00:00:00.000 Hi, it's John, and welcome to the channel, 7.05 a.m.
00:00:08.080 Hope you're having a great start to your work week.
00:00:09.980 I've got my big blue mug of coffee.
00:00:12.160 It is Monday, July the 7th.
00:00:13.540 Hope you had a great weekend as well.
00:00:14.960 It was rather cool and damp here in Calgary for the start of the Calgary Stampede, expecting
00:00:19.620 to get really hot, particularly tomorrow, up to 32 degrees, which I love.
00:00:23.280 I love summer.
00:00:24.260 I like when it gets hot.
00:00:26.240 And I'm getting going late today.
00:00:27.960 As you can tell by the late hour, I'm doing this video, but it took me a while to get
00:00:31.440 inspired for today's video.
00:00:32.900 And the person that inspired me was Pierre Polyev.
00:00:37.040 He was in town this past weekend for the Calgary Stampede.
00:00:40.060 As Calgary becomes a political soapbox, Mark Carney was here as well.
00:00:43.880 But he said something that perfectly described why I am a conservative, maybe you as well,
00:00:49.260 but also why I want an independent Alberta.
00:00:53.760 So we'll get to that in just a moment.
00:00:55.220 But I wanted to start off with something else he said during his speech over the weekend.
00:01:00.760 And he did this at the expense of Mark Carney.
00:01:03.280 And let's just hear what he had to say here.
00:01:04.920 A little fun to start things off.
00:01:06.500 And so let me start in a spirit of nonpartisanship as a Calgarian to welcome Prime Minister Mark
00:01:12.440 Carney to his very first stampede in this role.
00:01:16.600 And he had, of course, to do the customary thing and flip some pancakes.
00:01:20.260 Now, he thought he would be great at it because in his trade talks with Trump,
00:01:25.120 he's had so much experience flip-flopping.
00:01:30.420 So it's his first time in this role.
00:01:32.720 And for a lot of you, you're hoping it's the last time he's at the stampede in this role.
00:01:37.280 In case you missed it, by the way, here's Carney doing some flipping.
00:01:40.160 So he made an absolute mess of the pancake.
00:01:47.020 And it's been like pancake wars on X this morning.
00:01:52.200 It's been insane.
00:01:54.620 The right going after Carney for not being able to flip a pancake.
00:01:58.620 And the left defending him.
00:02:00.020 It's all rather petty.
00:02:01.460 But that's the way things are in Canada now.
00:02:04.160 So what did Poliev have to say?
00:02:06.660 Well, Poliev's running in the by-election here.
00:02:08.400 I hope he wins.
00:02:09.360 I want to see him back in question period.
00:02:11.060 I think he's one of the best in question period ever.
00:02:13.080 And I think he will just hammer Mark Carney.
00:02:15.580 It'll be wonderful to see.
00:02:17.160 I hope he wins his writing for sure.
00:02:18.740 Because I think the people the left are supporting is an independent.
00:02:22.920 I believe her name is Bonnie Critchley.
00:02:24.360 And her stance on experimenting on little kids who have some mental health issues,
00:02:30.000 I find rather loathsome.
00:02:31.480 I won't go any farther than that.
00:02:32.860 But what did Poliev have to say that so inspired me this morning?
00:02:35.760 See if you find this inspirational as well.
00:02:39.100 Let me just flip over here.
00:02:41.180 Here we go.
00:02:42.320 By blocking you from doing something and then making you ask the government to help you do it,
00:02:47.380 it makes you reliant on them.
00:02:49.540 It puts them at the center of all power in charge of your life.
00:02:53.540 And that is their mission.
00:02:55.020 That is their goal.
00:02:56.460 Mark Carney wants a full government takeover of our economy.
00:03:00.020 He wants more control over your life.
00:03:02.100 So elites and insiders like him control and profit from everything.
00:03:06.860 We conservatives, by contrast, we believe in freedom.
00:03:10.620 We want you to have the ability to control your own destiny and make your own course.
00:03:15.560 We believe in freedom of enterprise, freedom of speech, thought, religion, expression, and more.
00:03:21.520 We want government that minds its own business and leaves people to be free to decide for themselves.
00:03:27.480 So on the conservative part, that perfectly describes what I'm about.
00:03:34.340 People say, what do you want as a conservative?
00:03:36.760 I know it's rather simplistic, but I simply want to be left alone.
00:03:41.080 For the most part, I would like to keep more of what I earn.
00:03:44.840 And I don't have to go ask for permission from the government.
00:03:48.520 And on the independence part, that's the other thing he said.
00:03:50.720 We have to ask for permission.
00:03:52.800 And that's what drives me crazy.
00:03:54.420 Alberta should be able to chart its own course forward and we will be able to prosper.
00:03:59.780 But we have this anchor of the federal government and the federal liberals and Mark Carney that are dragging us down.
00:04:06.940 So on the conservative side, Polyev perfectly nails it.
00:04:10.600 And he says, we have to ask for permission from Mark Carney.
00:04:13.640 They want control.
00:04:15.220 And with all due respect to Mr. Polyev, I think things would have been better if he were the prime minister.
00:04:21.240 But things wouldn't have changed all that much because we have to go through the federal government to chart our course.
00:04:26.560 It makes me sick.
00:04:27.740 Case in point, we can look over here at this article right here from Reuters.
00:04:32.540 Carney says, new oil pipeline proposal in Canada is highly likely.
00:04:36.460 It should be absolutely positively happening.
00:04:39.860 That's what he should be saying.
00:04:41.100 But he's not because we have to ask him.
00:04:43.340 He's in control.
00:04:45.580 That's why I want independence.
00:04:47.760 We can do better on our own.
00:04:49.040 If you are sitting on the fence on this, look at this right here.
00:04:53.400 We should have more.
00:04:54.400 It says pipeline.
00:04:56.220 Scott Moe, Danielle Smith sitting together.
00:04:58.880 We have hundreds of projects we want done.
00:05:01.180 Mark Carney and the Liberal Party and the federal government in Ottawa and the East are going to decide your fate.
00:05:08.640 Danielle Smith, here she is.
00:05:10.520 Alberta won't wait on Ottawa to decide how we keep our community safe.
00:05:15.280 This is talking about a police force.
00:05:17.860 The left's going crazy over this.
00:05:19.860 Why?
00:05:20.840 Ontario has the Ontario Provincial Police, the OPP.
00:05:23.780 Quebec has the Saurite de Quebec.
00:05:25.740 And I don't know what the police force in Newfoundland is called, but they have their own police.
00:05:29.100 Why is this wrong?
00:05:30.100 We've been told by the federal government they're probably going to cut back on funding to the RCMP anywhere.
00:05:34.400 And for real people who live elsewhere, you know, I used to do bike rides just to the East of Calgary.
00:05:40.120 I'd go 40 kilometers and see three houses.
00:05:43.920 The RCMP take hours to get to people if there's a problem.
00:05:47.220 If we had our own provincial police force.
00:05:48.960 This is charting our own path.
00:05:52.260 That's what we want here as independent Albertans.
00:05:55.260 I go back to this.
00:05:56.340 This is from 2022.
00:05:59.520 Listen to what she has to say here.
00:06:01.420 Listen to this.
00:06:01.900 Finally, the Ottawa problem.
00:06:04.120 There can be no doubt that the current NDP-Liberal alliance is just the latest in a long line of Ottawa governments
00:06:10.760 that have frustrated the legitimate aspirations of hardworking Albertans.
00:06:17.200 That stops now.
00:06:18.560 When Ottawa announces policies and laws that attack our economy or violate the rights of our people,
00:06:24.640 or when Ottawa seeks to take control of our sovereign areas of provincial jurisdiction,
00:06:31.220 our UCP government will not enforce those laws and policies in this province, period.
00:06:38.880 And I'll jump ahead a bit here on the video.
00:06:42.380 Every single time that they step out of line and intrude on our constitutional rights,
00:06:48.380 Alberta will no longer ask permission from Ottawa to be prosperous and free.
00:06:54.640 Alberta will no longer ask permission from Ottawa to be prosperous and free.
00:07:00.400 She said that in 2022 at the UCPAGM, and that's exactly what I want.
00:07:07.040 I've said here so many times, we have to beg for things from the federal government, and I'm tired of it.
00:07:14.180 Smith has made this quite clear over and over and over again.
00:07:18.100 When the Liberals were running their leadership campaign, all through the federal election into this very day,
00:07:24.200 we want to chart our own course without having to be on our knees begging of Mark Carney, the Liberal government, Ottawa, and the East.
00:07:32.560 We're sick and tired of it.
00:07:33.860 And that's the video for today.
00:07:36.780 Thank you very much for watching.
00:07:38.340 I do appreciate it.
00:07:39.820 I hope you have a great week.
00:07:42.040 I'll certainly see you tomorrow.
