00:01:33.240 the blind eye elections Alberta has towards Thomas Lukasik's Forever Canadian Referendum
00:01:39.280 campaign. And it is a campaign. More on that in just a moment. Also, some upcoming events,

00:01:50.120 Bruce Party just prior to the telethon right here in my studio. Bruce from Ontario, but he's got
00:01:57.160 some terrific insight into the referendum and also the independence campaign. So we'll have
00:02:02.040 that for you in just a moment. So let's look at my response to the Elections Alberta signature
00:02:07.560 count. About, excuse me, 20,000 people have watched this video, which I put up late yesterday
00:02:13.540 afternoon. 223,000. This number bothers me. Am I the only one? This number bothered me.
00:02:21.260 And I wasn't happy about it. And in a very short video, link in the description, I talk about this.
00:02:27.160 Now, I got a response to my response to the signature count from, here it is right here,
00:02:36.100 Greg in Minnesota. Now, this is not a shot at Greg. Thank you for writing me, Greg. I appreciate
00:02:41.080 this. I just want to explain why I did that video yesterday. I understand your point of view.
00:02:47.100 I just saw your Saturday video about the signature count being way off. My old Taekwondo instructor
00:02:52.640 always said, once you piss your opponent off, you've got them beat. Watching your channel, PJ's
00:02:57.840 in the fringe, it's clear to see the Liberals are trying to create as much chaos as possible
00:03:01.400 to loosen the Alberta Prosperity's grip and high batting average. During my younger Taekwondo days,
00:03:07.720 we were trained to watch your opponent's face, looking for any sign of confusion. So the point
00:03:13.080 is, don't bring it up because basically you are showing weakness when it comes to your opponent.
00:03:20.120 you've been beaten by your opponent once you show that weakness. I wrote back to Greg and I said
00:03:25.960 this. There's also a saying, if you don't push back, you get pushed around. Alberta has been
00:03:31.780 pushed around for too long. I haven't said too much about Lukasik because I haven't wanted to
00:03:38.260 sound like a whiner. That's true. I haven't said much about Lukasik. I think what's going on is
00:03:43.420 wrong, but I haven't said very much for the same reason you wrote me. But don't insult my
00:03:49.220 intelligence, now I'm not talking about you, Greg, I'm talking about Elections Alberta here,
00:03:53.800 don't insult my intelligence and suggest the people I admire so much, who sat in the freezing
00:04:00.380 cold for months, screwed up 80,000 times. Because the original number we got was around 301,000
00:04:08.860 signatures. And we were told that the people who worked so hard and were so diligent about getting
00:04:14.800 all the proper information, screwed up 80,000 times. As I finished this to Greg, enough is
00:04:20.840 enough. That's what bothered me about this signature count. It really bothered me. It was
00:04:27.080 an insult to those people who worked so hard. So that's why I responded to it. The LeCasic thing
00:04:33.260 I think will straighten itself out, and that's because a couple of groups are pushing back. 1.00

00:04:42.520 Today we filed a former legal complaint with the election commissioner
00:04:46.420 asking Elections Alberta to investigate the activities of Forever Canadian,
00:04:51.440 a registered referendum third-party advertiser
00:04:54.060 founded by former Alberta Progressive Conservative Cabinet Minister Thomas Lukasik.
00:04:59.220 I should make you aware that Let Alberta Decide has filed a substantive formal written complaint
00:05:04.760 to the chief electoral officer in hope that that office will take immediate steps
00:05:11.420 to restore public trust.
00:05:13.820 It's very disappointing.
00:05:16.320 It's an incredibly important institution, officials who regulate our election system.
00:05:22.300 It's the core of democracy is people voting
00:05:25.100 and trusting that their vote is being properly counted
00:05:28.500 and that the election process has integrity.
00:05:32.700 Clearly, that's not the case today,
00:05:35.480 given the blatant actions by the chief electoral officer
00:05:39.000 turning a blind eye to Tomic Lukasik's,
00:05:43.680 seeking foreign donations, which he's publicly stated,
00:05:47.540 seeking donations in excess of the limits that apply to all of us, $5,000,
00:05:51.560 not reporting his donations, clearly engaging in a campaign.
00:05:56.840 And as he said, Mr. Lekasik did in the BBC article, that he's going to do everything in his power to win the vote.
00:06:06.400 He's clearly seeking to cause people to vote for option one on question 10 on the October 19th referendum.
00:06:17.580 The pressure is on Gordon McClure, the chief electoral officer and Elections Alberta.
00:06:22.960 I think there will be a resolution to this soon.

00:16:35.780 I got a question for you. You're here talking about independence.
00:16:39.160 You've been in the province many times. Right now, as we record this, you're working with Jason Levine.
00:16:44.760 you're talking with Dennis Kelma, with Matthew Rowley about a constitution. Your idea has been
00:16:50.120 very, very popular. But what is an Ontarian doing interloping and coming into Alberta to talk
00:16:56.920 about independence like this? Why are you here? Because Alberta might be the last great hope
00:17:02.680 of things. Albertans have an opportunity here and I hope they can see what an important moment
00:17:12.120 it is of course they want to save the province and become a country and they really should but
00:17:18.200 if you're too close to it you might think that this is about a pipeline or about equalization
00:17:22.920 and it is it is about those things it is right yes but the west is unraveling now canada is one of
00:17:31.000 the worst countries but the things that are happening in canada are also happening elsewhere
00:17:36.440 right you when you say the west you're talking about western civilization i don't mean i don't
00:17:39.880 Western Canada, right. Now it's happening in Canada, but the way, I mean, the countries of
00:17:45.200 the West, the countries that we're all familiar with are all unraveling, not in exactly the same
00:17:50.420 way at the same rate, but, but the West as a, as a historical event is in trouble.
00:18:00.380 Right. You say it's unraveling and I guess it's probably impossible to answer. Is there one in
00:18:05.100 one particular thing that really stands out yes yes the singular achievement of western civilization
00:18:11.740 in my opinion has been individual autonomy the liberty of the person right and that is
00:18:20.380 getting nailed down and restricted in countries all over the all over the world all over the west
00:18:26.620 in the uk in places in europe and even to some extent in the us but especially in canada and
00:18:33.900 And Alberta has a chance here to make a fresh start.
00:18:39.100 In other words, if it was to succeed in leaving Canada and turning the page and starting with
00:18:47.680 a blank slate to think, how do we want this to work?
00:18:51.360 How should we be governed?
00:18:52.820 How can we be governed in a way that individuals actually have control over their own lives
00:18:58.840 Instead of being looked over by a managerial state, how do we order things to bring that back and essentially show the rest of the world how this is supposed to be done?
00:19:11.140 It's interesting because when you're talking, you know, you spoke with Jason with the Alberta Women's Independence Network.

00:19:18.580 It was very popular, your idea, which is basically a hands-off attitude more than anything.
00:19:24.500 People are really drawn to that right now.

00:19:26.840 And what I find fascinating about this whole thing, and when I'm talking about young people, I'm thinking we have an opportunity to build a brand new country from the ground up here that's really new.
00:19:38.020 What are the barriers to us getting there, though, Bruce?
00:19:40.760 Well, you know, one of the main barriers is what people think that they want.
00:19:45.700 I did a debate, as you may know, with Jason Kenney a few months ago.
00:19:49.040 And Jason did say one thing that made me think maybe he's right.
00:19:55.040 I hope he's wrong, but maybe he's right.
00:19:57.140 And that one thing was this, and I'm going to paraphrase.
00:19:59.040 I don't know the exact words he is.
00:20:00.840 But he said, you know, most Albertans, independents or not, are going to continue to want a full-service welfare state.
00:20:13.780 I remember that, yeah.
00:20:15.000 And if he's right, then we're in trouble.
00:20:18.300 Because for me, the purpose of this, and I'm not here to say what the purpose of this is because I'm not in Alberta.
00:20:24.740 But I would like the purpose of this to be to reestablish the idea that you own your own life and you are not subject to the dictates of one of these.
00:20:34.460 Do you think he was saying that people are going to want to still have their freebies?
00:20:40.400 Is that the kind of thing?
00:20:41.080 Still have their freebies, but freebies come along with restrictions and requirements and compulsions, right?
00:20:45.220 So, for example, if you continue to have single-payer public health care, you know, run by the government, restricted by the government, paid for by the government, of course, the government doesn't pay for anything.
00:20:56.940 Taxes pay for it.

00:20:58.200 So, a single-payer public health care system is coercive by definition.
00:21:03.420 Number one, taxpayers are required to pay for it.
00:21:06.100 And number two, they will define what health care you get and when and why and how.

00:21:11.380 And you will get waiting lines instead of service.

00:21:14.940 that's coercive. And if we want to get out of the state that we're in, we will recognize that all of
00:21:24.140 these services come with compulsions. And it's the compulsions we're trying to get away from,
00:21:29.580 and therefore, the idea of a full-service welfare state really has to go.
00:21:33.500 What do you think, from somebody looking from Ontario, it's very interesting, I'm from Ontario,
00:21:38.380 I think I might have a better understanding of Albertans than Albertans do, because
00:21:42.920 I wasn't one at one time. What needs to be said and done for the independent side to win?
00:21:52.300 Huge question. I'm sorry. We don't have a lot of time here. That's why I want to have you back on
00:21:57.220 the chair. I wish I had an easy answer to that question. But if nothing else, I mean, one reason
00:22:02.100 that I'm here and not trying to do this in Ontario is because this is impossible in Ontario.
00:22:08.120 It's impossible nearly everywhere else. In other words, this is going back to the point
00:22:12.140 that Albertans have the mindset where this is at least a possibility, and that is the case
00:22:19.020 nowhere else. If you were trying to think of a way to fix Canada, the table is empty except for
00:22:26.560 this. There are essentially no other proposals on the table to work with. It has to be this or
00:22:33.860 nothing. It's a final question because we don't have all day and we could go on all day, but if
00:22:38.940 alberta leaves will this help fix canada yes absolutely because what we need in canada is
00:22:44.860 political disruption i don't know where that leads to but you've got to start there and and
00:22:51.580 the alberta leaving or even the serious prospect of alberta leaving would cause might cause the
00:22:58.860 kind of political disruption that would require this country to seriously look in the mirror
00:23:04.060 at its own foundational trouble we need disruption i was thinking i was thinking of the great civil
00:23:10.380 war abolitionist frederick douglas black man by the way right and one of his famous quotes is
00:23:15.500 agitate agitate agitate and maybe that's what needs to be done to fix things across the country
