Summary

Summaries generated with gmurro/bart-large-finetuned-filtered-spotify-podcast-summ .

Vivian Silver was a peace activist who supported the concept of Palestine in a two-state solution. She worked to bring Gazan citizens to Israeli clinics for treatment across the border, and she even organized protests against Israel for its actions in the West Bank. She was on the side of Palestinians, and in return for her goodwill, Hamas rewarded her by butchering her and violating her remains so badly it took five weeks to identify them.

00:00:00.400 So, you know, I was always on, I'm on X, I'm on Twitter, and I'm watching, I see the news stories as they come up, and here it comes, you know.
00:00:07.420 A headline about a Canadian-born peace activist, Vivian Silver, and she disappeared from an Israeli kibbutz near Gaza during the Hamas terrorist attacks of October 7th.
00:00:18.160 You know, friends and family, they held out hope she was among the hundreds of hostages taken by terrorists, and maybe she'd be released one day.
00:00:24.940 Unfortunately, those hopes were dashed, but in the evening of November 13th, CTV News released a story with this subdued headline stating,
00:00:34.260 Canadian peace activist, Vivian Silver, who went missing after the Hamas attack, has died.
00:00:40.680 That's it. That is what the headline said.
00:00:44.060 The purposeful understatement of the significance and circumstances of Silver's death enraged me and many Canadians,
00:00:51.240 and the CTV has been getting roasted, as they should, ever since.
00:00:54.280 They stubbornly left the headline intact since then, though, and they won't edit it.
00:00:59.180 Now, the way that headline was composed, it made it sound as if Silver had passed away from natural causes.
00:01:04.420 It also simply said she was missing, rather than possibly kidnapped.
00:01:09.220 You know, maybe she just went for a walk and didn't come home. 0.75
00:01:11.820 In the body of the story, though, they did say her son said she was murdered,
00:01:15.660 as if perhaps she still died another way and her son's just making stuff up.
00:01:19.440 Vivian Silver was brutally murdered by Hamas terrorists, and the headline should have reflected nothing less than that,
00:01:26.740 yet CTV deliberately tried to minimize this.
00:01:29.680 Headline writing, I mean, it's an art form.
00:01:32.000 And in the world of social media, it's more important than ever.
00:01:34.560 Headlines, they need to communicate the most important element of a story,
00:01:37.760 and they have to grab the attention of prospective readers.
00:01:40.320 The CTV headline did neither.
00:01:42.840 Legacy media has been reticent about publishing anything that might paint Hamas in a bad light lately,
00:01:48.100 for whatever reason. 0.93
00:01:49.440 Look, Hamas is a terrorist organization.
00:01:51.920 This isn't a matter of my opinion.
00:01:53.740 That's the status that was conferred upon that group by the government of Canada 20 years ago.
00:01:58.420 I mean, even if they weren't formally declared being a terrorist organization,
00:02:01.460 anybody seeing the horrific atrocities carried out by Hamas
00:02:04.560 can understand the terrorist nature of the group, or at least most people can.
00:02:08.840 Every murder carried out by Hamas is tragic, but the case of Vivian Silver, 0.92
00:02:13.740 that one holds extra significance.
00:02:15.580 You see, Silver was a peace activist who supported the concept of Palestine in a two-state solution.
00:02:21.460 She worked to bring Gazan citizens to Israeli clinics for treatment across the border,
00:02:26.140 and she even organized protests against Israel for its actions in the West Bank.
00:02:30.640 She was on the side of Palestinians.
00:02:33.380 In return for her goodwill, Hamas rewarded her by butchering her
00:02:36.700 and violating her remains so badly it took five weeks to identify them.
00:02:42.160 Semitic people attach a special sanctity to the remains of their deceased.
00:02:45.780 That's why Hamas goes out of its way to desecrate the bodies of their victims whenever possible.
00:02:50.500 So why did Hamas murder one of its allies?
00:02:53.040 Well, the answer is pretty simple.
00:02:54.500 They killed her because she was Jewish. 0.91
00:02:56.380 It's as simple as that. 0.88
00:02:57.280 She was not human in their eyes. 1.00
00:02:59.900 Their mandate is to kill every Jew in Israel, and they make no exceptions. 1.00
00:03:03.320 And again, this is an opinion. 0.99
00:03:04.440 It's right in the bloody Hamas mandate. 0.96
00:03:06.520 It's online.
00:03:07.160 You can read it for yourself. 0.99
00:03:08.660 She was a kafir who must be slaughtered, along with every other Jew, from babies to senior citizens. 1.00
00:03:14.180 The murder of Silver shines a light, though, on just how extreme Hamas is. 0.95
00:03:18.600 It shows just how insulting it was when Canada's foreign affairs minister, G.I. Melanie Jolie, vacuously said Hamas should be at the table and negotiated with.
00:03:29.040 You can't negotiate with a group that fanatical and that violent.
00:03:32.160 What common ground could possibly be reached? 0.99
00:03:34.620 You know, well, you'll only kill half the Jews? 0.99
00:03:37.200 Come on, Jolie. 0.97
00:03:38.340 Any competent minister of foreign affairs would realize this. 1.00
00:03:42.040 Silver's vicious murder drove home how idiotic Jolie's utterances were, 0.99
00:03:45.240 and Canada's subsidized legacy media never wants to rattle to the tree of the government that pays its bills. 0.99
00:03:50.340 Little wonder, some hope the killing of silver just wouldn't be noted and would soon be forgotten.
00:03:55.120 Well, we're not going to let that happen.
00:03:57.100 Legacy media has been indulging domestic fanatics when it refuses to call out Canadian peace marches,
00:04:02.380 when the organizers of the marches chant the genocidal phrase,
00:04:05.600 from the river to the sea. 0.99
00:04:07.220 And it's a statement to call for the extermination of the Jews of Israel, folks. 0.98
00:04:10.080 Even now, media's reporting on the alleged civilian casualty numbers coming from Gaza 0.98
00:04:14.680 and sourcing the Gazan Health Authority for them.
00:04:17.340 The Gazan Health Authority is run by Hamas, you guys. 0.79
00:04:20.680 Do you think an organization willing to behead and burn babies might be willing to lie on their press releases?
00:04:26.480 Legacy media still takes them at their word.
00:04:29.720 Israel's gone to great lengths to offer a reality check to media outlets in denial of the Hamas atrocities.
00:04:35.300 They've presented screenings to journalists and politicians around the world depicting Hamas terrorists
00:04:40.380 gleefully slaughtering Jewish families while bragging about their conquests. 0.99
00:04:44.800 This isn't Israeli-created footage.
00:04:47.860 This is the footage that Hamas themselves took while they rampaged.
00:04:50.820 They're proud of it.
00:04:52.000 And even with this evidence, many within the legacy media are reticent about condemning Hamas.
00:04:57.320 The CBC has banned the use of the word terrorist.
00:04:59.400 Yes, they've banned the use of the word terrorist in their reporting.
00:05:02.020 Again, despite Hamas actually being a terrorist group.
00:05:04.300 As clear a terrorist group as you will ever find.
00:05:07.680 Why would any organization try to sugarcoat that fact?
00:05:10.940 The manipulation of information by legacy media to understate the actions of Hamas
00:05:17.340 and lend credibility to the terrorist is unforgivable.
00:05:20.480 And I'm not rooting for the deaths or ends of Palestinians or Israelis.
00:05:23.640 I don't harbor that kind of hatred.
00:05:25.040 I am counting the days, though, to when legacy media dies the death it deserves.
00:05:29.980 No, not a literal death of reporters or people.
00:05:32.340 It's just an obsolete institution beholden to a government with its own agenda
00:05:37.280 that it's time that it went away. 0.99
00:05:40.320 And when you see crap like this that came out of CTV and we see the crap that comes out of CBC, 0.99
00:05:44.700 it's time for these organizations to go. 0.99
