00:00:00.000 What's up everybody? I'm James Finkbeiner, Operations Director of the Western Standard.
00:00:12.240 Now usually, I'm the one resetting your passwords and answering your questions,
00:00:16.560 but it's election season and that means all hands on deck. Last night, I snuck out from
00:00:22.000 behind the camera and channeled my inner Cory Morgan to bring our members a live stream of
00:00:26.880 Derek Sloan's announcement in Cochrane. The former Conservative Party leadership
00:00:31.440 contestant from Ontario announced that he would be running as an independent in the Alberta riding
00:00:36.240 of Airdrie Banff. The packed event at the Cochrane Curling Club featured former Reform MPs Rob Anders,
00:00:43.280 Eric Lowther, and Art Hanger. Sloan touched on everything from being ousted from the CPC,
00:00:50.080 abortion, vaccine passports, and even called for the People's Party candidate Nadine Wellwood
00:00:56.160 and Maverick Party candidate Tariq Elnega to stand down. I've cut a bit of a highlight reel of last
00:01:02.720 night's event for you and later on, I asked Sloan and Wellwood a few questions from the parking lot.
00:01:08.960 Let's take a look.
00:01:09.760 This my friend, this is Alberta!
00:01:16.720 And I didn't know Derek Sloan from anybody and yet, here was a fella standing up and every time he
00:01:24.880 spoke I thought, you know, that's resonating with me. I like what he has to say. He said, you know,
00:01:29.040 you know, when the oil patch in Alberta is booming, it's not bad for Canada, it's good for Canada,
00:01:33.840 so why are we putting roadblocks? We should make it easier. A few of us were reminiscing here just
00:01:38.800 before the event started, where the speakers came up. We were talking about the good old reform days
00:01:46.960 and they were good. That was how politics is really done. And as we organized
00:02:02.480 and we ran in that first campaign back in 1993, what happened? The progressive conservative party
00:02:12.000 party was given a gut punch and they went from a majority to two seats in the house. Two!
00:02:20.480 They couldn't believe their fortune. They were very, very upset about it. Let's put it that way.
00:02:27.680 But that is what needs to happen again today. I think
00:02:32.960 it's the conservatives that have lost their way. We know what Trudeau is all about. We know what the
00:02:45.040 NDP is all about. But it's the conservatives that need another gut punch. They have lost their way
00:02:52.560 and they need to be replaced. The unfortunate part is that there's a lot of collusion going on
00:02:59.280 in the east amongst all these parties. It happened back in 1993. They would all get together and they
00:03:09.360 would try to trap, trick, cause all kinds of grief for the reformers. And they're doing it again.
00:03:16.960 The incumbent MP out here, Blake Richards, has to go!
00:03:29.280 He has done enough damage. Folks, I would like you to welcome Mr. Garrick
00:03:40.880 Sloan MP to this stage. Listen, I believe that Canadians are ready for change.
00:03:49.120 And myself and my team have traveled to over 15 Alberta towns and cities in the last couple of weeks.
00:04:03.120 And we're seeing crowds just like this in almost every single one of them.
00:04:11.520 So we are starting a movement that's going to spread across the country.
00:04:14.640 And we're starting to spread across the country, but for the next 33 and a half days, we're going to take
00:04:18.560 a brief hiatus right here in Banff Airdrie. I'm sick of conservatives apologizing for their values.
00:04:32.960 It's okay if you apologize when you make a mistake, but you should never apologize for your core values
00:04:39.280 that you stand for.
00:04:47.760 This leadership race had, as far as we can tell, the highest entry requirements of any leadership race
00:04:53.600 in the entire world. In terms of the money that was required to get in, in terms of the time frame,
00:04:59.840 it would have been cheaper to run for President of the United States than to run for a leader of the
00:05:04.800 Conservative Party. And our message of positive, proactive, never backing down, whether it's
00:05:14.240 controversial or not controversial, struck a tone with Canadians who are sick of politically correct
00:05:20.240 leadership. They're sick of politicians telling them nothing when they speak.
00:05:26.720 Things were not going well in Ottawa. And after four or five months of attempting to play as a team member
00:05:38.400 in Ottawa, I was unceremoniously kicked out of the Conservative Party. It was ostensibly for a $131 donation
00:05:48.000 that had been made apparently by somebody who's racist. It didn't matter that we'd received 13,000
00:05:57.440 separate donations, raised nearly $1.4 million, that the Conservative Party had accepted their cut of that
00:06:06.480 $131, that they had processed it on their own website, that they had allowed this person to become a member,
00:06:14.320 that this person had voted in the leadership race, that they had examined his license, that he donated
00:06:21.600 under a name that was not known well. None of that mattered. And I was kicked out.
00:06:29.440 They have virtually assured that that riding will go to the Liberals. They put a brand new person in
00:06:36.560 after ripping the person out against the wishes of the riding. And O'Toole has said that he wants to win.
00:06:42.800 There was no stand federally against the lockdowns that destroyed thousands of businesses across
00:06:50.240 the country and right here in Alberta. There was no offering or talking about alternative treatments
00:06:58.080 for COVID that are being used all over the world. There was no stand against mandatory quarantining.
00:07:03.840 In hotels where your family doesn't know where you're going and you're being taken by people you don't know who they are.
00:07:12.880 And now they want to bring mandatory vaccines for every man, woman and soon child.
00:07:21.120 Almost worse than this, the Liberals want to censor the internet so that anyone who doesn't agree with them will be silenced.
00:07:36.800 The Liberals also want to push, well and the Conservatives frankly, shamefully, damaging climate policies that will shut Alberta down for good.
00:07:50.720 It was only a few months ago that Justin Trudeau said, oh mandatory vaccines. No, that would be divisive and harmful.
00:07:58.400 Vaccine passports would divide the country. But now that he thinks he can gain a few points
00:08:04.880 in the polls, he's not afraid to say exactly the opposite of what he said only a few months ago.
00:08:10.720 It's shameful. He's also willing to trample on just about every liberty we have, whether it's religious liberty, freedom of conscience, freedom to choose what medical treatments you want.
00:08:27.360 Just this past week, the Liberals are making this election about abortion again, which they do it every time.
00:08:34.320 And I tell the Conservatives, you have to stop running away. But they're doing it again. And now they're going so far to say that being pro-choice means that only women get choices, doctors don't.
00:08:46.240 As if a doctor should have to perform an abortion or a euthanasia if it goes against their conscience.
00:08:52.880 I don't think they're actually going to do that, but this is the lows that the Liberals will go to to foment their following and to double down on toxic policies of division.
00:09:04.320 This is the extreme to which Justin Trudeau is willing to go. And I just want to say today, mark my words, you will not get away with this, Justin Trudeau.
00:09:22.560 It is shameful. Every trick in his book is about putting Easterners against Westerners, black people against white people, men against women, indigenous against Europeans and vaccinated against unvaccinated.
00:09:46.240 This division needs to stop.
00:09:50.280 But in all of this, where were the Conservatives?
00:09:57.180 Where was Aaron O'Toole?
00:10:02.520 Albertans trusted you to stand up for them.
00:10:08.880 They trusted you to stand up to Justin Trudeau when he was dividing and conquering here in the West.
00:10:13.840 But instead, you stood silent when we had the greatest crisis in this country in peacetime.
00:10:23.460 You stood by.
00:10:25.860 You stared your MPs into silence.
00:10:28.260 There's many of them that were questioning these lockdowns.
00:10:30.660 Many of them questioning many, many things.
00:10:33.440 And yet, you forced them to be silent this whole time.
00:10:38.420 It's shameful.
00:10:39.200 And your MP in this riding, as whipped, was calling MPs behind the scenes and telling them to be quiet and telling them to vote for liberal legislation.
00:10:51.020 It's shameful.
00:10:51.740 It's shameful.
00:10:51.780 It's shameful.
00:10:51.880 The party and the leaders stood silent when tens of thousands of Canadians had their businesses closed.
00:11:05.120 While eating disorders, anxiety disorders skyrocketed, suicides, domestic violence, overdoses, nothing.
00:11:15.480 They said nothing about alternative treatments for COVID, nothing about different ways of addressing the problem.
00:11:22.180 They stood silent.
00:11:23.380 The only thing they could say was buy more vaccines, vaccinate people faster.
00:11:27.100 The silence was definite, and it came at a point in our history where we needed someone to stand.
00:11:36.640 And no one did.
00:11:39.420 They said nothing when pastors were going to jail.
00:11:46.020 They said nothing when Justin Trudeau would go to his Black Lives Matter rallies with his cabinet,
00:11:54.660 and pastors were trying to open their churches and they were going to jail.
00:11:57.560 They said nothing.
00:12:01.700 They didn't say anything about the mandatory hotel quarantining until several women got assaulted.
00:12:09.360 Do we have to be assaulted before the Conservatives will stand up for our rights in this country?
00:12:14.220 I don't trust them at all.
00:12:16.880 What about the pledge he wrote with his own hand?
00:12:19.600 He would never bring in a carbon tax.
00:12:21.000 Remember that pledge?
00:12:22.400 How long did that last?
00:12:24.560 A few months.
00:12:25.540 The leader failed to stand up for Alberta's energy independence
00:12:28.800 by being in favor of the Paris Agreement
00:12:31.060 and by being in favor of carbon taxation and other climate alarmist methods.
00:12:36.860 He also said that he could afford to lose some votes in Alberta.
00:12:44.220 I think that wish may come true.
00:12:48.400 The leader failed to stand up for Conservative values
00:12:54.860 and he even voted against a bill by Cathy Wagenthal.
00:12:59.280 It's someone in his own caucus, a private member's bill,
00:13:02.640 and it was a bill that wanted to address sex-selective abortion
00:13:05.620 when an abortion happens only because the person doesn't want that particular gender of baby.
00:13:11.560 It's something that most Canadians are actually against, about 80%, depending on what poll you're looking at.
00:13:17.840 The Liberals are once again turning this election into abortion.
00:13:21.940 It doesn't matter how many times O'Toole marches in parades
00:13:25.560 or says he's pro-choice or votes against his own members' bills.
00:13:30.860 The Liberals always campaign on controversy.
00:13:34.300 That's what they do.
00:13:35.060 They campaign on division.
00:13:38.840 That's why I've said that Conservatives must stand strong.
00:13:44.840 It's time, and I'd like to say right now,
00:13:47.600 I want to put cowardly MPs on notice.
00:13:50.820 When you take your constituents for granted,
00:14:02.040 when you care more about Ottawa than you do your own constituents,
00:14:05.800 we're going to come for you.
00:14:14.600 This will be a shot across the bow to the Conservatives
00:14:17.440 but many other people in this country.
00:14:20.820 We will target those cowardly MPs.
00:14:29.820 We will win this riding.
00:14:31.940 And we will extend this movement across the whole country.
00:14:40.600 So if you haven't gathered it already,
00:14:44.180 I would like to tell you officially
00:14:46.380 that I have decided to run in this riding,
00:14:50.120 in this election.
00:14:53.980 Listen, we've done our homework.
00:14:56.600 We have excellent support here.
00:14:58.860 And I'm telling you right now,
00:15:00.560 there is no chance that a Liberal or an NDP
00:15:03.220 is going to win this riding.
00:15:04.660 This is a two-horse race.
00:15:05.980 It's going to be plate or it's going to be me.
00:15:14.600 I'm telling you that right now.
00:15:16.040 If you like the Maverick or PPC,
00:15:20.420 God bless you and God bless both of those parties, okay?
00:15:24.260 But support them in a different riding, okay?
00:15:26.540 Because this is going to be a two-horse race.
00:15:28.780 We've done our homework, okay?
00:15:30.800 No offense, okay?
00:15:31.760 God bless both of those parties.
00:15:34.000 But just let us have this slice of the pie
00:15:36.000 because I'm telling you,
00:15:37.540 we've done our homework.
00:15:38.900 It's going to be Blake or me.
00:15:40.220 We've done our homework.
00:15:41.140 We know how this is shaping up, okay?
00:15:43.980 But don't worry.
00:15:44.720 The NDP and Liberals cannot win, okay?
00:15:47.220 We've looked at it.
00:15:48.820 There's no way, okay?
00:15:50.100 There's no way.
00:15:52.000 There's no chance.
00:15:53.580 I want every single freedom-loving Albertan
00:15:56.480 to come to this riding
00:15:58.100 and flood it with our message
00:16:00.300 because we are going to take this riding.
00:16:10.180 So join with me in these next 34 days
00:16:13.880 as we take this riding back.
00:16:16.540 It will be a litmus test
00:16:18.140 of what is to come next.
00:16:20.540 But after that,
00:16:21.640 it's all the way to Ottawa.
00:16:24.780 Thank you so much.
00:16:26.440 God bless you and God bless Alberta.
00:16:29.080 Thank you.
00:16:29.840 Thank you.
00:16:43.880 I am here with Derek Sloan,
00:16:46.740 who has just announced
00:16:48.100 that he is running as an independent
00:16:49.440 in the riding of Banff-Airdrie.
00:16:52.520 And I was just wondering,
00:16:55.100 why Alberta?
00:16:56.520 Well, we started our movement
00:16:58.700 out in Alberta.
00:16:59.540 And by that movement,
00:17:01.140 I mean the True North movement.
00:17:02.640 We have party paperwork in.
00:17:04.760 It has not been accepted in time
00:17:06.340 for this early election
00:17:08.440 that was called
00:17:09.200 out of a sense of entitlement
00:17:11.540 by Justin Trudeau.
00:17:12.760 So we decided to run
00:17:14.040 some candidates in some areas.
00:17:16.540 I felt that Alberta needed
00:17:18.400 to have one of our candidates out here.
00:17:20.680 And as the leader of this movement,
00:17:22.260 I wanted to stake my territory
00:17:24.120 in an area that is held
00:17:26.100 by the whip of the Conservative Party.
00:17:28.120 He's the one that's twisting arms
00:17:29.580 behind the scenes,
00:17:30.540 that's making all the MPs
00:17:31.900 follow O'Toole's dictates.
00:17:33.620 If anybody in Alberta
00:17:34.720 needs to be targeted,
00:17:35.860 it's this fellow.
00:17:37.160 And I also like the area,
00:17:38.520 and we have a lot of support here.
00:17:40.080 But I wanted to be sure
00:17:41.140 that my running had symbolic
00:17:43.200 overtures to it on every level.
00:17:44.960 And I think that this is
00:17:45.640 the perfect riding for that.
00:17:47.140 So this is just the start then.
00:17:48.960 Does that mean there is
00:17:49.840 going to be a party coming?
00:17:50.920 Yes, sir.
00:17:51.380 There will be a party coming soon.
00:17:53.440 In this election,
00:17:54.320 we're going to be running
00:17:55.300 technically as independents.
00:17:57.140 Whoever wins from this election
00:17:58.700 will of course join my party.
00:18:01.140 After election,
00:18:01.900 we'll continue touring
00:18:02.900 and building the movement.
00:18:04.320 I believe that this election
00:18:05.380 will end again in a minority
00:18:07.060 probably for Justin Trudeau.
00:18:08.480 And hopefully we'll have
00:18:09.140 another election very soon
00:18:10.340 when I believe more corruption
00:18:12.480 will come out in relation
00:18:13.420 to the handling of COVID
00:18:14.380 and things like this.
00:18:15.260 So I'm going to be fighting hard
00:18:17.620 in this election,
00:18:18.520 but then preparing to fight
00:18:19.900 even stronger in the election to come.
00:18:22.280 Do you have candidates
00:18:23.240 running aligned with you
00:18:24.460 in any of the other ridings?
00:18:25.860 So I will be making
00:18:27.600 more announcements soon,
00:18:28.840 but I'm not at liberty
00:18:29.520 to say anything more tonight
00:18:30.620 other than the fact
00:18:31.380 that I will be riding
00:18:32.220 in Banff Airdrie.
00:18:33.120 We can't sneak that out of you.
00:18:34.640 Are you going to promise
00:18:35.700 the Western Standard,
00:18:36.560 the scoop when you're ready?
00:18:37.720 Well, I promise to talk to you
00:18:39.220 if you reach out to me,
00:18:40.580 but I like what you guys are doing
00:18:42.200 and I will certainly,
00:18:43.220 you guys will be,
00:18:44.260 you know, on my list of people
00:18:45.700 to notify when that time comes.
00:18:48.260 Who do you think
00:18:48.880 your biggest challengers
00:18:50.040 are going to be in this riding?
00:18:51.300 Are you concerned
00:18:51.960 about the People's Party
00:18:53.200 or the Maverick Party at all?
00:18:54.560 Or you just have your sights
00:18:55.760 set on the CPC?
00:18:57.600 Well, this is going to be
00:18:59.380 a two-horse race.
00:19:00.220 It's going to be Blake Richards
00:19:01.460 and Derek Sloan.
00:19:03.200 You know, we've done our homework.
00:19:04.380 We know the support
00:19:05.760 that we have here,
00:19:06.620 you know, more or less.
00:19:07.440 Things change.
00:19:08.480 But the hope is that
00:19:10.180 for those that are supporting
00:19:11.660 the Maverick and the PPC,
00:19:13.380 God bless both of those parties
00:19:14.820 but support them
00:19:15.620 in one of the other 337 ridings
00:19:17.660 in this country.
00:19:19.020 This is a riding
00:19:20.740 that symbolically for me to win
00:19:22.520 is good for any of us.
00:19:24.020 It shows that the Conservatives
00:19:25.220 are, you know, pregnable
00:19:28.320 and that it's symbolic
00:19:30.320 for all three of, you know,
00:19:31.920 myself and the other two parties.
00:19:33.180 So I just ask them
00:19:34.620 to stand down
00:19:35.500 in whatever way they can
00:19:36.460 and I'd be happy to
00:19:37.520 maybe help them
00:19:38.460 in some other riding.
00:19:39.720 But this is a riding
00:19:40.780 that only I can win
00:19:41.880 and we know that
00:19:42.840 based on the support levels
00:19:44.000 that we've seen.
00:19:44.940 So a PPC or Maverick candidate
00:19:46.420 is just going to detract
00:19:47.720 from my potential
00:19:49.260 to win against Blake.
00:19:50.660 So I'm glad what they're doing
00:19:52.960 in other ridings
00:19:53.780 but, you know,
00:19:54.640 let me have a run
00:19:55.680 at Blake here.
00:19:56.640 Let me settle this
00:19:57.700 once and for all
00:19:58.460 and it'll be good
00:19:59.860 for all of us.
00:20:00.400 What kind of events
00:20:01.800 do you have coming up
00:20:02.680 that the Western Standard
00:20:03.600 members might be interested in?
00:20:05.120 Well, so right now
00:20:05.800 we're not doing
00:20:06.360 our Alberta tour anymore.
00:20:08.660 That's on hold.
00:20:09.380 I'll be only in this riding.
00:20:11.120 I would say
00:20:11.760 look at my Facebook page,
00:20:13.260 go to my website,
00:20:14.220 DerekSloan.ca,
00:20:15.220 sign up for my emails
00:20:16.200 and you'll be kept
00:20:17.240 in the loop
00:20:17.620 for everything that I'm doing.
00:20:18.960 Even more than that,
00:20:20.160 volunteer.
00:20:21.360 Freedom-loving Albertans,
00:20:22.600 come down to Banff Arjury.
00:20:24.060 Let's show the establishment
00:20:25.140 political elite
00:20:26.340 in this country
00:20:27.020 what we can do.
00:20:28.080 Thank you so much.
00:20:29.360 Awesome.
00:20:29.920 Well, you know what?
00:20:30.560 I really appreciate you
00:20:31.520 taking the time
00:20:32.140 to talk to us.
00:20:34.080 I guess you just said
00:20:35.160 what your website is
00:20:36.600 but is there any other places
00:20:37.980 that people can find
00:20:38.720 information on you?
00:20:39.640 So I am on Twitter.
00:20:40.640 I am on Facebook.
00:20:41.660 The best thing is
00:20:42.360 to sign up for my emails
00:20:43.500 because you will get
00:20:44.680 all of the latest
00:20:45.460 breaking news
00:20:46.100 directly from me.
00:20:47.900 Awesome.
00:20:48.640 Well, I am here
00:20:49.500 with Derek Sloan
00:20:50.340 and thank you very much.
00:20:51.680 We appreciate it.
00:20:52.920 We'll hope we'll chat soon.
00:20:53.940 Thank you.
00:20:54.480 Thank you.
00:20:55.220 All right.
00:20:55.760 So I am here
00:20:56.620 with Nadine Wellwood
00:20:57.520 and we just finished
00:20:59.060 watching Derek Sloan's
00:21:00.780 announcement
00:21:02.400 that he is going
00:21:03.940 to be running
00:21:04.380 as an independent
00:21:05.140 in the riding
00:21:06.060 for Banff Arjury
00:21:06.920 and Nadine's running
00:21:08.900 with the PPC
00:21:09.600 and I was just wondering
00:21:10.600 what are your thoughts
00:21:11.560 on Derek running
00:21:12.240 in your riding?
00:21:14.040 Well, let's start with
00:21:15.160 I didn't actually watch
00:21:16.460 Derek Sloan
00:21:17.340 although I was getting
00:21:18.380 the play-by-play
00:21:19.340 via text
00:21:20.220 and supporters.
00:21:21.900 I was actually walking
00:21:23.400 my dog
00:21:24.500 because I live here.
00:21:26.900 Imagine that.
00:21:28.460 We have an Ontario politician
00:21:30.840 that thinks that he can
00:21:32.160 parachute his way
00:21:33.500 into a rural riding
00:21:35.440 in Alberta
00:21:36.060 and steal
00:21:37.340 an Albertan seat.
00:21:39.160 He's got another
00:21:40.040 thing coming.
00:21:41.500 So is Derek running?
00:21:43.280 Is that going to change
00:21:44.340 how you do your campaign
00:21:45.640 or are you going to keep
00:21:46.720 the course that you're
00:21:47.840 already going with?
00:21:48.560 You know what?
00:21:49.280 Thank you, Derek Sloan
00:21:50.060 because I think he's going
00:21:51.000 to bring more attention
00:21:51.820 press-wise to this riding
00:21:53.380 and that will bring
00:21:54.460 more press and attention
00:21:55.520 to the real issues
00:21:56.620 that are going on
00:21:57.300 in this country
00:21:57.900 and you know
00:21:59.840 Derek Sloan
00:22:00.780 has made a commitment
00:22:01.480 to be here for 33 days.
00:22:04.120 33 days.
00:22:05.180 He's got the support
00:22:05.940 of a couple of washed-up
00:22:07.220 reform party politicians
00:22:09.740 and he thinks
00:22:11.540 he's going to win
00:22:12.080 this riding.
00:22:13.040 Absolutely not going to happen.
00:22:14.720 Albertans are tired
00:22:15.840 of Ottawa
00:22:16.720 and we need less
00:22:18.280 Ottawa
00:22:18.740 in this province
00:22:19.940 and especially
00:22:20.740 in this riding.
00:22:22.660 So the last campaign
00:22:24.360 you did fairly well
00:22:25.440 against the CPC candidate
00:22:27.520 and now we're looking
00:22:30.020 at another
00:22:31.000 I guess popular
00:22:33.120 former CPC candidate
00:22:35.520 former CPC leadership
00:22:37.680 candidate coming in.
00:22:39.500 Do you see any sort
00:22:41.420 of vote split happening
00:22:42.580 and do you think
00:22:43.480 that vote split
00:22:44.020 would happen in your favour
00:22:45.080 or do you think
00:22:45.740 a Liberal could end up
00:22:46.680 sneaking past
00:22:48.020 the group of Conservatives?
00:22:50.000 I don't think
00:22:50.780 we can see
00:22:51.680 a Liberal
00:22:53.080 or an NDP
00:22:53.900 sneak into this riding.
00:22:55.220 I think the riding
00:22:55.740 has a very, very strong
00:22:57.120 Conservative base.
00:22:59.240 Splitting the vote
00:22:59.940 conservatively
00:23:00.620 I don't think
00:23:01.080 is a bad thing.
00:23:01.720 I think that's a good thing.
00:23:02.960 Blake has got
00:23:03.600 some competition.
00:23:05.180 We did
00:23:05.760 and Blake I think
00:23:06.940 will admit
00:23:07.580 we did a good campaign
00:23:08.920 the last time around
00:23:09.980 and without the fear
00:23:11.860 of an anti-Trudeau vote
00:23:14.780 I think last time
00:23:15.800 we would have done
00:23:16.320 far better.
00:23:17.040 I've already got
00:23:17.720 far more support
00:23:18.620 I think this time around
00:23:20.060 because people know
00:23:21.220 Erin O'Toole
00:23:21.880 is not going to win.
00:23:23.600 Justin Trudeau
00:23:24.180 is going to get in
00:23:24.740 so this time
00:23:25.260 they're free to vote
00:23:26.160 for what they want.
00:23:27.540 And Albertans
00:23:28.060 are sick and tired
00:23:28.840 of being told
00:23:29.900 from Ottawa
00:23:31.780 what we're going to do
00:23:33.060 and they're tired
00:23:34.000 of no opposition.
00:23:36.120 There has been
00:23:36.620 no opposition
00:23:37.580 from the Conservative Party
00:23:38.640 of Canada.
00:23:39.440 They have folded
00:23:40.240 on carbon tax
00:23:41.740 they have folded
00:23:42.360 on everything
00:23:43.000 that has mattered
00:23:43.860 to Albertans
00:23:44.660 and they see it.
00:23:46.320 They see it.
00:23:47.260 Blake has lost
00:23:47.880 a lot of support
00:23:48.580 in this riding
00:23:49.180 and I'm full steam ahead.
00:23:52.080 I'm more charged
00:23:53.740 and ready to go
00:23:54.440 now than ever.
00:23:56.140 Awesome.
00:23:56.880 So I think
00:23:58.740 a lot of people
00:23:59.400 are going to find
00:23:59.960 that Derek Sloan
00:24:00.680 seems to be
00:24:01.240 a one issue candidate.
00:24:04.000 How do you see
00:24:05.900 the issues
00:24:06.460 in this riding
00:24:07.460 for you?
00:24:08.720 So with Derek Sloan
00:24:10.100 from what I've heard
00:24:11.300 of him speak
00:24:12.120 he ran a leadership
00:24:14.000 campaign for the
00:24:14.900 Conservative Party
00:24:15.600 of Canada
00:24:16.120 basically on
00:24:17.220 Maxime Bernier's
00:24:18.340 platform.
00:24:19.880 He has had
00:24:20.500 no original thought
00:24:21.960 there's nothing new
00:24:23.720 and he is
00:24:24.980 a one trick pony.
00:24:26.260 Everything for him
00:24:26.960 is going to be
00:24:27.540 about abortion
00:24:28.420 and social
00:24:30.180 conservative issues.
00:24:32.100 That's not
00:24:34.060 the key issues
00:24:35.140 in this riding
00:24:35.880 right now.
00:24:36.420 I think fundamentally
00:24:37.560 my campaign
00:24:39.220 is going to focus
00:24:39.940 on fundamental
00:24:40.640 rights and freedoms
00:24:41.560 which are being
00:24:42.520 attacked.
00:24:43.140 I mean you're
00:24:43.480 in the press.
00:24:44.660 Censorship,
00:24:45.360 oppression.
00:24:46.080 If we lose
00:24:47.060 our right,
00:24:47.860 our ability
00:24:48.420 to freely openly
00:24:49.520 debate ideas
00:24:50.680 to our own ability
00:24:51.880 to have our own
00:24:52.580 thoughts,
00:24:54.060 I'm going,
00:24:54.680 we are not living
00:24:55.560 in a free society
00:24:56.360 anymore.
00:24:57.000 That I think
00:24:57.720 is the number one
00:24:58.540 issue that is
00:24:59.200 on the minds
00:24:59.660 of so many people.
00:25:00.580 You've got the
00:25:00.940 liberals who are
00:25:01.440 trying to force
00:25:02.480 individuals to
00:25:04.080 take medical
00:25:05.860 intervention that
00:25:07.040 they don't want
00:25:08.220 and that's an issue
00:25:10.060 and it's not
00:25:11.000 about the vaccine.
00:25:13.000 It's about our
00:25:14.160 charter of rights
00:25:14.980 and freedoms
00:25:15.400 which were put
00:25:16.060 into place to
00:25:17.020 protect us in
00:25:18.020 times of crisis.
00:25:19.640 So we had a
00:25:20.460 principle,
00:25:21.120 we had a foundation
00:25:22.000 to come back on
00:25:23.540 with calm heads
00:25:25.080 to say this is
00:25:26.780 what we believe in
00:25:27.700 and that's freedom.
00:25:28.780 And then fiscal
00:25:29.880 responsibility,
00:25:31.200 you know,
00:25:31.520 that's a huge one
00:25:32.960 here in this riding.
00:25:34.120 People are tired
00:25:34.980 of the government
00:25:35.720 spending.
00:25:36.500 We need smaller
00:25:37.220 government,
00:25:37.960 we need government
00:25:38.500 to get out of
00:25:39.460 Albertans' way.
00:25:40.300 Please,
00:25:40.740 just get out of
00:25:41.500 our way.
00:25:42.280 We know what we
00:25:42.960 need to do to
00:25:43.500 recover.
00:25:44.640 Absolutely.
00:25:45.340 And it's not a
00:25:45.880 she recovery either.
00:25:47.520 It's a recovery.
00:25:48.360 What an insult to
00:25:49.240 women when Justin
00:25:50.420 Trudeau came out
00:25:51.160 with his she
00:25:52.560 session and she,
00:25:54.000 I,
00:25:54.480 as a chartered
00:25:55.160 investment manager,
00:25:56.460 I just sat back
00:25:57.460 and went,
00:25:57.840 who takes this
00:26:00.240 man seriously?
00:26:02.320 And no opposition.
00:26:05.680 So where,
00:26:06.860 where does your
00:26:07.640 campaign go from
00:26:08.480 here now?
00:26:08.940 What do you have
00:26:09.480 planned?
00:26:09.760 What's around the
00:26:10.300 corner for you?
00:26:11.140 Well,
00:26:11.720 interestingly enough,
00:26:12.760 there is going to
00:26:13.700 be in Jensen Park
00:26:15.640 on Saturday,
00:26:18.560 a celebration of
00:26:19.960 the Charter of
00:26:20.920 Rights and
00:26:21.700 Freedoms.
00:26:22.740 How timely is
00:26:23.720 that?
00:26:24.520 And I will be
00:26:25.740 there to meet
00:26:26.620 and greet anybody
00:26:27.440 who wishes to
00:26:28.140 speak with me.
00:26:29.180 We also have some
00:26:30.200 events here on
00:26:30.980 Saturday in
00:26:32.020 Cochrane.
00:26:32.920 We have our fair,
00:26:34.100 we have our barn
00:26:35.360 dance and the
00:26:36.560 bull riding,
00:26:37.720 lots of activities.
00:26:38.860 I will be out and
00:26:39.480 about.
00:26:40.260 And of course,
00:26:40.760 we're full steam ahead.
00:26:41.800 As you can see,
00:26:42.500 I was fully prepared
00:26:43.680 for this today.
00:26:46.740 Fully prepared.
00:26:47.780 We knew this was
00:26:48.480 coming.
00:26:48.840 We had a press
00:26:49.380 release.
00:26:49.740 As soon as I heard,
00:26:51.220 yep,
00:26:51.800 he's running.
00:26:53.200 Saw his poster,
00:26:54.220 Banff Airdrie.
00:26:55.120 It was hit play.
00:26:56.960 So we're going full
00:26:58.300 steam ahead.
00:26:58.760 There'll be lots of
00:26:59.320 door knocking.
00:26:59.960 We've got our
00:27:00.300 rack cards.
00:27:01.160 We're organized.
00:27:01.940 We've got our
00:27:02.360 signs out.
00:27:03.080 Most people called
00:27:03.740 me and went,
00:27:04.300 good job on the
00:27:04.960 signs.
00:27:06.700 We're ready to go.
00:27:08.520 Yeah,
00:27:08.700 there's absolutely a
00:27:09.800 ton of them coming
00:27:10.660 in here.
00:27:11.900 So if the Western
00:27:13.320 Standard members are
00:27:14.220 interested in learning
00:27:15.020 more about you,
00:27:15.800 where can they find
00:27:16.560 your information?
00:27:18.100 NadineWilwood.ca
00:27:19.300 is my website that
00:27:20.460 will take you to my
00:27:21.440 Facebook, my Twitter,
00:27:22.840 my YouTube, where you
00:27:23.900 can watch my response
00:27:25.260 that I recorded
00:27:26.480 actually today and
00:27:28.380 read the press release
00:27:29.360 in response to Derek
00:27:30.540 Sloan's announcement
00:27:31.260 and issues such as
00:27:33.140 inflation, issues
00:27:34.760 such as Afghanistan,
00:27:36.920 which I've been
00:27:37.320 asked about.
00:27:38.420 You'll find pre
