00:02:57.060 It's the 47 Morning Update, and it starts right now.
00:03:00.680 Story number one.
00:03:01.960 FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino coming out telling Fox News that there appears to have been multiple warning signs that pointed to the suspect in Charlie Kirk's assassination prior to that shooting taking place.
00:03:17.380 Speaking to Bill Hemmer, Bongino said, not only does there appear to have been multiple warning signs, but there were people in the suspect's network, friends and family, who had stated that he had become more political.
00:03:30.840 He went on to say, I believe some of his co-workers said that he had kind of detached himself when the topic of politics came up and walked away from them.
00:03:41.080 He added that it seems ideology had infected him and had taken over.
00:03:46.480 I want you to hear more of what the FBI Deputy Director had to say on Fox about what we know about him, how we were able to track him, the forensics that were involved.
00:03:57.340 Listen carefully to what he had to say.
00:03:59.980 After he fired that single fatal shot, we've got the video of him jumping off the backside of the building.
00:04:06.900 Where is the gun when he drops 15 feet down to the grass below?
00:04:11.300 Well, if you look at the video, the gun is you'll see in the back of it when you when you're watching the video right there, it appears from the video here that the gun is either in the backpack or on him.
00:04:25.400 When he jumps down, this is where, by the way, this part of the video, this is where we got a significant portion of the forensic evidence in the case, which we had to expedite.
00:04:35.960 We had a number of assets, including fixed wing assets to be able to fly.
00:04:41.360 Obviously, Salt Lake and that specific area in Provo is not around the corner from FBI labs.
00:04:46.740 It was difficult.
00:04:47.680 But we were able during that scene, him grabbing that particular side of the building and jumping down.
00:04:53.520 We were able to gather a significant amount of forensic information, which we expedited back to the lab, which was the key, I think, piece of information that we were able to crack this thing open.
00:05:03.220 Just looking at that video, it's hard to see the weapon.
00:05:07.380 And that's why the question is still obvious to me today.
00:05:11.700 Kash Patel said earlier today that he expressed to someone that he had an opportunity to take out the killer and was going to do it.
00:05:21.060 Did that person do anything with that information?
00:05:25.280 Yeah, that's that's what we're we're really disturbed about.
00:05:29.620 It appears that this this was communicated.
00:05:32.660 And you see this a lot, Bill, when in targeted violence cases, assassination, school shootings, where the individual expresses in advance in a good swath of these cases, his desire or her desire to do these specific things.
00:05:46.980 That appears to be the case here as well, where the the intent component was there in advance.
00:05:53.460 And the target was was the target was announced in advance prior.
00:06:00.000 Now, that's the part we want to know.
00:06:02.140 Were they did they know and not say did they now, Bill, you have to keep in mind that I don't want anyone to jump to conclusions on this.
00:06:08.760 There's did they say it, hear it and think it was some kind of a joke?
00:06:13.220 That's what we're trying to find out now.
00:06:15.120 But I promise you, if there's a larger network here, we're going to get that out to the public as soon as we can.
00:06:20.660 We really are.
00:06:21.720 OK, the reason why this is really important to your investigation, understanding motive that I'll get to in a moment here is that I believe that if I've got the dates right here,
00:06:33.840 that that event was announced one week before it happened and we've got the reporting from over the weekend that said that the killer, the accused killer now expressed views with his family at a dinner table.
00:06:48.060 And I don't know what the timeline is between when that happened.
00:06:52.820 Was it hours or was it days?
00:06:54.600 I mean, clearly it had to be at least a couple of days, if not less.
00:06:57.560 And if he also expressed this opinion that he had an opportunity to take out Kirk and was going to do it.
00:07:04.440 Well, when was that message transmitted from the point that Charlie was killed?
00:07:09.360 This is the troubling part of the investigation.
00:07:11.400 As I see it now, there appear to have been multiple warning signs.
00:07:15.560 You just laid out some of them.
00:07:17.000 There were people in his network, friends and family who had stated that he had become more political,
00:07:24.840 that he had become at some parts, I believe some of his co-workers had stated that he had kind of detached himself when the topic of politics came up and walked away from them.
00:07:36.680 Family members said he'd become more political, leading us to believe that this ideology had infected him and had taken over.
00:07:45.600 And he was just intent, it appears, from the data we've accumulated and the channel and that note, which we have some evidence may have existed before,
00:07:56.880 based on the communications in that channel, that his target was obviously going to be Charlie and that people knew in advance.
00:08:03.420 The question is, again, I just want to go back to what you had asked before.
00:08:06.620 Did they know, were they sure of this, or did they hear this and just write it off?
00:08:11.720 That's what we're going to have to find out.
00:08:13.420 And that's what we're investigating now.
00:08:15.300 Bill, this investigation has just begun.
00:08:18.780 This isn't even the beginning of the beginning.
00:08:21.500 You know, yes, we have a subject in custody.
00:08:23.720 You know, everybody's innocent until proven guilty in our constitutional republic.
00:08:26.700 However, this is not done by any stretch.
00:08:29.800 Our men and women out there in the Bureau have worked tirelessly all weekend.
00:08:34.200 I just got back to D.C. last night.
00:08:37.880 And, you know, Cash and I were out there on the scene.
00:08:40.540 We walked the scene.
00:08:41.400 We went through every single component of it.
00:08:44.060 We saw the evidence up close and personal.
00:08:46.360 And we went out there to be able to make command decisions with our team on the ground.
00:08:50.940 And I think the process, although not perfect, of course, I think the process went pretty well,
00:08:57.540 considering we got him in 33 hours.
00:08:59.700 You listen to Bongino there, and I think one of the things that he's also talking about is,
00:09:04.820 is there accountability for those that knew or may have known what was happening here?
00:09:09.620 You go back to that key phrase.
00:09:11.340 I believe some of his co-workers say that he had kind of detached himself.
00:09:15.080 And then you move from there.
00:09:17.020 He referenced a note that Robinson allegedly left behind, pointing out that it may have
00:09:22.480 existed, quote, before, based on communications law enforcement has recovered.
00:09:28.500 He indicated the totality of everything and makes it clear that, quote, his target was obviously
00:09:34.600 going to be Charlie Kirk and that the people around him knew that that was going to be
00:09:40.800 his target in advance.
00:09:43.020 So where do you go from here?
00:09:45.460 What Bongino said is the investigators are now having to look at this.
00:09:49.200 Did they know?
00:09:50.380 Were they sure of this?
00:09:51.600 Or do they hear this and just write it off?
00:09:54.160 You put all of this together and then you put it back to the Utah governor, Spencer Cox,
00:10:00.360 indication that Charlie Kirk's allegation, quote, had not only left-leaning political beliefs,
00:10:05.380 but clearly disliked Charlie Kirk and was telling people that.
00:10:11.020 So I have to say there needs to be some sort of accountability.
00:10:15.260 There has to be some sort of obviously very good and in-depth investigation.
00:10:22.020 What we also know is there's no doubt that this is the guy.
00:10:25.860 The FBI confirming the DNA found at the scene of Charlie Kirk's assassination's hiding spot
00:10:31.180 matches the suspect.
00:10:32.980 And apparently he had confessed to his family and to some friends, including in a chat room.
00:10:38.180 And so with the confirmation now that the DNA samples found at the spot where Charlie Kirk's
00:10:44.320 session hid positively matched the suspect now in custody.
00:10:47.900 That also is going to move us forward on another point, and that is on the death penalty.
00:10:54.340 Cash Patel saying this on Fox and Friends about the DNA matching.
00:10:59.400 And I can report today that the DNA hits from the towel that was wrapped around the firearm
00:11:05.420 and the DNA on the screwdriver are positively processed for the suspect in custody.
00:11:11.680 There it is.
00:11:12.380 Cash Patel telling you that not only did the suspect's towel that wrapped around the assassin's
00:11:18.420 weapon match, the screwdriver left on the UVA rooftop, both matched the suspect already
00:11:23.780 in custody.
00:11:25.140 This is incredible work, by the way, by the men and women in law enforcement.
00:11:29.000 Robinson, by the way, also wrote a note saying, declaring that he had an opportunity to take
00:11:33.920 out Charlie Kirk and that he was going to take it.
00:11:36.900 Patel went on to say as well, saying, quote, we have since learned the note, even though it
00:11:41.600 was destroyed, we have found forensic evidence of the note, and we have confirmed that the
00:11:45.900 note said what the note said because our aggressive interview posture at the FBI.
00:11:49.720 We also know that further DNA found on the .30 caliber bolt action rifle with a scope believed
00:11:55.800 to have been used in the shooting is still being analyzed to determine its links to Robinson
00:12:00.660 as well.
00:12:01.920 Patel also confirmed that Robinson is still not cooperating with investigators.
00:12:06.640 I got to say, I am very thankful for Cash Patel, for Dan Bongino, for all of the men and
00:12:12.640 women in law enforcement that have been working on this case in the local state and at the
00:12:16.680 federal level.
00:12:17.500 What they were able to do to find him and what they've been able to do to make it very
00:12:21.280 clear he did what he did is incredible police work.
00:12:26.120 God bless them for what they're doing.
00:12:27.760 And God bless Donald Trump, by the way, for making sure that he picked the right people
00:12:32.780 for these jobs.
