice,
00:41:06.840 what we're trying to maintain a facility with very dangerous people inside,
00:41:11.380 we've got to protect not only the criminals,
00:41:13.300 we've got to protect the employees and the citizens on the outside.
00:41:15.660 What she did was just horrendous.
00:41:18.500 She put hands on an officer, like they said, for four years.
00:41:22.480 No one's above the law.
00:41:23.720 You're damn right they're not above the law, even members of Congress.
00:41:26.400 The president isn't above the law, but these are members of Congress.
00:41:29.580 Look, a man, and I will say, Tom, I've visited dozens of ICE facilities and CBP facilities.
00:41:36.080 I've never found it difficult to refrain from physical assault on an officer.
00:41:40.320 Somehow that temptation was never there for me,
00:41:43.380 and in fact, for the opposite, it is my job to have their backs.
00:41:47.980 That's a job I take incredibly seriously.
00:41:50.040 And I just want to say, Tom, you are a patriot.
00:41:52.760 You are a great American.
00:41:53.960 We have roughly a million unique listeners who listen to Verdict.
00:41:57.300 And I want to say on behalf of all of them and on behalf of 31 million Texans,
00:42:02.700 thank you for what you are doing.
00:42:04.600 You are keeping my children safer.
00:42:07.380 And Tom, I am grateful you are on that front line for us.
00:42:10.720 And you and President Trump are making a massive difference for the entire country.
00:42:15.700 Well, I appreciate that, but I'm not going to take credit.
00:42:18.520 Please give the thanks for your listeners.
00:42:20.660 You see a board of stories?
00:42:22.240 Yes, yes.
00:42:23.620 Just say thank you, because I cannot believe they hate their...
00:42:27.140 We knew they were going to take hate as soon as President Trump got back in.
00:42:30.700 But say thank you, because these men and women, they're mothers and fathers, too.
00:42:34.120 They don't hang their heart on a hook at home when they go to work.
00:42:36.840 They see a lot of terrible things.
00:42:38.760 They put their life on the line.
00:42:40.220 At 3 o'clock this morning, when everybody is sleeping, me and Senator is sleeping at 3 a.m. this morning,
00:42:46.020 there's a board of relations standing on a dirt trail someplace going to take something on.
00:42:49.420 They don't know if it's just an illegal alien or a heavily armed drug smoker.
00:42:52.680 They're going to take it on.
00:42:54.020 And their nearest back was miles away.
00:42:55.960 God bless the men and women of the board of Joe.
00:42:57.780 God bless the women of ICE.
00:42:59.520 And God bless this great nation.
00:43:01.020 We're taking it.
