00:00:00.000 From the Western Standard, here's your news update.
00:00:08.120 I'm your host, Western Standard Chief Editor Dave Naylor, and here's what you need to know.
00:00:14.040 A petition to stop funding to Alberta private schools has fallen well short of its needed
00:00:20.140 signatures. The Federal Heritage Department has released a list of notable Muslims in Canada,
00:00:26.380 and it's dominated by Liberal and NDP politicians. Alberta NDP leader Naheed Nenshi made the list,
00:00:34.240 as did Calgary Flame Nazeem Qadri. No Conservative politicians made the cut.
00:00:41.040 Residents of Tumblr Ridge gathered Wednesday for a candlelight vigil to remember the eight
00:00:45.840 victims of a mass shooting. The Western Standard's Will Vasseur was there, and he will continue to
00:00:51.880 file stories throughout the day. And the Alberta government will announce their plans on how to
00:00:58.100 get classroom sizes under control at a press conference later Thursday afternoon.
