00:00:00.000hey welcome back uh thanks for joining me on this uh i'm not gonna say beautiful
00:00:29.520Every day is a beautiful day, but it's raining today here downtown in Calgary.
00:00:33.680But thanks for joining me during your lunch hour for most of you, I guess, or maybe slightly after lunch.
00:00:42.220I think this show is going to, for me, this show is going to fly today because I was walking over here making a quick list of things I want to talk about.
00:00:49.780and the list is never ending um which which which is sort of um what i expected right like the summer
00:01:00.760was kind of calm right summer's always calm politicians are in recess and stuff like that
00:01:05.460and now you can sort of sense this bubbling and and the country's about to become even crazier
00:01:10.700than it's been because paul and and isn't that sad that the reason the country becomes crazier
00:01:15.760is because politicians go back to work right that says something like if if we had less politicians
00:01:20.880and they weren't doing anything we'd be better off but then as soon as politicians go back to
00:01:25.520work things seem to escalate and get crazy um so speaking of politicians i walk into the studio
00:01:32.240here and i got uh mr stephen gilbeau over my shoulder i'm not going to leave him very long
00:01:38.000i'm going to reach around and and toss him on the ground but the reason we put him up is because
00:01:42.720um Stephen Gilboa finally told Elections Canada that he was resigning right he announced his
00:01:51.180resignation way back I think it was in uh uh was it October last year when uh the first MOU was
00:01:58.480signed yeah I think it was October November so as soon as you know when Carney and Smith signed
00:02:03.320their first MOU he got upset and uh you know Canada's going backwards and I can't stand for
00:02:10.300this. So he stepped out of cabinet. He resigned as minister in protest. He didn't resign as a
00:02:18.120parliamentarian, but he kind of said that he would step down. And then later on, he got upset a second
00:02:25.240time this year. I think back in May, he got upset again at the second MOU between Ottawa and
00:02:32.660Alberta. And so at that time, he's like, okay, I'm going to resign sometime near the end of summer.
00:02:38.140And he kind of hinted that he was going to do it on August 28th.
00:02:41.800But there was three by-elections in Canada on Monday.
00:02:47.420And after the result of those by-elections,
00:02:49.540actually, I'll just talk quickly about those by-elections, right?
00:02:52.040So the one, there was two Liberals that had stepped down
00:02:56.000and one Conservative in Quebec had stepped down.
00:03:03.420the one in British Columbia and the one in Ontario,
00:03:05.400everybody expected them to stay Liberal.
00:03:07.400The one in Quebec, in Chicoutimi, the fjord, was contested a little harder and it ended up being a true vote split, whereas the bloc and the conservative split and the liberal got in.
00:03:21.200So that temporarily gave Carney back his majority, like ever so slim, right? 173.
00:03:28.680And then just to be, I'd say, just in character, Stephen Gilbeau went to Elections Canada and said, I resigned effective the 31st, which kind of dropped Carney back to, don't quote me on this, maybe somebody can comment, but I think he's down to 172.
00:03:46.920So I don't think there's a majority for the Liberals at this point.
00:03:51.720And then we still have a few other, we have one more resignation to take effect soon, the one of Brock.
00:04:02.060Anyways, there's one resignation still pending, and then there's five empty seats.
00:04:06.480So we'll have six by-elections in the next couple of months.
00:04:08.860and uh anyway so steven gilbo my friend happy to say good riddance um all right so what are we
00:04:20.440going to talk about uh again folks this is a call-in show don't be shy uh you can make some
00:04:26.800comments but uh definitely encourage you to call the number uh john will put it back down on the
00:04:31.560screen there it's it's down on the screen please call let's make it uh interactive it doesn't have
00:04:37.760to be about something I'm talking about today it could be about something you guys want to talk
00:04:41.460but there's a lot I'll just go through quickly what I kind of have on my agenda I know I was
00:04:48.840gone for a week back in my hunting camp I asked John the producer what what what's on people's
00:04:54.480mind and I guess the trade war is definitely on people's mind so I want to talk about the trade
00:04:58.060war and and some of the events that have occurred in the last couple of days and and we got to
00:05:03.160repair right that big tariffs from uh carney go into effect next week on the 8th so i want to talk
00:05:07.760about the trade war can't ignore the uh the meme war that's going on uh bank of canada holding
00:05:13.980interest rates at 2.25 calgary the big leak at city hall yesterday um calgary like for you know
00:05:21.700the various departments presenting a 20 increase in spending that'd be ridiculous you can't have
00:05:27.700a 20% increase. Elections Alberta kicking in their public relations campaign in overdrive.
00:05:33.520Jason Kenney going after influencers, Lake America, and a few other things. So let's
00:05:40.380steer it whichever way you guys want to go. But before I go to create, just on the topic
00:05:47.280of trade wars, John, can you bring up, I think I talked about this a little bit last week,
00:05:51.300But John, bring up the picture of the USS Abraham Lincoln, please.
00:05:56.580So this is the USS Abraham Lincoln, an American warship coming in for some rest and recreation, R&R, in Thailand.
00:06:09.400It spent 285 days in the Gulf protecting American interests, defending the Gulf of Hormuz.
00:06:17.860You know, it's been on a mission for 285 days.
00:06:21.180that's a long time and it was weird to see this week it created a bit of a storm online because
00:06:27.100people are so trump derangement syndrome is so real not just here in canada but even in the u.s
00:06:34.140and america the the american uh left the attack is you know showing this as an example of of
00:06:41.180american failure because the vessel was rusted all right and so a rusted boat like that and
00:06:48.220is not a sign of failure that's what happens when the american you know that that boat was
00:06:52.620commissioned in like 1989 has been floating for 37 years powered by a nuclear reactor has a has a
00:07:00.620larger air force on that boat there's more planes on that boat than we have it didn't limp into
00:07:06.540port it came into port under its own power and that is wear and tear from a mission well done
00:07:11.900and 5 000 young soldiers on board now are going to get a break in thailand and uh i think there's
00:07:17.500going to be some epic stories but i just found that whole thing i just wanted to show that uh
00:07:22.620trump derangement that donald trump just does that to people it's it's it's crazy but if if
00:07:28.060you think that that's a sign of failure you're wrong that'd be like me saying you know that a
00:07:33.180boxer with bloody knuckles or uh or uh or or a black eye after a fight is a lousy boxer no that's
00:23:37.040And I mean, I think somebody would do some more,
00:23:39.640like some reporting into some more deeper stuff.
00:23:42.280Like when we were having trade negotiations,
00:23:45.880Mark Carney was on vacation in Europe.
00:23:49.220Well, you can be sure he wasn't at the beach.
00:23:51.960He was consulting with all his WF, globalists, and they are all very, very concerned about Trump winning both houses in the midterms because they know that if he wins, they're toast.
00:24:08.240He's already started attacking them through the financial systems.
00:24:12.940Already, we've said he's been talking about how they're attacking him through the finances.
00:24:17.660And they know that it's their coach if he gets to win both houses because he's going to be unstoppable.
00:25:40.200When you've got guys like Vance and Rubio, one of those two guys is probably going to be the new president.
00:25:46.320And I think they're almost more of they're more than Trump on steroids because those guys are true blue Republicans and true blue Americans.
00:25:56.340Yeah, no, I appreciate the call. Thanks for calling.
00:25:58.680And I, you know, one interesting thing in the U.S. is I have lots of friends who've been down there recently and they, you know, it's obvious when you're down there that the Americans are doing well.
00:26:13.900And so you can criticize and the Americans are feeling it, right?
00:26:17.680They're going, well, the criticism aimed at Trump in my daily life don't align because I'm actually doing good.
00:26:26.460it we're we're we're we're not making the link between our miserable lives and our government
00:26:33.020it's it's fascinating john did i lose that caller and i got another caller already is that what it
00:26:37.580is okay go ahead uh go ahead caller hi marty my name is keith i've been listening for about two
00:26:45.820three months i mean i worked a night show so i just happened to catch a live marty do you mind
00:26:51.500if i switch topics for a minute is that okay i want to talk about this oh marty why isn't anybody
00:26:59.260bringing up that they're still promoting the college shot because i i have a personal story
00:27:05.180my mother was 94 in long-term care and um last uh may 11th night usually my family's away and i i
00:27:14.780would reject her getting any boosters but this time it was overwritten by a family member my
00:27:20.940mother went into palliative care not the shot in the 11th without my knowledge went in palliative
00:27:27.100care on the 19th and died june 5th and she was healthy her mind just her mobility was the reason
00:27:34.060she ended up in 93 in long-term care and all the all the nurses and all the people that worked in
00:27:40.460that facility were required to get the booster even the workers and i'm and they're still calling
00:27:46.380it safe and i don't understand what is going on in alberta that they're still promoting it
00:27:51.420it's safe and that they're requiring people to get it i you just you're upsetting me with your
00:27:57.660yeah you're upsetting me with your story right now i just got goosebumps i mean i don't know
00:28:01.580what you can like short of moving her into another home i i need somebody else to pipe in on this
00:28:08.540like could you not could you not give orders and and prevent that i don't know that sounds criminal
00:28:14.540i mean i i feel for i don't i don't have an answer but i feel for you i i've been talking
00:28:19.340about this relentlessly i don't know why people are still doing this i have no idea
00:28:26.780yes thanks marty i i just wanted to bring it up i don't understand why the politicians
00:28:31.980in alberta or why the separate separate just movement are not talking about this
00:28:37.500yeah yeah yeah thanks still being promoted thanks for calling keith uh sorry to hear that but thanks
00:28:43.180for calling thank you thank you yeah that what another terrible story i mean i i've you know
00:28:51.180if if if you're if you're 30 years old and you want to go get vaccinated that's your choice
00:28:57.580that's fine um i'm upset at the fact that there are still so many kids under the age of 18 that
00:29:04.620are being vaccinated that are parents that are taking their kids and and vaccinating their kids
00:29:09.820And I understand it's the law the parents allowed to choose. But I mean, there's so much evidence that shows that vaccinating a kid against COVID who's under the age of 18 and healthy is completely, totally unnecessary.
00:29:22.320But there's still literally tens of thousands of people that do it. But at the other extreme is like this caller is like Keith just said, what we're doing to me, to some of the people in old age, the number is high, right?
00:29:34.860Across the board in Alberta, like a vaccine uptake is minuscule now.
00:29:39.800It's under 10 percent, but it's in the 60 to 70 percent range in people over the age of 65 and 70.
00:29:46.500And I know it's in old age homes and are being, I would dare say, vaccinated against their will.
00:29:51.900I don't think they know. And if somebody has an idea for the caller, like, how do you stop that?
00:29:57.040I have no idea. Is there is like I have no idea. It's so terrible.
00:30:01.560All right, well, let me rush through the story on tariffs then.
00:30:07.740So American tariffs are kicking, new tariffs are kicking in on the 8th, right?
00:30:11.660And so these are tariffs we're imposing on ourselves, okay?
00:30:15.760So Carney is going to tax you for buying things from the U.S.
00:30:21.960So he's going to tax you for buying makeup, furniture, children's toys, motorcycles, farm equipment, a few other things.
00:30:32.920Like it's a long list. I think there's 879 categories that kick in in a couple of weeks.
00:30:39.540And again, it's such a counterproductive thing to do.
00:30:43.940As an example, let's say you were ready to buy a motorcycle
00:30:50.340and you're ready to buy a Harley Davidson motorcycle
00:30:52.980and it used to be $25,000, but now next week it gets a 50% tariff on it.
00:30:58.240So the motorcycle jumps up from $25,000 to $40,000.
00:31:03.200And so now you pause and you go, I'm not buying it.
00:31:06.680So Carney succeeded in scaring you and you're not buying that motorcycle from the US
00:35:40.820He already signed a deal with Venezuela, which makes me nervous, like I said, because he can now bring in the Venezuelan oil and reverse the pipelines and feed his refineries in the Midwest and whatnot.
00:35:53.620with venezuelan oil i personally i think that the economy of the u.s is so booming that they need
00:35:59.240our oil and venezuelan oil they need it all so so at the end of the day i'm still not worried
00:36:05.620about that but in the short term it could have a minor impact and then but then she also talked
00:36:10.940about the fact that most canadians had no idea that this is a fact right alberto oil goes down
00:36:15.860to the u.s and then comes back up through like the michigan peninsula and line five and into the
00:36:20.680and to ontario that way and sort of out of just sheer coincidence maybe maybe not line five went
00:36:28.500down last week right there was an they were they were doing they were shut down to do some
00:36:32.460maintenance some repairs but then some truck backed in and hit some and there was there's a
00:36:37.420bigger impact on line five and and what happened instantly there's there's a convergence if you
00:36:44.720look at the price i fueled up for uh i fueled up in uh stony plain coming back from up north
00:36:50.640two days ago and i paid a buck a buck 25 nine one two five point nine for uh gasoline in stony
00:37:00.460plain which is crazy right and so i'll like the war in the war in the gulf is settling down the
00:37:06.500boats are coming home everything's getting okay we're we're and our prices of gasoline are coming
00:37:12.460down ontario's is going like this right now and there's this huge divergence because of line five
00:37:18.540so uh go ahead call her uh name and where are you from please
00:37:23.820hey marty exchange how are you can you hear me yeah yeah i can hear you go ahead go ahead
00:37:38.940i figured i'd call and take some mean things about canadians today okay go ahead
00:37:45.100you're allowed to say two mean things not too many
00:37:49.740I mean, it's just, uh, well, Premier Smith's completely right, and she hasn't justifiably taken a lot of crap lately for, uh, from the independent school public, I understand, but Premier Smith seems to be the last politician in here who understands what diplomacy is.
00:38:13.040Well, I think that could learn something from him.
00:41:09.620right carney's going around buying votes so he's promising things spending money that we don't have
00:41:16.400to buy things that we don't need that could be better spent by the private sector that are more
00:41:20.720expensive than necessary he's picking the winners and losers and he's doing his thing and he's
00:41:26.100getting re-elected for doing that people buy it people applaud it okay people applaud it because
00:41:31.86040 percent of Canadians don't pay taxes and those that do it's a very small minority and then and
00:41:38.060And then and then there's a ton of people on the payroll directly, whether it's OAS or CPP.
00:41:43.600And then there's a ton of people on the payroll, literally, that work for the government in one way or another.
00:41:50.260So it's we're like we are going down that path and it's almost too late, which brings like I didn't even expect to go here, which brings me back to why I'm an Alberta separatist.
00:42:00.280because we have to save Alberta, the last bastion of common sense
00:42:04.040with people like Danielle Smith and our leaders on the independence movement.
00:42:08.220And then the last place where capitalism still rules and free markets
00:42:12.440and we're not, you know, infected by this insanity of wokeism
00:48:21.040sort of making fun of them so i guess i'm i'm i'm maybe pushing the rules a little bit but
00:48:26.640they have a whole page on elections integrity right and and i've said this before like the
00:48:32.400more somebody tries to convince me that they're by the book and everything is okay and and ethical
00:48:37.760and legal and moral and and transparent the more i get suspicious so maybe that's me that's the
00:48:44.160little suspicious side of me that's like why are they doing this why are they feeling like they
00:48:48.240need to go over the top and convince us that that everything is hunky dory. All right. Well, let's
00:48:56.400I'll try and stretch this last little bit. Well, actually, not let let me go there because we
00:49:04.840we kind of touched on it. The bank. No, we didn't touch on it. Bank of Canada. So we had by elections
00:49:11.460on Monday. We have the trade war. We have all sorts of things. And then we have the Bank of
00:49:16.580Canada comes out in the middle of all of this and announces that they're keeping the rate,
00:49:21.160the overnight rate, they call it steady at 2.25. So 2.25. So that's seven. The bank meets eight
00:49:30.000times a year, roughly every two months or every six weeks. And then they adjust the rate. Well,
00:49:35.780they haven't adjusted the rate in seven sessions in a row now. So it's been almost just over a
00:49:42.780year that we've been at 2.25 and tim macklin goes out of the the the commissioner or the governor
00:49:51.260of the bank of canada does this press conference and then he talks about how interest or how
00:49:57.220inflation is you know above the target range of two percent stuck at three uh lots of uncertainty
00:50:03.520with the price of fuel and stuff like that blah blah blah blah blah and uh basically signals that
00:50:08.780the economy is doing, is in trouble, but at the same time, he's sending mixed signals because
00:50:18.540when you send, when you keep the bank rate low like that, you're basically trying to add
00:50:26.080supply to the whole supply and demand side. And you're trying to kickstart the economy is what
00:50:35.840you're doing if the economy was really really good you want to slow it down a little bit and
00:50:40.900increase the um the interest rates and behind the scenes um what we call corporate bonds and
00:50:49.720government bonds and other bonds are going up slowly and that you know once in a while those
00:50:54.280are the important things right if the bank's going one way but the private sector is going another
00:50:59.060who are you going to believe right the thousands of investors not the thousands the millions of
00:51:04.780investors that make up the private sector and the market, we call it, or the guy from the Bank of
00:51:09.960Canada. And so just pay attention to that, folks. It's a mixed signal. And again, I think who
00:51:18.720benefits from a low interest rate more than anybody else? It's the government of Canada,
00:51:23.360because they got to service that debt right now. And there's supposed to be an arm's length
00:51:27.280relationship between the governor of the Bank of Canada and the prime minister of Canada.
00:51:32.140And I'm not sure that that arm's length is exactly there.
00:51:38.100And I think TIFF is between a rock and a hard place.
00:51:40.940And he's keeping interest rates low, which helps a few consumers, the ones who are about to renew their mortgages.
00:51:48.540But more than anybody else, it helps the government of Canada with its debt servicing and its ability to issue more currency and do the things it wants to do and spend.
00:51:59.000So I found that whole thing interesting.
00:52:03.620And again, so when you look at all the pieces together,
00:52:22.620Last thing I wanted to talk about is independence.
00:52:25.800I'll do my I'll talk a little bit about independence. So the vote on independence, the referendum is on October 19. So that's coming up where it's less than 60 days away. We did say everybody take a break, relax, re-energize. I get asked that question a lot. Is there going to be how's the push going to be in the next couple of weeks?
00:52:49.460I think you're going to see a really strong push now to get those voters, you know, like I said, there's the 30% voters that are, they're not interested, they're staying in Canada, the guys that wear these shirts, that's 30%.
00:53:06.160There's the 30% in my camp, the hardcore people that are already decided no matter what, they want to kick at independence, and then there's that middle 40.
00:53:14.800So we got to convince that middle 40 in the next 50 days.
00:53:20.360And I think we're going to see that start in earnest right away here.
00:53:26.100And interestingly, now is when you see all the polls
00:53:31.620and all the surveys that are going to come out
00:53:33.280and all the attacks are going to start getting vicious.
00:53:36.300And I just wanted to single out one weird thing going on right now.
00:53:41.340Now, Jason Kenney, who got 51% in his last leadership review
00:53:50.300and stepped down because 51% wasn't enough,
00:53:54.420Jason Kenney is now paired up with Rachel Notley, right?
00:53:59.440Jason Kenney and Rachel Notley are now co-chairs of an upcoming conference
00:55:29.140And now, while we always had Jason Kenney, which I think was unusual, and now we got Rachel Notley. So it's making for some really interesting bedfellows that are getting together that are fighting Alberta independence.
00:55:43.680i i'm i'm i'm glad still at this point that there isn't a single leader in the alberta
00:55:51.280independence movement because um you know that person would be attacked viciously because it's
00:55:57.040the the two sides are it's unfair but pay attention to that right i've i've been saying that
00:56:03.140and and the part that i hate to admit now is i resisted folks who kept talking about the uniparty
00:56:10.980federally speaking that they're all part of the same group but now i'm i'm almost having to believe
00:56:17.040it when i'm seeing it with my own eyes how they're all ganging up and and and collaborating
00:56:22.280together i mean i did not have that on my bingo card i did not have jason kenny and rachel nartley
00:56:29.420shaking hands almost embracing each other and holding a conference against alberta independence
00:56:34.940I did not have that on my bingo card. And then aside from that, watching Jason Kenney online, some of you are probably not online, but watching Jason Kenney online systematically attack so many conservative influencers.
00:56:50.040He came after me a while ago, and I guess he realized I wasn't worth going after because I don't support Pierre Poilievre, right?
00:56:58.380But now any strong conservative influencer, the Mark Nixons of the world, the Jasmine Lanes, the Pleb, those folks, they're being attacked.
00:57:10.480So the conservative influencers who support Pierre Poilievre, they're being attacked hard by Carney.
00:57:15.660So Carney is playing a double agenda right now.
