In this episode, CNN's Jake Tapper and CNN's Dana Bash join me to discuss the upcoming Democratic presidential primary debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. We discuss the differences between the two candidates and what to expect from each of them on the debate stage.
00:30:56.000I think if you fall into the category of critic, that might mean journalist, might be an opposition leader, might mean prosecutor, might mean witness, might mean juror, might mean anybody.
00:31:05.480I think there's some threat that Donald Trump will come for you or the Trump administration will come for you.
00:31:11.520Now, I know a lot of these folks who also shared your same concerns about Donald Trump have sort of said, all right, we're rallying around Donald Trump.
00:31:19.580You had said, though, that would not be the case with you.
00:31:22.500You had said that he's a populist and an authoritarian narcissist, that character is too important to me, and it's a job that requires the kind of character he just doesn't have.
00:32:01.000I think it's a contribution of factors.
00:32:02.300But I think it really is just character at the end of the day.
00:32:04.660And the fact that if you're willing to put yourself above the Constitution, an oath you swear when you take office in federal office, whether it's president or a member of Congress, you swear an oath to the Constitution.
00:32:13.340And if you're willing to suborn it to yourself, I think that makes you unfit for office.
00:32:17.920So I want you to start out with that Fox News poll.
00:32:21.340This would suggest I know it's only one poll, but this would suggest with some other evidence that there's been some movement towards Joe Biden since the felony conviction of President Trump.
00:32:44.460And take a look from the first of the month where it's Trump up by one, Trump up by two, Trump up by one, Biden up by one, a tie, Trump up by two, Biden up by two, tie, Biden up by two.
00:32:55.660So there's been a trend since the May 30th guilty verdict in the New York case.
00:33:01.540In fact, if you look at the real clear politics national average, which is 11 polls national average, it's Trump up by one half of one percent.
00:33:11.620And if you look inside that of the 11 polls, number nine, excuse me, number 11 has them up by five points.
00:33:19.320And excuse me, number nine has them up by five points and number 11 has them up by two.
00:33:23.380When those get moved out, assuming that we continue to see close numbers, we're likely to see that lead dissipate because the most recent polls have had Biden ahead.
00:33:35.280Karl Rove goes on and says Trump's not going to win and not going to win in November.
00:33:39.620So you see, this is Fox making their move.
00:34:43.400And look, what I want to focus on is Speaker Paul Ryan, who said character was the reason he did not vote for Donald Trump and will not support Donald Trump.
00:34:52.740Well, let's look at your character, Speaker Paul Ryan, and rewind the tape to 2016.
00:34:57.580And I remind your audience, nobody knew the depths of Russiagate then.
00:35:01.180Nobody knew that the FBI, the Hillary Clinton campaign, the DNC, and so many others in the media collaborated to unlawfully surveil Trump's campaign.
00:35:09.920It was being done under the cabal at the FBI, DOJ, and mainstream media.
00:35:15.180But once the Steele dossier was leaked by BuzzFeed in January of 2017, Paul Ryan, as Speaker of the House, ordered his Select Committee on Intelligence to investigate fully all matters related to Russia collusion and the Russian investigation and the Steele dossier.
00:35:32.580And this, again, was before anyone knew that the FBI FISA's against Trump campaign were soaked with remnants and lies from the Steele dossier.
00:35:42.880So I was brought on as a chief investigator, and our mandate was simple, find out the truth.
00:35:47.500Who is connected to the Steele dossier?
00:36:00.940Paul Ryan and his chief of staff were one of the first people at the end of 2016, early 2017, to get the entire Steele dossier.
00:36:09.500They got their eyes and ears on the entire Steele dossier.
00:36:13.380As Speaker of the House, he ordered us to investigate the Steele dossier and never told us he possessed it the entire time, or at least its contents.
00:36:23.400And his chief of staff then would go on the air and issue the ultimate D.C. deflection by stating, oh, I didn't get it from Christopher Steele directly.
00:36:31.880And this was resulting litigation in British and American courts for my investigation of Russiagate that forced Jonathan Burks, Paul Ryan's then chief of staff, to say, but I didn't know about it.
00:36:43.160You mean we reported to you, the Speaker of the House, and his chief of staff directly, as is pursuant to the chain of command in Congress, and you sat there and lied to us for a year every week when we told you we were taking apart the Steele dossier page by page?
00:36:56.820You had it? We would have asked him who gave it to you. Why did you take it? Why didn't you tell us? Was there money involved?
00:37:02.780There's so many other questions, and this guy, Paul Ryan, wants to talk to us today about Donald Trump's character.
00:37:08.500You, as the Speaker of the House of the United States Congress, lied to the American people and jerry-rigged an investigation before it ever started because you despised Donald Trump.
00:37:17.500You have an ultimate failure in a leadership position in service to this country, and your character has been blown open completely by your unethical, unlawful, and untruthful conduct.
00:37:30.640And Speaker Paul Ryan and his chief of staff and others need to be put under oath immediately.
00:37:34.680Immediately. And didn't he also force one of the smartest guys I've known about intelligence, Devin Nunez?
00:37:44.200Didn't he force Nunez, knowing what he knew about the Steele dossier and didn't tell the Intelligence Committee chief investigator, didn't tell the Republican head chairman of the committee?
00:37:54.260He then forced Nunez to recuse himself and turned it over essentially to Shifty.
00:37:59.880I was there. I got, I think, grilled for over 20 hours or 25 hours, something like that, in front of the House Intelligence Committee.
00:38:07.580It was, I can tell you, it was run by Shifty's shift in Swalwell.
00:38:12.140The Republicans just kind of sat there with the goofball that's over at Fox now that did the Benghazi screw-up.
00:38:19.320They were just sitting there like little lambs.
00:38:21.100That didn't Paul Ryan force Nunez off to turn it over to Shifty's shift into Swalwell, sir?
00:38:31.020Again, reminding your audience, in 2017, at the end of 2016, beginning of 2017, we hadn't exposed Russiagate yet.
00:38:39.060The Nunez memo that we would write would come a year later.
00:38:42.860I quarterbacked 70 interrogations under oath.
00:38:45.320Everyone on the Hillary Clinton campaign, from John Podesta, Mark Elias, Fusion GPS, and Steele's partners, we questioned them under oath.
00:38:53.180We reported that to Paul Ryan and his chief of staff every single week, every time I wanted a subpoena, every time I wanted to take any action.
00:39:01.500I had to go to the speaker because that was a chain of command.
00:39:04.000It was his select committee on intelligence.
00:39:05.960He gave the mandate, but he rigged it before the investigation even started.
00:39:10.020And then, after the investigation started, Chairman Nunez was forced aside temporarily, and now we are starting to learn the depths of the depravity of the Speaker of the House, then Paul Ryan.
00:39:20.060And we should start talking about his character, since he likes to throw that in our face on the mainstream media about how we don't have character.
00:39:25.700The only thing I've ever cared about is the truth.
00:39:28.100And the only thing I ever cared about at Russiagate and the deal I made with Devin Nunez was whatever we find, because I didn't know Donald Trump then and never spoken to him, whatever we find is the truth and we're putting it out.
00:39:37.220It is just shocking even to me to find out that Paul Ryan hid from us, us, his chairman and his chief investigator on Intel who ran Russiagate, hid from us the truth, and his chief of staff and him lied to the world about it for years.
00:39:50.420The day of reckoning has to come, and the media must call him out for it, whether it's MSNBC, CNN, Fox, or anywhere else.
00:39:56.700The truth is the only thing that matters, and we now have caught the Speaker of the House destroying the truth for political personal gain.
00:40:03.100And so I'm done listening to him about his lectures of character in Donald Trump.
00:40:07.220Cash, where do we get – you've got the new movie Government of Gangsters coming out.
00:40:12.300We're going to announce a bunch of details of the premiere this week.
00:40:15.440All your writings, everything, where do people go?
00:40:18.280Well, yeah, just go to at Cash on Truth Social.
00:40:20.300Check out the op-ed, Steve, that we just launched this morning thanks to our partners at Gateway Pundit who had the courage to put this out there and you and the War Room Posse for blasting it out.
00:40:28.960I can't stress enough, the Russiagate investigation was the most consequential oversight investigation of our times, and the individual that authorized it, Paul Ryan, then Speaker of the House, rigged it before it started because he and his team got their hands on the Steele dossier before anyone knew anything about the Steele dossier and lied about it for years.
00:40:49.180Check it out at at Cash on Truth Social and over at Gateway Pundit.
00:40:52.140And the War Room Posse, let's go pound the truth and the pavement for Donald Trump.
00:41:17.560Congressman Good, I am more freaked out now on Monday morning than I was on the first day of this, and I'm concerned about November when I see what's happening.
00:41:26.020Just get us up to date on the facts and details of – it looks like a fiasco in Virginia 5 to run a primary, sir.
00:41:34.220Yeah, the bottom line is we can't certify this election.
00:41:37.140There's great concern of inappropriate activity relative to the biggest city in the district, Lynchburg City.
00:41:46.600There's no accountability for when those boxes were opened.
00:41:49.440They were apparently left to be stuffed for two or three days after the election.
00:41:53.760There's no accountability for who opened those, how many ballots came out.
00:41:57.120And actually, you've had both sides in the city council races, those supporting me and those supporting my opponent, who've acknowledged the lack of integrity, lack of security with the drop boxes in Lynchburg.
00:42:06.260Again, the biggest city in the district.
00:42:07.700I won that city, but we didn't win it by the margin we thought we would.
00:42:11.220But apparently, it's my home base, my home city where I grew up.
00:42:31.860Our processes in place are designed for those who are honest, those who are fair, those who want integrity.
00:42:38.360It'd be like running the bank, Steve, with no locks on the door, no security, no guards, nothing like that, and assuming no one would ever steal money from the bank.
00:42:45.540That's how our election processes are working, or I should say not working right now.
00:42:49.320And so this race, as you know, has national implications.
00:42:52.640Conservatives across the country, millions are furious about this race, hundreds of thousands in Virginia.
00:42:58.180Unfortunately, if my opponent were to prevail, it would impact the president in Virginia.
00:43:01.640It would put this seat vulnerable on the Republican side in November if my opponent were to prevail.
00:43:07.100So we're going to do everything, Steve, to try to block certification this election, to have a full investigation of the evidence of some potential malfeasance here,
00:43:15.180and make sure this election actually reflects the intent of the voters who legitimately and legally participated.
00:43:22.360Congressman, just hang over one second for the break.
00:45:13.520Just what is the certification process?
00:45:16.400I thought canvassing was finished today.
00:45:17.940I don't know how you certify when you have all these discrepancies in Lynchburg.
00:45:23.140And people got to get this sorted because November, Virginia is in play.
00:45:26.920And the 5th District is absolutely critical and a huge turnout of MAGA in November is critical for President Trump to be competitive and maybe even take Virginia.
00:45:37.300If you take Virginia, you've changed the dynamics of the entire race, sir.
00:45:44.020And we're going to be making the legal challenge in the next couple of days to demonstrate that Lynchburg, the biggest city, can't be certified.
00:45:49.360There's other concerns across the district with the results.
00:45:54.460There's no confidence in Lynchburg's results from either side, quite frankly, on the city council basis along with the congressional basis.
00:46:00.760Steve, but we cannot win if we're going to elect swamp creatures.
00:46:03.740Just look at who's supporting my opponent.
00:46:05.480It is the Paul Ryan, Kevin McCarthy, Eric Cantor types, the swamp folks, the rhinos for whom the endless wars, allegiance to the industrial military complex.
00:46:16.840He would vote very differently than me in Washington.
00:46:19.000I hate to be crass about it, Steve, but we depleted resources trying to win this primary.
00:46:22.740We believe we did win the primary, even though we're vastly outspent.
00:46:25.820I need help funding the recount challenge, the challenge to the certification, the challenge to getting a hand count, a paper ballot match to this, Steve.
00:46:34.120So go to bobgoodforcongress.com slash recount.
00:46:36.960Support this effort if you want true conservators to win and not swamp creatures, because that's what this race is about on a national basis.
00:46:45.340Congressman Good, thank you very much.
00:47:31.820We're burning daylight being down there.
00:47:34.700President Trump wanted to focus on Minnesota as other ones, obviously Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, where President Trump knew and had a feel because he's a field player.
00:48:05.380Because Paul Ryan told us we could not come to Wisconsin on the Sunday before the election because we're going to lose by three to five points.
00:48:13.380And he didn't want to be associated with it.
00:49:21.200So, Mark, I'm going to hold you to the break.
00:49:23.200First off, this is one of the most historic weeks in the history of the Supreme Court and therefore the country with the scale and number and importance of decisions coming up.
00:49:33.860I want to get to that in a second, but it's hard to shock me, brother.
00:49:38.280But the unrelenting attack, and they say we're the anti-institutionalists.
00:49:42.920The unrelenting attack on the institution of the Supreme Court and then particularly a couple of originalist justices is breathtaking.
00:50:08.820Steve, the left is determined to do everything they can to destroy Justice Thomas, including making the most dishonest chart I've ever seen.
00:50:18.340There is a story that went around a couple – about a week ago, a little bit more, about how Justice Thomas allegedly accepted $4.2 million in gifts.
00:50:26.060And then they compare it to other justices.
00:50:28.900And it's – every single aspect of this chart is false and deceptive and dishonest.
00:50:34.480You know, they count as gifts literally going to their friends Harlan and Kathy Crowe's home in the Adirondacks.
00:50:41.660As a gift, I think it was worth over $600,000, right?
00:50:46.400They count as a gift Justice Thomas going to an event to speak at a civil rights conference in 2022, but they – valued at $68,000.
00:50:55.880But they don't count the 230 trips that Justice Breyer took, including 17 funded by the Pritzker family, right, the billionaire Democrat Pritzker family, to fly them all around the world.
00:51:09.120And then the valuation of these gifts is just absurd and beyond absurd.
00:51:15.140They say that Justice Thomas' trip, again, with his friends to Indonesia cost – was a gift of $500,000, right, because they calculate it as him chartering the boat and the plane by himself.
00:51:29.440I mean, just absolutely absurd numbers.
00:51:31.840They count – a scholarship that was set up in Justice Thomas' son's name, right, didn't get any value from it, didn't get any money from it, as a gift to him for $35,000.
00:51:41.600But they don't count a gift that Justice Ginsburg received of $1 million that she distributed to her favorite charities and, by the way, made them promise to keep it secret.
00:51:53.560So it is the – they've literally constructed this chart to make Justice Thomas look, you know, terrible.
