00:00:56.660 A commentator, international social media sensation, and former Navy intelligence veteran.

00:01:06.000 This is Human Events with your host, Jack Posobiec.

00:01:09.160 Christ is here.

00:01:10.120 I had some very good news last night.

00:01:11.920 The Houthis have announced that they are not, or they've announced to us at least,

00:01:16.140 that they don't want to fight anymore.

00:01:17.540 They just don't want to fight, and we will honor that, and we will stop the bombings.

00:01:27.800 Breaking news this morning.

00:01:28.920 India has fired missiles at Pakistan in retaliation for last month's massacre of Indian tourists.

00:01:35.120 India says today strikes targeted sites where terrorist attacks against India were planned.

00:01:40.740 Pakistan called the strikes an act of war.

00:01:43.400 More than two dozen people, including kids, were killed.

00:01:46.160 The Pakistan prime minister has also authorized the country's military to take action in response.

00:01:52.540 You have said that Canada should become the 51st state.

00:01:55.800 No, no.

00:01:57.220 Well, I still believe that, but, you know, it takes two to tango, right?

00:02:01.540 But, no, I do.

00:02:02.620 I mean, I believe it would be a massive tax cut for the Canadian citizens.

00:02:07.200 As you know from real estate, there are some places that are never for sale.

00:02:11.500 Never say never.

00:02:12.560 Never say never.

00:02:13.160 The Supreme Court is allowing President Trump to implement his ban on transgender people serving in the military, at least for now.

00:02:20.620 The high court lifting a lower court injunction, blocking the policy while litigation continues.

00:02:27.340 Cardinals from 70 countries will begin the secretive voting ritual to elect a new pope.

00:02:32.640 The next spiritual leader for the Catholic Church needs a two-thirds majority.

00:02:38.440 Cardinals in the papal conclave gathered for a mass in Rome this morning ahead of the first vote to elect the new pope of the Catholic Church.

00:02:46.260 All right, this is Jack Posobiec.

00:02:52.200 We are here live in the Eternal City.

00:02:55.820 We've got Ben Harnwell here with us as well.

00:02:59.380 Today is May 7, 2025, Anno Domini.

00:03:04.060 And from where we're sitting now, now, Ben, you're here in Rome on a regular basis.

00:03:09.660 I'm just a visitor.

00:03:11.440 But from where we're sitting, we know that we're waiting the smoke to arise from the chimney of the Sistine Chapel.

00:03:20.880 From where we're sitting, whereabouts will that be?

00:03:23.700 I think, broadly, out of your left ear.

00:03:27.180 So, right about here above me.

00:03:30.920 And, folks, if we could show that shot.

00:03:35.060 So, the cardinals have gone behind the locked and sealed doors of the Sistine Chapel.

00:03:42.000 They have given the order extra omnes.

00:03:45.500 And extra omnes means anyone who is not a cardinal must leave.

00:03:50.700 So, they have been in there and locked doors.

00:03:52.840 We mentioned yesterday a Faraday cage has been constructed containing the Sistine Chapel itself.

00:03:59.620 And we are awaiting, I believe we have a live shot of the chimney.

00:04:03.080 Maybe we have to get that up in the corner or something.

00:04:05.760 And for the ability to see, do we have a pope?

00:04:12.900 And this is something that's really just an absolute key for Catholics, but not just Catholics.

00:04:21.020 Isn't that right, Ben?

00:04:22.020 Yeah, I mean, it's important because even a bad pope impacts badly on the global witness of Christians.

00:04:29.120 I think we've seen that right across the world, possibly over the last 12 years.

00:04:32.540 We've had this pseudo-fake, pseudo-anti-pope figure undermining the cohesiveness and the coherence of Catholic witness, especially on the pro-life issues.

00:04:44.160 And I often point out the fact that the rise of the woke phenomenon, really, in the political sphere on the left, really took place in the last anti-pontificate.

00:04:52.680 And I actually don't think that's just correlation. I actually think that's cause and effect.

00:04:56.660 Well, and what's been so amazing, and we'll get into it after the break, but what we do see happening throughout Europe, on the continent, and really throughout America, is the rise of Gen Z returning to the church. 0.75

00:05:11.100 However, the church that they're returning to, and you see, by the way, you see this with the evangelicals as well.

00:05:16.240 You see it with the Orthodox. 0.97

00:05:17.600 And they're not going back to the modern Vatican II church.

00:05:21.000 No, they're going to the traditional rites, the ancient rites.

00:05:26.380 What do you think is driving that?

00:05:27.820 I think it's a rejection of the whole boom of philosophy.

00:05:30.960 And it's not something that you just simply see in the Christian sphere.

00:05:35.260 You're seeing it in politics as well, I think.

00:05:37.180 Yeah, I think it's right.

00:05:38.340 Look how many people, sort of younger than us, like kids to us, right, coming up, as you say, Generation Z, how MAGA they are, right?

00:05:49.080 They might not even be that political, but they know there's something about President Trump that they respond to.

00:05:56.200 And I think part of that is, you know, look, social scientists have been pointing out for generations that kids rebel against their parents.

00:06:04.140 And what we're really seeing now is that rebellion taking place, not just on the political sphere, but also on the religious sphere as well.

00:06:11.260 It's across every sphere.

00:06:12.080 It's across every sphere.

00:06:13.200 You know, I had this conversation with someone yesterday, a good friend of mine, and he said, why is it that Gen Z seems to be moving almost on the right?

00:06:23.580 They're going towards full Trump, and on the left, they're going full extreme.

00:06:27.200 And I said, what's interesting, and I'd love to get into this, they've never lived in a world where institutions worked.

00:06:33.460 Yeah.

00:06:33.660 And so they are now saying, we've got to go further and further, whether that means in the past or further towards the future, it's somewhere where they want to be able to find some clarity.

00:06:45.600 Live here in the Eternal City, we are in the Vatican, St. Peter's Square, the dome built by Michelangelo himself right behind me.

00:06:55.000 And we're waiting to see black or white smoke be coming from right, right there.

00:07:00.480 We'll see.

00:07:00.740 We'll be right back.

00:07:01.280 Jack Posobiec, live in Rome, Human Events Daily.

00:07:10.440 Today, you know, they talk about influencers.

00:07:13.080 These are influencers, and they're friends of mine.

00:07:17.320 Jack Posobiec.

00:07:18.860 Where's Jack?

00:07:19.780 Jack.

00:07:20.800 He's done a great job.

00:07:22.200 He's done a great job.

00:07:25.000 All right, Jack Posobiec, here we are.

00:07:28.620 We are back live in the Eternal City, Rome, sitting just outside, as you can see, steps away from St. Peter's Basilica, waiting for that proverbial white or black smoke to determine whether or not a pope has been chosen.

00:07:46.780 But, folks, let me tell you something.

00:07:48.260 When I travel, something that I think about a lot is my health.

00:07:53.760 And that's why I made sure when I was traveling.

00:07:57.380 And, hey, Producer Russ, can you actually go grab the – I want to show the truth on this.

00:08:03.560 I've got my wellness company travel kit is right here with me because you never know what you're going to get when you're traveling.

00:08:13.060 And, in fact, when it comes to some of the – one of the new things that they're offering is also weight loss because taking control of your weight is not about just looking good.

00:08:22.320 It's about taking back control of your health.

00:08:24.320 So here's my kit right here.

00:08:25.940 The wellness company right here outside of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, Italy, the Eternal City.

00:08:33.600 But, you know, here's some more information from the wellness company to give you info.

00:08:38.280 42% of Americans are classified as obese.

00:08:41.360 It's directly linked to severe health issues including heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and cancer, costing Americans $173 billion every year in medical expenses alone.

00:08:50.020 If you're dieting and working out with no success, it's not your fault the system is rigged against you.

00:08:54.500 Well, there's good news.

00:08:55.540 The wellness company, in addition to all the great travel medicine that I've definitely got with me because if I'm going to be doing the show and other shows while I'll be here, I need to be at peak performance.

00:09:07.780 They just announced DROP, a GLP-1 peptide oral drop formula developed by their chief medical board designed to support your metabolism, curb cravings, and help you shed weight.

00:09:19.520 That's right, no injections, no severe side effects.

00:09:22.320 We're seeing in the Zempick. 1.00

00:09:24.740 Just drop in water, gradually increasing the quantity over time, letting your body do the rest.

00:09:30.060 Start your weight loss journey today or get $50 and get $50 off plus free shipping.

00:09:37.140 So, TWC.help slash POSO. 0.95

00:09:40.500 Take aim for a healthier tomorrow.

00:09:43.400 We're here at Harnwell.

00:09:44.500 We're still waiting for that black smoke.

00:09:46.700 Do you expect to see white smoke tonight, though?

00:09:49.220 So, and for folks, you know, that aren't familiar, by the way, we want to bring in the Salem Radio Network, Hour 3, the Charlie Kirk Show.

00:09:55.020 We're here outside of St. Peter's looking for either black or white smoke.

00:09:59.460 Black smoke means pope has not been chosen.

00:10:02.780 White smoke means a pope has been chosen.

00:10:05.460 This will be the first, and it has not happened yet.

00:10:07.980 So, we're actually, we were expecting this about 25 minutes ago, a bit late, perhaps some conversations going on late into the evening.

00:10:14.900 But, Ben, would you expect there to be a pope tonight with white smoke?

00:10:18.780 No, I wouldn't.

00:10:19.520 And that's something I would actually fear quite a lot possibly because it would signify that Bergoglio was able to stitch up his successor with the 80% of the conclave that he appointed.

00:10:31.000 That it was basically just...

00:10:32.100 So, that would mean that, right, so that the fix is in.

00:10:35.040 The fix would be in.

00:10:35.660 The fix would be in, and the votes have already been cast long before anyone went into the Sistine Chapel.

00:10:41.680 And all of this, you know, sort of papabile and the betting markets, which apparently there's betting markets here as well.

00:10:50.800 This, of course, would, you know, would all be for naught because, in fact, there would be, there would be, in the sense, a, you know, a fix in.

00:11:00.500 And, by the way, you know, I know we're having some, we're dealing with some signal issues as well because we're here just outside the Faraday cage of the Sistine Chapel.

00:11:09.160 So, we're, you know, we're fighting some of those signal jammers as well as we're dealing with that.

00:11:12.780 And so, but, but Ben, so what you're saying then is, as the days go longer, perhaps the faithful could be more hopeful that we get a non-progressive pope, someone potentially who is more interested in even being opening and not persecuting the traditional Catholics.

00:11:32.820 I'm not that optimistic.

00:11:34.100 I'm not that hopeful.

00:11:34.760 I reckon there's going to be a progressive that comes out of that, comes out onto the, on the lodger, the balcony, whatever happens.

00:11:42.440 The, the, the way I heard it termed the other day, and I think it's a useful way of defining the issue, is are we going to get a revolutionary or simply a mere reformer?

00:11:51.540 Now, Parolin, the present or outgoing Secretary of State, the Vatican's Prime Minister, he would consider to be, I suppose, broadly a moderate reformer, but not a revolutionary.

00:12:02.500 And that is why the, the Bergoglio appointees are massively putting out the spin against him, saying he was obstructing Bergoglio on some of his pro, his pro openness reforms, for example, on the divorced and remarried receiving communion.

00:12:20.460 They're, they're saying that Parolin was trying to obstacle them from behind.

00:12:24.240 Um, so that's just an indication that, that, that the, that the Bergoglio rights really don't want someone who is going to slow down the, uh, the, the revolutionary, uh, momentum.

00:12:38.920 It's also turned down the momentum, but not the trajectory.

00:12:41.920 Exactly.

00:12:42.380 We'll see, folks.

00:12:43.800 Wise words.

00:12:44.920 Ben Harnwell here in Rome.

00:12:46.580 Ben, thanks so much for joining me, man.

00:12:48.460 Jack.

00:12:48.980 Let's do this in person for once, right?

00:12:50.980 Yeah.

00:12:51.200 Not so bad.

00:12:52.660 Okay.

00:12:52.900 Well, folks, we will be right back.

00:12:55.100 We've got the great Evita Duffy joining us next. 0.99

00:13:02.860 And Jack, where is Jack?

00:13:05.840 Where is Jack?

00:13:08.160 Where is he?

00:13:09.420 Jack, I want to see you.

00:13:13.080 Great job, Jack.

00:13:14.520 Thank you.

00:13:15.260 What a job you do.

00:13:16.320 You know, we have an incredible thing.

00:13:18.120 We're always talking about the fake news and the bad, but we have guys, and these are the guys who should be getting polices.

00:13:27.420 All right.

00:13:28.240 Jack Posobiec, here we are.

00:13:29.600 We are back live, Rome, Italy, at the site of the papal conclave.

00:13:37.280 This is a conclave which will decide the future for a billion plus Catholics around the world and also set the trajectory of world affairs in many ways, depending on which cardinal comes out yet.

00:13:52.660 And we're double-checking this, but I've got just behind me is where the smoke will arise from the Sistine Chapel.

00:14:01.500 It has yet to arise, which could potentially mean that tonight's deliberations, tonight is, this is the first day, this is the first evening of deliberations.

00:14:10.760 It could go, perhaps, later into the evening, much later than was originally thought.

00:14:17.320 We were expecting to see smoke as of now already.

00:14:21.440 I want to bring in my favorite anti-communist, but also a great Gen Z Catholic in her own right. 0.99

00:14:28.540 It's Evita Duffy, the host of the GINA Report early edition.

00:14:32.580 Evita, how are you?

00:14:34.100 Good.

00:14:34.700 Thanks for having me, Jack.

00:14:36.840 Evita, I wish you could be here.

00:14:38.940 I wish I could, too.

00:14:40.280 I thought your call to faithful Catholics to be praying outside of the conclave was so important.

00:14:45.860 I can't.

00:14:46.380 I wasn't given permission.

00:14:47.580 Maybe next time the Bongino army will let me go. 0.99

00:14:49.960 Maybe next time.

00:14:50.720 It's so good.

00:14:52.640 We knew there's a lot of good Catholics in the Bongino army.

00:14:55.560 But, you know, Evita, we were talking a little bit earlier and something that I've been saying all week and is the direction of the next papacy is potentially one where, one where we could continue this persecution.

00:15:10.280 Of the traditional Latin mass, the Orthodox version of the Catholic rites, or perhaps find a pope who strikes a chord that bridges some of these main, these burgeoning schisms.

00:15:26.800 I have to say it.

00:15:27.480 I hate to use the word, but that is what it is.

00:15:29.160 It is a potential schism within the church itself.

00:15:32.160 Or, you know, there's also the great, as Taylor Marshall says, the choice of the Sigma cardinal, Pizzaballa, who, Cardinal Pizzaballa, who comes from, he's currently situated in the Holy Land.

00:15:43.760 He's been there for quite some time.

00:15:45.000 He's been eschewing the sort of press tour.

00:15:49.720 He's not holding mass while he's been here.

00:15:51.700 He's sort of just been kind of going around Rome and going to mass while he's here.

00:15:56.000 No interviews whatsoever.

00:15:57.920 So, Evita, I wanted to get your sense on that, this huge surge of Gen Z that we're seeing into the church.

00:16:03.760 A lot of men, a lot of women as well.

00:16:06.880 What is Gen Z looking for when it comes to a new pope?

00:16:10.640 Well, such a good question, Jack, because the clear answer is tradition.

00:16:17.400 Gen Z is incredibly attracted to tradition.

00:16:20.440 If you look at churches that are growing and thriving, where there's lots of little babies and families coming together, they tend to be the more trad churches.

00:16:29.100 It's funny, when I was growing up in Wisconsin, I went to a Latin mass church.

00:16:33.360 It was actually confirmed there.

00:16:34.660 It's an Institute of Christ, the King Church.

00:16:36.800 And there were always babies crying, which was the greatest thing ever, because you knew it was a growing, thriving church.

00:16:42.560 You go down the road, and there are these older churches that have really held on to Vatican II, and they seem to be dying.

00:16:49.420 The pews are filled with very old people. 1.00

00:16:51.860 And I love old people. 0.99

00:16:53.320 That's great.

00:16:53.920 But it doesn't indicate that the church is growing and thriving.

00:16:57.040 Young people want tradition in the church. 1.00

00:16:59.460 People are praying right now.

00:17:00.840 Abita, if I could just throw out real quick, the phrase I've always loved is, if your church ain't crying, it's dying.

00:17:10.440 Exactly.

00:17:11.240 Exactly, Jack.

00:17:12.080 And this matters to everyone.

00:17:13.420 This is a great thing to keep in mind if you're not a Catholic.

00:17:16.640 The Catholic Church is civilizational.

00:17:19.000 It's an institution that has lasted for centuries.

00:17:21.260 It has clearly a massive impact on the entire world.

00:17:25.540 There are faithful Catholics everywhere in every single country and every corner of the earth.

00:17:28.740 So it matters if we want to have a Christian traditional revival in this country, in the world more broadly, that we have a conservative pope leading the Catholic Church.

00:17:38.980 This is good for everyone, irrespective of whether you're actually a Catholic.

00:17:44.720 And I think that's so important, you know, and as we wait here, and of course, you know, I'm hearing horns, I'm hearing sirens, you know, or perhaps, well, part of that's just being in Italy.

00:17:54.820 But another part of it is people are waiting, and there are thousands of people that we saw even earlier today waiting, praying, as each cardinal made, they did the roll call, they made the vow of silence.

00:18:07.340 They went up one by one, and then the doors of the Sistine Chapel were closed, and the order given extra omnes, which means every person who is not a cardinal, is ejected from the Sistine Chapel.

00:18:23.400 The all power cords are pulled out of that place, it's turned into a Faraday cage, no one is allowed out.

00:18:30.300 So you do get that, of course, while you're here, you do get that connection to these traditional rites.

00:18:37.880 And so it's amazing that here you are talking about how this is what Gen Z is looking for.

00:18:42.220 It's like, well, when you hold a papal conclave, this is one of the most ancient rites that there is.

00:18:47.660 And yet, why is it that Rome can seem to have that, and yet when it comes to just the average person wanting to go to Mass in anywhere in the States or anywhere across the continent,

00:18:59.220 it's so much harder to find those types of churches that are absolutely gorgeous, having the Latin Mass, or even going to, you know, even if it's a Norvis Ordo Mass, in a church that doesn't look like a YMCA with a cross-up.

00:19:13.620 You know what I mean?

00:19:15.140 Exactly, Jack.

00:19:15.940 And, you know, the church is under attack right now.

00:19:17.780 It's not, there aren't Christians being beheaded as there are in Congo, but in the United States, we have this problem.

00:19:22.940 I mean, under the last administration, you had FBI officials infiltrating traditional Catholic communities for potential extremism.

00:19:31.000 Right now, you have in Washington, forcing priests to potentially break the seal of confession and report crimes to law enforcement.

00:19:41.240 So there is a war against the Catholic Church waging right now.

00:19:45.160 And unfortunately, lukewarm Catholicism is not going to be capable of defending the faithful.

00:19:50.840 The church militant need strong leadership that leans into exactly what the Catholic Church stands for, all of the traditions, all of the moral teachings, and being proud of them instead of shying away from them, which is what we've been doing for a long time.

00:20:09.320 And that's precisely right.

00:20:11.100 By the way, folks, I want to remind everybody out there that, you know, people say, how do you do this every day, day in, day out?

00:20:19.080 And if we could take just one second, Evita, to remind people about today's episode sponsor, I'm going to tell you right now, they're Blackout Coffee, and they give us the ability, along with so many others, to do what we're doing out here.

00:20:30.280 So, folks, listen up, because if you're still drinking that corporate watered-down nonsense, it's time for a serious wake-up call.

00:20:36.320 Blackout Coffee, it's not just coffee, it's a statement, a declaration that you are done with weak coffee and weak values.

00:20:42.080 This is high-octane, American roasted fuel for those who grind harder, stand taller, and never back down.

00:20:48.720 Look, I know that I need that stuff to power me, to power what I do out here on mission.

00:20:56.060 Blackout Coffee, it's not just playing games.

00:20:58.100 They're cranking out more bags than ever, shipping faster than ever, and keeping you locked in with coffee that actually fires you up.

00:21:04.160 Whether you're chasing big goals, crushing the daily grind, or refusing to drink coffee made by people who hate you, Blackout Coffee has your back.

00:21:11.640 So, stop settling.

00:21:13.440 Go to blackoutcoffee.com slash POSO and use promo code POSO for 20% off your first order.

00:21:18.500 Drink like a patriot and go and drink Blackout Coffee.

00:21:22.080 That's blackoutcoffee.com slash POSO, blackoutcoffee.com slash POSO.

00:21:27.660 Evita, you know, as we think about this, it's so true. 0.95

00:21:31.620 The church has been under attack, and I've just got to say it.

00:21:35.160 I didn't hear the biggest responses to attacks on the church from the clergy.

00:21:39.900 I heard it from people like Donald Trump, like senators like Josh Hawley, people out there as conservative pundits, Dan Bongino fighting back, who went along with Kash Patel to go and shore up the FBI that was conducting some of these attacks.

00:21:56.640 But it almost feels like the American clergy.

00:21:58.440 And I know when I talked to Charlie Kirk, and he says he sees the same thing in some of the evangelical world, that you just have these priests and pastors who kind of want to go along to get along, go with the flow and meet the world where it is, rather than being that unchanging rock, that unchanging beacon of truth in a world gone mad.

00:22:19.260 That's what the church is called to be, isn't it?

00:22:22.220 Yes.

00:22:22.620 And Jack, I actually wrote multiple articles in the wake of these reports that the FBI was surveilling and infiltrating traditional Catholic communities, asking the U.S. Catholic Conference of Bishops, will you come out and defend the faithful who are being targeted by this administration?

00:22:38.620 They did not respond to me, there were a couple individual bishops who had comments on what happened, but the U.S. Catholic Conference of Bishops was silent.

00:22:47.780 And in fact, where I lived in Chicago, Cardinal Cupich shut down Latin Mass, they shut down the church that I was attending.

00:22:55.040 So in my view, what the church was doing in the last few years is not only did they not defend the faithful, they actually piled on by trying to restrict traditional liturgy.

00:23:05.040 And it just goes to show there is a corruption, there is a rot in the church, there needs to be a rebirth, there needs to be a revival of the church.

00:23:15.940 We're conservatives, you don't believe in tearing things down and destroying them like the left does.

00:23:20.420 There needs to be a revival that is not abandoning the church in this time of need, but to really pray for it, to ask for true guidance, which we have not had in a very long time.

00:23:30.200 Well, and that's exactly right. You know, people say when you hear people say why they left the church, one of the first things they'll say is because of the clergy and the corruption scandal from sort of the late 90s, early 2000s.

00:23:47.780 So many people will say that was the problem. And not just that it happened, but the fact that so much of the American bishops were covering it up.

00:23:55.500 They were absolutely covering it up. We as Catholics have to say we demand more, we demand better.

00:24:02.540 We are going to clean up our own house before anyone else even has a chance to.

00:24:07.540 So that's something as well that, by the way, I would love to see out of this conclave right now.

00:24:12.780 And I've even heard people say that I would hope I'm praying for this. Of course, we pray that the Holy Spirit is in that room right now, working on the heart of every single member of the conclave.

00:24:21.760 But in addition, what I hope is that someone in that conclave, one of the cardinals will get up and say, if there was any cardinal here that was associated with one of these scandals, they should recuse themselves.

00:24:34.320 They should recuse themselves from the vote, and they should, in fact, step out of this.

00:24:39.160 And that would include, I'm sorry, I hate to say this, but it would include a lot of high-level cardinals.

00:24:44.600 Last minute in the segment, Evita Duffy.

00:24:47.600 Well, I'll just say, if you go to LifeSite News, great organization.

00:24:50.260 They're actually keeping track of some of these individuals who are high-ranking cardinals who are going to be voting and who have connections to Cardinal McCarrick, one of the worst child sex abusers in the Catholic Church's history.

00:25:00.820 So, these people definitely should recuse themselves. They can't be guided by the Holy Spirit. In fact, they should take a step back, focus on their own spiritual health at this time.

00:25:09.200 So, there are a lot of people who should not be voting. What's most important right now is that everybody, whether you're a Catholic or not, pray for this conclave. It matters to the Catholic Church. It matters to the world.

00:25:19.060 That absolutely matters to the world. Evita, let's hold you over one more segment because there's a lot to talk about here.

00:25:26.680 And, of course, we're waiting for that smoke over my right shoulder. It's a little bit darker, but we've got a shot where it's lighter.

00:25:33.640 I mean, these guys, don't they understand that we're live right now? They should be a little more appreciative.

00:25:39.620 I flew all the way here for human events daily, and they can't even get one measly puff of smoke while we're on air. My gosh. My gosh. What are we going to do, folks? Quick break. Right back. Jack Posobiec, live from Rome.

00:25:53.380 Jack is a great guy. He's written a fantastic book. Everybody's talking about it. Go get it. And he's been my friend right from the beginning of this whole beautiful event. And we're going to turn it around and make our country cry to get to him. Amen.

00:26:17.820 Thank you, sir.

00:26:47.820 And of course, of course, we won't know until that white smoke comes up behind me above the Sistine Chapel. There's perhaps no clearer sign of an ensuing conclave. Vatican firefighters installing the chimney where, when the Pope has been named, white smoke will billow.

00:27:05.220 As for who the next one will be, the church leaves it to 133 cardinal electors and the Holy Spirit.

00:27:13.880 When I'm working long hours, I'm always listening to human events with Jack Posobiec.

00:27:28.280 All right, Jack Posobiec here back. We are live in Rome, Italy, just steps away from St. Peter's Basilica itself, the Vatican. Of course, we are waiting for a billow of smoke.

00:27:45.280 And earlier, when the show started, it was a little bit lighter, but the sun is now down.

00:27:51.960 And so if we do get that black smoke, I'm sorry, folks, you won't be able to see it.

00:27:56.440 And for those of you listening on the Salem Radio Network or on the podcast, you wouldn't be able to see it anyway.

00:28:01.300 But I tell you all about it, and you've probably seen smoke before.

00:28:03.420 We're on with Evita Duffy of the Bongino Report, early edition.

00:28:08.620 Evita, let's step back a little bit here and talk about this just from a more meta perspective as we end up the show.

00:28:17.620 Religion, specifically Christianity, is always targeted by the forces of revolution, by the forces of the left. 0.70

00:28:27.600 Why is it that religion is something that they always target first, just like in the United States in the 1960s, it was God in the public square and God in schools that was the very first target?

00:28:40.640 Why is it always Christianity? 1.00

00:28:43.440 Well, look, Jack, I mean, authoritarian regimes everywhere, they thrive off of the authority that they have.

00:28:49.200 They thrive off of fear of people viewing them as the absolute.

00:28:52.960 And when you have tons and tons of people in your country viewing God in heaven as their ultimate authority, suddenly those people become a lot less, a lot more difficult to control.

00:29:08.180 This is why communist regimes everywhere hate Christianity.

00:29:11.720 This is why they purposely try to subvert the church everywhere they go.

00:29:15.820 This is just what happens.

00:29:17.800 And if I could just say, Jack, right now, there are a lot of people on TikTok and on Instagram who were Catholics, former Catholics, who are now weighing in on the conclave.

00:29:27.700 And they have all these opinions about the Catholic Church and why it should be woke.

00:29:32.040 I just have to say the Catholic Church needs really strong, really traditional leadership.

00:29:37.100 And everybody weighing in, the vast majority of them, do not care about Catholicism.

00:29:41.360 They said nothing about the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence back during the Biden admin.

00:29:47.920 They said nothing about the targeting of traditional Catholics under the Biden admin.

00:29:51.200 I really don't want to hear it from a lot of these people.

00:29:53.580 The church is under attack and we need strong leadership.

00:29:57.840 And it's really as simple as that.

00:29:59.500 People are done with the weakness.

00:30:02.260 They are done with the, as C.S. Lewis would call it, the men without chests. 0.99

00:30:07.880 You want someone who has, but, and this is also something, by the way, that, you know, it gets into a different discussion, but it is, there's a difference between physical strength and moral strength.

00:30:20.200 And physical strength, you can go to the gym, you can work out, you can do your reps, you can do all that.

00:30:25.540 Lots of great people can go out and be an athlete.

00:30:28.240 But then many times we see this with some athletes and many others, they lack moral strength and moral character.

00:30:36.220 And Evita, isn't that really what we're lacking so much in society today?

00:30:40.200 Yeah, I mean, well, what is, what is society geared toward today?

00:30:43.980 Ultimately, it's all about pleasure.

00:30:46.380 It's all about what makes me feel good in every circumstance.

00:30:50.120 And the Catholic Church actually says, you know what?

00:30:52.580 You actually need to suffer a little bit in life.

00:30:54.880 You need to go through some hardships, you need to actually make difficult decisions that are the right decisions.

00:30:59.980 If you want to truly be happy, you need to turn to Christ if you want to be happy, which is a really hard thing to do, especially in the world that we live in.

00:31:09.380 It's actually a radical departure from what the modern world is presenting to people.

00:31:15.260 And it's a threat to the, to the cultural norms of our time.

00:31:19.200 It's a threat to authoritarian governments.

00:31:20.800 It's a threat to a lot of things and a lot of people.

00:31:23.740 And that's why this conclave is so important.

00:31:26.480 And it's why so many people who you think shouldn't be caring about the Catholic Church at all are weighing in because this is such a momentous occasion.

00:31:33.880 And as it comes down to, this is going to affect not just the 1.5 billion Catholics, but a voice for so many out there when it comes, by the way, we have so many wars that are going on right now that were not happening when the last Pope actually didn't die, but stepped aside, which is a whole other conversation we could have, I'm sure.

00:31:58.400 But we see the war in Israel and Gaza, we see the war in Ukraine, we see India and Pakistan, which it popped off, seems to have simmered down. 0.78

00:32:10.220 But, you know, we see if that will escalate.

00:32:13.320 We want a Pope that stands for peace.
