00:00:00.000 After eight years of this Prime Minister, Canadians have never struggled more with
00:00:05.000 paying for groceries, paying for rent and paying to put gas in their cars.
00:00:10.000 Everything is more expensive and this government still plans to increase their ideological carbon tax.
00:00:17.000 This tax has done nothing to reduce emissions and has made everything more expensive.
00:00:22.000 When will the Liberals abandon their cruel carbon tax and let Conservatives fix what they broke?
00:00:29.000 Mr. Speaker, for most of us in this House and most Canadians, there is the reality of climate change.
00:00:34.000 And where facts do matter, I know it not for everyone.
00:00:37.000 The facts are, Mr. Speaker, greenhouse gas emissions are down 9% below 2005 level. That's a fact.
00:00:45.000 Methane emissions in the oil and gas sector are down almost 40% two years before schedule.
00:00:52.000 That's another fact, Mr. Speaker.
00:00:54.000 EV sales in Canada have doubled in the last few years. That's another fact, Mr. Speaker.
00:00:59.000 And I would like that they won't take it from meat, they won't take it from environmentalists.
00:01:03.000 Maybe they'll take it from the oil sands pathway.
00:01:05.000 Mr. Speaker, taxing Canadians to death is not going to fix the climate.
00:01:09.000 That's right.
00:01:10.000 Statistics Canada is reporting that a quarter of Canadians would not be able to afford a sudden expense of $500.
00:01:17.000 Yet this government still plans to triple the carbon tax on April 1st.
00:01:24.000 If this government would only cancel their plans to increase the carbon tax this year, Canadians would be able to afford to pay their bills once again.
00:01:32.000 When will this Prime Minister take responsibility for overtaxing Canadians into poverty and let Conservatives fix what they broke?
00:01:42.000 Mr. Speaker, who said about our climate change plan, emission reduction plan provides the cement industry with predictability.
00:01:48.000 The Electrical Association of Canada welcomed the Strategic Renewables and Electrification Pathways program.
00:01:54.000 The oil sands pathways, the five largest oil sands producers in the country, Mr. Speaker, said with positive industry and government collaboration,
00:02:02.000 Canada has an incredible opportunity to help provide global energy security while being a leader in producing clean energy.
00:02:09.000 That is what we're doing on this side of the house, Mr. Speaker.
00:02:11.000 We're fighting climate change and we're creating jobs and the economy of the 25th.
