00:00:00.080 Hello beautiful ladies and welcome to today's video where I'm going to be showing you how
00:00:04.400 to get the perfect classic and conservative first date hair and makeup look and go from
00:00:09.880 looking like this to this.
00:00:15.640 Doing your makeup for a first date is actually really important because you want to make
00:00:18.880 a good first impression but you also want to show who you really are and so you don't
00:00:22.600 want to show a makeup look that's really intense or totally doesn't look like you.
00:00:27.760 You want to look like you but slightly better.
00:00:30.160 So I'm really excited to show you how to achieve this look and to get hair that looks just slightly
00:00:34.840 better than what yours normally looks like and to do your makeup in a way that makes you
00:00:38.080 look even more beautiful.
00:00:39.860 So let's get into it.
00:00:41.440 So the first thing I'm going to do is actually start with my hair.
00:00:44.220 So I'm just going to take out this bun, if I can, and we're just going to part our hair
00:00:51.980 exactly where we want it to be parted.
00:00:54.520 So I want my hair parted down the middle and I'm going to actually put in dry shampoo.
00:01:00.940 Even though my hair is clean, I'm going to put dry shampoo in just right at the roots
00:01:10.340 because that will give more longevity to my hair.
00:01:13.140 If you put dry shampoo in actually before it gets oily, it'll absorb the oil before it
00:01:18.380 even kind of gets oily.
00:01:21.720 And I want to keep this easy because who wants to take two and a half, three hours to get
00:01:25.560 ready for a date?
00:01:26.560 I mean, most of the time you don't have that much time.
00:01:29.660 And even if you do, do you really want to spend that whole time just getting ready?
00:01:33.660 Not so much.
00:01:34.660 So if we can keep it a little bit faster and still get it done, I think that's the best
00:01:38.720 possible outcome.
00:01:40.620 So I'll be using the Kristen S curling iron and I think this is an inch and a quarter and
00:01:45.620 I really like this curling iron.
00:01:47.340 It's from Target.
00:01:48.340 It's not too pricey, but it does a really good job and it holds a curl.
00:01:51.760 So I'm just going to start off by taking a random piece of hair and I'm going to take
00:01:56.900 my curling iron and I want to curl away from my face.
00:02:00.300 So I'm going to put this about two inches from the bottom of my hair and then curl up
00:02:06.160 and then I'm going to uncurl it and slide it down the barrel.
00:02:11.560 And that gives a really natural kind of beachy curl and I really like the way that looks.
00:02:17.000 So the reason I'm just doing it kind of randomly is because what you may find out is that you
00:02:21.000 don't actually have to curl your entire head.
00:02:24.600 You may end up finding that like the hair sort of blends together, which is easier because
00:02:30.060 then you don't have to separate it and put it on top.
00:02:33.300 And you also don't have to hold it very long on the barrel.
00:02:37.720 You probably have to hold it less time than you might think.
00:02:41.500 And what I also do is I might alternate curls.
00:02:44.680 So I might do some away from my face and then some towards my face.
00:02:47.500 So I'm going to do this one towards my face and I'm going to clamp it and just wind it
00:02:54.280 up, hold it for maybe three seconds and then I'm going to unwind it.
00:02:59.740 And slide it out of the barrel.
00:03:03.280 And the sliding it out of the barrel will smooth the ends so it doesn't get a really intense
00:03:06.880 curl on the bottom, but it just looks smoother and less frizzy or whatever it is.
00:03:13.100 So the thing for me about doing your hair and makeup for a first date is that you really
00:03:17.720 just want to look like yourself but better.
00:03:20.900 So I'm not trying to do like a really intense curl that's not even similar at all to my natural
00:03:26.580 hair texture because I'm not trying to look like someone that I'm not.
00:03:30.120 I want to look like myself just slightly more classic.
00:03:33.820 And doing your hair and makeup in a way that just accentuates your natural beauty is the
00:03:38.840 best thing to do for a first date because you want him to see what you really look like
00:03:43.420 just slightly more elevated.
00:03:45.120 So what's your favorite thing about first dates?
00:03:48.660 Oh my gosh.
00:03:49.660 First dates were always kind of fun but also stressful, right?
00:03:53.080 Like what's he going to be like?
00:03:55.080 Oh my gosh.
00:03:56.080 I'm with a stranger for a couple of hours and I don't know if we're going to have anything
00:03:59.240 in common.
00:04:00.240 Or maybe it's someone you know.
00:04:01.660 Hopefully it goes well.
00:04:02.660 I don't want to ruin a friendship depending on the first date.
00:04:06.520 Let me know in the comments down below what your favorite first date activity is.
00:04:12.120 Do you like going out to dinner?
00:04:13.120 Do you like seeing a movie?
00:04:15.120 Do you like going for a walk?
00:04:16.800 I always liked going to dinner because I always felt like that's a way for us to actually
00:04:21.000 get to know each other and it wouldn't make it so we had to go on a second date to actually
00:04:25.740 learn anything about each other.
00:04:28.140 But I do like the idea of going to dinner and a movie because if things are going well
00:04:32.580 then you have a shared experience from the first date which is so awesome.
00:04:36.740 The reason we do our hair first and not our makeup first is because I don't want my makeup
00:04:43.900 to get messed up because I'm sweating.
00:04:47.180 When you're using heat tools your face can get a little bit overheated and so you don't
00:04:50.820 want to do all of your makeup and have it look really nice and then you just have to
00:04:54.600 redo everything because you got sweaty.
00:04:57.360 So as you can see I'm going through my hair pretty quickly.
00:05:00.800 Like this isn't taking very long especially because I'm just taking small sections from
00:05:04.480 all around my head and I didn't section it off.
00:05:06.820 Now I'm not against sectioning off my hair most of the time.
00:05:09.800 If I want to take more time and be really a perfectionist about it then I'll do that.
00:05:14.480 But if I'm not trying to be a perfectionist I'm probably not going to do that and I'm
00:05:17.980 just going to leave it down and do it sort of messily.
00:05:21.680 But I think it looks really nice and it moves pretty quickly.
00:05:24.560 What's your most memorable first date?
00:05:28.500 Do you have any good stories?
00:05:30.060 If you do leave them in the comments.
00:05:31.620 I love hearing people's dating stories and sometimes they can be so funny.
00:05:37.280 So as you can see this side of my hair is done.
00:05:40.380 This side is not.
00:05:41.380 But that really didn't take very long at all.
00:05:43.520 And so now I'm just going to do this side of my hair.
00:05:45.960 So what was your first date like?
00:05:47.800 If you have a significant other, what was your first date like with them?
00:05:53.220 Did it go well right off the bat?
00:05:55.480 Did you have a first date?
00:05:57.360 Or was it more just like friends turning into a relationship?
00:06:00.920 I am curious to know.
00:06:03.480 Because for me and my husband, we kind of never actually had a first date.
00:06:08.140 We started talking and then it sort of very quickly turned into just us hanging out, which
00:06:14.200 is funny.
00:06:15.360 But we did go on one lunch that I sort of pretend is our first date.
00:06:20.920 But I don't know that it actually was.
00:06:22.580 If you guys want ideas for first date outfits, I was also thinking about doing a video about
00:06:28.780 that because I think it sort of falls in the same category of looking like yourself but
00:06:35.080 better and wanting to just dress really nicely but not overwhelmingly fancy or anything, just
00:06:40.920 kind of looking pretty and feminine and accentuating your best features and all of that.
00:06:47.680 So let me know in the comments if that's something you guys want to see.
00:06:51.860 So another way you can do your hair for first dates is if you have more naturally straight
00:06:58.440 hair but it just has some waves in it, you can use a hair straightener and just straighten
00:07:02.740 it completely.
00:07:04.120 Or if you have really curly hair but sometimes there are some like weird pieces that don't
00:07:07.580 actually follow the wave pattern or the curl pattern rather, you can just find a small
00:07:13.480 curling iron and curl a few of those pieces that don't actually match your curl pattern.
00:07:18.860 Or you don't have to use a heat tool at all.
00:07:21.100 You can just take your natural texture, if you have like beautiful wavy natural texture,
00:07:25.560 just make it look moisturized, put like a shine spray in it and then make sure it doesn't
00:07:29.380 look oily but it will look gorgeous.
00:07:31.700 I wish I had naturally like a normal wave pattern because I have really wavy hair on the bottom
00:07:38.480 layer of my hair and then the top is straight.
00:07:41.480 And it's just like, well I can't just leave it like this, it looks crazy.
00:07:46.060 But what you can see I'm sort of doing is I'll sort of just like curl randomly and it's
00:07:50.300 more towards the front of my face and then I'll pull the rest of my hair back and then
00:07:54.840 just start sectioning off pieces and bringing it forward so that it is in a way sectioning
00:07:59.960 just much less intense of a process and it's a little bit easier.
00:08:05.460 So how do you meet people most of the time?
00:08:08.700 Do you meet them through apps or friends or school or how do you meet people?
00:08:14.280 Because I went on a ton of first dates when I was in New York and most of them I actually
00:08:20.320 met through apps.
00:08:21.500 I used Coffee Meets Bagel, J-Swipe.
00:08:25.280 It's not how I met my husband.
00:08:27.280 It has been through a mutual friend but I was dating a lot through apps and that was
00:08:32.420 how I was meeting people so it was very interesting.
00:08:35.600 And actually my favorite app at the time was Coffee Meets Bagel because I felt like people
00:08:38.760 actually had to write more of a bio than something like J-Swipe or Tinder.
00:08:44.480 J-Swipe is the Jewish version of Tinder.
00:08:47.220 It's just Jews on there and you swipe and you decide if you're going to go out with
00:08:51.440 people.
00:08:52.440 I did meet people through that too but I liked Coffee Meets Bagel better because you actually
00:08:56.540 had to write more of a description most of the time.
00:08:59.380 And I'll be honest, if you had a nice picture but you didn't have anything written in your
00:09:03.460 description I didn't accept that and I didn't go on a date with you because I wanted to know
00:09:08.080 who you are not just what you looked like.
00:09:10.300 And just to finish this off I'm going to curl my bangs.
00:09:14.440 So I just curl them away from my face.
00:09:22.380 And this one I kind of like slide off so it lays with the rest of the curl.
00:09:31.300 And I like it when they kind of like floof down, if that's a word, floof.
00:09:37.620 And that's my hair curled.
00:09:39.880 So what I'm going to do is I'm going to wait for these curls to cool down and set because
00:09:43.840 if you brush them out then they're not going to hold the curl as well.
00:09:47.500 And my hair has a hard time holding a curl.
00:09:50.120 So I'm just going to wait for these curls to cool down and in the meantime what I'm going
00:09:54.320 to do is I'm going to spray them just so that hopefully they hold better.
00:09:59.240 So we're just going to go through and spray.
00:10:05.960 And I'm going to put in some texturizing spray.
00:10:08.340 So this is the OGX Dry Texture Finishing Spray and I love this stuff.
00:10:13.580 Oh my gosh.
00:10:14.580 It smells really weird so just maybe ignore that but it does such a good job of texturizing
00:10:20.960 the hair and giving it some extra hold.
00:10:23.160 And I actually do put it near the roots and near the front of my hair.
00:10:27.580 And I'm not going to run my fingers through it yet and separate until it's cooled down.
00:10:34.040 Okay guys.
00:10:35.040 So now it's time to do the makeup and I love this part as you know.
00:10:40.460 So what I'm going to do is I'm actually going to say before each step whether it's necessary
00:10:44.640 or not.
00:10:45.820 And you can decide whether you want to skip it or not.
00:10:48.280 So I'm going to be showing you all of the steps and then you can decide whether or not
00:10:51.220 you want to do all of the steps.
00:10:52.580 You can skip some of them.
00:10:53.580 The first thing I'm going to do is put on primer.
00:10:56.300 So I actually have two primers.
00:10:58.380 Very fancy I know.
00:10:59.780 Probably overkill but I can do it so I will.
00:11:04.020 But this is again an unnecessary step unless you want to really have longevity to your makeup.
00:11:08.920 And it's good for creating a smooth base.
00:11:11.460 But it's really not necessary.
00:11:12.900 If you don't have primer don't worry about it.
00:11:14.800 If you do go ahead and choose your favorite.
00:11:17.300 I'm going to be using my L'Oreal Infallible Matte Lock which I've been really loving.
00:11:23.500 It's been creating this really smooth base and helping keep my oil at bay.
00:11:28.120 So I have combo skin.
00:11:29.620 Some parts of my skin are really oily.
00:11:31.880 Some parts are really dry.
00:11:34.120 And some parts are just normal.
00:11:35.600 So I like this one.
00:11:36.880 I think that this primer really kind of deals with it all.
00:11:40.160 And I'm going to tuck my hair behind my ears here.
00:11:42.940 And I'm just going to smooth that on my face.
00:11:46.500 Now if you're looking for a pore filling primer then you might like this one.
00:11:49.400 This is the L'Oreal Magic Perfecting Base.
00:11:51.380 It looks like this.
00:11:52.380 I've had this for a long time.
00:11:54.500 And I just take it on my nail.
00:11:57.440 And I put it on this part of my face.
00:12:01.540 On my cheeks.
00:12:02.540 Because that's where I have my biggest pores.
00:12:04.220 And I just smooth it out.
00:12:05.940 And it just creates this really smooth base.
00:12:08.780 Step two is foundation.
00:12:10.120 So this one is necessary.
00:12:12.060 And I'm going to be using two foundations mixed together.
00:12:14.440 Because the colors are a little off.
00:12:15.940 This one's a little bit light for me.
00:12:17.180 And this one's a little bit dark for me.
00:12:18.660 So this is the No.7 Stay Perfect Foundation.
00:12:21.800 And this is the Dream Urban Cover by Maybelline.
00:12:24.420 Now I want to use a less full coverage foundation.
00:12:28.100 Because I want my skin to look nice but not like skin.
00:12:32.360 Since we're looking to go a little bit more natural.
00:12:35.200 And just like your skin but better.
00:12:37.080 So I'm just going to mix these together.
00:12:38.740 And I'm going to take a damp sponge and tap that in.
00:12:42.780 And we're really just looking to even the skin tone.
00:12:45.860 I don't want to matte out everything.
00:12:47.600 That's not my point.
00:12:48.600 My point is just to even out any discoloration.
00:12:51.540 I have a lot of redness on my skin.
00:12:53.680 So this just kind of brings a nice evenness to my skin.
00:12:59.400 Now if you have freckles, don't cover them.
00:13:02.620 Freckles are the cutest.
00:13:03.580 And they're so pretty.
00:13:04.780 And that's not the point of foundation.
00:13:05.780 The point of foundation isn't to just cover up your natural features.
00:13:10.280 The point of foundation is, like I said, to even out your skin tone.
00:13:13.140 So don't try and cover those up.
00:13:19.360 So now that I'm all evened out, I'm going to go in with concealer.
00:13:22.820 This I would say is a necessary step.
00:13:24.860 But there's two parts to it.
00:13:26.100 There's concealer for under the eyes.
00:13:27.620 And then concealer for any zits or acne or scars.
00:13:31.280 So if you don't have zits or acne or scars, skip that part of the concealer.
00:13:35.300 But if you want to cover up any dark eye circles, then I would keep that in this whole
00:13:39.680 process.
00:13:40.680 So I'm going to start off with the eye circles.
00:13:42.580 I'm using the Charlotte Tilbury.
00:13:44.080 I think it's called the Magic Eraser.
00:13:45.960 And I'm using number one Fair.
00:13:48.620 And this is a color corrector.
00:13:50.320 But I find that when I use this, I don't actually have to use an additional concealer on top.
00:13:54.440 It doesn't look really pink on.
00:13:56.600 It's very interesting.
00:13:57.600 So I'm just going to take that on my finger.
00:13:59.200 And I'm going to tap that in the inner corner.
00:14:03.140 And underneath the eye.
00:14:05.700 So that I get a little bit of coverage.
00:14:09.620 And it just kind of makes my eye circles go away.
00:14:12.800 You can see there's definitely a difference when you look and compare.
00:14:16.140 One has a little bit more purple.
00:14:18.140 And the other is a little bit more concealed.
00:14:22.760 So before that creases, I'm actually going to take this little tiny sponge and I'm going
00:14:27.140 to tap that out just to make sure there's no creases.
00:14:29.140 And then I'm going to go into my number seven powder.
00:14:33.140 And I'm going to tap the same sponge in and tap under the eye just to set that.
00:14:39.860 Because I have a million little creases and they're always going to get creasy so I can't
00:14:43.940 stop it.
00:14:44.940 But I can try my best to prevent it.
00:14:48.900 That's the only place I'm going to powder because I'm going to be using creams for the
00:14:52.020 rest of my face.
00:14:53.020 I want this to look as natural as possible so creams are really the way to do that.
00:14:57.340 Now I'm going to go into my Boing Concealer from Benefit and I'm just going to take this
00:15:01.420 brush here and I'm going to go over any spots I want a little bit more coverage because
00:15:06.800 of acne or scars.
00:15:08.260 Of course, that's not something I consider full coverage, oh you're covering up your
00:15:13.400 skin.
00:15:14.400 I mean acne isn't super, it's not like it's part of your face.
00:15:18.360 It's something that comes and goes so you don't have to feel ashamed for covering up your
00:15:22.380 acne.
00:15:23.380 Not at all.
00:15:24.380 And I had to get really good at that when I had more problematic skin.
00:15:31.100 And if you want, you can put a little bit around your nose because I get a lot of redness
00:15:34.900 around your nose and that's pretty natural for women.
00:15:38.740 Next up I'm going to do my brows.
00:15:40.700 So I'm just going to dip into the LA Girl Brow Pomade and I'm just going to fill this
00:15:44.640 in like barely at all.
00:15:46.140 I don't want to do something really intense for my eyebrows because I want my eyebrows
00:15:51.060 to look mostly natural.
00:15:55.440 And just to hold the brow hairs in place, I'm going to be using the CoverGirl Easy
00:15:59.120 Breezy Brow just to keep those hairs where I want them.
00:16:07.080 And for the brows, that's really up to you.
00:16:09.160 If you have really full brows and you don't feel like you need pomade or anything to hold
00:16:12.900 them in place, don't do it.
00:16:14.460 If you feel like you need to fill them in more, go ahead and do that.
00:16:17.640 This one is up to you.
00:16:18.880 I'll leave brows to you.
00:16:20.400 Now I'm going to put on blush.
00:16:21.620 I would say this is a necessary step just so that when you put on foundation it doesn't
00:16:25.900 totally block out what your natural kind of flushed face looks like and make you look
00:16:30.480 like you're not alive.
00:16:33.080 So I'm going to put that on a little stippling brush.
00:16:34.960 This is the Milani Cheek Kiss in Nude Flush.
00:16:38.900 And I'm just going to tap that on the back of my hand and then tap it on my cheeks.
00:16:45.560 And you can see I'm pretty much stippling and swirling.
00:16:48.280 The nice thing about this blush, this cream blush, is that it's pretty forgiving.
00:16:52.300 So if you are putting on, you're not going to put on too much.
00:16:56.000 Pretty rarely will you do that.
00:16:57.440 And if you do, you can always go in with your damp sponge and pat that out.
00:17:02.740 That is totally fine.
00:17:05.600 Just to soften things up.
00:17:07.480 Next up is contouring or bronzing depending on what kind of shade you're using.
00:17:13.080 I think this is necessary because I think that your kind of natural curves and angles
00:17:19.140 of your face can get tamped down when you put on foundation.
00:17:22.800 So bringing a little bit of that back into your face makes it look more angular and gives
00:17:27.000 it a little bit more shape.
00:17:28.580 But it really depends on your preference.
00:17:30.520 If you don't want to do it, you don't have to.
00:17:32.100 So I'm going to be taking the Wet n Wild Dual Ended Contour Stick and I'm going to dip
00:17:37.080 into it just with a brush.
00:17:38.080 I'm actually going to just tap the top of this here.
00:17:41.040 And then I'm going to dab it off on the back of my hand a little bit.
00:17:44.020 And then go in on my cheek and tap.
00:17:47.460 Just right in the cheekbone area, underneath the cheekbone.
00:17:52.760 And just around the forehead a little bit.
00:17:57.440 Just to bring some color back into the skin.
00:18:01.340 And for me, I'm going to do it down the sides of my nose.
00:18:06.400 Now that we've done all of our cream products, we can go ahead and set it down.
00:18:09.700 I'm going to use a number seven powder.
00:18:12.380 Depending on the products that you're using, you may not need to set it down with powder.
00:18:15.480 And also depending on your skin type, if you have dry skin, you probably don't need to
00:18:19.540 set it down.
00:18:20.540 But because I have combo, I'm going to set it and make sure it lasts.
00:18:23.480 I want it to be long lasting because hey, if the first date goes well, it might end up
00:18:27.380 going longer than you expected.
00:18:29.000 So it's always nice to make sure that your makeup is going to last throughout the date.
00:18:33.300 So I would say it's necessary, but depending on your skin type, it doesn't necessarily have
00:18:37.760 to be.
00:18:38.760 Here's another optional step.
00:18:40.260 I'm going to take a highlighter.
00:18:42.240 This is the Essence Pure Nude.
00:18:44.160 And just put it right on the tops of my cheekbones and down my nose.
00:18:48.920 And I'm doing this just to add a little bit more kind of healthiness to the skin.
00:18:53.700 And this is a very natural highlight, so it doesn't look like you're wearing highlight.
00:18:58.440 It looks like your skin is kind of glowing from within.
00:19:01.080 So it's not necessary, but it's kind of like a nice addition.
00:19:04.480 And then this is again another nice addition, not necessary, putting on a setting spray.
00:19:09.660 And I actually do this before I do my eye makeup because my eye makeup can sometimes get ruined
00:19:14.420 or my mascara will run.
00:19:15.420 So just doing this on kind of like the skin level will just melt everything together and
00:19:20.960 make it look really natural.
00:19:24.180 So I'm going to finish off with the eyes.
00:19:30.940 I'm going to put on this Lorac Pro Rosé shade.
00:19:35.720 And I'm just going to use my finger to apply this.
00:19:37.980 I think this is the prettiest shade.
00:19:40.140 And it makes it look like you're wearing more than one eye shadow.
00:19:43.120 You don't have to go crazy with eye shadow on a first date.
00:19:46.540 You just want it to look like you put in a little bit of effort.
00:19:50.440 And this can really just be enough.
00:19:52.160 Just like one shade that has a lot of dimension in it.
00:19:55.980 And you can choose whatever shade kind of fits your skin tone.
00:19:59.280 So for me this is really pretty, but if you want to go with something that's like a little
00:20:03.180 bit more taupey or something that's a little bit more silver, you totally can.
00:20:08.060 Just use something that's subtle and not like really out there, but just is close-ish to
00:20:14.240 your skin tone with like a hint of sparkle or shine or whatever it is.
00:20:17.740 I'm just going to blend out the edges here.
00:20:21.860 And then we just throw on some mascara.
00:20:23.620 So I am going to curl my lashes and put on some mascara.
00:20:29.000 I'm going to be using the Maybelline Falsies mascara.
00:20:33.740 And I'm going to put that on.
00:20:40.160 And then I'm going to put a little bit of mascara on my bottom lashes.
00:20:47.740 And to finish off this look, I'm just going to put on a long-lasting lipstick that's super
00:20:52.040 natural.
00:20:53.040 So this is the Liquid Catsuit Wet n' Wild lipstick in Give Me Mocha.
00:20:56.660 I actually talked about this in my Ask Me Anything video and oh my gosh, I love this lipstick.
00:21:06.200 And as you can see, it's pretty natural, it's just myself, but a little bit better.
00:21:11.100 And that is like the ideal thing for a classic conservative lady to wear on a first date.
00:21:15.940 You really want him to get to know you.
00:21:18.160 And so it should be you, but just slightly more classic and elevated and elegant.
00:21:22.320 So I absolutely love this look and I can't wait to see if you guys try it.
