00:00:30.000 That Michelle was alive when she was found.
00:00:33.240 And that she told the person that found her that it was Nick who had tried to kill them.
00:00:44.500 Hi and welcome to Flossom Talk.
00:00:46.140 I'm Kersti Flohr, journalist, Hollywood truth teller, and your voice of reason in a town built on the illusion.
00:00:51.920 As you can see, Magnus is back.
00:00:54.420 We did a video together yesterday because I feel like I needed some help to talk about this gruesome news that we all learned about yesterday.
00:01:03.900 And of course, I'm talking about the murder of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michelle Reiner.
00:01:09.260 And what we know now, which everything is pointing to the fact that it was the son who did this.
00:01:16.900 And now we know some more details, Magnus, that you learned today, which is...
00:01:22.400 Yes, first of all, he's been arrested.
00:01:24.080 And he was picked up at close to USC, the University of California, on Sunday night at 9.15, according to the LA Times.
00:01:34.480 And you said that he was supposed to meet the judge today, right?
00:01:38.240 Yeah, he was.
00:01:38.940 And apparently it's been postponed because his lawyer said he wasn't medically cleared to do that.
00:01:45.580 Yeah, that means that he was either, he still had drugs in his body or in his system or that he was maybe mentally not capable.
00:01:55.980 We don't know that.
00:01:56.760 But what we know is that there was a...
00:02:00.720 First, the report was that there was a bail.
00:02:04.740 At $4 million, yes.
00:02:05.900 $4 million, but that is not the case anymore.
00:02:08.520 I don't know if that reporting was wrong or if they actually withdrew that.
00:02:13.300 But there's no bail right now.
00:02:14.580 Yeah.
00:02:15.180 But now we know more of the timing of the events or what really happened.
00:02:20.580 We know that the family or Rob, Michelle and their son, Nick, went to Conan O'Brien's party on Saturday night.
00:02:30.220 It was a holiday party with a lot of other celebrities.
00:02:33.280 And we know some more of the stuff that went down at the party, Magnus. 0.99
00:02:37.220 Yeah, apparently it was a shit show because he got into a fight with his father and apparently they yelled at each other in front of the other guests. 0.98
00:02:45.720 And we also hear he talked, he went up to the comedian Bill Hader and interrupted him mid-conversation and was told off. 0.99
00:02:56.240 And after that, apparently he got perplexed and he just stood there and stared for quite a bit of time and then he left in a huff.
00:03:03.580 And also some people said that they observed him walking around, like asking people if they were famous.
00:03:11.240 Yeah, really strange behavior.
00:03:12.620 Very strange behavior.
00:03:13.840 I'm sure he's accustomed to being around famous people since his father is who he is.
00:03:20.340 But anyways, that they had an argument there.
00:03:24.060 And it was said that he left, no, that the parents left the party before he did.
00:03:29.400 And then the parents, what we think happened is that the parents went home and they went to bed.
00:03:36.040 But now new reports are saying that when the first responders arrived to their home, both parents were in their beds.
00:03:44.860 So that makes everyone believe, of course, that this happened while they were in bed and maybe while they were asleep.
00:03:51.880 And according to another source, some really disturbing details came out today, Magnus.
00:03:57.060 Yeah, it's Showbiz 411 that has a source that says that Michelle was alive when she was found and that she told the person that found her that it was Nick who had tried to kill them.
00:04:11.900 I don't know if that is true or not.
00:04:14.420 But if it is, that says to me, if you're looking at all the timing of the events here, that she must have been alive for a long time because they were found at 3 p.m.
00:04:24.860 on Sunday.
00:04:26.540 And we now know that Nick checked into a hotel.
00:04:31.560 A motel.
00:04:32.140 A motel in Santa Monica at 4 a.m.
00:04:35.640 In the morning, yeah.
00:04:36.360 So either he went there before he checked into that motel or he did that after and he went back after he had checked in and did this to his parents and then allegedly and then went back to the hotel again because now we know that they found in this hotel room.
00:04:55.280 Yeah, when the room was cleaned in the morning, apparently there was blood in the shower and there was also blood in the bed.
00:05:03.240 Of course, we don't know where the blood comes from, but that would indicate that, you know, he might have had blood on him that could have belonged to his own parents.
00:05:13.800 And he wasn't arrested in that motel room, so he left the motel room.
00:05:18.420 Yeah, he checked out.
00:05:19.480 He had looked strung out when he checked in, according to people that worked at that motel.
00:05:25.880 But the interesting thing is here, of course, it explains a few things because the cops from the start, apparently, they were looking at him, right?
00:05:33.740 I mean, they took him in early to question him.
00:05:36.360 And normally it would take a long time if they, you know, if they don't have an obvious suspect.
00:05:40.580 But what I'm still struggling to figure out here is, you know, if he checked into the motel after he had done this at 4 a.m. in the morning, he must have had blood all over him while he checked into the hotel.
00:05:52.740 And I think that information probably would have been out there.
00:05:55.400 I think so, too, especially since the rest of the information is out there.
00:05:58.440 Yeah, so then that indicates that he went from that party and did something, who knows how late that party went on.
00:06:05.040 And then he checked into this motel room and then he went out again and to his parents' house and did what he did.
00:06:15.000 And then he was caught later and then he probably went back to the motel again and then had a shower.
00:06:21.420 And then he left and then he was picked up by the police at 9.
00:06:25.180 He was arrested at Sunday night at USC, I mean, close to USC.
00:06:31.000 And why he went there, we have no idea.
00:06:33.580 But it's certainly not a Brentwood neighborhood, so to speak.
00:06:37.100 I mean.
00:06:37.580 No.
00:06:37.820 So the sister was the one who found them and she arrived around 3 and then called 911.
00:06:48.080 Yeah, she was actually alarmed when the masseuse arrived and rang the doorbell and got no answer.
00:06:54.300 So she went to the sister who lives across the street and said, I can't find your parents.
00:06:58.100 I can't reach your parents.
00:06:59.400 So she went over to check, according to reports.
00:07:02.380 Okay.
00:07:03.000 And then she must have found then her mother.
00:07:04.900 So, oh, I, yeah, can you imagine anything?
00:07:08.760 No, no, no, no, no, no.
00:07:09.700 It's so horrible.
00:07:11.040 And I just, I'm trying to figure out how this is even possible for a son to be so evil.
00:07:16.660 And especially because we now know, we've seen so many interviews with Rob talking about his son and how much he loves him and how much he tried to help him and how supportive they always were of their son.
00:07:29.160 And then he's capable of this evil.
00:07:31.600 It's just, it's just insane.
00:07:34.300 I just can't, you know, wrap my head around it, how it's possible.
00:07:38.080 We also know now a little bit more about Nick's background.
00:07:42.280 I think this could maybe explain a little bit more of his behavior because, as you said, it started really early.
00:07:48.320 Yeah, there are sources talking about how he threw tantrums already when he was 11.
00:07:53.300 And I would say that's not very strange.
00:07:56.440 I think all 11-year-olds have tantrums.
00:07:58.620 But the friend of Nick says that, you know, it continued.
00:08:02.920 He never grew out of it.
00:08:04.000 And he continued to have these tantrums.
00:08:06.040 And that was something he talked about himself, you know, when he wrecked the guest house where he was living, although he was high on drugs.
00:08:11.720 But it was told, when Nick talked about it, it was sort of told in a flippant way, almost like it was a bit, he was, you know, it wasn't a big deal.
00:08:21.060 And maybe that's what his siblings said, right?
00:08:23.440 Yeah, I read that his siblings, they didn't really have a great relationship to him because they felt that their parents were babying Nick, that they would always give him the benefit of the doubt, that they always gave him much more attention.
00:08:39.520 As we know, he was living in their guest house and he is 32 years old, which is not that crazy.
00:08:46.920 But still, they felt that, you know, that their parents were giving him too much slack, basically.
00:08:53.540 Too many chances, basically.
00:08:54.160 Too many chances.
00:08:55.900 And we know that they were all together as a family just a couple of months ago.
00:09:00.880 We saw them on the red carpet for Spinal Tap 2, the movie that Rob directed.
00:09:08.540 And he was there with them on the red carpet.
00:09:11.420 And I remember your comments saying, like, he looks like a serial killer, you said, when you saw that photo of Nick.
00:09:20.260 Well, he looked so out of place.
00:09:21.660 You know, he was staring one way and all the others were staring another way.
00:09:25.640 And they looked happy and he looked so serious and like he was pissed off at something.
00:09:30.380 And it was just weird.
00:09:32.120 It gave me the creeps.
00:09:33.300 It really did.
00:09:34.140 It's interesting when we talked about him and feeling out of place, maybe, and being pissed off.
00:09:40.600 We know that a friend said that, you know, he always wanted to be a great writer.
00:09:44.620 And I'm sure he had a lot of pressure.
00:09:47.220 You know, he came from Hollywood royalty.
00:09:48.840 I mean, both his...
00:09:50.240 He put pressure on himself, I think.
00:09:51.640 I don't think his parents put pressure on him.
00:09:53.280 But he felt, I think that's like the Nepo baby syndrome, that you feel like your parents are great.
00:09:58.100 And also his grandfather was great.
00:10:00.780 So he felt like he had to go in the footsteps.
00:10:03.960 That is a lot to live up to, isn't it?
00:10:05.240 I mean, your father is a world famous superstar and your grandfather was as well.
00:10:10.820 And then, you know, you have to find your own way in life and maybe you're failing and it's not easy to deal with.
00:10:17.680 And then you might turn to drugs.
00:10:19.360 Yeah.
00:10:19.980 And now we've also seen photos of him as a homeless person as well.
00:10:25.180 And I'm sure that does something to you.
00:10:28.100 But it's been said that he chose it instead of going to rehab.
00:10:30.880 He hated rehab.
00:10:32.020 And sometimes he would rather, you know, he wanted to be on the streets instead of...
00:10:36.500 Going to rehab.
00:10:37.320 Yeah.
00:10:38.320 Apparently to one friend, he said he was like a cult and he didn't like all those steps that he had to go through.
00:10:44.240 Well, that's the reality of life.
00:10:46.240 If you are an addict, you have to seek some professional help.
00:10:49.380 And that's something that the father kept saying in this interview that I watched.
00:10:53.220 And I showed a part of that yesterday where he said, you know, that we were listening to experts and they regretted listening to experts because they said we should have listened to him and his needs.
00:11:03.940 But, yeah, I don't know.
00:11:06.060 That was 10 years ago.
00:11:07.140 And maybe if they started listening to him and his needs, you know, that that wasn't such a great idea.
00:11:13.700 Yeah.
00:11:13.980 And we don't have all the answers yet.
00:11:15.740 Obviously, there's going to be more to come on this case.
00:11:19.020 Well, yeah, I'm sure there'll be a lot more to come.
00:11:21.140 He has a high profile lawyer now helping him.
00:11:23.680 Alan Jackson.
00:11:24.420 It's the lawyer that represented Harvey Weinstein with mixed success, one could say, and also Kevin Spacey with more success, at least for Kevin Spacey.
00:11:34.940 Wow.
00:11:35.260 Who do you think is paying for his attorney? 0.85
00:11:37.760 Yeah, that we don't know.
00:11:39.120 But I'm sure it's coming from the family.
00:11:42.180 Because that is that's an expense.
00:11:44.480 I'm sure he's not cheap, this attorney, if he defended Harvey Weinstein.
00:11:48.300 And would their siblings step up and help pay for his attorneys at this point?
00:11:56.240 Yeah, I don't know.
00:11:57.300 And I think, you know, he didn't probably make that much money himself because we don't really know what he was up to.
00:12:02.960 I don't know if he did anything after he did that movie, if he was just living off of his parents.
00:12:07.940 It seems like that.
00:12:10.300 But anyways, I'm sure there's going to come out more the next couple of days.
00:12:14.620 So I'll try to keep you posted.
00:12:16.300 And thanks again, Magnus, for being here.
00:12:18.300 Helping me talk about this terrible, terrible story.
00:12:22.080 Anyways, thanks for watching.
00:12:23.720 And please subscribe if you haven't and hit the notification bell so you never miss an episode of Lawson Talk.
00:12:29.020 And I will publish another video later today about Blake Voivlin and Justin Baldoni.
00:12:34.280 Don't worry.
00:12:35.000 I will keep my promise and keep you updated on that story as well.
00:12:39.420 So, yes.
00:12:40.400 See you tomorrow.
00:12:41.800 Bye.
00:12:42.100 Bye.
