00:00:00.000 In this episode of Real Christianity, I'm going to be talking about three
00:00:02.740 biblical actions that every Christian can take during Pride Month. All that coming up right now.
00:00:09.580 thanks for joining me on this episode of real christianity as you probably know this is an
00:00:31.940 audio and video ministry of relearn.org today as i mentioned in the cold open we're going to be
00:00:37.920 talking about the three biblical actions to take during Pride Month. One thing I wanted to mention
00:00:42.900 before we get started is I have the newest edition, if you're watching the video here
00:00:47.480 of this episode, the newest edition of The Manliness of Christ. This is an updated and
00:00:53.440 revised edition. I've added a new chapter called The Sin of Effeminacy. I've also added a foreword
00:01:01.580 by my good friend, Eric Kahn.
00:01:04.380 And it's a new, we actually updated the typeset
00:01:08.780 so that it's actually a bigger book, more pages.
00:01:13.140 We've done some edits.
00:01:14.560 It's a strong purchase for Father's Day.
00:01:18.480 And Father's Day is coming up
00:01:19.460 if you're listening to this episode live.
00:01:20.900 It's a great gift to get for your man,
00:01:23.580 for your brother, for your husband,
00:01:25.260 for your son, for your grandson.
00:01:27.500 So if you're listening, I'd love for you to check out
00:01:29.520 the new updated version of the manliness of Christ. And this version as of right now is
00:01:35.800 only available on Amazon and it's available in print worldwide. So if you go to Amazon,
00:01:41.780 you can get yourself a copy. All right. So I want to talk to you about the issues of Pride Month
00:01:49.360 that are facing average ordinary Christians across the globe. This isn't something that's
00:01:54.600 happening only in the West. This is obviously happening in Australia, parts of Europe, Canada,
00:02:01.060 South America. So this is a coordinated issue around the globe.
00:02:09.960 So for the next 30 days, the world will be saturated what I call the rainbow Ramadan, 0.96
00:02:15.540 right? Ramadan is the Islam practice of a 30-day prayer and fasting, but this is really 0.97
00:02:22.680 the gay community's version of that. It's a 30-day celebration of debauchery, and Christians are going 1.00
00:02:30.520 to be forced to shield their eyes of their children, shop at different stores, hide them 1.00
00:02:37.180 from pride parades, and keep them away from the sodomy and the sexual deviancy that is all over 0.84
00:02:46.100 the place during the month of June. Now, companies, we know, government agencies, sports teams, 0.82
00:02:52.680 celebrities are all going to be bowing down to the LGBT sex God. This is what we're seeing every 1.00
00:03:00.440 year. Actually, if you've seen that funny meme of the black gentleman that's hiding behind the tree, 0.99
00:03:06.040 there's a version of that. He's wearing a rainbow suit. And it said, woke companies excited for
00:03:13.000 June 1st. And it was like May 31st on the top. This is what they do. They're excited to promote
00:03:19.160 this sinful, sodomy, perversion, distortion of sexuality for 30 days. And they do so because 0.99
00:03:29.460 they know that they will win more dollars from a particular group of people because Christians 0.96
00:03:34.540 stay silent. So what are Christians to do? What lessons can we learn from this season? 0.94
00:03:42.020 How can we think biblically about this idea of, quote,
00:03:47.800 Pride Month?
00:03:48.680 So in this episode, I'm going to be rattling off
00:03:50.500 just three brief points to help you stand boldly for Christ,
00:03:55.000 not violate your conscience through silence,
00:03:58.080 which happens far too often,
00:03:59.600 and how to dispense gospel truth to the gay community. 1.00
00:04:04.580 Okay, so I'm going to give you three points. 0.99
00:04:05.780 Number one, number one is love condemns sin. 0.81
00:04:10.600 Now, in a world of hyper-normalizing homosexuality, we need to be regularly reminded that homosexuality is not normal. 0.98
00:04:20.580 It's common, but it's not normal. 0.92
00:04:23.560 It's not acceptable.
00:04:24.980 It's not respectable.
00:04:26.880 And it is clearly condemned by God in the scriptures.
00:04:30.300 Leviticus 20.13 says, quote,
00:04:33.540 if a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall 0.97
00:04:41.220 surely be put to death. Their blood is upon them. So if we say that it's not absolutely wicked, 1.00
00:04:50.220 deserving of some degree of punishment, according to scripture at this time to the God's old
00:04:54.760 covenant people, it was worth capital punishment of death. We need to realize that that is
00:05:01.340 essentially the position of God on the matter. I was reading an article, or maybe it was actually
00:05:10.580 just some Twitter feeds, but it was talking about how prior to 1962, the vast majority of the United
00:05:16.400 States, sodomy was illegal. And the vast majority, I don't know, maybe it was like 45 of the 50
00:05:23.040 states. And prior to that, it was even dealing with capital offenses in a handful of states.
00:05:31.760 And so it's not that long ago that we were dealing with sodomy according to scripture,
00:05:39.280 in the sense of having punishments and crimes, breaking of laws to have a man sleeping with
00:05:47.680 another man. Jude 1.7 says, quote, just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which
00:05:54.060 likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by
00:06:02.020 undergoing a punishment of eternal fire, end quote. First Corinthians 6.9-11, another passage
00:06:09.520 says, quote, or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God?
00:06:14.820 do not be deceived, neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, 0.96
00:06:20.100 nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will 0.99
00:06:26.940 inherit the kingdom of God, end quote. So ultimately scripture demonstrates that it's 0.94
00:06:33.900 loving to define and condemn sin. We know this, right? It's loving to define and condemn stealing.
00:06:44.100 That's a great thing to teach to our children.
00:06:45.860 We want to define it and we want to condemn it.
00:06:50.200 It's loving to define and condemn lying.
00:06:54.240 It's loving to define and condemn murder or adultery or pedophilia.
00:07:02.900 It's loving to do these things. 0.98
00:07:06.320 Therefore, it's certainly loving to define and condemn homosexuality
00:07:12.200 because a great way to love your neighbor 0.95
00:07:14.240 is to tell them what God defines as sin.
00:07:19.360 I mean, this is something that I often say
00:07:21.160 around the abortion issue.
00:07:23.460 It's a great way to love your neighbor
00:07:25.140 is to create laws and vote for candidates
00:07:28.160 and uphold the conversation 0.97
00:07:31.640 that a woman should not kill her baby.
00:07:35.880 And so it's a loving thing to define
00:07:39.300 and condemn what God says is sin.
00:07:43.680 So during this month, 1.00
00:07:45.020 when society is hell-bent on the gayification 1.00
00:07:47.620 of absolutely everything, 0.82
00:07:49.900 again, I saw another meme.
00:07:51.400 I'm just gonna talk about it because it was so funny.
00:07:53.640 It's like a kid from 1990s
00:07:55.420 and he's in like a laser tag spot.
00:07:57.780 There's all these lasers
00:07:58.760 and he has to get through all these lasers
00:08:00.400 and he's on all fours.
00:08:02.080 And it says, you know, 0.96
00:08:03.860 me trying to buy something that's not gay in 2023. 0.99
00:08:06.400 And it's this truth that almost every brand and every company changes their logos and it's this 0.97
00:08:12.900 absurd reality. And so it's Christian's duty during this month, especially to define and 0.96
00:08:19.860 declare homosexuality and its other perverted expressions as sinful, wicked, detestable acts 1.00
00:08:26.900 that will lead to a life of what? Well, a life of pain and misery and ultimately a life eternally 1.00
00:08:34.140 in hell. And so we need to be willing to have those conversations. That's point number one
00:08:38.340 is that love condemns sin. It's willing to condemn sin. Number two, I called lessons from
00:08:47.140 Globo Homo. All right. Yesterday, a pastor from Washington, DC posted a picture of the rainbow
00:08:55.260 flag flying high in front of the J. Edgar Hoover building, which is the FBI headquarters.
00:09:00.340 and my friend Josh Dawes commented on the photo
00:09:04.380 saying something quite brilliant.
00:09:06.200 I thought I would read it to you.
00:09:07.480 He says, quote,
00:09:08.460 the first thing conquerors do once they overtake a country
00:09:12.140 is to hoist their flag, end quote.
00:09:15.540 Isn't that the truth? 1.00
00:09:17.380 We have these gay flags, 1.00
00:09:20.000 absolutely dominating public squares 0.53
00:09:24.060 in big cities across the world.
00:09:28.180 And this is what they're trying to do.
00:09:30.340 They're trying to display their dominance of that particular area. 0.90
00:09:35.860 And so during a period when Christians might feel disheartened that, you know, our nation 0.87
00:09:42.720 is irreversibly lost to paganism, there's a vital lesson for us to grasp here as Christians. 0.56
00:09:49.080 In just one generation, with just less than 3% of the population, our country, the LGBT 0.87
00:09:58.260 community has absolutely dominated the nation. It only took that long, less than 3% of the population 0.95
00:10:05.080 in about 30 to 40 years, really in terms of an active push. But this means that biblical 0.90
00:10:13.300 Christians who make up, you know, currently the stats say around 60% of America identifies as
00:10:20.060 Christian, but I'm going to say that about half of that really identify with a biblical worldview. 1.00
00:10:24.200 So, say you have 35%, 30% of America, that's a ginormous number that has an absolute reality
00:10:34.400 of taking back the dominating influence in our country in just 30 to 40 years. 1.00
00:10:40.520 But we have to stop quiet Christianity. 0.97
00:10:43.360 We have to stop costless Christianity.
00:10:46.560 It's something that has got us into the position that we are. 0.97
00:10:50.520 And if we don't take on this fight, you're essentially handing this battle down to your
00:10:56.200 children and grandchildren. And so it's going to simply require an entire generation of Christian 1.00
00:11:01.660 parents who will raise godly children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
00:11:09.580 These are kids who need to understand biblical marriage and are ready to defend with eloquence
00:11:17.380 and accuracy, theological accuracy, biblical gender, sexuality, and marriage.
00:11:23.900 We grew up in a generation, if you're in your 30s or 40s,
00:11:28.620 that didn't require such theological literacy and depth as a child.
00:11:35.040 But this generation is dealing with a perversion and distortion of the truth
00:11:40.740 at a greater degree at a younger age.
00:11:45.080 And so, we need to be catechizing our kids to basically spot the counterfeits when they arise in their life.
00:11:54.740 And so, more than that, it requires Christians to essentially reassert Christianity, the truth of scripture, to every dimension of life, proclaiming that Christ is king.
00:12:08.580 And so, what I'm talking about is taking Christ into the public square.
00:12:13.880 I actually talked about, I might still write this book.
00:12:16.520 I actually wrote maybe, I don't know, 10 or 15 pages.
00:12:18.980 And I've just kind of left it in my Google Docs.
00:12:22.380 But I've thought about writing a book called Coming Out as Christian,
00:12:26.420 How to Proclaim Christ in the Public Square.
00:12:29.040 So I'll probably write that at some point. 0.73
00:12:31.880 But we need to bring Christianity outside of the church into education and entertainment
00:12:39.300 and politics and economics and into the arts and into the media.
00:12:43.980 essentially declaring that Christ is king over all of it.
00:12:47.780 Abraham Kuyper once said,
00:12:50.480 quote, there is not a square inch in the whole universe
00:12:53.320 which Christ does not cry mine, end quote.
00:12:58.180 Jesus said that all authority has been given to him
00:13:01.180 in heaven and on earth.
00:13:04.600 And in addition to that, he says that the gates of hell
00:13:07.160 will not prevail against the gospel.
00:13:10.120 We have to see that that image is that the gates of hell is on the defensive and that the church
00:13:18.440 is on the offensive, kicking in the gates of hell. I heard Joel Webin talk recently about
00:13:25.700 the gospel being the battering ram that's kicking in the gates of hell. And Jesus says that the
00:13:34.740 gates of hell will not prevail against his church. And so we have to recognize that if all authority
00:13:42.540 has been given to Christ, North America is Christ. The West is Christ. Europe is Christ. And we
00:13:50.300 Americans here in the US are Christ's body in this place. We are his representatives. We are his
00:13:57.400 flock. And we must fight for righteousness with greater passion than the LGBT community fights for
00:14:04.440 their sin. This is a key factor because so many, the reason that companies modify themselves for 1.00
00:14:13.600 the LGBT community is because the LGBT community is more willing to fight for their sin than 0.71
00:14:20.500 Christians are willing to fight for the truth. That is absolutely the problem. Quiet, costless 1.00
00:14:26.940 Christianity is continuing to be overpowered by people who are 0.99
00:14:31.700 willing to speak about lies more than we are willing to speak and 0.54
00:14:36.700 defend the gospel of Jesus Christ. Number three, no law, no
00:14:42.000 repentance. Okay, so we live in a time where most Christians 1.00
00:14:46.260 proclaim an impotent gospel. Because many believers reject 0.99
00:14:51.400 the doctrines of grace or aka Calvinism, they believe that
00:14:55.680 salvation is about persuasion of a person's, quote, free will. When
00:15:01.760 you have that, essentially, you believe that coming to faith is
00:15:09.280 about persuasion, rather than the sovereignty of God over
00:15:14.100 salvation through the proclamation of the gospel. And
00:15:17.460 as a result, what happens? Well, people become winsome, they
00:15:22.200 become persuasive. And this is how we got the pragmatic church movement, where you get a lion
00:15:27.620 and smoke machines and a rock band on the stage in hopes that you might persuade people to Jesus.
00:15:36.540 And when you become winsome, people tend to eliminate the bad news, which makes the good
00:15:44.040 news so good. And what they do is they refrain from telling people about God's law. They refrain
00:15:52.000 from telling people about God's law. And more than that, they refrain from telling people about
00:15:58.000 their inability to keep that law, their guilty standing before that law, and the eternal
00:16:03.520 consequences of breaking that law. This is probably the most absent piece of the modern gospel today.
00:16:11.520 You see, when you fail to tell people the bad news, the bad news that
00:16:18.220 God's moral law has jurisdiction over their life because they are creatures made by the creator
00:16:26.280 and that they are guilty of breaking that law. What we do as Christians, as people,
00:16:33.820 is we compare ourselves to the moral standing of another person. Well, I'm better than that guy.
00:16:41.220 When reality, we should be comparing ourselves to the standard of God for righteousness,
00:16:46.280 which is his moral law. And when you look at the 10 commandments, you quickly realize that you
00:16:51.320 cannot keep them, that you've broken all of them and that you, maybe not all of them because not
00:16:56.460 everybody's a murderer, but we do know that Jesus talks about hatred in the heart is a similar sin.
00:17:04.220 But what I'm saying is that when you compare yourself to God's moral law, you realize that
00:17:10.080 you fall short quickly.
00:17:12.760 And this is important in the preaching of the gospel.
00:17:17.620 When you fail to tell people the bad news of their guilt
00:17:23.160 and shame before the jurisdiction of God's moral law,
00:17:28.660 the good news is really no longer impressive.
00:17:32.300 That is that when sinners don't see the gravity
00:17:34.340 of their own sinfulness,
00:17:36.440 they cannot appreciate the righteousness of a savior.
00:17:40.080 They cannot appreciate the desperate need that they have to be found righteous, and they want
00:17:45.920 a way to get that righteousness. And the only way to make an unrighteous person righteous is to
00:17:53.060 receive an alien righteousness. You need to receive a righteousness from someone who has
00:17:58.080 kept the law that will give you their righteousness. And this is what Jesus Christ does through faith.
00:18:04.160 He pays for your sin as your substitute, dying on your behalf, and then gives you his righteous
00:18:10.080 record of perfectly keeping the law through faith. The terror of the law is what drives people to
00:18:17.860 grace. This is what the Bible teaches. You always see the apostles preaching the law,
00:18:25.300 making sure that nobody believes that they can earn salvation through obedience or morality
00:18:32.540 or righteous works.
00:18:34.780 Because once you've broken the law,
00:18:36.660 once you are guilty of it all.
00:18:39.840 James, man, I can't think of the verse,
00:18:42.160 but James 2.10, I think is what it is.
00:18:45.020 He who has broken the law at one point
00:18:46.860 is guilty of all of it.
00:18:49.000 And so even if you never broke the law
00:18:51.580 one time in your entire life,
00:18:53.620 and then at age 74, you broke the law,
00:18:58.400 that one break of the law
00:19:00.160 will make you unrighteous for eternity.
00:19:03.240 You need an alien righteousness.
00:19:05.020 Now, I believe that we have original sin,
00:19:07.640 the sin that's imputed to us from birth.
00:19:10.160 We don't, we're not sinners because we sin.
00:19:13.420 We sin because we're born sinners.
00:19:16.540 And so there's a lot there,
00:19:17.940 but the law must be preached.
00:19:21.680 This is the normative gospel presentation
00:19:23.620 of the apostles in the scriptures.
00:19:26.040 They would afflict a person with the truth of the law
00:19:28.000 to bring them to their knees in sorrow, shame, and guilt.
00:19:32.560 And then they would present Jesus Christ
00:19:35.800 in whom they can find forgiveness, redemption,
00:19:39.080 and imputation of righteousness.
00:19:41.080 And this is how we must communicate to the LGBT community.
00:19:45.680 We have to lovingly tell them of God's law
00:19:49.140 around righteousness on gender and sexuality and marriage.
00:19:55.020 We can't withhold the very thing that produces guilt that leads to repentance. Again, no law,
00:20:04.220 no repentance. And this is what's absent in most of the preaching of the gospel
00:20:08.820 in the modern day. And so remember, it's not about persuasion, it's about proclamation.
00:20:16.320 And when it's God who changes the heart, all you have to worry about is being faithful
00:20:22.100 to talk about the law.
00:20:23.940 And I often tell people, I say,
00:20:25.040 hey, you're a creature, you were made,
00:20:28.360 and you have a maker, and that maker has a law
00:20:30.760 and has a right to demand how you ought to live.
00:20:35.620 And he's revealed that in the 10 commandments,
00:20:37.880 and you've broken that law,
00:20:39.780 and you need to be found righteous.
00:20:42.440 That's your great need in humanity is to be found righteous,
00:20:46.840 and you need to be forgiven.
00:20:49.000 And so everybody, I feel like my experience
00:20:51.740 with people is that everybody has an understanding that they need, they have something to be forgiven
00:20:57.080 for. They just don't know who they need to be forgiven by. And so there's this conscience that
00:21:03.520 people have, that they are struggling with guilt and shame, but they don't know where to put that.
00:21:11.100 And the only way to really remove that guilt and shame is to come to the cross. And so yes,
00:21:16.300 We need to be passionate and sincere,
00:21:18.460 but we must not rely on our ability
00:21:21.240 to convince a person to come to Christ.
00:21:24.500 We simply need to present a bad news, good news gospel,
00:21:28.340 and allow God to change the heart.
00:21:30.080 So in the end, the Christian hope for Pride Month
00:21:34.860 is that those who are enslaved to sin 0.92
00:21:39.020 around issues of homosexuality and transgenderism,
00:21:42.420 they need to lay that pride at the foot of the cross.
00:21:46.300 where Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit
00:21:49.440 can change their affections of their hearts
00:21:52.040 and restore to them a righteous nature.
00:21:55.760 Grace restores nature.
00:21:58.840 God doesn't just change what we do.
00:22:00.960 He actually changes what we want to do.
00:22:03.620 And so we need to be willing to walk in those steps.
00:22:07.020 So again, the steps are love condemns sin,
00:22:11.100 be willing to condemn sin.
00:22:13.960 Number two, lessons from Globo Homo,
00:22:17.160 we can easily pull back the clock
00:22:20.840 and bring back the dominating influence over the world
00:22:24.900 and push back this darkness into the corner
00:22:29.620 where they used to be.
00:22:30.660 Now, what I mean by that is this,
00:22:33.360 what people want to do is that these sins
00:22:36.940 that were hidden in the shadows of society
00:22:40.560 a hundred years ago, 200 years ago,
00:22:43.020 What they want to do is they want to be able to sin
00:22:45.880 in the comfort of the noonday sun,
00:22:48.520 where everybody can see without shame or guilt,
00:22:52.060 without any condemnation, that's what they want. 1.00
00:22:55.000 They want porn in front of your children. 1.00
00:22:57.880 They want sodomy and transgenderism and perversion 1.00
00:23:03.080 out in front with no condemnation 1.00
00:23:05.980 to convince your children and your family that it's normal.
00:23:10.220 No, we need to push that back into its dark hole 1.00
00:23:15.580 and tell people that no, Christianity, 0.85
00:23:18.580 Christ owns this territory.
00:23:21.440 This world is Christ's
00:23:23.860 and all authority was given to him
00:23:26.280 and you must submit and receive Christ as Lord.
00:23:30.900 And number three was no law, no repentance.
00:23:34.900 Be sure to incorporate the use of the law,
00:23:38.200 calling people to repentance
00:23:39.760 and showing them their need for righteousness.
00:23:42.920 So hope that episode was helpful for you guys,
00:23:45.840 giving you practical steps for this month

00:23:54.960 Now, if you're a regular listener,

00:24:03.460 I think we're coming up around 6,000 reviews
00:24:05.860 And those reviews really do help the exposure of this show.
