Classically Abby - VLOG： Planning A Themed Board Game Night! + let's chat

00:00:00.000 We are hosting a few of Jacob's friends for a bro weekend, but I thought I would do a haul

00:00:05.860 with you guys. It's very odd and random. We are a board game house.

00:00:30.000 Hello and welcome to The Floor.

00:01:01.000 I sometimes like chatting with you guys just on the floor. I feel like it's more comfortable

00:01:05.440 and just an easy place to film. You can see all my dresses behind me. You can see some of my

00:01:10.720 stuff on this cabinet over here. This is kind of where I store some important documents. It used

00:01:16.540 to be in the background of my videos, if you remember, and you've been with me for a little

00:01:19.480 while. I am so tired. If you guys know, if you've been following along with my vlogs, you know that

00:01:26.200 this month has had a million Jewish holidays, and so trying to get everything done with

00:01:30.980 work has been really tough. So yesterday was a crazy long day. I had to do a ton of stuff

00:01:38.500 to make up for the holidays. And now we are into the next set of holidays, which is the

00:01:46.080 end of Sukkot, and it's a new holiday. So we have Shemini Yatzeret and Simchat Torah. Shemini

00:01:51.320 Yatzeret is kind of like the end of Sukkot. P.S. If you hear something in the background, 0.56

00:01:56.260 it's because we are having an issue with our bathtub. Actually, let me tell you about that.

00:02:01.980 So we are renting, and our bathtub was kind of looking worse for wear. So we told the landlord,

00:02:10.360 and he decided to get it resealed, and that was great. It looks fantastic. So I'm taking a shower,

00:02:16.400 and I dropped a shampoo bottle while I was showering. Not super abnormal to happen while you

00:02:22.720 are in the shower. Things are slippery and soapy and wet. So I dropped the shampoo, get out of the

00:02:29.420 shower, come back in the bathroom like an hour later, and realize there's like a hole in the

00:02:34.760 sealant, and the brown paste is like leaking out of it. So that doesn't look great. So I thought to

00:02:42.220 myself, is that normal for a resealant to be so flimsy and fragile? Because I don't think it is.

00:02:48.080 Um, just because that would be, I mean, you have to be able to drop your shampoo. Uh, so in any case,

00:02:56.580 the landlord has been fantastic, and he sent someone else out, and now they're taking a look

00:03:00.840 at it to see if they can fix it. So that's what you might be hearing in the background if you hear

00:03:05.220 anything. But back to what I was saying, Simchat Torah, Simchat Torah is the holiday where we

00:03:11.700 celebrate finishing reading the Torah. Every year we go through the entire Torah. We read it together

00:03:17.200 in synagogue, and we're celebrating finishing it and restarting it, because we finish and restart it

00:03:22.540 on the same day. So it's a very special holiday. That's next week. But it's more holidays, which

00:03:27.920 means less time to work. You sort of get to a point with Jewish holidays where you love them,

00:03:33.820 and if I didn't have to work, maybe I wouldn't feel this way. But you start to feel a little bit

00:03:38.580 too out of your routine, and getting work done is just tricky. So that's the deal. That's why I'm so

00:03:44.820 tired. But we did have a few fantastic days for the first days of Sukkot. We visited family. We

00:03:50.900 actually drove. Jacob and I like driving together. And we were in the car for about four-ish hours,

00:03:58.100 and we got to listen to a podcast. We love listening to things together. We love chatting.

00:04:04.680 And being in the car together is actually something we really enjoy. So we had a great

00:04:08.880 time driving up there, and then being with family was amazing. I absolutely loved seeing everyone,

00:04:15.300 and getting to spend time in the Sukkot is like my favorite thing. And the weather was beautiful,

00:04:19.880 so we didn't even have to sit outside when it was 100 degrees or freezing. Like, it was just perfect

00:04:24.480 outside, which is so nice. And the holidays are so lovely. I love Sukkot. I love spending holiday with

00:04:31.780 family. What's your favorite holiday to spend with your family? Let me know in the comments. I'd love to

00:04:36.220 know. But today and the next few days, we are hosting a few of Jacob's friends for a bro weekend.

00:04:42.640 He called it a bro weekend, but because Jacob is the best, so he always includes me and like wants

00:04:47.480 me to be part of things, which is really sweet. So we actually are hosting four guys here. They're all

00:04:53.340 staying in our house, and I have to make sure that everyone is fed. We'll probably order out for a

00:05:00.400 couple of things, but generally I'm going to be trying to make food for us all, which will be

00:05:04.700 an endeavor, but kind of fun. Feeding five hungry guys is going to be funny. But the also nice thing

00:05:12.020 about feeding men is that they'll eat like simple food, so I don't have to do something crazy. So I'm

00:05:18.440 going to be making a meat sauce with noodles, some Brussels sprouts, and then I'm going to be making

00:05:24.240 my butter chicken recipe, which sounds really fancy, but it's actually pretty easy. So that is my plan.

00:05:30.120 And also, in case you were wondering, my butter chicken recipe is entirely dairy-free because we

00:05:34.440 don't mix meat and dairy when you keep kosher. So if you're curious about that, the way that I make

00:05:39.540 those things dairy-free is I just replace anything that's dairy with coconut-based products. So I buy

00:05:45.720 a coconut-based yogurt, I buy a coconut cream instead of a heavy cream, and I use margarine instead of butter.

00:05:54.580 And that's like the easiest thing in the world to switch out, and it tastes fantastic. Jacob doesn't

00:05:59.380 even notice a difference. He loves it. He thinks it's great. So that's the plan as far as food.

00:06:05.400 But while the guys are here, what they're going to be doing is playing board games. Now if you know

00:06:10.040 anything about Jacob, if you've been following my channel for a while, you will know that we are a

00:06:15.340 board game house, and he is a board game fanatic. We have a ton of board games. They will be playing

00:06:21.600 Twilight Imperium. So if you've not heard of Twilight Imperium, it is a huge game. I'm actually

00:06:27.840 participating. It's like a lot to remember. But it's a huge spaceship sort of game. Like I said,

00:06:35.980 Jacob loves board games, so he always does his research and finds the best games. If you are

00:06:39.720 interested in a video or a podcast episode about his favorite board games and our favorite board games,

00:06:46.040 let me know. I will do that. So put that in the comments. But we're going to be playing that,

00:06:51.060 and I had the idea that we could kind of like make it a themed night. So we're going to have

00:06:56.200 cocktails that are themed, like galaxy stuff, and we're going to get some snacks, and they're just

00:07:02.000 going to be normal snacks, but we'll name them punny things like space chips instead of spaceship,

00:07:07.760 or like UF Oreos instead of UFOs. So we're going to do stuff like that, and I'm going to go get some

00:07:13.900 stuff from the Dollar Tree and see if I can make like any decor related items, which would be fun too.

00:07:19.380 But yeah, so I have to go run to Target. I think Jacob is going to do the grocery shopping for me,

00:07:25.580 which would be very helpful. And I'm going to run to, like I said, the Dollar Tree. So I'm going

00:07:31.420 to bring you guys along for most of it, and you guys can see what I'm trying out, what I'm picking

00:07:38.000 up. But some of you guys left me some great recommendations for lipsticks in my last video

00:07:43.200 about fall makeup tips, and I might want to check out some of the lipsticks you guys recommended.

00:07:47.580 If you haven't seen my fall makeup tips video, you should definitely go and watch it because

00:07:51.720 it's so much fun. I talk about five makeup tips that are like perfect for fall. I love doing fall

00:07:58.860 makeup. As you can see, I'm wearing a very natural look today. And by natural, I mean literally almost

00:08:03.000 nothing on. I'm just covering up my blemishes and putting on mascara. But if I'm going to be going

00:08:07.040 somewhere a little more dressed up, or if I have the time, I will do like a really fun face of kind

00:08:12.940 of pumpkin spice makeup, I like to call it. So that was a lot of fun to record and share with

00:08:16.700 you guys. But I don't know how many of you guys really like do a full face of makeup or enjoy

00:08:20.920 makeup. I, that's actually how I started on YouTube kind of getting into things was makeup videos. I

00:08:26.400 loved makeup videos. That's how I learned how to do makeup was entirely from YouTube. I did take a

00:08:32.400 stage makeup class in college, which was so cool. I learned how to make like scars and like build up

00:08:38.260 your nose and make it look different from the nose that you have. And I learned how to like give

00:08:43.840 yourself a bruise, stuff like that. That stuff's really cool or age yourself. That's really cool.

00:08:48.220 But that's not as relevant to just everyday makeup. Although in today's day and age, sometimes the like

00:08:55.240 stage contouring you do, which is really intense, people will do in real life. I don't recommend

00:09:00.000 that. But yeah, that's pretty much it. So let's get a move on and see if we can set up for this

00:09:05.520 evening. Maybe we'll do a haul and I'll show you what I pick up and then I can show you what I'm

00:09:11.080 going to be setting up for this evening. So let's get to it.

00:09:35.520 We're back. Welcome back to the floor. We're only sitting on the floor today. That's the deal.

00:10:01.920 That's what we're doing. I didn't have time to go to Target because I needed to go to Dollar Tree

00:10:06.280 to get the stuff for tonight. And I also still need to like do the decorations.

00:10:13.860 Woo. I know it probably feels like I'm not doing that much because you're not seeing so much,

00:10:18.660 but I'm doing a lot and I'm very tired. Also, this house smells terrible. I told you that we had

00:10:23.840 somebody coming in to fix the bathtub and now the whole house smells really toxic. So that's not

00:10:30.080 great. But that's why I'm sitting in here further away from this smell so that hopefully I can avoid

00:10:37.680 feeling bad and it doesn't actually permeate my body. Maybe we'll open up these windows so we can

00:10:45.260 like air things out because it's not great. But I thought I would do a haul with you guys.

00:10:49.240 It's very odd and random because I wanted to kind of do something themed for tonight,

00:10:55.600 but at the same time, I didn't want to spend a ton of money. So I'm doing something a little weird

00:11:01.360 and random and using Dollar Tree availability. And that is totally fine and makes it more fun in

00:11:07.200 some ways, in my opinion. I'm somebody who loves a themed party, who loves the kitschiness of a themed

00:11:12.640 party. But you have to be flexible because those things can get really expensive. If you go to Party

00:11:17.460 City, things are so expensive. And you can get like similar stuff from Dollar Tree, just maybe not

00:11:23.500 exactly what you're looking for. So I will show you what I got. I also wanted to mention I am doing

00:11:30.960 a Spotify playlist for tonight. That's something that I try to do for parties too, is a unique

00:11:35.300 playlist for the party, for the theme. I called it Space Jams because we're playing Twilight Imperium.

00:11:41.020 The whole thing takes place in space. And yes, that is a play on Space Jam the movie just because I

00:11:46.660 thought that's funny and also it's music. So that's cool. And it's a bunch of classical music from films

00:11:50.980 that take place in space like Star Wars and Star Trek and Interstellar. And then I'm also including

00:11:56.480 some songs that are just about space. It's gonna be fun. I'm excited about it. So let's get into this

00:12:03.220 haul. The first thing I got, these. These are glow necklaces. I thought it would be funny to crack

00:12:09.920 these and have everyone wear them because in space it's so dark. This seems very appropriate. So we're

00:12:15.080 going to have these on. I'm gonna crack them and they're gonna be a lot of fun to wear. Hopefully

00:12:19.880 everyone wears them because if only one person wears them it's not as fun. Next up I got a black 1.00

00:12:25.740 tablecloth. Black to represent space. I could have done blue too but I thought that black would be

00:12:30.580 more appropriate. And we're not going to be using this on the main table but we're gonna have like

00:12:34.820 a snack table which is really our ottoman. And I'm just gonna put this over that. Next up I got

00:12:41.240 this stuff. It's actually a spooky Halloween garland but uh the colors are just good for

00:12:48.720 for space and if you don't look too closely you wouldn't know. Uh let's see if this will focus.

00:12:54.620 It's actually is it little bats? I think it's bats. Yeah see they're little bats. I also got these

00:13:02.500 little star beads. I'm not sure exactly how I'm gonna use them. I'm probably gonna sprinkle them

00:13:06.220 everywhere but I also need to figure out how to clean them up afterwards because obviously I'm not

00:13:11.240 them so I would have to really be careful about cleaning these up. But they're not that small

00:13:16.220 and they're very cute. Two unrelated party things. I got a few unrelated party things. I got these

00:13:21.620 candles. They're scented candles. This one is a caramel scented and it has this leaf on the front

00:13:26.880 which is so pretty. And then this is a pumpkin chai um and I really enjoy the look of these and

00:13:34.780 they're a dollar so hopefully they smell good. Even if they don't I just like the look of them so

00:13:38.660 we'll just put them around. It's fall. It's the season. Another random thing I got was this adorable

00:13:44.480 little journal. It has these little like frappuccinos and things on it which I thought was so cute

00:13:49.880 so I can use this for notes. I use notebooks all the time. I'm constantly writing notes. I have like

00:13:54.960 four notebooks floating around that I write down ideas for videos. I write down the schedule for the

00:14:00.300 day as it changes. I write down a ton of stuff. So I use notebooks all the time. This is one that I'm

00:14:06.320 going to be really using so it was useful. So back to the stuff we're going to be using for the

00:14:10.320 party. I got these. They are party blowouts. I thought these would be fun to use. In the game

00:14:15.680 there are times where we all have to come to an agreement so I thought it'd be fun when we came

00:14:19.920 to an agreement we blow the party blowouts. And I thought that'd be funny and silly. And last but 0.94

00:14:25.880 not least and this is the weird thing that's kind of funny. You get into little wars in the game

00:14:31.760 and I thought it would be funny initially if we all had like hats that represented our factions but

00:14:37.780 that would have been expensive because it would have been specific. So what I thought I would do

00:14:41.800 instead is I thought I would get I saw these because they're all up for Halloween these masks

00:14:47.340 that we put on these battle masks that we put on for when we're in a war. So when you get into a fight

00:14:54.140 with another faction you put on your battle mask and that's how we go. And I think the boys are really

00:14:58.940 going to like this. I think they're going to think it's funny. So I'm going to put these out and see

00:15:02.660 what they think. So Jacob is currently at the store with his friends and they're picking up all of the

00:15:09.340 snacks and stuff for tonight. So I'm going to set up the table and I'm going to put all these

00:15:16.720 decorations out and I'm going to write out some of the little signs that are going to be like punny

00:15:23.040 and funny for the snacks. So I'm going to show you a little bit of me setting up but I figured I

00:15:28.660 would sign off now because after that we'll be into board game night. So thank you so much for

00:15:33.000 spending the day with me. My next vlog will feel a little bit less flustered hopefully because we're

00:15:38.280 starting to come out of the Jewish holidays which will be much easier for my vlog schedule. And if
