00:08:21.420their legal argument they can't bring that into court they can't say that it's a media bias because
00:08:26.080they have to make a national security argument so again the political rhetoric does not align
00:08:30.920with the legal argument and what's more in some overnight court filings the attorneys for ms now
00:08:37.760and those other media groups have shown clips of the president's quotes about media complaints
00:08:44.540and media bias. They're going to bring the judge an argument in 20 minutes that this is not about
00:08:48.860national security. And the president's own words show that he is trying to control and exert power
00:08:54.860over the things he he can control. So, again, you see the media. One of the things that was
00:09:00.560very surprising to me is normally when Trump goes to war with the media or bans the media as
00:09:06.660unacceptable and absurd sometimes as it may be. There's normally a specific story or a specific
00:09:14.880reporter who he can point to why he's angry. This feels like a blanket thing. There's reporting
00:09:22.000that someone showed him something he didn't like. I'm sure that's true, but that could be as benign
00:09:27.500as someone on television stating the fact that he didn't win the 2020 election. And so to blanket
00:09:33.320go after all of these media organizations sort of shows someone who is tilting. And I will just add
00:09:39.240my colleagues today had a great scoop about the people who are pushing Trump to declare martial
00:09:45.420law or some sort of national emergency pegged to the midterms. You know, on the one hand,
00:09:50.380the reporting shows that the people in the White House do not like this approach, are trying to
00:09:56.100keep these people away from the president. But in a moment where Trump doesn't feel like he has a
00:10:01.080out of control, where he feels things slipping away, where he fears irrelevancy. This faction
00:10:07.280pushing this are also people he knows, people he listens to, people he's close to. And that sort of
00:10:13.040argument is potentially going to feel very appealing to a man like Donald Trump in a moment
00:10:19.000like this. The Orban people woke up that day with plans to seal the election if necessary.0.87

00:12:10.600ruling from the judge, but he said, quote, I'll consider what you have said and rule as soon as
00:12:16.520possible. Jessica, your thoughts on this moment sort of suspended between the arguments being
00:12:24.360made and the judge saying he will rule as soon as possible. I mean, we always say the stakes
00:12:30.820couldn't be higher, but in this moment for the press, they really are. I think, you know,
00:12:35.960you hear all of us, the press is always supposed to be so competitive with one another. This kind
00:12:39.820unity is remarkable. And it's because we really are on the front lines of explaining to the
00:12:47.020American people what's going on, exposing and at least what the president and the White House is
00:12:52.060up to. And also crucially, Nicole, just confronting them with questions. You know, part of the
00:12:59.000importance of the press being inside the White House, it's not only that you get answers by
00:13:04.360being there, right? You can get answers from reporting outside the White House. It's that
00:13:08.240it's important for the American people to see the president and our leaders confronted by
00:13:12.600challenging questions, to hear parts of the story that they aren't putting out from that building.

00:34:36.800Talk to people, put it, let's frame this properly, because this is a major event, a state visit by the head of the Chinese Communist Party and the president, you know, giving a full military honors to him out of Andrews Air Force Base and going out to Andrews Air Force Base, which is virtually unheard of.
00:34:53.960Like I said, we haven't had any president do it for any figure since 1962, and that was John F. Kennedy to the Prime Minister of Great Britain at the time where Britain was still, you know, our major ally post-World War II in the Cold War.

00:36:06.120want. It was all supposed to be a partnership and win-win, but it really was just the Chinese0.65
00:36:11.260getting their way maximally all the way across. They just simply because they don't believe in1.00
00:36:15.480win-win. They would only accept the things where they were the massive winner and the US was loser
00:36:21.700and the right people got paid off in effect. I'm being a little bit glib, but that's how it played

00:36:30.500intellectual property and on and on and on. But suddenly, this shifted. I just had Peter

00:36:48.400his guns against whatever. You know that better than most. So anyway, this is the setup. And so

00:37:00.120pushing back against that very extreme, push all your cash into China, move all your manufacturing.
00:37:07.320Now, Apple was putting annually more than the entire Marshall Plan into developing China at
00:37:15.120one point, right? I mean, this is like astonishing stuff going on, right? So we're in a phase where
00:37:21.220there's been a massive backtrack, okay? And that is, you know, right now, there's this huge trade
00:37:27.880deficit, China set itself up using American money as the world's manufacturing hub, right? This is
00:37:33.680the one thing that they can do, right? This is the cornerstone of their economy because all the
00:37:39.240other pieces of their economy have fallen out. They have this huge demographic crisis. Their
00:37:43.460property has been cratering over the last five years. It's a mess. Hang on one second. I just
00:37:49.580want to make sure that they're landing right now. That is Xi. We're going to cover this all.
