00:00:00.000 And just here behind me is Pierre Polyev, Conservative leader, who is just paused here right in front of the Western Standard.
00:00:08.520 He'll give us a wave here.
00:00:10.940 Hi. Great. How are you doing, Mr. Polyev? Great to see you as well. Our pleasure. Yeah, thank you.
00:00:17.580 What's your name?
00:00:18.340 Jen Hodgson from the Western Standard.
00:00:19.820 Right on. How's your stampede going?
00:00:21.960 Very fun so far. Yes, that would be great. Yeah, thank you.
00:00:25.440 So we have Mr. Polyev here on the horse. So you've been out here campaigning in Alberta in the riding that you're running for. Tell us about that.
00:00:32.800 It's been going great. We started in Drumheller on Canada Day, and we went up to Hannah, Dinalda, Killam, Statler.
00:00:41.620 We went up all the way to Camrose and a bunch of other wonderful communities in between.
00:00:47.240 And people want to fight for oil and gas, for farming, for our soldiers in Wainwright.
00:00:52.100 And it's so great to be back in my home province to fight for the values and the people that I love.
00:00:57.960 That's great to hear. What are you hearing from people when you knock on their doors?
00:01:01.620 Well, they want us to produce more of our oil and gas.
00:01:04.680 Hardesty, which is in Battle River Crowfoot, is probably the biggest energy hub in Canada, maybe in North America.
00:01:12.060 And they could be pumping more oil into more pipelines if we could get them built.
00:01:16.000 That's something that needs to happen. We need to repeal the gun laws, let people legally enjoy their property in a responsible way.
00:01:24.080 They also want to lock up the repeat offenders. Rural crime is on the rise.
00:01:28.740 People are, you know, they're stealing copper wire.
00:01:30.600 They're going on to people's farms in the middle of the night, stealing other property.
00:01:35.220 And it's not safe like it used to be.
00:01:37.220 So they want safety, freedom, and prosperity.
00:01:40.520 And it's the greatest people. It's a community that feeds, powers, and protects the nation.
00:01:45.940 And it would be an honour to represent those wonderful people in Canada's Parliament, God willing, if they should so choose.
00:01:53.420 Amazing. Great to hear. Thank you very much, Mr. Polyev.
00:01:55.800 Great to be back home.
00:01:57.100 Wonderful. You two all the best. Thank you.
00:02:00.560 So we just spoke with Pierre Polyev, Conservative leader.
00:02:04.380 There's going to be a by-election in August.
00:02:07.800 And so he's been out here the last few days, campaigning, knocking on doors.
00:02:13.100 What he has heard is that people in Alberta want to see pipelines built.
00:02:19.220 They want to see the oil and gas industry booming.
00:02:22.160 They want to see all of this crime that has been on the rise in the last several years to be taken care of.
00:02:28.360 So he said that he's received positive feedback.
00:02:30.860 He's out here enjoying the stampede.
00:02:32.900 And we'll keep following up with him for more.
00:02:37.800 Thank you.
