Juno News - Canadians TRAPPED in a warzone + BC man fined $750k for stating true facts

00:00:00.000 Hi, I'm Candice Malcolm and this is the Candice Malcolm Show news update.

00:00:05.720 Today is Monday, February 23rd, 2026.

00:00:08.380 It's my son's birthday, so happy birthday, Jasper.

00:00:10.520 We have a ton of news to get to, so here are the top stories we're looking at today.

00:00:14.380 I'm going to buy this right now.

00:00:18.120 It's a really intense scene happening here in Port of the Air.

00:00:21.260 Many Canadian vacationers are stranded in Mexico after unbelievable events have unfolded there Sunday afternoon,

00:00:28.340 including the taking out of a top cartel leader and the cartels reacting really tense, really terrifying.

00:00:34.840 We're going to get through all of that today.

00:00:36.480 Throwing the doors wide open to anyone and everyone across the globe has flooded our classrooms, 0.81

00:00:41.760 emergency rooms and social support systems with far too many people, far too quickly.

00:00:46.540 Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is letting Albertans decide how their province should deal with the issue of mass migration,

00:00:53.660 announcing that there will be a referendum on that issue coming up in October.

00:00:57.360 Barry Neufeld, who's a former trustee of the Chilliwack School Board,

00:01:01.480 was found guilty today of not believing in transgenderism.

00:01:05.360 The B.C. Human Rights Tribunal has fined a former school trustee $750,000 for stating biological truths and facts.

00:01:15.520 It's really unbelievable.

00:01:16.900 And finally, the legacy media is just pushing fake news left, right and centre.

00:01:20.340 We're going to get to some of the most egregious examples that we saw over the weekend.

00:01:23.860 All right, folks, there is a lot of news to get into, so we're going to get right into it.

00:01:28.560 The Jalisco New Generation Cartel, also known as the CJNG, a major drug cartel that apparently has power and has control over large swaths of Mexico.

00:01:40.660 Well, their leader was taken out on Sunday.

00:01:43.560 His name was El Mencho.

00:01:44.780 It was a top dog in this cartel, and basically all hell broke loose in the beachside town of Puerto Vallarta.

00:01:53.040 I've been to Puerto Vallarta a couple of times.

00:01:55.220 It is a beautiful, lovely place, and you sort of get a false sense of security because you feel like you could be in California or somewhere in the developed world.

00:02:02.780 But the reality is that Mexico is not.

00:02:05.200 Mexico is a very dangerous country, as we saw what unfolded on Sunday. 0.63

00:02:10.220 So one of the country's most popular tourist destinations was suddenly filled with smoke and fire and gunfire and cartels just absolutely acting like terrorists in the Middle East, shooting up areas, setting stores on fire, setting a Costco on fire, terrorising people.

00:02:26.780 In this town, the cartel has been designated as a terror group.

00:02:31.000 They were destroying infrastructure, creating barricades, and taking over even some airports.

00:02:36.500 It was an incredibly scary scene.

00:02:38.840 Let me just tell you, folks, my parents are down there right now.

00:02:41.140 My dad and my stepmom vacation every year in a little town just north of Puerto Vallarta.

00:02:46.140 I talked to them on the phone.

00:02:46.940 They're safe.

00:02:47.480 Thank goodness.

00:02:48.060 Thank God we were praying for them and all of the Canadians.

00:02:50.980 But let me tell you, there are thousands and thousands of Canadians down there, and it must just be sheer terror for them and for the families like myself.

00:02:59.200 So hours after the attack, streets appeared to be reclaimed by the Mexican military, who eventually overpowered the cartels with helicopters, tanks, and firepower.

00:03:09.340 So one amazing, incredible independent journalist from Vancouver, B.C., Dan Dix, happened to be down there.

00:03:15.620 He was speaking at an event and receiving an award, I believe.

00:03:18.060 And he did some incredible reporting from the ground of just what it looked like and what it was like.

00:03:23.820 So we're going to play his footage that was totally going viral online, plus other scenes, incredible scenes of people hiding out in airports, Canadian passengers on the tarmac.

00:03:34.560 You know, a WestJet flight to Edmonton was apparently about to board when this all went down.

00:03:39.120 And so the passengers can be seen running onto the tarmac.

00:03:41.920 And you'll also see Canadians on a rooftop.

00:03:44.940 You know, it's supposed to be a vacation, right?

00:03:46.240 They're out there getting some sun in a pool and just looking around and seeing, like, pure terror, that actually the place you're visiting isn't as safe as you were led to believe.

00:03:57.760 So let's show those clips.

00:03:59.200 Just walking on the beach and we saw smoke everywhere.

00:04:03.060 And we're being informed that there's major, major cartel violence happening right now all over Puerto Vallarta.

00:04:10.180 We're being told, do not go out at all.

00:04:13.340 Do not walk in the streets.

00:04:14.640 Do not get in a taxi or an Uber.

00:04:16.300 Do not go to the airport.

00:04:18.000 In fact, the entire airport may be shut down right now because of this cartel violence.

00:04:23.920 There was a top drug lord cartel member, El Mencho, who has been killed.

00:04:30.480 I believe there was a $15 million bounty on this man's head and he is now dead.

00:04:35.380 And that has caused this whole situation to pop off.

00:04:38.600 The place looks like an absolute war zone right now, folks.

00:04:44.760 Cartel has been setting up blockades in the streets, stopping cars.

00:04:50.880 A whole bus was set on fire.

00:04:53.980 You've got cartel members who literally look like the military.

00:04:59.720 These guys are serious.

00:05:00.740 A hospital was under attack.

00:05:04.600 People running for their lives.

00:05:07.520 There was the Guadalajara airport that was under attack.

00:05:12.060 People literally running all over the place, screaming and crying.

00:05:16.440 The Puerto Vallarta airport as well had a big scare.

00:05:22.240 A lot of people were evacuated on the tar map, you know, had to run out on the runway to get away from the intense situation.

00:05:34.080 And it seems like it's not about to slow down anytime soon.

00:05:38.320 And as I understand it, the cartel have announced that they are going to be entering private homes and potentially hotel resorts at 5 p.m.

00:05:51.520 our time if their demands are not met.

00:05:55.660 And so, like I mentioned, the cartels were blowing up cars.

00:05:59.320 They were commandeering cars and setting them on fire to create barricades, blowing up gas stations, burning down businesses, grocery stores.

00:06:05.820 Like I said, even at Costco, they attacked at Costco, which obviously is there for the American and the Canadian tourists.

00:06:11.480 So really scary taking over banks.

00:06:13.620 They captured multiple airports.

00:06:14.920 And they're basically just trying to spread as much terror and destruction as they could in response and retaliation for their leader being taken out.

00:06:23.980 And now in the midst of this genuine, tense, scary moment and the chaos that was happening, a left-wing politician tried to jump in and virtue signal.

00:06:33.660 Let's just say it didn't go very well.

00:06:34.940 So NDP MP Heather McPherson had this to say on social media.

00:06:39.560 She wrote this.

00:06:40.180 Many Canadians, especially members of the 2SLGBTQIA plus community, are in Port of Iharto, where violence has quickly escalated.

00:06:50.020 A shelter-in-place order is in effect.

00:06:51.740 Please stay vigilant and consult the Government of Canada Travel Advisory.

00:06:55.080 I'm sorry, especially the LGBT? 1.00

00:06:57.700 Many Canadians are trapped in Port of Iharto, especially members of the LG.

00:07:02.460 Like why especially?

00:07:03.980 Why not just all Canadians that are there, right?

00:07:06.100 Like why do you have to have a special shout-out and say that it's especially important for this one community that are there, right?

00:07:13.680 Like it's so absurd, especially, like I said, families like mine.

00:07:16.980 Like actually my parents are there.

00:07:18.440 And it's quite scary to see the things unfolding on social media.

00:07:21.660 And to have our blowhard politicians trying to virtue signal and make it about one group, I mean, it's just absurd.

00:07:27.460 And so she rightfully just got absolutely ratioed on social media for good reason.

00:07:34.620 Everybody was taking a jab at her.

00:07:36.860 You see the top comment there from Cat Canada, especially members of this community.

00:07:40.900 Like how are those Canadians different than other Canadians? 0.96

00:07:43.840 Why are you like this?

00:07:44.760 This is a great question.

00:07:45.480 That's like the only question that comes out of this tweet.

00:07:47.740 Why are you like this?

00:07:49.000 Nobody agrees with this.

00:07:50.480 Nobody wants to hear it anymore.

00:07:51.980 Not even members of the gay community.

00:07:54.420 No one likes this anymore. 0.91

00:07:55.580 So just keep it to yourself.

00:07:57.760 Okay.

00:07:58.680 Not only that, folks, you have to remember that this is all part of a years-long campaign by the Canadian media to try to scare Canadians into going away from going to the U.S., right?

00:08:10.740 Like for as long as I can remember, lots and lots of Canadians would spend lots of their winter in warm American states, right?

00:08:17.740 The Sun Belt.

00:08:18.600 My family used to have a place down in Arizona that we would go to.

00:08:21.620 Actually, when I was a child and I was growing up, we had a place in California as well, right?

00:08:25.060 And so people used to go to California.

00:08:26.780 They used to go to Arizona.

00:08:27.780 Some people go to Florida, right?

00:08:29.280 There's nothing wrong with going to these places.

00:08:31.020 It's actually safe and secure and Canadians are more than welcome.

00:08:34.020 But over the last few years, we've seen a coordinated attempt from our politicians and our political class and our elites and the liberals, including the media, telling Canadians that, oh, no, it's not safe to go to the U.S.

00:08:44.320 Oh, you're not welcome in the United States.

00:08:45.820 Oh, let's boycott the United States. 1.00

00:08:47.100 Last year, we had elite politicians like Justin Trudeau and B.C. Premier David Eby, self-styled resistance MP Charlie Angus, urging Canadians not to go to the U.S., not to go to the U.S., go to Mexico.

00:08:59.980 Instead, many of these elbows-up Canadians said that they were not going to go to Florida anymore, not going to go to Arizona anymore. 0.93

00:09:06.540 Instead, they're going to go to Mexico, okay?

00:09:09.380 So look what happened to all those Canadians in Mexico. 0.96

00:09:12.880 And this is a CBC clip uncovered by Ryan Gerritsen on X.

00:09:17.060 You can see this clip literally telling them, hey, go to Puerto Vallarta, go to Puerto Vallarta.

00:09:20.640 It's the best.

00:09:21.280 You'll have a great time urging Canadians into what turned out to be a very dangerous situation. 0.98

00:09:26.060 Let's play that clip.

00:09:26.640 On the bucket list is Puerto Vallarta.

00:09:29.660 The Manitoba couple usually spends weeks or even months at a trailer park in Westlaco, Texas, but not this year.

00:09:36.940 They're not the only ones making that decision.

00:09:41.080 According to the Mexican Ministry of Tourism, the number of Canadians flying to Mexico increased by 11.3% between January and September compared to the year before.

00:09:51.880 Yeah, there's tons to do in Puerto Vallarta.

00:09:53.700 There's tons.

00:09:54.500 And all around that are whole areas.

00:09:56.720 So you won't be bored.

00:09:58.380 Good.

00:09:58.660 Perfect.

00:09:58.960 All right, folks, coming up, we'll talk about insanity from a school trustee who is being persecuted by a human rights tribunal in Chilliwack.

00:10:08.520 And at the end of the show, we're going to get to lots of gaslighting from the legacy media, including about the Olympics.

00:10:14.320 Got a lot to say about that.

00:10:16.040 But first, this happened late last week.

00:10:17.580 So Alberta Premier Danielle Smith did a live television address on Thursday evening, and she has taken aim at liberal mass immigration, saying she'll let Albertans decide on a host of immigration policies, including seizing control of Alberta's borders, prioritizing economic migrants over so-called bogus refugees, and restricting social services to residents who have been in the province for more than a year.

00:10:43.580 Here's what Premier Smith had to say.

00:10:45.200 And then came Justin Trudeau's disastrous open-border immigration policies, which have caused an unprecedented strain on our health care, education, and other social programs.

00:10:54.800 In just the last five years of Trudeau's tenure, Alberta grew by almost 600,000 people to more than 5 million, all while Ottawa throttled our most important job-creating industries and prioritized immigration away from economic migrants, and instead focused on international students, temporary workers, and asylum seekers.

00:11:14.040 Adding 600,000 people in five years is like adding half the city of Calgary or Edmonton in five years.

00:11:22.120 Although sustainable immigration has always been an important part of our provincial growth model, throwing the doors wide open to anyone and everyone across the globe has flooded our classrooms, emergency rooms, and social support systems with far too many people far too quickly. 0.99

00:11:37.220 Okay, so this televised announcement came ahead of the province's budget announcement.

00:11:42.540 Things aren't going very well on the budget front for Alberta, given the dip in global oil prices.

00:11:48.580 And she said part of the things that they're going to be looking at and part of the challenges is just this huge growth in population that have happened.

00:11:54.500 She talked about that referendum that is going to happen in October, a number of other issues that are going to be added to that, including voter ID, whether the province should charge a premium for residents with non-permanent status in order to qualify for health care and social services.

00:12:09.360 Smith will also give Albertans the ability to vote on things related to Alberta autonomy over the federal government.

00:12:16.260 Smith noted the referendum, which again takes place in October, will allow the government to truly put the needs of Albertans first.

00:12:24.560 And really something that's just not surprising at all, whenever conservatives talk about immigration, even if you talk about it in the most moderate, modest sense, like, hey guys, maybe this whole mass immigration thing wasn't the best idea.

00:12:36.580 I don't know, like everyone in the country feels that way now.

00:12:38.680 But as soon as a politician on the conservative side mentions it, what happens?

00:12:42.920 Well, the left run and jump to announce, you know, declare that they must have bad intentions and the root of this announcement must just be pure, unadulterated racism.

00:12:54.700 So that's exactly what happened.

00:12:56.860 Mark Nixon had a great tweet about this.

00:12:58.580 He said, step one, push record immigration levels.

00:13:01.280 Step two, the system buckles.

00:13:02.740 Step three, people complain.

00:13:04.320 Step four, call them racist.

00:13:05.560 That's the playbook of the NDP and the Liberals at the same time.

00:13:09.740 And that is exactly right.

00:13:10.940 The Alberta NDP jumped out.

00:13:12.800 And as soon as Smith, you know, said, mentioned anything about immigration, they just jumped to accuse her of being, yes, you guessed it, racist, racist.

00:13:21.580 It's all just racism. 0.92

00:13:23.140 Totally absurd.

00:13:24.300 Here is what that looked like.

00:13:25.440 All she's delivered on is the innuendo and the suggestion that people who are new here are somehow taking things away from people who lived here before.

00:13:33.940 And that is designed to single out people and direct and encourage racism.

00:13:39.060 We know that.

00:13:39.620 We don't need to be.

00:13:40.700 It's not coded language.

00:13:42.460 Anybody who's a person of color has experienced some of this in the last few months, in the last year.

00:13:47.800 They know what's happening here.

00:13:49.620 And it's very clear what it is.

00:13:51.120 We have to push back against this, guys.

00:13:52.500 It is not okay.

00:13:53.420 You know, saying that you don't want your country to be overtaken by people who may or may not even want to stay in Canada, may or may not even have good intentions, are just here to milk the system.

00:14:02.480 It's not racist.

00:14:03.320 It's not racist to want to protect your country and the integrity of your system.

00:14:06.760 So good on Premier Danielle Smith for putting that on the table and allowing Albertans to have a say.

00:14:12.360 Okay, folks, still sticking with things happening in British Columbia, truly just the craziest part of the country, I have to say.

00:14:18.020 I'm from there, so I can say that.

00:14:19.800 After nearly a decade of litigation, the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal has charged Barry Newfield, who is a former Chilliwack school board trustee, they've charged this guy $750,000.

00:14:32.720 $750,000 fine from this kangaroo court for the crime of stating the truth, stating a biologically, objectively true fact.

00:14:42.700 It is just so unbelievable.

00:14:44.060 He publicly opposed gender ideology, and that is a big no-no if you are a public figure or an elected official in Canada.

00:14:52.040 So the B.C. Teachers Federation and the Chilliwack Teachers Association filed a human rights complaint against Newfield all the way back in 2017.

00:15:00.160 The tribunal only released its final decision last week, finding that Newfield had engaged in hate speech.

00:15:06.380 Hate speech.

00:15:07.140 You're going to get a fine, you're going to lose your job and your livelihood and get humiliated and get taken to the task in Canada if you have wrong speak, if you don't say the government approved things.

00:15:16.920 This is just absolutely a kangaroo court, star court.

00:15:20.480 These are the things of Orwell novels here, and it's happening in real life to our fellow Canadians.

00:15:27.120 So they found that Newfield engaged in, quote, hate speech and created, quote, a poisoned work environment for queer and trans teachers in Chilliwack.

00:15:37.580 So here's one of those horrible, terrible statements that Newfield made.

00:15:41.420 This is one of the ones that they quoted in the tribunal as proof that he violated hate speech laws in Canada.

00:15:47.840 This is what Newfield wrote.

00:15:49.320 He said, this is dangerous to our kids.

00:15:51.920 Sure, there are a few children that really have difficulty with their body image, and they really are uncomfortable in their bodies.

00:15:58.720 But they're a very, very insignificant percentage, maybe half of 1%.

00:16:02.920 But this SOGI123, SOGI123, by the way, is Sexual Identity and Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity, 1, 2, 3.

00:16:11.340 It's a Vancouver activist organization.

00:16:13.480 So he's saying that their content is confusing many, many more kids.

00:16:17.540 And I don't believe they're really transgender. 0.99

00:16:19.240 They're just confused.

00:16:20.340 Do you find that objectionable?

00:16:21.700 Do you think that that's hate speech by just sort of, like, stating your opinion based in fact?

00:16:26.160 I don't know.

00:16:26.880 I have nothing wrong with that statement.

00:16:28.640 I think it's just true, and it's unbelievable that in this country you get fined and you get, like, censured and lose your position and everything, just, again, for stating truths, okay?

00:16:39.520 So this is, again, Made Canada.

00:16:41.260 There's kind of a theme going on right now, which is that the world is laughing at us, and they're noticing how extreme and crazy we've gone on so many issues, from our own made program to mass immigration to the gender ideology.

00:16:54.320 Everyone's laughing at us.

00:16:55.740 And, you know, it's kind of sad.

00:16:57.580 Canada needs to wake up to the fact that we have gone way too extreme, way too far to the left.

00:17:03.420 So English comedy legend John Cleese from Monty Python fame, he chimed in on the decision online, calling it absurd.

00:17:11.380 It's absurd to be fined for recognizing basic biological facts that there are two genders.

00:17:16.380 So here's what he had to say.

00:17:17.760 Well, there are people with Y chromosome and people without.

00:17:20.460 That's two, isn't it?

00:17:21.980 Just checking.

00:17:22.640 Because, again, one of the things that he said is just that there are two biological genders, which is obviously true. 0.98

00:17:28.440 In another post, Cleese wrote that he won't be able to do, risk doing shows in British Columbia this fall because the province is just set on persecuting people who state the truth.

00:17:39.760 Okay, folks, I want to talk a bit about the fake news that happened over the weekend.

00:17:43.620 If you're anything like me, you spent Sunday just, like, perched out on the couch watching Team Canada.

00:17:49.600 I love sports.

00:17:50.480 I love the Olympics.

00:17:51.460 Friday, I took the afternoon off, watched the women's hockey team.

00:17:54.980 I thought the women's game was incredible. 1.00

00:17:56.360 I was so proud to watch, right?

00:17:57.520 I was a longtime hockey player.

00:17:58.900 I remember the first time that women's hockey was in the Olympics.

00:18:01.880 I've been watching that game ever since.

00:18:03.240 I feel like every four years, the quality of the hockey just gets better and better.

00:18:07.300 And this year, I was just amazed.

00:18:08.360 Like, the game was so fast.

00:18:09.420 I'm talking about the women's game on Friday.

00:18:10.860 It was so fast.

00:18:11.740 The players were so good.

00:18:12.960 It was such impressive hockey.

00:18:14.660 And, of course, it was very, very disappointing to see Canada lose.

00:18:18.160 Canada outplayed in both the women's and the men's game.

00:18:21.040 But you know what?

00:18:21.900 You lose.

00:18:22.540 You're heartbroken.

00:18:23.500 You pick yourself up.

00:18:24.640 You put yourself together.

00:18:25.700 You put a smile on your face.

00:18:27.180 And you accept your silver medal.

00:18:28.900 And I didn't see that.

00:18:29.580 I didn't see that from the men or the women.

00:18:31.020 I saw a bunch of pouting faces and anger and frustration.

00:18:34.820 And I didn't really see a lot of sportsmanship from either team.

00:18:37.540 But the thing that I wanted to point out about the gold medal game, right?

00:18:42.720 So in the lead up to the game, they're showing the history of all the clips of this rivalry,

00:18:48.700 right?

00:18:48.980 Canada versus U.S.

00:18:50.160 Incredible rivalry.

00:18:51.440 We're close.

00:18:52.040 You know, we're allies.

00:18:52.740 We're friends.

00:18:53.020 We're neighbors.

00:18:53.540 A lot of people have family on both sides of the border, myself included.

00:18:56.560 And it's just a great game, right?

00:18:58.480 Every time Canada plays the U.S., I remember I was actually there in Vancouver in 2010

00:19:02.420 when the same two countries were in the finals and Canada got that golden goal.

00:19:07.800 I'll never forget that moment.

00:19:08.960 I'll never forget that moment in my entire life.

00:19:10.280 One of my most proud, happy, excited moments as a Canadian happened in 2010, right?

00:19:15.400 And so they're showing you on CBC, they're showing you the montage of all the great moments

00:19:20.220 in sports.

00:19:20.620 And you see Gretzky and you see Mario Lemieux and you see Sidney Crosby and everything.

00:19:24.740 And then right in the middle of that, what do they do?

00:19:26.720 They interject their nonsense politics, right?

00:19:29.400 So it goes from hockey to all of a sudden we see Mike Myers and the whole elbows up campaign,

00:19:34.740 right?

00:19:35.060 It goes to someone wearing a Never 51 hockey jersey, right?

00:19:39.540 And I'm like, guys, I'm trying to enjoy like a patriotic moment with my family.

00:19:43.500 I just want to watch hockey.

00:19:44.640 I don't want to hear about politics.

00:19:46.140 I don't want to think about politics.

00:19:47.100 I don't want to think about the whole propaganda campaign that you're playing with the 51st 1.00

00:19:52.620 state and how, you know, you helped Mark Carney steal that election.

00:19:56.160 I don't want to think about that, right?

00:19:57.540 So why do you have to interject politics into our national sport?

00:20:00.920 Honestly, it made me feel sour about the Canadians just for a second, just for a split second.

00:20:05.620 Then I put it out of my mind.

00:20:06.840 Although I will also say that the commercials at the Olympics are incredibly woke.

00:20:10.980 I'll just leave it at that.

00:20:12.680 Incredibly woke commercials.

00:20:13.820 I watched the Super Bowl a couple of weeks ago.

00:20:15.600 I watched it on an American feed because I love watching the commercials.

00:20:19.260 And the American commercials, it was like the woke period is over.

00:20:22.580 And all of the commercials were just like unabashedly pro-America, pro-our-future,

00:20:27.460 pro-like everything that's happening in the country.

00:20:29.400 And then you watch Canada and we're still stuck in this like weird, woke, like 2017 moment. 0.99

00:20:35.400 It's just pathetic, pathetic. 0.99

00:20:37.300 But yes, okay, the Americans won and it was heartbreaking. 1.00

00:20:39.920 And I don't like those overtimes.

00:20:41.380 I don't like the three-on-three overtimes.

00:20:42.540 I think they have to change that.

00:20:43.760 But that's a different conversation, right?

00:20:45.180 As soon as the medals started coming out and you watch these young American players,

00:20:48.880 the team was very young, incredible stories, right?

00:20:52.160 As soon as they brought on one of the players on the team, sadly was killed by a drunk driver

00:20:55.900 two years ago when they were getting their celebration.

00:20:59.320 They brought his jersey onto the ice.

00:21:01.020 They brought his two little kids.

00:21:02.480 I mean, if you didn't have tears in your eyes at that moment, there's something wrong

00:21:04.800 with you, right?

00:21:05.480 At the end of the day, it's about international sportsmanship and the competition.

00:21:10.080 You should feel happy for your American neighbors.

00:21:12.200 You should just feel happy, okay?

00:21:13.300 That's how I felt.

00:21:14.320 Anyways, that's not what was happening for many Canadians.

00:21:17.880 A lot of kind of like temper tantrums happening online, a lot of anger.

00:21:22.000 There was this clip that was going viral of FBI Director Kash Patel in the locker room

00:21:26.260 celebrating with the boys, having a good old time.

00:21:29.300 They called the president.

00:21:30.380 I mean, it's exciting.

00:21:31.380 Forget about the politics.

00:21:32.740 Forget about the party of it.

00:21:34.680 You know, you just won the gold medal and the president of your country is calling.

00:21:37.620 You're going to be pumped.

00:21:38.300 You're going to be stoked.

00:21:38.920 But no, we saw a bunch of nasty comments, especially from Canadians. 1.00

00:21:42.460 I'll just point out this one from the Globe and Mail's Andrew Coyne.

00:21:45.900 Okay. 0.96

00:21:46.420 He calls Donald Trump a fascist.

00:21:48.420 We went through this on Friday about how the Globe and Mail had this whole piece saying

00:21:52.080 that the United States had fallen to fascism.

00:21:54.660 Stop calling him a fascist.

00:21:56.260 Andrew Coyne says, it doesn't look good on these players partying with the fascists flunky.

00:22:01.120 Okay. 0.98

00:22:02.000 No, just, you know, you're coming across as a sore loser there, Andrew Coyne.

00:22:06.080 I want to stick with the Globe and Mail because this story also went totally viral over the 0.60

00:22:10.600 weekend on Friday.

00:22:12.160 The Globe and Mail had an article that said, out of nowhere, Canada became poorer than Alabama.

00:22:19.640 Out of nowhere.

00:22:20.700 How is that possible?

00:22:21.380 How did it happen, guys?

00:22:22.440 Like, like all of a sudden, you know, we stopped paying attention.

00:22:24.780 Then all of a sudden, Canada's poorer than Alabama.

00:22:27.060 It's called 10 Years of Liberals.

00:22:29.000 That's what happened.

00:22:29.640 After 10 years of Liberals, Canada became poorer than Alabama.

00:22:33.720 This is why we needed a change of government, right?

00:22:35.880 This is why Canadians need to wake up to the fact that the Liberals are making our country

00:22:40.180 worse.

00:22:40.820 They're destroying our country and they're making us poor.

00:22:43.520 And the Globe and Mail just has to like feign confusion.

00:22:46.740 Like, how did it happen?

00:22:47.660 I have no idea.

00:22:48.480 I don't know.

00:22:49.240 You're the national newspaper.

00:22:50.560 You probably should have had some idea because it didn't just happen overnight, right?

00:22:54.100 It happened over the course of 10 years.

00:22:56.080 Okay, folks, that's all the time we have for today.

00:22:57.660 Thank you so much for tuning in.

00:22:58.580 We'll be back again tomorrow with all the news.

00:23:00.340 I'm Candice Malcolm.

00:23:00.840 This is Candice Malcolm Show News Update.

00:23:02.780 Thank you and God bless.
