00:00:40.320 Then as the hearing wrapped, when Maduro stood up to exit the courtroom, a man behind him provoked

00:00:45.800 him in Spanish, saying you will pay. Maduro turned around and responded back in Spanish,

00:00:51.040 telling him, I am a man of God. I am a prisoner of war. It has not even been 72 hours since Maduro and

00:01:00.520 his wife were taken from their home in their pajamas, seconds before trying to lock themselves

00:01:05.360 into a steel safe room. Taken from a palace with all the comforts of an authoritarian to a notorious

00:01:11.720 jail, infamous for what federal judges have called barbaric conditions. Allegations of freezing

00:01:18.060 temperatures, brown water, cockroaches on the food, mold in the shower, and medical conditions

00:01:23.440 that go untreated. Conditions victims of Maduro's regime will have no sympathy toward, as those who

00:01:30.280 fled Venezuela and those who remain celebrate his downfall. But what exactly happens to Venezuela now?

00:01:37.500 Maduro is gone, yes, but his regime is still very much in place. And it's still sounding a lot like

00:01:43.140 the guy who was just arraigned, saying Maduro is innocent, and he's still the president.

00:01:49.560 All right, ready. Whoa, wait a minute.

00:02:08.460 But I cannot abide the actions of the political leadership in Washington. These opportunists

00:02:14.800 are willing to hurt our people to score cheap points. They and their allies have no intention

00:02:41.560 governor, and I have every confidence that if I gave it my all, we would win the race.

00:02:51.220 conclusion that I can't give a political campaign my all. Every minute that I spend defending my own

00:02:58.180 political interest would be a minute I can't spend defending the people of Minnesota against the

00:03:03.300 criminals who prey on our generosity and the cynics who want to prey on our differences.

00:03:07.840 So I've decided to step out of this race, and I'll let others worry about the election while

00:04:57.960 now, based on sources telling MSNOW, that he sustained some injuries during the operation that

00:05:03.820 led to his being in domestic law enforcement custody. The same is true, according to her lawyers,

00:05:09.620 of his wife, Silvia Flores de Maduro, whose lawyers said that she sustained not only bruising on her

00:05:15.480 forehead, which was visible to everybody in the courtroom, but that she may have also sustained

00:05:19.680 a fracture to her ribs. Of course, both of them entering pleas of not guilty. And as you noted,

00:05:26.220 saying very firmly in Spanish that they are not guilty. But in many other respects, this was far from

00:05:32.860 ordinary. And obviously, the least ordinary moment was that confrontation that you mentioned between

00:05:38.180 a Venezuelan man who was there as a spectator and Nicolas Maduro. Our producer, Que Guerrero, and I had an

00:05:45.040 opportunity to interview Pedro Rojas. He is a Venezuelan national who is now applying for political

00:05:50.880 asylum. He is a member of a political opposition party in Venezuela called Primero Justicia, or Justice

00:05:57.060 First, and served four months in a Venezuelan prison for his political activities. He told us that it was

00:06:03.680 incredibly important to him to come here today and confront Nicolas Maduro to say to him, as you noted,

00:06:10.080 you will pay, because he felt that it was incredibly important, not just that Nicolas Maduro was held to

00:06:16.260 account by the U.S. justice system, but that someone from his own country, a country that, according to

00:06:21.460 Pedro, he has victimized and burglarized, was able to look him in the eye and tell him, you are illegitimate,

00:06:28.340 you are a burglar, you are a criminal. And of course, Maduro defiantly looking at him back and saying,

00:06:33.920 I'm a prisoner of war. Before Pedro was ejected from the courtroom, incredibly powerful discussion

00:06:48.160 with Pedro about what led him to come here today from Atlanta, where he operates a mechanics business,

00:06:55.100 basically doing mechanics work on cars. Woke up at four in the morning and took a flight here

00:06:59.980 for the specific purpose of having that historic confrontation with Maduro, the likes of which

00:07:10.500 the ordinary it is, I have attended a trial in this very courtroom. In fact, one of the E.G. Carroll

00:07:16.120 trials where the president's advisor, Stephen Chung, was kicked out of the courtroom because his phone

00:07:23.260 rang. Now contrast that with somebody standing up in the middle of the courtroom and wanting to have

00:07:29.520 words with a defendant, it was silent in the courtroom and people were watching as if it were a tennis

00:07:35.900 match, you know, heads going back and forth and back and forth to see the interplay between Mr. Maduro

00:07:41.260 and Mr. Rojas. They've chosen not to live this way anymore. And unlike Obama, President Trump has not

00:07:48.400 turned his back on the people of Iran. So I pray and hope that 2026 will be 0.57

00:30:23.680 machines in Venezuela. He had a, uh, had a, uh, a text of, uh, of a report by, I think it was Dr.

00:30:30.720 Michael Schur, who was the head of the, uh, Ben Laden, um, tracking group at the CIA at the time.

00:30:36.760 And he's, he's a left the CIA many years ago. And he's adamant that, uh, three November of 2020 was a

00:30:44.120 CIA driven coup. This is a guy that worked for the CIA his entire life. Um, so I want to go back to the

00:30:53.440 logistics, but doing that before doing that, given your military experience,

00:30:58.640 Pete, there's a process that started today. The process started is against Mark Kelly.

00:31:04.700 And I think Mark Kelly, if he hasn't lawyered up already, he should have lawyered up today

00:31:09.280 because Pete Hex has started the process, sending a letter of censure, turning over to the secretary

00:31:13.520 of Navy. It's pretty evident to me that they're going to recall Kelly to active duty, bust him first,

00:31:20.100 recalling to active duty and court-martialing. And I think the brothers looking at Leavenworth,

00:31:27.040 your thoughts, sir. Yeah, absolutely. There's this, um, I don't know what you call it a myth,

00:31:32.740 but there's this perception that once you've retired from the military, especially if you're

00:31:36.660 an officer that you're free and clear, if you're receiving a pension, that pension is actually a

00:31:44.840 retainer because you are ready to be recalled at any moment. So basically if you, if you receive

00:31:52.360 that retainer, you know, you can be called back. And that's what Kelly, if Kelly's receiving that

00:31:57.560 money, he's on the hook, he's a member of the fleet reserve. And so they can call him back. They

00:32:03.620 could call him back today and put him in Syria. They could put him in Iceland or they can put him in

00:32:08.080 the brig. Now, the letter of censure is pretty strong because he really goes after good order

00:32:14.240 and discipline and his conduct as an officer. And that's, uh, article 133 of the Uniform Code of

00:32:20.520 Military Justice. And there's actually a court case called U.S. v. Hooper where, where the U.S.

00:32:27.280 claims court ruled flat out citing Supreme Court precedent that, hey, if you're an officer and you're

00:32:34.920 on retainer, it's just like you're on active duty. It's like you have the exact same status.

00:32:41.200 And so Kelly was really playing with fire, Steve, because, you know, they tried to be cute by one

00:32:46.060 turn, right? But actually the whole purpose of that video was to suggest that military personnel

00:32:53.680 were receiving illegal orders and that illegal orders was actually a present threat that was going

00:33:02.120 on currently. And so that, that absolutely undermines good order and discipline, Steve.

00:33:08.200 No, no. Okay. Look, let's step back and look at a real world example. Uh, the other night on the

00:33:14.800 extraction, you have 12,000, uh, to 14,000 fleet Marines and sailors, uh, air air airmen, all of it.

00:33:29.760 room and damage control on the cruisers, on the destroyers, on the aircraft carrier and the flight

00:33:56.760 it's unacceptable and he has to be court-martialed. He has to be sent to Leavenworth and people have

00:34:02.300 to know if you're going to be cute, as president Trump said, no gains because, because the evolution

00:34:07.900 that took place is not just the super elite shooters and gunmen to go and kick down the

00:34:12.740 door and kill the 32 Cubans. Obviously they're at the, they're at the highest level of military 0.99

00:34:17.160 training, but it's everybody. Remember the military takes essentially the common man and woman

00:34:21.660 and turns them into a warrior. That, that meshing of people together is the purpose of the process.

00:34:53.420 Venezuela, they're masterpieces. You cannot be prouder of the men and women, the armed forces for

00:34:59.780 what they do to practice, practice, practice as a learning organization. And anybody that would try

00:35:05.460 to get in the way of that for common political gain, I'm sorry, Mark Kelly, you're just a pompous ass.

00:38:45.580 relevatory. You're a special forces green beret. You've done these kinds of actions that, uh,

00:38:51.320 that are in places like, uh, Venezuela, you laid out what you thought were two broad alternatives.

00:38:58.600 Can you walk the audience through those, sir? Because both alternatives kind of have

00:39:02.080 involvement of, uh, of American personnel. So can you take your two alternatives that you

00:39:06.580 think is available to the president of the United States to get this thing sorted down

00:39:09.480 there? Sure. The, what I tried to lay it out was kind of a best case and worst case scenario.

00:39:14.660 Um, and, and again, I say, this is someone that considers myself a, a major supporter of

00:39:19.100 the Trump administration. I've been very happy with the changes that have taken place in the

00:39:23.600 military. I don't just say that as a veteran, I say it is also the father of a, of a son who's

00:39:27.880 a young infantryman in the 101st airborne division. Um, when we look at, we'll start off with worst

00:39:33.100 case scenario. Worst case scenario is if we find ourselves in a situation where whatever

00:39:38.560 government ends up being somewhat implemented or, or put into position, uh, with the support

00:39:43.880 of the United States government, if they don't have adequate support, which is to say that

00:39:48.360 they don't have the funding necessary in order to pay off military and other security personnel.

00:39:52.940 If we see within the anti-Maduro political parties within Venezuela, if we see a lot of fracturing

00:39:58.560 and fighting over control of the government, we could very well end up in a situation where

00:40:02.940 a drastic increase of U S military personnel is required in order to provide for security.

00:40:08.840 We could see, uh, the various cartels that have been operating currently within the government

00:40:12.760 now operating separate from the government, launching a variety of terrorist attacks against

00:40:17.560 both Venezuelan security personnel and U S military personnel. And, and we can all see how this could

00:40:22.800 devolve very quickly where we're having to send more and more troops. We're sustaining more

00:40:26.660 casualties. Hang on. And one, and one, and one thing that, you know, today Maduro

00:40:31.860 was as arrogant as you possibly be in a federal court. When you go into a federal court, you're

00:40:36.480 supposed to say yes, sir, no, sir. Three bags full, sir. I mean, it's a federal judge. It's

00:40:40.200 got a certain way of roles. I mean, Maduro sitting there going, I am the president of, uh, Venezuela.

00:40:45.740 I was kidnapped from my home. Uh, I'm a prisoner of war. So this guy's, uh, demeanor today was

00:40:53.880 not somebody that's, uh, looks like he's trying to cut a deal or it looks like he's, uh, he's

00:40:58.900 going to cooperate in any matter. He couldn't have been more defiant, including when one of

00:41:02.780 the spectators in the court called him out and said, you're finally going to get justice

00:41:06.780 is going to be served on you. Dirtbag. Uh, he was not, uh, you know, he didn't back down

00:41:11.040 on that. So this is something, my point is that we're not saying this is going to happen,

00:41:15.320 but it is a, as they're planning now, Stephen Miller and, and Pete Hegseth and, and, and

00:41:20.800 secretary of state Marco, and they're up right now briefing. Brad's going to tell us what

00:41:24.840 it's like, they're briefing on Capitol Hill right now. And you've already had a West

00:41:28.560 Point grad accuse the secretary of state, Marco Rubio, Dan Ryan, a West Point grad,

00:41:34.200 accuse him of perjury and lying about what the real status is. This thing is going to

00:41:38.260 become intensely political immediately. Uh, and so that's what we got to look through

00:41:43.580 both scenarios. Well, this is the part two that people need to understand. Like, I don't

00:41:47.820 want the worst case scenario to happen, but it's something that we have to plan for

00:41:51.580 because one of the things that rebels understand fighting the United States is you never, you're

00:41:55.620 not fighting the United States military. You fight the United States military, you will 0.98

00:41:58.740 get your ass kicked, right? That's not what they're trying to do. They're trying to influence

00:42:02.380 public opinion within the United States because if they can effectively do that, what ultimately

00:42:07.540 ends up happening is you have negative election results. And those negative election results result

00:42:12.200 in U S forces being either pulled out prematurely or not being deployed adequately or supported

00:42:17.060 adequately. And the end result is, is that you trade one bad regime in Venezuela

00:42:21.380 for another one. That's what we want to avoid. Now, having said that we need to understand

00:42:25.200 Venezuela is not Iraq. It's not Afghanistan, but there are things that we can learn from

00:42:29.800 Iraq and Afghanistan in order to help us on what happens next within Venezuela. Again, being 1.00

00:42:35.360 a green beret, our job was by through and with our job was to develop host nation capacity.

00:42:40.760 So Americans don't have to be fighting the war and running the country. And so there's another

00:42:45.620 scenario here where we gain a strong strategic ally within South America in the form of

00:42:51.120 Venezuela. We, we remove, um, the benefits that Venezuela currently gives to strategic,

00:42:56.900 you know, opposition, the United States, China, Russia specifically, but also more geographically

00:43:02.100 relevant in Cuba, right? There there's, there's all kinds of good things that can potentially

00:43:06.260 happen from this. I would argue that the United States doesn't need to deploy a massive amount

00:43:11.260 of troops in order to actually make this thing work. But I don't see any scenario where some

00:43:16.380 aren't deployed. The question is who? So seven special forces group, they are the special forces

00:43:22.200 group. There's five active duty groups, two guard groups, seven special forces group is the one that

00:43:26.700 is responsible for Latin America. They're very, very accustomed to training in this area. They're

00:43:31.420 accustomed to the culture. You have a lot of those guys, they speak the language. So you could see an

00:43:35.620 environment where seven special forces group. Hey, Nick, Nick, just, just hang on for a second.

00:45:56.300 scenario? Cause right now we're using Naval power, right? We're using a quarantine. He's putting

00:46:00.920 pressure. Uh, he said it'll exert pressure. They won't allow any oil to go out. They'll have no

00:46:05.780 cash. Nothing goes to Cuba. Uh, I'm sure they're going to do an air quarantine also and only allow 0.95

00:46:11.180 in what they want to allow in. Do you not think that that, as you see it right now, like I said,

00:46:15.840 they're briefing up on Capitol Hill, highly classified briefing of this to the, uh, to the

00:46:20.340 big shots on Capitol Hill that need to, I think it's need to know bases only today. I think they

00:46:24.700 brought it out in the next couple of days, but you don't see a scenario where we can get through this

00:46:28.880 and do what the president said he wants to accomplish without the insertion of American

00:46:33.900 troops. And the president said, Hey, if you've got boots on the ground, you got to have boots on

00:46:36.740 ground. I'm not afraid of that, sir. Yeah. I think it's a question of what boots on the ground you

00:46:41.340 have. I don't think we need to go in there with massive division size, uh, troops. Again,

00:46:46.240 when you're talking about a group like seven special forces group, these are guys that our

00:46:49.780 whole mission was by through and with, we do foreign internal defense. We do counter insurgency.

00:46:54.220 These guys go in an advisory role. They can do combat operations as well. Obviously that's what

00:46:58.380 we're doing in Iraq and Afghanistan, but it doesn't have to be Americans out front doing the heavy

00:47:02.360 lifting. One of the biggest things that we're going to have to look at here is when Trump was talking

00:47:06.440 about the United States getting down and actually running and managing the oil infrastructure,

00:47:09.860 that's critical because if you don't have the oil infrastructure up and running,

00:47:13.800 then how are you paying soldiers? How are you paying law enforcement? Well,

00:47:17.260 the cartel's got to manage, they got a mechanism for doing it. That's how the government's been

00:47:20.800 running. And one of the most important things we have to do initially is ensure that the security

00:47:25.760 forces in place are capable, that they can actually carry out their operations and they can actually

00:47:30.840 maintain security and that they're loyal to the government that comes in. I have a hard time seeing any

00:47:35.840 way that we do that without any sort of U.S. military presence. Now, maybe it's possible that

00:47:40.900 the president certainly has access to information that I do not. And again, I would argue that this

00:47:46.120 is not something where we need to go in with overwhelming U.S. force, but there needs to be

00:47:50.660 something to ensure that guys don't take their rifles, walk off the job, and then go to the highest

00:47:56.180 bidder. One of the biggest problems that we had in Iraq was that we had these smart guys come in and

00:48:01.640 decide that they were going to go through complete debathification. And the next thing you know,

00:48:05.360 we got tens of thousands of military age males with guns and no job. That's not what you want. 0.98

00:48:11.300 That's not a good recipe for maintaining security. So as long as we can maintain that security initially,

00:48:16.760 ensure that it's loyal to the government, and then allow Venezuelans to do the vast majority of the 0.65

00:48:21.240 heavy lifting when it comes to maintaining security, then you can actually see a pathway where all of a

00:48:25.940 sudden there's faith restored in the government. The Venezuelan people are starting to see the benefits of

00:48:30.460 the incoming government as opposed to the oppression that they saw under Maduro. And the United States

00:48:34.900 picks up a strategic ally which has an incredible amount of potential, both from their oil wealth

00:48:40.300 as well as other features of Venezuela. But those are the two scenarios that I see. Again, I don't

00:48:46.900 claim to have special information as the intel on the ground that the president does, but just knowing a

00:48:52.400 little something about fighting against terrorism and insurgents and what it takes to do that

00:48:56.760 successfully, these are some of the things that I anticipate going forward.

00:48:59.600 No, and this is one of the controversies in MAGA about is this nation building or are we getting

00:49:05.360 too involved here? So this is going to develop over the next couple of days. And Nick, you know the

00:49:09.820 president very well. In fact, we have, the president was putting up a true social last night. He's putting

00:49:14.680 a lot of things up about now the machines and Venezuela's involvement. I'm honored to have the two

00:49:20.320 gentlemen, Dave Bratt and Nick Freitas, who were, who the CIA, I think, had something to say about the two

00:49:27.080 elections of Spanberger. The current governor of Virginia won. Talk to me about that. You actually won

00:49:33.740 election day. You were winning on election night. I mean, 2020, we were with you guys the entire time.

00:49:38.720 And then, Nick, you went from the winner. And remember, in this, in the 2020 election,

00:49:43.980 Trump won 14 house seats from Nancy Pelosi. We netted 12, but we won 14. Nick Freitas would have

00:49:53.120 been 15, but tell the audience what happened. You were, you won election day on election night,

00:49:58.160 you were winning. And then what happened, sir? Well, first of all, I didn't want to run for

00:50:02.800 Congress. I wanted my good friend, Dave Bratt to be in that seat in Congress. Um, when, when we ran,

00:50:08.540 we had certain goals that we wanted to hit for our numbers. We vastly exceeded those goals. We were,

00:50:13.200 we went into election day, very, very confident. And again, on election night, we were winning the

00:50:17.200 by the next morning, we, we still were winning. And I kid you not a, a thumb drive showed up in

00:50:23.020 Enrico County, which was the bluest County in the district. They had mislabeled it. Uh, 15,000 votes

00:50:28.940 were on that. And that was enough to erode our lead and have us lose by less than two points. Uh, so it

00:50:34.660 was definitely very, very frustrating. A lot of people are like, why didn't you fight it more? Believe me,

00:50:38.860 we tried. The problem was, is you either run out of money or you have, you don't have standing.

00:50:44.200 One of the most nefarious things that happened with the election and across the country and

00:50:49.020 specifically in Virginia is they had changed so much in the election laws in Virginia that a lot

00:50:54.320 of the stuff that they were doing was technically legal. And what ended up happening is it made it

00:50:58.540 very, very difficult to identify fraud when it was actually happening, when there was a high degree

00:51:02.920 of probability that it could be happening. And so you found yourself in a situation where they could

00:51:07.300 essentially run you out of money. And, um, it's kind of where we found ourselves.
