00:00:00.000 This is an iHeart Podcast.
00:00:02.600 Guaranteed human.
00:00:04.780 Welcome, it's Verdict with Ted Cruz.
00:00:06.880 Senator, you had one heck of a week in New York.
00:00:09.460 I'm not sure that they have come down from the high of seeing you there at the Yankees game.
00:00:14.880 So let's just start with that before we even get to the view and your book.
00:00:19.440 You went to the game and the world freaked out.
00:00:23.880 I had the most ridiculous fun over the last couple of days.
00:00:28.820 So it starts off, I go to game four of the ALCS.
00:00:35.820 Astros-Yankees.
00:00:37.360 I go with a great friend of mine.
00:00:39.160 We get seats right behind home plate.
00:00:43.200 Directly behind home plate.
00:00:45.260 Now, I'm a diehard Astros guy.
00:00:48.140 I grew up as a kid.
00:00:49.480 My parents, we had season tickets to the Astros when I was a kid.
00:00:53.420 At the old stadium.
00:00:54.500 At the Astrodome.
00:00:55.780 No, no, no.
00:00:56.100 We're going back, old school.
00:00:57.560 A long time ago.
00:00:59.540 So I'm behind home plate.
00:01:02.000 And listen, if you're going, of course you dress.
00:01:05.600 You and I went to game two of the ALCS together.
00:01:09.140 Oh, yeah.
00:01:09.700 Thank you, by the way, for that invite.
00:01:11.060 That was a blast.
00:01:12.060 That was awesome.
00:01:13.160 We won that.
00:01:13.880 But then again, we won game one.
00:01:15.120 We won game two.
00:01:15.920 We won game three.
00:01:16.700 So game four is the friggin' elimination game.
00:01:19.960 So I flew to New York.
00:01:21.100 I'm sitting behind home plate.
00:01:22.340 Of course, I'm wearing bright orange, my Astros shirt.
00:01:26.380 That's what you do.
00:01:26.900 Go big or go home.
00:01:27.760 Like, you either go down and you, like, root for the home team and screw them.
00:01:32.620 And so that's where I was.
00:01:34.120 And listen, I got to admit, going in, we're like, okay, Yankee Stadium.
00:01:38.660 I've never been to Yankee Stadium.
00:01:40.080 You never have.
00:01:40.840 No, never have.
00:01:41.600 And for anyone that's a baseball truist, like, Yankee Stadium is Yankee Stadium in the discussion.
00:01:46.960 It's a bucket list.
00:01:48.080 And the Yankees are a dangerous team.
00:01:49.740 I'll confess, actually, going in, I was not super optimistic.
00:01:53.160 I thought we were going to beat the Yankees, but I thought they're too good a team for us to sweep.
00:01:56.780 I thought we'd beat them in five or six.
00:01:59.120 I thought they'll pull out game four, which is okay.
00:02:02.660 But went in, and it was awesome.
00:02:09.160 It's Yankees.
00:02:09.460 So everybody in the news acted like that you walked in and you're Satan, right?
00:02:15.700 Reincarnated, you show up.
00:02:17.460 That's not actually true.
00:02:19.520 Like, it is the very definition of fake news.
00:02:23.000 So I didn't know what the reaction is.
00:02:24.860 I have to admit, I sat down with my buddy and I'm like, okay, I'm going to Yankee Stadium.
00:02:29.220 I'm celebrating what hopefully is a sweep.
00:02:32.400 Yeah.
00:02:32.940 They're going to be pissed.
00:02:34.340 And so I'm like, all right, is some guy going to, like, throw a beer on me?
00:02:38.040 Is some guy going to walk up and punch me in the face?
00:02:39.940 Like, what's going to happen?
00:02:40.580 You're prepared.
00:02:41.280 Yeah.
00:02:41.520 Like, I'm like, all right, I get it.
00:02:44.940 But I have to say I was blown away.
00:02:47.700 I probably took 150 pictures with Yankees fans who came up and, like, the degree to which, like, you have these big New Yorkers who are hugging me and, like, we took selfies the whole time.
00:03:03.600 Now, what happened?
00:03:04.460 Sixth inning, I go to the men's room.
00:03:07.040 I'm walking out and there are three guys that flip the bird at me.
00:03:09.760 And I would say in the entire course of the game, nine innings, I probably had, I don't know, 30, 40 people suggest I do something that is anatomically impossible.
00:03:22.360 And that's all right.
00:03:23.460 You're at a baseball game.
00:03:24.480 What are they going to say?
00:03:25.400 Yeah, exactly.
00:03:25.940 You know, they're going to yell, and there was one jackass, I don't even know who it was, who put this little TikTok video of him yelling and cursing at me about blah, blah, blah, I'm a leftist, I hate America, blah, blah, blah.
00:03:38.920 I didn't even know what he was saying.
00:03:40.340 He was, like, up further in the stands.
00:03:42.700 Of course, that's what the media ran with.
00:03:45.480 Well, yeah.
00:03:46.620 If it bleeds, it leads, and if it's flicking off you, it leads.
00:03:49.700 And it got front page, which still, by the way, I would have lost a bet on that.
00:03:53.120 If you would have said, Ted Cruz going to the Yankees game will get front page of the next day of the newspapers in New York, I would have been like, there's no way.
00:04:00.540 It'll be the game.
00:04:01.380 Nope, you're there.
00:04:02.540 And I got to tell you, look, I'm a happy warrior.
00:04:04.780 I'm smiling.
00:04:05.560 I'm laughing.
00:04:06.220 But every time the Astros got a damn hit, I'm standing up, waving, cheering.
00:04:11.200 I'm, like, surrounded by Yankees.
00:04:13.120 Okay, so in the seat behind me, there is this gorgeous woman in a halter top that shot.
00:04:23.400 Everybody saw it was trending on social media.
00:04:25.900 So, I mean, it was like the, I was laughing because I was watching the game at home.
00:04:30.580 My phone's blowing up.
00:04:31.720 They're like, are you at the game?
00:04:32.460 Are you at the game?
00:04:32.900 I'm like, no, I'm a commoner.
00:04:34.620 I'm back at home.
00:04:35.540 I'm watching this on TV.
00:04:37.360 And then everybody's tweeting me or texting me going, who is that sitting behind him?
00:04:41.720 Because it was like, if you're, you had to focus on the game and make sure no one took
00:04:46.280 a picture that they're like, oh, look, Ted Cruz.
00:04:48.600 So, I will say my buddy Jeff leaning next to me, he sort of leans over and tells me, okay,
00:04:53.160 she's behind you.
00:04:53.940 She's selling an NFT.
00:04:55.080 So, she had some sign and she's selling it.
00:04:57.360 And she has, to use the Monty Python phrase, she has great tracks of land.
00:05:01.780 So, he tells me this and I'm like, okay, all we need is one video of me turning around
00:05:08.440 and my eyes shifting down.
00:05:09.980 Like, they're 24 frames in a second.
00:05:11.840 Yep.
00:05:12.360 That's all you need.
00:05:13.000 For one 24th of a second, I look down and that's an image they go with.
00:05:17.400 Yeah.
00:05:17.700 And I have to admit, the whole damn game, I'm like, I'm looking forward.
00:05:21.440 Or if I turn around, my eyes are up, damn it.
00:05:24.240 You are not.
00:05:24.940 You're looking in the upper deck.
00:05:26.160 Like, I, it just, so, that was, and she was actually very nice.
00:05:30.020 We actually, she and I took a selfie.
00:05:31.360 We were one of the many people that took a selfie early on.
00:05:34.000 It was before she was wearing a jacket or something, because it was not.
00:05:36.500 When she looked normal.
00:05:37.180 There you go.
00:05:37.640 She, she, she was just.
00:05:38.600 Before she was trying to sell something.
00:05:39.540 Sort of the fan behind me until she wasn't.
00:05:42.960 All right.
00:05:43.200 Before we get into that news, I want to tell you real quick about Patriot Mobile.
00:05:47.980 Patriot Mobile is America's only Christian conservative cell phone company.
00:05:53.440 And they are a company that went, every time you use your phone, if you're with Patriot Mobile,
00:05:57.680 you're making a huge impact.
00:05:59.400 They also use the same towers that you're using right now with your cell phone.
00:06:04.600 So every time that you make a call, you can be supporting conservative causes.
00:06:10.360 Patriot Mobile donates a portion of every dollar earned to organizations that fight for causes
00:06:15.960 that you care about.
00:06:17.440 They stand for our veterans.
00:06:19.800 They stand for our first and second amendment rights.
00:06:22.300 And they also stand for the right of the unborn children in this country.
00:06:28.560 If you want to know that you're making a difference every single time that you use a phone call
00:06:33.580 and fighting for what you believe in, save money and switch to Patriot Mobile.
00:06:37.640 They are shifting their support behind conservative organizations, conservative causes,
00:06:44.320 and you can be a part of it every time you make a call.
00:06:47.800 So check them out.
00:06:48.960 PatriotMobile.com slash verdict.
00:06:51.680 That's PatriotMobile.com slash verdict.
00:06:53.740 Or you can call them 972-PATRIOT.
00:06:57.100 That's 972-PATRIOT.
00:06:59.820 Use the offer code VERDICT for free activation.
00:07:03.480 PatriotMobile.com slash verdict.
00:07:05.960 All right, so I saw a bunch of cops.
00:07:08.060 By the way, do you know who was sitting in front of me?
00:07:09.340 Who?
00:07:10.240 I saw the guy at the end of the game who was messing with you a little bit on TV in front of you
00:07:14.100 and kind of y'all were laughing.
00:07:15.280 It was pretty funny.
00:07:15.940 So the guy next to us was a Yankees fan and we were just giving each other crap the whole time.
00:07:20.220 But he was not a jerk and we bought each other drinks and we were laughing and having fun.
00:07:24.760 But it was a good time.
00:07:26.140 It was a good time.
00:07:26.560 It was a good time.
00:07:27.760 But in front of me and two seats over was Lorne Michaels.
00:07:31.880 Really?
00:07:32.340 From SNL.
00:07:33.020 I was going to say, so people that don't know Lorne Michaels, the god of SNL.
00:07:36.580 All right.
00:07:36.900 So did he ask you if you're going to host?
00:07:39.240 Because you should say yes.
00:07:40.440 All right.
00:07:40.660 So I leaned over and introduced myself and I said, Lorne, I got to tell you, I grew up watching SNL.
00:07:47.180 And he said to me, his response is, he said, so did I.
00:07:50.840 I'm like, yeah, but I was six.
00:07:52.280 Yeah.
00:07:52.740 Like, Lorne's a lot older than I am.
00:07:54.240 And I'm like, dude, I said, I probably watched 500 SNLs in my life.
00:08:00.820 Like, I literally, I love good comedy and SNL is fantastic.
00:08:05.840 And I did say, I leaned in and said, I got to tell you, you guys were funnier before you became so political.
00:08:13.280 Like, it was.
00:08:15.680 What did he say?
00:08:17.440 He just sort of frowned.
00:08:18.960 He didn't engage.
00:08:20.400 Later on, I asked him a question.
00:08:22.000 I said, all right, of all the comedians you've ever had on the show, who was the funniest?
00:08:28.320 Who did you sit back and, like, say, holy crap, that guy is a phenomenon?
00:08:32.920 And I don't want to out him with his answer because I think that's probably not right.
00:08:36.580 But I'll tell you what my answer was.
00:08:37.780 So I told him what I thought.
00:08:39.400 And I said, young Eddie Murphy, when he was 18, 19 years old, in the 70s, Eddie Murphy was, look, he's such a talent.
00:08:49.020 And I'm an old fan of Delirious and Raw and the stand-ups, which every sentence of is politically incorrect.
00:08:56.960 Anyone who knows those routines, Dexter St. Jock.
00:09:01.200 I'm not going to do any more of that because even in today's mild world, I'd probably be canceled for acknowledging that.
00:09:07.460 But young Eddie Murphy was one of the greatest comedic talents of modern day.
00:09:12.760 So you're there at the game.
00:09:14.100 A lot of people don't realize you were at the game, honestly, dumb luck, because you were on The View scheduled the next morning.
00:09:22.420 You got to fly up the night before.
00:09:24.920 Jeff suckers you into this terrible deal of good seats sitting there on TV.
00:09:29.620 Everyone that's a liberal hating on you.
00:09:31.920 Republicans loving on you.
00:09:34.320 And I just played part of Whoopi there by accident.
00:09:38.000 But you went on The View the next day, and I'm going to play that in a moment for people that are listening.
00:09:42.800 But you go up there, and this is just like the perk of the trip.
00:09:47.180 It turns into the story, and then the media comes after you.
00:09:51.520 And then you get to The View, and basically, I don't know, VAR immediately steps in and is like,
00:09:55.740 well, we at least clap when we introduced you today on this book tour event, you know, at The View.
00:10:01.200 And we're nicer in our audience than they were to you last night, which goes back to the fake news.
00:10:06.740 Because you were taking selfies with everybody.
00:10:08.840 Yeah, no, it literally, it's the front page of the New York Daily News.
00:10:12.100 It's like the press hammered me.
00:10:15.000 The Houston Chronicle back home said, you know, Bronx year.
00:10:18.020 And it's true.
00:10:18.520 A few people flipped me off.
00:10:20.180 I will tell you, when you and I were at the Astros game in Houston, there were some Yankees fans there.
00:10:24.580 Remember what I told them?
00:10:26.120 I said, listen, we're going to be polite to you.
00:10:29.240 We're going to be nice to you.
00:10:30.180 We're going to be kind to you.
00:10:31.400 And then we're going to kick your ass.
00:10:32.460 Yeah.
00:10:32.700 But we'll do it with a smile.
00:10:33.700 And they actually laughed.
00:10:35.260 And that's, I mean, I was at game six when we beat the Yankees, the ALCS, a couple years ago.
00:10:40.400 We did the same thing where we're nice to the Yankees fans, but winning is better.
00:10:44.360 All right, so The View.
00:10:45.420 Winning is better.
00:10:46.520 Always.
00:10:47.180 The View, that's why I went to New York, was to do The View.
00:10:50.960 And listen, it's not a stretch to say.
00:10:53.100 The View is not one of us, doesn't agree with us.
00:10:57.300 So we go to The View.
00:10:58.820 We know that the hosts, the ladies there, are not our friends.
00:11:02.600 They don't agree with us.
00:11:03.940 Yes.
00:11:04.480 But I'm going to go into the belly of the beast.
00:11:06.420 I'm going to go speak the truth.
00:11:08.240 And by the way, look, I've talked a lot of times about, I think, as conservatives, we spend too much time preaching to the choir.
00:11:14.460 We spend too much time talking to the 2.6 million people on Fox News.
00:11:18.560 God love the choir.
00:11:19.580 They need the love.
00:11:20.980 But we've got to talk to young people.
00:11:22.780 We've got to talk to Hispanics.
00:11:23.920 We've got to talk to African Americans.
00:11:25.340 We need to talk to suburban moms.
00:11:26.900 There are millions of people every day who listen to The View who are just listening to left-wing propaganda.
00:11:32.880 So I went on there to try to give them a moment of truth because they're getting hammered by the crazy policies from Washington.
00:11:40.160 And they're certainly not hearing about it on The View.
00:11:42.720 And so I went on there expecting some fireworks.
00:11:45.580 But as much fireworks as I was expecting, I underestimated it.
00:11:50.420 You and I had a conversation before The View.
00:11:53.140 Let's pull back the curtain on this about what to expect.
00:11:56.920 And we had people that gave us advice that have dealt with The View.
00:12:01.040 And everything that we said we thought would happen literally happened.
00:12:06.780 The audience was clearly purposely stacked, I think, against you.
00:12:10.780 Well, but beyond that.
00:12:12.260 So what happened, we get just a couple of minutes into it.
00:12:16.560 And a couple of audience members stand up and begin screaming.
00:12:21.180 And I think you've got to play it.
00:12:22.060 And we have that audio.
00:12:23.780 There's 15 seconds of screaming, by the way, for everybody before I'm going to play this.
00:12:29.100 And you're trying to stay focused.
00:12:31.200 You're trying to answer the question.
00:12:33.360 We're on live TV.
00:12:34.100 Yeah, and you did exactly what you're supposed to do.
00:12:35.920 You just keep going, powering through.
00:12:37.420 But I love how The View lost control of their own show and their own audience.
00:12:42.380 To the point where they had to reprimand their own audience.
00:12:45.280 And this is how it sounded.
00:12:46.980 In history, we've ever taken in.
00:12:49.540 The problem is we spent nearly $7 trillion.
00:12:53.560 And that's what...
00:12:54.160 We do cover climate here, guys.
00:12:55.820 We do cover climate.
00:12:56.740 Excuse me.
00:12:57.720 Ladies, ladies, excuse us.
00:13:00.340 Let us do our job.
00:13:01.660 Let us do our job.
00:13:02.960 We hear what you have to say, but you've got to go.
00:13:05.960 But you've got to go.
00:13:06.660 So did they kick them out?
00:13:07.800 Because we didn't get to see this.
00:13:09.500 They didn't go to the audience, obviously.
00:13:11.220 So they kicked them out.
00:13:12.220 It was two climate protesters.
00:13:14.900 They weren't even protesting me.
00:13:16.160 It was actually kind of funny.
00:13:17.140 They were protesting climate in general.
00:13:19.000 And they were...
00:13:19.760 And the quip, which I said at the time, which they did air, I said, it's a good thing you
00:13:23.720 guys don't have a Van Gogh.
00:13:25.140 Yeah, because now they're just trashing art all over the world.
00:13:27.260 You know, these jackasses would throw a can of soup on it.
00:13:29.500 And so they were standing there screaming about climate.
00:13:32.900 Climate, the thing that was interesting is the hosts were freaking out.
00:13:39.360 And what they told me, they said, this has never happened.
00:13:42.540 In the history of our show, we've never had anyone do this.
00:13:46.340 And I actually think it freaked them out.
00:13:48.540 So it took a while.
00:13:49.800 They're standing there screaming, we're doing the show.
00:13:52.680 The show security was not on the ball because they let them stand there and scream.
00:13:57.840 There was actually a second interruption later in the show, a couple of minutes later.
00:14:01.540 And that was towards you.
00:14:02.580 That was the F-bombs, right?
00:14:04.140 Well, so it was someone standing up.
00:14:06.160 It was some lady standing up who had this flag.
00:14:09.660 And it had a circle with an hourglass sign in it.
00:14:13.040 And I don't know, apparently it's some leftist organization.
00:14:15.500 It wasn't even anarchist.
00:14:16.800 I don't know what the damn thing means.
00:14:18.620 But she just began screaming, F-U, F-U, F-U, like at the top of her lungs.
00:14:23.280 And so they just bleeped it out.
00:14:25.420 And it went to break.
00:14:26.560 And they just, it was supposed to be initially about an eight-minute segment.
00:14:30.240 And they ended up closing it at about four because they're like, okay, we've got an audience member screaming the F-bomb on national television.
00:14:36.620 This is probably a problem.
00:14:37.900 So did they walk out on their own a quarter?
00:14:40.440 They have to get security to literally lift them and drag them out.
00:14:43.780 They didn't lift them and drag them out, but security escorted them out.
00:14:48.440 And in the commercial break, the host gave a big lecture to the audience.
00:14:52.280 Don't do this.
00:14:53.720 We don't have, then they said, we don't have a mic on the audience.
00:14:56.360 We won't air what you're saying.
00:14:57.700 So don't do this.
00:14:58.620 And nobody else did.
00:14:59.940 I loved it because I thought it was just so all-encompassing of the hatred and the bigotry towards the grand debate of ideas.
00:15:08.860 And the view claims they're about the views of Americans, right?
00:15:12.080 The views of everybody.
00:15:13.900 And that they're supposed to be this place where you have a grand debate.
00:15:15.980 They're not anymore.
00:15:16.740 And even their audience members, I think, prove that point.
00:15:19.540 Well, and look, it was striking that there were a couple of times in particular that we really got into substance.
00:15:26.420 One time was talking about election denial.
00:15:30.500 And listen, as leftists, they sort of talk the, you know, so they ask the question, you know,
00:15:35.440 will you admit right now Joe Biden was legitimately elected and his election was hunky-dory and fantastic?
00:15:41.580 And will you salute and kiss Biden's derriere?
00:15:44.700 Yeah.
00:15:45.480 And I'm like, no, you freaks.
00:15:48.040 He is the president.
00:15:49.140 I am aware of that.
00:15:49.920 And that was the best response that you could have had.
00:15:52.560 And I also pointed out, I said, listen, you guys repeatedly insist that Republicans take this pledge.
00:15:59.600 Everything was legitimate.
00:16:00.940 And I said, you're totally hypocrites because Democrats come on all the time on your damn show and attack the legitimacy of Republicans being elected.
00:16:11.240 And you not only don't disagree with them, you agree with them and embrace them.
00:16:15.300 And I think you got another clue.
00:16:16.260 I was going to say, you go back to the history here.
00:16:18.040 There was a part with Hillary Clinton and you clearly were ready.
00:16:22.220 You did your homework and you brought up that, hey, it was Hillary Clinton who went on The View and delegitimized.
00:16:31.460 And by the way, I don't know if you saw this day because you've been traveling, but Hillary Clinton actually came out today already saying that the Republicans are going to steal the midterm elections.
00:16:39.340 She is.
00:16:39.820 And came out and said, get ready for it because if they do win the House and the Senate, it's illegitimate.
00:16:46.120 No one's freaking out, by the way, and calling her out for that either.
00:16:49.680 Like, they're not doing it.
00:16:51.020 Well, I lit her up today on radio.
00:16:52.740 Well, good.
00:16:53.640 I'm glad.
00:16:54.340 Listen to Anna Navarro getting triggered when you started listing all the Democrats denying election results.
00:17:01.400 And then she tells you, and I love this because I know her well.
00:17:04.080 She says she calls you by your first name, Ted, right?
00:17:07.140 That's her, like, power play, which is classic.
00:17:09.220 Like, and Anna Navarro would not exist if it wasn't for yelling.
00:17:13.200 She got hired as being an angry woman on CNN.
00:17:16.460 Like, that's what her whole shtick was.
00:17:19.040 And then she tries to tell you, like, you should be quiet when there's, like, how many people coming after you at the same point?
00:17:23.720 Listen.
00:17:24.360 Hillary Clinton didn't say whatever she didn't say.
00:17:27.420 I'm saying to you, listen.
00:17:29.240 And she said it's sitting here, and you were fine with her saying it was illegitimate for Republicans to win.
00:17:34.140 She called Donald Trump the next morning, and she conceded the election, Ted.
00:17:37.880 Okay.
00:17:38.400 Who much took the call?
00:17:40.140 I took Stacey Abrams.
00:17:41.580 All right.
00:17:42.180 She sat there while Donald Trump was getting sworn in.
00:17:46.580 Hillary Clinton says Trump is an illegitimate president.
00:17:48.160 Hillary Clinton.
00:17:48.820 Now, you pulled this.
00:17:49.640 If people miss this, you pulled out the exact quotes on a piece of paper.
00:17:52.900 You were ready for this.
00:17:53.580 Headlines.
00:17:54.080 I had copies of the headlines of press stories.
00:17:56.480 So I'm reading press stories.
00:17:57.740 And you probably didn't see this from the view that I did, no pun intended, but watching all of their faces go to O blank moment because they realized they stepped in it, and they couldn't get out of it.
00:18:09.920 So the only option was for an end of our day, well, we need to calm down at the table.
00:18:14.260 Election is stolen from you.
00:18:15.500 Hillary Clinton in 2002.
00:18:17.500 George W. Bush was selected, not elected.
00:18:19.840 Joe Biden, Al Gore was elected president.
00:18:24.120 So Joe Biden claims George W. Bush is illegitimate.
00:18:27.180 I love it.
00:18:28.560 We don't scream at each other, right?
00:18:29.800 We don't scream at each other.
00:18:31.120 They knew they were busted.
00:18:32.560 You own them on the fact that they allowed their show to have Hillary Clinton say over and over again that the election was illegitimate.
00:18:39.140 So the wild hypocrisy.
00:18:41.340 Hillary Clinton went on the view and said Donald Trump's election was illegitimate.
00:18:45.600 They all agreed with it.
00:18:46.460 And Stacey Abrams went on their show and said that Kemp's beating her in Georgia for governor was illegitimate.
00:18:52.460 They all agreed with it.
00:18:54.360 Not only that, though, I pointed out the ridiculousness of Benny Thompson, the chairman of the kangaroo court that is the January 6th committee,
00:19:03.400 objected to the certification of a Republican president.
00:19:06.800 Jamie Raskin, the lead impeachment manager for the Democrats going after Donald Trump,
00:19:13.620 one of his very first act in Congress was to object to the certification of a Republican president.
00:19:20.480 Democrats have been doing this for over 20 years, actually longer than that.
00:19:24.960 But not only that, it wasn't just Donald Trump.
00:19:28.640 You might say, OK, Donald Trump broke their minds and so they all lost their minds.
00:19:32.400 They did this to George W. Bush.
00:19:34.460 Joe Biden claimed in 2000 Al Gore was elected president.
00:19:39.420 He said the election was illegitimate.
00:19:41.260 And so the utter hypocrisy and, you know, what Whoopi said and Anna said and all them, they said, oh, no, no, it's completely true when it's Republicans.
00:19:48.560 When it's Republicans, it's illegitimate.
00:19:51.060 If a Democrat wins, you cannot say it's illegitimate.
00:19:54.040 I mean, they demonstrated the rank hypocrisy.
00:19:57.620 And it well, and they were obsessed with January 6th.
00:20:00.640 They were trying to tie you, obviously, January 6th.
00:20:03.700 You brought up, let's be clear about violence, and that includes Antifa.
00:20:07.940 And then Whoopi actually said she doesn't know what an Antifa riot was.
00:20:13.260 Had no clue what that even means.
00:20:15.500 Listen, no, you know, here's the thing.
00:20:17.960 We may not like when Republicans win, but we don't go and we don't storm.
00:20:21.700 We don't try to change, but we'll go and we'll go and we'll go and we'll do that.
00:20:27.340 Did I miss an entire year of Antifa riots where cities across this country were burning and police cars were being fired by?
00:20:34.580 Well, yeah, I guess you did.
00:20:34.960 Your position is the left doesn't engage in violence?
00:20:37.340 Really?
00:20:37.980 The left made a career over the last year and a half, two years.
00:20:41.580 They set up their own countries.
00:20:44.360 Remember the city of Chaz that turned into the city of, what was it, Chaz?
00:20:47.540 Chaz, and it became Chop and Chad.
00:20:49.200 And then something else after that, like the police abandoned it and said we can't handle it.
00:20:53.880 So the entire reason I went on The View is that yesterday my new book came out.
00:21:01.040 The book is Justice Corrupted, How the Left Has Weaponized the Legal System.
00:21:05.140 By the way, it's shot to the top of the Amazon bestseller list.
00:21:08.680 People are pre-ordering it and buying it, but I went on The View to talk about it.
00:21:12.480 And one of the things I talk about at great length is the violence of the Antifa and Black Lives Matter riots.
00:21:21.200 Riots all over the country that burned cities, that firebombed police cars, that murdered people.
00:21:26.980 And by the way, the Democrats didn't just turn a blind eye.
00:21:31.000 They celebrated it.
00:21:32.280 Kamala Harris raised bail money to bail out of jail violent rioters destroying cities.
00:21:37.980 And, you know, it really does strike to the heart of the corrupt corporate media that Whoopi's reaction is,
00:21:46.660 I don't know what an Antifa riot is.
00:21:49.720 I mean, I want you to think of all the moms at home who are listening to The View,
00:21:55.020 who what they hear is this sanitized problem every day.
00:21:59.300 If what they're hearing is there's no such thing as an Antifa riot, it is a stunning,
00:22:05.460 there's value to going into the belly of the beast, whether it's Yankee Stadium or The View.
00:22:10.140 There's value to standing up as a happy warrior.
00:22:12.340 So I'm smiling throughout all of this.
00:22:14.280 They're losing their minds.
00:22:15.700 Their hair is on fire.
00:22:16.980 Which is when you know you're winning.
00:22:19.220 It's truth is powerful.
00:22:20.780 And you can say truth with joy.
00:22:23.520 And it is powerful.
00:22:25.780 But look, also in the book, Justice Corrupted, I talk about, I tell the inside story of January 6th.
00:22:32.780 It's actually the first book that has been written from anyone that tells the real inside story of what happens on January 6th.
00:22:39.740 I was standing on the Senate floor objecting, leading the Senate objections when January 6th unfolded.
00:22:46.280 And so I walked through in the book what happened there.
00:22:49.800 Donald Trump called me and asked me to personally argue the U.S. Supreme Court case if the court had taken the case.
00:22:56.140 And so the book, I tell that story.
00:22:58.240 I bring people inside.
00:23:00.240 And I think it's valuable to go on The View and to go in hostile environments and try to speak truth in an environment where truth is usually absent.
00:23:12.020 There's something interesting you just mentioned.
00:23:13.480 I want people to grab the book, obviously.
00:23:16.000 Pre-order it.
00:23:17.100 Grab it wherever you want to.
00:23:19.000 It's not even pre-order.
00:23:19.880 It's now on Amazon.
00:23:21.060 And by the way, it's in bookstores.
00:23:22.940 It is widely in bookstores.
00:23:25.060 I'm in the middle of the national bus tour.
00:23:27.040 We've had several people come in.
00:23:28.860 They went to the bookstore, bought the book, and I'm signing the book on the bus tour because they went and bought it and brought it to the tour.
00:23:33.660 Today I was at the airport flying here to Nashville where we are right now as we record this for the bus tour.
00:23:38.440 And it was in the airport today, which was nice to see it there.
00:23:42.120 But for people that don't understand, you were there January the 6th.
00:23:47.000 Yes.
00:23:47.260 And I think there's some people that don't understand that.
00:23:49.240 What is, do you think, the biggest lie of that day?
00:23:51.600 Because you experienced it.
00:23:53.520 You were there.
00:23:54.460 You could see it on The View.
00:23:55.500 There's an obsession.
00:23:57.000 Yes.
00:23:57.340 I would say an unhealthy obsession with January 6th.
00:23:59.700 Democrats feel like it's the only thing they have right now that's powerful going into the midterms.
00:24:04.340 And by the way, in my experience, nobody outside of the Washington Beltway or the New York media elite gives a flip about January 6th.
00:24:14.200 It's the most bizarre thing.
00:24:15.460 When you talk to reporters in Washington, it's all they ask about.
00:24:18.640 When you talk to people like The View, it's all they care about.
00:24:21.900 When you get back in Texas, or look, I'm in the middle of a 17-state bus tour.
00:24:26.420 I was in North Carolina earlier today.
00:24:28.300 I'm in Tennessee today.
00:24:29.700 I was in Ohio before that, Virginia, Maryland.
00:24:31.920 Wherever you go, nobody in real America cares a damn about this.
00:24:35.880 It is an obsession of leftists.
00:24:37.420 I would say there are two lies at the heart of the media twisting of January 6th.
00:24:45.280 One is their lie that voter fraud doesn't exist.
00:24:49.880 And anyone who says voter fraud exists is a crazy tinfoil hat wearing nutcase.
00:24:56.320 And the reality is voter fraud has been an aspect of elections from literally the very first time anyone had an election.
00:25:05.180 When the cavemen got together and voted on the Grand Poobah, somebody stuffed the damn ballot box.
00:25:12.160 That is human nature.
00:25:13.240 That's what people do.
00:25:14.980 And listen, I've spent more than 20 years fighting for election integrity, fighting against voter fraud.
00:25:23.760 I led a coalition of states in front of the U.S. Supreme Court defending photo ID laws for election because it's a powerful tool to stop voter fraud.
00:25:33.580 And we won 6-3 in an opinion that Justice John Paul Stevens, one of the noted liberals of the court, wrote, saying photo ID for elections protects the integrity of elections and prevents people from having their votes stolen.
00:25:47.380 What is weird about the world post-January 6th is the media and Democrats treat it as if anyone saying voter fraud exists is a nutcase.
00:25:55.880 They're a domestic terrorist in their minds.
00:25:57.340 It is utterly ahistorical.
00:26:00.100 And by the way, CNN, you take someone like Jake Tapper, who refers to anyone worried about voter fraud as an insurrectionist.
00:26:09.320 Yeah.
00:26:09.860 It is bizarre.
00:26:10.780 So that's one lie is the notion that voter fraud doesn't exist.
00:26:14.340 There was real and substantial evidence of voter fraud in the 2020 election.
00:26:18.240 Very disturbing.
00:26:18.920 Democrats took advantage of the COVID pandemic to loosen restrictions, to set up drop boxes that you could drop things off in the middle of the night.
00:26:27.940 States like Pennsylvania.
00:26:29.600 Pennsylvania state constitution prohibits mail-in ballots except in very limited circumstances.
00:26:35.940 Pennsylvania, they allowed universal mail-in ballots.
00:26:39.680 By the way, mail-in ballots have long been acknowledged as a source of voter fraud.
00:26:46.140 It makes it easier to engage in voter fraud.
00:26:48.320 Pennsylvania did so directly contrary to the Pennsylvania state constitution.
00:26:53.580 In the book, Justice Corrupted, I walk through these various facts.
00:26:57.940 And by the way, one of the talking points leftists use is, well, there were 60-some-odd cases against them and they all lost.
00:27:04.520 There's some truth to that.
00:27:06.320 But what I point out in the book is the vast majority of those cases were not decided on the merits.
00:27:12.180 In other words, the court never determined was there voter fraud or not.
00:27:15.980 The court threw them out on procedural grounds.
00:27:17.900 The court threw them out on standing.
00:27:19.880 The court threw them out on timing of when the case was brought.
00:27:23.020 So nobody looked to the underlying facts.
00:27:25.120 So I walked through that in great length.
00:27:27.560 But the other big lie.
00:27:29.920 So listen, on January 6th, there were some people who engaged in acts of violence.
00:27:35.500 There are some people who assaulted police officers.
00:27:38.020 My view is real simple.
00:27:39.880 If you engage in an act of violence, you should be prosecuted.
00:27:43.760 If you assault a police officer, you should go to jail a long time.
00:27:47.680 And that's true whether I agree with your politics or disagree.
00:27:51.280 If you're right-wing or left-wing or wherever your views are, you heard a cop, you're going to jail and you're going to live in a six-by-eight concrete cell for a long time.
00:28:00.920 That is rule of law and justice.
00:28:03.620 But what the Democrats and the media and the Biden DOJ have done is they've taken the violent actions of a limited number of people on that day.
00:28:13.500 And they've used it to try to slander and paint the tens of thousands of peaceful protesters.
00:28:21.160 The day after January 6th, obviously January 7th, I was in the BWI airport.
00:28:26.360 And there were dozens of little ladies who were there.
00:28:31.440 And they came up to me and they were hugging me and they were crying.
00:28:34.380 And they said, listen, I was on the mall.
00:28:37.420 I was waving flags, American flags, singing God Bless America.
00:28:41.900 They weren't going to the Capitol to invade.
00:28:44.960 And now the press is calling me a terrorist.
00:28:47.540 And they were literally hugging me and crying, why is this happening?
00:28:51.240 And what the press and the Democrats and the Biden DOJ have done is, number one, attack everyone who gauged in peaceful protest.
00:28:57.720 And you've got a First Amendment right to engage in peaceful protest.
00:29:00.420 And there were thousands of patriots who came to Washington on January 6th to speak out in support of our nation.
00:29:07.820 But they tried more broadly to paint every person who voted for Donald Trump.
00:29:13.220 I voted for Donald Trump.
00:29:14.900 As a terrorist.
00:29:15.900 If you vote for Trump, if you like Trump, you're a terrorist.
00:29:18.440 That's what they were trying to paint that picture on the view as well.
00:29:21.080 And by the way, the ridiculous Kabuki theater for four or five months after January 6th,
00:29:27.200 Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer erected fences with razor wire around the United States Capitol.
00:29:33.940 They stationed National Guardsmen who were holding machine guns with no magazines.
00:29:39.080 They had no bullets.
00:29:39.920 So they were literally scary props.
00:29:42.820 And I would go talk to them.
00:29:43.960 And actually, the red state governors brought their guardsmen home pretty quickly.
00:29:48.080 It was clear that this was pure political theater.
00:29:50.420 This was not actually responding to a real threat.
00:29:53.320 So the only guardsmen that were there were from blue states like New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Connecticut.
00:29:58.540 And I go talk to the guardsmen all the time.
00:30:01.000 And I got to tell you, almost to a person, they were pissed because they got that they were being used as props in political theater.
00:30:09.400 And by the way, these are guardsmen who have jobs, who have families, who got called up.
00:30:14.300 And they're standing there in camos holding scary looking machine guns with no bullets in them.
00:30:20.280 Party five.
00:30:20.720 In order for what Pelosi and Schumer wanted to say is every Republican in America is a dangerous terrorist and you should be scared of them.
00:30:29.040 And I got to say, those guardsmen were understandably pissed.
00:30:32.180 Why am I away from my kids to stand here as a prop?
00:30:34.760 Canadian women are looking for more.
00:30:37.940 More out of themselves, their businesses, their elected leaders, and the world around them.
00:30:42.060 And that's why we're thrilled to introduce the Honest Talk podcast.
00:30:45.780 I'm Jennifer Stewart.
00:30:46.960 And I'm Catherine Clark.
00:30:48.200 And in this podcast, we interview Canada's most inspiring women.
00:30:51.960 Entrepreneurs, artists, athletes, politicians, and newsmakers.
00:30:55.500 All at different stages of their journey.
00:30:57.700 So if you're looking to connect, then we hope you'll join us.
00:31:00.680 Listen to the Honest Talk podcast on iHeartRadio or wherever you listen to your podcasts.
00:31:06.280 There's another issue that I want to bring up before, and again, grab the book.
00:31:11.320 It's out.
00:31:12.080 Make sure you get it.
00:31:13.200 But there's another political issue that I want to bring up real quick.
00:31:16.680 And I'm sure you saw this today.
00:31:18.440 I think this is a massive victory.
00:31:21.100 The New York Supreme Court has reinstated all employees fired for being unvaccinated.
00:31:28.440 And they are ordering back pay.
00:31:31.900 The state Supreme Court found that being vaccinated does not stop the spread of COVID-19.
00:31:37.440 Let me say that again.
00:31:38.400 The state Supreme Court found that being vaccinated does not stop the spread of COVID-19.
00:31:43.580 If you don't believe me, CDC director just got COVID again, and she's double boosted, double
00:31:47.280 vaxed, I think.
00:31:48.180 I think she's had six boosters.
00:31:49.540 Is it six now?
00:31:50.260 I believe that's right.
00:31:51.200 I mean, she's got to have the most of anybody because that's her job to, you know, pimp it.
00:31:55.020 And it was just a month ago she got her last booster of the vaccine.
00:31:58.760 But when the New York Supreme Court reinstated all of these employees who were fired for not
00:32:04.140 being vaccinated, ordered the back pay, saying their rights had been violated, I think there
00:32:09.260 was a moment for so many Americans, Senator, that just said, hallelujah, finally.
00:32:14.320 Because New York City fired roughly 1,400 employees for being unvaccinated earlier this year after
00:32:21.240 the city adopted a vaccine mandate under the former mayor, Bill de Blasio.
00:32:26.000 Now, the reason why I ask you about this is there's some people saying, okay, well, what
00:32:30.040 does this mean for all of the people in the military who were put basically, their careers
00:32:36.540 stopped, they're not able to be deployed, they're not getting the jobs that they're supposed
00:32:42.220 to be having.
00:32:43.440 Is this going to then tie into that in the future?
00:32:47.200 So I hope so.
00:32:47.820 There's litigation going on all across the country.
00:32:50.140 These vaccine mandates are ridiculous.
00:32:52.820 They're illegal.
00:32:53.860 They're abusive.
00:32:54.880 They're wrong.
00:32:55.580 I've been leading the fight in the Senate against them from day one.
00:32:59.180 My view on the vaccine is simple.
00:33:00.980 If you choose to get the vaccine, that's your right.
00:33:03.020 You ought to be able to choose to do that.
00:33:04.700 And if you choose not to, that's your right.
00:33:06.680 You ought to be able to choose to do that.
00:33:08.420 And there should be no government mandate.
00:33:10.580 There should be no school forcing you to do it.
00:33:12.900 There should be no employer forcing you to do it.
00:33:15.260 You shouldn't lose your job.
00:33:16.480 You know, Joe Biden issued four different vaccine mandates as president.
00:33:21.900 One applied to active duty military.
00:33:26.180 Another applied to federal civilian employees.
00:33:29.260 Another applied to federal contractors, people who do business with the federal government.
00:33:33.020 And the fourth one applied to large employers, anyone that had 100 or more employees.
00:33:38.680 All of them, I believe, were an absolute abuse of power and were illegal.
00:33:42.160 All of them have been challenged in court.
00:33:45.180 The one that applied to private employers, 100 or more employees, has been struck down.
00:33:49.600 It went all the way up to the Supreme Court.
00:33:50.880 It was struck down.
00:33:51.620 It was illegal.
00:33:52.480 It was contrary to federal law.
00:33:53.780 So that one is not in effect.
00:33:55.820 Although even after the Court of Appeals had stayed that order, the White House press secretary stood up and said, everyone should follow it anyway.
00:34:04.140 So a court has ordered that this is illegal, but never mind what the courts say followed anyway.
00:34:09.820 And I think the White House was very cynically engaged in a game where they said, we know what we're doing is illegal.
00:34:16.780 But a bunch of people will obey our order, not knowing that it's illegal, and then it'll be too late.
00:34:23.620 They'll already obeyed us.
00:34:25.420 The other mandates are at various stages of litigation.
00:34:29.200 And I got to tell you, I've engaged in that litigation.
00:34:32.600 I've led amicus briefs.
00:34:33.880 So an amicus curiae brief is Latin for friend of the court.
00:34:39.520 And those are briefs that are written by people that are not parties to the litigation, but they come in and have views.
00:34:44.940 And I've led amicus briefs in multiple cases against vaccine mandates, defending Navy SEALs, defending servicemen and women.
00:34:52.760 Look, I've talked to Navy SEALs who spent 10, 15 years training, defending the nation, going to some of the roughest combat situations you could imagine.
00:35:02.340 And these idiots in this White House are trying to fire these Navy SEALs because they've made the decision that they don't want to get a COVID vaccine.
00:35:11.540 It's wrong.
00:35:12.180 It's immoral.
00:35:13.180 Those cases are ongoing.
00:35:14.480 But the New York decision is a big victory.
00:35:16.880 It's exactly right.
00:35:18.740 And if you can win in New York, I think there's now a feeling that you can win anywhere with this.
00:35:23.300 Look, and on the merits of it, we had a senior executive at Pfizer testifying in Europe who said,
00:35:30.060 we never tested whether the vaccine prevents the transmission of COVID.
00:35:36.500 Now, mind you, these abusive bureaucrats, and top of that list is Anthony Fauci, who I think is the most dangerous and the most harmful bureaucrat in the history of our country, which is quite a distinction.
00:35:53.640 They repeatedly told us, take the vaccine.
00:35:58.080 Take the vaccine.
00:35:58.100 It stops vaccination.
00:35:59.200 It stops transmission.
00:36:00.660 Yeah.
00:36:00.960 Well, that's an interesting theory.
00:36:02.820 You could understand how it could be true, but it would seem kind of relevant that the maker of one of the top, most predominant vaccines said,
00:36:13.820 we never even tested, we never even looked to assess whether the vaccine stops the transmission of the virus.
00:36:22.480 That is a profound indication that when Fauci and the other despots were demanding everyone must get the vaccine, regardless of what you think, because we're telling you it stops transmission,
00:36:36.040 they had zero scientific basis, zero data backing it up.
00:36:41.800 It was politics.
00:36:42.880 It wasn't science.
00:36:43.780 It wasn't medicine.
00:36:44.880 It's going to be very interesting to see how people move forward with this.
00:36:48.320 I think you, like you said, that New York Supreme Court ruling saying what they said that they were, it was an outright violation of these people's rights is huge.
00:36:57.580 And saying being vaccinated is something they should have never, they should have never been fired.
00:37:02.220 And ordering back pay is a victory for everybody's right to decide what's best for them.
00:37:08.120 And by the way, I'll tell you, so I've spent for the last several years, I've either been the chairman or the ranking member of the aviation subcommittee in the Senate Commerce Committee.
00:37:17.020 So I've had jurisdiction over all of aviation.
00:37:20.200 We had a hearing with the CEOs of the big airlines.
00:37:23.500 The airlines varied in terms of how they handled this.
00:37:26.200 They were all federal contractors.
00:37:27.480 So they were facing the Biden White House, trying to really pressure them into enforcing a vaccine mandate.
00:37:33.680 Some of the airlines did an admirable job.
00:37:35.960 Southwest Airlines, Gary Kelly stood up and said, we are not going to force anyone to get a vaccine.
00:37:40.760 They were fighting the White House.
00:37:41.940 It was hard.
00:37:43.200 But Southwest did the right thing.
00:37:44.640 Delta, by and large, did the same thing.
00:37:47.700 American did the same thing.
00:37:48.880 The one that was terrible of the major airlines was United.
00:37:52.960 And the United CEO is a big supporter of the Biden White House.
00:37:58.680 He was trying to curry favor with the Biden White House.
00:38:01.400 And so they said, we are going to mandate that our employees get the COVID vaccine.
00:38:05.820 And if you don't get the COVID vaccine, you're fired.
00:38:07.980 And there were over 2,000 United pilots, United flight attendants, ticket agent, baggage handlers that they fired.
00:38:15.900 You're not getting the vaccine.
00:38:17.540 Your job is done.
00:38:18.780 And so we had a hearing in the Senate where the United CEO, I ripped him a new one.
00:38:24.840 And I read through letters that I've gotten from United employees.
00:38:28.100 And look, Houston is a big hub for United.
00:38:30.040 So there are tens of thousands of United employees who live in Houston, my hometown, your adopted hometown.
00:38:37.360 And I read through letters of people who've spent decades with United, who these jackasses fired because they didn't comply with the mandate.
00:38:46.680 And even if, by the way, they had a medical reason they didn't get the mandate, sometimes people had other medical conditions that their doctors advised them, don't get the vaccine, didn't matter.
00:38:55.740 If they had a religious objection, didn't matter.
00:38:57.940 United just came down with a club.
00:39:00.600 And I unloaded on it, and I will tell you, that public pressure, I played a part in it, others played a part in it, caused United to change their policy and to bring those employees back.
00:39:13.020 And I fly United all the time, and it has been literally dozens if not hundreds of times I've had United employees come up to me, flight attendants, pilots, who just say thank you.
00:39:25.780 Nobody was fighting for us, thank you for standing up and fighting for us.
00:39:29.480 So it makes a difference.
00:39:31.760 When you go out and fight.
00:39:32.600 Yes.
00:39:32.860 Whether it's in New York in the stands, whether it's at The View, or whether it's with United.
00:39:37.420 Last question for you, are we going to see you on TV?
00:39:41.880 Is your buddy Jeff going to get the good tickets to be on TV again for the World Series?
00:39:46.540 That really is what we should end on today.
00:39:50.320 So look, I'm agonizing about that.
00:39:51.960 Give me the first three rows, just so you know.
00:39:54.700 I'm not trying to put pressure, but it needs to be the first three rows.
00:39:58.000 I am agonizing over that because I'm in the middle of a 17-state bus tour.
00:40:03.640 So I am right now scheduled to be all over the country trying to retake the Senate and retake the House.
00:40:09.300 But the Astros, listen, we've been in the sixth ALCS in a row.
00:40:16.600 We're in the fourth World Series out of six.
00:40:19.200 It is insane, and one thing you know, but folks at home may not know, the baseball playoffs have become a really important thing to me and in my family with my girls.
00:40:31.900 So 2017, the World Series.
00:40:34.620 I had tickets to Game 3, 4, and 5 of the World Series.
00:40:39.180 Game 3, I took my dad.
00:40:42.040 Really cool to go with your dad to the World Series.
00:40:45.360 Lifetime memory.
00:40:46.200 Yeah, as a kid, I went with my dad.
00:40:48.460 We had season tickets, so it was awesome.
00:40:52.020 Game 4, I took Heidi.
00:40:54.220 That actually was a mistake.
00:40:55.540 Heidi doesn't give a damn about sports.
00:40:57.100 She doesn't care about baseball.
00:40:58.700 She was bored out of her mind.
00:41:00.600 It was like a bad, bad mistake.
00:41:03.100 And by the way, Game 4.
00:41:05.060 All right, so I was sitting actually in seats pretty comparable to where I was at the Yankee Stadium.
00:41:08.840 It was behind home plate.
00:41:10.640 I think it was third row.
00:41:11.580 Very good friend of mine, his seats.
00:41:13.100 I arrived slightly late to the game.
00:41:16.620 I arrived in the second inning because I had a speech that I had to give north of Houston.
00:41:19.440 So I get there in the second inning, and my buddy hands me a red wine.
00:41:24.720 And I'm sitting there, and my phone lights up within minutes, including my buddy Jeff, who's texting me,
00:41:30.720 Dude, what the hell is wrong with you?
00:41:32.940 Yeah, and you're in America's baseball game.
00:41:34.780 And I turned to my friend who had invited me to sit there, and I'm like,
00:41:38.420 All right, are you actually trying to run the oppo attack ads against me?
00:41:44.460 I know how to go to a baseball game.
00:41:46.060 Give me a damn Bud Light and a hot dog.
00:41:48.140 Like, I'm not a communist.
00:41:49.860 Hashtag America.
00:41:50.880 So by the third inning, I had a Bud Light and a hot dog.
00:41:54.300 But there was one inning that was really painful.
00:41:56.840 And I asked my friend, I'm like, should I put my pinky up while I'm drinking the red wine?
00:42:00.820 It was terrible.
00:42:01.380 Yeah, I don't care if it comes out of a box or can.
00:42:03.900 If it's red wine in a baseball game, you don't drink it.
00:42:06.660 It is wrong, wrong, wrong.
00:42:07.340 Okay, so game five.
00:42:09.460 Game five, I brought my youngest daughter, Catherine.
00:42:12.640 Now, game five was on October 28th.
00:42:16.400 And I remember it because it was the day after Catherine's eighth birthday.
00:42:21.400 And she went with me.
00:42:24.500 And it's an interesting testament to the times.
00:42:27.520 So when you and I went to the baseball, right now I have a security detail that protects me.
00:42:33.840 Unfortunately, we just live in an angry time where people are not making threats.
00:42:38.100 And they make threats.
00:42:38.820 It's the way it is.
00:42:40.180 So in 2017, I didn't have a detail.
00:42:42.400 It was literally just Catherine and me.
00:42:44.040 It was daddy and daughter.
00:42:45.640 The two of us.
00:42:46.520 I had no staff.
00:42:47.280 I had no detail.
00:42:47.920 It was just the two of us.
00:42:48.760 And we sat there.
00:42:49.500 And if you remember game five of the 2017 World Series, that's the one that went until about 1.30 in the morning.
00:42:55.140 And it was up and down.
00:42:57.720 And it was dramatic.
00:42:58.960 And Catherine and I are hugging and dancing and crying and celebrating.
00:43:04.140 And we won game five.
00:43:05.820 And I told her afterwards, I said, sweetheart, you don't appreciate this now, but you will.
00:43:11.360 You will tell your grandkids you were here tonight, and you have just witnessed the greatest baseball game in the history of Houston Astros.
00:43:21.880 Like, there's never been another one like it.
00:43:23.740 There never will be since then.
00:43:25.640 So it became a thing that Catherine and I do together.
00:43:31.260 So it's my eldest daughter, Caroline.
00:43:33.460 She's not really into baseball.
00:43:34.520 She doesn't really want to go.
00:43:36.020 But Catherine, Catherine's a softball player.
00:43:37.900 She's a very good softball player.
00:43:39.560 And Catherine's how old now.
00:43:40.340 Catherine is 11.
00:43:42.480 She turns 12 on October 27th.
00:43:46.040 So in...
00:43:47.340 I was going to say, I'm thinking a World Series ticket would be a good gift.
00:43:51.320 So we have gone, for the last five years, I take Catherine to the playoffs.
00:43:59.640 And it's just become a daddy-daughter thing that we go together.
00:44:03.360 And she's such a good softball player that we'll be like, I'll try to explain, okay, what's going on?
00:44:07.980 All right, there's a drop, third strike.
00:44:09.400 And she's like, Dad, yeah, I know what that is.
00:44:11.480 Come on.
00:44:11.780 That's like, everyone knows that.
00:44:14.060 And it has become, I think, one of my favorite things in life to go with my little kooky bear,
00:44:21.220 my little Catherine, and the two of us going to baseball.
00:44:23.700 I don't know if we're going to get to this World Series because the one game I could go to is Saturday,
00:44:30.480 but Catherine is having 10 little girls, 10, 11, and 12-year-old girls spend the night at her house.
00:44:36.040 You're going to lose that battle.
00:44:37.100 Yeah.
00:44:37.280 So we may not make it to a World Series because I may be on the bus tour campaigning to retake America.
00:44:45.220 I hope we do.
00:44:46.100 I don't have a great answer to that, but I'll tell you this.
00:44:49.480 We'll keep you posted, my friends out there.
00:44:51.440 Yes.
00:44:51.540 We'll keep you posted.
00:44:52.900 And if it goes to the other, you know, there's a couple games on the road.
00:44:56.180 You could always just, you know, make it up there for those.
00:44:58.660 You know what?
00:44:59.180 I made it to Yankee Stadium.
00:45:01.420 I promise their fans will be nicer than the Yankees.
00:45:03.300 Oh, have you?
00:45:04.020 Do you know the Phillies?
00:45:05.540 I've never been to Phillies game.
00:45:07.680 I don't think that's a promise you can deliver on this.
00:45:09.120 Really?
00:45:09.440 Is it that nasty?
00:45:10.200 I know the Eagles fans, but that's a little different.
00:45:12.580 Yeah, but the Eagles, look, City of Brotherly Love.
00:45:15.120 Yeah.
00:45:16.520 Okay, it's the only stadium I know where they throw batteries at the opposing players.
00:45:22.700 Okay, valid point.
00:45:24.500 Valid point.
00:45:25.280 So we'll see.
00:45:26.560 I'm not holding my breath on going to a game in Philadelphia.
00:45:30.020 I hope we win.
00:45:32.380 I'm going to be cheering them on.
00:45:34.140 And I will say one of the greatest joys in life has been going.
00:45:40.740 And I've told Catherine, I'm like, this is, this will never happen again.
00:45:45.520 That we have a period where this team is so good for so long that we get to.
00:45:50.300 You don't take it for granted because it may not happen for 20 more years.
00:45:53.960 Welcome to baseball.
00:45:55.060 Yes.
00:45:55.280 If you don't believe me, call the Cubs.
00:45:56.780 They'll explain it all to you.
00:45:58.340 Or, you know, the Curse of the Bambino.
00:46:00.200 Yeah.
00:46:00.320 You know, I mean, how long did that last?
00:46:01.940 Exactly.
00:46:02.480 Boston, there's so many examples of this.
00:46:04.740 Senator, this is really fun.
00:46:06.320 I love that we got to pull back the curtain a little bit on The View.
00:46:09.120 The book, most importantly for people listening right now, you can grab it everywhere it's
