Western Standard - Trump is Carney’s political best friend ｜ @CoryMorgan

00:00:00.000 And Carney's majority is weak. You know, it's only a couple of seats. It's still a majority,

00:00:04.820 but you know, he'd be much more comfortable if he had a 20 seat majority. Then he'd have no fear of

00:00:10.860 putting whatever his agenda may be. And we know it tends not to be a good agenda on the table.

00:00:15.820 And he's got this trade war going on. I mean, we know how the politics works. We know how it goes.

00:00:23.400 They'll just say, look, something is so important. It's going on and everything,

00:00:26.400 but we need a mandate, a strong mandate to take this approach to the trade war and deal with that

00:00:31.700 external threat and that big orange boogeyman down south and everything. We need to take it to 0.89

00:00:37.060 Canadians and he'll take it to them. And I think he's going to do it perhaps even as early as in

00:00:41.400 a month or two. Cause you got to remember too, Trump politically is Carney's best friend. He's

00:00:49.820 been political gold for Carney. He is the reason that things turned around so dramatically for the

00:00:57.800 Liberals a year and a half ago, more than, you know, almost two years ago, really, when it all

00:01:02.040 started hitting, when Trump came back in and took on such a heavy tariff and aggressive approach

00:01:09.380 with Canada. I mean, at first, that's kind of what brought Trudeau down, because people realized,

00:01:13.280 well, boy, we've got a big issue coming, and we can't have that dingbat Trudeau managing things.

00:01:19.100 he does not have the depth to deal with this. So he was plummeting. But then Kearney stepped in.

00:01:25.800 People thought, there's a guy we can rally around. There's one who'll save us from the big bad

00:01:30.360 orange man. And it worked. It kept them in there. And you know what? People, when they see an

00:01:35.060 external threat, when they see something outside, whether it's a kinetic war, a real war, or a trade

00:01:40.580 war like this, they stick to the tried and true. They stick to what they know, at least in central

00:01:47.080 Canada, they sure do. And that's worked for Carney. If they get resolution, now you got to

00:01:54.360 think if it's four years between elections, Trump's going to be going out the door by the time Carney

00:01:59.040 faces the electorate again. Would he want to have a general election without having that excellent

00:02:05.680 asset in his pocket while going into the polls? Much easier just to call it right now, get her

00:02:13.100 done and then buy himself a majority for four to five years to do whatever the heck he pleases

00:02:18.440 I suspect it's coming we'll see what happens but I got a feeling we're coming into a federal campaign
