00:03:26.880 People are saying, is it a UFO?

00:03:29.340 Is it foreign governments spying on us?

00:03:32.880 There's a bigger conversation that I think we need to have.

00:03:36.860 And that is, I am genuinely worried now that there are so many Americans that have no trust in the U.S. government.

00:03:44.740 They have no trust in our agencies like the FBI or the CIA or the Department of Homeland Security because they've been lied to, whether it's on COVID or whether it's on us having a secure border, like Mayorkas said over and over again,

00:03:57.180 or lying to us about saying terrorists are not coming across the southern border when there's people on the terrorist watch list.

00:04:03.140 And so now with this drone thing, there's genuine concern and paranoia that when the government comes out and says, hey, everything's okay, everybody says, why would I believe you?

00:04:12.320 Look, that's a fair question.

00:04:16.180 And I'm going to start with I've been in the U.S. Senate 12 years.

00:04:21.440 I have the top-level classified clearance.

00:04:24.380 I have classified briefings regularly.

00:04:27.340 And I'm here to tell you I have no frigging idea what's up in the sky.

00:04:31.480 It actually is frustrating as all get out.

00:04:34.820 So I'm going to walk you through some of the data points.

00:04:36.740 I'm going to walk you through what I've been told and where the American people are.

00:04:40.900 First of all, we're getting reports all up and down the eastern seaboard about people seeing strange things in the sky.

00:04:47.480 For example, Governor Larry Hogan, former governor of Maryland, he tweeted out the following, quote,

00:04:52.840 Last night, beginning at around 9.45 p.m., I personally witnessed and videoed what appeared to be dozens of large drones in the sky above my residence in Davidsonville, Maryland, 25 miles from our nation's capital.

00:05:06.180 I observed the activity for approximately 45 minutes.

00:05:10.680 Like many who have observed these drones, I do not know if the increasing activity over our skies is a threat to public safety or national security.

00:05:18.620 But the public is growing increasingly concerned and frustrated with a complete lack of transparency and the dismissive attitude of the federal government.

00:05:26.460 The government has the ability to track these from their point of origin, but has mounted a negligent response.

00:05:33.560 People are rightfully clamoring for answers, but aren't getting any.

00:05:37.740 We're being told that neither the White House, the military, the FBI or Homeland Security have any idea what they are, where they're coming from or who has launched or is controlling them and that they pose no threat.

00:05:51.620 That response is entirely unacceptable.

00:05:55.360 I join with a growing bipartisan chorus of leaders demanding that the federal government immediately address this issue.

00:06:01.660 The American people deserve answers and action now.

00:06:07.000 So that's one data point.

00:06:09.280 Look, Larry Hogan is is a serious and credible observer.

00:06:13.400 He's reporting what he's seen.

00:06:15.440 Now, now here's another another tweet.

00:06:17.540 This is from Congressman Tom Keen in New Jersey, quote, we here in New Jersey are at our wits end with the complete absence of answers on drone activity over our neighborhoods.

00:06:29.900 The federal government should either explain if these are our government's assets and practice or if these are truly unknown flights, responsibly remove one from the sky for examination.

00:06:42.400 Either option would lead us to an answer.

00:06:47.100 And the public is rightfully demanding closure here.

00:06:51.100 Nothing about what is occurring is acceptable.

00:06:54.660 Governor Murphy and President Biden need to step up right now.

00:06:59.380 So that's two data points.

00:07:02.180 Now, I got to say, I asked my staff, I'm the incoming chair of the Senate Commerce Committee, the Senate Commerce Committee, among other things, has jurisdiction or the FAA.

00:07:10.040 I asked my team, find out from the FAA what the hell these are.

00:07:14.700 Staff had a briefing with the FAA and the FBI and other agencies.

00:07:19.600 And and what we were told is there's no evidence that they're drones.

00:07:24.540 But they have been able to verify that what people see are manned aviation because there are flight plans.

00:07:31.860 And I've heard different people say one one staffer is speculated, quote, the ones in New Jersey are airplanes.

00:07:40.840 The ones that Hogan saw are stars.

00:07:42.920 The reason they all look small is because is is not because they're drones, but because they're far away.

00:07:48.700 Now, I don't have any friggin clue.

00:07:51.160 So I don't know what the truth is or what the falsity is. 0.73

00:07:55.740 And listen, at the end of the day in the Senate, I don't have control of satellites.

00:08:04.660 But why is the federal government not directly answering this?

00:08:18.820 Now, as much as I'd love to make a headline by saying I can guarantee you I can prove to you right now it is space aliens above New Jersey.

00:08:30.180 Now, I can't tell you it's not space aliens above New Jersey.

00:08:37.120 But the question you asked at the outset, Ben, I think is is really very interesting. 0.83

00:08:49.100 Because the government, especially with the Biden administration, has demonstrated they're willing to lie over and over and over again.

00:09:03.900 And they didn't shoot it down until after it had completed what you would describe as a mission.

00:09:08.040 And remember, look, the first government spy balloon we knew about, people up in Montana spotted it and said, hey, what the hell is that thing in the sky?

00:09:17.900 And then the Biden administration reluctantly said, oh, yeah, this is spy balloons from China.

00:09:23.160 And, by the way, we've had a bunch of them before.

00:09:26.600 We knew about them.

00:09:27.800 We didn't do anything about them.

00:09:44.200 It is being maneuvered to fly directly over military bases to engage in surveillance.

00:09:50.180 The Biden administration decided to let that Chinese spy balloon fly over the entire continental United States from Alaska all the way across the country.

00:09:58.340 They finally shot it down over the Atlantic Ocean.

00:10:01.100 So all of us experience that when strange things were flying in the sky and the Biden administration knew what they were, they refused to tell us.

00:10:12.560 So so I don't think people are being unreasonable when you're getting lots of reports of people looking up, seeing strange things in the sky, figuring, you know what?

00:10:21.700 The Biden administration knows what these are and they're not telling us.

00:10:25.580 I've heard people speculate it's the military, it's experiments.

00:10:29.080 I have no idea, but I'm frustrated that when I ask, I don't get an answer.

00:10:35.940 And I do think this is a responsible thing to say.

00:10:39.660 Ordinary citizens should not shoot them down if they are, in fact, manned aircraft.

00:10:44.920 We don't want someone in a helicopter copter getting shot down.

00:10:47.900 So don't shoot at the thing flying above you if you see something flying above you because you don't want to you don't want to kill someone.

00:10:54.400 You don't want to knock it down and have it crash down and injure or kill your neighbor.

00:10:59.540 But but I will say that there is a real need for for transparency.

00:11:05.520 And and it says an enormous amount that that the level of distrust is so deep.

00:11:12.460 And it's because we've seen this administration lie to the American people over and over and over again and expect them to believe the lies.

00:11:20.980 Here's another question.

00:11:24.080 And you mentioned classified briefings.

00:11:26.340 So if you'll explain kind of how this works, because there was a briefing to the media today and the briefing was with a statement that came out from the U.S.

00:11:36.500 government. It was kind of like a kumbaya universal statement from a lot of agencies under the Biden administration that this is not a threat from some adversary around the world.

00:11:45.900 Everybody calmed down. And then there were some House members that got a classified briefing.

00:11:52.260 And immediately the question was asked by them by the media is, well, if there's no threat here, why was it a classified briefing?

00:12:01.080 If you're saying that this isn't us and it's not an adversary.

00:12:04.700 So is that a bunch to do about nothing or explain your thoughts on that and why it would have been done in a classified setting possibly?

00:12:13.100 Well, listen, and we've talked about this on verdict previously.

00:12:16.940 Some time ago, there was a classified briefing on potential UFO sightings.

00:12:21.760 And I was really interested. I'm like, hey, I want to know this.

00:12:24.520 I went down and I read the folder.

00:12:27.340 I got to tell you, Ben, it was the most underwhelming thing I've ever seen.

00:12:31.520 Like like if I wanted to reveal a classified secret about it, I couldn't because the whole thing said some people saw some stuff.

00:12:38.580 They didn't know what it was like.

00:12:39.800 That's it. Like it was a bunch of pages of, I don't know, some people said, look, look, look up in the sky.

00:12:46.080 It's a bird. It's a plane. It's a dog.

00:12:49.680 That, by the way, for people old enough to remember is the opening of Underdog, which which were you old enough to watch Underdog as a kid, Ben?

00:13:07.340 So they're looking up in the sky.

00:13:09.140 They go, it's a bird. It's a plane.

00:13:11.020 It's a frog, a frog, not bird, nor plane, nor even frog, just little old me underdog.

00:13:18.260 And it was the opening of a dog that would fly through the air like Superman.

00:13:22.280 That that's what when I was a little kid, the cartoon I watched.

00:13:25.440 But to be honest, the classified briefing did not tell you anything more than the opening cartoon from Underdog.

00:13:33.900 So why do they do classified briefings that don't say anything?

00:13:39.480 I don't know. Often the administration does it.

00:13:43.380 I think it is in part a sense that they don't owe the American public leveling with them.

00:13:49.800 I see all the time.

00:13:51.240 This is something actually both Republican and Democrat administrations do.

00:13:54.840 But the Biden administration is particularly bad about it.

00:13:57.560 They'll classify a briefing just because they don't want to talk about a topic or because they think it's politically embarrassing,

00:14:03.200 not because, look, things are proper properly classified.

00:14:06.820 If it so happened that it was a spy satellite from from the American government, you would want to classify that.

00:14:15.280 We don't we're not in the business of telling people about our spy satellites since I have I have not attended a classified briefing on the drones.

00:14:24.020 People have speculated that, but I have no information one way or the other.

00:14:28.420 What I would just say is at this point, so many people have reported seeing this, including credible, serious people that I think the federal government owes the the American people just some level of leveling.

00:14:52.980 And the fact that that that the people are basically told what you're worried about doesn't count.

00:15:11.820 So if they won't tell me that they don't view it, that they owe anything to Congress, they don't view it, that they owe anything to the American people.

00:15:19.220 And no wonder so many Americans fundamentally distrust our government when you don't have the government leveling with you and just telling you the basic facts.

00:15:29.180 And by the way, just saying it's nothing to worry about.

00:15:32.760 Well, that's not comforting.

00:15:33.940 They said the same thing with the Chinese spy balloon, which they never would have told us about.

00:15:38.500 If it were not for people who spotted it with with telescopes and binoculars.

00:15:43.800 And to be clear, by the way, they finally admitted there had been multiple Chinese sky balloons before that.

00:15:49.580 They never told Congress that they never told me that not once until the public spotted it.

00:15:54.860 And so when you have a long pattern of lack of candor with with the American people, it's unsurprising.

00:16:02.020 The American people are deeply distrustful.

00:16:05.160 And that's that's not a healthy thing.

00:16:06.600 No. And let's talk about two other aspects of this.

00:16:09.920 And it deals with national security.

00:16:11.800 You and I several months ago talked about the number of drone incursions that were happening at the southern border and how the cartels down there are using an incredible number of drones to basically spy on U.S.

00:16:26.340 Whether it was tens of thousands.

00:16:28.080 Tens of thousands.

00:16:29.020 Right. There was like 30,000 incursions in this certain time period that we talked about.

00:16:33.340 If my memory is correct.

00:16:35.020 And yet they're using them for intelligence to see where we're moving and how we're trying to protect our border to human smuggle, sex trafficking, fentanyl, drugs, all of it.

00:16:48.140 Put it all together.

00:16:49.340 And that's it.

00:16:50.420 Then we have a second now aspect of drones.

00:16:53.760 And it's what we're witnessing in the Middle East.

00:16:56.120 We are seeing drones that are being used to attack in the Middle East.

00:16:59.600 We've seen drones that have been used in the war between Russia and Ukraine at a level that I think five, ten years ago no one could have imagined.

00:17:07.420 And then we had a drone expert on TV who was asked a couple different things.

00:17:12.520 One, about shooting down drones.

00:17:14.540 But two, does our government have what it takes to take out hardened drones?

00:17:20.660 Drones that may actually be used by adversaries, whether it's terrorists or other countries.

00:17:26.640 And Scott Jenning asked him the question about, hey, like, if you've got a drone over your house, can you shoot this thing down?

00:17:32.620 And here's what he had to say.

00:18:16.760 The way that we test that is in special facilities.

00:18:23.740 The common method for drones to be taken out of the sky via law enforcement and agencies

00:18:28.480 is with electromagnetic weapons, like jammers and spoofers and microwaves.

00:18:33.700 And that, I think, is a really scary undertone to this whole drone mystery, is that we lack

00:18:37.700 the kinetic responses necessary with our law enforcement and federal agencies, although

00:18:41.920 the DOD does maintain that.

00:18:43.140 You said drones that are hardened, meaning that they are made to not be taken out of the

00:18:47.180 site.

00:18:47.220 Right, yeah, and it's a very simple thing to do.

00:18:48.980 Like microwaves, to harden a drone from microwaves, right, is a copper tape.

00:18:52.840 A drone that size, could you put a weapon on that?

00:18:55.960 You could put, you could carry a couple pounds, a weapon, being explosives, absolutely.

00:19:24.100 And then this drone expert is saying, quote, we lack the kinetic response from law enforcement

00:19:28.600 to combat hardened drones that could be used against anyone anywhere in the country.

00:19:35.080 Yeah, look, I've been down on the southern border where border patrol on boats on the Rio

00:19:39.640 Grand River that they will use guns to take down drones from the cartels, but an ordinary

00:19:48.160 citizen can't do that. 0.96

00:19:49.520 And the problem is you maybe can do that with one or two, but you can't do that with 1,000.

00:19:54.200 You can't do that with 5,000 or 10,000 or 20,000 or 30,000.

00:19:58.360 And I will say that that's one of the dangers of the directions warfare is going is that we're

00:20:03.220 seeing more and more synchronized drones being used in warfare, drones being used for surveillance,

00:20:09.160 and the danger of hardened or weaponized drones is real and significant.

00:20:14.200 Now, let me be clear.

00:20:14.900 I want to reiterate.

00:20:16.220 I have no evidence that these are drones that are over the eastern seaboard, but the Biden

00:20:24.220 administration is doing nothing to assuage people's fears.

00:20:28.100 They're not leveling with the American people.

00:20:30.780 They're telling them just, hey, don't worry about it.

00:20:34.100 And based on their past pattern of lying, that does not inspire confidence.

00:21:20.380 But he said federal authorities are now investigating 100 tips on drone activity.

00:21:31.460 Well, I would repeat what we've said yesterday and last night in a multiple agency statement.

00:21:37.260 That we have taken a serious look at this.

00:21:40.480 We have gone through 5,000 some odd sightings.

00:21:43.280 We have added detection capabilities to the region.

00:21:45.600 We've even sent up visual observers.

00:21:49.560 And everything we're seeing to date, our assessment tells us, that these are commercial drones,

00:21:55.400 hobbyist drones, or law enforcement drones, all operating legally and lawfully.

00:22:00.740 Nothing to worry about.

00:22:02.900 I just think this goes back to that issue we talked about at the very beginning to bring it back full circle.

00:22:09.680 Even if he is saying spot on, it's true, when there's so many unanswered questions.

00:22:14.640 And by the way, that's completely different from what the FAA and the FBI briefed my staff,

00:22:19.960 where they said they were manned aircraft.

00:22:21.520 So now John Kirby is standing up saying they're drones.

00:22:24.740 Like, what is, when you have multiple and conflicting answers, people naturally distrust them.

00:22:31.280 And it's why you get lots and lots of conspiracy theories.

00:22:35.180 But part of the problem with conspiracy theories is everything we're told is a conspiracy six months later proves true.

00:22:42.040 Speaking of conspiracy theories, it's six months ago they said we're not real,

00:22:46.080 or five months, or four months, or three months, or even two months ago.

00:24:28.600 But here's what Fox reported, quote, police in Aurora, Colorado say the overnight armed home

00:24:47.220 on Tuesday, police were called to the edge at Lowry Apartments for a reported armed home

00:24:53.440 invasion in which the victims were kidnapped and assaulted, the Aurora police said.

00:25:05.260 to 15 people, mostly males with some females, entered an apartment where two people were

00:25:12.360 Police say the suspects took the migrant victims to another apartment at the same location

00:25:16.880 where the victims were threatened and bound.

00:25:20.940 One of the victims, a man sustained a stab wound but is expected to survive, police said.

00:25:26.640 Both of the victims are still at the hospital for treatment for their injuries.

00:25:29.980 At some point, authorities said, the suspects released the victims who then called 911.

00:25:37.140 Quote, they were pistol whipped, they were beat, they were mistreated, Chamberlain said.

00:29:25.300 So Emerson College put out a poll, and they polled people's attitudes towards the health

00:29:33.260 Here's what they concluded, quote, a majority of voters, 68%, think the actions of the killer

00:29:40.460 of the United Health Care CEO, Brian Thompson, are unacceptable.

00:29:45.220 So I want you to pause and think about that.

00:29:47.080 Only 68% of Americans think it is unacceptable to murder someone in cold blood.

00:29:53.740 17% find the actions acceptable, murdering someone in cold blood, mind you, while 16% are

00:30:04.600 Now, if you break it down a little more, here's what Emerson College continues, quote, while

00:30:11.980 68% of voters overall reject the killer's actions, younger voters and Democrats are more split.

00:30:21.040 41% of voters aged 18 to 29 find the killer's actions acceptable, while 40% find them unacceptable.

00:30:33.540 So according to Emerson College polls, more young people, age 18 to 29, find the cold-blooded

00:30:40.360 murder of this CEO acceptable than find it unacceptable.

00:30:44.000 And it's 41% to 40.

00:30:46.200 If you break down that 41%, 24% say it is somewhat acceptable, and 17% say it is completely acceptable. 0.99
