00:00:00.120 Hello, beautiful ladies, and welcome to today's episode of The Scoop.
00:00:06.560 For those of you who are new here, The Scoop is our chance to have a girl chat, grab some
00:00:10.920 coffee, I've got some seltzer because it's the middle of the day, and we're just going
00:00:15.280 to hang out, go over our week, and just see how everybody's doing, which I really enjoy.
00:00:20.080 It's a way for me to catch up with you guys and just see what everyone's been up to.
00:00:24.300 So let's get into today's video.
00:00:25.860 So first of all, let's get something out of the way.
00:00:30.720 I'm going to talk about this every year when this time starts to roll around.
00:00:35.100 I already know it's not fall yet.
00:00:39.540 Every year, I think I have a video last year where I did the same thing, I get so frustrated
00:00:44.940 because they start saying that it is fall at the beginning of August.
00:00:48.760 Now I know it's not the beginning of August anymore, but we still have a month left of
00:00:52.520 summer, and everyone keeps saying, fall is coming, fall is here.
00:00:56.540 You walk into your grocery store, and you are going to see fall-themed foods and pumpkins,
00:01:02.380 and Halloween is not even close.
00:01:05.620 And it drives me crazy.
00:01:08.040 Now let me quickly say that I do really like fall.
00:01:11.300 I really like the first few weeks of fall, especially as the leaves start changing when
00:01:15.260 it's not too cold out, but we can start to pull out our sweaters and our cute and comfy
00:01:19.600 clothes.
00:01:20.220 I really do like that part of fall, and it is really fun, and I love Thanksgiving, and
00:01:25.200 there's a bunch of Jewish holidays in the fall, so I love that too because it's usually
00:01:28.260 a chance for family to see each other.
00:01:30.820 But I love summer so much, and I wait for it all year, and to let it go early?
00:01:37.100 Are you crazy?
00:01:38.360 Me personally, that's how I feel because I love summertime.
00:01:41.980 It feels like summer vacation even though it's not.
00:01:45.180 We still are working, of course, but we get to go to the pool, and you guys know how I
00:01:49.360 feel about summer.
00:01:49.980 So saying that fall is coming before fall is here is like a big no from me.
00:01:56.420 And so I've just sort of accepted that this is going to be a running joke on my channel
00:02:00.560 that I am not ready for fall to come when fall starts to make its way into our lives.
00:02:06.340 No, we're not doing that on my channel.
00:02:08.460 This is all going to stay very summery and springy, meaning my background, for as long as possible.
00:02:13.440 I am debating whether or not I want to change up my background a little bit based on the
00:02:17.180 seasons, maybe get something that's like a little bit more fallish for over here, and
00:02:21.500 maybe get something that's a little bit fallish for over there.
00:02:24.060 Let me know in the comments if you guys like that idea, if I just kind of change up my background
00:02:28.740 seasonally.
00:02:29.780 And I'll probably get things that are more like permanent background fixtures where,
00:02:33.440 okay, every single year I bring out these certain decorations because obviously I don't
00:02:37.240 want to spend a ton on my background every single year.
00:02:40.320 So just getting something that I can put out and kind of signify the change of seasons.
00:02:45.260 Let me know if that's something you guys would like to see, just to have a little bit of
00:02:47.620 variety in my videos.
00:02:48.980 But I am curious to hear your guys' thoughts.
00:02:51.560 And let me know, are you looking forward to fall?
00:02:53.720 Are you ready?
00:02:54.580 Are you a pumpkin spice latte kind of girl?
00:02:57.300 Let me know because a lot of people have strong feelings about it.
00:03:01.200 And especially if you're someone who lives in a really, really hot area and you don't
00:03:04.800 like the heat, I understand.
00:03:06.480 I do understand that, okay, fall is coming.
00:03:08.840 You're excited about that.
00:03:09.960 You don't have to be sweating every day.
00:03:11.960 But I will be happily sitting over here pretending that it's summer forever.
00:03:17.280 But it is interesting to me that we as people don't like anything to be the same for too
00:03:23.000 long.
00:03:23.420 We do like change.
00:03:24.900 I know that when the day does come, that fall is here, I actually look forward to that
00:03:29.900 because it's, oh, it's a difference.
00:03:31.360 It's a change.
00:03:32.080 And then when I think about it moving into winter, oh, it's a difference.
00:03:34.540 It's a change.
00:03:35.220 And then when I think about spring and summer, it's funny how we're kind of built for that.
00:03:39.240 We're built for change.
00:03:40.340 We're built for cycles.
00:03:41.940 We like when things kind of move in a direction.
00:03:44.800 And it's definitely part of life.
00:03:47.700 So I do enjoy fall when it comes.
00:03:51.000 I'm just not ready for it yet.
00:03:52.800 So next up, I wanted to talk a little bit about some YouTubers that I've been watching.
00:03:56.840 So I have recently been watching a lot of Jessica Braun's channel.
00:04:00.620 I really, really like her.
00:04:02.680 I like what she talks about.
00:04:04.140 And I enjoy her content quite a bit.
00:04:05.860 She's very open.
00:04:06.760 She seems like somebody who could be her friend.
00:04:08.440 She has a little daughter, and she's adorable.
00:04:11.120 And she's just very down-to-earth.
00:04:13.580 She's talking about being at home and working and making videos.
00:04:18.620 But also she talks a lot about beauty and skincare and hair stuff.
00:04:22.840 And I really do enjoy her content.
00:04:25.320 It's very relaxing for me.
00:04:27.200 And it's just stuff that I can kind of have on while I'm doing my makeup or cleaning the house or washing the dishes.
00:04:33.760 And I just like her whole vibe.
00:04:35.040 It's very laid back.
00:04:35.900 I also really enjoy Leanne Says' channel.
00:04:38.860 I really like her content.
00:04:40.180 It's very friendly and relatable.
00:04:42.240 She and her husband have been married around the same amount of time that Jacob and I have been married.
00:04:46.160 So it's fun to kind of follow them.
00:04:47.820 And they've been going on an IVF journey, which she's been very open about and sharing with her followers,
00:04:52.680 which is really wonderful for us to see.
00:04:55.220 And it's been, for them, a struggle.
00:04:57.180 But they're working through it.
00:04:58.240 And it's really a very nice thing that she's been so open about what she's been going through.
00:05:02.960 Because I know this is something that so many women struggle with.
00:05:06.080 So it's nice to see somebody out there who's really talking about it.
00:05:09.640 And then she also does declutters and fashion hauls and beauty stuff.
00:05:14.060 And I just really like her channel, too, because it is very relatable.
00:05:17.780 And her vlogs are my favorite vlogs on the internet.
00:05:19.780 I don't watch vlogs very often, but her vlogs I really enjoy because it's just her spending time with her husband.
00:05:26.800 And they're in Texas and they like to go out.
00:05:29.420 Obviously not right now.
00:05:30.660 They don't really do that during the pandemic.
00:05:32.060 But before the pandemic, they were touring around a bit.
00:05:34.560 And it was interesting to see kind of the area and see all the different places they would visit.
00:05:39.280 And that's really fun to watch, too.
00:05:40.740 So I really enjoy her channel and I will link it down below along with Jessica Bronze.
00:05:45.320 And then on an entirely different note, I really like allears.net.
00:05:49.700 If you are somebody who is trying to plan a trip to Disney World, obviously probably not really doing that right now.
00:05:55.800 But maybe you are.
00:05:56.760 Or if you're somebody who's just interested in Disney World or likes Disney World a lot.
00:06:00.300 They have a woman named Molly who they call their correspondent.
00:06:02.940 And she goes to Disney World really often.
00:06:05.000 And also Universal Studios out there.
00:06:07.160 And she does all these different challenges and tries to show you how you can have the best time while you're there.
00:06:12.760 And it's just enjoyable to follow someone around in Disney World since we can't go.
00:06:17.040 She can go for us.
00:06:18.100 And we can kind of live vicariously through her.
00:06:20.220 So I've really enjoyed their videos quite a bit.
00:06:22.500 Now, on a political note, I do want to mention Louder with Crowder.
00:06:26.380 Now, I know his channel is a little bit controversial.
00:06:30.000 But I do want to point out just a couple of his videos that I think are really, really great.
00:06:35.000 His Change My Mind videos are really, really well done.
00:06:38.640 Because he does try to encourage good conversation.
00:06:42.740 And especially his pro-life videos.
00:06:45.640 His pro-life videos are really, really interesting.
00:06:49.480 Because you can see the other side and you can see how he responds.
00:06:53.160 And it can teach you how to respond to concerns from the other side.
00:06:58.080 So I really enjoy watching those.
00:07:00.480 I find them very educational.
00:07:02.060 Especially, like I said, the pro-life Change My Minds.
00:07:04.600 If you're looking for a way to educate yourself on how to have a discussion with someone who's on the other side of the argument.
00:07:10.200 That's one of the places that I would start.
00:07:11.900 Because he really does show you, okay, somebody says this.
00:07:14.880 I can respond by pointing out this.
00:07:17.060 And it makes you feel a little bit more comfortable if you are in a conversation with someone about being pro-life or them being pro-choice.
00:07:24.140 So let me know in the comments down below some of your favorite YouTubers to watch.
00:07:26.920 I love getting recommendations from you guys and hearing what you've been watching.
00:07:31.060 I want to see what you guys like.
00:07:32.580 So please let me know in the comments who you've been watching and what you've been enjoying.
00:07:35.920 Next up, I want to talk about something that I learned this week.
00:07:38.160 And something that I'm trying to incorporate into my life a little bit.
00:07:40.800 So I had a conversation with a friend of mine who is moving.
00:07:43.900 And she called me in a panic.
00:07:46.940 And it was very, very stressful.
00:07:49.380 And I could tell that it didn't need to be that stressful.
00:07:52.340 Now, I've moved a few times.
00:07:54.720 So I'm not saying that moving isn't stressful.
00:07:56.900 It is very stressful.
00:07:57.840 But that panicky feeling of, oh my gosh, oh my gosh, was a little bit too much.
00:08:03.360 It was not warranted.
00:08:05.220 And she probably could have taken a couple of deep breaths and calmed herself down.
00:08:09.380 And I tried to help her do that.
00:08:10.880 But I don't think she was in the mental headspace for it.
00:08:13.880 And that really made me sit down and think.
00:08:15.600 Because I think it's really hard to be classic when you're not calm and collected.
00:08:21.120 It's really hard to keep your cool and be a lady when things feel crazy and panicked and really off kilter.
00:08:30.180 And so I've been trying to gather my feelings and gather my thoughts and try and be more calm
00:08:37.140 so that I can differentiate between what's big stuff and what's small stuff.
00:08:41.720 What's something that I really do need to get worked up about?
00:08:44.660 And what's something that I can stay calm and collected about?
00:08:48.100 What's something that I would actually be more effective if I were calm and collected?
00:08:52.500 And I felt that I feel a lot more zen since I've thought about this.
00:08:57.380 Where I question myself before I go to a panic place.
00:09:01.820 Or I question myself before I feel frazzled.
00:09:04.700 And I say, is this warranted?
00:09:07.800 Is this necessary?
00:09:09.740 Is it?
00:09:10.520 Is it not?
00:09:11.300 And if it is, okay, maybe I can start to move into the panic place.
00:09:15.500 But most of the time, 95% of the time, it's not.
00:09:19.720 It's actually much easier to get things done when I'm calm and collected.
00:09:24.520 And I feel like I have more clarity about things.
00:09:27.980 And so trying to take a deep breath when I'm starting to feel overwhelmed and say,
00:09:32.980 okay, can I accomplish this realistically?
00:09:37.980 And how can I accomplish this realistically?
00:09:40.760 How can I take control of what I can control so that this isn't overwhelming?
00:09:46.540 And all of a sudden, it's like the crazy sounds in my brain shut off.
00:09:52.320 And I'm able to really get done what I need to.
00:09:55.040 And that has been so refreshing.
00:09:58.840 And really something I value.
00:10:01.980 And I want to keep incorporating into my life.
00:10:05.580 And I'm a huge fan of affirmations.
00:10:07.420 I've talked about that on my channel before.
00:10:09.200 So I've started writing some things down.
00:10:11.380 Like classic starts with being calm.
00:10:14.360 That really helps me when I start to feel,
00:10:17.360 oh my gosh, everything's out of control.
00:10:19.160 No, it's not.
00:10:20.500 You don't have to be out of control.
00:10:22.540 You don't have to feel crazed.
00:10:24.920 If you aren't crazed, then you'll actually deal with the situation better.
00:10:28.340 And I'm feeling very grateful that I had this conversation with that friend
00:10:32.480 so that I could learn to kind of take myself down a notch
00:10:36.220 when it came to being overwhelmed and being panicked.
00:10:40.240 And actually, I took advantage of this the other day.
00:10:43.620 We got home.
00:10:44.360 Jacob and I got home from running errands.
00:10:46.140 And we were hosting some people.
00:10:48.080 And I was feeling overwhelmed.
00:10:49.860 And Jacob said,
00:10:50.780 why don't you just take 20 minutes,
00:10:53.260 go to the pool,
00:10:54.820 and clear your head.
00:10:56.400 Leave your phone here.
00:10:57.480 Just sit there.
00:10:58.620 Maybe bring a book or something.
00:10:59.640 And that's what I did.
00:11:01.820 And it was so helpful.
00:11:03.720 That 20-minute interval of,
00:11:05.680 okay, I'm just going to not be on my phone.
00:11:07.500 No one can reach out to me.
00:11:09.460 I can just relax.
00:11:12.340 Really cleared my head.
00:11:13.760 And I had a beautiful, wonderful evening after that.
00:11:16.440 And just sometimes it takes
00:11:18.020 really just shutting everything off around you
00:11:20.740 and saying,
00:11:21.720 okay, I need to calm down.
00:11:24.800 I need to meditate,
00:11:27.140 if that's what works for you.
00:11:28.320 I need to pray.
00:11:31.000 I need to sit in silence.
00:11:33.660 And maybe be around people,
00:11:36.120 which was what worked for me.
00:11:37.400 Being around people.
00:11:38.540 But me sitting in silence
00:11:39.720 was a great way for me
00:11:41.520 to find that zen feeling.
00:11:43.760 And it was super helpful.
00:11:45.900 And I'm very, very grateful to my husband
00:11:47.700 for being on board with that.
00:11:49.420 For saying, it's okay.
00:11:50.300 You're allowed to take a few minutes.
00:11:51.740 It's a good thing, actually,
00:11:53.100 for you to take a couple minutes
00:11:54.440 and just refresh.
00:11:56.060 And it's good for him, too,
00:11:57.220 because then he doesn't have to deal with panic, Dabby.
00:12:00.260 So I've been really grateful for that.
00:12:02.840 Let me know how you feel about that.
00:12:04.440 Do you think that classic starts with being calm?
00:12:06.740 Because I think it does.
00:12:08.180 I really think it does.
00:12:09.240 Next up, I want to talk about a couple of movies
00:12:11.080 that we've been watching.
00:12:12.420 Jacob and I have gotten into having some movie nights.
00:12:15.480 So we've been doing this Keanu Reeves marathon,
00:12:18.040 which has been fun.
00:12:19.000 And we watched Speed.
00:12:20.640 Speed is such a good movie.
00:12:22.960 It is so much fun.
00:12:24.000 First of all, I love Sandra Bullock.
00:12:26.080 And Jacob told me that Sandra Bullock in that movie
00:12:28.560 reminds him of me,
00:12:29.820 which was a huge compliment,
00:12:31.680 because A, she's gorgeous,
00:12:33.260 and B, her character is very strong,
00:12:35.080 and she gets done what she needs to get done.
00:12:36.880 But I love that movie.
00:12:38.140 It's so much fun.
00:12:39.700 It's really good action.
00:12:41.780 They ramp up the tension time and time again.
00:12:44.300 And it is amazing how they do it.
00:12:46.380 It is such a well-done film.
00:12:49.140 So if you're interested in another action movie,
00:12:51.400 because that's what I've been recommending lately,
00:12:53.760 then definitely check out Speed.
00:12:56.200 It's really good.
00:12:56.980 Next up, I want to talk about Amadeus.
00:12:59.600 Who here has seen Amadeus?
00:13:01.560 It is fantastic.
00:13:04.300 So good.
00:13:06.000 So intense.
00:13:07.740 And for someone who loves music,
00:13:09.120 oh my gosh, it is great.
00:13:10.740 And for someone who doesn't know that much about music,
00:13:13.060 but could appreciate it,
00:13:14.220 it's a really good place to start.
00:13:16.380 That film is fantastic.
00:13:19.180 The struggle between a man who was born with talent
00:13:22.280 and a man who believes that he has dedicated himself to God
00:13:26.340 and is angry at God for not giving him the same talent
00:13:29.240 as this kind of boorish person.
00:13:31.760 Mozart and Salieri.
00:13:33.500 Now, much of this is not accurate,
00:13:35.640 and much of it is not historically accurate.
00:13:37.700 Some of it is, though.
00:13:39.140 And it is just a good place to start
00:13:41.120 when you are learning about music.
00:13:42.620 When you want to learn more about Mozart's music,
00:13:44.820 you're just introduced to it in a natural way in the film.
00:13:48.040 And it's so well done
00:13:50.180 because that is an incredibly intense conflict.
00:13:53.340 The feeling of,
00:13:54.660 why didn't God give me the talent that I so pine for?
00:13:58.380 And being able to see it in another person
00:14:00.320 who is not godly.
00:14:02.540 How do you reconcile that?
00:14:04.560 And it's just fascinating.
00:14:06.280 The acting is amazing.
00:14:07.760 The production values are incredible.
00:14:09.500 The music, of course, it's Mozart,
00:14:11.020 so it's amazing.
00:14:13.740 And it holds up.
00:14:15.540 I mean, it was made in the 80s,
00:14:17.240 and it is still incredibly well done.
00:14:21.240 Like, incredible.
00:14:22.800 All of the performances are awesome.
00:14:25.520 And the movie itself is dealing with these really big themes.
00:14:30.020 I don't know that it finds a resolution,
00:14:31.920 but it is a really incredible, incredible script, story.
00:14:36.860 Everything in that movie I just love.
00:14:39.120 And there's a scene specifically near the end
00:14:42.020 where you see Mozart writing his Requiem.
00:14:47.300 Oh my gosh.
00:14:48.180 I don't know if it's because I know a little bit about music composition
00:14:52.020 and I know about classical music,
00:14:53.480 or if anyone would feel this way,
00:14:55.120 but watching it gave me chills.
00:14:57.120 And I've seen this movie before,
00:14:58.340 so Jacob hadn't seen it.
00:14:59.840 I wanted him to see it,
00:15:00.600 so that's why we rewatched it.
00:15:01.840 And it is so well done.
00:15:04.040 So, if you're looking for a long but very good movie,
00:15:09.040 Amadeus.
00:15:10.000 Let me know in the comments if you've seen it,
00:15:11.320 because I don't know how many people of our generation have,
00:15:14.160 but it is very, very good.
00:15:16.140 Of course, any movie that I recommend on my channel,
00:15:18.480 please check for yourself if there's anything in it
00:15:20.660 that you would find inappropriate.
00:15:22.540 Of course, a lot of the things I'm recommending
00:15:24.020 are not for children,
00:15:25.140 so don't show it to your kids.
00:15:27.200 But most movies, unless they're PG,
00:15:29.200 are going to have some level of either violence or sexuality.
00:15:34.280 So just always be careful when you're watching those movies
00:15:36.440 and do your research beforehand
00:15:38.160 if that's not something you're comfortable with.
00:15:40.240 But really good movies and worth watching.
00:15:42.900 Totally different, but very, very good.
00:15:44.920 And that's everything for this week's episode of The Scoop.
00:15:47.440 I had a really good time catching up with you guys this week.
