00:00:00.000 The government wants to take guns away from law-abiding citizens.
00:00:03.560 Our public safety minister has never heard of crime.
00:00:06.780 And our law enforcement officials do not tolerate cosplay.
00:00:10.960 This is Canada Now. I'm Greg Wycliffe.
00:00:13.780 On May 1st, Justin Trudeau announced the banning of 1,500 different firearms in Canada.
00:00:19.280 Naive Canadians everywhere rejoiced in this feel-good decision, 1.00
00:00:22.920 while everybody else was alarmed by the terrible smell of...
00:00:26.880 Yeah, smells like communism.
00:00:27.900 Many Canadians were curious, how will this new policy help prevent things like the Nova Scotia shooting,
00:00:33.380 the Danforth shooting, and the many shootings that happened in Toronto with illegal firearms?
00:00:38.280 The answer is absolutely nothing.
00:00:40.440 But Bill Blair, our public safety minister, has assured us that this power grab,
00:00:44.380 sorry, that this gun grab is all about public safety.
00:00:48.220 Banning assault-style firearms will save Canadian lives.
00:00:51.960 This is Bill Blair, a former police officer and now our public safety minister here in Canada,
00:00:56.760 miraculously, in this three-minute announcement from him,
00:01:00.100 he does not once mention the word crime or illegal firearm,
00:01:04.940 as if there is no connection between gun deaths, illegal firearms, and crime.
00:01:10.040 But really, who's got time for research and statistics?
00:01:13.500 Because this is an order-in-council decision.
00:01:15.900 So there's not even any parliamentary debate or any democratic process to pass this ruling.
00:01:21.560 Oh, well, I got a whiff of basic dictatorship there.
00:01:25.780 There is no use and no place for such weapons in Canada.
00:01:31.640 You see, in Jill and Justine's fantasy land, crime and illegal firearms don't exist.
00:01:37.240 They don't have to do with public safety.
00:01:38.820 The only thing bad and dangerous are those pesky hunters and those evil hobbyists.
00:01:44.580 For all of us in reality, however, or in areas of Toronto with crime rates only getting higher,
00:01:49.220 we're still waiting for that liberal plan to crack down on illegal guns, 0.61
00:01:53.980 collecting illegal guns from criminals.
00:01:56.180 But something tells me there is no plan in the works.
00:01:59.280 Teenagers are growing up in a world where gun violence is normalized.
00:02:04.260 Still waiting.
00:02:05.600 It needs to stop.
00:02:06.660 But hey, don't get the idea that the liberals are light on crime
00:02:09.760 just because they passed Bill C-75 last year.
00:02:13.120 That actually gives lighter sentences to, drumroll,
00:02:17.100 people smuggling firearms into Canada.
00:02:20.060 That's right. 0.98
00:02:20.940 For those silly Canadians who care to look into what actually happens in the House of Commons, 0.82
00:02:26.340 Bill C-75 also applies to charges related to terrorism, 0.93
00:02:30.340 forging passports, and human trafficking.
00:02:33.200 Isn't that swell?
00:02:34.940 It needs to stop.
00:02:36.000 Could it be that Canada is becoming less strict towards criminal behavior
00:02:39.900 and more oppressive towards law-abiding citizens?
00:02:44.260 No, I must be crazy.
00:02:46.560 After all, we have the RCMP, our federal police force, to protect us.
00:02:50.920 Just look at how they responded to the Nova Scotia shooting.
00:02:53.520 Once they heard there was a crazy shooter on the loose,
00:02:55.900 they didn't send an emergency response to everyone's cell phones telling them to stay inside and stay safe.
00:03:00.740 No, they sent out a tweet on Twitter.
00:03:04.020 Thank you, RCMP.
00:03:05.200 They were so on top of this crisis that they had two RCMP officers shooting at a fire hall miles away from the shooter the morning of that day.
00:03:14.360 Still waiting to hear back from those two RCMP officers.
00:03:18.820 Quick update there.
00:03:20.720 CBC published a story yesterday saying the two RCMP officers were opening fire at someone who looks like the shooter.
00:03:27.480 The shooter was wearing a fluorescent vest, and this individual outside of the fire hall was also wearing a fluorescent vest.
00:03:33.540 We have not heard from or identified the person who was being shot at,
00:03:38.380 and we still haven't heard a statement from these two RCMP officers.
00:03:41.860 Two RCMP officers who were allegedly opening fire at the wrong person.
00:03:47.280 Bonk, bonk. 0.98
00:03:47.920 Everything is fine.
00:03:50.200 This is Canada now.
00:03:52.660 Thanks for watching.
00:03:59.880 You would have done a better job.
