00:02:25.140 you're listening to the 47 morning update with ben ferguson good thursday morning nice to have
00:02:32.620 you with us on the 47 morning update and we've got two big stories for you first up operation
00:02:38.200 riptide it is ripping into fraud and now we have some of the biggest fraud catches so far all
00:02:45.020 because of president donald trump's leadership also gavin newsom he has no problem attacking
00:02:51.140 the President and the White House, but now the media seems to be looking the other way
00:02:55.280 on some of his serious legal problems.
00:02:58.180 We explain it to you.
00:02:59.520 But before we get to that, I want to take a moment and ask you to help the people in
00:03:03.940 Israel with my friends at the IFCJ working right now on the ground for all those in need.
00:03:10.080 From America's Revolutionary War to Israel's fight for survival in 1948, both nations have
00:03:17.780 moments that tested their courage, yet freedom endured. In October of 1985, President Ronald
00:03:24.360 Reagan delivered these remarks about America's commitment to stand with Israel. In our talks,
00:03:29.500 we paid special attention to two issues, our commitment to Israel's security and well-being
00:03:34.200 and our shared desire to move forward together toward a just and lasting peace between Israel
00:03:39.280 and all its Arab neighbors. A strong, secure Israel is a shared interest. As America celebrates its
00:03:45.580 250th anniversary the international fellowship of christians and jews reflects on the friendship
00:03:51.700 between the united states and israel two democracies built on faith liberty and hope
00:03:57.900 sign up to receive a free usa israel flag pin when you go online to flag pin ifcj.org that's
00:04:07.780 flagpinifcj.org it's the 47 morning update and it starts right now story number one all right i
00:04:16.460 want to take you back in time for a moment remember donald trump when he was running for president he
00:04:20.280 said hey if you elect me i'm gonna get rid of waste fraud and abuse i'm gonna clean house in
00:04:24.440 the in the swamp in the deep state and i'm gonna find great americans who actually serve the
00:04:29.540 interest of the president's agenda which you guys are voting for well here's another example of that
00:04:36.540 campaign promise paying off big time. The FBI has busted now several fraud schemes across the
00:04:43.640 country in the last few weeks. The FBI director, Cash Patel, said in the latest weekly update to
00:04:50.300 the agency, Patel highlighted some of the results of Operation Riptide. Now, that operation focused
00:04:57.320 on criminal actors and the key services they rely on, as well as their infrastructure, their tools
00:05:03.440 and their services and their communication platforms, and then their money.
00:05:08.860 FBI Cleveland, for instance, disrupted a Chinese phishing platform linked to the theft of
00:05:14.660 millions of credit card numbers and nearly, and this is the part that, again, this goes 0.93
00:05:19.920 back to the Chinese and why you don't want to trust them with things like AI, nearly 0.99
00:05:23.840 $1.9 billion in losses worldwide. 1.00
00:05:27.420 I didn't say $1.9 million.
00:05:29.040 I said $1.9 billion in losses worldwide, Cash Patel has now revealed.
00:05:36.420 Now, as a result of these efforts of the FBI just in Charlotte,
00:05:40.220 they said two individuals were convicted for operating a business email compromise scheme
00:05:45.860 that stole $25 million alone from U.S. companies.
00:05:50.740 Thanks to FBI Boston, our cyber division, and international partners,
00:05:55.140 We helped dismantle a VPN service used to buy ransomware groups around the world.
00:06:01.800 He said this is exactly what Operation Riptide is about,
00:06:05.140 targeting the cybercriminal ecosystem at every level.
00:06:08.020 And we're just getting started.
00:06:10.360 Now, fraudsters have also been targeted by the FBI in Los Angeles, for instance.
00:06:15.500 An Orange County man was arrested for carrying out a nearly $100 million bank fraud scheme.
00:06:23.080 This according to Patel.
00:06:24.620 Thanks to FBI Milwaukee, a Wisconsin man also pleaded guilty to defrauding nearly 190 investors out of more than $14 million.
00:06:32.320 Then out of New Orleans, a Texas man was indicted for running a $4 million investment fraud scam that victimized more than 20 people, he said.
00:06:41.320 Noting that a Texas couple had also been indicted for stealing more than $2.5 million from vulnerable victims through a year-long fraud scheme.
00:06:53.140 Thanks, they said, to FBI Seattle.
00:06:55.780 They also said that fraud scheme was a psychic fraud scheme.
00:06:58.920 So, again, preying on weak.
00:07:01.560 Patel added the FBI Pittsburgh also announced charges against an Ohio woman accused of embezzling more than $460,000 from a law firm that she was working at as a paralegal.
00:07:12.940 Seven other individuals, for example, in Las Vegas were arrested for exploiting coronavirus relief programs.
00:07:19.940 programs. You can also go all the way up to Alaska, where an individual there was sentenced
00:07:25.280 to prison for defrauding those programs as well. Now, the FBI also targeted violent criminals
00:07:31.120 taking illegal weapons off the streets. In Birmingham, for example, they had a Operation
00:07:36.640 Safer Communities resulted in 36 arrests and seizure of 11 firearms as part of Summer Heat 2.0.
00:07:44.100 And after a separate seven-week enforcement effort, FBI Birmingham announced more than 170
00:07:49.640 arrests and confiscated an additional 22 illegal firearms by the way democrats should be excited
00:07:56.120 about this because they're the ones that hate guns the most so you would think they'd be like
00:07:59.180 super pumped about this right no of course not they hate cash patel they hate donald trump
00:08:04.680 they hate law and order and so that's exactly why they're against this now patel also revealed
00:08:10.300 highlights from an fbi litterock sting resulting in the arrest of 39 people the seizure of 35
00:08:18.000 firearms, large quantities of fentanyl that could kill many Americans, as well as a lot of other
00:08:23.240 illegal drugs. You can go from Little Rock to Portland. The FBI saw a man sentenced to prison
00:08:28.460 for assaulting a federal officer during a violent attack at an immigration and customs enforcement
00:08:33.920 facility. That was, of course, you know, those protests that were paid for yet again by the
00:08:38.600 radical left. Patel also reminded agents that their work is saving children and multiple child
00:08:45.240 predators were sentenced convicted and charged as a result of investigations by the FBI in Tampa,
00:08:52.040 then in Boston, Kansas City, and Baltimore. Quote, as of yesterday, for example, one member of 764
00:09:01.740 was sentenced to 30 years in prison. He said, as always, we're going to keep getting after it and
00:09:07.720 I'll see you next week. Now, you look at that weekly update and that's the reason why I wanted
00:09:13.340 you to understand kind of how this works. This is not like a six month update. This isn't a year
00:09:19.540 into the year, like update. This is the weekly update. Next week's update will be completely
00:09:25.640 different with completely different information. I really, really, really, really, really want you
00:09:32.320 to think about that. Okay. You have a FBI that is working right now, by the way, exactly how it's
00:09:39.980 supposed to they're allowing the great men and women in uniform to do their jobs um it is something
00:09:47.600 that i think should make all of us proud and it's no longer using the fbi for political purposes
00:09:53.840 you may remember we found out the fbi was actually briefing and and you go back to politics here
00:10:00.500 they were briefing and sending letters to big tech uh for example twitter under the prior
00:10:07.680 administration on what they wanted to be censored and when you think about that they were out there
00:10:13.560 spending their time sending emails and finding things that were posted online by people like
00:10:18.880 mark and myself and saying hey we need you to censor this information there was question there
00:10:25.760 were things for example put online like about ivermectin for example and then what was the
00:10:31.300 government doing they were then connecting to facebook or meta to x and others and saying and
00:10:37.620 instagram say yeah you guys need to take this down like think about that that was what law
00:10:42.480 enforcement looked like under biden harris and under obama and then now look at it like we're
00:10:47.620 actually going after and taking people down that have committed real serious heinous crimes that
00:10:55.540 is something that should make all of us excited and it's again goes back to the promise that was
00:11:02.000 made by the president united states america we're going to go after those that we're going to go
00:11:06.620 after the bad guys like we're going to go after waste we're going after fraud we're going to have
00:11:10.060 to go after abuse we are going to go after these things and and that is exactly why we should be
00:11:18.760 so excited and proud of this. Next, story number two. Gavin Newsom investigation is something that
00:11:26.220 is insanely underreported on. So let me go to the Sacramento Bee, all right? And I'm just going to
00:11:33.620 read for you something that they had earlier today. The DOJ is investigating Gavin Newsom
00:11:38.220 and his wife. Here's what's to know. Federal investigators are digging into the finances
00:11:43.140 of California Governor Newsom and his wife, the first partner, Jennifer Newsom.
00:11:49.540 The governor calls it a, quote, political attack tied to his expected 2028 presidential run.
00:11:54.940 The Trump administration's Justice Department is probing the Newsom ties to nonprofits.
00:11:59.740 OK, this is what we're talking about a moment ago.
00:12:02.180 Taxes and business dealings going back years.
00:12:04.480 His wife has occupied a higher profile position compared to the spouse of other state leaders.
00:12:09.980 The filmmaker and gender equity advocate has helped shape her husband's policies on issues like reproductive health, the male loneliness and mental health crisis, school nutrition and regulating children's access to social media.
00:12:24.620 Here are the key takeaways.
00:12:26.620 Now, again, this is coming from the Sacramento Bee.
00:12:28.380 And again, this is one of the most underreported stories that if it was a Republican that was in this much trouble as a governor, it would be wall to wall coverage 24 seven.
00:12:37.080 The U.S. Department of Justice is investigating the First Lady of California's taxes and nonprofits connected to her and the governor
00:12:45.660 with several probes ongoing for about a year that originated from whistleblower complaints.
00:12:51.820 So that would be internal.
00:12:53.340 OK, this isn't some whistle.
00:12:55.020 This isn't some witch hunt.
00:12:56.200 This isn't some political, you know, OK, we're coming after you because you came after us or we want to retaliate against you type of scenario,
00:13:02.760 which is what Gavin Newsom, of course, said.
00:13:04.620 no no this is people in and around you internally whistleblowers that complained uh to the u.s
00:13:11.420 attorney's office in sacramento all right that's why i'm giving you this from the sacramento b
00:13:16.280 then number two on their list says the irs and fbi agents have approached staff friends and
00:13:22.260 associates of the newsoms in recent weeks and obtained their bank records that's significant
00:13:27.300 the governor's office said the probe intensified after todd blanch became acting head of the doj
00:13:33.100 One of the investigations is connected to Dana Williamson.
00:13:36.660 Now, this is the screaming, like, this is the fireworks going off moment, so you understand.
00:13:44.680 This is the oh-you-know-what moment if you are Gavin Newsom internally, okay?
00:13:50.380 One of the investigations is connected to Dana Williamson.
00:13:53.780 That is Newsom's former very close friend and former chief of staff.
00:13:59.800 Now, why is that significant?
00:14:01.200 Well, Dana has pled guilty to federal charges, okay?
00:14:05.700 She's pled guilty to fraud and lying to the FBI last month and faces up to 36 years in prison with the plea agreement.
00:14:14.360 Now, and go back to what I said earlier.
00:14:16.480 This isn't a witch hunt.
00:14:17.720 This is whistleblowers within the government whistleblowing and then seeing major problems
00:14:22.320 and then a Newsom's former chief of staff pleading guilty to federal charges on fraud and lying to the FBI
00:14:29.500 and is facing up to 38 years in prison.
00:14:32.600 That is what you refer to as someone rolling.
00:14:35.080 So this is someone who's trying to spend the rest of their life in jail.
00:14:39.160 They know a lot, obviously, about Gavin Newsom, his wife.
00:14:41.620 This former chief of staff and clearly is singing like a canary,
00:14:45.220 I think is a fair way of putting it. 1.00
00:14:47.060 Now, the first lady of California, Newsom, earned about $2.3 million 1.00
00:14:51.320 from the Representation Project nonprofit between 2011 and 2018. 0.98
00:14:56.980 That's a hell of a lot of money from a nonprofit, $2.3 million.
00:14:59.500 A 2021 Sacramento Bee investigation found more than 800,000 donations to the non-profit
00:15:05.360 from companies that directly lobbied the governor, meaning her husband.
00:15:09.960 You understand where we're going with this, all right?
00:15:12.400 So you've got companies that are directly lobbying the governor,
00:15:16.060 and all of a sudden, at the same time, you got more than 800,000 dollars in donations
00:15:20.420 to the non-profit from companies that needed to do business with
00:15:25.660 and were lobbying the governor, who happened to be her husband, all right?
00:15:29.500 That included PG&E, AT&T, and Kayser as well.
00:15:36.500 Now, just days before the DOJ probe became public, the state's Fair Political Practices Commission actually fined Gavin Newsom.
00:15:45.300 Now, this is probably the first time you're even hearing about this, okay?
00:15:48.140 So, you know, when there's, like, smoke, there's fire, that's saying, well, now we have fire, not just smoke, all right?
00:15:54.080 So just days before the DOJ probe became public, the state's Fair Political Practice Commission fined Gavin Newsom more than $31,000 for failing to report, you ready, $5.6 million in charitable donations on time, with most going to California Fire Foundation during the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires.
00:16:18.420 Newsom was late filing reports on so-called behested payments,
00:16:24.300 not once, not twice, not 10 times, not 25 times, but 34 times alone in 2025.
00:16:32.240 And the governor has previously been fined for failing to disclose $14 million in donations made between 2009 and 2024.
00:16:39.340 Now, in a video post on social media, Newsom called Trump the most, quote,
00:16:43.320 corrupt president in American history, blah, blah, blah, blah,
00:16:45.460 and said the White House is abusing the grand jury process to target him
00:16:48.840 because he's considering a 2028 presidential run.
00:16:51.620 No, none of this started under Trump.
00:16:53.920 This all started in the state by whistleblowers who came forward
00:16:59.580 and then you have a former chief of staff for Gavin Newsom
00:17:03.700 who has taken a plea deal begging to not spend the rest of their life in prison.
00:17:09.380 I'm going to tell you right now,
00:17:11.040 when you have whistleblowers that are doing what they're doing in California,
00:17:14.240 you know it's bad.
00:17:15.080 And when you have whistleblowers in California that are who then get to a point with data that's actually putting the chief of staff of Gavin Newsom in prison and then him and then that person taking a deal.
00:17:29.080 And then, of course, the pushback is, well, you just need to understand.
00:17:33.180 Right. You just you need to understand that this is all witch hunt.
00:17:37.620 That's what Gavin Newsom said his press conference. 0.97
00:17:39.520 It's all Donald Trump being evil. 0.98
00:17:40.960 Donald Trump's a bad guy. 1.00
00:17:42.000 Donald Trump is terrible. 1.00
00:17:42.900 Donald Trump is the worst person in the world. 1.00
00:17:45.080 then this is all because I'm going to win the presidency. 0.99
00:17:47.100 Okay, buddy, sure, whatever you say.
00:17:49.280 I'm going to tell you right now,
00:17:51.240 there is a very good chance that Gavin Newsom will not be running for president.
00:17:54.840 There's a very good chance that Gavin Newsom is going to be fighting for his life
00:17:57.760 to not be in prison based on what we are witnessing right now.
