00:00:36.260 homophobic thing. And maybe it was debatable whether it was or it wasn't, or maybe it was clearly,
00:00:40.380 obviously, yes, it was an offending remark. And the debate was more like, okay, is it enough that
00:00:46.780 the person apologizes or should they be fired from their job? Should they lose everything? And so
00:00:52.640 forth. That was kind of where the debate stood. Now, kind of in different terrain. So the Gina
00:00:58.320 Carano story, she was one of the stars of the Mandalorian television series. She was booted
00:01:03.400 from that after a hashtag fire Gina Carano campaign flared up. There's a big campaign to support her
00:01:08.400 as well. And you're looking at the supposedly offensive stuff she did and you go on, I'm having a
00:01:15.520 hard time figuring out what the real problem is here, aside from the fact that it seems like she's
00:01:22.040 maybe probably a Trump supporter based on the post she made and that people just don't like that. And
00:01:28.120 that, that in and of itself is the reason to get her booted. Now, supposedly the straw that broke the
00:01:33.420 camel's back was she put up this post that kind of compared the treatment of, of conservatives today
00:01:39.000 to Jews in Nazi Germany. And people said, oh, that's a no go. But apparently one of the other stars of
00:01:43.800 Mandalorian, Pedro Pascal, he made a similar comparison, uh, to, to 1930s Germany, but more
00:01:49.800 from a left-wing perspective. So that was kind of okay. But, but besides that, there was a, there was
00:01:54.600 the campaign to cancel her before she even made that post just based on remarks that suggested,
00:01:59.680 yeah, she supported Trump. And, you know, maybe she felt like, uh, he didn't get a fair shake in the,
00:02:04.860 in the counts. She agreed with him when he disputed the electoral counts and so forth, but she wasn't even
00:02:08.880 all that explicit about it. It was just like they got a whiff of the fact that she wasn't a
00:02:13.540 leftist. And that was enough. A similar thing, just breaking Mumford and Sons is this hipster band.

00:02:22.520 with them. Hipster band and their, one of their guitarists, one of their musicians, he had posted
00:02:27.380 on social media that he had read a book by Andy Ngo, who's a conservative author. And he does a lot of,
00:02:33.660 uh, reportage about Antifa and the excesses that they get up to. So there's this book Antifa Unmasked.
00:02:39.880 And this musician said, Oh, you're brave man to write this book. I read it. Good book. That kind
00:02:44.320 of thing. Really simple post, just a couple lines. Outrage. And now he's had to step away from the
00:02:49.400 band for a bit and put out one of those bizarre statements where he says, Oh, I didn't realize
00:02:53.520 how my words could hurt people and so forth. And you go, what is going on here? I mean, it's one
00:02:58.620 thing to maybe go after that guy, Andy Ngo for writing that book. And a lot of people have gone
00:03:02.540 after him. Uh, I think he's doing a good job documenting Antifa's excesses, but you're going
00:03:07.980 after a guy just for saying he read that book and he liked it. I mean, heavens, it's like, you're not
00:03:14.920 even going after anyone for any particular, uh, explicit offense. You just going after them
00:03:20.000 because you figured out they're not a leftist. One of the scariest ones. And I, I don't know where
00:03:25.480 it's going to go. We'll see if it bubbles further to the surface is Dolly Parton, who I don't know if
00:03:30.220 you're familiar with more recent stuff about her documentaries and so forth, but she's getting a
00:03:34.740 lot of support because she just seems like a really genuine, decent, lovely person, movie stars,
00:03:40.300 musicians, celebrities. Some of you go, Oh, they're a bunch of phonies, but she seems like a genuine,
00:03:44.840 just decent person who sees the best in everyone. There's this great documentary on her, uh, recently
00:03:49.760 a town tried to put up a statue to her. And she said, look, there's all these healthcare heroes and
00:03:54.000 people who have suffered this year. I don't want to be honored right now for that reason. You go, man,
00:03:58.300 this person just has a heart of gold, but I've noticed there's a number of features out there
00:04:02.900 and discussions doing the rounds where they say, you know, Dolly Parton, she's not really saying any
00:04:07.400 political comments. What's the deal here? Is she secretly some right winger? She's a country music
00:04:13.000 singer, pride conservative. Is she a Trump supporter? She's not denouncing Trump. So what's the issue?
00:04:18.040 You know, this is a problem with Dolly Parton. You know what, what's actually, is she trying to play
00:04:22.280 both sides here? I mean, personally, I think it's kind of nice to see a celebrity out there who wants to
00:04:26.740 unify people, not be politically divisive. But I guess just because people get a whiff of the fact
00:04:32.220 that Dolly Parton is, is maybe a Trump supporter, I don't think she said anything about it, or they
00:04:37.200 just get a, get a sense that she is not a leftist, that in itself makes people irate about her. That
00:04:43.560 seems to be kind of the new criteria for, for where we're heading right now with cancel culture.
