00:00:00.000 Hello, classic crew, and welcome to today's episode of The Scoop.
00:00:06.740 If you are new to my channel, The Scoop is our opportunity to chat, go over what went on over
00:00:12.040 the course of the week, and act as if we're grabbing a cup of coffee together. I love having
00:00:16.440 this opportunity every single week to talk to you guys about kind of what's going on in my life and
00:00:20.440 hearing what's going on with your life, so make sure to let me know in the comments below what
00:00:25.460 you've been up to. Here on my channel, we talk about commentary, beauty, fashion, lifestyle,
00:00:30.580 and opera, all from a classic and conservative perspective, so if you would like to join the
00:00:35.980 classic crew, go ahead and subscribe and hit the notification bell, and you'll be able to see all
00:00:40.640 of my videos on all of those topics. So I'm really excited to jump into today's video, so grab a cup
00:00:46.520 of coffee, or tea, or soda, or water, or whatever else it is that you're drinking, and let's get into it.
00:00:52.120 I'm feeling kind of goofy today. I feel like I'm on the verge of laughing, which is, does that ever
00:00:56.860 happen to anyone else where you're talking, and it's just like something's building up in your
00:01:00.620 chest, and you feel like you have to start laughing, and I kind of feel like you can hear it in someone's
00:01:04.180 voice, like if you're on the phone with someone, and it feels like they're holding back a laugh,
00:01:08.000 or they're smiling, like you can hear it. That's where I'm at right now, and I don't know why,
00:01:12.340 but that's where I'm at. I'm feeling goofy, so we'll see how this video goes, but the first thing I
00:01:17.820 wanted to talk about is my hair. I tried to do hot rollers today. Normally, when I do hot rollers,
00:01:23.460 I can get something that looks halfway decent. More often than not, I can get something that
00:01:27.900 looks actually good. Today, I don't feel like that worked. I think I turned all of the hot rollers 1.00
00:01:33.780 the wrong way, so it's curling towards my face instead of away, and I mean, it doesn't look terrible,
00:01:39.540 but I don't love it, so let me know in the comments. What are your thoughts? I was inspired to
00:01:44.340 use hot rollers because of an Instagram influencer named Mary Orton. I love her Instagram feed. She 0.92
00:01:49.260 has beautiful style. She wears gorgeous clothing. I love it, but she also is a huge fan of hot 1.00
00:01:55.120 rollers. My only issue with hot rollers is that they look nice for a day, and then they fall out,
00:02:00.020 or they don't look nice at all. You know, those are the two options, but that's where I'm at. Have
00:02:04.720 you ever used hot rollers, and if you have, what was your experience? Let me know in the comments below.
00:02:09.140 The next thing I want to talk about today is something that's been going crazy in the news,
00:02:12.540 which is Gina Carano. Gina Carano was on The Mandalorian, and I use the word was because
00:02:18.920 she was fired because of something she posted on her Instagram story, which said,
00:02:23.260 Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers, but by their neighbors, even by children.
00:02:27.880 Because history is edited, most people today don't realize that to get to the point where
00:02:31.980 Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own 0.99
00:02:36.140 neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for
00:02:40.400 their political views? Because of this Instagram post, which, as a Jew, I will say, not offended by
00:02:46.720 it. I don't love Holocaust comparisons because I just don't think there's enough context. But was
00:02:51.260 this a horrible thing to say? No. Depending on the situation, I just don't think it's useful,
00:02:56.180 but it's not a terrible thing to say, and she's not a bad person for writing it, and she doesn't
00:03:01.600 deserve to lose her job. But she is a Republican. So if you say something that the left can call you 0.98
00:03:08.320 out for, even for no reason, then they will, and you'll get canceled. What's interesting is that
00:03:13.900 the main star of The Mandalorian, Pedro Pascal, posted his own Holocaust comparison just two-ish
00:03:21.340 years ago, where he shared a tweet that said, hashtag, this is America, with a picture of Jews in the
00:03:27.640 concentration camps in Germany in 1948. And underneath it, he showed America 2018 with a picture of
00:03:35.020 children in cages. Pedro Pascal still has his job. He made a Holocaust reference. Why was he allowed to
00:03:40.480 do it, and why is Gina Carano not allowed to do it? Well, it's because he's on the left and she's on 1.00
00:03:46.100 the right. That's literally what it comes down to. If you're on the right and they can cancel you,
00:03:51.800 they will cancel you. If you're on the left and they can cancel you, why would they? So Carano was fired
00:03:57.360 from her job at The Mandalorian. She was literally let go from her job, and it's unacceptable. If you're
00:04:03.280 on the right and you say absolutely anything that they can pick apart and cancel you for,
00:04:08.820 it will happen. Which is why we shouldn't allow anyone to be canceled, right or left, because
00:04:14.060 once it comes for all of the right, it will come for the left too. It's never going to stop with
00:04:18.780 the person that you want to cancel, because eventually the left will say that people who
00:04:23.020 aren't far enough left will also be able to be canceled, and it comes for everyone. What's ridiculous 0.84
00:04:28.340 about this, of course, is that Disney is also the same company that wrote in the credits of Mulan,
00:04:32.560 thank you to the Chinese government that is forcibly sterilizing Uyghur women and putting 1.00
00:04:37.660 them in concentration camps. So Disney clearly does not have an issue with creating a holocaust, 0.62
00:04:43.300 but they have an issue with anyone on the right saying absolutely anything. So Disney really stands
00:04:48.700 for absolutely nothing, and it's ridiculous to think about. But I'd love to hear your guys' thoughts
00:04:54.520 in the comments. The next thing I want to talk about is something pretty funny. So I don't know if you
00:04:58.160 saw this, but there was a video that was going around of a lawyer in Texas on a Zoom meeting
00:05:05.200 who could not remove the filter that made him look like a cat. It was great. It was hilarious. He was
00:05:13.180 trying to do a Zoom hearing, he's a lawyer, and he accidentally ended up being in a filter that made
00:05:18.840 him look like a cat. And it's amazing. It's so funny. So definitely worth watching if you haven't. I think
00:05:25.480 it's only a minute long. I'm going to insert a little clip here. Mr. Ponton, I believe you have
00:05:29.480 a filter turned on in the video settings. I'm here live. I'm not a cat. Next up, I wanted to talk
00:05:37.880 about a tweet of mine that got a little bit of attention, which I found funny. You never know
00:05:42.080 which tweets are going to do well, like people are actually going to read. So what I tweeted was
00:05:47.140 what I think is fashion, which was a Christian LeBouton heel. And then on the other side, I put what kids
00:05:52.480 think is fashion, and I put a Doc Martens shoe. I don't think people enjoyed this comparison. They
00:05:58.200 said both is fashion. Why would you say that? Here's the thing. I'm actually not opposed to
00:06:03.040 combat boots. I think that combat boots can look pretty nice and depending on the outfit can look
00:06:07.260 good. Doc Martens, they fall into the category of ugly fashion. I'm sorry. Doc Martens are ugly.
00:06:15.200 Like, can we just agree? They're not cute. And there's just this whole fashion trend thing going 0.94
00:06:20.560 around lately of ugly clothes, of clothes that look not good on people, like really baggy sweatshirts
00:06:28.400 and mom jeans and Doc Martens. And I put a picture of a heel because I think that heels are incredibly
00:06:34.940 feminine and look beautiful. And there's something that I think are very fashionable. Now, are they
00:06:40.200 that comfortable? I've never worn LeBouton, so I really couldn't tell you, but I'm guessing not.
00:06:45.160 But they're beautiful. And there's a difference between beauty in fashion and function in fashion
00:06:51.300 and this ugly fashion thing. And technically that's a trend, but I can't get behind it. So I
00:06:58.300 understand that people were annoyed by that, but also just accept that there are some things in fashion
00:07:04.720 trends that are ugly. Like, you can like it even if it's ugly, but it's ugly. And a pair of beautiful
00:07:10.180 black heels. Now, that's always going to be beautiful to me, I think. I think that most people
00:07:15.540 can agree on that. Even if you want to say it's impractical or it's not something you would wear,
00:07:20.400 it is pretty. And the last thing I want to talk about today is that I actually got my first issue
00:07:25.500 of Good Housekeeping. And I think this officially makes me an adult. I don't want in style. I don't
00:07:32.620 want any of the fashion magazines. Good Housekeeping appeals to me. It's got a little bit of fashion,
00:07:39.020 a little bit of skincare, but not fashion for going out and partying. And it's got recipes and
00:07:45.800 it's got home decor stuff. And this is the stuff that appeals to me now as a 27-year-old woman. So
00:07:51.180 yes, I feel very grown up. Also, I have a magazine subscription. Who has those anymore? Probably makes
00:07:56.940 me a very old lady, but I like magazines, so it makes me feel very nice. And I'd love to know if any
00:08:02.260 of you guys have magazine subscriptions, even if it's a fashion magazine. I mean, I love fashion
00:08:06.100 magazines. I just prefer Good Housekeeping. So I'd love to know if I'm the only one in the world
00:08:11.200 who's still getting a magazine subscription. I'd be very curious if any of you are getting a magazine
00:08:15.780 subscription too. So that's it for today's video. Let me know in the comments what you guys have been
