00:01:49.260
We are going to be talking about something that really has just taken over the media narrative over the past few days.
00:01:57.140
That is President Trump's tweet really directly adding Gavin Newsom surrounding the issue of boys and girls sports.
00:02:05.340
You may remember a few months ago, Gavin Newsom was on a podcast with Charlie Kirk,
00:02:12.900
He goes on college campuses all the time, have so much respect and admiration for what Charlie Kirk is doing specifically to the youth.
00:02:19.820
But they were engaging in this conversation on Gavin Newsom's podcast about the issue of men and women's sports.
00:02:26.260
Charlie Kirk was the first person, really, that I have seen to directly ask Governor Newsom,
00:02:31.920
do you agree with men and women's sports, to which Governor Newsom responds back with, it's deeply unfair.
00:02:39.800
He goes as far to say it is deeply unfair, but not unfair enough for him to actually do something about it.
00:02:47.260
So President Trump has put him on the hot seat.
00:02:50.100
I'm very excited to see where this goes over the next few weeks.
00:02:57.080
Will the Office of Civil Rights, the Department of Education, what will we see happen here?
00:03:00.660
But of course, President Trump is threatening to pull federal funds.
00:03:03.940
We have an awesome guest here today to discuss all of this and more.
00:03:08.800
But before we get into that, I want to tell you about today's sponsor.
00:03:19.140
What they have been able to do is almost like create this sanctuary.
00:03:28.120
I travel all the time on the road, sleeping in hotels.
00:03:31.000
I value every single night I get in my bed because of Cozy Earth, because of their sheets,
00:03:43.980
It doesn't pill, which I think is super awesome, especially when it comes to sheets.
00:03:47.720
I hate when I've had sheets that pill in the past.
00:03:52.340
The production is responsible, which, again, really matters to me.
00:03:57.240
They have an incredible commitment to their quality, meaning if you buy their sheets,
00:04:02.240
you don't like them, or their loungewear, pajamas, there is a 100-night sleep trial
00:04:12.180
So you can use my code GAINS, G-A-I-N-E-S, for 40% off at CozyEarth.com.
00:04:19.660
I highly, highly recommend and encourage you to do it.

00:04:40.560
She is a current Chino Valley School Board member.
00:04:47.960
I think she does the best job of introducing herself and the position that she has taken
00:04:53.220
on these issues that affect women and girls, that affect parental rights, that affect the
00:04:59.780
It's crucial to protect our girls and our females.
00:05:02.540
And as a mother, I will always stand by and protect females and women in sports and to
00:05:08.420
make sure they're safe in their safe spaces, such as a bathroom and a locker room.
00:05:21.900
And I will say their sacrifices, their blood, their tears, their work, I see it firsthand.
00:05:28.040
I am a mother of two beautiful, hardworking athletes.
00:05:34.460
And I'm appalled by the idea that their dreams can be shattered.
00:05:38.120
Taking away someone else's rights to give somebody else somebody else's rights,
00:05:47.720
This incident that President Trump is referring to when he talks about this transition male
00:05:52.220
athlete who was mediocre when competing against the men.
00:05:56.360
That's how Trump phrases it in his tweet that we will get into in this episode.
00:06:02.280
A few weeks back, there was a big CIF meet, a meet in California where this boy was competing
00:06:08.320
against the girls and high jump and triple jump and long jump.
00:06:14.020
The boy's mother approached our guest today, Sonia Shaw.
00:06:23.860
And I think it's so remarkable because Sonia does not back down.
00:06:33.320
You should not belong competing against those girls, period.
00:06:36.900
What a coward of a woman you are allowing that.
00:06:38.760
What a coward of a woman you are allowing that.
00:06:51.020
We're going to discuss in this episode what happens following this interaction between
00:07:02.540
Sonia, thank you so much for joining the Games for Girls podcast.
00:07:05.960
I had the opportunity a few weeks ago to meet you in real life.
00:07:11.180
You have been someone who has been on the front lines in the place where it is needed
00:07:19.420
Far longer than, I mean, even people like myself even knew this debate, this topic was
00:07:30.020
So before we get into any of the recent national news of Governor Gavin Newsom really in the
00:07:36.300
hot seat, will you just take a brief second and tell us a little bit about who you are?
00:07:41.180
Yeah, I'm a mom of two female athletes, first of all.
00:07:45.680
And I got involved in this entire thing of this crazy world of politics only because I
00:07:50.440
knew I had a moral obligation when the shutdowns happened.
00:07:53.800
I didn't even know what a school board member was.
00:07:56.160
I'll be honest, I wasn't paying any attention to elections.
00:07:59.380
We were living our life, you know, just trying to provide for our kids.
00:08:02.380
And I wanted to be a full-time mom because I grew up without a mom.
00:08:05.480
When the shutdown happened, I realized, oh, so this is happening behind the scenes, right?
00:08:14.020
But I never realized what was going on as a whole, the system, what it was designed to
00:08:19.700
And so we started attending these school board meetings and we quickly realized it was a
00:08:24.020
machine that was there to destroy the future of our children.
00:08:27.640
I got involved, you know, the union spent, a union and special interest spent, it was a
00:08:32.500
total of 150,000 that we know of to run against me, just a mom running on school board.
00:08:37.420
But we did that, that election cycle changed those two seats.
00:08:41.980
In this last one, we now have a 5-0 in Chino Valley that support protecting kids.
00:08:48.100
Well, you know, we brought common sense policies forward.
00:08:53.180
They've sued us already before and threatened us on other things.
00:08:55.780
But here I am just trying to fight the good fight to protect our kids.
00:09:07.340
Of course, it speaks to the persistence of everyday parents like you who said, I mean, I think
00:09:15.320
I don't want to say it's an issue I didn't care about because, of course, I did.
00:09:21.260
But it just wasn't a priority to me to take this stand until I was directly impacted.
00:09:27.060
So it speaks to the ability of everyday, I mean, just normal people, moms and dads, to
00:09:34.320
And it speaks to how I think Americans, Californians specifically, are fed up.
00:09:38.920
And I think it's important you mentioned, first and foremost, you are a mother.
00:09:45.320
This past week, the state of California, specifically Gavin Newsom, has been in the hot seat.
00:09:51.820
We have known Gavin Newsom to be this fence sitter, whether it's men and women sports,
00:09:56.260
whether it's COVID, whatever the topic is, he has sat on the fence continually and winked
00:10:05.680
But I believe we are now, especially the people outside of California, who don't have to deal
00:10:11.620
with his radical policies, who have to live through the destructive nature of what he is
00:10:19.180
All that to say, President Trump, just this past week, he put out a tweet, and it was like
00:10:24.740
super early in the morning, which is in true Trump fashion.
00:10:27.760
He says, California, under the leadership of radical left Democrat Gavin Newsom, which is
00:10:32.360
hilarious, continues to illegally allow men to play in women's sports.
00:10:36.040
This week, a transitioned male athlete at a major event won everything and is now qualified
00:10:42.560
As a male, he was less than an average competitor.
00:10:44.940
And as a female, this transition person is practically unbeatable.
00:10:48.400
This is not fair and totally demeaning to women and girls.
00:10:50.780
Please be hereby advised that large-scale federal funding will be held back, maybe permanently,
00:10:56.160
if the executive order on this subject matter is not adhered to.
00:11:01.080
I will speak to him today to find out which way he wants to go.
00:11:03.840
In the meantime, I am ordering local authorities, if necessary, to not allow the transition person
00:11:12.820
And of course, when he refers to Gavin Newsom, calling this situation deeply unfair, this is
00:11:22.120
So you right now should come out and be like, you know what?
00:11:25.160
The young man who's about to win the state championship in the long jump in female sports,
00:11:31.200
You as the governor should step out and say no.
00:11:40.540
So that's easy to call out, the unfairness of that.
00:11:43.060
There's also a humility and a grace that these poor people are more likely to commit suicide,
00:11:49.540
And the way that people talk down to vulnerable communities is an issue that I have a hard
00:11:59.020
How can we address this issue with the kind of decency that I think is inherent in you,
00:12:06.640
You're involved in this situation on a day-to-day basis.
00:12:10.820
You've been at these meets where the male athlete that President Trump is referring to is competing.
00:12:15.360
Can you just provide a little insight for those of us who maybe are first only hearing about
00:12:24.420
We've been sounding the alarm, obviously, California.
00:12:28.260
Whatever happens in California, you know, so goes the nation.
00:12:30.880
Because let's be real, it does start to go throughout the nation.
00:12:34.460
This kid is about to go, you know, nationals when he competes.
00:12:39.620
Again, when I was just a mom and Biden was trying to pervert Title IX and change it to allow
00:12:45.000
boys in there, we were fighting it back then and asking and begging our school board to be a voice.
00:12:54.800
I'm glad that you pointed that out because he knows he has the majority, the super majority
00:13:01.000
So he's able to play like that smooth, slimy dude, you know, on both sides because nothing
00:13:07.680
We've had assembly members, senators bring up bills and they don't even get a hearing.
00:13:11.780
And one time they got like a partial hearing, they referred to us parents as the Nazis, right?
00:13:17.520
But with that said, we have, you know, a California School Board Association here in California
00:13:24.040
And again, they propose policies that, you know, even keep secrets from parents.
00:13:28.020
And part of it's tied into the law that, you know, advocates for faith and freedom and
00:13:33.560
California Family Council are now really active on trying to fight that law, AB 1266.
00:13:38.340
But with that said, I co-authored a resolution to try to show parents in their own communities
00:13:43.900
when board members brought this up, who you need to like switch those seats for, right?
00:13:49.840
And we also, when President Trump did that, it was a sigh of relief that finally, finally
00:14:00.440
There's a lot of damage control he has to go in with his team to do a lot, especially
00:14:05.520
But the good thing was, is our school board even passed a action item and we sent Trump
00:14:11.120
a letter and that allowed us to speak on it as a district, not just individuals anymore.
00:14:16.420
And we did say, you know, President Trump, please intervene, aka let's please pull the
00:14:22.740
We already know you've given many opportunities.
00:14:26.880
It's time to put some teeth into the action over here in California because this has been
00:14:34.320
And you know that, Riley, I mean, going back to seeing the story, the stories and the nightmare
00:14:39.760
that you and your own teammates had to endure through this.
00:14:42.980
This has been going on, you know, I think since 2012, from what we're finding out here
00:14:47.560
in California, it's just a growing number because of the way that the system is confusing
00:14:52.300
I mean, the sad part is, you know, all kids on both sides are being hurt, but the reality
00:14:59.740
is it's the girls that are the real victims here.
00:15:02.580
And we saw CIF, we've been to their meetings, Riley, like we go to their yearly meetings
00:15:07.700
and we beg them, please, please, please just be a voice.
00:15:10.860
Like we understand there's a law, but you could put out a resolution that says that you know
00:15:16.440
But instead, all of these organizations doubled down.
00:15:19.980
I mean, I think you're aware of the toolkit that CIF put out, pretty much showing what
00:15:25.760
you had said that they were teaching you guys or trying to tell you guys to do when it comes
00:15:33.680
But again, I think this is a step in the right direction.
00:15:36.300
I just wish we can push fast forward and get it done now so we could stop this madness
00:15:41.600
because one day is another daughter hurt, you know, and then another daughter that didn't
00:15:52.140
There has been an ample amount of time at this point, especially when you have Governor
00:15:55.740
Mills of Maine, who has been made an example of, right?
00:15:59.320
She had this, what she believed to be this mic drop moment with President Trump.
00:16:04.460
You know, he says, well, you're going to follow federal law.
00:16:09.460
She says, sorry, we're going to follow state law.
00:16:13.300
If states, governors, if these legislative bodies continually and defiantly ignore federal
00:16:20.080
law, then why in the world would they receive federal funds?
00:16:25.200
When you think about what these federal funds, especially in the educational realm, are going
00:16:31.920
And all of that's at risk because you have cowards, just as you said, who are unwilling
00:16:39.180
And I say they know it to be right because you mentioned CIF, right?
00:16:42.960
Which is the, I guess, scholastic governing body of sports in California.
00:16:49.160
They released a statement just yesterday, not at all an adequate response following President
00:16:58.000
Their response says, CIF values all of our student athletes, blah, blah, blah, all the
00:17:04.080
But they say, with this in mind, the CIF will now be implementing a pilot entry process for
00:17:09.840
the 2025 CIF State Track and Field Championships.
00:17:12.620
And what this means is any woman, they use the phrasing biological female, which just irks
00:17:20.080
Any woman, any biological female student athlete who would have earned the next qualifying mark
00:17:25.160
for one of their section's automatic qualifying entries for the state meet and did not achieve
00:17:29.760
the state at-large mark in the finals at their section meet, basically saying if a girl placed
00:17:35.260
ninth but would have gone to state if she placed eighth, she will now be extended an opportunity
00:17:40.500
to participate in the state track and field championships.
00:17:43.800
The boy will be too, but this allows those girls to be able to compete as well.
00:17:48.860
Again, they're admitting that girls are being pushed out of their sports by boys, but they're
00:17:54.200
also admitting that the boys' feelings just matter more.
00:17:56.900
And say the quiet part out loud, they're literally saying they're invited back to play against
00:18:02.240
the same boys that won them and beat them in their own sport.
00:18:06.120
And it's like, since someone make this make sense, and that's what we're saying, common
00:18:12.580
And I'll go back to what you said many, many times, they're more worried about the feelings
00:18:17.420
of the boys than they are of the safety of our girls.
00:18:22.860
I mean, you had nightmare stories and you're one athlete.
00:18:28.460
These girls are being exposed to so many things.
00:18:30.540
People were reaching out to us in our own inboxes saying how, you know, these particular
00:18:35.300
athletes are in the locker room, just, you know, girls are getting dressed, they're in
00:18:39.780
their undergarments, sometimes, you know, fully naked.
00:18:43.060
And there's boys just walking around, roaming in there.
00:18:51.280
And I know you mentioned about the funding, and it is heartbreaking.
00:18:55.360
But at the same token, the federal funding has been so misused.
00:18:58.880
I mean, kids are failing at reading, writing, math.
00:19:02.100
Look at what they're putting into, you know, the classroom.
00:19:09.840
And if they're misusing it, they shouldn't get it, right?
00:19:13.160
Like, take it away because they're not even using it for the right reasons.
00:19:16.260
And I say, so the money, yes, it hurts to take it away.
00:19:20.240
But at the same token, we continue to pay for this as adults, right, to see a child go
00:19:25.860
And what money in the world is worth to sit there and allow this to happen on our watch?
00:19:31.080
Not on my watch and not on a lot that we're starting to link arms with, especially with
00:19:35.160
those warriors like yourself, young and brave and courageous.
00:19:37.960
We need more of that to just stand up and even join lawsuits.
00:19:41.940
Riley, it's so, like, I commend you because you took a stand and it's a very great stand
00:19:50.500
that most people look at you as a hero, but also at the same token, others have that same
00:19:57.380
And there's so much fear installed in them to do that, right?
00:20:01.260
Because they try to make examples of people like you, myself, and others, like, you know,
00:20:06.140
with the death threats, you being held hostage, and just these crazy things.
00:20:13.720
And if they're doing that to us, that just shows us what they want to do to our own children
00:20:17.780
and how bad they want control over them, right?
00:20:26.680
I've seen several clips of you, other activists, if you will, who are standing outside.
00:20:34.220
What do you feel the vibe is from the female athletes?
00:20:39.200
Of course, there was this video that went viral of this young girl by the name of Reese
00:20:44.160
Hogan, who I've been able to communicate with, talk with.
00:20:47.560
I mean, she shared with me personally and privately about how discouraging this is, how
00:20:53.040
belittling this is, how much of a betrayal this is from people she believed to have her
00:20:58.940
best interests at heart, whose job it was to protect her, who had failed her entirely,
00:21:03.660
that we have a video of her where she's the rightful champion, but she's standing on the
00:21:09.240
second place podium as the boy is standing atop the podium.
00:21:13.060
But it was so remarkable because when everyone gets off the podium, including the boy, she
00:21:23.680
And so all that to say, is that kind of the overall vibe, if you will, that you can sense
00:21:31.880
from the female athletes who are, again, at the will of CIF, at the will of people like
00:21:42.080
And I hope if people didn't, they go and watch it because it is a beautiful moment.
00:21:46.380
She is the champion alongside so many other girls that had that ripped away.
00:21:53.420
Because you had the majority of people that didn't even know.
00:21:57.160
They had no clue that the girls were having to endure that or it was even happening in front
00:22:06.700
You know, sometimes it's not very easily to be seen.
00:22:09.440
But when we did hold the press conference, it brought a lot of awareness that day.
00:22:13.060
And just to see the athletes come up to us and thank us, it kind of put like a knife in
00:22:20.520
Like no child should have to come up to us and thank us for being a voice.
00:22:24.560
Like that was just the thing that hit me the hardest.
00:22:27.540
Like how sad is it that they are sitting there living this nightmare and they're thinking
00:22:32.300
just people just doing what we should be doing, right?
00:22:40.000
It's something anybody can do and everybody can do.
00:22:42.820
There was a very small minority of activists on the other side that were extremely aggressive.
00:22:51.380
We were there to really honestly just cheer on the girls, bring awareness to what was going
00:23:00.300
They wanted nothing to be put towards that athlete, which shows me their heart.
00:23:05.140
Like they're just, they want their fair chance, right?
00:23:07.900
And the activists are the ones that get super aggressive in your face, yell, they bring out
00:23:13.100
their cameras, they follow you around, they heckle, and then they claim to be victim.
00:23:19.780
But at the same token, I think people watching that happen in real life, I've gotten so many
00:23:25.580
messages like, oh my goodness, we didn't even know this was happening.
00:23:28.180
Coaches were walking up to us, please don't stop this fight.
00:23:34.300
There was, you know, even male athletes coming up and saying, you know, what do we do?
00:23:40.140
I remember one male athlete said, should they just go and compete against this boy and show
00:23:44.840
them how they would put them in his rightful spot and placement?
00:23:48.600
And I'm like, okay, you know, we just have to stop this because it's causing too much
00:23:55.200
And these girls, again, you said it, she shared some very intimate things and it's stuff that
00:24:02.500
And no child should have to be going through that.
00:24:07.980
If the boys want to dress up and put makeup on and compete against the boys, then, oh, I
00:24:16.280
But at the same token, it's just bizarre that this is even real life.
00:24:21.000
It feels like a bad dream, like a bad nightmare.
00:24:23.400
Wake us up so these kids can be, you know, given their rightful spots on the podium and
00:24:28.580
not have to take it after the boys leave the podium.
00:24:33.440
The worst part is that it's entirely avoidable and preventable, but it just takes a little
00:24:40.060
And you mentioned some of these activists on the other side.
00:24:44.240
You recently, I don't know how much you can or can't talk about this, but you recently
00:24:48.420
had a cease and desist that was sent your way from the boy, the boy we've been referring
00:24:55.280
to in this episode, the boy that President Trump is referring to in his tweet.
00:25:03.240
Is there anything that you can, I mean, just shed some light?
00:25:07.180
I'm an open book, you know, I am also an elected official.
00:25:11.800
So anything that comes into my inbox, it's purview pretty much unless it's, you know,
00:25:16.900
student privacy in regards to lawsuits or whatever it may be.
00:25:19.880
But when it comes directly to me and I'm named and stuff, it's purview to the public.
00:25:26.180
And, you know, we got, I got a copy of it prior to me coming into the board meeting
00:25:33.400
Jessica Tapia and I both received something very similar.
00:25:39.780
But when I was during that board meeting, right before the board meeting, I had gone in text
00:25:46.700
message from one of our athletes, the mothers of one of our track athletes, not the one directly
00:25:56.820
And they said, oh my gosh, the boy just took over the placement of one of our Chino Valley
00:26:03.760
And I'm looking in my pile of mail at the meeting and, you know, I have to conduct the
00:26:10.540
And it was in my head, like when my comments came and these people just come to the podium,
00:26:21.940
You have to put me in handcuffs before I stop telling the truth.
00:26:24.800
And I would still tell the truth at that point.
00:26:27.120
And I took it and I, you know, I just ripped it up.
00:26:32.960
And I'm like, it's in the trash where it belongs.
00:26:38.200
And, you know, that mother approached me at the track meet, the mother of the boy.
00:26:44.140
And of course, they will never show the beginning part of, you know, her approaching me because
00:26:48.260
it shows that she was the aggressor all while they try to claim that I was there heckling
00:26:54.080
I was there with another mom at the fence cheering on the girls.
00:26:56.900
But just last week, Riley, I got another, I was named in a formal complaint to our district
00:27:04.240
alongside one of our athletes, which I will be, again, protective over.
00:27:08.840
They could drag me through the mud all they want.
00:27:11.260
But, you know, that's what angered me the most.
00:27:14.920
I get those, you know, all the time from these crazy activists for telling the truth.
00:27:18.640
But when they name a child that just wants their rightful spot and their rights, you
00:27:24.400
know, that they should have and they shouldn't be taken away, that's where I just can't.
00:27:31.100
And in this letter, again, it was from the mother of the boy, very long letter.
00:27:38.220
It said that she wanted all agencies to be used against me, including CPS, which is
00:27:44.020
And I'm over here thinking, you want Child Protective Services called on another mother
00:27:52.240
It just shows you how they weaponize and they weaponize the system to stop those of us, including
00:27:59.120
yourself, right, to speak truth and finally get this solved.
00:28:04.240
Look, we know it's not going to be solved in a day and it's going to take a lot more.
00:28:08.560
And we're on the ground working and we appreciate when people bring stuff to light.
00:28:12.700
We have no clue that, you know, something might go and hit the headlines every day of
00:28:18.340
I mean, we took our first family vacation the last two days.
00:28:21.980
We've been dealing with this, you know, on our family vacation.
00:28:24.420
I would never, ever give up the opportunity to be able to have a voice for these girls
00:28:29.100
and, you know, fight the good fight to stop this insanity.
00:28:43.840
Like, what are they going to sue me for, though?
00:28:49.100
Like, what are they going to do to sue me for my First Amendment rights and truth?
00:28:54.520
Like, they'll use every tactic, which it does work for the majority of the people.
00:28:59.760
Most people don't want to go through what they tried to put us through as the example,
00:29:04.080
Like, they've even gone after my husband's work at one point, like how we provide for our
00:29:08.640
You know, I gave up my job during COVID, and our family relied on my small income, you
00:29:18.380
And not one day do I ever regret or look back and say, you know what?
00:29:23.020
We just need more people to just do their part.
00:29:26.480
Like, everybody has a gift in fighting for common sense.
00:29:32.360
Like, look, some of us will be on the forefront.
00:29:43.580
That's my biggest hope is don't ever, like, let this happen.
00:29:47.300
Even with Newsom, what they're doing right now.
00:29:48.840
Oh, we're going to have a third trophy category.
00:29:52.020
Well, the girls still are competing against the boys.
00:29:57.640
So when everybody's not paying attention, they're going to rip it back off.
00:30:05.040
Like, oh, we're going to have them in the same podium, but give them a separate...
00:30:23.100
And I approach this, of course, as a Christian, first and foremost, and understanding that we
00:30:31.880
Some people, maybe like you and me, wear the mouths.
00:30:34.660
But every single person has a role to fulfill, especially when it comes to something like this.
00:30:44.100
And I think more importantly, what are you expecting Gavin Newsom to do next?
00:30:50.060
Well, I'm not expecting much from him, honestly.
00:30:53.840
He's going to still keep dancing around that law.
00:30:56.020
But what I am expecting is that hopefully, prayfully, people join more of the lawsuit,
00:31:03.940
If he pulls the funding, look, it's not an easy step.
00:31:07.160
But it will show that you mess around, you're going to find out, right?
00:31:14.420
But at the same token, you know, a lot of smaller districts, they will not survive.
00:31:18.280
Districts like ours will survive because we're not mismanaging the funds like most districts,
00:31:23.480
So that's why we did ask, you know, we don't expect all districts throughout California
00:31:32.040
But we're trying to say, like, work with us on the ground.
00:31:34.680
We just hope to have that voice at the table to try to figure out how to fix this long term.
00:31:40.300
I know, like, on the ground wise, if we don't get that intervention from, you know, President
00:31:45.080
Trump and his cabinet, it's really challenging the law here in California, right?
00:31:49.400
We really, really need people to join the lawsuit so we can actually get it settled.
00:31:54.280
Once you have a court case, you know, Riley, it solves it for a much longer term, right?
00:32:00.500
I mean, the same thing happened with our parental notification.
00:32:04.820
It's all about the ideologies, the gender, you know, ideologies that go into what they're
00:32:10.180
We had great wins with our lawsuit and Liberty Justice, you know, thankfully supported us
00:32:15.400
because a district couldn't endure those kinds of financial obligations when you go through
00:32:22.200
But what I'm expecting is obviously Trump to be really serious.
00:32:25.880
And that's what I love about him, because when he does get involved, we know that the hammer's
00:32:35.120
You're telling me that he couldn't get on the phone for 10 minutes of his day yesterday?
00:32:47.760
You'll get on a phone call if you know what it means, solving a problem that's hurting other
00:32:55.780
I don't count on Newsom to do anything, but I do count on us people.
00:33:01.420
We're not doing this for any other reason than that.
00:33:05.840
You know, at the end of the day, we all have the gifts.
00:33:08.440
Let's just use them and get this, get this fixed.
00:33:10.800
And what I'm expecting is next election cycle, get more people who actually have the care
00:33:17.840
and the heart to support our families here in California.
00:33:20.720
Look, people can talk all they want about California, but California is beautiful.
00:33:24.060
And I would say the majority of people just want common sense, right?
00:33:28.180
As conservative as I may be or somebody else may be in California, we know that that's not
00:33:35.720
I'm telling you, I've been across California and I do hear many voices reaching out.
00:33:40.420
They just want common sense and protection for the kids.
00:33:44.700
That's where we can really work together and hopefully show them why we do this.
00:34:02.860
I live in Tennessee where we have tons and tons and tons of Californians.
00:34:08.580
I mean, by the day moving in, driving up our housing market, traffic is crazy now in
00:34:14.340
Nashville, all the things, all that to say as a Californian, why?
00:34:20.440
Because I put myself in your shoes, truthfully, especially as a mom.
00:34:30.240
Like there is this internal sense to push back when you see injustice.
00:34:35.260
But at the same time, when you have children, it's almost like you have to do what's best
00:34:43.160
You know, without getting too emotional, I see through my own daughters, through other
00:34:50.120
I would be a coward to walk away from it and just live an easy life.
00:34:54.500
Like I can give this all up, go back to my fitness business, which was very rewarding
00:35:06.600
My husband works for in the industry where we can move to Tennessee tomorrow.
00:35:10.780
We can move to Texas where, you know, where you're saying all Californians are going,
00:35:14.180
which I caution you because if they don't go with values, that's why I'm also fighting
00:35:19.660
Because again, when even the parental notification thing happened, even with this, with the girls
00:35:24.620
sports, people around the nation are watching and hoping because California really is the
00:35:29.260
test pilot for a lot of these things that are going on.
00:35:32.400
So when I see kids like that, I didn't have the greatest childhood like many.
00:35:36.780
And I just remember our childhood, if we didn't have adults, you know, that were working with
00:35:42.440
my dad to help provide or give us opportunities, we would have been lost.
00:35:51.020
And my heart hurts when I see parents that don't even, they don't even know what's going
00:35:56.780
Again, how would I as an adult walk away from that and just say, you know what?
00:36:04.640
I want to fight for the families and our kids and make sure that they have an opportunity
00:36:12.720
And if strong, willing people like you don't, then, oh my gosh, who will?
00:36:22.760
I mean, Riley, this is a seat that they've told us the unions own since 1972, I think,
00:36:31.340
California used to be the top in the nation when it came to education.
00:36:34.640
We're talking an average of $119 billion a year, right?
00:36:38.440
That's a business that they are literally pouring money into, including federal funding,
00:36:43.440
to fail our kids, to confuse our children and send them off into a world to hate America.
00:36:48.720
I'm not going to sit here again, just like I did when it came to school board.
00:36:53.560
I've never had a day off since getting into this fight many years ago.
00:36:57.760
We know that we need people, you know, alongside us to do these kinds of things.
00:37:03.960
When it comes to working together, and it does bring people together, you might have
00:37:08.100
a person in the driver's seat, but you have a lot of people in those passenger seats making
00:37:11.560
sure we get to the destination that we need to, which is common sense.
00:37:15.300
So when, you know, our state superintendent, there's a lot of things that us as parents
00:37:20.700
reached out to, you know, that department and we got down.
00:37:24.000
And just seeing that seat being handed to these monsters, our kids are being handed on a silver
00:37:35.560
We're going to put a mom in that driver's seat.
00:37:38.040
We're not only going to help California, but we're going to help the nation.
00:37:40.340
Because if we change that seat and we flip more school board seats and we get new legislators
00:37:45.620
in, right, to join, you know, obviously Billicelli has been, you know, promoted in a way from
00:37:52.380
Trump, but like we still have, you know, all the other ones that are doing the great work,
00:38:05.280
It's crazy, but it's achievable if we all work together.
00:38:09.220
And it sets the precedent, like you said, for California, I mean, similar in a way to
00:38:15.280
how Texas leads for, I guess, conservative values.
00:38:20.360
That is the way that California leads for the alternative.
00:38:24.620
So if you're able to do this and pull this off and be this incredible warrior and leader
00:38:31.460
in a position that is really so desperate for such, it sets the precedent for other states,
00:38:36.480
states like Maine, Massachusetts, Oregon, Washington, the list goes on.
00:38:40.540
So we will be watching, we will be following, we will be amplifying, supporting you in every
00:38:46.700
And I believe that's what Californians, as you said, even those who maybe didn't vote for
00:38:52.320
Trump, I believe that's what Californians, that's what they need.
00:38:57.320
So very grateful for you that you took time out of your vacation.
00:39:02.960
So incredible that you would be willing to do this and to share your heart for the issue
00:39:08.200
and all of the cultural chaos that is plaguing the city of California and really the rest
00:39:23.340
I know you hear that, but truly from the bottom of my heart, we pray for your protection.
00:39:29.660
And just thank you for pouring back into those girls because they can relate to you.
00:39:33.540
And as a mother, you know, like, again, we're linking arms and I'm so grateful that we have,
00:39:38.160
you know, you to be able to refer these girls to because you've lived their experience.
00:39:43.380
And I think it's encouraging for them to hear that, you know, somebody's there, they're there
00:39:47.960
with them and we're fighting the good fight and just give them that encouragement not to
00:39:52.800
And hopefully, prayfully, these girls will grow up and they'll be part of solving this for
00:39:59.140
We don't ever want to turn our backs on this ever again.
00:40:02.240
Thank you guys for tuning into the Gains for Girls podcast.
00:40:05.060
I am awaiting, desperately awaiting to know what comes of this encounter, this interaction
00:40:11.040
between, which is inevitable, by the way, between President Trump and Gavin Newsom.
00:40:15.920
What we are seeing from President Trump in terms of his willingness, his ability to push
00:40:21.840
back when it comes to the rights of women and girls to privacy, to safety, to equal opportunity,
00:40:28.160
that is what the people, the American people voted for overwhelmingly on November 5th.
00:40:33.420
So it is nice to see accountability is back in the White House.
00:40:37.740
I am desperately waiting to see what happens there.
