00:00:00.000 This January on Paramount+, it began on the shores of New Jersey.
00:00:04.900 Now, a new pack emerges in the great white north.
00:00:09.240 Canada Shore, new original series, now streaming on Paramount+.
00:00:14.400 She was so rude that Variety decided to drop her from the cover of the magazine. 1.00
00:00:21.420 Hi, and welcome to Flossom Talk, the podcast.
00:00:30.400 I'm Kersti Floor, journalist, Hollywood troublemaker, and your favorite voice of reason in a town built on illusion.
00:00:37.200 Each week, here on my podcast, I unpack the madness, the hypocrisy, and the stuff that fascinates and infuriates me about celebrity culture.
00:00:45.860 So let's unpack.
00:00:47.060 If you follow me on YouTube on my daily show there, you know that I speak a lot about Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni's legal feud.
00:00:54.580 But here on my podcast, I do talk about other things as well.
00:00:57.480 I will start off a little bit talking about what's happening with the Blake Lively situation.
00:01:01.700 But then I'm going through other things that have fascinated me this week.
00:01:05.440 For example, Gwyneth Paltrow's new book and these young new actors who's so entitled and rude that Variety canceled their cover shoot with her.
00:01:15.560 Also, I wanted to vent a little bit about what I feel about all these celebrities, like my age and older, who are posing in their bikinis all the time on Instagram.
00:01:28.040 And I'm starting to get a little tired of it.
00:01:29.980 So please stay tuned.
00:01:31.620 Okay.
00:01:32.040 So I spoke about this on my channel already, that Variety published a story about Blake Lively.
00:01:36.800 They interviewed me and some other content creators who have been subpoenaed by her legal team.
00:01:42.380 And they're one of the first ones after Daily Mail who actually picked up this story.
00:01:48.280 And I was super excited about it.
00:01:49.760 When I read it online, I was like, okay.
00:01:52.420 But then I saw the article on print and I was pleasantly surprised by the title of this story.
00:01:59.540 As you can see, it says Blake Lively versus the internet, which I think it's so fitting to what's happening right now.
00:02:08.780 I'm sure since you're here watching this, you probably have followed that drama as well.
00:02:13.820 So I don't need to explain a lot.
00:02:15.720 There's another quote here that they highlighted saying, she's trying to kill a fly with a sledgehammer.
00:02:22.560 It's an absolute PR backfire.
00:02:24.500 I couldn't agree more.
00:02:26.420 And I'm so happy that trade magazines are now picking this up.
00:02:29.980 Because as you know, until now, mainstream media has been completely biased towards Blake Lively during this entire legal feud.
00:02:39.180 And it's very infuriating, especially for me as a journalist, to watch that from the sideline to see how they keep doubling down on her narrative,
00:02:46.560 which we all have learned by now that it's fake.
00:02:51.100 Also, I've been told that Blake Lively's team has reached out to a lot of content creators and they want to have a meet and confer with them.
00:02:59.540 It's interesting because, you know, they haven't responded to any of our phone calls or emails so far.
00:03:04.840 My lawyer had one lucky time he reached someone in the office there.
00:03:08.800 But apart from that, they have not responded to anyone.
00:03:11.940 And all of a sudden they want to meet and confer with these content creators.
00:03:17.200 I spoke to one who said that they had a meet and confer and that meeting didn't go anywhere.
00:03:22.500 So if you're a content creator and you're watching this, I would say no to any like meet and confer.
00:03:27.660 They're not interested in finding a solution here.
00:03:30.360 All they want to do is manipulate you into sharing all your information with them.
00:03:35.620 There is also a story going around now that Selena Gomez had a birthday party and Blake Lively wasn't invited.
00:03:41.360 And this guy called Rob Schroeder, who I talked about before, he has a sub stack and he has a lot of inside information about celebrities.
00:03:48.880 And he's quoting an insider here who's saying that Selena wanted love, light and platform boots, not subpoenas and side eyes.
00:03:57.540 OK, she wanted platform boots because it was a 1970s disco themed birthday bash.
00:04:03.720 And yeah, Blake Lively was not invited.
00:04:08.440 And as you know, she wasn't invited to Gigi Hadid's 30th birthday not too long ago either.
00:04:14.360 So she's being shunned by all her celebrity friends. 0.62
00:04:17.620 As you know, Taylor Swift and Blake Lively are not friends and probably never will be.
00:04:22.980 Anyways, I have to say that I've met Selena Gomez's boyfriend a couple of times or fiance maybe is now. 0.86
00:04:29.020 I don't know, two times in New York where I was at a birthday party to some music producers and I was at his table and he was acting like such a prick.
00:04:40.560 The first time I was there, Sia was there as well.
00:04:43.920 She was such a sweetheart.
00:04:45.500 I walked into the elevator with her and I had a dress on and the label was like pointing out and she started fixing it.
00:04:51.540 And then we went to the bathroom together and she was bragging about her dress that was $12 in a secondhand store. 0.94
00:04:57.660 She was just really, really sweet.
00:04:59.600 And her and Benny, I think, were close.
00:05:01.840 I don't know if they dated at one point.
00:05:03.440 But anyways, Benny, on the other hand, not a very nice guy.
00:05:07.820 And the second time later that year, I was also sitting next to him at a table and he just left.
00:05:14.820 So I was just sitting there and he was on one side and then there was no one sitting next to me there because it was the corner of the table.
00:05:21.440 And then he probably thought that, oh, I'm not interested in talking to this woman here.
00:05:26.040 So he just left and I was just sitting there by myself.
00:05:29.240 It was so rude.
00:05:30.440 So this other girl who saw everything happen, she walked over to him because he actually went and sat somewhere else.
00:05:37.300 And this was like a whole sit down dinner situation.
00:05:40.320 And she walked over to him and she was like, you're so rude.
00:05:43.320 Just leaving like that, that's unacceptable.
00:05:45.540 And he was just like, oh, okay.
00:05:47.680 He seemed like very socially awkward.
00:05:49.880 Anyways, I don't think he's a good choice for Selena Gomez.
00:05:52.520 That was my point in telling that story.
00:05:54.820 Talking about rude celebrities.
00:05:56.880 This just blew me away.
00:05:58.600 I mean, how dare you?
00:06:01.060 So this story in your post about Kyle Chandler's actress daughter.
00:06:08.460 So Kyle Chandler, I loved him in Bloodline, by the way.
00:06:12.640 I think he's a great actor.
00:06:14.000 I've never met him.
00:06:14.820 So I don't know anything about how he is.
00:06:16.880 But his Nipo baby daughter, the audacity, I'd never heard about her. 1.00
00:06:21.980 But she's now in an FX big budget series called Alien Earth.
00:06:27.860 And she is the main female lead in this show.
00:06:32.520 And guess what?
00:06:34.220 She was so rude that Variety decided to drop her from the cover of the magazine. 1.00
00:06:40.900 And they're open about it.
00:06:42.800 I think this is amazing.
00:06:43.820 This is like showing some change in the industry that people are like, okay, we don't accept
00:06:49.160 that you're being rude.
00:06:51.140 So what happened here was that they sent her some questions that they wanted to ask her.
00:06:56.820 And they wanted to do a Q&A with her and her co-star, Timothy Olyphant, and the showrunner,
00:07:05.940 Noah Hawley.
00:07:06.980 They're 57 and 58 years old, which she's making a point about, by the way.
00:07:11.160 So she was asked to do this interview with these people in the show.
00:07:18.620 And she said no.
00:07:21.380 And she didn't feel comfortable with those questions because they were going to do this
00:07:25.360 game called, how well do they know each other?
00:07:29.340 And she said, I don't want to do that.
00:07:31.700 And it says here, her team expressed that she had no interest in sitting down with two
00:07:40.240 older men for this game.
00:07:43.600 So Variety here claims that Chandler's reps had reached out the day before the scheduled
00:07:48.280 shoot to say she was not willing to participate in the video.
00:07:52.220 She just wanted to be on the cover, but she didn't want to participate in the video.
00:07:55.540 Her team expressed that she had no interest in sitting down with two older men for a game
00:08:01.380 of how well do they know each other.
00:08:04.080 The magazine provided the actress with a list of questions that the segment contained ahead
00:08:09.100 of time and asked Chandler to respond with a list of questions she felt uncomfortable with.
00:08:14.680 Then they sent back some alternatives.
00:08:16.840 And then the editor-in-chief of Variety said no.
00:08:20.060 And then he decided to remove her from the cover shoot altogether.
00:08:23.600 And there's even a quote here from the showrunner, Pauly, who said that he is very disappointed
00:08:30.380 in the leading lady's behavior. 0.99
00:08:33.880 I mean, how long is this girl going to survive in the industry? 0.99
00:08:37.180 Her name is Sydney, by the way.
00:08:38.960 I forgot to say that.
00:08:40.280 And she's getting this amazing opportunity.
00:08:43.540 And she's like too good for these two older men.
00:08:46.800 After the cover was out with the two guys on the front instead of her,
00:08:51.900 she did a follow-up interview where she said she's just a private person who is new to press.
00:08:59.540 It's a bit out of my comfort zone, she told them.
00:09:02.240 I was more than happy to talk about anything and everything about the show.
00:09:05.940 That's what I'm here to promote.
00:09:08.300 If you don't feel comfortable with the press, I'm sure they can give you some training in doing that.
00:09:12.980 It's not really that hard to sit down in a fun video with your co-star and the showrunner to answer some questions.
00:09:20.940 I mean, so many young girls would kill to get this opportunity. 1.00
00:09:25.400 And she's just like, oh, yeah, I don't know if I'm doing too harsh here.
00:09:29.300 I'm just saying this from a journalist perspective because that's where I'm coming from.
00:09:33.160 And if you have these opportunities that are given to you, you're so lucky.
00:09:39.460 And to be honest with you, she's the daughter of another big actor.
00:09:43.460 So she would probably not have gotten this role if it wasn't for him.
00:09:47.720 And then acting like this, that you're too good because they're two older men.
00:09:52.380 I don't know.
00:09:53.160 Okay, so let's move on to the next scandal here, Gwyneth Paltrow.
00:09:56.620 But before I get into that, I wanted to thank the sponsor of this video, BetterHelp.
00:10:02.220 Let's be honest, workplace stress is real.
00:10:05.000 For me, the last couple of weeks, as you know, has been really stressful.
00:10:09.000 And I'm sure you recognize the feeling of being pushed by deadlines, meeting, and the constant grind.
00:10:14.660 It all adds up.
00:10:16.280 This summer, I've been focusing on taking small steps to improve my wellness.
00:10:20.480 One thing is that I walk Oscar early in the morning before breakfast and just enjoy the peacefulness.
00:10:26.820 And sometimes I just want to sit quiet for 10 minutes and just center myself.
00:10:33.040 There's all these little tiny things that makes a big difference.
00:10:36.840 But here's the thing, stress doesn't go away with a vacation.
00:10:40.000 And while we can't just all quit our jobs, we can do something about how we handle the pressure.
00:10:45.060 Therapy is one of those things that helps.
00:10:47.540 Whether you're dealing with major issues or you want to just be better at setting boundaries and protecting your own energy.
