00:00:00.000 This is an iHeart Podcast.
00:00:02.520 Guaranteed human.
00:00:05.280 Welcome. It is Verdict with Senator Ted Cruz, Ben Ferguson with you.
00:00:09.200 And Senator, we finally saw what the agenda of Kamala Harris is,
00:00:13.820 or maybe we didn't get to see any agenda at all from her,
00:00:17.420 in her big speech closing out the coronation of Kamala Harris.
00:00:23.780 Well, last night the DNC convention ended.
00:00:27.660 I guess we can say our long national nightmare is over.
00:00:31.160 We saw Kamala Harris's acceptance speech,
00:00:34.200 and I would say the speech was simultaneously vapid, radical,
00:00:40.320 disconnected from reality, and dangerous as hell.
00:00:44.120 We're going to break it down.
00:00:45.040 We're going to break down what her strategy was.
00:00:47.440 We're going to break down what she said,
00:00:49.200 and we're going to break down what the consequences are likely to be
00:00:52.500 from the speech last night.
00:00:54.280 You're not going to want to miss this.
00:00:55.660 Yeah, it was truly an incredible speech,
00:00:58.580 and I don't say that as a compliment, what was in it.
00:01:01.300 We're going to talk about that.
00:01:02.580 And before we get to that,
00:01:04.040 you saw the protesters that were outside of the convention,
00:01:07.520 and they were there advocating for the terrorists that attacked Israel.
00:01:12.060 It is shocking to see just how many of them were demanding
00:01:15.200 that we cut ties with Israel.
00:01:17.700 And now we are quickly approaching the one-year anniversary
00:01:20.700 of the horrific Hamas attacks on Israel,
00:01:23.780 and still the Holy Land continues to be attacked on multiple fronts.
00:01:28.980 Deadly threats are increasing in northern Israel.
00:01:31.600 There are constant rocket attacks from Hezbollah
00:01:34.020 that have been fired to Israel, causing widespread damage,
00:01:38.080 including this summer raging wildfires destroying precious farmland.
00:01:42.340 Since the war started,
00:01:44.540 our good friends at the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews
00:01:48.080 has been on the forefront in Israel,
00:01:50.160 addressing the most important needs of the most vulnerable.
00:01:53.880 That's why I'm partnering with IFCJ today.
00:01:57.200 And your life-saving donation will help provide emergency food,
00:02:01.040 as well as critical security needs,
00:02:02.780 such as flak jackets, firefighting equipment,
00:02:06.160 armored vehicles, including armored ambulances,
00:02:09.820 bomb shelters, and so much more.
00:02:12.340 We're looking for 500 listeners to join the fellowship and me
00:02:16.800 by donating $150 to meet these urgent security needs
00:02:22.140 of the people being attacked in Israel.
00:02:23.860 And thanks to a generous IFCJ supporter,
00:02:27.780 your gift will be matched, doubling your impact in the Holy Land.
00:02:32.480 To make a gift, you can call right now 888-488-IFCJ.
00:02:38.280 That's 888-488-IFCJ, or 4325.

00:03:00.240 Senator, this speech was obviously an important moment for her campaign.
00:03:07.200 It was an important week to really launch her as,
00:03:10.880 hey, I am officially the candidate.
00:03:13.680 I've got the nomination.
00:03:15.180 It is me.
00:03:16.120 Joe Biden, they got rid of him after midnight on Monday night.
00:03:19.640 On a scale of 1 to 10, what would you give her?
00:03:22.680 What grade, if you want to use that ranking system,
00:03:26.080 would you give her for this speech?
00:03:28.000 Oh, look, I think this speech was effective.
00:03:32.420 You and I predicted early on that she would have good speechwriters.
00:03:35.680 They'd write a speech.
00:03:37.260 And she would read it from the teleprompter just fine.
00:03:40.220 Look, it's been a month since she's been the presumptive nominee.
00:03:43.260 In that entire time, she's done no media interviews.
00:03:45.760 She hasn't taken questions, but she has read from the teleprompter.
00:03:48.620 And tonight, she read from the teleprompter as well.
00:03:50.460 She read effectively, but I want to break down the different elements of the speech
00:03:55.720 because I think each of the different elements I described is significant.
00:04:02.380 The first one I said is vapid.
00:04:04.440 It really was striking how little policy was in this speech.
00:04:09.400 The first half of the speech could have been given by a Democrat or a Republican.
00:04:14.520 It was utterly disconnected to any policy proposal whatsoever,
00:04:18.500 to anything that she would do as president.
00:04:20.920 So the first half was biographical.
00:04:23.640 She talked about some shocking positions, like she loved her mom,
00:04:27.480 and she loves her sister, and she likes kids.
00:04:31.140 And she talked about that we need to be aspirational,
00:04:35.820 and we need to be able to do more, and we need to have opportunity.
00:04:38.440 And it was a lot of pretty words that speechwriters write that actually said next to nothing,
00:04:46.160 that they did not say anything about what people's lives would be like if she's president.
00:04:53.540 But, you know, they sounded nice.
00:04:58.900 To someone who is generally listening, not paying that close of attention,
00:05:06.720 they were nice speechwriter lines, although it's striking, as I said,
00:05:11.140 just how many of them could have been delivered by a nominee at a Republican convention.
00:05:15.760 It reminded me of the Simpsons when Kang and Kodos are both running for president,
00:05:23.140 and they pledged to go forwards, not backwards, upwards, not downwards,
00:05:28.980 and twirling, twirling into the future.
00:05:31.500 I halfway expected her to start twirling, because those were the sort of lines that were there.
00:05:38.600 Vapid was there, but it was also at the same time radical.
00:05:41.940 Now, how can that be? Because when she got in to policy,
00:05:45.960 the policy that she laid out, every bit of it was hard left.
00:05:51.020 There was virtually zero policy in that speech designed to appeal to the middle.
00:05:57.820 So, first of all, her first major policy initiative was abortion.
00:06:01.820 And if anyone has missed the narrative, she's for it.
00:06:05.600 She's for it in all circumstances, no matter what.
00:06:08.060 There are no limitations she has ever suggested she would countenance.
00:06:12.120 And she pledged, as her first major reason to vote for her,
00:06:15.500 that she would gladly sign legislation striking down every restriction all across the country.
00:06:21.520 Now, mind you, that is a position striking down, legalizing abortion up until,
00:06:28.640 including the ninth month of pregnancy with no limits whatsoever.
00:06:32.380 However, that's a position 9% of Americans agree with.
00:06:35.800 91% of Americans do not want to see late-term abortions.
00:06:40.440 And that was where she started.
00:06:43.040 Then, from there, she went to amnesty for illegal aliens.
00:06:49.380 And she wanted a path to citizenship for every illegal alien in America.
00:06:53.820 She had a rhetorical nod to claiming she would secure the border.
00:06:57.980 But she very quickly got to where she's interested in,
00:07:01.440 which is taking every one of the 11.5 million illegal aliens that she has allowed in,
00:07:07.820 as borders are, and making them Democrat voters.
00:07:12.540 And so that was a critical part of her proposal.
00:07:16.880 And then the other major policy element she had there was when she got to the Middle East.
00:07:23.680 When she got to the Middle East, she did have a sentence or two about standing with Israel,
00:07:29.840 which got some polite applause in the room.
00:07:33.800 And then she said, we will fight for the self-determination of the Palestinian people.
00:07:40.080 And the place erupted.
00:07:41.960 It was her single biggest applause line of the night,
00:07:46.640 which gives you a sense of the priorities of the radicals there,
00:07:51.520 that nothing mattered more to them.
00:07:54.200 She did have a sentence condemning Hamas for the murder of 1,200 civilians,
00:08:00.580 although she didn't say they murdered 1,200 civilians.
00:08:03.000 But she did have a sentence condemning Hamas,
00:08:05.900 which I guess in the Democrat Party counts for some modicum of bravery.
00:08:09.360 And that, as I said, got polite applause.
00:08:13.760 But where the stadium erupted was when she said she stood with the Palestinian people.
00:08:21.500 That, again, is the radical nature of today's Democrat Party.
00:08:26.040 You know, one of the, I think, most disgusting moments of the night
00:08:29.540 was when Kamala Harris went to grandstand on how she protects,
00:08:34.820 because she's an attorney and she says her only client is the American people.
00:08:39.520 She went on a nice rant about that and how she's never had any private client.
00:08:44.280 It's just the American people.
00:08:46.100 And she basically said, vote for me because I'm the protector in chief.
00:08:50.160 I'm going to be America's lawyer.
00:08:52.640 I'm going to defend you from chaos that happens.
00:08:57.500 And you trust me as your lawyer.
00:09:00.660 And she described it this way.
00:09:03.340 Because I believe everyone has a right to safety, to dignity, and to justice.
00:09:12.240 Senator, I heard that, and she got a big applause from that line.
00:09:17.340 And I look at reality.
00:09:19.960 Look at the children that are in sex slavery right now.
00:09:24.440 Look at the children that have been trafficked and are being abused
00:09:28.720 as they are working for nothing, like we see in countries like China,
00:09:34.580 with slave labor among children.
00:09:37.020 Look at the people that have been terrorized by illegal immigrants
00:09:39.960 that have come across the border.
00:09:41.500 Jobs have been taken away.
00:09:42.900 Communities that are being attacked.
00:09:44.240 The fentanyl that's coming across the southern border.
00:09:46.820 Take your pick on those.
00:09:48.260 But when she says that everyone has this right to X, Y, and Z,
00:09:51.420 hey, she's the one that has actually done the opposite of that.
00:09:55.100 If she's been a lawyer for anybody, it's been for the cartels and the illegal immigrants.
00:09:59.540 Well, and that's the embodiment of the third characteristic of the speech that I mentioned.
00:10:05.380 Disconnected from reality.
00:10:07.480 In this speech, she leaned in heavily to being a prosecutor.
00:10:11.260 And suddenly being a prosecutor is a good thing again.
00:10:13.300 For a long time among Democrats, it was not.
00:10:16.780 But tonight, she was playing the part of prosecutor and tough guy.
00:10:22.540 And you know what was really – there were a lot of things that were bizarre about the speech.
00:10:25.520 But one of the most bizarre things, at no point in the speech did she acknowledge
00:10:31.240 that she is the sitting vice president of the United States,
00:10:35.200 that she is part of the current administration,
00:10:38.560 that she goes to work in the White House every day,
00:10:41.880 that Joe Biden, right now this instant, is the president of the United States.
00:10:45.880 And this whole speech, it was written as if she were the challenger,
00:10:51.280 as if Donald Trump was the president.
00:10:53.560 And she has no responsibility for any policies whatsoever.
00:10:58.160 You know, you think about it.
00:10:59.500 Historically, a vice president running to succeed an incumbent president
00:11:03.300 runs on, here's our record.
00:11:07.360 Here's what we accomplished.
00:11:09.320 Go back and listen to the speech again.
00:11:11.140 There's virtually nothing in the speech that says,
00:11:13.920 here's what we accomplished.
00:11:15.600 There's not a word about what we accomplished on the economy.
00:11:19.080 She didn't say anything about that.
00:11:20.880 There's certainly not a word about what she and Joe Biden accomplished on inflation
00:11:24.880 because it's been an absolute train wreck.
00:11:27.360 There's not a word about what they accomplished on the debt
00:11:29.960 because the debt has skyrocketed.
00:11:31.440 There's certainly not a word on what they accomplished on the border
00:11:34.540 because the border has been the worst illegal immigration in our nation's history.
00:11:39.320 There's not a word about what they accomplished on crime.
00:11:41.980 Even when she's beating her chest and saying she's a prosecutor,
00:11:45.460 there's not a word about this.
00:11:47.240 It is all entirely disconnected from the last four years.
00:11:52.440 And when she says that everyone has a right to safety,
00:11:57.600 I don't think there was a line in the speech that made me more angry.
00:12:01.440 Because her entire political career,
00:12:04.480 all of it, has been devoted to undermining the safety of the vulnerable.
00:12:11.100 Kamala Harris has been the border czar for the last four years.
00:12:15.680 She is responsible for every damn murderer she and Joe Biden released.
00:12:20.760 She is responsible for every rapist, every child molester, every drunk driver.
00:12:25.860 Look, the same day she was giving this speech,
00:12:30.260 Donald Trump was at the border and he was there with the parents of Rachel Morin,
00:12:35.920 the beautiful mother of five who was raped and murdered in suburban Maryland.
00:12:39.780 She was also there with Alexis Nungary, the mom of Jocelyn Nungary,
00:12:46.160 the beautiful 12-year-old girl raped and murdered in Houston.
00:12:49.780 And they shared the agony.
00:12:53.680 As you know, I've gotten to know Jocelyn's mom.
00:12:56.820 I've gotten to know Jocelyn's grandfather.
00:12:58.740 The pain, the agony.
00:13:00.100 I have sat in their living room.
00:13:03.240 Look, the worst pain anyone can endure is a parent losing a child.
00:13:09.980 And even worse than that is to lose a child in an instance where you know the utter hell
00:13:18.360 that your child endured in her last hours on Earth.
00:13:23.700 What happened to Jocelyn was sick and twisted,
00:13:27.500 and Kamala Harris took zero responsibility for the fact that it is her policies.
00:13:33.520 The Biden-Harris administration had those murderers in custody when they came from Venezuela.
00:13:39.340 There were 3,000 open beds.
00:13:44.000 They could have held them in detention.
00:13:45.660 They could have deported them, and Jocelyn would still be alive.
00:13:49.060 But instead, because Kamala Harris wanted political power, she let them go.
00:13:55.400 Those murderers came to Houston, and they raped and murdered that precious angel.
00:13:59.680 That is happening day after day after day.
00:14:02.620 And by the way, Kamala's record goes back for years on this.
00:14:06.220 It's not just open borders, which she has always supported, but it is also crime.
00:14:11.960 She has consistently stood with violent criminals in Minneapolis when Black Lives Matter and Antifa rioters were burning Minneapolis.
00:14:22.320 What did she do?
00:14:23.100 She didn't stand for the safety of the citizens of Minneapolis.
00:14:26.040 She didn't stand and defend the police whose cars were being firebombed.
00:14:30.480 She didn't stand and defend the shopkeepers who were being looted.
00:14:33.860 No.
00:14:34.520 What did she do?
00:14:35.460 She raised money to bail out of jail the violent criminals over and over and over again when Kamala has faced a choice.
00:14:44.460 Do you stand with the American people?
00:14:46.500 Do you stand with the victims of crime?
00:14:48.540 Or do you stand with the criminals?
00:14:50.360 That's her record as vice president.
00:14:58.260 That was her record as a United States senator.
00:15:01.200 And as I said, this speech was utterly disconnected from reality.
00:15:05.740 It is as if she's running as a challenger and she is treating Trump as the sitting president of the United States.
00:15:13.720 She also presented what I would refer to as the deal with the devil.
00:15:18.280 She said, and I want to play this because I think it's important for people to understand just the amount of lies in this speech when it came to the border.
00:15:26.720 She said, I know the importance of safety and security at the border.
00:15:29.700 And there was one little line in there.
00:15:31.640 And I'm sure, Senator, you heard it because you were watching this live and I was as well, where she said, and I'm quoting it because I want it to stand out to everybody when we play it.
00:15:40.060 She said, we can create an earned pathway to citizenship and secure our border.
00:15:45.820 There it is.
00:15:46.780 Let me give amnesty to 20 million or however many have gotten into this country.
00:15:51.820 And then I'll give you security.
00:15:54.680 It was only one line to explain her intent.
00:15:59.600 Here's a bunch of other words she used around it.
00:16:02.180 Listen.
00:16:02.580 And let me be clear.
00:16:04.560 And let me be clear.
00:16:06.000 Senator, after decades in law enforcement, I know the importance of safety and security, especially at our border.
00:16:16.440 Last year, Joe and I brought together Democrats and conservative Republicans to write the strongest border bill in decades.
00:16:25.580 The Border Patrol endorsed it.
00:16:27.720 But Donald Trump believes a border deal would hurt his campaign.
00:16:32.900 So he ordered his allies in Congress to kill the deal.
00:16:40.060 Well, I refuse to play politics with our security.
00:16:44.120 And here is my pledge to you.
00:16:47.840 As president, I will bring back the bipartisan border security bill that he killed and I will sign it into law.
00:16:54.940 I know, I know, I know we can live up to our proud heritage as a nation of immigrants and reform our broken immigration system.
00:17:11.380 We can create an earned pathway to citizenship and secure our border.
00:17:19.180 First thing, let's just clear up because he were in the Senate when this whole, quote, toughest bill ever bipartisan was happening.
00:17:30.180 She didn't tell you the whole truth on that, did she?
00:17:33.620 Almost every word of what she said there was deliberately false.
00:17:39.140 So, number one, this so-called border deal was written by Chuck Schumer, and it was designed to put into law Joe Biden's open border policies to continue this invasion at the border in perpetuity.
00:17:54.620 This bill is a disaster.
00:17:56.480 It codified it, wrote into law, catch and release.
00:17:59.300 That's the policy that caused this crisis that came from Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
00:18:03.200 It wrote into law that illegal immigrants, when they came here, would automatically be given work authorization and allowed to work, which continues the magnet drawing people here illegally.
00:18:13.460 It wrote into law that many illegal aliens would be given taxpayer-funded attorneys.
00:18:18.680 It wrote into law that billions of dollars would be sent to sanctuary cities and to the NGOs that are helping the drug traffickers and the human traffickers bring illegal aliens into this country.
00:18:31.000 And it normalized 5,000 illegal immigrants a day.
00:18:35.940 That's 1.8 million illegal immigrants a year, every year forever, into perpetuity.
00:18:43.100 The lead Democrat negotiator on this was Chris Murphy, one of the most partisan left-wing Democrats in the entire Senate.
00:18:51.420 Chris Murphy, when the bill was introduced, he very candidly and openly said, this bill does not close the border.
00:18:58.700 So when she says, I'm going to sign this bill and secure the border, she is lying.
00:19:04.700 She knows it doesn't secure the border.
00:19:06.500 She doesn't want it to secure the border.
00:19:08.600 She wants millions of illegal aliens to keep coming in year after year after year.
00:19:14.720 And her line that the reason it failed was because Trump politically wanted it to fail, that is utterly false.
00:19:21.320 So, Schumer and the Democrats kept the details of this bill a secret right until the very end.
00:19:27.260 When they released the bill, it collapsed within 24 hours once people read the text because the bill was a joke.
00:19:32.920 It was a disaster.
00:19:34.240 It would have made the problem worse.
00:19:37.360 She knows that, but she's playing political games.
00:19:41.600 And I'll tell you, the press is going to go along with her and repeat that lie over and over and over again.
00:19:48.500 I want to tell you about our friends at Bond Arms.
00:19:51.440 If you know me, you know I'm a staunch advocate for God-given Second Amendment rights.
00:19:55.940 Without carrying a firearm and having to use that firearm to protect myself in a shooting, I wouldn't be here right now.

00:20:06.680 I even own a gun range and a gun store to help other people be able to protect and defend themselves and their family.

00:21:38.720 Senator, let me ask you another question about her speech.
00:21:43.120 And that is, let's take a step back from what she had to say on the immigration issue and those lies.
00:21:51.100 But she had also, she said, you can trust me on foreign policy and you can trust me on the economy.
00:21:59.360 It's like she's never been elected, that she's somehow implying that she's not really in power,
00:22:05.760 that she's asking for a job when she's already the vice president of the United States of America.
00:22:10.120 I mean, I posted a couple of things about this on socialists.
00:22:14.000 And number one, there's nothing, quote, joyful.
00:22:15.900 That was a theme of the convention about paying 22% more for groceries since Kamala took office.
00:22:22.820 But that's the reality.
00:22:24.740 And she says day one, she's going to do all of these things.
00:22:29.920 Day one for Kamala Harris was January the 20th of 2021.
00:22:34.300 She created this mess and she's acting like she wasn't even a part of it.
00:22:38.340 Well, and interestingly enough, when you say that she says she's going to do all of these things,
00:22:43.400 she actually had no policy that she laid out in any of this.
00:22:49.260 So when she's talking about inflation, she says, I'm going to lower prices.
00:22:54.660 But she doesn't talk about her ridiculous policy proposals in the last couple of weeks,
00:22:59.380 her government price controls that are going to set the prices of broccoli in the grocery store.
00:23:05.380 She didn't mention that at all.
00:23:06.460 She didn't talk about her proposal to give away $25,000 to anyone who wants to buy a house,
00:23:12.380 which is a proposal that would only drive up the cost of houses by, I don't know, $25,000.
00:23:18.440 And drive up debt and drive up inflation.
00:23:22.220 She didn't talk about any of the policy proposals.
00:23:23.760 She just said, I'm going to lower the prices of everything.
00:23:26.960 She also, by the way, did not talk about all of the policies that she and Biden have put in place attacking oil and gas production in the United States,
00:23:38.180 which is a huge driver, number one, of inflation and the price of gasoline.
00:23:42.000 They caused this because they wanted it.
00:23:44.060 But number two, it's a huge driver in every other form of inflation.
00:23:47.100 She didn't mention any of that as well.
00:23:48.900 She just said, I'm going to lower your prices.
00:23:51.880 Voila, I'm going to pull out my magic wand.
00:23:53.680 I'm going to wave it in the air.
00:23:55.480 Now, on foreign policy, she said she would stand up to her enemy.
00:24:00.200 She did lean in hard on Ukraine, which that's become a virtue signal for Democrats.
00:24:06.020 Now, she didn't acknowledge that her administration's waiving the sanctions on Nord Stream 2
00:24:11.600 and giving a multibillion-dollar gift to Putin is what enabled and caused the war in Ukraine.
00:24:17.420 She didn't acknowledge that at all.
00:24:18.880 She did say she'd stand up to Iran without acknowledging that she and Joe Biden have given the Ayatollah Khamenei over $100 billion,
00:24:29.980 that they continue today.
00:24:31.980 While she's giving this speech, her administration is still not enforcing oil sanctions against Iran.
00:24:39.420 The money they are making, Iran is selling 2 million barrels a day of oil.
00:24:43.780 When she came into office, Iran was selling 300,000 barrels a day in oil.
00:24:48.300 That delta, between 300,000 a day and 2 million a day, has been over $80 billion,
00:24:54.460 and they're still allowing Iran to do it.
00:24:56.380 Iran is funding Hamas, is funding Hezbollah.
00:24:59.520 90% of Hamas's budget comes from Iran.
00:25:02.420 90% of Hezbollah's budget comes from Iran.
00:25:05.080 And she didn't acknowledge any of that.
00:25:09.560 She just said, I'm going to magically lower prices.
00:25:12.980 And as I said, the disconnected from reality part is, well, wait, you're in office now.
00:25:18.320 If there's some magic ability to lower prices, why aren't you using it today?
00:25:23.680 And, of course, there isn't.
00:25:26.360 And even more so, it is her policies that have caused this inflation, which she never took ownership of.
00:25:32.620 Look, when I mentioned this speech was radical, I want you to listen to what Chris Cuomo said last night on NewsNation.
00:25:40.380 Give a listen.
00:25:41.460 Yes, Kamala Harris talked about immigration.
00:25:44.980 But excusing the situation of the status quo as being a function of one bill not getting allowed to pass by Trump
00:25:51.840 is not going to be satisfying.
00:25:53.720 Not to independent voters, not for people who study the issue.
00:25:56.760 Not to independent voters.
00:25:58.740 And that's the big question.
00:26:00.020 Did she move the needle in this speech with independent voters?
00:26:05.320 I don't think she did, Senator.
00:26:06.980 I really don't.
00:26:08.420 Well, look, I hope you're right.
00:26:10.360 But the fourth characteristic I said was dangerous as hell.
00:26:15.140 And that worries me.
00:26:17.620 I think she read the speech just fine.
00:26:21.040 I think it was well written by a cadre of Democrat speechwriters.
00:26:26.740 And listen, she also blasted Trump.
00:26:29.520 She blasted Trump with a whole series of lies.
00:26:32.220 One of the things the Democrats have done relentlessly is going after Project 2025,
00:26:37.940 which was written by the Heritage Foundation.
00:26:40.240 And Trump has rightly said he hasn't read what they've written and he doesn't know what it is.
00:26:44.080 And it's not what he's campaigning on, which is, of course, right.
00:26:46.700 And by the way, in every campaign, there are all sorts of different think tanks on the left and right
00:26:51.600 that write what they want their candidate to do and their left wing think tanks, right wing think tanks.
00:26:57.220 That doesn't mean it's what the candidate's going to do.
00:26:59.560 But but but she deliberately went after and tarred Trump, as have the other speakers at the convention
00:27:06.000 and has had the Democrats for a long time with what she described as a really radical agenda that has the potential to be dangerous.
00:27:15.540 And I'm going to predict. Look, I think she she will get a slight a modest bump out of this.
00:27:22.960 I actually think most of the bump you get out of a convention she's already gotten because we've had effectively a month long convention for a month.
00:27:31.600 The media has been relentlessly doing a coronation of Kamala Harris, not just a coronation, a canonization.
00:27:38.960 They've been turning her into a saint. And I think this speech, although there was a lot of substance missing,
00:27:45.280 although there were radical things slipped into it, and although it was, as I said, utterly disconnected from reality.
00:27:52.720 If you didn't pay that close of attention, it sounded nice. It sounded aspirational.
00:27:59.120 She smiled a lot. She didn't say anything that if you're just listening to that sentence that sounded on its face crazy.
00:28:07.860 And my prediction is next week will be the highest numbers Kamala Harris has this entire election.
00:28:14.940 I think it will be next week. I think she's on a sugar high.
00:28:17.640 And I think we will start to see her numbers go down after next week.
00:28:21.700 But I think next week will be the high point.
00:28:24.200 And in my view, the key to this election, what what the Trump campaign needs to do every day is focus on her actual record,
00:28:33.600 focus on the fact that she is not the challenger.
00:28:36.480 She is not out of power. She is in office right now.
00:28:40.740 The problems that she's campaigning against, she caused her policies caused the chaos at the southern border.
00:28:49.940 Not only did she cause, not only was she in charge of, as the borders are, but she continues to cause them.
00:28:55.600 She doesn't change them even today.
00:28:58.000 The inflation she caused and Joe Biden caused by out of control spending and debt and by their assault on oil and gas driving up energy costs.
00:29:07.300 The Trump campaign needs to lay out the facts, lay out the record.
00:29:12.980 And on substance, I think this race, I think every day after next week, Kamala's numbers go down.
00:29:18.980 Canadian women are looking for more, more out of themselves, their businesses, their elected leaders, and the world around them.
00:29:25.840 And that's why we're thrilled to introduce the Honest Talk podcast.
00:29:29.480 I'm Jennifer Stewart.
00:29:30.740 And I'm Catherine Clark.
00:29:31.960 And in this podcast, we interview Canada's most inspiring women.
00:29:35.720 Entrepreneurs, artists, athletes, politicians, and newsmakers, all at different stages of their journey.
00:29:41.460 So if you're looking to connect, then we hope you'll join us.
00:29:44.460 Listen to the Honest Talk podcast on iHeartRadio or wherever you listen to your podcasts.
00:29:48.980 It's interesting that you said they need to lay out these facts.
00:29:52.700 And the rapid response from the Trump campaign, I think, did a pretty damn good job during the Democratic Convention laying some of this out.
00:29:59.320 Because right at the end of her speech, they sent out a picture with Kamala Harris next to Joe Biden.
00:30:07.180 And it said, Biden-Harris accomplishments.
00:30:09.300 And here it was, the bullet points.
00:30:11.040 Allowed 15 million unvetted illegals into the country.
00:30:14.300 Historic inflation crisis.
00:30:16.880 Record high gas prices.
00:30:18.280 In all 50 states.
00:30:19.620 Record high consumer debt.
00:30:21.640 Released terrorists into the country.
00:30:24.300 Ukraine.
00:30:25.120 Russia war.
00:30:26.340 Israel.
00:30:27.020 Hamas war.
00:30:28.040 Disaster withdrawal from Afghanistan.
00:30:30.580 Violent crime skyrocketing.
00:30:32.920 Tried to jail political rival in the name of democracy.
00:30:36.560 Lied to the American public about Joe's decline.
00:30:39.920 And I think we should talk about that in a second, Senator.
00:30:42.420 Declared war on American energy.
00:30:45.800 Record low test scores.
00:30:47.600 In this country right now for K-12 students.
00:30:51.700 And she was also the most unpopular vice president in U.S. history.
00:30:57.640 Now, there's a trust factor here.
00:31:00.340 And I'm not so sure that the Trump campaign has done a good enough job of talking about this issue.
00:31:06.700 And I think they should actually talk about it more, especially at the debate coming up.
00:31:10.540 Is how can we trust you when you clearly covered up the cognitive decline of the president of the United States of America?
00:31:17.660 I think that would resonate with American voters.
00:31:21.000 Can I trust a woman that clearly lied to me for three years?
00:31:25.700 Yeah, I guess I don't see it the same way you do.
00:31:29.160 I think most voters are cynical of politicians across the board.
00:31:32.980 I think they think all politicians are liars.
00:31:35.880 And so did Kamala Harris lie to the American people for four years?
00:31:40.060 Absolutely.
00:31:40.760 Did she cover up Joe Biden's mental decline?
00:31:42.940 Absolutely.
00:31:44.080 I'm not sure that changes a vote, though.
00:31:46.220 I think that's a little bit baked into the cake.
00:31:49.760 What I would like to see the conversation on, I think every election turns on the most basic question.
00:31:55.560 Are you better off than you were four years ago?
00:31:57.880 And when the Trump campaign gets distracted by issues that are not about how the American people's lives are worse off today than they were when Trump was president,
00:32:11.440 if the campaign gets distracted, it's not making progress.
00:32:15.460 I think it needs to focus every day.
00:32:17.940 And by the way, look, that set of bullet points that the campaign put out last night, that was a good set of bullet points.
00:32:25.340 That needs to be very much what Donald Trump is saying on the stump, what he's saying in interviews, what their ads are saying.
00:32:33.980 And one of the points in there that has not gotten enough attention is the plummeting test scores for kids and especially African-American kids and Hispanic kids.
00:32:44.640 And, you know, it was striking tonight at the convention earlier in the in the convention before Kamala spoke.
00:32:51.380 They had Randy Weingarten, the leader of one of the big teachers unions who advocated for shutting down schools for over a year.
00:33:01.080 Tens of millions of school kids had their school shut down for over a year because of covid.
00:33:06.340 Kamala was a vocal and vigorous advocate of that.
00:33:09.860 And it will go down, I believe, in history as one of the most catastrophic policies ever implemented that hurt tens of millions of children across this country.
00:33:20.220 I think we need to make that case that kids have been hurt by her radical policies.
00:33:25.340 And you overlay that by her radical immigration policies that are releasing violent criminals that are threatening kids.
00:33:31.780 You overlay that with her radical policies supporting defunding the police that are releasing violent criminals that are threatening our kids.
00:33:39.620 Look, much of this election is going to come down to suburban voters and suburban women who historically have voted Republican and in recent years have moved left and suburban women in recent elections have not been fans of Trump personally of his style.
00:34:04.220 However, you look at the number one issue with suburban women, it is illegal immigration and it is crime, those two together, and it goes fundamentally to the safety of their families, the safety of their kids.
00:34:20.860 And I think litigating that case, making the case that Kamala Harris has endangered your family and your children is really important.
00:34:31.180 And I also mentioned on the disconnected from reality, you know, Kamala went through this whole litany that Trump is going to lock up his opponents and wage war on you and send American troops against the American people.
00:34:47.740 And it really was a dystopian, Mad Max picture of Trump as a deranged dictator.
00:34:55.040 And listen, that's the kind of rhetoric that sells well with left-wing Democrats.
00:34:59.960 But it ignores the fact that we had four years with Donald Trump as president.
00:35:06.760 He didn't do any of that, for that matter.
00:35:09.900 The party that has done much of that has been Joe Biden and Kamala Harris that have used the Department of Justice and the FBI to attack their political opponents over and over and over again, especially Donald Trump, but also pro-life activists, also individual conservatives engaged in free speech.
00:35:28.140 They've engaged in the most massive effort of censorship in bed with big tech and making that case that, look, we know what a Trump presidency is like.
00:35:40.000 We've been through it.
00:35:41.480 And in almost every circumstance, the lives of Americans were better when Trump was president than they are now.
00:35:49.800 That contrast every day between now and Election Day needs to be front and center.
00:35:55.240 I've got two more questions I want to ask you before I do that, though.
00:35:58.060 I want to tell you about Patriot Mobile.
00:35:59.820 Americans are very tired and frustrated by giving their money to companies that actually hate their values.
00:36:06.700 Well, in the big mobile world, there's a lot of companies that hate your values, your conservative Christian values.
00:36:13.160 And thankfully, there are companies like Patriot Mobile that still believe in America and believe in our Constitution.
00:36:19.880 Now, I've been a proud partner with Patriot Mobile now for about a decade.
00:36:24.200 They've been in business for over a decade.
00:36:26.700 They found out when they were paying their bills to the big mobile companies where their money was going.
00:36:30.940 It was going to hardcore leftist causes, candidates and organizations, including those that support, advocate and pay for abortions.
00:36:40.380 That is exactly why I want you to switch to Patriot Mobile, because not only are they in the front lines fighting for First and Second Amendment rights, but they put their money where their mouth is.
00:36:50.000 They take about 5 percent of your bill every month at no extra cost to you.
00:36:54.440 And they give it back to conservative organizations that support the sanctity of life, support our military, support our first responders and our wounded warriors, support our First and our Second Amendment.
00:37:04.980 So if you're ready to take a stand with your dollars, well, then you need to switch to Patriot Mobile.
00:37:10.380 I'm going to give you a free month of service and you're going to get the same nationwide coverage as the big providers because they all now in 2024 use the same networks, the same towers.
00:37:22.220 Plus, Patriot Mobile, to give you peace of mind, they have a service coverage guarantee.
00:37:27.640 They have 100 percent U.S.-based customer service team that will find the best plans for your needs and many times save your real money.
00:37:35.660 So keep your same number, keep your phone or you can upgrade to a new one.
00:37:39.280 Go to PatriotMobile.com slash verdict, PatriotMobile.com slash verdict, or call them 972-PATRIOT.
00:37:49.060 That's 972-PATRIOT and get a free month when you use the offer code verdict.
00:37:55.460 972-PATRIOT or PatriotMobile.com slash verdict and get a free month service when you use the offer code verdict.
00:38:03.360 Senator, Senator, I got two questions I want to ask you.
00:38:07.100 One of them goes back to, are the American people dumb enough or are they going to be offended by one of the things that Kamala Harris said?
00:38:15.380 She said she accepted the Democrats' nomination on behalf of the people.
00:38:21.140 No one voted for this woman.
00:38:23.760 No one.
00:38:24.480 To be clear, my entire career, I've only had one client, the people.
00:38:34.620 And so, on behalf of the people, on behalf of every American, regardless of party, race, gender, or the language your grandmother speaks,
00:38:50.860 on behalf of my mother and everyone who has ever set out on their own unlikely journey,
00:39:02.880 on behalf of Americans like the people I grew up with,
00:39:08.500 people who work hard, chase their dreams, and look out for one another,
00:39:14.340 Senator, on behalf of everyone whose story could only be written in the greatest nation on earth,
00:39:26.280 I accept your nomination to be President of the United States.
00:39:33.080 Senator, great story, great words, great speech writing.
00:39:36.800 No one's just one problem.
00:39:38.360 No one voted for her.
00:39:40.560 You know, I got to say, again, I don't think that's an issue that actually is going to move a single vote today.
00:39:47.540 So the people that would be mad that no one voted for are the Democrats who voted for Joe Biden.
00:39:54.380 And other than Joseph Robinette Biden Jr., Jill Biden, and Hunter Biden,
00:40:01.160 I don't know that there is a fourth Democrat in America that is mad right now.
00:40:05.360 Now, every one of them is thrilled and relieved that they don't have what they perceived as the millstone around their neck
00:40:14.020 that was Joe Biden bringing them to a certain loss,
00:40:17.480 and they all believe they now have a real chance at victory in November.
00:40:22.400 So there's not a single voter on the Democrat side of the aisle who is angry that they are disenfranchised,
00:40:29.620 and I think anybody else, frankly, doesn't care.
00:40:33.380 So that riff, to be honest, I thought that riff was pretty effective.
00:40:38.840 I thought it was well written.
00:40:40.300 She did a good job of leaning into her record as Attorney General.
00:40:44.760 You notice, by the way, there was essentially not a word about her time as Senator.
00:40:48.180 I served with her in the U.S. Senate for many years.
00:40:50.680 I mean, there was nothing in there.
00:40:52.400 I was going to ask you about that.
00:40:54.400 She was the most liberal Senator in the entire U.S. Senate.
00:40:57.560 She voted to the left of Bernie Sanders and to the left of Elizabeth Warren.
00:41:04.680 That is hard to do.
00:41:06.280 I served with Bernie and Elizabeth.
00:41:07.940 They're both really whacked out on the far left, and Kamala was further left.
00:41:12.700 Remember, Kamala as a senator, in one hearing, she compared ICE, our immigration agents, to the KKK,
00:41:20.700 which was grotesque and offensive, and all of that she just erased.
00:41:25.080 Instead, she leaned into her time, and by the way, she largely erased her time as DA as well because her time as DA was a train wreck.
00:41:33.920 She basically leaned into her time as Attorney General, and I've got to tell you, State Attorneys General, it is a great job
00:41:40.900 because a state AG lets you bring cases that are really politically popular that you could lean in on so she could say,
00:41:47.460 I fought on behalf of the elderly, on behalf of veterans.
00:41:51.080 Anyone who's been an AG could give that same litany, but it's a pretty effective litany.
00:41:55.900 And saying, you know, she described going to court and saying Kamala Harris for the people.
00:42:00.260 I've got to say, having spent five and a half years as Solicitor General of Texas,
00:42:05.420 any time I was in court and say Ted Cruz for the state of Texas, look, that would send a chill down your spine.
00:42:16.140 I understood what she was saying when she was saying that, and I thought rhetorically that was effective.
00:42:21.740 Now, the response goes back to what we said before.
00:42:26.000 The response is, well, what have her policies done for the people?
00:42:31.620 And they have hurt the people over and over and over again.
00:42:36.960 Her record as senator and her record as vice president has been Kamala Harris for the criminals,
00:42:44.300 Kamala Harris for the drug cartels, Kamala Harris for the human traffickers,
00:42:49.420 Kamala Harris for the Ayatollah, Kamala Harris for Hamas and Hezbollah,
00:42:55.480 because the money she sent to the Ayatollah went to Hamas and Hezbollah.
00:42:59.540 Kamala Harris for communist China.
00:43:01.820 There was virtually not a word about China in this entire speech,
00:43:04.960 because this administration's been in bed with China from day one.
00:43:08.680 Her record has consistently been siding with everybody except the American people.
00:43:15.240 But in order for that point to be made, it's incumbent on the Trump campaign to make that point,
00:43:22.240 because the media sure as heck isn't.
00:43:24.340 Which brings me to my final question.
00:43:26.740 There is a chance we could have a October surprise on Friday.
00:43:32.260 There is reporting out there, and this is pure speculation.
00:43:35.480 I want to make that very clear, that RFK Jr. will be with Trump and could possibly endorse Donald Trump.
00:43:46.260 How big of an impact could that have on this race?
00:43:49.160 If you go back and look at history, whether it's the Green Party, whether it's Nader, whether it's Perot,
00:43:55.300 these third-party candidates can absolutely sway an election one way or the other.
00:44:00.360 Yeah, look, I don't know.
00:44:02.920 So RFK is dropping out.
00:44:05.040 That is happening at this very instant.
00:44:07.600 So he is pulling his name off of the ballot.
00:44:10.780 That's happening.
00:44:11.860 Whether or not he endorses Trump, I don't know for sure.
00:44:14.560 I find it plausible that he will.
00:44:16.920 I think he really hates Biden and Harris.
00:44:20.000 And so if he does endorse Trump, look, I think that's certainly a positive,
00:44:25.360 and it may even be a meaningful positive.
00:44:27.320 I don't know how significant that will be.
00:44:30.320 When Biden was running, there was potentially a significant share of the vote
00:44:36.500 that was disaffected Democrats who were unhappy with Joe Biden,
00:44:41.300 who recognized that he had serious mental decline,
00:44:44.460 that he wasn't up to being commander-in-chief, who were voting for RFK as a protest vote.
00:44:48.780 I think what Kamala has done is largely brought back those disaffected Democrats.
00:44:54.560 If you look across the country, we're seeing polling numbers across the country
00:44:58.740 where Democrats are up anywhere from five to eight points.
00:45:01.600 And what has happened is the Democrats had been fractured and divided,
00:45:05.900 and they've now become united.
00:45:07.240 And they're united because they have hope again,
00:45:10.100 because they're like a drowning man who's been thrown a life preserver.
00:45:14.100 So I hope RFK does endorse Trump.
00:45:17.380 I think, as I said, that's a positive.
00:45:19.960 But at this point, I'm not sure there are many RFK voters who were going to be Democrat voters.
00:45:28.800 If a few of them, but you know what?
00:45:31.140 To the extent they're RFK voters and they still show up and vote,
00:45:35.180 if they were disaffected Trump voters and they come back to Trump, that's a plus.
00:45:39.640 And so I'm glad of it.
00:45:41.120 But I don't want to overstate the consequence of it either.
00:45:44.920 Yeah, it's going to be very interesting to see what it does in the race
00:45:47.620 and at the final tally, especially in swing states,
00:45:50.200 because that's where it would matter, in theory, the most.
00:45:53.600 That's where it would matter.
