00:00:00.000 This is an iHeart Podcast.
00:00:02.660 Guaranteed human.
00:00:05.300 Welcome.
00:00:05.940 It is Verdict with Senator Ted Cruz, Ben Ferguson with you.
00:00:09.020 And we have got a lot to talk about today, Senator.
00:00:11.960 And I want to give a roadmap for people because there's so much news happening.
00:00:15.760 First off, a big victory.
00:00:17.320 And we're going to get to this first, dealing with a nomination,
00:00:21.120 someone from the Biden administration that's actually been pulled.
00:00:23.780 You're going to give that update.
00:00:24.800 Plus, what's going on in Mexico with the four Americans that were taken hostage?
00:00:29.260 Two of them have died.
00:00:31.000 We also have another issue with Fauci emails.
00:00:33.620 And finally, January the 6th.
00:00:35.980 Senator, let's start with this big information, big news, a victory of the fact that President
00:00:41.800 Biden's nomination of G.G.
00:00:44.680 Son to serve as a commissioner of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission,
00:00:49.160 knows the FCC, has been pulled.
00:00:51.560 How did we get there?
00:00:52.760 I know that's something you talked about on this show early on.
00:00:56.200 And we're leading the way saying she was not qualified.
00:00:59.260 Well, this is a huge victory.
00:01:01.520 So Joe Biden had nominated G.G.
00:01:03.940 Son to be a commissioner of the FCC, the Federal Communications Commission.
00:01:08.680 And many believe that Biden intended to name her the chairman of the commission if she had
00:01:14.980 been confirmed.
00:01:16.660 G.G.
00:01:17.040 Son has been a left-wing activist her entire life.
00:01:20.580 She is a hardcore activist.
00:01:23.360 She had repeatedly denounced Fox News as an enemy to democracy, as a threat to democracy.
00:01:32.840 She had demonstrated a willingness to use the powers of the FCC to deny licenses and to
00:01:39.700 otherwise use government power to silence conservative voices.
00:01:43.380 And she had a remarkable pattern of just being a partisan activist.
00:01:50.800 So, for example, there was a group called Fighting for Our Future that G.G.
00:01:55.940 Son had supported for years.
00:01:58.680 And every year she sent out tweets fundraising for Fighting for Our Future.
00:02:02.640 Now, G.G. did this even though the group Fighting for Our Future had a longstanding practice of
00:02:11.960 attacking multiple senators and multiple senators on the Commerce Committee.
00:02:15.940 If you're nominated to be on the FCC, it's the Commerce Committee that has to confirm you.
00:02:19.100 So, Fighting for Our Future had put out billboards attacking Senator Marsha Blackburn, who's on
00:02:26.900 the Commerce Committee with me.
00:02:28.400 They'd put out billboards attacking Senator Dan Sullivan, who's on the Commerce Committee
00:02:32.400 with me.
00:02:33.660 They had attacked Roger Wicker, who's the former chairman, the former ranking member of
00:02:38.320 the Commerce Committee.
00:02:39.940 But interestingly enough, Ben, they hadn't just attacked Republicans.
00:02:43.680 They'd attacked a bunch of Democrats.
00:02:45.300 So, they'd put up billboards saying John Tester, the Democrat senator from Montana, is corrupt.
00:02:51.380 They'd put up billboards saying Gary Peters, the Democrat senator from Michigan, is corrupt.
00:02:57.380 They'd put up billboards saying Kyrsten Sinema, the Democrat senator from Arizona, is corrupt.
00:03:04.060 And amazingly enough, this group also sent a letter to Chuck Schumer in December of last
00:03:11.320 year urging Schumer to fire Maria Cantwell, the Democrat who's the chairman of the committee
00:03:17.860 because the committee had yet to confirm Gigi Sohn.
00:03:22.520 And after all of these solicitations every year, Gigi Sohn would ask for people to contribute
00:03:31.660 and support this.
00:03:33.580 And so, Gigi Sohn had three different confirmation hearings.
00:03:37.800 The most recent one, a couple of weeks ago, I'm the ranking member of the Commerce Committee.
00:03:42.200 I led the fight against him.
00:03:43.120 I walked her through each of these.
00:03:44.540 I said, look, do you believe John Tester is corrupt?
00:03:48.320 She says, no.
00:03:49.180 Do you believe Gary Peters is corrupt?
00:03:50.760 She says, no.
00:03:52.480 Do you believe Kyrsten Sinema is corrupt?
00:03:54.400 She says, no.
00:03:56.300 Did you know this group was putting up these billboards and attacking these senators?
00:04:00.040 And she said, well, I knew about the billboard attacking Sinema.
00:04:05.320 And I said, no.
00:04:05.980 Did you raise money for them after that?
00:04:08.680 And she said, oh, yeah, completely unapologetically.
00:04:11.380 I laughed.
00:04:11.960 I said, look, I don't know in 10 years in the Senate that I've ever seen a nominee who supports
00:04:17.660 a group that attacks half the senators on the committee that are supposed to confirm her.
00:04:22.620 It was remarkable.
00:04:25.160 Now, I'll tell you a funny epilogue to this.
00:04:27.720 Because I said at the hearing, I said, listen, I'm kind of offended.
00:04:34.080 Like, this group has attacked half the senators here, but they haven't attacked me.
00:04:38.380 Like, what do I have to do to get this left-wing group mad at me?
00:04:42.080 I would have thought I have done sufficient to attract their ire.
00:04:47.160 And I'm feeling kind of neglected here.
00:04:49.220 Now, this group, they heard what I said, and I guess it prompted them to action.
00:04:55.140 So they launched online a crowdfunding effort to raise money to put up a billboard attacking me.
00:05:03.000 So the billboard has a picture of me, and it has a website, tedcruzhatesfreespeech.com.
00:05:12.540 I'm sorry.
00:05:13.880 I was not expecting that to be the name of the website, but go ahead.
00:05:17.040 So set aside that if there's – I don't know that there's anything I love more than free speech.
00:05:23.160 Yeah.
00:05:23.880 Other than God, my family, and America.
00:05:26.760 But free speech is intimately intertwined with that.
00:05:30.400 But here's the part that's beautiful, Ben.
00:05:33.080 This left-wing group, they're really partisan, but they're not very good.
00:05:37.420 So they didn't actually buy the website.
00:05:43.580 So the billboard that they were crowdfunding to raise, the website was still available, so I bought it.
00:05:50.040 And so I now own the website, tedcruzhatesfreespeech.com.
00:05:53.900 And I promptly turned it into a campaign fundraising website, and I tweeted out and said,
00:05:59.700 hey, I really appreciate you guys putting this billboard up and urging people to go to this website to contribute to my Senate reelect.
00:06:06.080 That's just an amazing thing.
00:06:08.340 That might be the best investment you've ever made in any website ever.
00:06:11.900 You may have missed the investment window on some of the big stuff, but at least you got that website.
00:06:17.800 It was really – so her record is extreme.
00:06:22.120 It was she is a partisan advocate, and Biden was giving in to the radical left by trying to name her to the FCC because I believe he wanted to use government power to silence conservative voters,
00:06:38.580 to attack Fox News, to attack conservative outlets, and to advance an extreme partisan agenda.
00:06:47.240 In the Commerce Committee, we managed to hold all the Republicans together, and multiple Democrats expressed skepticism.
00:06:57.920 Well, today, midday, Joe Manchin put out a statement saying he was a no.
00:07:02.400 He was voting no.
00:07:03.220 And about an hour later, we got a formal announcement that Gigi Sohn was withdrawing her nomination.
00:07:12.800 The White House was withdrawing her nomination.
00:07:14.720 Now, I'll tell you, I was actually sitting at lunch with my colleagues.
00:07:18.380 All the Republican senators have lunch together every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
00:07:21.620 So I was sitting at lunch.
00:07:22.480 At like 1.50 p.m., the lunch typically runs from 12.30 to 2 p.m., at like 1.50 p.m., my staff director sends me a text and says,
00:07:32.060 hey, we're hearing lots of rumors in town that Gigi Sohn is going to withdraw.
00:07:35.820 And I'm like, okay, great.
00:07:37.500 How reliable are these rumors?
00:07:38.900 Are they real?
00:07:40.280 And he's like, well, it's kind of the lobby crew in town, but most of their rumors have been pretty accurate on this.
00:07:45.860 And so I'm like, well, try to nail this down.
00:07:47.780 And I want to know for sure.
00:07:49.380 And then at about 1.57, so about three minutes before the lunch is over, my guys send me a text of the media stories that had just broken saying the White House had withdrawn her nomination.
00:08:01.920 So I stood up at lunch.
00:08:03.420 It was the very end of lunch.
00:08:04.720 And I said, hey, just wanted everyone to let you know the news just broke about two minutes ago.
00:08:09.900 The White House has withdrawn Gigi Sohn's nomination.
00:08:12.600 I'll tell you, the entire Republican conference broke out in applause.
00:08:18.200 That's awesome.
00:08:19.160 And I really gave a testament to all of the Republicans on the Commerce Committee who stayed united, who stayed focused.
00:08:25.980 You know, in my new role as ranking member, we tried very hard to work with each of their teams to help each of the members focus on a different aspect of her record.
00:08:34.480 But it was a comprehensive effort to make clear she is not for someone on an independent agency like the FCC.
00:08:45.220 You want someone fair.
00:08:46.220 You want someone impartial.
00:08:47.600 You want someone who will respect free speech.
00:08:50.480 This was a nominee who was not.
00:08:53.080 And as of today, this nomination has been defeated.
00:08:56.100 It's a success story coming out of Washington that we wanted to make sure people knew about, because this is what happens when people expose these individuals and let everybody know.
00:09:07.460 And this podcast played a pivotal role in exposing who this nominee was and why they were not qualified.
00:09:14.540 And this is a victory we should all enjoy.
00:09:17.280 And the important thing, Ben, also to underscore, look, we beat her in a Democrat Senate, which means if it were just a party line vote,
00:09:25.900 if it were just all the D's vote yes, all the R's vote no, she would have been confirmed.
00:09:31.300 So to beat her, we held all the R's together, but we also picked off several D's.
00:09:37.040 And actually, from what I'm hearing, there may have been as many as four, five, six Democrats who were going to vote no.
00:09:42.980 And so that was really a big victory, because I got to tell you, Democrat senators have been willing to vote for some of the most extreme nominees I've ever seen.
00:09:52.960 So to actually flip them was a great victory for free speech today.
00:09:59.460 Yeah, no doubt about it. It was awesome.
00:10:01.000 I want to get to this other issue, and it was a shocking issue, of four Americans that were taken hostage in Mexico.
00:10:07.820 Before we get into that story, though, I want to tell you about our friends at Chalk, and you know how much the left hates real men, men that are masculine.
00:10:16.360 And if you are getting older and you're losing a little bit of that edge, then you need to know about Chalk, C-H-O-Q.
00:10:23.180 What do they do?
00:10:24.240 They're here to help real American men maximize their masculinity by boosting testosterone levels up to 20% over 90 days.
00:10:33.420 Now, I'm taking the Chalk male vitality stack.
00:10:38.160 I can tell you it works.
00:10:39.700 I've been using it now for, what, three and a half, four weeks, and you too can maximize your masculinity, get those testosterone levels back up.
00:10:47.360 That'll irritate the left, I can promise you that.
00:10:49.720 All you got to do is go to Chalk, C-H-O-Q.com.
00:10:53.020 Use the promo code BEN, and you'll get 35% off any Chalk subscription for life, C-H-O-Q.com.
00:11:01.700 Promo code BEN for 35% off, C-H-O-Q.com.
00:11:05.580 Senator, there was a story that was really a shocking story.
00:11:09.440 It also came along with video, and that video showed four Americans who had traveled into Mexico, right across the border with Texas, going into Mexico.
00:11:20.620 They were then ambushed.
00:11:23.300 Two of them died.
00:11:24.780 They were taken and thrown into the back of a white pickup truck.
00:11:28.040 We saw this.
00:11:29.400 The most shocking part for me was not that the cartels did this.
00:11:33.380 It was the fact that the president of the United States of America had nothing to say about it when these, at that point, we didn't know if anyone had actually been killed yet of these Americans.
00:11:44.120 And the White House was asked about, what is the president doing and saying?
00:11:48.020 And the White House press secretary, all she had to offer the American people and these hostages was this.
00:11:54.380 Thank you.
00:11:55.140 I wanted to follow up on the issue about the four U.S. citizens kidnapping Mexico.
00:12:00.720 Has the president been informed?
00:12:02.780 What was his reaction?
00:12:03.920 You can say anything about that.
00:12:05.980 I can tell you the president is aware and has been informed.
00:12:09.140 That's it.
00:12:10.320 You're an American.
00:12:11.140 You're held hostage in Mexico.
00:12:12.620 You're asked about it.
00:12:13.460 And the White House says he has been informed, Senator.
00:12:16.860 He is aware that is all he had to say about this.
00:12:20.640 And now we found out two of the four are dead.
00:12:22.560 Your reaction.
00:12:24.360 Look, Ben, I really wish we had a commander in chief.
00:12:27.900 That reaction is pitiful.
00:12:30.700 Anyone who kills an American citizen should face serious consequences, should be held to account.
00:12:36.640 And the president was AWOL.
00:12:40.940 He had four Americans.
00:12:42.240 The story as we know it right now, more facts may come out, but as we know it right now, four Americans from South Carolina who traveled down to Mexico so that one of them, a woman, could get a medical procedure, a tummy tuck.
00:12:53.920 They drove down there in a rental car, and what's being reported right now is the Gulf cartel believed that they were Haitian smugglers, either drug smugglers or human smugglers.
00:13:07.220 We don't know the exact details, and opened fire on them.
00:13:10.960 And two of them were killed.
00:13:14.380 The third was injured, shot in the leg.
00:13:17.680 And the two that lived were taken hostage for several days.
00:13:20.960 And the president publicly didn't say a damn word.
00:13:26.280 The president ought to stand up right now, and he should have stood up when they were taken before we knew their situation and said, release these Americans.
00:13:33.420 America will not stand by while you kidnap Americans, while you shoot Americans, while you murder Americans.
00:13:39.120 And particularly, this happened just south of the U.S.-Mexico border, just south of our southern border.
00:13:46.400 Let me say secondly, this crisis was caused by Joe Biden.
00:13:53.020 Joe Biden's open border policies have caused the worst crisis on our southern border in our nation's history.
00:14:02.180 In two and a half years, we've seen over five and a half million illegal aliens crossing the border.
00:14:08.640 We saw last year more than 100,000 drug overdoses in the United States, the highest level in history.
00:14:18.140 More than half of those are Chinese fentanyl flooding across the border.
00:14:22.400 But I'll tell you one of the real consequences.
00:14:24.740 So Biden came in, and Biden and Harris together in the first week, they did three things.
00:14:30.120 They made three political decisions that caused this crisis.
00:14:33.100 Number one, they immediately halted construction of the border wall.
00:14:36.140 Number two, they reinstated the failed policy of catch and release.
00:14:41.140 And number three, they pulled out of the incredibly successful remain in Mexico policy.
00:14:47.480 That combination of policy and political decisions caused this border crisis.
00:14:52.860 But let me tell you the real effects.
00:14:55.620 According to the New York Times, in the year 2018, the drug cartels in Mexico made roughly $500 million.
00:15:02.960 Now, listen, $500 million is a lot of money.
00:15:06.920 They were doing quite well.
00:15:09.420 Last year, do you know how much they made?
00:15:12.080 How much?
00:15:14.000 $13 billion.
00:15:17.660 That is 2,600% more.
00:15:21.540 Yes, it is, without exaggeration, the single best thing that has ever happened to Mexican drug cartels and drug lords is Joe Biden becoming president.
00:15:35.300 Their profits went up 2,600%.
00:15:40.220 $13 billion, by the way, of that money, roughly half the money they make is from human trafficking, from bringing human beings across the border in horrible conditions of squalor and abuse.
00:15:53.520 And roughly half of it is from drug trafficking.
00:15:56.100 So, why do these cartels feel that they have the power to kidnap and murder American citizens?
00:16:04.400 Well, when you're vicious terrorists, when you're violent criminals, when you are cruel and abusive, and you got $13 billion, sadly, the impact in a country is terrible.
00:16:17.520 And Joe Biden caused this.
00:16:19.760 It is tragic, and it's unacceptable.
00:16:21.780 The Attorney General Bill Barr, former Attorney General Bill Barr, was asked about this, and he obviously had to deal a lot with Mexico when he was in charge.
00:16:30.680 Under the Trump administration, he summed it up by putting it this way.
00:16:35.000 The Mexican government is being held hostage by tens of thousands of paramilitary members of terrorist organizations that effectively control Mexico.
00:16:45.100 It's pretty close at this stage to a failed narco state.
00:16:48.320 They can use violence and oceans of cash to corrupt the government.
00:16:55.100 The government has no will, and it doesn't have the ability to deal with the cartels.
00:17:00.760 And they are sitting next door, producing mountains of poisonous drugs and killing over 100,000 Americans a year,
00:17:11.560 which was at the height of World War II, that was our killed in action rate.
00:17:15.620 So we are sustaining the same damage as we would in a major war from these groups operating right beyond our reach.
00:17:24.760 Senator, when you put it in perspective the way that he did, talking about the number of people that have died,
00:17:31.660 you know, the killing of over 100,000 Americans a year, which was what we were dealing with the height of World War II,
00:17:37.000 that was our killed in action rate, and we're sustaining those losses right now because of an open border, because of this president,
00:17:46.220 and he doesn't seem to have any connection to reality or want to stop the death of all these Americans.
00:17:54.420 And even when Americans are being taken hostage, did you ever think you would see a day where a president wouldn't immediately come out to the White House press briefing and say,
00:18:01.980 I want to make it clear the cartels, whoever took these Americans, you better return them or we will unleash holy hell on you.
00:18:08.240 And if the Mexican government is the failure that was just described here by Bill Barr, that's basically a narco state,
00:18:17.080 and you know that because he was just down there, why wouldn't you have said this because you had no honest ability to believe that the Mexican government
00:18:25.740 was going to be able to find these people before two or three or four die?
00:18:29.160 Well, because Joe Biden is an unbelievably weak president.
00:18:36.140 Listen, Bill Barr, as you know, he's been a friend for a long time, for 20 years.
00:18:40.520 We've had Bill Barr as a guest on this podcast when he was attorney general under Donald Trump,
00:18:46.080 and Barr has spent a lifetime fighting for law and order, fighting against drug dealers, fighting against human traffickers,
00:18:53.340 fighting to keep innocent people safe.
00:18:56.940 And the condition in Mexico is tragic.
00:18:59.160 These drug cartels are more powerful than they have ever been in the history of Mexico or the history of the world.
00:19:08.040 And Joe Biden is making them powerful.
00:19:10.120 He is making them incredibly rich by allowing their businesses to flourish and prosper.
00:19:16.840 And listen, Bill Barr is right that the Mexican government, sadly, has at best turned a blind eye to the horrific predations of these drug cartels,
00:19:27.240 and at worst, has been complicit in them.
00:19:30.520 You know, it was really striking when Biden went down to Mexico and did a press conference with AMLO,
00:19:37.160 the extreme leftist president of Mexico.
00:19:40.420 AMLO praised him effusively in Spanish.
00:19:42.640 We played it on this podcast.
00:19:44.780 He praised him as being the first president in modern times, Republican or Democrat,
00:19:49.160 not to build a single meter of border wall.
00:19:54.120 Now, AMLO was praising him for essentially abandoning his obligation to protect America and keep us safe.
00:19:59.800 But that is also the praise of someone talking about a president of the United States who AMLO believes is weak,
00:20:07.840 who AMLO believes is not formidable.
00:20:09.600 You know, last night I went on Jesse Waters, and Jesse asked me about Lindsey Graham and said,
00:20:17.080 we ought to send in the military, we ought to kill these drug cartels.
00:20:20.700 And let me be clear, Lindsey's a friend, but I don't agree with his recommendation there.
00:20:24.900 I don't think we ought to invade Mexico.
00:20:27.160 I don't think we ought to be in the business of invading foreign nations.
00:20:29.960 But I do think the president ought to make unequivocally clear to the Mexican government,
00:20:39.300 you will hunt down, you will send in the Mexican army,
00:20:42.920 you will arrest these cartel members that murdered these American citizens,
00:20:46.740 you will extradite them to the United States,
00:20:49.100 and they will face the full force of the justice system in the United States of America.
00:20:53.660 And you might say, well, gosh, AMLO's too weak to do that, he's unwilling to do that.
00:20:57.960 I'll tell you what, when Trump was president, AMLO was terrified of Trump.
00:21:02.200 When Trump was president, AMLO agreed to the Remain in Mexico agreement.
00:21:06.760 He actually stationed thousands of Mexican soldiers on Mexico's southern border.
00:21:12.300 You know, you look at the map, Mexico's southern border along Guatemala is much,
00:21:16.320 much smaller than our southern border, which is 2,000 miles between the United States and Mexico.
00:21:22.060 If you want to stop illegal immigrations, one of the ways you do it is you seal the southern
00:21:27.920 border of Mexico, AMLO did it because he was terrified of Trump.
00:21:32.480 Because Biden is such a weak president, everyone walks all over him.
00:21:37.640 And sadly, these American citizens, they're from South Carolina,
00:21:42.560 two of them lost their lives because of the drug cartels empowered by Joe Biden.
00:21:49.860 And two of them were kidnapped while Joe Biden remained silent
00:21:54.040 and did not use the power of the United States to defend those Americans.
00:21:58.640 Yeah, it is.
00:21:59.760 It is a scary thing.
00:22:01.500 And I think the part that was the most shocking for me was the fact that we only offered up $50,000
00:22:06.740 to get information about the whereabouts.
00:22:10.880 And I said, wow, I'm basically worth $12,500.
00:22:14.620 But if you come across the border illegally, you'll get far more than that from the U.S. government.
00:22:18.940 And we're sending far more than that to people in Ukraine.
00:22:22.020 That is, again, shows you just how low the American people are on the priority list of this White House.
00:22:27.560 And, Ben, for what it's worth, I'd pony up at least $13,000 for information on you.
00:22:32.460 Thank you.
00:22:33.020 Thank you.
00:22:33.340 At least $13,000.
00:22:34.240 Hey, I got your back.
00:22:35.400 It's not $12,500, man.
00:22:36.820 You're up to the entire United States government right now.
00:22:40.780 Do I get to combine funds?
00:22:42.060 Because that's like almost $25,000 right there.
00:22:44.580 Look, I don't have a multi-trillion dollar GDP, so you should feel really good.
00:22:50.000 I just committed $13,000.
00:22:51.920 I'll be in trouble at home for that.
00:22:54.180 I'm going to get this in writing, Diaz.
00:22:55.680 If we ever go missing, we know Senator Cruz has got our back on that one.
00:23:00.320 I want to get to something else, and that is these new—
00:23:03.360 By the way, 1301, I may be like, new number.
00:23:07.380 Who dis?
00:23:08.840 I don't know.
00:23:10.300 That former person that I used to work with, yeah, I can hear the press conference right now.
00:23:15.780 At least I'd get a press conference out of it.
00:23:17.340 That would be the good news.
00:23:18.940 I got your back, big guy.
00:23:20.740 Thank you.
00:23:21.320 Thank you.
00:23:21.860 I appreciate that.
00:23:23.120 I want to get in these emails with Dr. Fauci.
00:23:26.620 Apparently, these new emails are showing that Dr. Anthony Fauci actually commissioned a scientific paper
00:23:32.260 in February of 2020 to disprove the Wuhan lab leak, quote, theory.
00:23:39.520 Before I get to that, I want to tell you about our friends at Augusta Precious Metals.
00:23:43.060 You've probably seen what's been going on with the economy.

00:24:56.240 Canadian women are looking for more, more out of themselves, their businesses, their elected
00:25:01.280 leaders, and the world around them.
00:25:03.020 And that's why we're thrilled to introduce the Honest Talk Podcast.
00:25:06.140 Senator, the more that comes out about what Fauci was up to,
00:25:32.800 it is even to me a little bit shocking now.
00:25:36.920 These new emails uncovered by the House Republicans probing the COVID-19 pandemic
00:25:42.080 are now revealing the deceptive nature of Dr. Anthony Fauci.
00:25:46.460 They show that he prompted or commissioned and had final approval on a scientific paper
00:25:53.640 written specifically in February of 2020 to disprove the theory that the virus leaked
00:25:59.780 from a Wuhan lab in China.
00:26:03.000 Eight weeks later, Fauci also stood at the White House press conference alongside Donald
00:26:07.080 Trump and cited that paper as evidence that the lab leak theory was implausible while pretending
00:26:14.460 it had nothing to do with him.
00:26:16.020 And he did not know the authors.
00:26:18.460 He was lying to the American people.
00:26:20.300 Well, sadly, we've discovered that Dr. Fauci is more than willing to lie to the American
00:26:26.520 people, and he did so throughout this pandemic.
00:26:29.720 He did so at enormous expense to his own integrity, to his own credibility, and an enormous
00:26:34.800 expense to the credibility of the scientific and medical community in this country, particularly
00:26:40.000 in the government.
00:26:40.620 This particular story was broken by Miranda Devine in the New York Post.
00:26:47.920 And I got to say, Miranda Devine has done an extraordinary job breaking these stories.
00:26:52.800 She's focused aggressively on it.
00:26:55.060 You know, when Fauci talked about this paper, he described it as a group of, quote, highly qualified
00:27:04.780 evolutionary virologists.
00:27:06.480 They looked at the sequences in bats as they evolved and the mutations that it took to get
00:27:11.640 to the point where it is now totally consistent with a jump of species from animal to human.
00:27:19.140 So he continues, the paper will be available.
00:27:22.540 I don't have the authors right now, but we can make it available to you.
00:27:26.040 So he's laying it out as this scientific paper.
00:27:31.040 It came out in Nature magazine on February 17th, 2020.
00:27:34.280 But it was written four days after Fauci held a call with the four authors to discuss reports
00:27:44.620 that COVID-19 may have been leaked from the Wuhan lab and, quote, may have been intentionally
00:27:50.620 genetically manipulated.
00:27:53.300 And the article on February 12th, Anderson, one of the authors of the article, submitted the
00:28:01.500 paper to Nature Medicine with a cover email.
00:28:04.760 There has been a lot of speculation, fear-mongering, conspiracies put forth in this space.
00:28:09.640 This paper was prompted by Jeremy Farah, Tony Fauci, and Francis Collins.
00:28:18.140 And Francis Collins was the head of the NIH, the National Institute for Health.
00:28:22.860 Farrar was the head of the British nonprofit, the Wellcome Trust, which has deep ties to the
00:28:32.080 pharmaceutical industry and the Gates Foundation.
00:28:34.200 And emails, on the day the paper was published, Farrar was pushing through a crucial change.
00:28:45.420 He said the following, this is a quote,
00:28:46.740 And his change was to replace the word unlikely with the word improbable in a statement about
00:29:02.160 the lab leak origin.
00:29:03.260 And so it would read, it is improbable that SARS-CoV-2 emerged through laboratory manipulation
00:29:12.120 of an existing SARS-related coronavirus.
00:29:17.500 If you look at it, Fauci knew what he was doing.
00:29:23.000 He prompted the scientists to write the article.
00:29:26.280 And then he turns around and holds a press conference and says, wow, look at this article.
00:29:30.860 I don't know who wrote it, who knows, but they seem really credible.
00:29:34.100 And you know what?
00:29:35.640 It says the virus didn't come from a Chinese government lab.
00:29:39.160 Now, mind you, that was false.
00:29:42.540 And Fauci had all the evidence he needed to know it was false.
00:29:47.160 He did that in February 2020.
00:29:48.960 Remember, this podcast in March of 2020, one month later, laid out the facts then that I
00:29:57.680 think made it indisputably likely that it had escaped from a Chinese government lab.
00:30:03.540 But Dr. Fauci didn't like that political story and so was willing to essentially fabricate
00:30:10.140 evidence to prompt a scientific study that would enable him to turn around and say, gosh,
00:30:17.960 I'm just following the science when I believe he knew he was misleading the American people.
00:30:23.220 Yeah, the way he put it at that press conference just showed how shady this was.
00:30:28.340 Hey, get me this and then I'll cite it like I didn't know about it, like you guys are independent.
00:30:32.680 And they're and they're literally colluding on this on the phone ahead of time.
00:30:36.940 And then when he brings the American people, it's like, I had nothing to do with this.
00:30:39.780 Just found this independent study.
00:30:41.860 And this is par for the course now with what we're finding out through these investigations.
00:30:46.500 The question is, though, will there be any accountability for this?
00:30:49.980 Fauci got paid. He got famous. He walked away from from our government being the highest paid
00:30:55.900 bureaucrat on our payroll in our government.
00:30:59.040 Do you believe that even with all of this coming out, will there be any accountability?
00:31:04.300 Because at this point, I think that's what so many Americans want.
00:31:07.680 They just want to know that somebody is going to get in trouble for what they did to us in
00:31:13.160 this country with covid lockdowns, et cetera.
00:31:15.240 So sadly, I don't believe there's going to be any federal criminal liability.
00:31:19.600 And the reason is simple. Under our Constitution, there's one person and one person only on the
00:31:24.100 face of the planet that can bring federal criminal charges.
00:31:26.980 His name is Merrick Garland. He is the attorney general of the United States.
00:31:30.740 He is, as we've talked about on this podcast multiple times, I think the most political
00:31:35.220 attorney general this country's ever seen.
00:31:37.680 I've asked Merrick Garland repeatedly if he's willing to investigate Anthony Fauci,
00:31:42.240 if he's willing to prosecute Anthony Fauci for lying to the Congress.
00:31:45.920 And Merrick Garland has refused to give a straight answer to that.
00:31:49.460 As you and I said on this podcast at CPAC last week, Merrick Garland might actually rival and
00:31:57.380 even exceed Anthony Fauci for arrogance and self-satisfied hubris.
00:32:05.680 And that's hard to do.
00:32:06.940 It is astonishingly hard to do.
00:32:12.040 Both of them, I think, have done enormous damage.
00:32:14.820 I think there will be accountability for Fauci, number one, in public opinion and public record.
00:32:19.200 And it's one of the values, what we're trying to do in the Senate, what we're trying to do in this
00:32:24.380 podcast, what the House majority is doing with its subpoena power and its investigation.
00:32:30.160 Sunlight is powerful.
00:32:31.280 More and more people are learning that Anthony Fauci was a liar.
00:32:37.280 But he wasn't just a liar.
00:32:38.540 He was a deliberate liar.
00:32:39.780 He knew he was lying.
00:32:40.900 He was willing to put politics above science and medicine.
00:32:45.500 And on the left, you know, the left lives so often.
00:32:50.180 And by the left, I mean Democrats.
00:32:51.680 I mean the bureaucratic estate of the regulators in our government.
00:33:00.240 And I mean the media, the corporate media.
00:33:02.760 They live in a fact-free environment where they have a narrative, they tell facts, they
00:33:07.720 tell a story, and the facts don't matter.
00:33:10.200 And we now know not one but two agencies in the Biden administration admit what was obvious
00:33:16.700 three years ago, which is that COVID likely escaped from a Chinese government lab.
00:33:21.640 At this point, the Biden Department of Energy has concluded that, and the Biden FBI has concluded
00:33:26.180 that.
00:33:26.500 And that means when Fauci was teeing up these, quote, scientific articles, he was deliberately
00:33:34.960 creating materials that were deceptive.
00:33:38.900 And the American people ought to be really ticked off.
00:33:41.900 Why was Tony Fauci trying to cover up for communist China and for its culpability in this pandemic?
00:33:48.880 Yeah, no doubt about it.
00:33:50.100 And more of this is coming out.
00:33:51.280 We'll keep you updated on what is found, specifically from the Republicans on the House side as they're
00:33:57.660 continuing to look into this.
00:33:59.560 Finally, Senator, I want to talk about January the 6th, and these tapes have come out.
00:34:04.400 They are being broadcast.
00:34:06.120 The footage is being looked at.
00:34:07.700 The leadership of the Republican Party in the Senate side, Mitch McConnell, saying he doesn't
00:34:13.080 really like how this is going down.
00:34:14.840 And I want to get your reaction to that.
00:34:16.160 But before I do that, I want to tell you about our friends at Patriot Mobile.
00:34:19.680 If you want to vote with your dollars and you want to have an impact with your dollars, you want to give

00:34:47.220 First and Second Amendment causes.
00:34:50.440 Also, they give money to support the rights of unborn children and even help with adoptions.

00:35:23.120 Or online at PatriotMobile.com slash VERDICT.
00:35:26.580 That's PatriotMobile.com slash VERDICT.
00:35:30.200 But Senator, January the 6th, there's been a lot of fodder.
00:35:35.020 I've said this.
00:35:35.800 You and I have talked about this.
00:35:37.140 If you were attacking police, you deserve to be arrested and go to jail.
00:35:40.100 If you're breaking down windows, you deserve to be arrested and go to jail.
00:35:43.580 But there's a lot of tape that's now coming out.
00:35:45.940 And it's nothing like 9-11, which Democrats have said that it was like that day.
00:35:52.280 And now we're finding out about the lies of the January 6th committee, where apparently
00:35:56.900 they were altering sound.
00:35:59.360 They were altering tape.
00:36:01.840 The man who led that committee, Benny Thompson, was asked about this earlier by a reporter,
00:36:09.100 Carrie Pickett, at the Washington Times.
00:36:11.700 This is what was said in the back and forth.
00:36:14.440 The presentation that came out last night, calling the January 6th, Carrie Pickett, Washington
00:36:20.680 Times.
00:36:21.640 What's your thoughts?
00:36:22.440 This is calling the January 6th select committee liars, saying you guys selectively edited the
00:36:27.700 tapes, so that you guys pretty much, Tucker Carlson, particularly the way you guys put
00:36:35.360 out selectively edited clips, put in sound that didn't exist from the producers, from the
00:36:42.440 NBC.
00:36:44.440 That's not true.
00:36:45.440 Tell me.
00:36:46.440 I just told you it's not true.
00:36:49.440 Well then, what you want me to do, it's not true.
00:36:54.060 Okay, Senator Hawley, the clip of him running by himself when the fact that there are a whole
00:36:58.680 bunch of senators who are actually running out together when he was mocked, is that true
00:37:04.040 or is that not true?
00:37:06.260 Say that again?
00:37:07.200 Senator Hawley running by himself when he was running with a whole bunch of other senators?
00:37:10.240 You saw him running.
00:37:11.560 He was running with a whole bunch of other senators, though.
00:37:13.220 You saw him running.
00:37:14.120 He was running with a whole bunch of other senators.
00:37:16.000 I stand by the tape that just says tell you how.
00:37:18.900 What about Jacob Chansley?
00:37:21.540 He was completely peaceful.
00:37:24.160 I don't know him.
00:37:26.280 Thank you, sir.
00:37:26.940 I don't know him.
00:37:28.640 Senator, this is the guy who ran the January 6th committee.
00:37:32.600 He's saying, we didn't change any video, except when you see the raw video, it's very clear
00:37:38.160 that the January 6th committee who hired TV executives to come, producers to come run
00:37:44.060 their hearings, they edited the hell out of these tapes and put things up there that just
00:37:48.820 didn't happen.
00:37:49.940 The January 6th committee in the House of Representatives was a kangaroo court.
00:37:55.080 It was designed to be a political circus.
00:37:57.640 Nancy Pelosi structured it so it had only Democrats and two Republicans who would go
00:38:04.260 along with the Democrats on everything.
00:38:06.640 When Republicans wanted to put real Republicans who would stand up and actually cross-examine
00:38:13.220 witnesses, actually try to get to the facts of what happened, Pelosi said, nope, nope, we
00:38:17.680 don't want any cross-examination.
00:38:19.320 We don't want any facts.
00:38:20.660 This is a political circus.
00:38:23.320 So, for example, Kevin McCarthy wanted to put Jim Jordan on.
00:38:27.980 Jim Jordan would have questioned the hell out of every one of those witnesses.
00:38:31.280 Nancy Pelosi said, oh, no, no, no, our witnesses can't handle questioning.
00:38:34.940 No, no, no, we don't want him there.
00:38:36.860 You know, an ordinary congressional committee, you have a roughly equal number of members
00:38:43.500 from both sides, which means every witness that comes before them gets questioned by both
00:38:49.000 sides.
00:38:49.320 And there's a virtue to the give and take of a hearing.
00:38:54.220 If you think about it, a criminal trial, a criminal trial would be very different if
00:38:58.220 the prosecution were the only people allowed to talk.
00:39:00.300 Like, if the defense lawyer didn't get to speak, you just had the prosecution present evidence.
00:39:05.460 You know what?
00:39:06.640 Just about everyone would get convicted.
00:39:08.780 It would take a terrible prosecutor who couldn't convict if the defense lawyer wasn't allowed
00:39:13.980 to talk, wasn't allowed to question witnesses.
00:39:15.740 That's what Nancy Pelosi did with the January 6th committee.
00:39:20.180 She basically set up, it was, and you mentioned, they hired a Hollywood producer, a producer from
00:39:27.460 Good Morning America, to put on a political infomercial.
00:39:32.040 And the infomercial was designed to tell one story about January 6th that was deliberately
00:39:37.580 one-sided.
00:39:39.060 And so I'm very glad Kevin McCarthy has handed the footage over from January 6th over to Tucker
00:39:44.660 Carlson, his show that he put out this week where he went through that video and he showed
00:39:49.340 a lot of portions of video that were totally different from what that kangaroo court put out.
00:39:55.940 And I think it's important for the American people to know what happened.
00:40:00.740 As you said a minute ago, Ben, anyone on January 6th who committed a crime of violence,
00:40:07.320 anyone who assaulted a police officer, that person should be prosecuted and go to jail.
00:40:12.560 You don't get to commit a crime of violence.
00:40:14.400 Whether I agree with your politics or I don't, violence is a crime and you should go to jail.
00:40:20.920 But anyone who engaged in peaceful protests, who simply spoke what they believed, there were
00:40:27.240 thousands upon thousands of peaceful protesters there on January 6th who didn't violate the law,
00:40:33.600 they exercised their First Amendment rights.
00:40:36.220 And for two years we've seen Democrats and the corporate media cynically trying to paint those
00:40:42.260 little old ladies waving American flags and singing God Bless America with the action of a
00:40:48.180 much smaller number of individuals who committed crimes of violence.
00:40:52.020 And so releasing this video is really powerful to show, as you played in that exchange with
00:40:59.900 the Washington Times reporter.
00:41:01.020 Remember, the January 6th committee released a video and then added a soundtrack.
00:41:06.200 It's like a sitcom adding the laugh track.
00:41:08.600 They added noise that's not in the video.
00:41:11.620 Why?
00:41:11.980 Because it made really good TV.
00:41:13.420 Wow, it sounded scary.
00:41:14.860 They put a lot of scary noise there, so that must have been what it was like.
00:41:18.440 And my hope is that this video gets reviewed and gets made available to the public, I hope
00:41:27.560 much more widely than Tucker Carlson.
00:41:29.340 I'm glad Tucker is making it available, but I think it ought to be available more widely
00:41:33.960 so we can get a true and accurate picture of what happened.
00:41:38.440 Those that committed crimes of violence can be held accountable, but those who are being
00:41:42.400 persecuted for their political views, which is what the Biden administration can do,
00:41:47.100 they can be exonerated.
00:41:49.120 And this video is powerful on both fronts.
00:41:52.300 You mentioned the other day, and you asked the question of the FBI about Ray Epps specifically.
00:41:58.820 And I think we should go back to that because one of the things that Tucker Carlson focused
00:42:04.220 on on his second show was Ray Epps.
00:42:07.420 Here's 35 seconds of what he showed in these videos that many people have never seen about
00:42:13.660 Ray Epps, who you asked about the FBI.
00:42:16.340 Listen to this.
00:42:17.260 Tonight, we can tell you that at the very least, Ray Epps lied in his sworn testimony to the
00:42:22.340 January 6th committee.
00:42:24.200 Epps testified that when he sent the text messages to his nephew, he had already left the Capitol
00:42:29.340 grounds to return to his hotel room.
00:42:31.720 That is not true.
00:42:33.680 The surveillance footage we found shows that, in fact, Ray Epps remained at the Capitol for
00:42:38.820 at least another half an hour.
00:42:40.820 You're seeing that on your screen now.
00:42:42.560 What was Epps doing there?
00:42:44.380 We can't say.
00:42:45.480 But we do know that he lied to investigators.
00:42:48.860 The January 6th committee likely knew this, too.
00:42:51.560 Democrats had access to the same tape.
00:42:53.880 Yet they defended Ray Epps.
00:42:56.120 No honest investigation would do that.
00:42:59.180 But the point of the January 6th committee was never to investigate anything.
00:43:03.060 The point was to stage a made-for-TV show trial.
00:43:06.000 I mean, we see the timestamp.
00:43:09.860 You see that Ray Epps at least lied about this.
00:43:12.600 Have you still, and is there any chance that we're going to get a straight answer on who
00:43:16.320 the hell Ray Epps is, and is he an informant?
00:43:18.720 Was he put there by the FBI?
00:43:21.220 Well, sadly, from the Biden Justice Department, from the Biden FBI, I think the chances are very
00:43:27.040 slim.
00:43:28.020 I would encourage podcast listeners, go back and Google a podcast we did a long time ago
00:43:33.240 that is entitled, Who is Ray Epps?
00:43:35.920 And we devoted an entire episode of verdict to that question.
00:43:40.900 And it followed a Judiciary Committee hearing in which I was questioning senior officials from
00:43:45.820 the Department of Justice and from the FBI.
00:43:48.140 And I asked them about how many undercover agents they had at the protest on January 6th.
00:43:55.820 They refused to answer.
00:43:56.860 How many of them, did any of them engage in acts of violence?
00:43:59.480 They refused to answer.
00:44:00.380 Did any of them encourage or incite others to engage in acts of violence?
00:44:04.540 They refused to answer.
00:44:05.880 If you look at Ray Epps, his behavior at the time, where he's urging people, we must go
00:44:10.600 into the Capitol, not just to the Capitol, we must go into the Capitol.
00:44:14.040 And it's really quite remarkable.
00:44:15.220 You watch the video.
00:44:16.700 The crowd starts chanting at Ray Epps, Fed, Fed, Fed.
00:44:22.440 The crowd believes he is working for the federal government.
00:44:26.100 And I got to say, the lack of willingness to answer those questions from the Biden administration
00:44:35.140 is incredibly troubling.
00:44:37.540 Look, if someone commits a violent crime, they should be prosecuted.
00:44:41.500 But there's an exception to that, which is if the federal government incites that crime,
00:44:48.680 if the federal government entraps someone, in other words, an undercover cop can't come
00:44:55.720 to your house and say, hey, Ben, have you looked down the street?
00:44:59.480 There's a liquor store there.
00:45:01.240 Maybe we ought to go knock off the liquor store.
00:45:03.020 What do you think?
00:45:03.540 And you're like, oh, I don't know.
00:45:05.280 I don't really need to do that.
00:45:06.440 Come on, man.
00:45:06.900 We can do it.
00:45:07.400 We can do it.
00:45:08.100 And if you go knock off the liquor store, you know what?
00:45:10.780 At your criminal prosecution, you can raise a defense of entrapment and say, wait a second.
00:45:14.580 It was law enforcement who came up with the idea.
00:45:18.760 It was law enforcement who encouraged me to do it.
00:45:20.840 I wouldn't have done it.
00:45:22.040 I was sitting at home recording a podcast until suddenly someone knocked on my door and said,
00:45:27.840 let's go knock off a liquor store.
00:45:29.920 The government can't do that.
00:45:32.000 And so the question on January 6th, one of the most important questions, is to what extent
00:45:38.640 did federal law enforcement incite and entrap people into criminal violations?
00:45:45.800 And the fact that Tucker has aired what appears to be video contradicting Ray Epps' testimony,
00:45:53.860 that raises serious questions.
00:45:56.340 And it's amazing.
00:45:58.140 The Democrats on the January 6th committee, when asked about Ray Epps, they hate every single
00:46:04.460 person who was at January 6th.
00:46:06.160 They're all evil, horrific insurrectionists, except Ray Epps, and they defend him like crazy,
00:46:12.020 which I got to admit, when you have hardcore partisans defending someone, that certainly
00:46:17.600 raises some questions.
00:46:19.320 Why are they defending him?
00:46:20.640 And to be clear, Ray Epps has never been charged with any crimes.
00:46:23.640 Absolutely true.
00:46:24.880 And I don't know, maybe there is an explanation, but on the face of it, so there's another video
00:46:30.960 where he's in the crowd, he whispers in a guy's ear, and seconds later, the guy starts tearing
00:46:37.760 down the barricades to go into the Capitol.
00:46:40.880 That conduct appears to be encouraging him to violate the law.
00:46:46.520 We don't know what he whispered.
00:46:48.300 But the fact that the FBI won't answer that question, and listen, I get it.
00:46:54.040 As a general matter, your dad was in law enforcement for a long time.
00:46:59.360 As a general matter, you sent in an undercover cop.
00:47:02.280 You don't admit who the undercover cop is.
00:47:04.460 You don't admit what he's done.
00:47:05.940 And by the way, undercover policing is a legitimate form of law enforcement.
00:47:12.260 January 6th was not a typical day.
00:47:14.480 I don't think that's hyperbole to say.
00:47:16.100 The Democrats and the Biden administration have suggested it was a national tragedy on
00:47:23.020 the order of 9-11 and Pearl Harbor.
00:47:28.520 If they are going to maintain that's the case, the American people deserve to know what actually
00:47:34.460 happened that day, and they deserve to know what the precise level of culpability the federal
00:47:40.160 government bears in the criminal conduct on that day.
00:47:44.180 And yet, the Biden DOJ and the Biden FBI remain dug in and adamantly opposed to any accountability.
00:47:53.160 The FBI could answer this question.
00:47:55.860 They refuse to, and it's because they ultimately don't think the public has a right to know.
00:48:02.540 I think that represents a grotesque disrespect for the American people.
00:48:10.000 No doubt about it.
00:48:10.840 This may be one of my favorite podcasts we've ever done, Senator, because we got to cover
