Western Standard - Serious issues facing Canada while Trudeau dances

00:00:00.000 Let's talk about one of my favorite subjects, and that's Justin Trudeau.

00:00:03.100 So Canada, it needs a serious leader, and it hasn't had one for a decade.

00:00:08.000 So I mean, when the world was mocking Justin Trudeau last weekend as he was dancing the

00:00:11.860 night away with pubescent girls while Montreal burned, the issue wasn't that people don't 0.84

00:00:16.680 feel he has the right to enjoy a night out with his daughter.

00:00:19.360 It's just that it provided the perfect metaphor for his entire term in office.

00:00:23.140 Whenever large, complicated, and important issues challenged Canada, Trudeau steps out

00:00:27.800 and pulls some sort of infantile stunt.

00:00:30.340 Remember the first Truth and Reconciliation Day when he went out surfing?

00:00:34.640 But Trudeau apparently recently suffered a near political death experience last month when

00:00:39.260 a small caucus revolt appeared to be beginning.

00:00:41.600 So in a closed door meeting, Trudeau turned it all on, including even turning on the tears,

00:00:45.420 I guess, as he tried to convince his caucus he has a plan to pull the Liberal Party back

00:00:49.300 from the brink of electoral obliteration within a year.

00:00:52.100 With a month to work on it, Trudeau and Freeland released a grand plan to selectively give Canadians

00:00:58.280 a two-month break on GST payments while issuing checks in April for $250 to selected Canadians

00:01:04.560 at a cost of somewhere around $4 billion.

00:01:07.940 Liberal caucus members were surely crying themselves to sleep upon realizing just how bad the bill

00:01:12.200 of goods Trudeau sold them was.

00:01:14.340 Trudeau's plan reeks of shallow political opportunism as he tries to buy the love of Canadians with

00:01:18.480 their own money.

00:01:19.480 He's been doggedly claiming the GST break will help Canadians struggling with the purchases

00:01:23.420 and necessities, but this break doesn't apply to necessities.

00:01:26.480 Trudeau's GST holiday applies to beer, fast food, crossword, puzzles, and Christmas trees.

00:01:32.680 Won't exactly help you struggling to pay the rent.

00:01:35.340 The ill-conceived policy drops an accounting nightmare upon retailers.

00:01:38.480 Now businesses have to change their accounting and billing systems to temporarily offer a break

00:01:42.360 over two reporting periods on certain items while leaving the tax alone on others.

00:01:46.760 In provinces with a blended sales tax system, the problem becomes even more nightmarish.

00:01:51.560 This foolish stunt is going to cost untold cumulative millions for the extra bookkeeping

00:01:56.280 and accounting costs for small businesses that are already struggling in Canada's lagging 0.52

00:02:00.040 economy while offering negligible benefits to them through any increased sales.

00:02:03.980 I mean, come on, who's going to change their shopping habits on small purchases due to a

00:02:07.680 5% break?

00:02:08.620 And those who are making big purchases, well, they're just going to defer them into that

00:02:11.580 two-month period, but we're not creating new sales and a few people are going to be realizing

00:02:15.620 any real savings.

00:02:17.120 The Trudeau payout in April is even more crass and simplistic than the GST holiday.

00:02:20.920 The government's going to sink us, yes, more than $4 billion into debt to pay certain

00:02:24.740 Canadians $250.

00:02:26.300 Senior citizens, though, many of them, disabled people, students, other Canadians reliant on

00:02:32.420 social services, guess what?

00:02:33.440 They're not going to get the payment.

00:02:34.680 In other words, the dingbat omitted the very people who would need such a payment while

00:02:37.960 giving a check to others who are making as much as $150,000 a year.

00:02:43.020 I mean, these payments shouldn't be going out at all.

00:02:44.840 But if you must, you should be targeting the people who need them most desperately. 1.00

00:02:48.480 Trudeau did the opposite because he's a twit. 0.98

00:02:51.280 Trudeau's disconnect with common Canadians was well displayed, though, with his little 0.99

00:02:54.320 Taylor Swift performance.

00:02:55.800 I mean, tickets for that concert ranged in the thousands, and most Canadians couldn't

00:02:58.880 even dream of being able to send their daughter to it.

00:03:01.260 Trudeau had the means to attend, and hey, good for him.

00:03:02.920 That's fine.

00:03:04.100 He should have been cognizant of how it looks, though, and avoided his conspicuous consumption

00:03:08.400 just after he was saying he was going to save Christmas by giving us a 5% break on board

00:03:12.660 games.

00:03:13.380 The reason Trudeau couldn't stay in the background during the concert, though, was the same reason

00:03:16.500 he had to steal the spotlight with an impromptu karaoke performance during Queen Elizabeth's

00:03:20.740 funeral.

00:03:21.360 Because it's all about him.

00:03:22.960 Trudeau's an insecure man-child and needs constant affirmation through public attention.

00:03:26.920 He must always be the center of attention.

00:03:28.940 Thus, he was wandering the crowds of the Taylor Swift concert and exchanging friendship bracelets.

00:03:32.480 When he could have just been taking in the show from a private box without garnering notice.

00:03:36.620 The issues are catching up to Canada, thanks to a decade of Trudeau's vacuous and directionless

00:03:41.160 leadership.

00:03:42.140 Our GDP per capita has plummeted when compared to the United States' permissive policies

00:03:45.960 with addicts, foreign interference, criminals, mass immigration.

00:03:49.180 They've led us to having crime-ridden, degraded urban centers and the open targeting of Canada's 0.70

00:03:54.260 Jewish communities by unchecked pro-Hamas hate mobs.

00:03:57.480 It's been making headlines around the world.

00:03:59.340 We're becoming an international laughingstock.

00:04:00.900 And Canada's getting roasted for not pulling its weight with NATO due to the Canadian military

00:04:05.280 being underfunded and overwhelmed with DEI policies under Trudeau's government.

00:04:09.080 In short, Trudeau has deferred every tough task in front of him since becoming Prime Minister

00:04:13.420 and now the nation is a mess.

00:04:15.720 In the meantime, Donald Trump smells blood.

00:04:18.260 And he's signaling a tough stance, including tariffs as high as 25% if Canada doesn't get

00:04:22.700 its act together.

00:04:23.280 And I can't think of anybody worse than Justin Trudeau to deal with our largest trading partner.

00:04:27.100 Not only is Trudeau too dimmed to deal with the intricacies of trade, economy, and

00:04:30.600 diplomacy, but he's poisoned the waters through antagonizing Trump for years.

00:04:34.900 Who could forget Trudeau embarrassing Canada as he was caught on a hot mic tittering like

00:04:38.340 a schoolgirl and gossiping about Trump at a NATO summit in 2019?

00:04:42.620 You know, Trump hasn't forgotten it.

00:04:44.420 Canada's swirling the drain in many ways, and it's going to take a lot of work to pull

00:04:47.540 the country out of this death spiral.

00:04:48.920 Nothing's going to be accomplished, though, until Canada's biggest problem is removed.

00:04:53.660 And that problem is Justin Trudeau.

00:04:55.340 With every week that incompetent man remains at the helm, Canada is going to sink deeper,

00:04:59.540 as does its world reputation.

00:05:01.440 The best time to get rid of Trudeau was yesterday.

00:05:03.300 The next best time is now.

00:05:05.460 We've got to get that man out of there, guys.

00:05:07.140 Because you know what?

00:05:08.020 Things can always get worse.

00:05:09.960 Things can always get worse.
