00:00:00.000 This is an iHeart Podcast.
00:00:02.580 Guaranteed human.
00:00:05.440 Welcome. It is Verdict with Ted Cruz.
00:00:07.880 Week in Review. Ben Ferguson with you.
00:00:10.580 And my oh my, was it a big week at the Democratic Convention and we covered a lot.
00:00:16.040 Optics seemed to be the number one thing Democrats were obsessed with.
00:00:20.400 And it was showing a unified front.
00:00:22.900 But they may be lying to you about just how unified the Democratic Party is.
00:00:27.080 We're going to explain exactly what Democrats are saying behind closed doors about Kamala Harris's campaign.
00:00:34.580 Also, playing the hits, right?
00:00:37.060 It's a smart strategy if you're the Democrats.
00:00:39.860 But can it work with Kamala?
00:00:43.000 Apparently, many of the Democrats don't think that's a strategy that can get her all the way to the White House.
00:00:48.620 And finally, can America actually trust Kamala Harris after lying about Biden's cognitive decline and covering it up for so long?
00:00:58.780 We're going to deal with all of that.
00:01:00.680 It is the Week in Review and it starts right now.
00:01:04.160 You also have the optics of the party right now.
00:01:07.460 And the Democratic Party is very much acting like they are united.
00:01:10.440 But there was some reporting that came out night, too.
00:01:14.060 And it said VP Kamala Harris held an event 90 miles away from the DNC on the night the party's two most popular figures, Barack and Michelle Obama, campaigned on her behalf.
00:01:24.840 And a source familiar with the DNC planning tells Fox that the choice was made out of sensitivity and respect for, quote, Joe Biden.
00:01:33.740 Obama's are still not on the White House good side, quote, unquote.
00:01:38.340 Why?
00:01:38.620 Because, well, they were part of the coup.
00:01:40.480 A source familiar with the situation said, quote, it would not be helpful to their relationships, quote, unquote.
00:01:47.340 Fox is told this plan came together to avoid the optics of Harris still serving as Biden's VP,
00:01:53.380 appearing alongside one of the figures he views as responsible for driving him out of office, driving the end of his reelection bid.
00:02:01.500 At the very convention, which was supposed to be his his only weeks ago, quote, we are in tricky territory, the source said to Fox.
00:02:11.660 Now, I find a little bit of hope in this because you mentioned the media.
00:02:16.220 You mentioned everything's supposed to be kumbaya.
00:02:19.080 But there's still a lot going on behind the scenes.
00:02:22.780 There are still people, by the way.
00:02:24.580 And I tweeted this out when I was watching Michelle Obama and she came out.
00:02:27.840 I said, go and compare the crowd noise and the excitement when Michelle Obama walked out to when Kamala Harris walked out.
00:02:36.800 And they love Michelle more than they love their president for their candidate for the White House.
00:02:42.180 Well, look, that's clearly true.
00:02:44.080 And you and I 11 months ago predicted, number one, that Joe Biden, the Democrats would throw him off the ticket.
00:02:49.080 We were right on that.
00:02:50.040 But number two, I predicted that they would replace him with Michelle Obama.
00:02:55.220 Now, I got to say, if they had, I think their odds of winning would be very, very high.
00:03:02.180 If I were a Democrat, I would have been all in on the team Michelle because Michelle would have been a incredibly formidable candidate.
00:03:11.080 I think they tried to convince Michelle to do it.
00:03:13.580 I think she said no.
00:03:14.500 And you and I talked about at the time what would prevent that.
00:03:17.880 And I said two things would prevent that.
00:03:19.400 One, if Joe refused to go, and I think he did refuse to go for month after month after month until they finally forced him out by threatening the 25th Amendment.
00:03:28.100 And then I said, number two, maybe just maybe Michelle would say no.
00:03:31.840 Why?
00:03:32.820 Because she likes to take more than she needs.
00:03:35.120 Why?
00:03:35.440 Because she likes to fly on a G5.
00:03:37.960 Why?
00:03:38.480 Because she likes Martha's Vineyard.
00:03:40.000 Why?
00:03:40.300 Because she likes to party with Oprah Winfrey and George Clooney.
00:03:42.840 Why?
00:03:43.620 Because she lives the life of a movie star and so decided not to do that.
00:03:48.560 Now, I'm grateful for America that she did because, as I said, she would have been an incredibly dangerous candidate.
00:03:55.260 But I got to say, listening last night to Michelle Obama and listening to Barack Obama,
00:04:01.060 those two may be the two most dangerous demagogues our country has seen in a generation.
00:04:08.240 Barack Obama, listening to him talk, that man is a talented communicator.
00:04:14.660 I disagree with him on virtually every issue.
00:04:17.760 I think Barack Obama is the progenitor of the Marxist takeover of the Democrat Party.
00:04:24.340 I think that is his ideology.
00:04:26.800 It is born of the radical extremism in our universities.
00:04:30.640 And, but he can dress it up in a way that it doesn't sound extreme.
00:04:37.420 It is dangerous.
00:04:38.620 And I'll say one thing I thought about last night during the convention.
00:04:42.060 Thank God for the 22nd Amendment.
00:04:45.480 Thank God for the limitation of two terms as a president.
00:04:49.020 Because if Barack Obama were still running, he might be president for another decade.
00:04:54.280 And so I'm grateful that he can't formally have the job, but he remains incredibly potent and incredibly dangerous because he masks up extreme radicalism in a way that seems innocuous, that seems non-threatening, and that seems very hip and very cool.
00:05:12.580 Well, I stopwatched it.
00:05:13.760 He literally demonized Republicans for 31 minutes and then called for unity.
00:05:20.380 I mean, who can do that unless you're an incredibly talented politician where you trash the other side?
00:05:28.180 And by the way, I'm still waiting for somebody in prime time to say they're glad that Donald Trump is alive and wasn't assassinated.
00:05:34.400 That's not ever, that hasn't come out of anybody's mouth.
00:05:37.140 No, they're trying to completely erase that gaslight that and just completely erase it from public consciousness that it even happened.
00:05:46.240 And here we are.
00:05:47.860 Two other questions I want to dive into real quick.
00:05:51.460 I haven't seen a lot of American flags of the Democratic Convention, except if they're being burnt outside of the DNC.
00:05:59.380 Democratic supporters are there burning the American flag.
00:06:02.860 We are seeing, I would argue, a fair amount of arrests.
00:06:07.060 We've had a second perimeter wall that's had to be put up because of the pro-Hamas, pro-terrorist protesters.
00:06:12.240 We're able to break through the first wall yesterday.
00:06:15.880 And the Chicago police, you know, for Democrats, they're all about defund the police until they need them to protect their convention.
00:06:23.920 And many of the Democrats are being protected by these police are the same ones that have been demonizing and attacking the police.
00:06:30.500 One of them, by the way, is Kamala Harris.
00:06:32.040 Let's not let her off the hook for that.
00:06:33.480 And we also found out from the people in charge, they said, don't worry, if it's a misdemeanor, no one's going to be charged with any crime.
00:06:41.360 So go out there and do what you want during the convention.
00:06:44.600 So I think it's worth asking yourself, why is it that anti-Israel, pro-Hamas protesters burn the American flag?
00:06:54.240 And the reason is simple.
00:06:57.260 Those who hate Israel hate America.
00:07:01.820 And when you understand that simple reality, it tells you an enormous amount about the delegates that are in that convention hall.
00:07:13.480 Why is Josh Shapiro not Kamala Harris's VP nominee?
00:07:17.620 Answer, because he's Jewish.
00:07:19.360 And Kamala Harris and the Democrat Party did not want to piss off the angry protesters outside who are burning American flags.
00:07:28.880 That is more and more the base of the Democrat Party.
00:07:32.100 And understand, they don't just hate Israel.
00:07:34.800 They hate America as well.
00:07:37.220 All right.
00:07:37.920 So let's look ahead into the political crystal ball, Senator.
00:07:43.500 You still have a candidate that the Democratic Party isn't that excited about, that behind the scenes, they're worried and nervous that the coronation is now coming back down to the reality,
00:07:57.500 which is she was not liked as a vice president for the last three and a half years.
00:08:02.060 She was not liked as a presidential candidate either and was like one of the first ones out of the race.
00:08:09.520 And now she's back in prime time.
00:08:12.680 What does she have to do to sell herself to the American people?
00:08:15.980 Can she overcome all of that?
00:08:17.840 Or are they just screwed because Harris is, at the end of the day, still Harris?
00:08:22.300 Well, look, they're motivated by two things.
00:08:25.760 Number one, a lust for power.
00:08:28.740 And Democrats are united in a lust for power.
00:08:31.840 They are willing to do just about anything to stay in power.
00:08:35.400 They were perfectly willing to be behind a president who is all but comatose.
00:08:41.920 They knew that.
00:08:42.960 Everybody knew that.
00:08:44.140 And yet it kept them in power.
00:08:46.760 So it was just fine with them to have a commander in chief who was not capable of defending this nation.
00:08:52.400 By the way, it's also why they're willing to embrace policies like open borders and the invasion of this country,
00:08:59.320 because they look at 11 and a half million million illegal immigrants as future Democrat voters.
00:09:04.140 And so power justifies everything.
00:09:07.340 And this is a Democrat party that that they follow orders.
00:09:11.960 They they are collectivists.
00:09:14.160 They are authoritarian.
00:09:14.940 So they all follow orders.
00:09:16.800 So everyone is on team Kamala.
00:09:18.620 By the way, I don't think you're going to hear much complaining, even from the Biden circles, about him being forced out,
00:09:24.420 because when they crack the whip, this is a party that everybody gets on board, even Joe Biden, after he's been put out to pasture.
00:09:32.400 But secondly, what is going to motivate Democrats in this election?
00:09:36.320 Hatred for Donald J. Trump.
00:09:38.220 It's why the word Trump is the most frequent word uttered at the convention, because that's what they're all unified.
00:09:45.440 They might disagree on other things, but they all agree we hate Trump.
00:09:50.240 Those two things are going to motivate a lot of Democrats.
00:09:53.040 And we got to make sure that the American people are focused on the issues, focused on the policy, focused on the substance,
00:10:00.060 focused on the utter failures of Kamala Harris and Joe Biden's policies and how they've hurt the American people.
00:10:07.540 If we can focus on the issues, we win.
00:10:09.680 Now, if you want to hear the rest of this conversation, you can go back and listen to the full podcast from earlier this week.
00:10:17.360 Canadian women are looking for more, more out of themselves, their businesses, their elected leaders and the world around them.
00:10:23.720 And that's why we're thrilled to introduce the Honest Talk podcast.
00:10:27.520 I'm Jennifer Stewart.
00:10:28.620 And I'm Catherine Clark.
00:10:29.840 And in this podcast, we interview Canada's most inspiring women, entrepreneurs, artists, athletes, politicians and newsmakers,
00:10:36.880 all at different stages of their journey.
00:10:39.040 So if you're looking to connect, then we hope you'll join us.
00:10:42.580 Listen to the Honest Talk podcast on iHeartRadio or wherever you listen to your podcasts.
00:10:48.480 Now on to story number two.
00:10:50.840 You know, when you have a convention, it's always about play the hits, right?
00:10:53.800 And they're going to have a lot of people that come in and a lot of people that, quote unquote, play the hits.
00:11:00.560 It's going to be Barack Obama.
00:11:02.880 It's going to be Michelle Obama.
00:11:04.280 It's going to be every famous person that they want to throw up there.
00:11:07.280 It's going to be the Clintons.
00:11:09.020 They're going to clearly, I think, play the hits.
00:11:12.920 Is that a smart strategy, even if it kind of takes her off stage a little bit?
00:11:17.940 Is that actually a better idea?
00:11:20.480 Because then it's not all about her.
00:11:22.380 It's more about the kumbayaism of the Democrats.
00:11:25.000 Absolutely.
00:11:27.100 Look, they don't want to actually talk about Joe Biden's record.
00:11:31.560 And so playing the hits, playing Barack, playing Michelle, you know, they're going to have Bill Clinton and have some nostalgia.
00:11:39.820 They're going to talk about, hey, things were great when we were in charge.
00:11:44.080 Bizarrely enough, they're trying to run as the change campaign, despite the fact that the Democrats are the incumbent party.
00:11:52.600 What is so bizarre about every time Kamala proposes something is, OK, if she could magically lower prices in grocery stores, why isn't she doing so right now?
00:12:03.720 Like, she's in office, like there's nothing preventing her.
00:12:08.400 If there is this magic wand, is she just mean?
00:12:12.320 Does she just like high grocery prices?
00:12:14.780 No, it's complete nonsense.
00:12:16.540 But no one in the press is asking, wait a second, you are in office.
00:12:20.140 You don't get to say, here's my great idea.
00:12:22.640 You know, we're watching her emulate Trump's policies, things like copying no taxes on tips.
00:12:30.560 Well, she's been in office for four years.
00:12:34.540 Why haven't they proposed it?
00:12:36.040 I've filed legislation to do that.
00:12:37.960 Where's the White House?
00:12:39.220 They are simply trying to ignore the fact that they are the incumbent administration.
00:12:48.480 You're going to see a lot of that.
00:12:51.580 There's something else that I think it's important for us to point out.
00:12:55.000 We've talked a lot about how Democrats engage in Freudian projection.
00:13:00.560 I think Sigmund Freud is rolling over in his grave that every single thing the Democrats accuse their opponents of doing,
00:13:11.660 every single thing is, in fact, what the Democrats are doing.
00:13:14.560 Now, Ben, what was the adjective that Tim Waltz famously used for Republicans, especially J.D. Vance?
00:13:22.940 Weird.
00:13:23.960 Weird.
00:13:24.320 And, by the way, like Joy, he said weird, and suddenly every corporate meat outlet, weird, weird, weird, weird, weird, weird, weird, weird, weird.
00:13:31.640 That became the, you know, weird is the word.
00:13:34.760 By the way, can we just, you just mentioned weird.
00:13:39.020 Doug Inhofe today said something that was weird, referring to Harris and Waltz.
00:13:45.440 You were sitting behind him.
00:13:46.160 Listen.
00:13:46.700 And, again, we really bonded.
00:13:48.180 You saw me get up on that stage, and we just hugged it out.
00:13:51.300 A few of my friends texted me, saying, what's the deal?
00:13:54.540 Like, I've known you for 20 or 30 years.
00:13:56.940 You've never hugged me like that.
00:13:58.360 Well, you've never been a vice presidential candidate before on stage.
00:14:03.340 By the way, that's weird.
00:14:05.060 That is just something weird to say if you want to talk weird, and that's the Harris campaign.
00:14:09.520 Okay, and I got that beat.
00:14:12.220 I'm going to give you something really bizarre.
00:14:15.880 This is a headline from this week.
00:14:17.380 DNC attendees will have opportunities for free vasectomies, abortions.
00:14:27.680 Here's the news article.
00:14:29.580 Attendees at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago will have the opportunity to receive free vasectomies and abortions just blocks away from the proceedings at the United Center.
00:14:38.560 Planned Parenthood at Great Rivers, which operates in parts of Missouri and Illinois, will park its mobile health clinic near the DNC on October 19th and August 20th, according to the New York Times.
00:14:51.760 Medication abortions are reportedly available on both days, with vasectomies exclusively being offered on Monday.
00:14:59.100 We clip them Mondays.
00:15:00.360 And, in fact, here's the tweet.
00:15:02.960 Here we come Chicago.
00:15:04.200 Our mobile health clinic will be in the West Loop providing free vasectomies and medication abortion.
00:15:11.040 Okay, Ben, that is weird.
00:15:14.200 A political convention we're going to nominate our presidential nominee.
00:15:20.740 You go to Chicago.
00:15:22.240 What for?
00:15:22.820 You want a free vasectomy and free abortion?
00:15:25.240 Like, these people are zealots.
00:15:28.680 Yeah, it's not just weird.
00:15:31.700 It's also, I would argue, creepy on a whole other level because they're actually celebrating the fact that you can come to the Democratic Convention with child and leave without a child.
00:15:44.940 And that is now the Democratic Party.
00:15:48.260 Planned Parenthood actually put it out.
00:15:50.660 Not only are they offering free abortions and vasectomies to the DNC, but they said they've, like, maxed out of appointments, apparently, for the vasectomies.
00:16:00.160 And they said we've got unlimited, however, medical abortions, medication abortion.
00:16:05.360 So just keep on coming, ladies, with your babies to the DNC.
00:16:09.780 Come with a child and leave without one.
00:16:12.180 That's sick.
00:16:14.080 All right.
00:16:14.540 It is certainly sick, and you think about how far the Democrat Party has come.
00:16:19.820 Bill Clinton stood up in the State of the Union, and he said as a Democrat he wanted abortion to be safe, legal, and rare.
00:16:29.220 There was a time when Democrats would acknowledge that abortion was the taking of a life.
00:16:34.260 And they defended it, but they didn't celebrate it.
00:16:41.580 Now this Democrat Party is all about abortion all the time.
00:16:46.740 It's a reason to dance in the streets.
00:16:50.920 That is just how extreme the Democrat Party has gone.
00:16:55.540 But I am going to say something.
00:16:56.860 I'm going to go out on a limb.
00:16:58.580 There's actually a portion of this I support.
00:17:00.960 I support every delegate at the DNC getting a vasectomy.
00:17:06.300 I think the world will be better off if these people don't reproduce.
00:17:11.480 Now look, half of them are not actually going to have conjugal relations with someone of the opposite sex,
00:17:16.360 and so they probably won't reproduce anyway.
00:17:18.200 But I'm for it.
00:17:19.440 Let's just stop it now.
00:17:22.820 I'm really grateful.
00:17:24.160 I would encourage you're a bad Democrat delegate if you don't get snipped.
00:17:29.260 Senator, let me ask you two final questions.
00:17:32.200 One, what do you expect from the V.P. candidate this week?
00:17:37.600 Is that part of the campaign kind of going to disappear?
00:17:41.240 I mean, we saw the excitement the DNC and all the Democrats had over at Walls.
00:17:45.860 Now, is he just kind of okay next?
00:17:48.720 Number one, will that be an issue?
00:17:51.280 And number two, Harris's speech, how important is this speech to her future?
00:17:58.540 Well, look, I think Tim Waltz, Tim Waltz will have a major primetime speech,
00:18:03.520 and they're going to do a lot to tell the narrative of him as nice old grandpa, your favorite teacher.
00:18:15.220 They're going to call him coach a lot.
00:18:16.940 He's going to be coach, coach, coach.
00:18:19.340 And it's going to be, I mean, think Mr. Holland's opus.
00:18:22.620 It is going to be telling the narrative of a nice, you know, genial, affable teacher who just mentored young people,
00:18:32.540 and he coached them on the football team, and he's just, they're going to do everything they can to make it sunshine and light and joy.
00:18:41.320 They will not, I predict, have him play the typical role of attack dog that VP candidates often do.
00:18:51.400 They'll do a little bit of that, and it'll mostly be attacking Trump and Vance.
00:18:58.940 I think you'll get some of, he'll use his line that they're weird because that kind of made his name.
00:19:05.000 But I think they will try to just pitch him as utterly harmless, and they will talk nothing about the radical policies.
00:19:14.760 You will not hear about the snitch line he set up to report on your neighbors if they violated his draconian stay-at-home order.
00:19:24.280 You will not hear about his order to put tampons in the boys' bathroom at school because, you know, boys really do need tampons.
00:19:31.160 You won't hear any of that.
00:19:32.180 You will not hear when they tell his life about the romantic honeymoon he enjoyed in communist China.
00:19:39.560 None of those extreme positions, none of the weird aspects of his life will be highlighted.
00:19:46.480 As for her speech, look, this speech is a big deal, and I think she will give a good speech.
00:19:53.000 I think Republicans that are all eager, oh, she's going to fall on her face.
00:19:58.200 Listen, at the convention, she's done a pretty good job at the rally.
00:20:01.540 She reads from the teleprompter just fine, and they'll write her a good speech.
00:20:06.560 They've got some amazing storytellers in the Democrat Party, and it is going to be all – none of it is going to take responsibility for the disastrous and failed record of the last four years.
00:20:18.880 But it is all going to be hope and change and joy, and, you know, I think she will deliver it just fine.
00:20:28.200 And she's at much, much greater risk when she's ad-libbing, when she's answering questions and being pressed.
00:20:34.100 That will not happen this week, so she'll read the speech just fine.
00:20:38.240 As before, if you want to hear the rest of this conversation on this topic, you can go back and download the podcast from early this week to hear the entire thing.
00:20:47.040 Canadian women are looking for more – more out of themselves, their businesses, their elected leaders, and the world around them.

00:21:09.560 So, if you're looking to connect, then we hope you'll join us.
00:21:13.060 Listen to the Honest Talk Podcast on iHeartRadio or wherever you listen to your podcasts.
00:21:18.900 I want to get back to the big story number three of the week you may have missed.
00:21:23.420 It's interesting that you said they need to lay out these facts.
00:21:25.820 And the rapid response from the Trump campaign, I think, did a pretty damn good job during the Democratic Convention laying some of this out.
00:21:32.400 Because right at the end of her speech, they sent out a picture with Kamala Harris next to Joe Biden.
00:21:40.380 And it said, Biden-Harris accomplishments.
00:21:42.700 And here it was, the bullet points.
00:21:44.140 Allowed 15 million unvetted illegals into the country.
00:21:47.320 Historic inflation crisis.
00:21:50.040 Record high gas prices in all 50 states.
00:21:52.740 Record high consumer debt.
00:21:54.780 Release terrorists into the country.
00:21:57.420 Ukraine, Russia war.
00:21:59.460 Israel, Hamas war.
00:22:00.920 Disaster withdrawal from Afghanistan.
00:22:03.700 Violent crime skyrocketing.
00:22:06.080 Tried to jail political rival in the name of democracy.
00:22:09.700 Lied to the American public about Joe's decline.
00:22:13.260 And I think we should talk about that in a second, Senator.
00:22:16.100 Declared war on American energy.
00:22:19.080 Record low test scores.
00:22:20.880 In this country right now, for K-12 students.
00:22:24.200 And she was also the most unpopular vice president in U.S. history.
00:22:30.920 Now, there's a trust factor here.
00:22:33.600 And I'm not so sure that the Trump campaign has done a good enough job of talking about this issue.
00:22:39.900 And I think they should actually talk about it more, especially at the debate coming up.
00:22:43.320 Is how can we trust you when you clearly covered up the cognitive decline of the president of the United States of America?
00:22:51.060 I think that would resonate with American voters.
00:22:54.120 Can I trust a woman that clearly lied to me for three years?
00:22:58.300 Yeah, I guess I don't see it the same way you do.
00:23:02.060 I think most voters are cynical of politicians across the board.
00:23:06.100 I think they think all politicians are liars.
00:23:09.020 And so did Kamala Harris lie to the American people for four years?
00:23:13.140 Absolutely.
00:23:13.860 Did she cover up Joe Biden's mental decline?
00:23:16.040 Absolutely.
00:23:17.140 I'm not sure that changes a vote, though.
00:23:19.420 I think that's a little bit baked into the cake.
00:23:21.800 I think what I would like to see the conversation on, I think every election turns on the most basic question, are you better off than you were four years ago?
00:23:31.300 Amen to that.
00:23:31.960 And when the Trump campaign gets distracted by issues that are not about how the American people's lives are worse off today than they were when Trump was president, if the campaign gets distracted, it's not making progress.
00:23:48.600 I think it needs to focus every day.
00:23:51.060 And by the way, look, that set of bullet points that the campaign put out last night, that was a good set of bullet points.
00:23:58.480 That needs to be very much what Donald Trump is saying on the stump, what he's saying in interviews, what their ads are saying.
00:24:07.100 And one of the points in there that has not gotten enough attention is the plummeting test scores for kids and especially African-American kids and Hispanic kids.
00:24:17.740 And, you know, it was striking tonight at the convention earlier in the in the convention before Kamala spoke.
00:24:24.880 They had Randy Weingarten, the leader of one of the big teachers unions who advocated for shutting down schools for over a year.
00:24:34.220 Tens of millions of school kids had their school shut down for over a year because of covid.
00:24:39.440 Kamala was a vocal and vigorous advocate of that.
00:24:43.000 And it will go down, I believe, in history as one of the most catastrophic policies ever implemented that hurt tens of millions of children across this country.
00:24:53.360 I think we need to make that case that kids have been hurt by her radical policies.
00:24:58.460 And you overlay that by her radical immigration policies that are releasing violent criminals that are threatening kids.
00:25:04.780 You overlay that with a radical policy supporting defunding the police that are releasing violent criminals that are threatening our kids.
00:25:12.760 Look, much of this election is going to come down to suburban voters and suburban women who historically have voted Republican.
00:25:25.820 And in recent years have moved left and suburban women in recent elections have not been fans of Trump personally, of his style.
00:25:37.360 However, you look at the number one issue with suburban women, it is illegal immigration and it is crime, those two together.
00:25:48.060 And it goes fundamentally to the safety of their families, the safety of their kids.
00:25:53.540 And I think litigating that case, making the case that Kamala Harris has endangered your family and your children is really important.
00:26:04.300 And I also mentioned on the disconnected from reality, you know, Kamala went through this whole litany that Trump is going to lock up his opponents and wage war on you and send American troops against the American people.
00:26:20.860 And it really was a dystopian, Mad Max picture of Trump as a deranged dictator.
00:26:28.160 And listen, that's the kind of rhetoric that sells well with left wing Democrats.
00:26:33.080 But it ignores the fact that we had four years with Donald Trump as president.
00:26:39.880 He didn't do any of that for that matter.
00:26:43.040 The party that has done much of that has been Joe Biden and Kamala Harris that have used the Department of Justice and the FBI to attack their political opponents over and over and over again, especially Donald Trump.
00:26:56.040 But also pro-life activists, also individual conservatives engaged in free speech.
00:27:01.280 They've engaged in the most massive effort of censorship in bed with big tech and making that case that, look, we know what a Trump presidency is like.
00:27:13.140 We've been through it.
00:27:14.200 And in almost every circumstance, the lives of Americans were better when Trump was president than they are now.
00:27:23.080 That contrast every day between now and Election Day needs to be front and center.
00:27:27.880 Senator, I got two questions I want to ask you.
00:27:30.800 One of them goes back to are the American people dumb enough or are they going to be offended by one of the things that Kamala Harris said?
00:27:38.640 She said she said she accepted the Democrats nomination on behalf of the people.
00:27:44.940 No one voted for this woman.
00:27:47.600 No one.
00:27:48.540 Be clear.
00:27:49.140 My entire career, I've only had one client, the people.
00:27:54.440 And so on behalf of the people, on behalf of every American, regardless of party, race, gender or the language your grandmother speaks,
00:28:14.660 On behalf of everyone who has ever set out on their own unlikely journey, on behalf of Americans like the people I grew up with,
00:28:32.300 people who work hard, chase their dreams and look out for one another,
00:28:38.140 Senator, on behalf of everyone whose story could only be written in the greatest nation on Earth.
00:28:50.080 I accept your nomination to be president of the United States.
00:28:56.900 Senator, great story, great words, great speech writing.
00:29:00.600 No one's just one problem.
00:29:02.160 No one voted for her.
00:29:04.360 You know, I got to say, again, I don't think that's an issue that actually is going to move a single vote today.
00:29:11.320 So the people that would be mad that no one voted for are the Democrats who voted for Joe Biden.
00:29:18.160 And other than Joseph Robinette Biden Jr., Jill Biden and Hunter Biden,
00:29:24.960 I don't know that there is a fourth Democrat in America that is mad right now.
00:29:29.180 Every one of them is thrilled and relieved that they don't have what they perceived as the millstone around their neck that was Joe Biden bringing them to a certain loss.
00:29:41.280 And they all believe they now have a real chance at victory in November.
00:29:46.040 So there's not a single voter on the Democrat side of the aisle who is angry that they are disenfranchised.
00:29:53.420 And I think anybody else, frankly, doesn't care.
00:29:57.180 So that riff, to be honest, I thought that riff was pretty effective.
00:30:02.640 I thought it was well written.
00:30:04.100 She did a good job of leaning into her record as attorney general.
00:30:08.600 You notice, by the way, there was essentially not a word about her time as senator.
00:30:12.000 I served with her in the U.S. Senate for many years.
00:30:14.500 I mean, there was nothing in there.
00:30:16.220 I was going to ask you about that.
00:30:18.240 She was the most liberal senator in the entire U.S. Senate.
00:30:21.380 She voted to the left of Bernie Sanders and to the left of Elizabeth Warren.
00:30:28.500 That is hard to do.
00:30:30.080 I served with Bernie and Elizabeth.
00:30:31.760 They're both really whacked out on the far left.
00:30:34.900 And Kamala was further left.
00:30:36.520 Remember, Kamala, as a senator, in one hearing, she compared ICE, our immigration agents, to the KKK, which was grotesque and offensive.
00:30:47.040 And all of that she just erased.
00:30:48.900 Instead, she leaned into her time.
00:30:50.680 And by the way, she largely erased her time as DA as well because her time as DA was a train wreck.
00:30:57.720 She basically leaned into her time as attorney general.
00:31:01.160 And I've got to tell you, state attorneys general, it is a great job because a state AG lets you bring cases that are really politically popular that you could lean in on.
00:31:10.520 So she could say, I fought on behalf of the elderly, on behalf of veterans.
00:31:14.940 Anyone who's been an AG could give that same litany.
00:31:17.600 But it's a pretty effective litany.
00:31:19.700 And saying, you know, she described going to court and saying Kamala Harris for the people.
00:31:24.080 I've got to say, having spent five and a half years as solicitor general of Texas, anytime I was in court and say Ted Cruz for the state of Texas, look, that would send a chill down your spine.
00:31:39.860 And I understood what she was saying when she was saying that.
00:31:42.480 And I thought rhetorically that was effective.
00:31:45.580 Now, the response goes back to what we said before.
00:31:49.700 The response is, well, what have her policies done for the people?
00:31:55.420 And they have hurt the people over and over and over again.
00:32:00.660 Her record as senator and her record as vice president has been Kamala Harris for the criminals.
00:32:08.100 Kamala Harris for the drug cartels.
00:32:11.060 Kamala Harris for the human traffickers.
00:32:13.440 Kamala Harris for the Ayatollah.
00:32:16.680 Kamala Harris for Hamas and Hezbollah because the money she sent to the Ayatollah went to Hamas and Hezbollah.
00:32:23.360 Kamala Harris for communist China.
00:32:25.640 There was virtually not a word about China in this entire speech because this administration's been in bed with China from day one.
00:32:32.620 Her record has consistently been siding with everybody except the American people.
00:32:39.520 But in order for that point to be made, it's incumbent on the Trump campaign to make that point
00:32:45.980 because the media sure as heck isn't.
00:32:47.940 As always, thank you for listening to Verdict with Senator Ted Cruz.
