00:00:00.000 God save our gracious Queen. No, I won't force viewers to listen to too much singing, but it is the big day, the big kickoff of the Queen's 70th Platinum Jubilee today.
00:00:14.000 And what scenes of pageantry we had in London this morning. And unbelievable. Nobody does pageantry like the Brits core, even old commercially Canadian like you can admit that.
00:00:25.200 So our Amanda Brown has got to wrap up on the website already on what's happening across Alberta.
00:00:30.940 There's things happening all over the province in celebration this weekend of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
00:00:38.220 So check it out and maybe indulge in a celebration or two.
00:00:42.620 Other stuff we've got on the website right now is those all those wacky guys from PETA.
00:00:47.680 They've written a letter to Kevin Costner saying, hey, please don't come to the Stampede as as parade marshal because Stampede does nasty things.
00:00:55.200 to animals. Well, it's utterly ridiculous. Nobody looks after their livestock better than than the Stampede. 0.99
00:01:02.880 We've got a really good column from Dave Makachuk on the site right now.
00:01:06.680 There was reports yesterday that Chinese fighter pilots were buzzing our one lone Canadian aircraft out patrolling around North Korean waters.
00:01:18.460 And a Macachuk to call him basically talks about the sad demise of Canada's standing in the in the international world.
00:01:26.940 We're no longer sort of considered a, you know, to be invited to the table.
00:01:31.980 It's it's it's the Brits, it's the Australians and it's it's the Americans and nobody wants Canada on their team.
00:01:38.960 So it's a very good and very, very sad read.
00:01:42.900 Our Matthew Horwood in Ottawa has done a story on Bill Garneau.
00:01:47.180 You'll remember him as the, I guess, disgraced former federal finance minister after the Wee scandal.
00:01:53.760 He had a speech last night saying he's kind of worried about the direction that that Canada is going financially.
00:01:58.960 So, so that's very interesting and Pierre Polyev table to private members bill, sort of asking for all the vaccine mandates on travelers to be withdrawn.
00:02:10.840 Sadly, Corey, you know what happens to most private members bills.
00:02:14.560 They get they get absolutely nowhere.
00:02:18.240 And our Mike Thomas has got the May MLS report on Calgary home sales cooling a little bit, but still still throbbing along nicely.
00:02:26.920 So, so that's what we've got up at the moment.
00:02:30.020 Our glorious leader, Prime Minister Trudeau, is at this moment out in the six-sicket lands handing out a billion dollars or more to settle a land claim there.
00:02:40.420 So our Amanda Brown is is covering that. 1.00
00:02:42.960 And we'll have that up on the website shortly, too, Corey.
00:02:46.200 Yeah, you know, it's funny you bring that up.
00:02:48.120 I have a poster I've had since I was a kid in Banff that was from Banff Indian days, which used to be held.
00:02:53.500 Some people might remember way back.
00:02:54.860 It was a tradition for decades and decades.
00:02:57.360 And 1977 was the very last one that was ever held.
00:03:00.460 And this protest or protest poster depicted an image of Queen Victoria and Chief Crowfoot, you know, the original signing of Treaty 7 and the whole works.
00:03:10.840 And either way, it was a celebration of the monarchy and the agreement at that time.
00:03:14.180 Now, you know, we've got Trudeau just on his chronic apology tour.
00:03:19.080 But getting on to that, I'm just wondering, has there been any acknowledgement of the Queen's Jubilee by Justin Trudeau?
00:03:24.180 Has he even taken notice of this?
00:03:26.900 No, not really.
00:03:27.800 In fact, his government has turned down the opportunity to hand out Platinum Jubilee medals to deserving people.
00:03:35.300 A few provinces have gone ahead and done their own, but Trudeau nationally turned it down.
00:03:41.660 So I guess you can tell where his mind is.
00:03:44.460 Yeah, well, unity, pride and outside authorities aren't things that he likes much in this nation, I'm afraid.
00:03:50.040 No.
00:03:50.580 And if you don't mind, I'm going to be sneaking out early.
00:03:53.460 Go get some Swiss chalet.
00:03:55.160 OK, perfect.
00:03:56.160 Well, that's covering two observances with one stone.
00:03:58.980 Now, that's efficiency if I've ever seen it.
00:04:00.880 There you go.
00:04:01.440 That's why I get the big bucks.
00:04:02.800 Right on.
00:04:03.180 Thanks, Dave.
00:04:03.680 I'll talk to you later.
00:04:04.840 Thanks, Corey.
