And with the data centers, you know, if a factory came into your town in the 80s or 90s, you thought, okay, this means more jobs, more prosperity for us, it might be an eyesore, it might bring in a lot of traffic, it might do all sorts of things.

00:23:38.660 a Walmart. If you had a Walmart super center go in, yeah, it's going to crush a lot of the small
00:23:43.000 businesses, but at least you can go and get, you know, cheap plastic stuff from China with a data
00:23:47.840 center. You get that one push where you've got contractors, maybe they're local, maybe they're
00:23:53.200 from out of town contractors, building it for the tech companies. And after that, you've got a
00:23:57.640 handful of people babysitting the GPUs inside, and there aren't any jobs. And worse, the data
00:24:04.480 center itself, for anyone who knows anything about the objective of people like Sam Altman,
00:24:10.480 Daryl Madej, Elon Musk, they're all talking about how the AIs that are being trained in at least
00:24:16.600 some of these data centers, perhaps a majority of them, that the AIs being trained are being
00:24:22.140 trained specifically for the purpose of replacing your job. Whether that's possible or not is an
00:24:28.380 open question. But the thing is, Steve, to me, if you have made this promise, you've made that your
00:24:33.900 mission to the greater replacement of all workers from white collar on down to blue collar once the
00:24:38.780 robotics catch up. If you've made that promise, that is the pitch you are stuck with. You're not
00:24:44.920 going to be able to turn it around and say, actually, no, it's going to make you a better
00:24:48.720 worker who was going to make more money. There's no evidence of that at this point, other than
00:24:54.220 that companies who, for instance, are bought out by equity firms like Vista Capital, that they are
00:25:01.220 forced to use AI, and therefore you are forced to show that you're using it in order to maintain
00:25:07.140 your position in a company or maintain your company status as a holding. So yeah, I just
00:25:13.220 think that it's been noted many, many times, Steve, they, they completely blew the initial
00:25:18.140 sales pitch. And if you tell people that this car is going to, you know, here, buy this car,
00:25:23.760 it will ultimately take over your entire body, train on you, and then replace you. And there'll
00:25:28.480 be nothing left but the car. Nobody wants that. The only people who want that are the people who
00:25:34.060 own the cars or the people who own the AIs. So yeah, communities are fighting back on a local
00:25:40.400 level. Anyone who says they believe in the power of people to make their own decisions about their
00:25:45.360 own communities, I think should support them. And if these data centers are going to be so great
00:25:49.220 for the local communities, well, find someone who wants it. See if you can get them to, you know,

00:36:04.340 We'd put on all our witnesses.

00:36:08.120 We got $750 million out of this deal, assuming the contingencies are met, and I think they will be.

00:36:16.740 Now, we could have done better than that at trial, but we also could have done worse than that at trial.
00:36:20.880 And that's a good lick of money in Tennessee.
00:36:22.600 All that money is going to go towards kids' mental health technology protection stuff.
00:36:28.220 The legislature set up a new fund so that the money that we get out of cases like this goes towards solving the problem that we sue over.
00:36:36.160 But the bigger piece of this is the injunctive relief.
00:36:39.080 And nobody's ever really been able to do anything like this before.
00:36:43.240 I think it's really important to set the precedent.
00:36:46.420 So we want parents to have real opportunities to control their kids' access to this stuff.
00:36:52.820 The parental controls before were basically fake, right?
00:36:55.500 They were hard to understand.
00:36:56.820 You couldn't really do anything with them.
00:36:58.740 There were no guardrails up there for kids.
00:37:00.720 Kids were just commodities.
00:37:02.620 And they were being harvested.
00:37:03.620 their time, their attention was being harvested to devastating effect. So now we got time limits
00:37:08.880 on how long kids can use this. We got nighttime blocks. We're working on the mechanics of how the
00:37:14.640 platform works to try to reduce all of the addiction related harms. And it's not perfect,
00:37:21.680 but we don't have a magic wand here. We have the laws that we have. And I don't believe we could
00:37:26.980 have got a court to give us relief as fulsome as we got. If you look at New Mexico, they were
00:37:33.520 able to get some injunctive relief after a trial, I think we did objectively better than New Mexico
00:37:39.940 did. And it goes right into effect. There's no appeal process. We're going to get the money
00:37:44.420 right away. There's no appeal process. And not only does this put guardrails up for Meta's platforms,
00:37:51.480 but it's a start at addressing the industry-wide problem. So in an ideal world, Congress would
00:37:57.120 pass a strong COSA, like Senator Blackburn has been telling them to, that would have a duty of
00:38:02.780 care to kids. It would have all sorts of restrictions on what these companies can do.
00:38:06.940 But Congress hasn't done that. So the next best thing we can do is this lawsuit.
00:38:11.340 And we've got Meta now making all these concessions and how they treat kids.
00:38:15.920 That's going to redound through the industry. So when AI companies start putting out more
00:38:20.300 kid-oriented products, and we're already seeing them, there's not a vacuum there. They know there
00:38:25.020 are limits on what they can do. There are some really basic guidelines. And we're going to be
00:38:29.120 able to build from that and hopefully build momentum toward legislation at some point.
00:38:33.900 But in the meantime, you know, we took this deal because I think we got better outcomes here than
00:38:38.800 we would have at trial because the appeal process is long because there's a chance we lose on the
00:38:44.520 Section 230 argument. You know, the Supreme Court could decide it does apply as broadly as these
00:38:48.960 companies have said it does. So we mitigated the risk of that. We got a real win with the
00:38:55.260 restrictions on how the company can treat kids. We've got real guardrails in place. And that's
00:39:00.140 an example for the whole industry. Now, I realize this is not a huge amount of money to Meta.
00:39:04.800 I realize that. $17 billion, $18 billion, they can make that back pretty quick. But they make
00:39:12.280 so much money that to get something that had a financially meaningful impact on the company
00:39:16.920 to the degree that I think you would want and that I think would be, you know, substantially
00:39:23.660 effective. We don't really have laws for that. I mean, you could have maybe a tort action that
00:39:28.920 could approach that potentially, but it's really tricky. So the whole point of the suit was not to
00:39:34.680 shake the company down for as much money as we could. It's to change the way they treat kids.
00:39:39.040 I think we got a great success there. And we're going to use that as leverage with every other
00:39:43.200 technology company that puts out any products or services that deal with kids.
00:39:48.860 But you know, if the mindset, look, you know this case better in the witnesses and the facts,
00:39:52.880 you know right now they're still plot they're back in their labs they're back and they're still
00:39:57.840 plotting to take this to the edge every time they get you just saw jim kramer on here on the a on
00:40:03.840 the data center fight which is oh for one the biggest pro data center guys abbott in texas
00:40:09.960 and shapiro the opposite ends of the political spectrum have both said abbott said hey full
00:40:14.140 moratorium right and he apologized on the jonathan carl show uh the abc show a couple weeks ago that
00:40:20.200 He had made mistakes, and they had not lived up to their obligations on permitting.
00:40:23.980 Josh Shapiro, the biggest proponent of data centers, did a 180 flip.

00:40:32.920 They said, this guy flipped because Amazon paid $5 million.

00:46:22.120 We're focused on making the case for splitting up the company. We think that's the only way to fix
00:46:27.120 this. And we got the jury verdict that said that it is an abusive monopoly. Now we're putting the
00:46:33.320 case together for the judge saying, hey, we've tried everything else. These guys have been given
00:46:37.420 so many opportunities to do right, so many pieces of behavioral relief, and they've found a way
00:46:45.320 around it. The structure of the market is irreparable. And the only way that we can fix
00:46:51.080 this is to break the company up. So we're making that push. Wow. It's been a long time since anyone
00:46:56.420 has successfully done this. But if there's a case for it, it is this case. And we're going to try as
00:47:01.320 hard as we can. And if we can't get it done, then I'm very pessimistic because I think the heart of
