00:00:04.840 you an update on our health care action plan. Alberta's health care system is struggling and
00:00:09.860 we promised that help was on the way. We restructured Alberta Health Services and appointed
00:00:15.100 Dr. John Cowell as official administrator and after 90 days we're delivering results. Over the
00:00:20.420 past three months we have been rolling out our actions to improve access to health care and
00:00:25.380 address the four priority goals in the health care action plan. The new year started in a positive
00:00:31.840 direction. In January more Albertans were able to get emergency care sooner. The number of patients
00:00:38.620 waiting longer for surgery has dropped by 9.4% since November. I'm also happy to report that we are
00:00:46.280 putting more ambulances on the road and adding more frontline staff where we can. In January alone
00:00:52.520 Edmonton has seen a 92% reduction compared to January of 2022. Calgary has seen a 59% reduction
00:01:00.980 over the same time period. These early trends show we are headed in the right direction.
00:01:06.260 AHS added nearly 400 frontline and support workers since November including doctors, allied health
00:01:13.820 professionals, registered nurses and EMS staff. Alberta is on the right track to build a stronger
00:01:20.180 better, publicly funded health system that is more accountable and more responsive to patient needs.
00:01:26.640 I am honoured that Premier Smith and Minister Copping asked me last November to be involved in the
00:01:32.480 government's health care action plan and execute and oversee an immediate 90-day plan to improve
00:01:38.140 Alberta Health Services. And I am pleased to say that over the last 90 days we've made these tangible and
00:01:45.220 measurable results and have laid the groundwork for more improvements to come.
