00:00:38.380So the way I like to lateral thumb pull is not, you know, right up against my teeth, but kind of on the bone.
00:00:47.380You know what I mean? So I'll show off kind of what I do.
00:00:51.500You know, Astro Sky made a video about this recently, but I just wanted to, you know, give my own touch and explain my theory.
00:00:59.120Because when you Google how much palate expansion is acceptable, a lot of modern orthodontists will say 0.5 millimeters per day is an acceptable rate of palate expansion.
00:01:13.500But I completely disagree with that number.
00:01:17.000I think you're going to get a plethora of issues from expanding 0.5 millimeters per day.
00:01:22.380You really should be only expanding that much per week.
00:01:27.020And the reason that that's a common dental practice within the orthodontic community to palate expand that rapidly is because they just are dealing in volume and they want to deal with a high volume of patients.
00:01:42.380So get them in, get them out as quickly as they physically can.
00:01:47.420So they're opting for rapid palate expansion over, you know, the traditional means of, you know, maybe one turn per day.
00:01:57.320They're upping that shit to two and so on and so forth.
00:02:00.840So how I'm going to laterally thumb pull my, you know, my maxilla and try and widen it is I'm going to hook my tooth.
00:02:57.500I recommend you go for about a minute and 30 seconds.
00:03:02.200And that's going to be something that you're going to have to progressively overload because your wrists aren't going to be strong enough at first.
00:03:09.560And you're only going to be able to do maybe 45 seconds when you're first starting out.
00:03:14.020But eventually you'll be able to get up to that 90 second mark.
00:03:18.200And I think thumb pulling for about 90 seconds out of every hour is most ideal.
00:03:24.660But for some of you, that's going to be hard.
00:03:26.520So if you could thumb pull for at least, I'm going to say, maybe about 180 seconds per day, you are going to get results.
00:03:38.500But they're going to be much, much slower than if you're going to do 90 seconds per hour.
00:03:44.700So I recommend you eventually get up to that 90 second per hour mark if you want to make these changes visual, excuse me.
00:03:54.620But just to start out, you know, go for a quick 45 second thumb pull when you wake up and 45 before you go to bed.
00:04:03.240But that shouldn't be too hard to manage.
00:04:05.800I like to allot some time, you know, right before I shower to bone smash as well as thumb pull and do all my soft max routines right before then.
00:04:18.060And as soon as I wake up, the first thing I do, since I'm already braced against my pillow, is I take my thumbs and I thumb pull laterally.
00:05:13.380And the thing that not a lot of people know about is your lower jaw or your mandible grows with your maxilla.
00:05:21.300So you don't have to pull your, you know, your mandible or your gonians apart.
00:05:27.800I see a lot of people doing what's called gonian pulling.
00:05:31.500And I tried this where you pull from the inner part of your gonians.
00:05:36.600But that can cause a large plethora of issues as well, like TMJ disorder, as well as, you know, just general discomfort.
00:05:46.400So if you're thumb pulling your upper maxilla or your mid-palatal suture apart, your lower jaw will grow with it.
00:05:54.160So you'll fix your lower arch crowding as well as your upper arch crowding.
00:05:59.620And as you can see, I've got some teeth out of place.
00:06:03.520So I will use this soft max until I'm able to secure myself with, you know, traditional orthodontic devices like Invisalign or, you know, traditional braces.
