00:00:00.000 This is an iHeart Podcast.
00:00:02.540 Guaranteed human.
00:00:05.180 Welcome, it is Verdict with Ted Cruz.
00:00:07.260 Weekend Review, Ben Ferguson with you.
00:00:09.200 And these are the stories that you may have missed
00:00:11.460 that we talked about this week.
00:00:13.420 And was it a crazy week in the world of politics?
00:00:17.920 First up, let's go back in history.
00:00:20.380 When the Democrats in Congress demanded
00:00:23.600 that the Secret Service protection be stripped
00:00:26.080 of Donald Trump when he became a felon.
00:00:30.160 Is there gonna be repercussions for those requests
00:00:32.940 in light of what happened with the assassination attempt?
00:00:36.280 Also, there are so many questions
00:00:38.320 on the assassination attempt.
00:00:40.600 So is there gonna be a hearing?
00:00:42.560 The answer is yes.
00:00:43.700 And how is it gonna play out?
00:00:44.960 We'll explain that to you.
00:00:46.600 And finally, there is word that Joe Biden
00:00:49.140 may even drop out of the race.
00:00:51.140 And the Democratic Party is pushing to delay
00:00:53.680 the Democratic National Convention.
00:00:57.140 It's the Weekend Review.
00:00:58.320 And it starts right now.
00:01:01.040 Democrats actively called members of Congress
00:01:04.880 so that no one thinks it's a conspiracy theory
00:01:08.120 for Donald Trump to lose Secret Service protection
00:01:12.100 if he was convicted of a felony.
00:01:15.680 One of those was my former Congressman Steve Cohen.
00:01:18.240 He and several other people in Congress
00:01:22.260 said that they should pull Secret Service protection
00:01:25.680 of Donald Trump, which goes back to what you said
00:01:27.620 about it being political.
00:01:29.400 They didn't care if Donald Trump got killed.
00:01:32.080 In fact, they advocated for taking away the safety
00:01:34.300 that protects a president from being killed.
00:01:37.300 And those are members of Congress.
00:01:39.080 And it's amazing to me that virtually no,
00:01:43.160 not virtually, literally no one in the media
00:01:45.280 has brought that point up that just months ago
00:01:48.100 we had active Democrats in Congress,
00:01:50.880 not fringe people, okay?
00:01:53.340 These are elected officials who are demanding
00:01:56.440 that Donald Trump lose his Secret Service protection
00:01:58.540 if he was convicted of these, I'm sorry, hoax,
00:02:01.600 you know, crimes against him.
00:02:03.120 They tried to go after him for it to imprison him.
00:02:05.020 Well, and this was legislation that was filed
00:02:08.360 by Congressman Benny Thompson,
00:02:10.760 who is the top Democrat on the Homeland Security Committee.
00:02:14.460 So he's actually...
00:02:15.260 Can you just say that again
00:02:16.160 so you understand how important that job is
00:02:17.860 and then to understand that Homeland Security,
00:02:19.920 how much they have to do with the Secret Service?
00:02:21.400 So they are the Committee of Jurisdiction.
00:02:24.540 They have authority over the Department of Homeland Security.
00:02:28.720 And Benny Thompson is the senior Democrat.
00:02:30.840 He's called the ranking member.
00:02:32.200 And he filed the legislation.
00:02:33.940 He's the author of the legislation to say,
00:02:37.920 let's pull the Secret Service coverage
00:02:39.680 from Donald Trump entirely if he's convicted.
00:02:42.560 And by the way, it's a complete partisan conviction
00:02:44.500 that is designed to subvert democracy.
00:02:49.300 But let's be clear.
00:02:51.320 If you were to put any former president
00:02:53.840 into general population in a prison,
00:02:57.260 they would die.
00:02:58.580 Yes.
00:02:59.440 And so he's literally effectively calling for a death sentence.
00:03:03.280 And by the way,
00:03:04.780 Benny Thompson also had a staffer
00:03:06.820 who in the wake of this posted on X
00:03:10.940 saying that she wishes the shooter
00:03:13.880 had taken shooting lessons
00:03:15.640 and that he wouldn't miss next time.
00:03:18.100 Now, Benny Thompson fired that staffer.
00:03:20.260 He put out a statement,
00:03:21.480 I was made aware of a post made by a staff member,
00:03:24.300 and she is no longer in my employment.
00:03:26.480 But you know what?
00:03:27.520 Staff reflects the member.
00:03:29.160 Yep.
00:03:29.440 And it reflects the culture
00:03:30.920 that her first reaction is to be angry
00:03:34.660 that this would-be assassin
00:03:36.780 did not, in fact, kill Donald Trump.
00:03:39.460 That's what she wanted.
00:03:40.500 And from his legislation,
00:03:43.520 and it was joined by multiple other Democrats,
00:03:46.420 that legislation,
00:03:47.680 if it actually had become law,
00:03:49.660 and if Trump had gone to prison,
00:03:51.360 would have led directly to the death of Donald Trump.
00:03:54.040 And now they're suddenly saying,
00:03:55.700 oh, well, we're very dismayed
00:03:57.480 that there was any violence towards it.
00:03:59.660 Well, let's talk about the rewriting of history
00:04:01.280 and move also to the press conference Sunday night
00:04:04.400 that Joe Biden had.
00:04:06.100 He opened,
00:04:07.760 it wasn't a press conference,
00:04:08.540 it was more of a statement from the Oval Office,
00:04:10.000 I should say,
00:04:11.040 because there was no questions.
00:04:13.320 And what he said,
00:04:14.360 his address to the nation,
00:04:16.020 when he opened,
00:04:17.320 was certainly rewriting of history.
00:04:20.580 Here he is in his own words.
00:04:22.540 I want to speak to you tonight
00:04:23.740 about the need for us
00:04:24.960 to lower the temperature in our politics.
00:04:27.640 And to remember,
00:04:29.040 or we may disagree,
00:04:30.300 we are not enemies.
00:04:31.880 We're neighbors.
00:04:33.160 We're friends,
00:04:34.460 co-workers,
00:04:34.980 we're citizens.
00:04:36.000 And most importantly,
00:04:36.980 we're our fellow Americans.
00:04:39.220 Sounds great.
00:04:40.580 The problem is,
00:04:41.880 if you go and read
00:04:43.000 the president's own words,
00:04:45.720 in the days leading up to this moment,
00:04:48.340 that is not what he was saying at all.
00:04:50.740 He didn't say,
00:04:51.320 hey, I need to tone it down as well.
00:04:53.540 Joe Biden's own tweet was,
00:04:55.380 quote,
00:04:55.500 Donald Trump is the greatest threat
00:04:57.700 to our democracy.
00:04:59.880 He tweeted out again,
00:05:01.780 Donald Trump is a genuine threat
00:05:03.980 threat to this nation.
00:05:06.600 Another tweet,
00:05:08.220 he,
00:05:08.920 meaning Trump,
00:05:09.960 is a threat to our freedom.
00:05:12.060 He is a threat to our democracy.
00:05:15.580 He's literally,
00:05:17.200 this is Joe Biden's words,
00:05:18.940 on Twitter,
00:05:19.940 on X,
00:05:20.720 he's literally referring to Trump
00:05:22.820 a threat to everything
00:05:24.720 America stands for.
00:05:26.500 He also said,
00:05:28.320 Donald Trump is a threat
00:05:29.240 to our democracy
00:05:30.000 and we cannot let him win.
00:05:32.140 I'm in Madison,
00:05:33.120 Wisconsin,
00:05:34.020 talking to the folks about
00:05:35.260 what's at stake in this election.
00:05:37.140 We cannot let him win.
00:05:39.160 He also tweeted out,
00:05:40.460 Trump poses many threats
00:05:42.240 to our country.
00:05:43.660 The right to choose,
00:05:44.780 civil rights,
00:05:45.440 voting rights,
00:05:46.040 and Americans,
00:05:47.060 and America's city,
00:05:47.780 and the world.
00:05:48.520 But the greatest threat he poses
00:05:50.320 is to our democracy.
00:05:52.100 If we lose that,
00:05:53.140 we lose everything.
00:05:56.240 If I read those,
00:05:58.620 and I'm a crazy 20-year-old lunatic,
00:06:01.300 and you tell me,
00:06:02.720 as the President of the United States of America,
00:06:04.540 that Donald Trump,
00:06:05.400 and I'm quoting again,
00:06:06.200 is a threat to our democracy,
00:06:08.180 quote,
00:06:08.480 he's literally a threat
00:06:09.380 to everything America stands for,
00:06:11.720 well then it's not crazy
00:06:12.980 to think that that person would say,
00:06:14.300 well then we have to stop him
00:06:15.400 at all means,
00:06:15.980 because we've already tried
00:06:16.840 to impeach him,
00:06:17.420 that didn't work.
00:06:18.120 We tried to bankrupt him,
00:06:19.420 that didn't work.
00:06:20.160 We tried to lock him up,
00:06:21.380 that didn't work,
00:06:22.380 what's left?
00:06:24.180 Well,
00:06:24.800 and you're right,
00:06:26.180 and there's some irony
00:06:27.660 with Joe Biden suggesting,
00:06:29.700 you know,
00:06:29.940 we need to tamp down the rhetoric.
00:06:31.420 Look,
00:06:31.580 I'd like to see the rhetoric tamped down,
00:06:33.960 but then taking no responsibility.
00:06:36.520 Listen,
00:06:36.800 it is Democrats for a decade
00:06:38.780 who have been calling Donald Trump
00:06:41.760 Adolf Hitler.
00:06:43.020 Yeah.
00:06:43.940 And the media too.
00:06:45.860 And the media too.
00:06:46.880 Well,
00:06:47.420 I said Democrats,
00:06:48.300 and they're one and the same.
00:06:49.560 The corporate media
00:06:51.240 is the left wing
00:06:52.340 of the Democrat Party.
00:06:53.500 That is their role,
00:06:54.640 and they call him that
00:06:55.520 over and over and over again.
00:06:58.780 Here,
00:06:59.380 play the montage.
00:07:02.020 This is Democrats
00:07:03.220 repeatedly calling
00:07:04.760 for political violence.
00:07:05.920 It starts with Nancy Pelosi.
00:07:07.180 Give a listen.
00:07:07.940 Here is Nancy Pelosi,
00:07:09.120 as you mentioned,
00:07:09.820 Senator,
00:07:10.440 in her own words,
00:07:11.780 and many in the media
00:07:12.720 and other elected officials
00:07:14.320 explicitly calling
00:07:15.640 for political violence
00:07:16.900 against conservatives.
00:07:17.740 I just don't even know
00:07:19.880 why there aren't uprisings
00:07:21.120 all over the country.
00:07:22.080 Maybe there will be.
00:07:23.500 People need to start
00:07:24.440 taking to the streets.
00:07:25.660 This is a dictator.
00:07:27.440 You know,
00:07:27.680 there needs to be unrest
00:07:28.720 in the streets
00:07:29.220 for as long as there's
00:07:30.060 unrest in our lives.
00:07:31.480 Enemies of the state.
00:07:33.320 Show me where it says
00:07:34.140 that protests
00:07:34.720 are supposed to be polite
00:07:35.880 and peaceful.
00:07:37.440 Do something about
00:07:38.620 your dad's immigration practices,
00:07:40.640 you feckless.
00:07:41.280 They go low,
00:07:42.320 we kill them.
00:07:42.880 How do you resist
00:07:43.900 the temptation
00:07:44.480 to run up
00:07:45.060 and wring her neck?
00:07:45.800 The biggest terror threat
00:07:46.880 in this country
00:07:48.320 is white men,
00:07:50.380 most of them
00:07:50.960 radicalized
00:07:51.860 to the right.
00:07:52.960 I thought he should've
00:07:53.640 punched him in the face.
00:07:54.440 Even if he lost,
00:07:55.460 he insulted your wife.
00:07:56.500 He came down the escalator
00:07:57.540 and called Mexicans
00:07:58.260 rapists and murders.
00:07:59.200 He said,
00:07:59.420 well,
00:07:59.500 what do you think
00:07:59.800 I should've done?
00:08:00.220 I said,
00:08:00.360 I think you should've
00:08:00.740 punched him in the face
00:08:01.440 and then gotten out of the race.
00:08:02.400 He would've been a hero.
00:08:03.680 I'd like to punch him
00:08:04.580 in the face.
00:08:05.480 I said,
00:08:05.820 if we were in high school,
00:08:06.540 I'd take him behind the gym
00:08:07.480 and beat the hell out of him.
00:08:08.960 Punch some people
00:08:10.400 in the face!
00:08:11.460 When was the last time
00:08:12.580 an actor
00:08:13.420 assassinated a president?
00:08:14.720 They're still gonna have
00:08:15.840 to go out
00:08:16.200 and put a bullet
00:08:16.700 in Donald Trump
00:08:17.360 and that's a fact.
00:08:21.160 Look as his character
00:08:22.500 is stabbed to death.
00:08:24.380 Where is John Wilkes Booth
00:08:26.420 when you need him?
00:08:27.340 This way.
00:08:29.080 That's it right there.
00:08:30.160 Pull it up.
00:08:30.760 I have thought
00:08:31.760 an awful lot
00:08:33.280 about blowing up
00:08:34.720 the White House.
00:08:36.260 A Missouri state senator
00:08:37.620 is under investigation
00:08:38.960 by the Secret Service
00:08:40.400 after saying
00:08:41.260 she hopes
00:08:41.820 President Trump
00:08:42.720 is assassinated.
00:08:43.760 I will go
00:08:44.880 and take Trump
00:08:45.820 out tonight.
00:08:46.800 And if you see anybody
00:08:48.180 from that cabinet
00:08:49.500 in a restaurant,
00:08:51.140 in a department store,
00:08:53.540 at a gasoline station,
00:08:55.360 you get out
00:08:56.340 and you create a crowd.
00:08:58.440 And you push back on them.
00:09:00.620 And you tell them
00:09:01.840 they're not welcome
00:09:03.140 anymore, anywhere.
00:09:05.180 And sadly,
00:09:06.680 the domestic enemies
00:09:07.840 to our voting system
00:09:09.240 and our honoring
00:09:10.380 our Constitution
00:09:11.360 are right at
00:09:13.140 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
00:09:15.360 They're not gonna stop
00:09:16.180 before Election Day
00:09:17.140 in November
00:09:17.520 and they're not gonna stop
00:09:18.660 after Election Day.
00:09:20.240 And that should be,
00:09:21.020 everyone should take note
00:09:22.100 of that on both levels.
00:09:23.780 That this isn't,
00:09:24.640 they're not gonna let up
00:09:25.540 and they should not.
00:09:26.600 If you think we're rallying now,
00:09:28.540 you ain't seen nothing yet.
00:09:29.900 That's what Donald Trump
00:09:37.600 dealt with
00:09:38.180 while he was president
00:09:39.340 and after being the president.
00:09:43.240 Look, the radical left,
00:09:45.880 Donald Trump,
00:09:47.360 melted their minds.
00:09:49.940 They hate him
00:09:50.880 and they have spewed
00:09:52.300 invective and hate
00:09:53.780 for years.
00:09:56.180 And, listen,
00:09:58.400 there's invective
00:09:59.100 on both sides.
00:10:00.760 I would like to see
00:10:02.300 the political temperature
00:10:03.880 taken down.
00:10:06.800 But the Democrats
00:10:08.060 intend to go right back
00:10:09.180 to this.
00:10:09.600 This is a brief
00:10:10.580 little pause
00:10:11.940 for about 12 seconds
00:10:14.120 and by,
00:10:16.360 I don't know,
00:10:17.420 next week or the week after,
00:10:18.780 they're gonna go back
00:10:19.460 to calling him Hitler.
00:10:21.180 Because
00:10:21.660 the rage
00:10:23.940 and fury,
00:10:24.980 look,
00:10:25.380 the number of leftists
00:10:26.360 on Twitter
00:10:26.880 who were lamenting
00:10:28.460 that they were sad
00:10:29.520 that the assassinated
00:10:30.680 wasn't good at it.
00:10:31.540 Yeah,
00:10:31.740 they're basically saying
00:10:32.280 this,
00:10:32.700 and there were people
00:10:33.900 who were literally
00:10:34.280 tweeting out there
00:10:35.080 like,
00:10:35.500 hey,
00:10:35.680 this guy,
00:10:36.320 next time take lessons,
00:10:37.560 next time actually
00:10:38.380 do a good job.
00:10:39.780 And let me be clear,
00:10:41.100 as you and I talked about,
00:10:42.420 we did a podcast
00:10:43.060 immediately
00:10:43.720 in the moments
00:10:45.540 after this
00:10:46.400 assassination attempt,
00:10:48.320 I pray for Joe Biden.
00:10:50.840 I don't wish
00:10:51.500 political violence
00:10:52.440 on Democrats
00:10:53.880 or anyone else.
00:10:55.460 Now,
00:10:55.620 I want Joe Biden
00:10:56.500 defeated at the ballot box.
00:10:58.060 That,
00:10:58.180 I believe his policies
00:11:00.520 are harmful.
00:11:01.820 But there's a difference
00:11:02.780 between saying
00:11:03.480 his policies
00:11:04.120 are harmful
00:11:04.900 and saying
00:11:06.280 he's Hitler,
00:11:07.140 saying he's Mussolini,
00:11:09.060 which is what,
00:11:10.060 saying he's the devil,
00:11:11.560 which is what
00:11:12.240 the Democrats
00:11:13.360 have been doing
00:11:14.440 literally for a decade
00:11:15.960 and it's what
00:11:16.480 the media
00:11:16.840 has been doing too.
00:11:17.580 I said today,
00:11:19.100 how many cities
00:11:20.260 have Republicans
00:11:21.040 tried to destroy
00:11:21.740 after their candidate
00:11:22.540 was almost assassinated?
00:11:23.760 Just so we're clear,
00:11:24.860 zero.
00:11:25.940 What did Republicans
00:11:26.700 say today?
00:11:27.280 They said pray,
00:11:28.460 go to church,
00:11:29.720 and pray for the family
00:11:32.360 of those who lost
00:11:33.100 loved ones.
00:11:34.000 There's been no violence.
00:11:35.560 I never want to hear again
00:11:36.940 from the left,
00:11:37.520 oh,
00:11:37.720 it's the Republicans
00:11:38.700 or the extremists here.
00:11:40.360 There has been nothing
00:11:41.200 but love and compassion.
00:11:42.840 There's anger.
00:11:43.480 And we also need
00:11:46.160 to fix the damn problem.
00:11:48.820 We need to make sure
00:11:49.660 that there is
00:11:50.540 adequate protection
00:11:52.940 for Donald Trump
00:11:55.360 and for others
00:11:56.880 targeted by violence
00:11:58.080 because this was
00:12:00.320 a catastrophic failure
00:12:02.560 and we've got to make sure
00:12:04.000 it doesn't happen again.
00:12:05.020 Now,
00:12:05.560 if you want to hear
00:12:06.180 the rest of this conversation,
00:12:07.940 you can go back
00:12:08.700 and listen to the full podcast
00:12:10.280 from earlier this week.
00:12:12.160 Canadian women
00:12:12.980 are looking for more,
00:12:14.320 more out of themselves,
00:12:15.360 their businesses,
00:12:16.300 their elected leaders,
00:12:17.260 and the world around them.
00:12:18.480 And that's why
00:12:18.940 we're thrilled to introduce
00:12:20.100 the Honest Talk podcast.
00:12:22.120 I'm Jennifer Stewart.
00:12:23.400 And I'm Catherine Clark.
00:12:24.620 And in this podcast,
00:12:25.760 we interview Canada's
00:12:26.740 most inspiring women.
00:12:28.380 Entrepreneurs,
00:12:29.060 artists,
00:12:29.740 athletes,
00:12:30.360 politicians,
00:12:31.060 and newsmakers,
00:12:31.940 all at different stages
00:12:32.980 of their journey.
00:12:34.120 So if you're looking
00:12:35.140 to connect,
00:12:35.940 then we hope you'll join us.
00:12:37.340 Listen to the Honest Talk podcast
00:12:38.740 on iHeartRadio
00:12:39.740 or wherever you listen
00:12:40.700 to your podcasts.
00:12:42.980 Now on to story number two.
00:12:45.820 Senator,
00:12:46.260 I want to ask you this.
00:12:47.200 You mentioned the Senate
00:12:48.080 only meeting.
00:12:50.300 Details,
00:12:50.980 I'm going to read this
00:12:51.540 from CBS News.
00:12:52.460 Details are emerging
00:12:53.260 about the moments
00:12:53.980 that led to the shooting.
00:12:55.000 Bystanders alerted
00:12:56.000 law enforcement
00:12:56.740 to the government
00:12:57.520 on the roof
00:12:58.080 of a building
00:12:59.100 about 410 feet away
00:13:01.180 from the stage
00:13:01.980 at least two minutes
00:13:03.440 before the first shot
00:13:05.800 was fired
00:13:06.440 at Trump.
00:13:07.820 Yep.
00:13:07.960 How vulnerable
00:13:10.280 are we
00:13:11.820 and how vulnerable
00:13:13.460 is every president
00:13:14.460 past and present
00:13:16.240 if you've got
00:13:17.960 a two-minute warning
00:13:18.900 and the job
00:13:19.900 is still not done?
00:13:20.980 Did anyone answer
00:13:21.880 that question
00:13:22.600 on the call?
00:13:23.240 Look,
00:13:23.520 we need to have,
00:13:24.340 part of the reason
00:13:24.840 we need to have a hearing
00:13:25.700 is there are a whole series
00:13:26.600 of questions
00:13:27.180 about how many threats
00:13:28.140 have there been.
00:13:28.680 How many agents
00:13:29.440 did you have assigned?
00:13:31.320 Should there be
00:13:32.240 2x,
00:13:32.840 3x,
00:13:33.400 4x as many agents
00:13:34.620 assigned to the president?
00:13:36.180 What resources,
00:13:37.300 what equipment
00:13:37.860 did you have?
00:13:39.820 The threat profile,
00:13:41.520 I'm willing to bet
00:13:42.720 that Donald Trump
00:13:44.140 is the single most
00:13:45.200 threatened individual
00:13:46.060 on the face of the planet.
00:13:47.580 Now,
00:13:47.940 I don't actually have
00:13:49.320 the facts of the threats
00:13:50.380 that have come in
00:13:51.180 to prove that is correct,
00:13:53.060 but you know what?
00:13:53.660 Secret Service does.
00:13:55.540 And I would like us
00:13:57.300 to know
00:13:57.660 what is the comparative
00:13:58.500 threat level
00:13:59.260 between Trump and Biden.
00:14:01.400 And my concern
00:14:02.820 is that,
00:14:04.560 did politics play a role?
00:14:06.740 Was it politics
00:14:07.540 or incompetence?
00:14:08.800 Because it's clear
00:14:09.560 they screwed up massively.
00:14:11.300 I can tell you
00:14:12.480 in this call,
00:14:13.240 so you had one senator
00:14:14.200 who asked,
00:14:15.620 were there drones,
00:14:16.660 yes or no?
00:14:18.060 And the answer
00:14:19.000 from the head
00:14:19.740 of the Secret Service
00:14:20.620 was,
00:14:22.180 we determined
00:14:22.840 that the risk
00:14:23.500 from that rooftop
00:14:24.820 was mitigated
00:14:25.980 by counter snipers.
00:14:28.400 Meaning no.
00:14:29.160 number one,
00:14:30.660 she didn't even
00:14:31.180 say the word no,
00:14:32.840 which is what
00:14:33.420 someone honestly
00:14:34.440 would say.
00:14:35.420 She didn't say,
00:14:36.220 well obviously
00:14:36.760 we needed drones
00:14:37.480 and we should have had them,
00:14:38.340 which is what someone
00:14:38.960 obviously would have said.
00:14:40.300 She didn't make
00:14:41.060 the obvious point,
00:14:42.240 well the roof
00:14:42.740 was slanted
00:14:43.400 so the counter snipers
00:14:44.560 couldn't see the guy
00:14:45.620 because he was
00:14:46.320 on the other end
00:14:47.000 of the slant.
00:14:48.000 And by the way,
00:14:49.440 I'm pretty sure
00:14:50.380 the roof
00:14:50.820 didn't suddenly
00:14:51.560 slant itself
00:14:52.660 in between
00:14:53.660 when they advanced
00:14:54.560 the scene
00:14:55.200 and when it occurred.
00:14:56.900 In other words,
00:14:57.380 they could have figured out
00:14:58.640 if your quote
00:15:00.220 mitigation
00:15:00.940 is counter snipers
00:15:02.700 and they don't have
00:15:03.500 a line of sight
00:15:04.480 to a place
00:15:05.320 a sniper could be,
00:15:06.560 then you don't have
00:15:07.520 effective mitigation.
00:15:09.060 She addressed
00:15:09.780 none of that
00:15:10.900 but it was
00:15:11.840 pure bureaucratese
00:15:13.980 that's a good word for it.
00:15:17.540 This is why I love
00:15:18.560 having live studio audience.
00:15:20.740 When you look
00:15:21.900 at the roof
00:15:22.440 and for the folks
00:15:23.800 listening at home
00:15:24.640 since we are
00:15:25.200 in a studio audience
00:15:25.980 and the audience
00:15:26.640 is not mic'd,
00:15:27.940 I will just say
00:15:28.880 you guys were
00:15:29.880 in a cow field
00:15:30.720 and they suggested
00:15:31.600 it was a substance
00:15:32.420 that was probably
00:15:33.080 there in large amounts.
00:15:35.000 Exactly.
00:15:36.560 When you were there
00:15:37.740 and after the shooting
00:15:39.580 happened,
00:15:40.540 you saw how close
00:15:41.520 it was.
00:15:41.860 Were you shocked?
00:15:42.920 Because I'm sure
00:15:43.460 you saw the commotion
00:15:44.140 on the rooftop.
00:15:44.780 I'm sure you knew
00:15:45.520 that's where the shots
00:15:46.480 came out from.
00:15:47.880 Then you look at it.
00:15:49.420 Is there any,
00:15:50.120 I mean,
00:15:50.900 former military,
00:15:51.660 when you look at it,
00:15:52.380 could you believe
00:15:52.940 that building
00:15:53.680 was not monitored
00:15:54.400 the way it should have been?
00:15:55.200 Well, you know,
00:15:55.700 I would just be honest,
00:15:56.560 I didn't know.
00:15:57.780 On the site,
00:15:59.520 you're in the middle
00:16:00.760 of people,
00:16:01.740 you're trying
00:16:02.340 to get people out.
00:16:03.300 So I wasn't sure
00:16:04.920 until I got back
00:16:05.820 and saw the TV projections
00:16:07.760 and the aerial photos
00:16:08.740 where it came from.
00:16:09.700 Were you shocked then
00:16:10.620 knowing that you were there
00:16:11.560 and that's how close
00:16:12.300 that building was?
00:16:12.640 Oh yeah,
00:16:13.140 absolutely,
00:16:14.220 because it's
00:16:14.680 the most obvious place.
00:16:16.780 And the idea,
00:16:17.440 just to go back
00:16:17.960 to my earlier point,
00:16:19.280 the idea that the sniper,
00:16:21.880 the 20-year-old kid
00:16:23.560 who has no experience,
00:16:26.320 would have known
00:16:27.000 the place
00:16:27.780 where he wouldn't be
00:16:29.460 in the sniper's
00:16:30.300 line of sight.
00:16:31.080 Yeah.
00:16:31.500 Right,
00:16:31.740 these are questions,
00:16:33.120 I don't know
00:16:33.660 what the answer is,
00:16:34.800 but it seems
00:16:35.520 highly unlikely
00:16:36.520 that a single person
00:16:38.220 could have pulled this off
00:16:39.420 without so much luck
00:16:41.260 and so much incompetence
00:16:42.920 and so that's why
00:16:43.700 the hearings,
00:16:44.780 to give us confidence
00:16:45.700 that we understand
00:16:47.280 what really happened here
00:16:48.200 are so incredibly important.
00:16:49.620 Well,
00:16:51.480 and look,
00:16:51.820 I will say
00:16:52.280 the FBI was on
00:16:53.540 and they're investigating
00:16:54.500 and at least
00:16:55.200 what they're reporting
00:16:56.080 right now
00:16:56.700 is they don't have evidence
00:16:57.760 of anyone else
00:16:58.400 being involved
00:16:59.100 and they're looking
00:16:59.820 at his cell phone
00:17:00.540 and his computers
00:17:01.160 and they're engaged
00:17:01.860 in the forensics
00:17:02.680 and we will find out.
00:17:04.800 We have seen
00:17:05.460 with other instances
00:17:06.400 there are times
00:17:07.300 where their lone shooters
00:17:08.340 commit horrific attacks
00:17:09.860 and it's possible
00:17:10.720 that this young man
00:17:12.240 who is an alienated loner,
00:17:15.580 that unfortunately
00:17:16.500 is a profile
00:17:17.540 we've seen
00:17:18.720 in other instances
00:17:19.560 of people
00:17:20.080 who have committed
00:17:20.660 horrific offenses
00:17:21.920 and so we'll find out
00:17:23.820 in time.
00:17:25.900 You know,
00:17:26.400 I will say
00:17:26.980 when the shooting occurs
00:17:28.280 that this is one
00:17:29.280 of the moments
00:17:29.920 I think every one of us
00:17:32.820 is going to remember
00:17:33.480 exactly where we were
00:17:34.640 when this happened
00:17:35.380 and whether we were
00:17:37.020 staring in horror
00:17:38.140 at a television set
00:17:39.340 or in my instance
00:17:41.180 I was sitting there
00:17:42.000 having a meal with Heidi
00:17:42.980 and we're staring
00:17:43.720 in horror at our phones
00:17:45.000 and hitting refresh
00:17:46.080 and by the way
00:17:47.040 it says something
00:17:48.300 that nobody was
00:17:49.920 on news sites.
00:17:50.860 You're on social media,
00:17:51.840 you're on X
00:17:52.360 because it's the fastest thing.
00:17:53.860 You're getting immediate updates
00:17:55.180 of what's happening
00:17:56.060 one after the other
00:17:57.040 after the other.
00:17:58.000 So we talked about
00:17:58.940 for example
00:17:59.580 in our last podcast
00:18:00.460 we played
00:18:01.180 from what got put up
00:18:02.380 on X
00:18:02.880 of like one of the guys
00:18:04.740 standing outside the rally
00:18:05.860 that saw this guy
00:18:06.940 climbing on the roof
00:18:07.860 and he's yelling to cops.
00:18:08.960 There's a guy
00:18:09.900 with a rifle on the roof.
00:18:11.420 We now know
00:18:11.920 a local police officer
00:18:13.100 climbed up to that roof.
00:18:14.600 He pointed the rifle
00:18:15.600 at the local police officer
00:18:17.340 and yet
00:18:18.000 and we haven't had
00:18:19.200 these questions yet
00:18:20.280 what level of communication
00:18:21.740 was there
00:18:22.540 between the local police
00:18:23.580 and the Secret Service
00:18:24.560 the instant
00:18:25.780 the local police officer
00:18:27.180 saw a sniper
00:18:28.580 on a roof
00:18:29.240 with a gun.
00:18:31.400 He should have been
00:18:32.560 yelling in his microphone
00:18:33.960 shooter, shooter, shooter
00:18:35.440 instantaneously
00:18:36.820 the Secret Service
00:18:37.720 should have pulled Trump
00:18:38.600 off of that stage
00:18:39.900 before the shooter
00:18:40.780 could aim
00:18:41.340 and they should have
00:18:42.100 taken him out
00:18:42.640 right there.
00:18:43.380 That didn't happen
00:18:44.520 which raises the question
00:18:49.340 was the Secret Service
00:18:50.620 did they have
00:18:51.940 communication
00:18:52.700 synchronized
00:18:53.580 with local law enforcement
00:18:54.880 and I will tell you
00:18:56.680 something also
00:18:57.300 so I
00:18:57.780 right before this podcast
00:18:59.480 I was going to ask you
00:19:00.260 that question
00:19:00.740 because people are going
00:19:01.560 to want to hear this
00:19:02.240 you just met
00:19:03.860 with President Trump
00:19:04.780 at the convention
00:19:06.020 for people that are listening
00:19:07.100 you got to see him
00:19:09.100 this first time
00:19:09.860 since this happened
00:19:11.120 first time I've seen him
00:19:11.980 since he was shot
00:19:12.920 and I've visited with him
00:19:14.420 what did he say?
00:19:15.960 look number one
00:19:16.780 he is happy
00:19:18.280 he is strong
00:19:19.780 his ear is bandaged
00:19:20.920 I will tell you
00:19:23.180 he
00:19:23.400 he was quiet
00:19:26.800 for a second
00:19:27.440 and he spoke
00:19:30.500 with a seriousness
00:19:31.440 that was unlike
00:19:32.660 anything I've heard
00:19:33.660 from Donald Trump
00:19:34.360 before
00:19:34.760 and he said
00:19:37.240 God saved me
00:19:37.860 that day
00:19:38.240 and
00:19:40.360 listen
00:19:41.520 I believe
00:19:42.100 that is
00:19:42.700 absolutely right
00:19:44.760 many of us
00:19:47.020 have seen
00:19:47.640 online
00:19:48.300 for example
00:19:49.040 recreations
00:19:50.000 of the angle
00:19:50.660 of the bullet
00:19:51.220 and had his head
00:19:52.820 turned
00:19:53.380 even slightly
00:19:54.320 to the right
00:19:55.000 or even slightly
00:19:55.800 to the left
00:19:56.580 he would have been killed
00:19:58.640 and it is
00:20:01.000 what I said
00:20:02.960 at the convention
00:20:03.900 last night
00:20:04.660 I thank God
00:20:06.140 for saving him
00:20:07.020 I believe God
00:20:07.740 turned his head
00:20:08.440 turned his head
00:20:09.260 so that the path
00:20:10.020 of the bullet
00:20:10.520 did not kill him
00:20:11.760 that day
00:20:12.140 and
00:20:14.080 and listen
00:20:15.620 I
00:20:15.980 this is horrific
00:20:17.420 I will say
00:20:18.380 going back to the
00:20:19.200 Reagan analogy
00:20:19.840 one of the things
00:20:20.720 Reagan always said
00:20:22.960 is that
00:20:24.180 when he survived
00:20:25.140 that assassination
00:20:25.900 attempt
00:20:26.760 that it changed
00:20:27.380 that it gave him
00:20:29.460 a seriousness
00:20:30.220 of purpose
00:20:30.920 that God spared me
00:20:32.040 for a reason
00:20:32.660 and
00:20:33.960 and
00:20:34.300 listen
00:20:34.680 I think what
00:20:35.200 President Trump
00:20:35.860 has done already
00:20:36.480 for the country
00:20:37.100 has been extraordinary
00:20:38.040 but
00:20:38.540 but
00:20:38.860 I gotta say
00:20:40.520 just visiting with him
00:20:41.440 a few minutes ago
00:20:42.320 it was powerful
00:20:43.660 in a very different way
00:20:45.180 and this was just
00:20:45.860 him and me
00:20:46.800 talking one on one
00:20:48.220 that
00:20:49.540 that it had
00:20:50.420 had a real impact
00:20:51.500 and I also
00:20:52.160 I talked to him
00:20:53.480 about this briefing
00:20:54.200 that I just left
00:20:55.140 and
00:20:55.420 and I expressed
00:20:56.580 how
00:20:57.020 deeply
00:20:58.540 frustrating
00:20:59.300 it was
00:21:01.020 now I will say
00:21:01.820 have you noticed
00:21:02.600 Trump's secret service
00:21:04.800 detail here at the convention
00:21:06.240 they look like an offensive lineman
00:21:07.540 like a whole line
00:21:09.200 they brought him
00:21:09.900 the Green Bay Packers
00:21:10.880 I'm pretty sure
00:21:11.800 the entire Green Bay Packers
00:21:13.960 are right now
00:21:14.900 surrounding Donald Trump
00:21:15.860 what is your weight
00:21:16.620 and how tall are you
00:21:17.640 yes we'll take you today
00:21:18.720 yeah it is different
00:21:20.380 final question
00:21:21.220 for each of you
00:21:22.000 as we wrap
00:21:22.620 I believe
00:21:23.440 by the way
00:21:23.620 bringing in the Packers
00:21:24.440 is probably worth
00:21:25.040 three points
00:21:25.540 at least
00:21:26.160 that was
00:21:27.460 put a glide cue there
00:21:28.760 that was smooth
00:21:29.060 how you did that
00:21:29.880 put a glide cue there
00:21:31.120 I meant for Trump
00:21:31.260 I meant for Trump
00:21:32.260 as before
00:21:34.120 if you want to hear
00:21:34.940 the rest of this conversation
00:21:36.180 on this topic
00:21:37.300 you can go back
00:21:38.180 and download the podcast
00:21:39.500 from early this week
00:21:40.340 to hear the entire thing
00:21:41.620 Canadian women are looking
00:21:43.700 for more
00:21:44.320 more out of themselves
00:21:45.400 their businesses
00:21:46.240 their elected leaders
00:21:47.360 and the world around them
00:21:48.580 and that's why we're thrilled
00:21:49.720 to introduce
00:21:50.380 the Honest Talk podcast
00:21:51.860 I'm Jennifer Stewart
00:21:53.400 and I'm Catherine Clark
00:21:54.620 and in this podcast
00:21:55.700 we interview Canada's
00:21:57.020 most inspiring women
00:21:58.300 entrepreneurs
00:21:58.880 artists
00:21:59.780 athletes
00:22:00.440 politicians
00:22:01.060 and newsmakers
00:22:01.940 all at different stages
00:22:03.260 of their journey
00:22:04.100 so if you're looking
00:22:05.420 to connect
00:22:05.960 then we hope you'll join us
00:22:07.420 listen to the Honest Talk podcast
00:22:09.020 on iHeart Radio
00:22:09.920 or wherever you listen
00:22:10.980 to your podcasts
00:22:11.720 I want to get back
00:22:14.520 to the big story
00:22:15.720 number three of the week
00:22:16.660 you may have missed
00:22:17.440 two final questions
00:22:19.360 A
00:22:20.060 do they delay
00:22:21.500 the convention
00:22:22.440 number one
00:22:23.600 and two
00:22:24.920 if they delay
00:22:26.180 the convention
00:22:26.860 will he step down
00:22:29.240 at the convention
00:22:30.420 and then have
00:22:31.960 that be the media
00:22:33.240 or does it
00:22:33.880 come out
00:22:34.520 before the convention
00:22:35.660 I don't think
00:22:36.940 they delay the convention
00:22:37.920 they might
00:22:38.520 but I doubt it
00:22:39.480 and they don't wait
00:22:41.120 I think this happens
00:22:42.240 within the next week
00:22:43.260 I think this could easily
00:22:44.760 happen this weekend
00:22:45.760 and frankly
00:22:46.860 look the Democrats
00:22:47.720 are smart
00:22:48.520 by delaying
00:22:49.300 until after this convention
00:22:50.380 this convention
00:22:51.080 let it happen
00:22:51.720 and then kill the momentum
00:22:52.580 has been phenomenal
00:22:53.840 and the media
00:22:55.300 will treat
00:22:56.260 whoever parachutes in
00:22:58.880 the media will treat it
00:22:59.720 as a brand new race
00:23:00.860 ignore anything
00:23:02.120 that happened before
00:23:03.340 we're brand new
00:23:04.480 starting over
00:23:05.160 and so I think
00:23:05.980 they want to get on
00:23:06.740 with that quickly
00:23:07.920 so my prediction
00:23:10.040 by the way
00:23:10.700 if you want to think
00:23:12.100 about momentous
00:23:14.160 and historic
00:23:14.920 weeks in politics
00:23:16.260 on Saturday
00:23:18.220 the former president
00:23:19.940 of the United States
00:23:20.700 was shot
00:23:21.180 the first presidential
00:23:22.940 assassination attempt
00:23:24.060 since 1981
00:23:24.840 immediately thereafter
00:23:26.800 we've had an incredibly
00:23:28.580 successful
00:23:29.340 convention
00:23:30.280 we've had a vice presidential
00:23:32.000 nominee named
00:23:33.160 and it could be
00:23:34.360 within a week
00:23:35.220 of that
00:23:35.760 because I could easily
00:23:36.940 see it being
00:23:37.620 this weekend
00:23:38.380 Joe Biden
00:23:39.840 is off the ballot
00:23:40.740 and we have a new
00:23:42.440 Democrat nominee
00:23:43.320 and there's chatter
00:23:44.600 there's some of the
00:23:45.260 pundits that are saying
00:23:45.980 oh we ought to have
00:23:46.660 an open primary
00:23:47.380 we ought to have
00:23:47.760 Democrats fighting
00:23:48.380 not going to happen
00:23:48.840 I don't believe
00:23:49.700 that will happen
00:23:50.480 they will coronate
00:23:52.360 and I think it will be
00:23:52.900 one of the two
00:23:53.440 then my bonus question
00:23:54.800 is either three or C
00:23:56.060 depending on how
00:23:56.660 you want to list these
00:23:57.600 how many times
00:23:59.820 will Kamala Harris
00:24:00.620 or Michelle Obama
00:24:01.560 debate Donald Trump
00:24:02.900 once
00:24:03.520 we'll have one debate
00:24:04.540 just one debate
00:24:05.280 and could they get away
00:24:07.180 with saying
00:24:07.580 I'm not going to debate
00:24:08.640 no
00:24:08.960 even if it's Michelle
00:24:10.300 I think they will do
00:24:12.360 one debate
00:24:12.960 I think they will feel
00:24:14.000 like it's not credible
00:24:15.360 if you don't do a debate
00:24:16.540 particularly because
00:24:18.300 if you're Trump
00:24:18.900 do you push for two
00:24:19.660 I would
00:24:21.220 yeah
00:24:21.960 I'd say it's a reset
00:24:23.040 we're doing two of these
00:24:23.900 suckers before November
00:24:24.800 but I don't think
00:24:25.460 they'll end up doing it
00:24:26.340 look I think Trump
00:24:27.420 may well push for two
00:24:28.560 part of the reason
00:24:29.480 if you're a Democrat
00:24:30.300 everyone concedes
00:24:31.900 Trump mopped the floor
00:24:33.000 with Biden
00:24:33.560 I think as a Democrat
00:24:34.640 you don't want that
00:24:35.420 to be the only debate
00:24:36.320 if you're putting
00:24:36.900 someone new
00:24:37.600 you need something
00:24:38.500 credible
00:24:39.020 I will tell you
00:24:41.140 I just came from
00:24:41.860 a meeting that
00:24:42.500 J.D. Vance met
00:24:43.460 with all the senators
00:24:44.340 we're congratulating him
00:24:45.520 and he did have
00:24:46.540 a very funny thing
00:24:47.640 he shared with us
00:24:48.440 he said
00:24:48.840 you know
00:24:49.120 he was talking
00:24:49.660 to Trump about
00:24:51.080 well okay
00:24:52.080 who are we going to face
00:24:53.660 is it going to be
00:24:54.220 someone new
00:24:54.740 is it going to be Kamala
00:24:55.640 and J.D. said
00:24:57.640 well look Mr. President
00:24:59.140 I said yes
00:25:00.420 assuming I got to
00:25:01.600 debate Kamala
00:25:02.660 if they actually
00:25:03.340 bring in someone
00:25:04.020 that's a really good
00:25:04.720 debater
00:25:05.120 I may have to
00:25:06.020 rethink this
00:25:06.780 and Trump said
00:25:07.580 no backing out
00:25:08.320 you accepted the thing
00:25:09.260 you're stuck
00:25:09.800 you ain't going anywhere
00:25:11.800 but look
00:25:12.780 that
00:25:13.080 I
00:25:14.700 I think
00:25:16.200 they'll do it fast
00:25:17.280 by the way
00:25:17.940 I will point out
00:25:18.800 the night of the debate
00:25:20.080 when you and I
00:25:20.640 did a podcast
00:25:21.280 immediately thereafter
00:25:22.240 we said that night
00:25:23.520 this is the most
00:25:25.220 consequential
00:25:26.140 presidential debate
00:25:27.320 in American history
00:25:28.240 and the reason
00:25:29.020 we said that
00:25:29.940 is because we said
00:25:31.500 I believe
00:25:32.400 this will change
00:25:34.200 the names on the ballot
00:25:35.260 in November
00:25:35.800 and that has never happened
00:25:36.740 there's never been a debate
00:25:37.800 that changed the names
00:25:39.780 on the ballot
00:25:40.380 and that's exactly
00:25:41.240 what that debate did
00:25:42.080 it took a few weeks
00:25:42.800 to play out
00:25:43.300 but I think it is imminent
00:25:45.340 I think it is within days
00:25:46.820 to everybody
00:25:47.800 that's here in the hall
00:25:48.860 thank you guys
00:25:49.480 for joining us
00:25:50.500 it's nice to do a show
00:25:52.220 here live at the convention
00:25:53.300 Senator Cruz
00:25:54.680 and I do this
00:25:55.160 Monday, Wednesday, Friday
00:25:55.960 hit that subscribe
00:25:56.740 auto download button
00:25:58.420 wherever you are
00:25:59.540 and I have a feeling
00:26:00.520 how do you subscribe
00:26:01.540 because as you know
00:26:03.160 my dad is 85
00:26:04.160 my father is my hero
00:26:05.860 but my father points out
00:26:07.060 all the time
00:26:07.480 when I use the word subscribe
00:26:08.600 he says people
00:26:09.920 my generation
00:26:10.640 think magazine subscriptions
00:26:11.880 they think you're going
00:26:12.520 to charge us
00:26:13.140 it doesn't cost any money

00:26:26.420 but it's real simple
00:26:27.480 and I see a bunch of young people
00:26:28.900 they're laughing
00:26:29.460 you guys know how to do this
00:26:30.880 and like call your parents
00:26:32.540 call your grandparents
00:26:33.300 and say okay
00:26:33.860 give me your phone
00:26:34.600 actually don't even tell them
00:26:35.860 just take their phone
00:26:36.860 and say okay
00:26:37.360 it's easier
00:26:37.860 here pull it up
00:26:38.780 pull up podcast
00:26:39.780 hit subscribe
00:26:40.540 and it magically appears
00:26:42.820 you can set it to download
00:26:43.940 it'll magically appear
00:26:45.040 and it's every Monday
00:26:45.880 every Wednesday
00:26:46.700 it's every Friday
00:26:47.480 and we do this
00:26:48.860 number one
00:26:49.600 if you subscribe
00:26:51.460 to the podcast
00:26:52.160 you know what's happening
00:26:53.180 we predicted this
00:26:54.400 ten months ago
00:26:55.440 and by the way
00:26:56.080 nobody else was predicting this
00:26:57.380 we were
00:26:57.940 do we get a letter
00:26:58.660 from the media
00:26:59.200 when they thought
00:26:59.840 we were moonbacks
00:27:00.400 apologizing
00:27:01.260 no
00:27:01.620 okay
00:27:02.060 but number two
00:27:04.000 this is designed
00:27:05.560 to equip you
00:27:07.360 to give you the tools
00:27:08.960 when you're talking
00:27:09.680 to your friends
00:27:10.280 your family
00:27:10.940 young people
00:27:11.800 when you're talking
00:27:12.340 to your classmates
00:27:12.940 in school
00:27:13.480 and they're arguing
00:27:14.600 and to give you the facts
00:27:16.260 that the corporate media
00:27:17.460 never reports
00:27:18.120 that's what we try to do
00:27:19.640 three times a week
00:27:20.820 on this
00:27:21.520 is this is what
00:27:22.580 you need to know
00:27:23.540 to go and persuade
00:27:25.220 and win
00:27:26.020 and I promise
00:27:26.820 we will have an emergency pod
00:27:28.260 if and when
00:27:30.820 Joe Biden
00:27:31.760 drops out
00:27:32.560 that's a fair prediction
00:27:34.460 I think that is
00:27:35.340 a fair prediction
00:27:36.060 grab it
00:27:36.980 wherever you can
00:27:38.060 Donald Trump's speech
00:27:39.520 tonight
00:27:39.860 any prediction
00:27:41.000 last minute
00:27:41.680 will he needle
00:27:42.660 Joe Biden
00:27:43.220 look I think
00:27:44.560 it is going to be
00:27:45.340 substantially tamped down
00:27:47.280 I think Saturday
00:27:49.220 changed the speech
00:27:50.260 in fact I know
00:27:50.960 Saturday changed the speech
00:27:52.280 that I think
00:27:53.440 prior to Saturday
00:27:54.380 the speech
00:27:54.920 was going to be
00:27:55.840 quite combative
00:27:57.120 and I expect
00:27:58.980 to see
00:27:59.840 a lot of unity
00:28:01.440 a lot more
00:28:02.540 language seeking
00:28:03.800 to bring people together
00:28:04.780 and look
00:28:05.400 we've seen this
00:28:06.920 throughout the convention
00:28:07.820 we talked about
00:28:09.840 we did a live podcast
00:28:11.080 at the convention
00:28:11.780 yesterday
00:28:12.280 I talked about
00:28:13.000 when I visited
00:28:13.560 with President Trump
00:28:14.340 yesterday
00:28:14.740 and I think
00:28:16.580 Saturday really
00:28:17.360 had an impact
00:28:18.000 on him
00:28:18.280 had an impact
00:28:18.960 I mean he kind of
00:28:19.660 pulled me aside
00:28:20.460 and said really quietly
00:28:21.460 just said
00:28:22.020 God save me
00:28:23.420 and it was
00:28:24.740 it was quiet
00:28:25.740 and serious
00:28:26.520 in a way
00:28:27.360 that I think
00:28:28.900 is really consequential
00:28:30.040 and listen
00:28:32.100 I think it's
00:28:32.980 you can't go through
00:28:34.780 what he went through
00:28:35.640 Saturday
00:28:36.400 having been shot
00:28:37.840 and having been
00:28:38.580 within a half inch
00:28:39.720 of being killed
00:28:41.000 amen
00:28:41.460 without really thinking
00:28:43.280 about God Almighty
00:28:44.300 turning his head
00:28:45.040 because I believe
00:28:45.920 that happened
00:28:46.480 I believe it was
00:28:47.240 divine providence
00:28:48.400 that turned his head
00:28:49.360 and had it been
00:28:49.820 slightly one way
00:28:50.660 or the other
00:28:51.180 we would be having
00:28:52.460 a dramatically
00:28:52.940 different conversation
00:28:53.840 As always
00:28:54.980 thank you for listening
00:28:56.460 to Verdict

00:29:01.100 and you can listen
00:29:01.840 to my podcast
00:29:02.480 every other day
00:29:03.020 you're not listening
00:29:03.600 to Verdict
00:29:03.980 or each day
00:29:04.780 when you listen
00:29:05.180 to Verdict
00:29:05.480 afterwards
00:29:06.040 I'd love to have you
00:29:07.400 as a listener

00:29:08.780 the Ben Ferguson podcast
00:29:09.960 and we will see you
00:29:10.880 back here
00:29:11.500 on Monday morning
