00:04:00.000 Thank you.
00:04:30.000 Hello, welcome to the pipeline.
00:04:53.000 Today is August, is it the 25th, 25th, 25th, August 25th.
00:04:59.000 I am Derek Fildebrandt, publisher of the Western Standard.
00:05:02.000 You're watching The Pipeline.
00:05:03.000 I'm joined today by Western Standard news editor, Dave Naylor.
00:05:07.000 Top of the morning to you, Dave.
00:05:09.000 Derek, how are you doing?
00:05:11.000 Pretty good.
00:05:12.000 Good.
00:05:13.000 We're better than Corey.
00:05:14.000 You suffered a horrific chicken coop accident this week.
00:05:16.000 Yes.
00:05:17.000 I'm still suffering at this point.
00:05:19.000 What happened?
00:05:21.000 I put the damn birds to the bed and slipped on the steps and bruised my ribs.
00:05:25.820 Was it still on guano or something?
00:05:27.820 No, it wasn't guano for a change.
00:05:29.340 It was just water on the steps.
00:05:30.960 But, yeah, you know, I'd hoped if I'm going to go down with a big injury,
00:05:34.560 it's going to be something romantic or exciting, you know, a car chase or a ski accident.
00:05:38.340 But, no, I was putting the frigging chickens to bed.
00:05:41.300 So I'm sitting awkwardly and more grumpy than usual.
00:05:44.200 Well, if you were working from home, you'd claim that as WCB, right?
00:05:48.780 Our chicken revenue doesn't really...
00:05:50.600 Were the chicken all laughing at you?
00:05:52.840 They were cooped up, thankfully, at that point,
00:05:55.040 or we'd be down a couple of chickens. 0.97
00:05:56.340 I was pretty crabby.
00:05:57.680 We've got a great show today.
00:06:00.240 Really hot topics here.
00:06:03.760 A Trudeau liberal cabinet minister, Monsef,
00:06:08.240 has called the Taliban, quote, our brothers.
00:06:12.860 This is a, I suppose, new turn in Canada's diplomatic foreign policy,
00:06:18.300 a global affairs strategy, but I don't do foreign affairs anymore. That's too exclusionary.
00:06:22.780 So we're going to be talking about Justin Trudeau, his ministers, and Sharia law.
00:06:29.580 We're going to get into a, incredible that this has not made any media, gotten any media coverage
00:06:35.980 outside the Western Standard, and I think a few of the other independent alternative media out
00:06:39.340 there. But one liberal candidate, who for some reason is running in Alberta, has said, Alberta
00:06:45.580 needs to, quote, fit in or F off. I've been advised I should not say the proper word
00:06:50.160 because YouTube and Facebook algorithms will not like it. So if you are, if Mark Zuckerberg
00:06:57.280 was watching this, I said fit in or F off is what a Liberal cabinet minister says, sorry,
00:07:03.540 a candidate says that Alberta needs to do. We're going to talk about that, how reflective that
00:07:08.240 might be of where the Liberals are at with their view of Alberta right now, and why is it that
00:07:13.540 the government-funded media just have not seen this newsworthy to cover it.
00:07:18.940 As well, we're going to be talking, speaking of liberals playing around,
00:07:22.460 this one did actually, to its credit, get some play in the mainstream media.
00:07:26.580 Another Liberal cabinet minister, Chrystia Freeland,
00:07:29.440 essentially the shadow prime minister,
00:07:31.920 has tweeted a video that was heavily manipulated
00:07:37.360 and has been flagged as manipulated,
00:07:40.320 essentially lying about Aaron O'Toole,
00:07:43.280 We'll say he's going to do all sorts of things with private health care, a video which I wish was true.
00:07:48.480 Unfortunately, it is not true.
00:07:50.720 Aaron O'Pill is not planning any good changes to health care that I'm aware of, just throwing more money at it.
00:07:57.460 Unfortunately, that is his policy and is the truth.
00:08:00.220 And so we're going to talk about this and what it means for a Liberal Party that so strongly favors Internet censorship and regulation.
00:08:08.200 We've also got big sports teams across the West introducing mandatory vaccination,
00:08:14.360 not just for players and staff, but for people attending.
00:08:17.900 People have already bought season tickets, that kind of thing.
00:08:20.860 We're going to get into that as well.
00:08:24.400 And I'll just tell you right now, I'll remind you later,
00:08:27.140 we're planning a big election night special.
00:08:30.640 I believe election night is what, September 20th?
00:08:33.460 It is.
00:08:34.120 September 20th.
00:08:34.880 We're planning a big election night special.
00:08:36.580 We're going to have some special guests in the studio here, and we'll be giving you live coverage from a Western perspective.
00:08:44.940 Of course, we'll be looking at where the elections are actually decided, which is very much not here in the West.
00:08:50.440 So let's get started.
00:08:51.820 Actually, before we get started, we want to thank our Western Standard members for your continued generous support.
00:08:58.580 Without you, we couldn't do what we do.
00:09:00.760 If you're not yet a member of the Western Standard, go to westernstandardonline.com and click on Membership.
00:09:05.660 You can try it free for 15 days.
00:09:07.780 If you don't like it, you can cancel without paying a penny in that 15-day trial period.
00:09:13.100 It's just $10 a month, and for $10 a month, you're supporting independent Western media
00:09:17.620 that refuses to take the Trudeau government's media bill out.
00:09:22.320 I think you'll enjoy it.
00:09:23.760 We've got a great team working on our news team headed by Dave
00:09:26.260 and all kinds of great opinion columnists and contributors out right across Canada,
00:09:30.420 focusing on the West right now, giving you the coverage that I think you want and need.
00:09:34.600 So let's get started with Miriam Monsef, Liberal Cabinet Minister, apparently from Afghanistan.
00:09:44.340 She says she's from Afghanistan.
00:09:46.280 That's, I suppose, might also be flagged as manipulated information.
00:09:52.220 But she gave, she was giving a press conference today.
00:09:57.620 Apparently, you're still allowed to use government resources for press conferences during an election.
00:10:01.900 but she was talking about our brothers, the Taliban.
00:10:07.180 Dave, my jaw hit the floor as soon as I saw this.
00:10:11.900 I said, this is whack-a-doodle, bat-ass crazy stuff, even for a liberal.
00:10:21.220 Why don't you tell us what happened?
00:10:22.820 Yeah, it certainly has sent shockwaves across the country, Derek.
00:10:26.660 Minister Monsif was speaking with a group of three other cabinet ministers.
00:10:31.380 addressing the media about what's happening on the ground in Afghanistan.
00:10:36.740 Of course, it's the scene of unimaginable horror with the Taliban sweeping across the country 0.95
00:10:42.860 and their take-no-prisoners-execute-them-all style.
00:10:47.800 And she reached out to the Taliban, called them our brothers,
00:10:51.740 and said, we'd like you to give safe passage to anybody who wants to get out of Afghanistan's safe packet.
00:11:01.380 passes to the airport. So you remember, Derek, as all Canadians remember, these brothers of hers
00:11:07.720 killed 158 Canadian men, women, and civilians during the horrible war over there. And when she
00:11:17.900 refers to them as her brothers, it has made a lot of people angry. Justin Trudeau today said,
00:11:26.480 you know, she's explained herself. A reporter actually on the conference call said,
00:11:32.360 hey, you know what, do you want to take that comment back? Because it was pretty jarring.
00:11:36.540 She declined. Erin O'Toole says it's unacceptable. And you remember, Ms. Monseef,
00:11:43.260 back in 2016, the Globe and Mail revealed that she wasn't born in Afghanistan at all.
00:11:49.860 She was actually born in Iran.
00:11:53.040 So, you know, she's been in the spotlight before,
00:11:56.960 and she's the minister representing Canadian women, women's issues.
00:12:02.080 And we all know what the Taliban thinks of women. 1.00
00:12:05.040 Sharia law.
00:12:06.100 Sharia law.
00:12:07.720 Child brides, forced complete burqa wearing. 0.96
00:12:13.460 You know, they treat their women as second-class citizens. 1.00
00:12:16.180 So when you've got the Canadian minister responsible for the status of women saying they're our brothers, a lot of people are angry.
00:12:25.740 Yeah.
00:12:27.280 Actually, I just want to circle back for a second.
00:12:29.280 I gave a shout out to our fantastic columnists.
00:12:31.180 I received a message from Josh Andrus.
00:12:32.900 He believes we were talking about him.
00:12:36.280 So Josh, duly noted as one of our columnists, he believes we're talking about.
00:12:44.080 So coming back to this.
00:12:45.260 This is, I mean, I can understand maybe a slip of the tongue.
00:12:48.640 It appears to have been a prepared written remark.
00:12:51.500 She was reading off notes, yes.
00:12:53.200 Yeah, this was a prepared remark.
00:12:55.380 I mean, you could say stupid things with a slip of the tongue.
00:12:57.820 I mean, like calling the Taliban our brothers would be a very stupid slip of the tongue.
00:13:02.640 But it is beyond comprehension that this could be in a written prepared statement,
00:13:08.760 which have no doubt was vetted by the top officials reporting directly to the Prime Minister of Communications.
00:13:15.260 Now, if this stuff is vetted outside of election time, during an election time, it's vetted
00:13:19.920 by an army of senior people working for the prime minister, working for her.
00:13:24.280 I don't know anybody in the liberal world would have looked at this and said, I think
00:13:30.140 it's a bad idea to call the Taliban brothers.
00:13:35.380 It's just, it defies belief.
00:13:38.740 Corey, she was given an opportunity to retract it. She has declined that. Standing by it, doubling down on Taliban brothers. Do you think this is actually going to be a problem for the Liberal campaign or do you think Liberal voters are more or less fine with this kind of thing? 1.00
00:13:55.740 I think it is going to be a problem. There's stubborn intractability. I mean, they've made a mess of this last week. Just about every pundit agrees. This was a terrible campaign kickoff. They've had error after error.
00:14:06.740 Other things that we'll get on to, you know, with the video, for example, they still haven't backed down on that.
00:14:11.320 They've doubled down.
00:14:12.140 And it's unusual to hear at a press conference something like that.
00:14:14.400 I happened to walk into the office when Dave was listening to it and hear a reporter saying,
00:14:18.000 excuse me, are you sure you don't want to walk that?
00:14:20.800 They were even giving her an out, like saying, you know, did you?
00:14:23.560 They're trying to help her.
00:14:24.100 I mean, these are liberal media that love these guys.
00:14:26.300 They're saying, hey, I can help you.
00:14:27.820 If they'd been a conservative, they already would have been running out the door to get this to press.
00:14:30.660 But with the liberals, you really sure that's what you meant to say?
00:14:33.620 You want to have a little nuance?
00:14:34.540 You want to try to explain this?
00:14:35.640 You had your chance.
00:14:36.520 No, apparently the Taliban are our brothers and you can't soft sell these guys.
00:14:41.980 They are fundamentalist, fanatical extremists.
00:14:45.140 They are an evil group of people.
00:14:47.600 We're not talking about Islam or people of the Muslim faith.
00:14:51.560 This is a faction of it, a dangerous one, a very extreme one.
00:14:56.680 And trying to appease them or soft sell or call them brothers is vulgar.
00:15:01.020 I can't imagine how people whose family members were victims of that group feel
00:15:04.700 when, you know, Canada's minister is up there referring to them as brothers and again doubling down on it.
00:15:10.920 It's inexplicable.
00:15:12.280 Well, you know, the liberals have been giving non-answer answers when asked if they're going to recognize the Taliban as the legitimate government of Afghanistan.
00:15:19.120 I'll preface by saying you can recognize a foreign government as the, quote, legitimate government of a country without agreeing with it.
00:15:27.580 We recognize Red China, even though they took power in a violent coup and civil war.
00:15:34.700 We recognize them because they are there.
00:15:37.700 So, you know, that doesn't necessarily mean you endorse a government just by recognizing it.
00:15:41.400 Let's be fair about that.
00:15:43.440 But they've been giving these non-answer answers and talking about the need for the Taliban to be good global citizens. 0.70
00:15:49.720 And, you know, maybe Justin Trudeau and Monsef are succeeding.
00:15:53.080 The Taliban has announced today that it is going to join the fight against global warming.
00:15:57.780 The war on terror might be lost, but the war on global warming has got a powerful new ally.
00:16:04.780 I mean, there's all sorts of things the Taliban can do.
00:16:07.780 They can have carbon neutral burnings at the stake.
00:16:10.780 Or they don't have to burn at the stake because that is emitting carbon.
00:16:14.780 So they could stone, you know, they do prefer stoning people to death.
00:16:17.780 It's a preferred method.
00:16:18.780 Pollution free stoning.
00:16:19.780 Yes, stones, as long as you don't release the carbon in the stone.
00:16:22.780 They're carbon neutral, throwing a stone at an innocent victim.
00:16:25.780 And they will stop that victim from propelling carbon dioxide when the breathing ends.
00:16:30.160 Yeah, they're carbon negative, actually.
00:16:31.880 These guys are saints.
00:16:32.800 Yeah.
00:16:34.160 You know, they...
00:16:35.600 So there's all sorts of things the Taliban can do as good global citizens here.
00:16:40.820 It's bizarre, but, you know, them speaking up like that, though, it's funny because they are playing to the woke imbeciles that run a number of governments in the developed world.
00:16:50.880 I mean, that's the kind of language people like Trudeau want to hear.
00:16:54.000 That's the sort of thing that the Prime Minister of New Zealand wants to hear.
00:16:59.140 I mean, hey, come on, we're going to be carbon-friendly people.
00:17:02.340 Yeah, we're still going to kill gay people and beat women and do all that stuff, 1.00
00:17:06.300 but we're going to be carbon-neutral.
00:17:08.700 You know, I don't think that liberals like that they do these things.
00:17:14.020 They genuinely don't, but they do seem to have a moral relativist view of the world
00:17:20.180 that these things that would be considered barbaric and even beyond medieval in the West,
00:17:27.180 well, it's kind of the racism of low expectations.
00:17:30.720 They look at them and say, well, they're different and we have to have these low expectations of them.
00:17:35.520 So let's not, you know, judge them too harshly for murdering people for being gay 0.93
00:17:40.680 or oppressing people for being women.
00:17:42.860 But at least they're doing their part globally as global citizens.
00:17:46.480 You know, they're going to fight global warming because Afghanistan is such an industrial powerhouse.
00:17:52.480 Has the Taliban.com put gender pronouns in their description yet?
00:17:56.480 Well, that'll be interesting.
00:17:58.480 Who's the head of the Taliban? I don't even know the name of the head of the Taliban.
00:18:01.480 But I wonder if he's got gender pronouns in his Twitter bio.
00:18:04.480 We can't presume, you know.
00:18:06.480 He might be non-binary.
00:18:08.480 That reminds me, just yesterday, I never really looked at LinkedIn.
00:18:11.480 I was on LinkedIn yesterday and LinkedIn sent me a prompt and said,
00:18:14.480 please enter your preferred pronouns. So I did. What'd you put? Dude and his dudeness. 0.65
00:18:22.200 I like it. Yeah. I mean, I, and I demand that people respect these pronouns. I'd expect to
00:18:27.760 be called by it. So anyone referring to me, that's, that's my right. It's my right. Okay.
00:18:34.720 Well, let's move on. Speaking of rights, we're going to talk, today's show is sponsored by the
00:18:40.440 Canadian Coalition for Firearm Rights. The CCFR is a fantastic organization fighting for your right
00:18:46.980 to own, use, purchase, and bear arms safely in Canada. They are out lobbying people in power.
00:18:53.840 They are doing important advocacy work, getting public opinion on side for sane and rational
00:18:59.220 firearms legislation in Canada. They're a great organization out there. I know I visited some
00:19:05.500 of my family on the other end of the country, and I saw a CCFR bumper sticker on my uncle's truck.
00:19:10.440 And, you know, they're making a difference, not just here in the West, but they've got a real cross-Canadian network and definitely worth supporting.
00:19:19.180 If I could just interrupt your dudeness, our columnist, Dave Makachuk, actually talked to the head of the CCRF today,
00:19:27.620 and he's got a good column posted on westernstandardonline.com just about what they're doing and how sneaky the Trudeau liberal gun grab is.
00:19:37.960 All right, your daveness. Thank you.
00:19:39.640 You're welcome.
00:19:40.440 Yeah, so check out firearmrights.ca and click why join to learn more about why you should become a member of the CCFR.
00:19:52.480 Fantastic group. Love them.
00:19:54.380 We mention them every show. We love them so much.
00:19:56.000 We do.
00:19:56.700 Yeah.
00:19:57.420 Okay.
00:19:58.860 Well, speaking of maybe a less fantastic group, let's go back to the Liberal Party of Canada.
00:20:04.180 They've got a candidate.
00:20:05.640 Her name escapes me.
00:20:06.740 I'm sure she has a strong chance of winning this suburban Calgary constituency. 0.99
00:20:10.740 A liberal candidate on the north side of Calgary running against Michelle Rempel, the conservative incumbent.
00:20:17.740 Comments unearthed from not very long ago.
00:20:20.740 She wrote on her blog. Again, this is not slip of the tongue.
00:20:22.740 This is written down and published for the world to see.
00:20:25.740 Says Albertans or Alberta needs to quote, fit in or F off.
00:20:31.740 I suppose that's not an exact quote.
00:20:33.740 I said at the beginning of the show, I've been advised that Mark Zuckerberg does not
00:20:37.660 like spicy language in the algorithms here.
00:20:40.140 So liberal candidate saying, fit in or F off, Dave, why don't you tell us, do you remember
00:20:45.840 who it was?
00:20:46.840 I do.
00:20:47.840 It was a lady called Jessica Dale Walker. 1.00
00:20:50.400 She was the acclaimed candidate in Calgary Nose Hill running against Michelle Rempel.
00:20:56.180 Got no chance, little or no chance, but that chance just left town when it was unearthed
00:21:02.560 in a May 2020 blog, and you hit the nail on the head.
00:21:06.280 She wrote about Alberta always complaining and basically said, you know, Canada's done
00:21:11.080 a lot for Alberta.
00:21:12.660 Alberta needs to fit in or F off.
00:21:15.180 She says, Canada owes Alberta nothing.
00:21:18.680 I think that was the exact quote.
00:21:20.680 Yeah, exactly.
00:21:22.300 So as you can imagine, that went down like a lead balloon throughout most of Alberta.
00:21:29.040 And she's standing by it, I guess.
00:21:31.000 She hasn't apologized.
00:21:32.000 I apologize.
00:21:33.000 As Corey mentioned, the Liberals tend to double down and pretend they haven't made a mistake.
00:21:38.700 But there was no getting around this.
00:21:41.680 Rempelgarner put out a copy of the blog and her outrage and the outrage of many other
00:21:50.600 people continues.
00:21:51.600 So I wish Ms. Walker good luck when she's door knocking in Calgary, Nose Hill, but she 0.89
00:21:58.980 She may get that F-off greeting at a few doors, I think.
00:22:02.220 Yeah.
00:22:03.220 Corey, should Alberta fit in or F-off?
00:22:06.360 Oh, we can F-off.
00:22:07.360 I'm more than happy to.
00:22:08.480 I'm very happy to.
00:22:09.480 I was ready to sometimes.
00:22:10.480 I, for one, choose F-off.
00:22:12.480 Yes.
00:22:13.480 People have invited me to do it many, many times.
00:22:15.480 So I'd be, for once, happy to oblige.
00:22:20.200 I mean, I suppose I have an idea of what the answer might be, but the mainstream government
00:22:25.940 funded media did not cover this issue one bit. I did a Google search around, so maybe
00:22:30.640 someone covered it and I didn't see it, but I didn't see a single government funded news
00:22:35.660 outlet or media outlet cover this issue at all. It was us and some of the other independent
00:22:40.680 alternative media out there kind of found on the right side of things. Why is, do you
00:22:45.700 think this, did we miss the mark? Is this not newsworthy?
00:22:48.260 No, it's newsworthy as far as it should be. I mean, it's kind of mixed, I guess. I don't 1.00
00:22:53.680 like seeing the cancel mob swarming and destroying people over inadvertent comments. Though, I guess
00:23:00.420 if you're not going to get the coverage of the comment, you can get away with it. So she just 0.86
00:23:03.320 locked down her Twitter and ran away and then hopes that people will forget it. But I mean,
00:23:06.300 you've got to, and we say this so often when it comes to different coverage of different parties
00:23:10.320 or political stripes. If it had been, say, a fringe conservative candidate in Toronto Danforth
00:23:15.060 who said something similar to the people of downtown Toronto, it would have been done. It
00:23:19.880 It would have been finished, it would have been the cover of the Globe, the CBC, they
00:23:23.120 all would have been...
00:23:24.120 What they said about Quebec.
00:23:25.120 Convention.
00:23:26.120 Oh, yeah, there we go.
00:23:27.120 Speak English.
00:23:28.120 Yeah, it would have been finished and the media would have been merciless until this
00:23:32.500 person was gone.
00:23:33.500 And in this case, they don't even report upon it.
00:23:37.120 I mean, again, it wasn't an earth shattering thing that should hit from coast to coast,
00:23:40.160 but it's a great demonstration of the incredible leaning of the established media in Canada
00:23:47.000 And the double standard they hold candidates to in this country.
00:23:49.920 Well, we had a staff meeting about an hour before we started the show today.
00:23:54.640 I've given orders.
00:23:55.960 We are not done with this story.
00:23:58.120 We are not done.
00:23:58.580 We're going to keep banging at this story until someone in the government-funded media bloody reports it.
00:24:05.200 We're not letting go of it.
00:24:06.260 I think it's important that people running for office from the governing party of Canada would think that about Alberta.
00:24:14.080 It certainly didn't surprise me.
00:24:15.620 We all, I think, suspect that that's what liberals think of Alberta.
00:24:18.620 A lot of self-loathing liberals.
00:24:19.620 I mean, you see it sneaking out an inchie quite often, too, when he talks about Western culture
00:24:23.120 or pickup trucks, but as I wrongly predicted, he's not running for a member of parliament
00:24:29.800 so he can get away with those.
00:24:30.800 Now, this lady, on the other hand, better improve her door demeanor. 1.00
00:24:38.000 Why would a liberal run to be an MP in Alberta?
00:24:42.680 So you can get appointed senator.
00:24:44.680 It used to be the Provincial Liberal Party was the route to go.
00:24:49.460 Grant Mitchell got there and some others, but they drove that so deeply into the ground.
00:24:53.080 I mean, Kahn just obliterated it.
00:24:55.660 So now they have to run for the federal ones if they're going to try to.
00:24:58.080 Well, I think it began well before Kahn.
00:25:00.480 I go back to Nancy McBeth, I think initially, was the beginning of the end for them.
00:25:05.620 But it was a slow decline.
00:25:07.120 Kahn was the final.
00:25:08.120 Yeah.
00:25:09.120 Well, generally, if you want to get appointed a judge, like a federal court bench judge
00:25:13.880 or a Senator, you just ran as a Liberal candidate or you were the Provincial Liberal leader.
00:25:18.160 It's kind of like doing your tour of duty, you know, it's like you went to NOM so that
00:25:21.380 you could get a nice appointment to Hawaii or something.
00:25:24.200 Yeah, and I just wanted to take a swipe at Khan because I don't like the guy.
00:25:29.740 He's the less than pleasant.
00:25:30.740 I've known some, like Raj Sherman was a nice guy.
00:25:34.160 Actually, I got along with Raj great, but yeah, the Khan guy is... 1.00
00:25:38.660 He even took shots at the sandwiches my wife made in her coffee shop in Prentice.
00:25:42.880 That's how low our political battles got.
00:25:45.000 Well, I went after your sandwiches.
00:25:46.600 My wife's sandwiches.
00:25:47.760 That is unacceptable.
00:25:48.760 Uncalled for.
00:25:49.760 What a sumbitch.
00:25:50.760 Oh, I broke it there.
00:25:53.160 Okay.
00:25:54.160 We're going to move on here.
00:25:56.000 But today's show is also sponsored by Resistance Coffee.
00:25:59.700 You know what?
00:26:00.700 I should always just hand it straight to Corey.
00:26:02.700 Corey is a resistance coffee drinker.
00:26:04.420 I guzzle that stuff.
00:26:05.640 It's great.
00:26:06.640 Yeah.
00:26:07.640 Jane ordered up Resistance Coffee.
00:26:09.500 These guys, they're the counter woke.
00:26:11.800 You know, they're one of the companies that have formed to push back against all those
00:26:15.780 other companies where you go and make a purchase in good faith, thinking you're just buying
00:26:20.080 a product or a service, and then you find out later that part of your money went to
00:26:23.140 some wretched woke cause that you wouldn't want to give a nickel to, much less part of
00:26:27.240 your purchase.
00:26:28.660 Resistance Coffee, none of that.
00:26:29.980 They're pushing back.
00:26:30.980 They'll take 10% of your purchase.
00:26:31.980 They're giving it to groups that stand up for your individual rights like the GCCF and
00:26:35.720 some of the others.
00:26:36.720 GCCFR, maybe.
00:26:37.720 I don't know.
00:26:38.720 Maybe.
00:26:39.720 Yeah, so if you go to their site, resistancecoffee.com,
00:26:41.860 they do list all the areas where they will give 10% of your purchase to.
00:26:44.680 They've got all those great coffee names, you know, liberal tears.
00:26:47.600 You know, I like the dark roast the most.
00:26:50.540 They call it black gold.
00:26:54.440 But the liberal tears, just the sense of it just sounds so much better,
00:26:57.860 and that's their medium roast.
00:26:58.700 So I drink it just to feel better about myself.
00:27:00.900 But it is good coffee.
00:27:01.940 You know, you don't have to gag it down for the sake of making a point.
00:27:04.080 That should be a sweet coffee, liberal tears.
00:27:05.940 Yeah, in some sense.
00:27:07.460 It's good stuff.
00:27:08.260 They deliver it to your door.
00:27:09.300 you get 10% off on your first order if you put the Western Standard, all one word, into
00:27:14.420 the promo code when you order it, too.
00:27:16.180 So, I mean, 10% of your purchase goes to good individual rights causes, 10% of it comes
00:27:22.520 off of your first purchase, and you end up with some good coffee, with some good conversation
00:27:26.420 stuff for when families come over for their money.
00:27:27.920 And the other 90% goes to another good cause, capitalism.
00:27:30.060 Yes.
00:27:31.060 And then they sponsor us.
00:27:32.060 It's just the full closed circle of win.
00:27:35.140 So give these guys, you know, a look.
00:27:38.060 It's good stuff.
00:27:39.060 It's good coffee.
00:27:40.060 I promise you.
00:27:41.060 You won't be disappointed.
00:27:43.060 Okay.
00:27:44.060 Well, we're going to, today is really the beat up liberals day.
00:27:48.060 I mean, last week we, we beat up on the NDP and the Tories over their platforms.
00:27:52.060 The liberals, to my knowledge, haven't released the platform yet.
00:27:55.060 I mean, it's hard to have a platform running on a third term of government.
00:27:58.060 It's like, what are you going to do?
00:27:59.060 That's different other than more.
00:28:01.060 But I mean, I suppose that's a problem.
00:28:04.060 One of the problems Harper had when he was running for reelection in 2015.
00:28:07.060 His platform looks pretty bland to me.
00:28:11.300 So, we've got Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland. 0.81
00:28:20.460 She gave a real nutty video, like, did you see this video?
00:28:25.060 Oh, that was crazy.
00:28:26.060 Oh, she was just unhinged.
00:28:29.560 She's in Toronto, looks like, you know, dressed for a nice warm summer day, that's fine, but
00:28:34.740 She was standing in front of her office.
00:28:37.980 I think there was helium attached to her hands because they were just like out and gesticulating 0.99
00:28:43.500 very strongly about just how she had a cold sweat thinking about what happened if she
00:28:49.860 wasn't in power.
00:28:50.860 If she wasn't in power, she had cold sweats thinking about how terrible if she was not
00:28:55.520 in charge and right-wing conservative libertarians like Erin O'Toole were in charge and their 0.86
00:29:03.320 nefarious plans to privatize healthcare, and she talked about the video that she's tweeted
00:29:07.880 out about this. It was just the facts she gave, right?
00:29:13.080 It was, but fortunately, fact checkers checked it and determined it was fake news. Even Twitter
00:29:19.440 put up a manipulated video warning on it. This all started with an interview that Erin
00:29:26.320 O'Toole gave about health care. And he said he was all for universal health care. Great,
00:29:34.400 great stuff. But he was going to let the provinces, if they can find innovative ways
00:29:39.520 to cut waiting lists by farming out some minor surgical procedures to the private sector,
00:29:46.640 he would be all for that. So Freeland turned that around. Which we already do.
00:29:51.840 Which we already do. Especially in Quebec, happens all the time.
00:29:53.920 Yeah, I believe the Prime Minister himself got vaccinated at a private clinic.
00:29:58.460 Oh, Tommy Douglas will be rolling in his grave.
00:30:01.920 I know.
00:30:02.920 So, Freeland put out this video completely editing out anything that O'Toole said about
00:30:12.040 the universal system, just leaving in that thing about, you know, if we can find innovative
00:30:17.640 ways to do it, let's do it, and put it out there, as you said, like the world was coming
00:30:23.380 to an end. Streets would be filled with the dead and the dying because hospitals would
00:30:29.900 be overrun. Men in the streets with guns, remember that?
00:30:33.380 Oh yes, all too well. It really was a horrible manipulation of the truth. And it's ironic
00:30:40.060 because if you remember the last year or so, Derek, sorry, his dudeness, the liberals have
00:30:45.580 been trying their hardest to bring in a bill that would censor the internet, would allow
00:30:49.260 them to decide what's news and what's not news.
00:30:53.900 So I think they've shown their true colors if they think that what Freeland put out was
00:31:00.020 real news because even Twitter said no, fake news.
00:31:06.360 So she's doubled down.
00:31:08.640 They said we're standing by this even though it's been flagged as fake news.
00:31:13.500 They've doubled down, standing by on Brother Taliban, they're standing by their candidate 0.92
00:31:19.340 not apologizing whatsoever on their candidate saying Alberta must fit in or F off.
00:31:27.100 It looks like they're not making any allowance for error that their people are fallible. 0.79
00:31:35.500 But it looks to me like in the last week, a lot can change.
00:31:38.560 The Liberals still are leading or tied in most polls.
00:31:42.680 But they've squandered a lot of that leading the polls.
00:31:45.760 And it looks to me like the wheels are, they might not be off, but they are definitely
00:31:51.480 headed in a downwards direction.
00:31:52.960 It does not look like momentum is on their side.
00:31:55.640 We're starting to smell some desperation.
00:31:58.000 Just to add to that background though, for people who want to watch that video, because
00:32:00.740 that was gross what they did with it. 0.96
00:32:02.480 We do have it on the WesternStandardOnline.com.
00:32:04.340 posted both videos. So you can see that the clip she posted on
00:32:07.940 Twitter was 36 seconds. The real original was two and a half
00:32:12.260 minutes. And I mean, there was some social media fart catchers
00:32:14.840 saying, Oh, no, you know, it's just shortening a video. No,
00:32:17.180 there's like three jump cuts. You know, you can take somebody's
00:32:19.880 speech and sure the original content there. But if you slice
00:32:22.660 and dice it into 30 seconds, you can make it say nearly
00:32:25.160 anything. It was it was unforgivable. And very deceptive.
00:32:28.760 This bizarre, I mean, you know, they seem incapable of it, but at a point like this, a little humility, I think, would go a long ways.
00:32:37.400 If anything puts people off, it is a true sense of arrogance coming from them.
00:32:41.840 I mean, again, speaking of Nenshi, that's part of what it was kind of bringing his support down over the years with people who were just tiring of the arrogance.
00:32:48.440 I mean, they don't have to come down and flagellate, but at least delete the tweet.
00:32:52.620 I mean, at the very minimum of something you're going to do, they won't back off.
00:32:57.060 And it's, I think, great.
00:32:59.440 I mean, if they want to dig their own hole, let them go.
00:33:02.140 But we're smelling desperation.
00:33:03.460 They didn't expect things to go this badly.
00:33:05.240 They've already dropped the abortion card.
00:33:06.860 They've already, you know, pulled stunts like this, which, again, are signs of a...
00:33:11.400 Health care card, the abortion card.
00:33:12.640 What else have they...
00:33:13.440 What other cards?
00:33:14.120 They played a lot of cards real quickly.
00:33:15.700 In the first week, and it's not working for them.
00:33:17.880 And they seem to be getting more desperate.
00:33:19.320 And I've been surprised because, I mean, love or hate the liberals.
00:33:21.680 They're usually actually a well-organized, powerful campaigning machine.
00:33:25.200 I mean, you know, they've got some very, very bright people in the back rooms anyways,
00:33:29.320 even if their person in the front's a bit of a twit, who manage these things.
00:33:33.280 And it just doesn't seem to be coming together right now.
00:33:36.200 And the polls are certainly showing that Canadians think the wheels have fallen off.
00:33:41.280 The last couple this week has shown them, in a dead heat, basically a statistical tie,
00:33:46.320 which if you remember just a few short months ago, the Liberals had a comfortable lead.
00:33:50.900 I think any talk of a liberal majority is now out the window.
00:33:56.660 And apparently the Tories are ahead in the GTA even.
00:34:01.420 That shows you how far...
00:34:02.420 I'm going to need a few more polls to reconfirm that before I believe it.
00:34:06.340 But they've got to do something to right the ship or it'll get to a point where it can't
00:34:13.140 be salvaged.
00:34:14.140 And one of the things that I think was their bigger fear too is Singh has actually been
00:34:17.240 pretty effective.
00:34:18.240 I got to say, the way they've been hitting on the commercials with the NDP, as we kind of said earlier, Trudeau's had six years in there.
00:34:25.680 You can't re-promise stuff, you know, forever.
00:34:28.480 Eventually, you've actually acted on it.
00:34:30.420 And they list a number of things that Trudeau promised.
00:34:32.300 Well, he promised it, but he didn't do it.
00:34:33.580 He promised it, but he didn't.
00:34:34.320 Why should you believe him this time?
00:34:36.080 And people are saying, well, why should I?
00:34:37.660 Has the Statue of Limitations run out yet on blaming Stephen Harper?
00:34:42.300 That's what he's done for the first five years.
00:34:44.380 Everything was Stephen Harper's fault.
00:34:45.660 That's true.
00:34:46.180 Can he now still say that?
00:34:48.240 He's had all those years in power. He's got nobody to blame but himself.
00:34:51.600 I don't think there's any copyright or statute of limitations on that.
00:34:54.080 I think they'll ride that as long as Trudeau's around.
00:34:57.040 I don't think Canadians are buying it anymore.
00:35:00.160 Well, we'll see. We'll see.
00:35:02.800 Speaking of buying, there's been a raft of sports teams across Canada and here in the West
00:35:11.200 that are introducing mandatory vaccinations, not just for players and not just for employees
00:35:17.680 in the stadiums, but even for people attending these games, I think we had the story first.
00:35:25.600 It just popped into my inbox. I hold season tickets for the Calgary Stampeders. Big football
00:35:31.600 fan. I love the stamps. We actually had a great game last week. Finally, we got our first one
00:35:36.640 of the season. It was a great game. But apparently, you are now required to provide a vaccine
00:35:43.040 passport at the door. That shouldn't pose a technical problem for any of the three of
00:35:50.000 us. We're vaccinated. I mean, I know some viewers are going to disagree, but I think
00:35:55.980 vaccination is great. You should do it. Smart thing to do, but it's your choice to do it. 0.84
00:36:00.040 If you don't want to do it, that is your own choice. And I think it's the wrong one, but
00:36:04.260 you in a free country, you have the right to make bad choices. And, but you know, the
00:36:09.180 So the Calgary Sports Group, so that's Stamps, that's Flames.
00:36:13.020 We've had it in Edmonton as well.
00:36:14.700 So anyway, I gave him a call back as I was driving home that day.
00:36:17.920 I said, I want a refund for the outstanding amount of my season tickets.
00:36:21.460 That's not in the terms and conditions that I signed up for.
00:36:26.540 Again, I should have no problem, but I'm not allowed to...
00:36:31.200 We were just signing up.
00:36:32.600 We were going through the paperwork just a day or two ago
00:36:35.340 to getting a benefits plan here at the Western Centre for employees.
00:36:39.180 and the insurance companies are not allowed to ask you for your medical records. They're private
00:36:45.100 information. And so it seems strange to me that the Stampeders or the Flames or the Oilers or the
00:36:54.620 misspelled Elks are allowed to ask for that kind of private information. So Dave, why don't you tell
00:37:01.420 us, I suppose I've kind of blabbed a bit here, but why don't you tell us about it? You covered it
00:37:06.220 Well, Derek, started with the Winnipeg Jets a couple of weeks ago, announced this week, stamps, hit men, flames, oilers, anybody going into the Rogers Centre, anybody going into the Saddle Dome for concerts or anything like that, will have to show proof of vaccinations.
00:37:25.560 And I think what's happened here is the sports teams have had to do it because the government hasn't.
00:37:31.560 B.C. this week brought in mandatory vaccine cards that you're going to have to carry to get anywhere really in the province.
00:37:42.560 Movies, dinners, Manitoba done the same thing, Quebec has done the same thing.
00:37:48.560 But Premier Kenney has steadfastly said he wasn't going to do that in Alberta.
00:37:53.560 Florida. So rightly or wrongly, the teams have done it themselves. And with, you know,
00:38:00.280 basically I'm sure saying, you know, thanks for nothing province. If you'd have done it,
00:38:04.840 we wouldn't have had to. But yeah, if you want to go see a Flames game, you better have,
00:38:09.120 you better be double jabbed, and you better have the paperwork to prove it. And there
00:38:14.380 has been some social media chatter about a few dozen people cancelling their season
00:38:20.880 tickets the flames have so far refused to call me back the stamps did and basically said everything's
00:38:29.840 being handled out of the saddle dome so what what kind of effect this will have on sales
00:38:34.640 remains to be seen but i'm sure some fans won't be happy corey you're um you're pro vax like me
00:38:41.680 you've got the jab you're happy to do it um but do you think i mean this isn't the government doing
00:38:47.920 I think there and there is a distinction between government doing it and private because I actually
00:38:52.720 do believe in the legalized right to discriminate but it seems it only seems to go with one way.
00:38:56.800 It's distressing you know as it's their private enterprises but we're seeing a societal swarming
00:39:02.160 on the unvaccinated now and they're being turned into pariahs and it's divisive. I'm getting very
00:39:06.640 concerned on the tone and the attitude. I mean we've got to think harder on the people who have
00:39:13.200 chosen not to get vaccinated. I mean, most people who were supportive of it, who were comfortable
00:39:17.840 with it, have already done so. I mean, we're talking about a remainder who, you know, people
00:39:21.360 use the term vaccine hesitant. That's a small percentage. The ones that were left, maybe 20%.
00:39:25.600 These are very vehemently anti-vaccination people. And if they truly believe, feel that
00:39:32.360 they're going to turn into a lizard person or that their DNA is going to be modified, or they're
00:39:37.240 going to go magnetic or all the other baloney that's going around. So yeah, I know we'll get
00:39:40.360 all the messages and texts for me calling it baloney. But either way, if you really do feel
00:39:43.760 that way, you really do believe that, you're not going to put that in you for anything. Nothing is
00:39:48.180 going to compel you to do that. So we have to accept and work with figuring out how to work
00:39:53.700 when we've got as much as, you know, 20% of our society unvaccinated and pressuring and cornering 0.64
00:40:01.060 and unemploying and doing things like that. I don't think this is going to end well. I think
00:40:06.020 it's actually going to hurt
00:40:08.360 because there'll be some people
00:40:09.760 there's a spectrum a vaccine has
00:40:12.000 intensity to those who believe it
00:40:14.000 is just a conspiracy
00:40:15.740 and it's going to sterilize you or something
00:40:18.020 to people who have
00:40:19.980 questions about it which might be reasonable
00:40:21.880 fair questions and to people who
00:40:24.060 are like
00:40:24.660 okay with vaccination but just want to
00:40:27.960 kind of see how it plays out first
00:40:29.100 the hardcore people who believe that
00:40:31.780 this is Bill Gates controlling your mind or something
00:40:34.220 they're never going to get vaccinated
00:40:35.580 But I think there's still a fair number there in that 20% that are not vaccinated who are legitimately vaccine hesitant.
00:40:43.340 They're just not doing it yet.
00:40:45.620 And I think these kinds of measures are going to make them less likely to do it.
00:40:50.960 I look at this and I am seeing totalitarianism.
00:40:54.760 Like I'm seeing a dangerous coercion from significant corporate international powers
00:41:01.600 and from government, the state, trying to force people to do something.
00:41:07.520 And that makes me half wish I hadn't got the job,
00:41:10.520 even though I think vaccination was the right thing for me to do.
00:41:13.140 I don't want to do it because they're forcing me to do it.
00:41:15.480 I wanted to make a choice, not be forced to do something.
00:41:17.500 And that says well what I'm talking about.
00:41:19.180 It's just I don't like this pressuring and this coercion and this tone,
00:41:22.520 even if it's a minority of people that I don't agree with.
00:41:25.220 That's what I respect as a libertarian, as others,
00:41:28.300 is I can live with a minority I don't agree with. 0.87
00:41:30.580 You do your thing, I do mine.
00:41:32.720 And again, it's a cultural swarm that's happening.
00:41:36.540 It's unprecedented and it's distressing.
00:41:38.940 I don't feel comfortable with where it's going.
00:41:42.120 I'd still get vaccinated because I think it's the right thing.
00:41:44.140 I've talked about that even when we talk about doing the census when it was illegal.
00:41:48.580 I was with an ex at one time when they were really cracking down on that
00:41:51.840 And I refused to do the census, absolutely refused.
00:41:54.320 She ended up filling it out on my behalf when I was in Omaha.
00:41:56.180 I was so ticked off.
00:41:57.480 But you know what?
00:41:57.900 If they would have just come and asked, if it wasn't legally mandated,
00:42:00.700 I would have filled it out.
00:42:02.220 But the second you put a gun to my head, my heels dig in.
00:42:05.060 And, you know, I get ticked off.
00:42:07.460 And that's what we're trying with these vaccines.
00:42:09.040 And for, yeah, as you said, those who are still hesitant,
00:42:11.020 now you're putting a gun to their head.
00:42:12.060 You're not moving them from hesitant to pro.
00:42:14.100 You are scaring them into the full anti-vax.
00:42:16.580 Yeah, because if you're believing that there might be some kind of nefarious
00:42:21.400 purposes behind this. You're actually seeing government acting nefariously.
00:42:24.600 They're looking that way. This is going to confirm conspiracy theories for some people,
00:42:28.840 or even people who aren't prone to conspiracy theories. They're going to look at this and say,
00:42:33.640 you know what? I don't like to be forced to do it. So like Corey, I'm not going to fill out
00:42:37.960 the census. Well, look at the size of McMahon Stadium and it's outdoors, you know? I mean,
00:42:41.320 why don't we have an unvaccinated section then? We can do sections.
00:42:44.520 That'd be great. We can just be smoking and non-smoking. We can have farting and non-farting.
00:42:47.720 You can have all sorts of sections where people can more comfortably enjoy each other's company.
00:42:52.720 Do you prefer fart or no fart?
00:42:54.720 Oh, absolutely fart.
00:42:55.720 It's an art form.
00:42:56.720 I've got to share that.
00:42:57.720 That's what crowded situations are for.
00:42:59.720 We've reached a new low.
00:43:02.720 We're a classy show.
00:43:04.720 We try to keep it classy.
00:43:05.720 I've got references on that.
00:43:07.720 I'll take it up with Jane.
00:43:10.720 Actually, this raises the other point.
00:43:13.720 We've been to some of these games.
00:43:16.720 nobody's wearing masks. There's one guy a couple seats down who wears a mask and no one else is.
00:43:21.260 What's a lie to the, you know, what these forced maskers have been telling themselves and telling 1.00
00:43:27.260 everyone else's? The mask is not for me. It's for you to protect you. Well, how does that one guy
00:43:31.360 surrounded by 10,000 people not wearing a mask? He must think, wow, these 10,000 people must want
00:43:35.280 me to die. No, it's clearly for people with their own neurosis who are paranoid about this stuff.
00:43:41.280 and it's also putting a
00:43:43.120 it's confusing me that these
00:43:45.220 I'm pro-vax but I'm not pro-mandatory
00:43:47.800 vax and
00:43:49.320 so these extreme vaxxers
00:43:51.780 let's call them, if there's a spectrum here
00:43:53.680 and if I'm sort of in the middle
00:43:55.900 or you're in the middle, I think you
00:43:57.820 are too, these extreme
00:43:59.840 vaxxers out here 1.00
00:44:00.900 I don't think they actually believe the vaccines work
00:44:03.880 the vaccines are
00:44:05.760 to protect you, if you're vaccinated
00:44:07.120 you're good, you're not going to die
00:44:09.200 You're quite unlikely to even contract COVID, and you are extraordinarily unlikely to fall victim to death from COVID.
00:44:18.560 Yet you insist that we need to use the power of the state to force people at nearly gunpoint to get vaccinated.
00:44:25.740 Well, do you believe they work or do you believe they don't?
00:44:28.680 If you believe vaccines work, then the people who are not getting vaccinated, as far as you control, it's Darwinian population control.
00:44:35.860 They are going to make poor decisions, and if it hurts them, well, that was their own choice.
00:44:40.660 They're not hurting anyone else by not getting vaccinated.
00:44:43.060 They'll gain the herd immunity the old-fashioned way and put themselves at a higher risk in doing it.
00:44:47.380 The only other area, and that's a much bigger discussion for another show though,
00:44:50.180 is people say, well, they could overcrowd our healthcare system.
00:44:52.420 But we've been warned about that for 17 months. It hasn't happened yet.
00:44:55.460 But even if they did, then maybe it's time we re-examine our entire healthcare system
00:44:59.220 so we can move on to private options and personal responsibility.
00:45:01.620 I thought we'd love to be unvaccinated the right to purchase private health care. 0.71
00:45:05.680 Yeah.
00:45:06.680 Let's just see how that works.
00:45:07.680 Well, then I wouldn't get vaccinated.
00:45:08.680 I would have to...
00:45:09.680 Well, I would lie and say I'm not vaccinated.
00:45:11.260 Yeah.
00:45:12.260 Let me in.
00:45:13.260 I did see a story today.
00:45:14.260 I think a U.S. health company in the States is adding a $200 premium per month for anybody
00:45:19.860 who's not vaccinated.
00:45:21.480 Yeah.
00:45:22.480 Okay.
00:45:23.480 Well, just a reminder, we are going to be having an election night special, September
00:45:29.520 20th.
00:45:30.520 details on that coming for you soon, but stay tuned, book it in your calendar election night.
00:45:36.540 We're going to have a live election coverage. We're going to be camped out here in the Western
00:45:41.240 Standard Studio in downtown Calgary, but we're going to have correspondence reporting live
00:45:45.440 from British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, maybe even the center of the universe in Ontario.
00:45:53.300 We'll see. It's going to be great. We promise it's going to be good, but we're going to have
00:45:57.600 more details for you soon. Just a reminder, if you're already a member of the Western Standard,
00:46:02.960 thank you very much for your support. But if you're not yet a member, go to westernstandardonline.com
00:46:07.900 and click on membership. You can try it free for 15 days. See if you like what you're getting.
00:46:13.060 If you do, it's only $10 a month to support independent Western bailout free media that
00:46:19.560 I think you're going to like. We've got a great team here doing great work. And I think they're
00:46:23.940 worth supporting. I don't know about me and these guys, but there's a lot of others that you might
00:46:27.980 like, even if you don't like us. So thank you very much, Corey, his Dave-ness, his Morgan-ness,
00:46:35.520 and for me, his dude-ness. Thank you very much. God bless.
