00:00:00.000 This is an iHeart Podcast.
00:00:02.700 Guaranteed human.
00:00:05.860 If we weren't there, if we didn't bring in the National Guard and the Marines,
00:00:10.200 you would probably have a city that was burning to the ground,
00:00:13.680 just like it was a number of months ago with the housing.
00:00:16.340 You would have had a big problem there.
00:00:18.100 We weren't, in fact, the police chief said so much.
00:00:20.580 If you look at what his statements were, he said,
00:00:22.340 we're very lucky to have had that.
00:00:23.740 If we weren't there, that city would have been burning to the ground.
00:00:26.280 We'd be burning right now.
00:00:27.440 You're listening to the 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.
00:00:31.980 Good Thursday morning.
00:00:33.120 It is the 47 Morning Update.
00:00:35.000 It's so nice to have you with us.
00:00:36.520 And we've got two big stories for you.
00:00:39.180 Donald Trump speaking out when asked about
00:00:42.240 will he be pulling back the military presence in L.A.
00:00:46.120 This after he has said he will send wherever he needs to,
00:00:50.720 the National Guard to protect American cities.
00:00:53.620 We also have a very big report as well on where the money's coming from.
00:00:59.360 And an official investigation has been launched in Congress by Senator Josh Hawley.
00:01:04.880 We'll give you the details of the organizations.
00:01:07.740 And the scary part is some of your tax dollars were going to some of these groups.
00:01:13.340 It's the 47 Morning Update, and it starts right now.
00:01:16.980 Story number one.
00:01:18.040 Senator Josh Hawley has not only launched an investigation to who's funding the L.A. riots,
00:01:23.720 but we're getting breaking news right now that the list has expanded from what happened earlier in the day.
00:01:32.720 Senator Josh Hawley, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Counterterrorism,
00:01:37.900 launching this new investigation into who is funding the Los Angeles riots
00:01:42.520 and other riots that are now breaking out around the country.
00:01:46.880 Now, what we knew earlier was this.
00:01:49.620 There was a target, the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles.
00:01:54.720 It's a non-profit pro-immigration group.
00:01:58.420 The allegation was very clear.
00:02:00.540 They may have provided logistical support and financial resources to individuals involved in the protests
00:02:06.680 and escalated into riots, obviously on purpose.
00:02:10.340 Now, the formal request he sent to this group and the executive director
00:02:14.840 demanded the preservation and the production of financial documents and donor lists,
00:02:20.100 travel and coordination records,
00:02:22.080 and documents related to protest planning from November the 5th of 2024 to the present.
00:02:28.760 Well, here is now what has happened since that first letter.
00:02:32.960 Hawley's office has now come out saying we are launching an investigation to other groups as well,
00:02:38.860 not just the original one named.
00:02:41.660 Who else is being added?
00:02:43.220 Well, the Party for Socialism and Liberation out of San Francisco, California.
00:02:48.980 The letter reads this way.
00:02:50.280 To whom it may concern,
00:02:51.860 I write in my capacity as the chair of the Senate Subcommittee on Crime and Counterterrorism
00:02:56.540 regarding your organization's alleged role in financing and material support,
00:03:02.160 coordinated protests and riots that have engulfed Los Angeles in recent weeks,
00:03:07.480 while peaceful protests is a cornerstone of American democracy.
00:03:11.760 These demonstrations have escalated into lawless mob actions.
00:03:15.840 They have obstructed federal law enforcement,
00:03:18.340 endangered public safety,
00:03:20.080 and disrupted the rule of law.
00:03:21.800 This lawlessness is unacceptable and it must end.
00:03:25.400 He also stated this.
00:03:26.960 Credible reporting now suggests that your organization,
00:03:30.440 the Party for Socialism and Liberation,
00:03:32.660 has provided logistical support and financial resources to individuals
00:03:37.560 that are engaged in these disruptive actions.
00:03:40.900 Let me be clear.
00:03:42.400 Bankrolling civil unrest is not protected speech.
00:03:45.660 It is aiding and abetting criminal conduct.
00:03:48.280 Accordingly,
00:03:48.940 you must immediately cease and desist any further involvement in these organizations
00:03:52.980 in the organization funding or promotion of these unlawful activities.
00:03:59.300 Now, there's a long list of things that Hawley is asking for,
00:04:03.900 including all internal communications,
00:04:06.320 including emails, text messages, chat logs, messaging apps,
00:04:10.840 related to the protests, related to the planning, the coordination, or funding.
00:04:15.300 He is also demanding that all financial documents related to the protests,
00:04:18.980 the demonstrations, or mobilization efforts in L.A.
00:04:21.560 are elsewhere in the country relating to immigration enforcement.
00:04:25.140 He also said if there are any third-party contacts or vendor agreements,
00:04:29.540 including any arrangements with event organizers,
00:04:33.320 transportation providers, security personnel,
00:04:36.940 or communications consultants relating to immigration enforcement,
00:04:41.760 or the Los Angeles protests or similar protests elsewhere.
00:04:45.960 He also asked for grant applications and funding proposals that relate to
00:04:50.260 or reference immigration enforcement,
00:04:52.860 as well as travel and lodging records for individuals or groups supported
00:04:58.600 or reimbursed in connection with protest activities.
00:05:02.280 He also said we must have media or public relations strategies,
00:05:05.760 including your talking points, press releases,
00:05:08.260 and coordination with journalists or influencers related to immigration protests.
00:05:13.280 And finally, the big one yet again, the donor list.
00:05:16.960 Josh Hawley, the chairman of the subcommittee on crime and counterterrorism in the U.S. Senate,
00:05:21.280 said failure to comply will result in additional actions by the subcommittee,
00:05:26.000 including potential referral for criminal investigations.
00:05:29.720 So that letter has now gone out to the party for socialism and liberation.
00:05:35.200 Well, Josh Hawley isn't done there.
00:05:37.480 He has now also sent a letter to Ron Góchez,
00:05:41.140 spokesman for the Union Day del Barrio,
00:05:43.700 demanding the exact same things that they demanded for the party for socialism and liberation,
00:05:49.160 as well as the earlier letter in the day that went to the original group asking,
00:05:54.880 what do you know, when did you know it, and how long have you been funding it
00:05:58.600 with the Coalition for, quote, humane immigrant rights.
00:06:03.020 So that now brings me to Josh Hawley and what he had to say tonight on Fox News Channel
00:06:07.860 when speaking with Jesse Waters.
00:06:09.680 Take a listen.
00:06:10.480 Senator Josh Hawley joins us now.
00:06:12.080 Senator Tulsi Gabbard just said that these riots in L.A.
00:06:16.040 and all over the country are orchestrated.
00:06:18.140 Can you tell us anything about that?
00:06:19.740 Yeah, I think that's absolutely right, Jesse.
00:06:21.460 These aren't spontaneous at all.
00:06:23.140 They're about as authentic as AstroTurf.
00:06:25.420 They are bought and paid for flash mobs.
00:06:28.160 And I want to know who's doing the buying and the paying.
00:06:30.380 That's why today I've launched an investigation.
00:06:32.260 I've sent multiple investigative demands today to various groups out on social media
00:06:37.560 claiming they are paying for this, they are organizing it, they are financing it.
00:06:42.360 We've all seen the videos of vans driving up, handing out gas masks right before somebody
00:06:46.820 blows up a car.
00:06:47.940 It's time we found out where's the money coming from, who's really behind this.
00:06:51.860 I think the American people deserve answers.
00:06:53.960 Senator Hawley wasn't done there.
00:06:55.900 He also talked about these rioters, and he made it very clear that these rioters know who
00:07:00.300 their ally is.
00:07:01.400 It's the Democratic Party.
00:07:03.440 When they're saying, don't believe what you see on TV, and there's no violence at all,
00:07:09.380 doesn't that kind of remind you of the Biden cover-up?
00:07:11.780 Oh, 100%.
00:07:12.500 It's the same thing. 0.99
00:07:13.500 Don't believe your lying eyes.
00:07:14.820 Meanwhile, they're out there blowing up cars on the 101. 0.96
00:07:17.640 They're assaulting cops. 0.60
00:07:19.000 They're rushing federal buildings.
00:07:20.640 They're burning down shops.
00:07:22.060 It's all on television, and we can see it with our own eyes.
00:07:25.060 I'm just glad Trump isn't letting the city burn.
00:07:27.700 I mean, Gavin Newsom would allow his state to burn for the second time in a year, and
00:07:31.860 the worst part is somebody is paying for all of this, and they're trying to spread it,
00:07:36.380 Jesse, just like you reported.
00:07:37.700 They're trying to spread it across the country, to Chicago, to St. Louis, to Seattle, New York,
00:07:42.120 everywhere.
00:07:42.640 We've got to figure out who is behind this.
00:07:45.760 And by the way, why is the Democrat Party now basically an extended mental ward?
00:07:49.880 I mean, what has happened to these people? 1.00
00:07:51.600 They're nuts. 1.00
00:07:52.600 They're nuts. 1.00
00:07:53.280 He's right. 1.00
00:07:53.800 But it's also the reality of what they're doing, what they're advocating for.
00:07:57.700 And the flag that they're flying, you know, the Mexican flag.
00:08:02.080 You know, you notice that CNN never even interviews anybody at the riot.
00:08:06.380 We have clips of them, and you can see why CNN doesn't want to talk to them, because they 0.84
00:08:10.640 look insane.
00:08:11.700 Your colleagues in the Senate, do they support these people?
00:08:15.080 Do they think this is good politically for the Democrat Party?
00:08:19.220 Well, that's what they're acting like.
00:08:20.600 I mean, they're out there saying all peaceful protests.
00:08:22.840 It's all peaceful.
00:08:23.380 By the way, this is Donald Trump's fault.
00:08:25.100 I'm like, really?
00:08:25.620 Donald Trump's fault?
00:08:26.360 Gee, I missed it when Donald Trump went and blew up a car on Highway 101.
00:08:30.200 I didn't see him when he was assaulting cops. 0.98
00:08:32.780 What I saw was a bunch of lunatics who were waving the Mexican flag and other flags while 0.96
00:08:37.280 they burned our own. 0.94
00:08:38.560 And by the way, Jesse, we ought to penalize people who burn the American flag while they're
00:08:43.000 committing a crime.
00:08:43.760 If you do that, you ought to have your prison sentence doubled.
00:08:46.860 It's time to get serious with these people.
00:08:48.900 It's a law and order time in America.
00:08:51.000 No more of this nonsense.
00:08:52.080 So it's like an extra, what, two years if you burn a flag in the commission of a felony?
00:08:59.680 Absolutely.
00:09:00.220 That's what I would do.
00:09:01.060 If you want to go burn a flag while you're up there rioting, while you're assaulting cops,
00:09:05.000 while you're blowing up cars, yeah, fine.
00:09:06.680 Go right ahead.
00:09:07.540 Spend double the amount of time in prison.
00:09:09.320 That flag means something to Americans.
00:09:11.700 If you think that you can just burn it and get away with it, it's time that we disabuse them
00:09:15.540 of that notion.
00:09:16.100 The other thing I'd say, Jesse, is if these protesters want to have a place to protest,
00:09:20.280 how about a nice jail cell?
00:09:22.360 And right after that, how about a one-way ticket back to the country where they came from, 0.99
00:09:26.600 never to see the United States again?
00:09:28.760 One thing that's for sure, Senator Josh Hawley is making it clear that under Donald Trump's
00:09:33.620 leadership and his leadership in the Senate, we're going to find out who's funding, who's
00:09:38.300 organizing, and who's terrorizing the American people with these riots that are expanding
00:09:43.800 all over the country.
00:09:45.280 Now, story number two.
00:09:46.660 President Trump not backing down and protecting L.A. and any other city where these radical
00:09:52.620 extremists are starting these riots.
00:09:55.380 At Fort Bragg, Donald Trump addressed U.S. troops and vowed to liberate Los Angeles, blasting
00:10:01.080 the situation as third world lawlessness and accusing rioters of bearing foreign flags.
00:10:07.920 He also defended the deployment of approximately 4,000 National Guard troops and 700 Marines, citing
00:10:14.400 their role in protecting ICE agents and federal buildings.
00:10:17.740 Now, Trump also called the protesters animals, a foreign enemy, and paid troublemakers, which
00:10:24.700 will have more on that story of where the money's coming from for all of these protests, asserting
00:10:30.940 that somebody's paying them.
00:10:32.620 Now, Trump has framed the unrest as part of a broader threat, describing it as a full-blown
00:10:50.880 assault on peace, on public order, and national sovereignty. 0.98
00:10:55.180 He directly challenged California leaders, calling Governor Gavin Newsom, new scum, and saying 0.99
00:11:02.160 they are afraid to act. 0.97
00:11:04.300 Trump also insists his forceful response demonstrates decisive leadership and exactly what the American
00:11:10.820 people voted for.
00:11:11.820 Well, the president was also at the Kennedy Center, walking the red carpet with his wife,
00:11:18.340 the First Lady, and he was asked about some of these decisions.
00:11:22.380 Take a listen.
00:11:23.460 Will you be pulling back on the military?
00:11:26.120 Will you be pulling back on the military presence in Los Angeles and in California soon?
00:11:31.140 What's the barometer you're using?
00:11:32.400 If we weren't there, if we didn't bring in the National Guard and the Marines, you would
00:11:39.440 probably have a city that was burning to the ground, just like it was a number of months
00:11:44.400 ago with the housing.
00:11:45.760 You would have had a big problem there.
00:11:47.780 We weren't.
00:11:48.260 In fact, the police chief said so much.
00:11:50.920 If you look at what his statements were, he said, we're very lucky to have had them.
00:11:54.540 If we weren't there, that city would have been burning to the ground, would be burning right
00:11:57.960 now.
00:11:58.280 Mr. President, I'm just trying to do another summer of unrest.
00:12:03.160 What are you prepared to do, sir?
00:12:05.020 About what?
00:12:05.800 If this turns, well, the protests have spread now to 16 cities across the U.S.
00:12:10.120 Well, I don't know.
00:12:10.820 That's what you're saying.
00:12:11.780 Do I believe you?
00:12:12.600 I don't think so.
00:12:13.420 Well, I got that from the cops.
00:12:14.360 I can tell you that what we have, what we have is a situation in Los Angeles that was
00:12:19.180 caused by gross incompetence.
00:12:21.360 They didn't have the police to handle it.
00:12:23.000 The police were asking us to come in.
00:12:25.300 They were very late.
00:12:26.040 We had to go in to save a lot of ISIS officers, as you know, who were held up.
00:12:30.460 They were holed up in a building and they were being attacked.
00:12:34.420 And the military went in.
00:12:35.600 The National Guard went in and got them.
00:12:37.300 The police weren't able, unfortunately, to move fast enough.
00:12:40.440 But we moved fast enough.
00:12:41.520 And while we were there, we stayed there and we stopped tremendous destruction and death.
00:12:47.980 We stopped death.
00:12:49.220 We stopped a lot.
00:12:50.560 And if you look at them cutting up and breaking up the sidewalk and getting it and using it
00:12:54.520 as a weapon.
00:12:55.160 Did you see that with the curb where they're breaking up the curb?
00:12:58.620 Nice curb.
00:12:59.740 And they break it up with a hammer because they couldn't get the bricks in.
00:13:02.580 You know, they got caught with the bricks.
00:13:04.020 We have them under arrest.
00:13:05.200 They were bringing bricks in to throw at our police.
00:13:08.880 Bringing in bricks to throw at our police.
00:13:12.120 Who paid for the bricks is the big question now that everyone is asking.
00:13:15.720 But the president is also calling on leaders, governors, to take the lead, take a stand and
00:13:22.880 stop the anarchy.
00:13:24.420 And guess what?
00:13:25.300 Many conservative governors are doing exactly that.
00:13:28.420 The governor of Texas, for example, Greg Abbott, has proactively deployed the National Guard
00:13:34.220 to San Antonio ahead of planned anti-ice demonstrations.
00:13:39.220 Gavin Newsom, that's how it's done.
00:13:42.040 Texas, the governor said, will not be under siege like California.
00:13:47.180 And that's exactly the type of leadership that so many Americans are looking for.
