Based Camp - The Meme Wars： 4Chan Was Murdered For Betraying Wojak

00:00:00.000 hello simone i'm excited to be with you today today we are going to be talking about the hacker

00:00:05.040 known as 4chan and how he died you know no no 4chan is dead when i would argue and one of the

00:00:13.920 arguments of this episode is gonna be you don't even need to be so sad the 4chan environment had

00:00:17.920 become so corrupted by the time of its death that nothing of the host survived all right

00:00:26.800 i'm not talking to that thing in your head i'm talking to skara nothing of the host survives

00:00:35.520 your friend had a feeble mind it suffered greatly and gave in easily

00:00:44.480 you know it was it was no longer the site that it used to be and that its death was not like wokies 1.00

00:00:51.040 or something coming for it it was the new form of new right culture coming for it attacking the

00:00:58.240 old rights the pathetic extremism right you know um and this is what you can really see all right

00:01:04.960 so i always thought the freakazoid theme song seemed bizarrely spot on as a theme song for

00:01:10.720 og 4chan culture so let's see if i can get away with posting it

00:01:24.400 anything you want to say or you know about this before i go deeper i actually don't know anything

00:01:39.920 about this and so i'm extremely curious to see what has happened because i remember for a while

00:01:46.080 it was 4chan and then there was 8chan and i don't know who's what or where's where it all seemed so

00:01:53.120 ephemeral to begin with so i'm very keen to hear what's going on because i never really hung out on

00:01:57.840 4chan unfortunately yeah i mean i've always been adjacent to it and everything like that and i've

00:02:02.800 read it but i've never really enjoyed like posting in it um i i just i might be a humble man

00:02:10.320 but i just really enjoy when people adorate me for my post yes this this anonymity thing really

00:02:17.440 isn't our game every other major new right figure you know you talk about like bronze age pervert or 0.84

00:02:22.880 like raw egg nationalists or like any of these people they all started pseudonymously not me oh no

00:02:30.880 video games to no audience at all you either play as yourself or as one of our kids so like you're still

00:02:38.000 like it's always you in some way yes everybody must praise me i why would i write something without

00:02:45.680 expectation of adoration well no but even in video games that's my point though is even when there's

00:02:52.080 literally no audience you still want to be yourself or us because you identify as your family yeah i

00:02:58.560 typically do well or one of my descendants or something like that is like what am i i'm like

00:03:03.280 okay this is like a hypothetical descendant or something so that's that's just the way i interact

00:03:07.760 with the world it needs to be me okay buddy but anyway and i i love that this is antithetical to

00:03:12.960 the new right in many ways because all the other new right we're all you know whether it's it's it's

00:03:17.680 you know zero hp or bronze age pervert or rye nationalists and yet i'm like here i am but it doesn't 0.76

00:03:26.880 mean that i wasn't influenced by 4chan culture and i didn't enjoy 4chan culture but i do think that it

00:03:32.160 lived out its life cycle so let's talk about why let's talk about what happened yeah wow this is

00:03:36.960 the end of an era if if this is real how it's playing it may not come back it really may not

00:03:41.920 so the the what took it down with a hack called operation soy clips and i'm gonna try to give you

00:03:47.360 guys the most comprehensive view of this okay fine the story begins in september 2020 when 4chan's qa

00:03:54.080 questions and answered board was banned this board originally a space for meta discussions has become a

00:03:59.360 hub for a specific subculture of users who reveled in creating and sharing soy jack memes caricatures

00:04:06.160 mocking perceived weaknesses of their ideological opponents so if you're not familiar with soy jacks

00:04:10.800 i will throw some on screen for you here you definitely know what they are they're those little

00:04:14.320 like outlines of characters when you think of like a meme face that's soy jack frequently when 4chan's

00:04:22.000 moderator shut down qa these users felt betrayed accusing the site of stifling their community

00:04:27.040 in response a user known as scoot launched soy jack party or soy jack dot party a new image

00:04:33.280 boards dedicated to soy jack memes and the irreverent culture that thrived on qa now i want to take an

00:04:40.560 aside here because i was in like okay why did they ban soy jack well i mean it's 4chan too there should be

00:04:47.200 nothing off limits right no but literally the only reason they banned it and this is this this i think

00:04:53.200 shows the beginning of the rot okay they banned it because they were mad that it had become

00:04:58.160 low effort posting only soy jacks and it's like yeah because this is where the soy jack culture had 1.00

00:05:06.400 grown yeah and it'll pass like if it's not funny it will pass you don't have to worry about it

00:05:12.720 yeah but they didn't like the mods literally like it wasn't like it was offensive it wasn't like it crossed

00:05:18.960 any boundaries they just didn't like their culture and style of humor and i'm like okay that is where

00:05:26.320 you this is this is for many people who don't know like uh 4chan is where the brony culture originated

00:05:33.520 because people wanted to be subversive against the extreme hate you know often you get hatred

00:05:39.360 often you get like condescension of certain groups and when you had that was in the 4chan culture

00:05:45.040 the first culture that grew in opposition to that were bronies this was a group that was being like hey

00:05:49.120 let it subversively be sincere about the things we like be sweet be loving be kind to each other

00:05:57.360 like let us subvert the subversive culture's expectation with kindness and then they'd get

00:06:05.680 banned from all the boards at first and they're like okay we'll consolidate you into the my lower

00:06:09.600 pony forms and this is where mods are asleep post ponies comes from because they still love to mess with

00:06:14.960 the other boards by being sweet and wholesome in a culture where you know cap and everything like

00:06:19.440 that was how you like freaked people out it was like let's show sweet ponies because that'll really

00:06:24.400 annoy them but within this what soy jack represented and we'll get into this in a bit is in contrast to

00:06:32.400 the right-leaning extremism of 4chan like sincere hatred it was an ironic hatred it was like a post

00:06:41.040 ironic lifestyle and way of engaging with content and information that is much closer to say the way

00:06:47.920 you and i live when you know the newspaper written about us recently and they were like i don't know

00:06:53.360 where the where the trolling ends and where the the sincerity begins and it's like no there is no

00:07:00.960 place where the trolling ends and the sincerity begins those two things are integrated entirely

00:07:06.000 yes they are we told you with sincerity yes all right anything you want to say before i go further

00:07:15.200 i just can't believe they stopped it is chris pool still like moot still

00:07:20.640 oh well you know he sold it a long time ago okay so he's been out okay that explains more of it too so

00:07:25.120 like really 4chan is 715 oh my gosh okay wow no but it's funny it's soy jack party was also sold at one point

00:07:34.240 okay so we'll get into all of this all right so approximately 218 moderators managers and janitors

00:07:44.320 had their information leaked but specific counts for dot gov and dot edus are not disclosed by available

00:07:51.040 sources the total volume of leaked data was 120 gigabytes including internal communications and user ips

00:07:57.440 uh so to to get this more they they lost the source code they lost user ips which means people can now

00:08:05.680 see who is using 4chan they lost the mods the janitors and you know what they found out and i wasn't able

00:08:11.520 to get an exact breakdown of this but there's a janitor and a mod on 4chan they're just different

00:08:16.320 categories of janitors with different levels of power but the point being is that when they were all

00:08:21.280 leaked all of these positions and people of power i think it was something like the majority or like a huge

00:08:25.920 chunk had government domains like they were using their government emails a lot of them dot edus

00:08:32.480 to manage these accounts and it showed that it had been likely because you know if the feds they're

00:08:38.480 not going to be like dot fed or something they're going to use like dot harvard or something right you

00:08:42.400 know right so do you think it was the same kind of thing that was happening with reddit whereby

00:08:48.160 it was 100 yeah i think 4chan so the government was trying to seed information on 4chan totally captured and

00:08:54.560 corrupted by the feds at this point that's basically what we learned that there was no

00:08:59.120 okay oh wow live of feds and that's what was left oh that is brutal okay wow quickly child we're running

00:09:11.280 out of time lich you you messed billy up you just want to mess me all up mess everyone up you tricked me

00:09:24.080 but i think everybody come on everybody's still around today news 4chan with a bunch of feds at

00:09:28.480 this point like the feds obviously were drawn to it like all the cool stuff has on 8chan or whatever

00:09:34.400 like you know on one of the other image boards like 4chan like when i think of it today and we'll get

00:09:38.560 into this a bit more i always thought it was kind of like old school and antiquated and like a little

00:09:44.560 woke and we'll get into how it got that perception right like but anyway it's uncertain whether 4chan will

00:09:51.680 ever be back up some sources speculate that this could be the end of the platform due to the

00:09:56.080 exposure of 120 gigabytes of internal data including source code and moderator emails

00:10:00.240 however restoration is theoretically possible if the site addresses its security vulnerabilities

00:10:05.120 though this could require substantial effort and time and so now we're going to talk about

00:10:09.680 the founding of this alternate site so eject party that led the raid okay okay so the site's founder

00:10:15.440 soot s-o-o-t is described as an alt-right conspiracy theorist so again this is not the left took down

00:10:22.560 4chan it's the ironic right took down the overly sincere right and we see this in our own fans where

00:10:30.880 people are like what how can you be okay was like how can you be okay was like it's like don't take

00:10:36.240 yourself so seriously you nerd like yeah yeah well i'll just keep reading here okay and the site has 0.72

00:10:43.200 hosted a faction known as sutis named after the founder the alt-right conspiracy theorist who exposes

00:10:48.800 a form of site-specific conservatism called sutism sutism is described as extremely conservative

00:10:55.040 compared to other site factions but this conservatism is more about site culture and

00:10:59.440 insularity than explicit far-right politics so they sort of want the site to be like this unique

00:11:06.240 niche thing and they also have conservative politics okay so jack party was sold by its founder

00:11:13.120 suit to yuri or cuz kustavov in july 2022 for two thousand dollars after months of negotiations

00:11:23.440 this transfer was known as the great purchase and occurred due to suits shifting personal priorities

00:11:28.720 including college commitments so he was still in college okay and that's why two thousand dollars

00:11:32.800 was enough yeah and kuz's persistent efforts to acquire the site the sale concluded the second

00:11:40.240 soviet soyville war a conflict between pro soot and pro cuz factions that involved cp spam doxing and

00:11:49.040 website rate because a russian cyber crypto businessman exhibits a complex political profile so you might

00:11:58.320 think oh so it was bought by a lefty no far-right associations hosted extremist content via the

00:12:04.400 cloyman network including sites like goruchan oh oh goruchan i don't know if i'd call that far

00:12:10.320 right that's far perv that's perv right so sorry for people who don't know garo garo is a form of

00:12:17.440 erotic material that is just like like what it's meant to masturbate was in the human mind is like 0.88

00:12:25.280 it's a sadism without any caps just like extreme nightmare fuel violence nightmare fuel yeah like 0.62

00:12:33.200 insects eating people's brains and stuff like that you know like the people being ripped in half that

00:12:40.720 that that that sort of stuff right and so okay so that's very much like a i am extreme but he bought

00:12:49.120 this like subversive ironic site which is very interesting and oh and he promoted anti-vaccine

00:12:56.480 disinformation it says also you know again not lefty for good measure yeah authoritarian tendencies

00:13:03.600 implemented strict moderation early in his zoijack party reign before reverting to such

00:13:08.160 laissez-faire style conspiracy leanings shared north korean propaganda narratives and 9-11 truther

00:13:14.320 content cybercrime ties allegedly orchestrated ddos attacks false flag operations and bitcoin fraud schemes

00:13:22.000 more broadly he is embodiment of early 4chan culture okay like this is this is clearly not

00:13:29.600 antithetical to 4chan culture suits to culture and the subsequent great purchase when the site was sold

00:13:36.960 to cuz sparked ongoing factionalism and power struggles with sodas frequently clashing with other

00:13:43.120 political factions on the site such as kluz the the liberal po cuz as moderate so the the cuz faction right

00:13:52.000 they are the liberal faction of the site the even though they had harsher moderation i guess that's

00:13:58.080 considered more liberal these yeah that is considered more liberal within online years that's so weird

00:14:03.120 the the 9-11 trucer pro north korea crypto scamming guru chan russian businessman who thinks vaccines are

00:14:16.720 are a scam that is the liberal faction okay of this particular war i'm just i'm just pointing out

00:14:24.240 here people want to frame this in a wider cultural context right soyjack party quickly grew into a rival

00:14:30.160 to 4chan attracting users who saw themselves as outcasts from their former home the two platforms

00:14:35.360 while sharing similarities in their anonymous meme-driven environments developed distinct personalities

00:14:40.240 4chan remained a sprawling unmoderated space where anything from groundbreaking memes to far-right extremism

00:14:45.600 could flourish soyjack party meanwhile carved out a niche with a focus on soy jacks and playful

00:14:52.080 often ironic tone that set it apart so it was ironic in extremism which 4chan was not and i think

00:14:59.600 that this represented a second subversion the brony subversion of 4chan in terms of the online cultural

00:15:05.680 uh background and and what was happening here okay the 2025 hack with a culmination of this rivalry

00:15:14.800 according to posts on soyjack.party the hacker had infiltrated 4chan systems for over a year

00:15:20.080 waiting for the right moment to strike on april 14th they executed their plan defacing 4chan was a message

00:15:26.240 you got hacked laughing face reopening the long band qa form leaking sensitive data including

00:15:34.000 with moderator emails and user ip logs a soyjack.party user posting under the name chud again these are

00:15:42.720 not progressives described the hack as cathartic suggesting a deep-seated resentment towards 4chan's

00:15:49.760 leadership and policies the motivations appear multi-faceted the reopening of qa parts became a

00:15:56.800 lost space that soyjack.party users felt was unjustly taken and it was completely unjustly taken

00:16:02.960 the leaking of moderator information reflects a broader dischange for 4chan's moderation environments

00:16:08.400 which many users both on 4chan and soyjack party viewed as inconsistent and authoritarian

00:16:14.080 additionally the cultural differences between the two platforms was in soyjack.party's ironic humor

00:16:18.480 clashing with fortune's often earnest extremism likely fueled the animosity now i asked it to

00:16:25.120 describe the politics of both i don't need to go into the politics of 4chan most people know that

00:16:28.880 that they you know i earnest extremism is the best explanation yeah 4chan made trump 1.0 as as

00:16:35.760 president yeah right but i think that he was already showing the ironic extremism that soyjack came to

00:16:43.280 embody yeah so soyjack party came to embody ironic far-right culture soyjack.party shares 4chan's

00:16:50.320 right-wing leanings but approaches them with a layer of irony and self-awareness described by

00:16:54.800 as an alt-right image board it hosts content similar to 4chan's including bigoted rhetoric and

00:17:00.400 politically charged memes however its users often called soy teens or jackers are known for their

00:17:07.360 playful irreverent tone using toyjack memes to mock a wide range of targets from leftist 4chan's own

00:17:15.280 right-wing users for example the chud jack meme popularized on soyjack party character rises

00:17:21.040 the stereotypical 4chan poll user as angry far-right extremist this suggests that while

00:17:27.680 soyjack party aligns with right-wing ideologies in many 4chan's more sincere extremism with a degree

00:17:34.400 of mockery and detachment some sources describe soyjack.party users as self-aware chuds indicating

00:17:40.880 their political views while strong are often expressed through humor rather than dogma

00:17:44.720 i'm assuming all the jack names come from like bojack like is it kind of

00:17:56.480 note the correct answer here is it comes originally from wojack wojack comes from a polish user who

00:18:02.800 popularized the image on german image board crotchan around 2010 the image was originally named wojack

00:18:10.400 after the user who posted it was wojack being polish for a soldier because it makes me think of just

00:18:16.240 the original scots irish irreverent jack stories that you have in that book you got yeah a lot of

00:18:24.720 people don't know this but the greater appalachian cultural region or the backwoods cultural

00:18:29.440 religion in the united states had a tradition of folk stories and the one that you are probably most

00:18:35.360 familiar with is jack and the giant beanstalk when jack actually got up a lot more than that

00:18:40.480 yes jack stories were an entire collection of stories from this cultural region where you would

00:18:46.480 have the the blank jack and the y jack and the z jack i don't think it came from that but i can see

00:18:52.400 because that culture really embodied this ironic you know well jack gets up to you know a very tom

00:19:00.240 sawyer-esque i'd say but a bit more you know irreverent yeah and and vulgar when you get married with tom

00:19:07.120 sawyer yeah so again yeah really fits this sort of cultural narrative from wikipedia unlike moralizing

00:19:14.800 fairy heroes jack is often thievish lazy or foolish but emerges triumphant through wit and trickery

00:19:22.000 resembling the trickster or rebel archetypes wouldn't that be beautiful if they actually had some

00:19:26.720 sort of cultural understanding but i don't think they did okay so let's take a bit back here i want

00:19:32.720 to be like okay well let's go into fortune right like was fortune sold in the same way the other site

00:19:38.960 was sold what happened because i remember like in my circles the perception is fortune went woke

00:19:45.600 and of course when i asked ai i was like no well i mean some extremist saying fortune went woke

00:19:52.640 but fortune didn't really go woke and i'm like oh okay okay okay okay okay okay okay well let's see

00:20:01.760 what happened with fortune and how this perception was in my not far right communities come on

00:20:11.040 got the impression that fortune went woke and was a bunch of feds and wasn't a place to hang out anymore

00:20:15.600 okay so hiroki nishiruma who acquired fortune in 2015 introduced subtle shifts in moderation compared

00:20:24.640 to the founder moot pools era while pool's tenure was marked by near total freedom narushima they

00:20:31.840 pressured to address legal content due to legal light abilities and advertiser concerns so i'll note here

00:20:38.240 that he ran the most popular message board in japan at the time which was built sort of based on

00:20:45.360 4chan 4chan of course uh so if you're familiar with like the concept of like chan it's like used in

00:20:51.200 anime a lot clearly this was derivative of like anime culture obviously they would have had some

00:20:56.000 adoration of this individual they would have thought of them as as oh yeah i i can see that they could

00:21:01.920 probably run the site well and everything but i also understand that if you're not like an absolute

00:21:06.480 maniac who's like living off the grid you can't be running a site that's regularly posting stuff like cp

00:21:12.800 and stuff like that or you're going to end up the feds are going to come to your house and they're

00:21:16.240 going to have a little talk with you about why do you because you do own it technically legally own a

00:21:22.880 bunch of cv you know why aren't you dealing with this yeah and so you know to be honest i understand why

00:21:29.360 he addressed this but i see how we could go further into stuff like guru content as well which you know

00:21:35.600 isn't strictly illegal but a lot of people would be like hey can we not post all these like

00:21:41.120 horrifically tortured people and stuff like that like this is kind of ruining my mood today

00:21:49.520 yeah ruining my vibe yeah and so then it expands to that then people start alternate message boards for

00:21:55.960 that but anyway users noted bans for content like explicit calls to violence doxing or certain types of

00:22:03.360 hate speech which were perceived as more strictly enforced than in the past post on x from 2022 to

00:22:10.880 2024 complained about moderators jannies removing threads on poll politically incorrect or inflammatory

00:22:18.800 rhetoric that users claim was previously tolerated uh most high profiles of this was when the q anon

00:22:25.440 threads were removed in 2020. oh that's wild from 4chan what is yeah potentially under pressure of u.s

00:22:32.480 authorities almost certainly under pressure of u.s authorities you know when the fbi i can't i can't

00:22:37.120 understand there being any other reason because the reason normal like well real people go on 4chan

00:22:43.280 is because it's the one place you could expect that to not be moderated that is unfortunate for

00:22:49.120 that in ages that's what a chance for these days yeah well i i didn't know i didn't know it doesn't

00:22:54.240 exist anymore it's now like standing why infinity chance there's like 50 other chance now you know

00:22:58.960 there's like but but there's like a chan for you that's what i can say you know good okay although

00:23:03.840 the leaking of the 4chan source code you know if they were using that could cause problems yeah

00:23:10.480 anyway hiroki nashiruma the founder of 2chan a prominent japanese message board and what pool said

00:23:19.440 when this happened is he described him as a friend and someone i've long admired which makes sense given

00:23:23.760 he ran this the process of this sale the sale was a private transaction and had no public bidding or

00:23:29.040 auction being reported pool who had been running 4chan since 2003 cited personal fatigue was basically

00:23:35.760 the controversies he didn't like that and financial struggles as factors in his decision to step away

00:23:40.880 nashiruma already a figure in the image board world was a logical successor due to his experience with

00:23:46.960 210 channel so all made sense there i don't i don't really like i don't see it as bad when i went back and

00:23:53.280 studied it but like largely speaking it seems that 4chan had been infiltrated and corrupted

00:23:58.640 yeah to be arbitrarily against irony against you know anything that broke their their their mores

00:24:07.440 which is you know antagonistic to i think what many people on the new right would want and so i think

00:24:12.960 that actually this split is the beginning of the new right whereas 4chan was just extremism for extremism

00:24:18.320 take you know you can look at us like we were bronies back in the day right like we

00:24:24.000 represented the antagonism to this culture because we wanted to be counterculture in a

00:24:29.920 counterculture environment and what soy jack represents is a new counterculture but i think a

00:24:34.240 more sustainable one than the brony culture although the brony culture was sustainable for a long

00:24:38.880 time it was in a conferences remember when we went to that one at the sfo higher regency

00:24:47.760 we went to a brony con you and i and i and i got so annoyed by so many of the former like

00:24:53.520 like what was her name like jenna oh yeah the one who did friendship as witchcraft suddenly

00:25:00.720 did friendship as witchcraft and then created a popular youtube channel much more popular than

00:25:04.560 the friendship jenny nicholson jenny nicholson nicholson and she like later disavowed basically

00:25:11.440 the entire series mostly on the grounds that she deeply rejects a little running joke that she had 0.63

00:25:18.480 in this my little pony parody in which they used the word gypsy which she was deeply embarrassed about 0.51

00:25:25.360 using because it was a slur i just think she has really really progressive parents and it sucks because

00:25:29.840 she her content is so cute i don't think it's progressive parents i think she was brainwashed

00:25:34.640 by her community sorry by progressive friends not parents i didn't mean yeah and i think that

00:25:38.720 it sort of scrambled her brain and and because the content that she made originally was so funny

00:25:44.080 it was hilarious is witchcraft might be my favorite like of any series my favorite series

00:25:50.640 yeah it had songs it had original songs as long as it's not one of those sad ones with

00:25:55.360 a deceptively happy tune when you're right to devastation there's a simple explanation you're

00:26:01.040 a toy maker's creation trapped inside a crystal ball yeah whichever way he talks it know that we must be

00:26:07.920 resilient we won't let them break our spirits as we sing our silly song when i was a little billy

00:26:15.200 a galvan blaze overtook my city they stripped me off to the orphanage that dips those roots if you want 0.88

00:26:20.560 it in so i dug one thousand holes and cut a rug with orphan fools now memories are blurred and 0.87

00:26:26.160 their faces are obscure but i still know the words of this song when you've bungled all your bangles 0.95

00:26:30.800 and your love what's happening then listen to the jingle she won't shut up unless you come back with us

00:26:37.040 i can't

00:26:46.400 the voices were fantastic aren't you afraid the fashion police will come

00:26:50.400 and beat you with their fabulous batons the edits were great but i mean i also just love her

00:26:55.040 youtube channel and i wish she did more content it makes me so sad that she doesn't

00:27:00.080 yeah they they by the way would take my little pony episodes and then like redo them with like

00:27:04.880 new voices and new plots but they were very irreverent they were very so for people who know me

00:27:10.560 my ability to enjoy an art form is typically highly augmented by how far that art form is from a

00:27:17.360 commercial context the more iterations deep you go in terms of remixes the more interested i'm going

00:27:24.880 to be in that which is why i always prefer fan fiction i always prefer you know remix shows and

00:27:29.760 stuff like that to like originally made stuff yeah and so especially if they go far from the source

00:27:35.760 materials intention so friendship is witchcraft it's fun because it's so like you know in a lot of the

00:27:42.400 ways that it does yeah you you just you're crazy about subversion the more subversive the better

00:27:46.480 yeah the more subversive or or or fallout equestria is another one that i've always really loved or

00:27:51.360 fallout equestria you know there's a few what was the big one that i like there was like a remix of

00:27:56.000 that that was longer than the original um that was just so much no there's fallout equestria and then

00:28:01.360 fallout equestria project horizons i want to say oh my god and it was even longer than the original

00:28:07.040 these these are post-apocalyptic my little pony universes one of the earliest pieces you could

00:28:12.960 find online from us was a like a medium post or a hovington post post about the fandom because like

00:28:20.880 fallout equestria this remix of the original show became so popular people started to make like video

00:28:26.000 games of it and art and there's an audiobook it's yeah where would you be when the mega spell hits

00:28:31.760 you can secure your family's future by reserving a spot in the state-of-the-art underground stable

00:28:40.640 for stable tech today that's right mr cake you and your family can wait out the horrors of the mega

00:28:45.440 spell devastation and mrs cake the stable will have all of the amenities of your modern-day home and it's

00:28:51.280 attractive and pumpkin cake in the stable you might meet your special sun pony just like you would want

00:28:56.720 on the surface and in the few short years you and your stallion will repopulate our great country

00:29:02.640 it's i mean so i think more people listening to this may be familiar with eliezer yudkowskis

00:29:09.040 which i hate by the way he's a demon harry potter and the methods of rationality 0.81

00:29:14.400 fallout equestria is like that but with an already more obscure fan base of my little pony fans who are

00:29:22.160 grown men so yeah but i mean i think harry potter and the message of rationality you know we talked

00:29:28.560 about this recently because we had to go back into it like neither of us could get very far in it

00:29:32.960 because the the the writing is just too like self-important and and to like the the main character

00:29:40.800 is a i saw a really interesting breakdown of it recently where they're like the problem of it is

00:29:46.560 is it's a mary sue but not a mary sue because like you read the character and you're like wow

00:29:52.880 this character is so flawed like such a psychopathic self-important unable to see the bigger picture

00:30:00.560 thinks he knows science but like gets all the actual science wrong person and so you read it

00:30:06.480 and you think oh he's gonna learn from this you know he's gonna he clearly he's not a mary sue look

00:30:11.920 at how flawed and then you're like oh that's just the author of the story they actually have

00:30:18.000 no understanding of science and believe that they have a deep understanding of science they actually

00:30:24.000 are like sociopathic in the way they approach everything and very self-centered in the way

00:30:27.520 they approach everything but believe that this is very magnanimous and intelligent and it sort of

00:30:32.960 for a lot of people like breaks them they're like wait a second i thought this was all being written

00:30:37.680 subversively he was serious yeah but i think there's a certain category of autists who don't

00:30:43.040 see this and it and it like brainwashed they're like oh wow this guy looks really smart like if you just

00:30:49.280 are like completely self-important to a certain category of autists they actually believe it 0.99

00:30:54.000 sincerely especially if you code it in like skepticism and stuff like this you're like okay okay that makes

00:31:01.920 sense but what any other thoughts on the fortune apocalypse the end of the era it seems like the

00:31:09.360 the era has been ending since fortune was originally sold by chris pool in in 2015 that this has been

00:31:16.400 happening over a long period of time and also that internet culture is evolving and i also think that

00:31:23.520 this sort of reveals too that fortune was an inherently unstable thing and you can't really

00:31:27.760 have a resistant movement a resistance movement that stays in the same place like rebels can't have

00:31:33.440 a centralized rebel camp with a giant flag sticking up saying this is the rebel camp because inevitably

00:31:39.040 government spies start hanging out there mostly and the original rebel camp is now mostly full of

00:31:44.480 government operatives so it makes sense i guess i shouldn't be surprised that it happened but i do

00:31:50.640 really miss those days in which the news would report on a hacker named 4chan all the lovely things

00:31:57.440 well now it reports on us don't you know like the guardian article on you recently was just as

00:32:03.280 unhinged it was yeah it was extremely unhinged so the the the nazis who hate women and want to

00:32:10.880 send them to the mar-a-lago breeding pits malcolm and simone they they have become the new hacker known 0.96

00:32:17.120 known as 4chan trolls the neutrals yeah goodness gracious but i love it i love you too you are a

00:32:29.280 perfect husband i thank you for dealing with the news crews that came over today last minute that

00:32:33.440 was really tough of you i don't know they were actually pretty amazing so i have no regrets it's

00:32:39.600 kind of nice to see the kids in the middle of the day and they were so efficient so how can i be mad

00:32:44.800 mad exactly you can't be mad at efficiency that's exactly what you say about the nazis 0.95

00:32:55.600 oh my god we're going to hell we're so screwed love you did that simone i love you too 0.99

00:33:03.840 see if i can 0.99

00:33:07.760 what was that whinging

00:33:09.440 the reporters who called me this morning were like we're gonna come to your house at 12 today

00:33:15.200 this was inside edition was at our house today and they were so efficient i have never seen it

00:33:20.240 so nice yeah the most professional team just wow i can't wait till we're painted as a nazi extreme

00:33:28.880 the guardian article about us and being nazi like i want to do a whole episode on this article i think it's

00:33:34.160 interesting oh why that's your time would be are we nazis because they they really try to paint us

00:33:40.400 they like pretend that like in our home they they said that simone her outfit

00:33:45.520 is the traditional nazi outfit and it's like what they they they called her bonnets what was it

00:33:52.800 mother goose bonnets yeah well one got one bonnet that makes people look like mother goose and the other

00:33:57.360 one which resembles handmaid's tale and they're just one's a regency straw bonnet and the other is

00:34:03.840 just a normal like medieval style bonnet and they're not did they did they did they mention

00:34:10.720 the handmaid's tale one i didn't remember yeah yeah oh okay okay they i love that they're finally

00:34:16.480 realizing that they're being trolled a little and they're like they know they're being trolled but they

00:34:21.280 they still like some tone deaf kid keep going they just can't help themselves we are 100 trending

00:34:32.480 again we are 100 going viral again right now oh my god the number of news stories today well wolf blitzer

00:34:38.160 we were on this morning that was crazy situation room on cnn yeah yeah because like a character in

00:34:45.200 gurren laggan's attempt to i i wrote these executive orders or simone did and we just like

00:34:52.400 sent them in and then we told the new york times and then the new york times

00:34:58.640 and then somebody told trump like what do you think of this idea you know that didn't sound bad

00:35:03.120 and it's like wait is this how you do politics like it's it's like the gurren laggan version of combining

00:35:08.400 like we'll never know unless we try will we

00:35:20.960 you see that what do you think fuzzball we're the same as you

00:35:28.000 wow we were really able to combine you were right bro you were right sure looks that way doesn't it

00:35:32.880 wait how could you combine that is that is i'm sure to all the people who work so hard to have

00:35:41.200 their political views heard all we needed to do was freak out progressives into making making them

00:35:47.200 make this happen yeah yeah because i mean the only way that it works let the white house get informed

00:35:54.160 is because hey they keep getting asked by journalists about the executive orders we submit it's really funny

00:36:02.960 fantastic are we on the right sides yes all right so when did you start seeing these eggs when did

00:36:10.480 they come they come when they last morning and guess what it's easter day it's easter day who left

00:36:17.920 the eggs you guys the easter bunny the easter bunny why would a bunny lay eggs it's a mammal no

00:36:24.880 that easter bunny no that easter bunny comes in the night in the night yeah so it's nocturnal yeah

00:36:39.840 does it lay the eggs or does it just deliver the eggs it just it just because our chickens birds

00:36:49.680 lay eggs but do buddies lay eggs um they don't do it for them they just put them they're lying in the

00:36:58.320 box oh so it like comes with a box or a basket and then it puts them no you just gotta put it on the floor

00:37:04.000 oh just and then and then what happens you guys pick them up yeah and my steve is gonna help me

00:37:12.400 your your minecraft steve and toasty is your piggy gonna help you find easter eggs

00:37:16.960 yeah yeah and my steve too i'll get him i'll get my steve he's not a minecraft pig oh i see and
