00:00:00.480 Recently, our company's softball team lost the big game by one run.
00:00:04.800 Then Dale tried to console us with the quote,
00:00:07.200 winning isn't everything.

00:00:12.740 I get early payout from Bet365.

00:00:30.000 the internet never ceases to make me feel like a crazy person um this time it's for posting a
00:00:39.080 video on tiktok and instagram specifically about lindsey clancy the woman who i guess i should say
00:00:44.800 allegedly although it's not up for dispute uh the woman who at least did the physical act of
00:00:51.520 murdering her three children um i posted a video i thought it was a pretty nuanced approach like
00:00:56.600 totally unbiased in saying like, look, postpartum psychosis, real. Postpartum depression, real. But
00:01:02.900 it doesn't negate the responsibility of your actions in murdering your three children. That's
00:01:07.400 where our compassion should lie. That's where our sense of justice should lie. They shouldn't be the
00:01:11.520 footnote in this conversation. This episode today is to not unpack the facts of the trial. Although
00:01:16.460 there are a couple of things I do think important that I will touch on. It's not about that at all.
00:01:20.460 It's about the response that we have seen online in the midst of this trial and about how it's just
00:01:24.940 becoming harder to ignore the very real and disturbing pattern that we're seeing in our
00:01:30.420 society. And that's a growing willingness to extend sympathy or excuses or even fundraising
00:01:36.220 efforts and energy towards people who have taken innocent lives. While the victims themselves,
00:01:42.300 in this case, three children, fade into the background of the conversation. We have seen it.
00:01:48.180 And before we get into anything, I just want to be very, very extra clear. What I'm saying is my
00:01:53.380 own opinion, right? My own personal opinion. I am not the jury. I don't know what was going on in
00:01:58.900 Lindsay Clancy's mind. I'm not going to act like I do. I don't know whether she meets the legal
00:02:03.180 standard for insanity, but I do know this. Three children are dead. That should be the starting
00:02:10.460 point and the ending point and everything in between in this conversation where our empathy
00:02:16.060 should lie and where we should seek out justice. I can believe that Lindsay Clancy was profoundly
00:02:22.840 mentally ill. And I do believe that just based on my own understanding of the trial and lines
00:02:28.400 of questioning. I do think she was mentally ill. I can believe that postpartum psychosis is real,
00:02:34.100 rare, nonetheless, but it's real. I know this. We all know this, right? That's not up for dispute.
00:02:39.740 I don't want to discount or discredit any woman's experience. The hormonal shift is very, very real.
00:02:45.760 Postpartum depression is real and affects more women than I think we'd like to believe. And I
00:02:49.700 think there's space for that conversation in this. Postpartum psychosis, more rare, but again,
00:02:54.420 real. Not arguing against that. What I'm arguing against is what happens when public empathy
00:02:59.840 becomes so focused on the perpetrator, almost like intrinsically at this point, or at least
00:03:06.580 what social media is echoing, that the victims disappear and how that has really become a trend.
00:03:12.640 So let's look at some of the facts first. Some of the questions I think are important in asking to
00:03:17.120 form a public opinion if you're not willing to listen to the full trial. The first one being,
00:03:22.500 which I kind of addressed this, is there any dispute that Lindsay Clancy did the physical
00:03:28.520 act of killing her children? Has she admitted to it? There's no dispute. Lindsay Clancy does not
00:03:33.240 deny that she physically strangled her three children, ranging in ages from eight months old
00:03:38.840 to five years old. Three-year-old in the middle there, she physically strangled her three children
00:03:44.080 with exercise bans corresponding to how old, or I guess the size of each child. Her defense has
00:03:51.800 explicitly stated that the actions resulting in her children's death, those aren't being
00:03:58.960 contested. Of course, what is being argued here is that should she be held criminally responsible
00:04:06.160 due to the mental illness she was suffering at the time? Second question of the case,
00:04:10.320 which I think is important in asking is, has she officially been diagnosed with postpartum
00:04:15.260 psychosis or are there conflicting reports here? There are conflicting expert opinions. There
00:04:21.880 hasn't been a single undisputed official diagnosis of postpartum psychosis that both sides accept.
00:04:29.900 Of course, the defense experts, they have diagnosed her with bipolar disorder and postpartum
00:04:35.700 psychosis, including, and most concerningly, I think, which ultimately, at least as her defense
00:04:41.880 is alleging, led to the children's murder are these auditory hallucinations, a male voice in
00:04:48.340 her head ordering her to kill her children and then herself. The prosecution, on the other hand,
00:04:53.500 their experts are testifying that she did suffer what they believe from major depressive disorder
00:04:58.140 and anxiety, but was not psychotic at the time of the killings. Third question is, did she seek
00:05:04.840 help. She did. She extensively sought help. She sought outpatient psychiatric care from multiple
00:05:10.660 different providers starting in fall of 2022. The kids were murdered in January, I believe, of 2023.
00:05:17.240 She made at least two calls to a suicide or crisis hotline in the month before the killings.
00:05:22.840 She admitted herself into McLean Hospital for inpatient psychiatric treatment. She stayed,
00:05:28.360 I would think, for nearly five days in early January 2023 before. This was about 19 days
00:05:33.640 before. She murdered her kids, but she left the inpatient care facility early, which is also
00:05:43.060 important. She wasn't following protocol or the full protocol consistently. She repeatedly reported
00:05:51.080 symptoms, including severe anxiety and depression and insomnia and intrusive thoughts and just
00:05:56.280 feeling disconnected from life and from her kids. Next question, which.
00:06:03.020 Recently, our company softball team lost the big game by one run. Then Dale tried to console us
00:06:08.940 with the quote, winning isn't everything. Well, Dale and I are very different. I get early payout

00:06:32.760 This could again raise, could be a whole episode in and of itself.
00:06:36.380 There are broader conversations to be had here,
00:06:39.120 especially in how this affects my generation, I think, society at large,
00:06:43.380 but my generation especially is, was she medicated?
00:06:47.120 And of course the answer is yes.
00:06:48.280 So then the question becomes, was she over-medicated?
00:06:51.100 and what specifically was prescribed to her. The defense strongly argues that she was in fact
00:06:58.640 over-medicated. She was prescribed a large number of psychiatric medications, roughly 13 different
00:07:05.920 drugs, more than 30 different prescriptions filled between September of 2022 and January of 2023. So
00:07:13.720 I mean, what is that, like four months? 30 different prescriptions filled over the course
00:07:18.900 of four months by multiple clinicians, by the way. These prescriptions include antidepressants
00:07:24.980 and anti-anxiety medication and sleep aids and antipsychotic medications and mood stabilizers.
00:07:32.560 She was taking Zoloft or at least prescribed Zoloft and Prozac and Valium and Ativan and Ambien
00:07:38.680 and et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. Okay. The list goes on and on and on. And again,
00:07:43.060 I really do believe that the prescription, the over-prescription of SSRIs is a broader
00:07:49.840 conversation to have, but not the crux of this episode. We've actually talked about it before,
00:07:54.600 but I guess the important part here to note is that dosages and combinations of the medication
00:08:00.380 that she was taking changed frequently. So exact concurrent use and how many she was taking at
00:08:08.100 any given time still remains a point of discussion in the trial that is ongoing. I really do believe
00:08:14.580 that we have created a culture that increasingly asks what pain did the perpetrator experience
00:08:22.200 before ever asking who did they hurt. The online conversation has increasingly been about Lindsay's
00:08:27.580 suffering and Lindsay's medication, her postpartum experience, and whether the doctors failed her and
00:08:32.520 how Patrick failed her and how society has failed her and whether the prosecution is being unfair
00:08:37.440 and her trauma and i get it i guess like these are legitimate things to discuss and context is
00:08:44.260 important because context helps us understand why someone did something but an explanation is not
00:08:49.440 exoneration and i think with this line of of sympathy if that's where your sympathy immediately
00:08:54.240 goes to is the perpetrator or as they view the woman who was oppressed oppressed by society
00:08:59.900 again the health care system etc etc etc when your sympathy goes there what we're doing is creating
00:09:05.620 a society full of murder sympathizers. And it's not just the Lindsay Clancy case that is allowing
00:09:11.940 me to draw this conclusion or to say this pretty confidently on this large public platform. We've
00:09:18.520 seen it time and time and time again over the past few years, right? Look no further than the
00:09:23.740 obvious example of Luigi Mangione. He murdered a human being. He shot him in the back in broad
00:09:30.380 daylight, essentially, because he didn't like, I guess, the policies he stood for, the company that
00:09:35.100 he ran, the business that he ran. And so people justify his actions. They justify literal violence
00:09:40.500 because they believe what Brian Thompson doing, the healthcare CEO at UnitedHealthcare,
00:09:44.700 was committing acts of violence because there's a sector society of people that believe words
00:09:49.720 are violence. And so that's how they viewed Brian Thompson. They were doing something that
00:09:53.800 they didn't like, something they viewed as greed. And so they thought of that as an act of violence.
00:09:59.240 Therefore, when Luigi Mangione literally killed him, a literal act of violence, they think that's
00:10:04.000 justified. But Brian Thompson was a husband. He was a father. He had two teenage boys. But for
00:10:08.500 some reason, we watched people turn his killer into like this folk hero. People decided they
00:10:13.760 didn't like Brian Thompson and what they believe he represented. And so the murder just became
00:10:17.720 secondary in the conversation. And of course, the same thing with Charlie Kirk and his assassin,
00:10:22.820 or at least the response that we have seen online following the assassination. Charlie was a husband.
00:10:27.400 Charlie was also the father of two kids. He was the most effective thought leader, the most
00:10:33.020 effective debater and persuader of our time, especially when it came to my generation. Yet
00:10:40.560 there were people who were willing to excuse or celebrate in some cases, rationalize and cheer on
00:10:46.280 his assassination because they didn't like his political views. Or I think actually they didn't
00:10:51.420 like his religious views. And now we have Lindsay Clancy, where her three children were murdered
00:10:56.660 and those children have become secondary to the conversation. And we're focusing on Lindsay and
00:11:02.580 how the system failed her. And let's focus on that for a second. I keep seeing that all over
00:11:06.560 the internet. Like the system failed her. Okay. Maybe there were failures, but what exactly were
00:11:12.800 people supposed to do in this case? Should she have been forcibly committed to these inpatient
00:11:18.100 or outpatient treatment plans and options? Should her husband have prevented her from being around
00:11:22.640 her children altogether? Hindsight, it's pretty easy to answer these questions. Let's say that
00:11:26.860 happened. Let's say Patrick Clancy told her that she can't be around her children. Do you know
00:11:32.820 what the response of society would be if that were to have happened? If he said you can't go
00:11:38.460 near your children, I would have to imagine that there's a very good chance that the same people
00:11:43.380 who are defending her, Lindsay Clancy online, would be screaming about him doing that. They
00:11:49.440 would say that he's a patriarchal monster. He's controlling her. They would say that he's
00:11:53.720 stigmatizing her mental illness. They would say that he's stripping a mother of her agency over
00:11:59.680 her own children. So which one is it? You cannot demand that a woman be treated as a fully autonomous
00:12:04.420 adult with complete agency over every decision she makes while then retroactively saying that
00:12:10.640 this woman had absolutely no agency when something goes horribly, horribly wrong and a heinous act
00:12:17.020 like this is committed. And I'm glad that the judge and the jury will ultimately have the final ruling
00:12:21.260 and sentencing on this case, because if we're up to the internet or the women outside of the
00:12:26.480 courtroom, it would be a total disaster. Let's take a look.
00:12:29.420 Hold your hands in a hug. Show a hug. Show a hug to Lindsay and to mental health.
00:12:41.820 I don't know if you'll ever have this many women in one place at one time who may understand
00:12:47.380 all of us on a level that others don't so mass psychosis mass psychosis the comments on videos
00:12:54.740 like this online are like repeal the 19th which i can't stand like the super alt-right people who
00:13:01.260 say women shouldn't be able to vote repeal the 19th amendment but then i see things like this
00:13:06.140 and of course i don't agree but i can understand why they're saying it what did you notice about
00:13:12.640 that crowd first of all it's all women and they're in their pink of course symbolizing how they stand
00:13:16.920 for women. But I think more concerningly, you see children there. You see mothers who brought
00:13:23.600 their children to the trial, to the rally, to rally in support of releasing a woman who just
00:13:31.020 strangled all three of her children to death. We are just living in such strange times, regardless
00:13:39.760 of what you think about Lindsay Clancy. If you think she did it, if you think she was mentally
00:13:42.880 whatever this is utterly insane and to this point we've seen again largely women on tiktok and on
00:13:52.500 instagram it's like this trend going on now where you have moms holding their precious baby in their
00:13:58.760 arms and they're crying they've got tears in their eyes on the caption or text on screen says same
00:14:04.240 lindsey or we are all lindsey clancy let's watch a couple here i'm completely overwhelmed trying to
00:14:09.900 take care of the kids. I'm drowning every day. I feel guilty that I'm spending my family's money
00:14:14.920 and not making any. I feel like I spend way too much. She wrote that, right? Correct. I'm tired
00:14:19.780 of, I'm terrified of Callan getting sick. He's a sick baby. A sick baby is miserable. He's sick
00:14:25.100 now with a double ear infection. Clearly has a bellyache. It's miserable. I feel like the other
00:14:30.080 kids are going to get him sick all winter long. She wrote that, right? Correct. I always feel
00:14:34.740 strongly against sleep training i feel like it's abusive to let the baby cry and not it blows my
00:14:40.580 mind when i think about what went into taking these videos right the theatrics of it the very
00:14:47.240 performative nature of it where number one you're crying and then what you like set up a tripod
00:14:53.060 and your ring light and your phone and you film yourself crying you click end you watch you i
00:15:01.060 assume you have to dry your eyes so you can watch the video back you think to yourself yes this is
00:15:06.440 the one you edit it you put the text on on screen and then you click post recently our company
00:15:12.300 softball team lost the big game by one run then dale tried to console us with the quote winning
00:15:18.020 isn't everything well dale and i are very different i get early payout from bet365 if my team goes up
00:15:26.360 big i get paid out instantly even if they blow the lead later sound familiar deal thanks beth365

00:15:39.620 tnc supply like what what is crying on the internet is already like a humiliation ritual i think like
00:15:46.360 couldn't catch me dead intentionally filming myself crying and then posting it on the internet
00:15:51.720 but to do it for this cause. Again, maybe I understand the intent to recognize how women
00:15:57.960 go through this shift, but this is utterly insane. And back to the women protesting outside the
00:16:03.780 courtroom, like what exactly are you protesting? I guess that's where I'm a little confused. Like
00:16:08.700 what oppression are you opposing? What are you demanding from either the judge or the jury?
00:16:15.880 Are you demanding that she actually never be judged? That her suffering that she allegedly
00:16:20.660 face should erase the suffering that her children certainly face because she was likely experiencing
00:16:25.860 pain, mental anguish that her children's pain doesn't really matter. And she shouldn't be
00:16:31.380 allowed to be held responsible for anything. It's just women, man. And I hate to come on the
00:16:36.120 internet as a woman and speak ill to women. And of course it's not all women. If you feel offended
00:16:41.740 by this, then maybe I am talking about you. I don't know. You know, the sector of society,
00:16:47.860 the sector of women that I'm talking about here.
00:16:50.740 They're just miserable people, it seems,
00:16:53.120 who complain about motherhood,
00:16:54.740 who complain about marriage,
00:16:56.160 who complain about raising children.
00:16:57.860 Guess what?
00:16:58.720 Yes, motherhood is oftentimes hard.
00:17:01.800 Yes, marriage even is hard.
00:17:03.680 Yes, raising children can be exhausting.
00:17:05.900 There are days where you feel overwhelmed.
00:17:07.720 There are days where you feel like you failed.
00:17:09.800 I have days where I would give anything
00:17:11.500 for just like an hour alone, but guess what?
00:17:14.180 These are also the things that bring me
00:17:15.880 the most happiness and purpose and fulfillment and reward in this entire world. But we've replaced
00:17:22.120 these institutions, again, like marriage and motherhood, with career or social media or other
00:17:28.180 things that bring you fleeting happiness. And with that, you see isolation, you see loneliness, you
00:17:33.360 see depression, you see victimhood, the need for endless affirmation from strangers online. And now
00:17:38.940 we have women standing outside of a courtroom protesting on behalf of the woman who strangled
00:17:44.480 her three children. Something has gone terribly wrong. All right, you guys, I know that electrolyte
00:17:51.380 brands are everywhere right now. So I get the skepticism, but Relight is the one that actually
00:17:57.020 made me pay attention because it starts with Redmond Real Salt. Relight is made by Redmond,
00:18:03.280 the company that's been mining ancient sea salt in Utah of all places since 1958. So instead of like
00:18:09.420 this mystery sodium and a bunch of other junk that you don't know how to pronounce. You're getting
00:18:15.060 unrefined real salt with natural trace minerals, plus key electrolytes like potassium, magnesium,
00:18:21.400 calcium, chloride, and coconut water powder in the flavored varieties. And the best part, of course,
00:18:27.140 it's clean, meaning zero sugar, no artificial sweeteners, no artificial colors, no artificial
00:18:32.460 flavors, and no chemical preservatives. So if you're ready to give Real Light a try, go to
00:18:37.140 redmond.com slash hydrate, and you can use code hydrate to get 15% off your first order. That is
00:18:43.040 redmond.com slash hydrate. Use code hydrate for 15% off your first order, or you can click the
00:18:49.560 link in the video description. You can scan the QR code on your screen, or you can check the pin
00:18:53.960 comment. I don't know if you guys saw in Massachusetts this past week where Governor
00:18:59.680 Healy, who's a female, by the way, a woman governor signed a bill into effect that would
00:19:03.900 legalize full-term abortions. Abortions up to nine months until the delivery date. You've got
00:19:10.660 a woman signing a bill about how women can kill their babies in the womb up until they're born,
00:19:16.240 surrounded by women who are smiling ear to ear when you think about what is making them so joyous
00:19:23.980 that they're applauding and cheering and smiling like this. It's a really sinister thing, isn't it?
00:19:29.540 even if you are someone who would consider yourself pro-choice,
00:19:32.520 to be celebrating the termination of life,
00:19:37.260 I just think is a really sick, sick, evil, demented, demonic thing.
00:19:42.420 And when it's women doing it, it makes all women look like monsters.
00:19:47.720 And I don't like to generalize.
00:19:49.180 I don't like to make the stereotype.
00:19:50.840 I want to read this tweet from Matt Walsh here.
00:19:52.680 He said,
00:19:52.900 Black activists rallying around Carmella Anthony left to celebrate
00:19:55.740 Charlie Kirk's murder, women forming fan clubs for Lindsay Clancy.
00:19:58.440 the last 12 months have been the darkest i can remember something has been revealed about our
00:20:02.340 society these people have showed us who they really are and we can never unsee it radicalized
00:20:07.620 doesn't really even begin to describe the effect all of this had on some of us i am one of those
00:20:12.600 one more banger tweet from matt wall she says there's a 100 overlap between the free britney
00:20:16.260 dingbats from a few years ago who claimed that an obviously unstable crazy lady should be free to do
00:20:20.660 what she wants and have total control over her life and the blame the system dingbats today who
00:20:24.760 claim that Lindsay Clancy's crimes are the fault of her husband and doctors for not taking away
00:20:28.780 her freedom and her access to her own kids ahead of time. So in summary, these dingbats have no
00:20:34.020 principles at all, no point, no argument. There are zombies who mindlessly jump onto whatever
00:20:37.880 bandwagon TikTok tells them to. And the only thread that connects one cause to the next is
00:20:42.560 simply the determination to, no matter what, absolve women of all and any fault. And it's a
00:20:48.280 Good point he's making. I don't know what the equivalent to some sort of postpartum psychosis
00:20:55.680 would be for men, right? Of course, they don't go through that large hormonal shift when having a
00:21:01.120 baby or even in general, right? Women's cycles are on a monthly basis where you do go through
00:21:07.320 the ebbs and flows. Men don't have that. But let's say there's a man with some sort of hormonal
00:21:13.000 testosterone deficiency. And in that deficiency, he acts in a fit of rage and kills his children.
00:21:21.100 Would you see those same women outside the courtroom doing the same thing, right? It would
00:21:26.040 be a hormonal shift. It doesn't have a term like postpartum depression or postpartum psychosis.
00:21:31.440 But again, you see the door this allows for, the things that it opens up to. Or let's take the
00:21:37.280 case of Lakin Snelling. She's from the University of Kentucky. I've followed this story very closely.
00:21:42.540 she was on the stunt team at UK. Of course, I was on the swim team there. I think she was there
00:21:47.700 after me. Lincoln Stelling was a 22-year-old who just recently pled guilty to killing her newborn
00:21:53.980 baby. She admitted to depriving him of oxygen. She told the court that she was under this
00:21:59.600 emotional stress at the time. The baby came unexpectedly. There were reports online that
00:22:06.080 she was pretty upset that she was a boy and not a girl, and that could have led to it,
00:22:09.800 although I don't know whether that was confirmed in court or anything. It doesn't matter.
00:22:13.420 But she said instead of helping him, she ended his life. And then she cleaned it all up.
00:22:18.820 She concealed what happened. She recently, as I said, pled guilty to manslaughter. She pled guilty
00:22:25.520 to, I think, abuse of a corpse as well, to tampering with physical evidence and to concealing
00:22:30.180 the birth of an infant. So I guess my question is, is the public reaction going to be the same?
00:22:35.940 If you're going to tell me that emotional stress is enough to make someone a victim, then where do you draw that line?
00:22:42.980 For more than 50 years now, our culture has insisted that women should have the right to end the lives of their own children deliberately and legally and with the full-throated defense of much of the public and an entire political party.
00:22:59.460 that practice of dehumanizing the unborn, whether it's through actual abortions, like the physical
00:23:05.020 practice of an abortion, or even through the dehumanization of language. We see it all the
00:23:10.060 time where it's no longer baby, it's fetus, which is Latin for baby, but sounds less human-like,
00:23:17.640 right? Fetus sounds like a little alien kind of, which is then turned into clump of cells, right?
00:23:22.760 That practice of dehumanizing the unborn, it leaves a really, really big mark on the
00:23:29.480 psyche of humanity, but I think especially women who do tend to be more empathetic and
00:23:35.840 compassionate and emotionally driven.
00:23:37.800 And these are good things in their true nature.
00:23:40.500 They really are.
00:23:41.320 It's good as women that we are able to be compassionate because we are the nurturers.
00:23:45.660 It's what makes us such great wives and mothers and sisters and friends.
00:23:49.260 But it's left a really big mark on the psyche of us as women.
00:23:55.280 All right, you guys, if you've watched my show before,
00:23:57.640 then you've probably heard me talk about my friends at Why Refi before.
00:24:01.260 What they're doing is incredible.
00:24:03.600 It's needed.
00:24:04.520 So my question for you is, are you struggling with private student loan debt?
00:24:08.440 Is even your minimum payment higher than what you can actually afford?
00:24:11.800 Maybe you're even in default.
00:24:14.040 Well, I have good news.
00:24:15.780 Number one, you're not alone.
00:24:16.760 And number two, Why Refi can help.
00:24:19.260 They refinance private student loans that other companies, other lenders will not even touch,
00:24:24.320 and they will give you a custom loan payment plan based on your ability to pay. They work with you.
00:24:29.840 They sit down with you one-on-one, each borrower individually to craft a payment that works for
00:24:35.120 you. They can help you reduce your monthly costs, your monthly payment, and your total costs. You
00:24:40.160 will get a low fixed interest rate. Sometimes they see as low as 1%. You can't get that anywhere
00:24:45.840 else. You'll be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. And the best part is why Refi does
00:24:50.940 not care what your credit score is. This is good news. Is private student loan debt wrecking your
00:24:58.320 life and destroying your dreams and the future that you envision for yourself? You do not have
00:25:03.540 to live with this sort of stress or worry anymore. Just go to whyrefi.com. That is Y-R-E-F-Y.com.
00:25:10.360 and be sure to tell them that Riley from the Riley Gaines show sent you money always tells
00:25:17.100 us a lot. I am a capitalist through and through. I believe in the free market. I think people should
00:25:21.300 give their money to who they want to give their money to. I know I certainly do. I don't enjoy
00:25:26.020 or appreciate supporting companies or businesses that don't align with my beliefs. So by all means,
00:25:30.860 if these people want to give money to Lindsay Clancy, I'm not saying that shouldn't at least
00:25:34.840 be an option. Of course, it should. But her supporters have raised... The last time I
00:25:40.820 checked, it was close to $1 million for her. Close to $1 million. And does it need to be
00:25:48.820 said again? What is it that we're rewarding? What are we financially investing in? What are
00:25:54.640 we emotionally investing in? What and who are we choosing to rally behind? And after all of this,
00:26:01.220 the protests and the tiktoks and the gofundmes and the debates about motherhood and postpartum
00:26:07.280 depression and psychosis and the the mental health system and our health care system the
00:26:11.920 debating about her doctor and her husband and who really did it i want to ask one more time
00:26:15.980 what about the kids where are they where is cora and dawson and callen and all of this the mention
00:26:23.580 of their names even did you know their names did you know um the names of the three kids that were
00:26:29.340 strangled? Do you think the women outside the courtroom would rally for them? Why aren't the
00:26:33.500 million dollar fundraisers in their names? Why aren't their faces the one dominating the coverage
00:26:39.260 of this? Why aren't we talking about the lives that they won't get to live because they're dead?
00:26:43.800 It just feels like in this public discourse, they have become the least important people
00:26:48.760 in this story. They deserve the chance to become who they were going to become, who they deserved
00:26:55.340 to become but now they don't get that chance and that is where my compassion lies if you feel like
00:27:00.780 that makes me heartless or or harsh or insincere or a pick me i don't even know i really don't care
00:27:10.480 i i say this now as a mom like you feel this deep sense of altruism and unconditional love not only
00:27:20.960 for your children, but I think the desire to protect the next generation as a whole,
00:27:26.260 at least I'll speak for me, that's a big driving factor and why I still continue to do what I do.
00:27:33.180 Because quite frankly, I mean, of course I feel so passionate about it, but I'm so fed up. I'm
00:27:40.280 so exhausted. I'm so angry. A large part of my job is staying up to date with the current news
00:27:48.300 cycle. And I open my, my social media apps, whether it's X or Tik TOK or, or read my own
00:27:53.980 comment section. And I feel so mad. Like it's this, what I would describe rational anger of the
00:28:01.960 stories of the day. They're, they're just so outrageous. And I think when you consume so much
00:28:07.640 outrage, you feel outraged, at least that that's, you know, what I'm chalking it up to
00:28:13.180 so much so that I don't want to open social media.
00:28:17.340 And I think if I didn't have my daughter at this point,
00:28:20.120 I probably would have abandoned this fight,
00:28:23.380 which I'm kind of ashamed to say, right?
00:28:25.340 I'm someone who is very thorough in what I do.
00:28:28.640 I think being an athlete,
00:28:29.640 you have that perseverance and grit and determination
00:28:33.060 to not be done, to not give up,
00:28:35.360 to not quit until you've accomplished the final goal.
00:28:37.640 But you reach this point where you almost feel
00:28:41.120 like helpless and you don't have a lot of hope for the future because you're surrounded by so
00:28:47.740 much outrage. Again, I have to remove myself from that. I do that on the weekends. I actually just
00:28:51.580 talked about this with Maddie Pruitt where I will put my phone down on the weekends. I don't touch
00:28:55.920 it. I don't look at it. I don't respond to messages. I don't open social media for the most
00:28:59.540 part because I want to remove myself. And in that, I find that I don't feel outraged because I'm not
00:29:05.260 consuming outrage. All that to say, if I didn't have a daughter, I probably would continue on
00:29:11.400 with the life that I had planned for me, but I do have her. And I look at her and there's a sense
00:29:18.600 of moral obligation to fight on her behalf. Obviously her being now almost 11 months,
00:29:25.400 she doesn't have a voice that she can use or lend to the fight. Of course not. She doesn't
00:29:29.700 understand what's going on in the environment around her. But I do. And I look at her and she
00:29:37.500 is my why. She's my purpose. And I feel that sense of urgency and not just protecting her or doing my
00:29:45.060 part to protect her. It's protecting that entire generation. So I really don't care if I come off
00:29:53.660 harsh or insensitive when we're talking about my daughter's future and the future of kids like
00:29:59.840 Cora, Dawson, and Callan. There's room for discussion about postpartum depression and
00:30:04.200 postpartum psychosis and SSRIs and our healthcare system in general. There's room for all of that,
00:30:10.340 but it does not come at the expense of the victims in the story, the real victims,
00:30:15.920 which are the children. Thank you guys for watching The Riley Gaines Show. You can subscribe
